This is for my first visit only. On this visit I tried the staple they are best known for "Burnt Ends". This is by far the best Burnt Ends I've ever had period. I don't know how to describe it but this is the one. On the other hand tried the Brisket on 2nd visit it's not bad but had better brisket in Omaha. So I will stick with the Burnt Ends.

One of the best BBQ joints in the Omaha area. I ordered the sampler platter which came with Pork, Brisket, Turkey and Sausage with two sides for $15. This came with a bunch of food for a great price. Really enjoyed the mustard sauce. I wasn't crazy about the coleslaw, but the beans were great. They had a nice smokey flavor with jalapeno to give it just the right amount of kick (not too much). I mainly went to try the burnt ends, but they were out that day. Still enjoyed the food!

Read some interesting reviews of We'll Smoke U here on yelp. Some certainly made me chuckle. The smoked meats are well prepared and smoked to near perfection. The smoke flavor isn't overpowering as in some BBQ joints i've be in. Yes, I have eaten BBQ from North Carolina, Texas, Kansas City, etc. I have eaten great BBQ and Bad BBQ and We'll Smoke U ranks in the top 3/4 of the BBQ i've eaten. The sauce selection is limited to 3 sauces and I prefer a spicier sauce than what is available, but the available sauces are certainly palatable. Ribs are tender and separate from the bone quite easily. Competition ribs aren't as tender as these, but most people wouldn't like competition prepped BBQ. The beans are good and the last time I was there I believe I picked up a Jalepeno flavor which excited me! It wasn't enough to make me break a sweat but certainly enhanced the experience with the side. The coleslaw it not the best I've eaten but certainly not the worst either. Its a typical run of the mill coleslaw. The ribs I would give an 8 on a scale of 1-10 which is better than any BBQ restrurant I've had in the Omaha area. The pulled pork is definately a 8 and is juicy and tender with good smoke flavor. The brisket sandwich I had I would give an 7 and I'm not a brisket fan. They're pull chicken was extremely good and I'd give it a 8 also. The comments on service always interest me. You walk up to the counter are greeted and place your order. I've always found the employees pleasant when I've being there, but there isn't a lot of interaction there. They don't need to kiss my @$& to make me happy either. The only complaint I would have is sometimes the food isn't very warm. I also understand BBQ and know that is difficult without nuking the product. The last time i was there the ribs were hot. I have a ways to go to try everything on the menu and will return to We'll Smoke U to get my BBQ fix. Looking forward to warmer weather so I can climb on the Road King and head to We'LL Smoke U

We were pleasantly surprised. Being from KC we know a little something about BBQ. While not out of this world it's definitely worth a try. We'll be back.

Decent bbq but nothing outstanding. We tried the brisket and the ribs with a few sides. The brisket was fair, the ribs were better, the sides (potato salad, beans & fries) were pretty good. The staff was nice and the sauce selection was decent.

Wow. This is good food. For what you get, quantity and quality, the prices are really reasonable. Service was extremely friendly and very quick. I'd like to return..often. And will be recommending to friends. Bring an extra bun - you can use it with what spills out to make another sandwich ;-)

Had the pulled pork sandwich. Tasted like they boiled the pork. No seasoning. At all. Store-bought buns. Pork and beans were good though.

Burnt ends are a little hard to come by in Omaha, so I was delighted to see this menu option. They were cooked to perfection as well! Most meals come with a warm chocolate chip cookies, how can you beat that? Others complain about the atmosphere- I think it's adorable! It's decorated similar to Famous Dave's with license plates, and souvenir type items, signs etc. taking up most of the wall real estate. Their service was okay, no one seemed to excited that we were there- but the food did come out relatively quickly and it is outstanding! Potato salad and beans were also great! I really wish they had cornbread, that would MAKE this place! Check it out, it's not half bad for BBQ in a Gretna strip mall...

Secind time here and pulled pork sandwhich is great! And I love the sweet barbecue. The potato salad is another favorite. My son gets the half rack and he says it's awesome. The thing they can do to improve.... the person at the counter could act like she even remotely likes people. Both times we've been there the counter person didn't want to do anything but take an order and move on.

Excellent grub overall but an average atmosphere. When I go to a BBQ place I'm not usually expecting it to wow me but I do expect it to be clean. The tables were a bit grimy, like they had been wiped with a dirty washcloth. I didn't like the looks of the pop machine, so I opted for no ice (unwashed ice makers are famous breeding grounds for mold...thanks Robert from Restaurant Impossible). The chairs weren't comfortable, and overall I just didn't want to be there. If I go back, I'll definitely do take out. Now for the good news. The food. I ordered a "mini meal," which came with an entree, a side, and a beverage. They also have a la carte items and a bigger meal called the "maxi meal," which I believe has an entree and two sides. I was disappointed that there wasn't any mac and cheese on the menu. It's my favorite BBQ accoutrement. I opted for the fries, which were reminiscent of Runza but not as crispy. Of course I went with the burnt ends for the entree, and I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. Succulent, tender chunks with a deep smoke flavor and that distinctive purple/pink smoke ring. Devine. Service wasn't anything to write home about, but no major problems either.

