Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

This was my first trip to Nebraska and being from New Jersey I was sure that I would NOT find two things. Good Chinese or Italian food. I was right on the Chinese food... there is apparently no real or good Chinese food in Nebraska.. at least around Omaha, Lincoln, Aurora, and Grand Island. That is okay. Unfortunately, many folks I met in Nebraska look at the all you can eat buffet at Pizza Hut or a night out at Olive Garden as"real good" Italian food. We all know that is a load of crap. "Pass the Prego and Ragu". ug... I digress. At Napoli's I had what I would consider some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. I was so shocked the food was so good; everything from the bread, appetizers, and entrees that I had to ask our waiter. I said, "There is no way the chef is from around here... the food is too good and is old school Italian cooking. Where are you from?" The waiter said he was the owner and immigrated from Italy to New York, then Mt. Olive New Jersey, then to Kansas (I believe), and finally coming to rest in Grand Island, Nebraska. Folks who have reviewed this restaurant poorly on Google, I suspect, like Olive Garden and Pizza Hut. While the prices are higher as compared to OG and PH, they are right in line with what I would expect at an establishment with this high quality of food. There were 7 of us at the table and the service was perfect. No one had to ask for another drink as fresh ones were put on the table when glasses were empty, the appetizers were all delicious. We had mozzarella sticks for the kids and bruschetta for the adults. The meals were served hot (on hot plates as well). I had the chicken parmigiana. Both the chicken and pasta were prepared perfectly and the gravy was outstanding. I asked for more to dip my hot bread in to. If you're a Nebraskan, please understand that salads in Italian restaurants come with Italian dressing. While I agree that Dorothy Lynch dressing is tasty, it does not belong in a Italian restaurant nor should it ever be put on Italian food or salad in a real Italian restaurant. Please, let go of the Dorothy Lynch for one night. Thanks. This was previously mentioned in another comment here on Yelp, but it is so important I feel it necessary to repeat it here. Others had veal, shrimp/pasta, spaghetti and meatballs, and the Tiramisu was the best I have ever had. Better than my grandma's (sorry grandma) and a step above the Cheesecake Factory which now has the 3rd best Tiramisu. I'll wrap up with this. If you want real Italian food that is just plain good home cooking Italian with a fair price and great service.... Go to Napoli's in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Sadly my wife and I were refered to this establishment as authentic Italian quisine owned by real I-talians. Well, they must have returned to Italy because I never heard one 'mangiare'! Sitting at the bar (because of a malady of mine, a damaged femur-pelvis, I must sit up high i.e. a bar stool) we got to witness dirty glasses, only a meter away, through our entire meal. Never once did any waitress remove them after numerous trips behind the bar. But, they did add my dirty glass to the array. Perhaps it is an added attraction in Nebraska. (See photo...perhaps.) Service was mediocre as was the food.

Disappointed at entrance... It didn't seem clean, shabby , unwelcoming. Waitress seemed unhappy, not pleasant. Walked out. If I'm going to spend my money at your establishment make me feel welcome. Otherwise I'm gone!

Six of us had dinner at Napoli's about a week ago, and we were very pleased. Our dinners included Shrimp Alfredo, Chicken Parmigiana, Scaloppine, Chicken Alfredo, and two orders of a combination sampler with lasagna, ravioli, tortellini, manicotti, and italian sausage. All meals were huge and delicious, and we enjoyed the house wines served. Prices were very reasonable - most were priced under $15. Family owned, the staff was very attentive and gracious!

We stopped at Napoli's prior to our visit to the State Fair. I was a little worried about our table of 5 walking in at 6:30 and getting a table, but we were seated right away. I perused the wine list and noticed several Moscatos and Lumbrusco (yuck), however, there were a couple of decent bottles of Chianti. Service was less than stellar, on the slow side, but the food was pretty good. Our table ordered seafood pasta, lasagna, Caesar salad with shrimp, manicotti, and sausage with peppers. I personally ordered the Caesar salad, and the shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. I'm currently avoiding bread, but the fresh bread with dipping oil looked absolutely divine. The manicotti and lasagna were both good, and the sausage and peppers dish was well balanced and very good. The seafood pasta, however, was not so great, smelling fishy. I guess that's the risk you take when ordering seafood in the middle of Nebraska. Entrees came with soup or salad, and I think the biggest surprise of the night was the lentil soup my mother ordered. It was fantastic. I'm not sure I'll be in Grand Island anytime soon, but if I am, I wouldn't hesitate to dine at Napoli's.

Napoli's has the best pizza around. Entrees are always delicious and freshly prepared. Their rolls are awesome. Very enjoyable and great atmosphere.

There are always these commercials for Napoli's on the radio, so when a friend came into town we went to Napoli's. I think as an American Italian restaurant it serves up a solid effort. But it was billed as authentic Italian, and I have to say, it just isn't up to par with real Italian food. That said, I obviously understand catering to a local population. The portions were large and prices appropriate. The service was good as well. Even though it wasn't like the great food I had in Italy, I probably will still go again some time because it is probably the best Italian option in town.

This place was outstanding! From the moment we stepped in the door, we felt welcomed. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was amazing! The fresh baked bread was a delight to start the meal. Rich meat sauce on the spaghetti brought back memories of other favorite Italian restaurants we've visited. Napoli's is worth a return visit to Grand Island!

Excellent. The service, the food... it's the whole package. The entrees are wonderful, if you've got room after the bread. You must try the bread. Served with dipping oil, it's not the crusty style you might expect... it's a soft flaky roll that when dipped is pretty close to Nirvana. Combined with their authentic main dishes, this is definitely a treat for anyone in this part of Nebraska.

I had to be out here for some work, and told my hostess that she could pick the lunch spot since she was more familiar. Crossing my fingers she would pick some place good, I wasn't disappointed (I've ended up at Applebees before when doing this, so I tend to be a bit cautious). I ordered the ravioli, which was really good, very creamy with just the right amount of red sauce. I also carb-loaded on their bread and olive oil dipping sauce, YUM! I agree with one of the other reviewers, DON"T ever eat at Olive Garden, and if you are in Grand Island, eat here! It was super cheap too! Only $20 with tip for two entrees and drinks.

The Tiramisu was the best part. Service was acceptable. If you expect to go there and order food like a midwesterner then just accept the fact that an Italian restaurant has ITALIAN dressing, don't ask for Dorothy Lynch like a rube. Food is better than Olive Garden (seriously, never go there) in its authenticity and overall quality. Bar staff is top notch. Cheers!

Great service, amazing lunch deal, great portions and good food. Stopped here on the way to the airport and I would be a regular if I lived there.

went for dinner here with two old friends and we left stuffed to the gills and no room for dessert with by far the best italian meal i had in Grand Island and actually knocking several in Kansas City and Los Angeles off the list. in fact i wish Napoli's would move to Overland Park and show some of the local places that have been trading on longevity what its like to turn out real tasty and fresh meals that satisfied their customers. everything was fresh tasting and perfectly turned out. the restaurant was very nice atmosphere and the server and hostess couldn't have done more for us. we had refills galore. the wine my friend ordered was excellent reisling. we ordered the toasted ravioli as an appetizer it was so amazing when my friend stared at the