Fantastic BBQ. The burnt ends, pulled port, brisket, and nachos are all awesome. Their sides are slightly unconventional for bbq in Omaha; the coleslaw and potato salad being more of a "vinaigrette" instead of mayo based (I like this!). The main item on my wish list for this place is a bigger dining room!

I'll agree with an earlier reviewer about the "mediocre" bbq t-shirt. I simply expected more. I had the brisket sandwich with cole slaw and bbq beans. The brisket had good flavor but I had to slather in the sauce because it was so dry. I love a brisket that can be eaten straight up without the sauce, this wasn't it. The bbq beans were very sweet and had way too many raw onions in them. And finally the cole slaw, simply stated...worst cole slaw ever. It was basically a cup of shredded cabbage, carrots and poppy seeds with a smidgen of vinegar. To say the flavor was lacking would be an understatement. My quest for good bbq in the Omaha metro continues.

Been here a dozen or so times over the last couple of years. The first few times I had their burnt ends they were very good. Not the best I've ever had (Joe's KC BBQ's are pretty awesome as are Swine Dining BBQ's), but very tasty. The last couple of times they were dry and sort of flavorless. So, I've stopped ordering them. I couldn't tell you about their regular brisket either. I got so tired of being disappointed with the dry and bland brisket I was served at almost every supposedly great BBQ joint that I just gave up ordering it altogether. So, does We'll Smoke U BBQ have good brisket? I hope so, but I'll never know. I do wish they'd get the quality of their burnt ends back up to where it used to be a couple of years ago. Ribs are very good. Not overly cooked and they have a great bark. I'd like a bit more smoke on them, but they've still very tasty. Pulled Pork is very good (moist and tasty) and they really give you a huge pulled pork sandwich. You won't go hungry. Their BBQ Beans are very tasty and have little pieces of jalapeño in them. I love that. Very good. Their barbecue sauces are also very good. I like to mix the sweet and the hot (1/3 sweet, 2/3 hot). My wife likes the Carolina Mustard, but then, she is freakishly addicted to all things mustard. Iced Tea is from a fountain (i.e. made from concentrate) and it tastes AWFUL. How can you sell BBQ and not offer fresh brewed iced tea? Don't the two go hand in hand? Lose the nasty Fuze Iced Tea and brew some fresh Luzianne or the like. I do wish they had a couple of neutral dining options. My wife isn't a big fan of BBQ and it'd be a lot easier to drag her here if there was something on the menu that wasn't smoked for people like her, but this IS a BBQ restaurant so I don't expect that to change. Restaurant is always extremely clean and is well-maintained.

Since I wrote this review I've been back a few times and have been disappointed. The burnt ends were my favorite dish...always tender and flavorful. Since then I've ordered the burnt ends...typically to go, and they just aren't very tender. They seem dry and lacking in flavor. Not sure if it's because they are using the whole brisket instead of the point, or if it's a change in cooking process. Either way it's just not what it used to be. So sad.

We were looking for a BBQ joint on our way out of Omaha and just happened be passing by We'll Smoke You. We saw the Yelp reviews so we thought we would give it a try and I'm glad we did. All 3 of us got the brisket sandwich. The brisket was moist and tender with a good smokey flavor and the portions were ample. The buns and BBQ sauce were really good as well. Didn't get a chance to try any sides this time. Go wait until my next trip to Omaha to go back to this place.

Driving through on business. Absolutely great food and service. I will be back next time I'm going through town!! I had the brisket sandwich and it did not disappoint! Sauces were also very good.

There was a t-shirt behind the cash register that said, "the best Medi-ocre BBQ around" What a spot on statement! We ended up here after a trek out to the new outlet malls where there are literally TWO place to eat in the whole shopping center. Which doesn't bode well when there are a few hundred people looking for lunch. Hopefully, they will have more options soon. Poor Voo Doo taco was swarmed!! Anyway, back to the BBQ.... I had a briskett sandwich with a side of coleslaw and my husband had a Hawaiian pulled pork sandwich with beans. Both were good, and filling, the sauces were pretty tasty. The coleslaw was very bland. The beans were very basic too. I would say, for the price it was a satisfying meal, and we enjoyed our visit. I wasn't blown away with the flavor of the BBQ, or the char on the briskett. The decor and atmosphere is fun, lots of kids were there on the day of our visit. It was a nice lunch for $20, and a close choice if you don't have patience to wait at the two outlet mall joints. If you find yourself in Gretna, maybe give it a try if you are looking for a hearty, meaty sandwich!

I like to pretend that I'm a BBQ connoisseur, but really, I just like BBQ. Meanwhile, I eat at one of the best BBQ pits in town on a pretty regular basis (hint: Old Town Bellevue, Ne). We'll Smoke U is clean and serves beer. They have a nice seating area outside and a nicely decorated inside that remind me of many BBQ pit joints. It was slow on a Saturday afternoon when we were there. So the service was excellent. Regarding the food, the beans were good, but not incredible. The cole slaw was actually so plain, I only ate a couple of bites. The pulled pork was quite a bit of meat, probably at least a third of a pound completely covering my bread. You could tell it was smoked, but just barely. It was served dry and sauce was on the table. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't blowing me away. My wife had the Carolina pulled pork, i.e. Carolina to mean mustard style/vinegar sauce. She enjoyed it, and is still talking about it. My boys however, they both got the brisket. WOW...it was smoked, and served in slices just like you expect. A little pink in the center, brown around the edges, and a tiny bit of black charring on the end. As it was served, you could literally smell/taste the smoke rolling off it. My boys then dipped it in a little bit of sweet BBQ sauce and all I can say is that I was wishing I could swap plates with them. If you are in Gretna - definitely worth a stop to enjoy some BBQ.

Been here a couple times and can't stop getting the brisket sandwich. The brisket is tender, flavorful and the perfect texture. Not too smokey like another place in town. I'm no BBQ judge but I've smoked a little BBQ and brisket is one of the hardest to get right. I can't imagine brisket served in a restaurant that gets much better. Service is fast and friendly. Interior is clean and new. Can't wait to try other items and update my review, but so far it gets 5 stars until I find something wrong. Also, their homemade sauces are great. The brisket doesn't need it but I do love the spicy and mustard sauces.

  • KR H.

Once you've had KC BBQ everything else is kinda disappointing. This was my first visit. The beans were very good... had bits of jalapeno in there but not too spicy. The slaw is very different... not chopped into tiny pieces and has a light vinegar based dressing. I prefer a standard slaw but this light take is one I think a lot of people might appreciate. I had the brisket...not much of a smoked flavor... I like it stronger but was not dry and serving was generous. The sweet sauce is a little bland and the hot sauce didn't have too much heat..but it didn't have anything else going for it... so I used my old trick of mixing the two... and you end up with a decent sauce. They have a mustard Carolina sauce but for the life of me don't know why anyone would do that to meat. Atmosphere was great and service acceptable. Prices very reasonable. This place is worth a 2nd and 3rd visit...

I want to start off by saying that I really wanted to like this place a lot more than I did. I received lots of recommendations to go here, so I couldn't wait to make the trip to Gretna and pick up some. In fact, I wanted the full experience so I got the Family Pack (1 lb of brisket, 1 lb of pulled pork, beans, fries, buns). So onward to my review... THE GOOD 1. The BBQ Sauce- Flavorful and sweet, just the way I like it. 2. The Decor- Very "BBQ-Y" feel and color scheme was well-suited. THE BAD 1. Food- The meat was tender, but lacking any flavor. Seriously. I had to douse it with tons of their BBQ sauce to make it even palatable. Baked beans and fries weren't anything special either. 2. Service- I came in at 1:30 on a Tuesday (so not busy whatsoever) and when I approached the lady at the front saying it was my first time here, she looked really annoyed that I asked questions and wasn't sure immediately what to order. MOST businesses would be like "Oh then we're glad you came here, you should try A, B, and C". She was very short with her answers and I felt very unwelcomed. My husband grew up on BBQ so we're a bit of "BBQ Snobs" when it comes to finding good ones. This definitely was forgettable.

The place down the road had an hour and a half wait so we googled and found out that We'll Smoke U was on the way home and decided to give it a shot. We are certainly glad we did. It's unassuming, since it's in a strip mall between a daycare center and a beauty salon, but when you step in you know that it's a BBQ joint. It's an order at the counter kind of place, and the prices are very reasonable. We got our food As far as sides go, I had the cole slaw and the tried the beans and I say they are far ahead of any other BBQ place in the area. And the cue? Amazing. We had a large group and several got the ribs and really couldn't say enough good about them (we even talked about getting some to go on our next picnic). My wife got the pulled pork, and she let me have a sample -- it was also very very good. I had the brisket sandwich and was also very happy. Their regular sauce was probably among the best I've ever had. I've had a lot of BBQ in my life, and quality of the food at We'll Smoke U is comparable to the Salt Lick outside of Austin, TX. Yes it's that good. We will be back.

I have patronized this place several times now, and I think they serve great BBQ and the service is good as well. I recently tried their Brisket Popper Sandwich, which is only served as a special on certain days, and it was fantastic. Their burnt ends were also very good. This place gets pretty busy for weekday lunch, so beware. Check their Facebook page for their daily specials.

Great quality of meat is key at this place. Must try the turkey and Big ass Nachos. Staff is great, only bad thing is the hours are a little tricky and they close often for family reasons so make sure to call if you're making a drive.

Love that they have a variety of meats and sauces! I'm really glad to see this place in Gretna!
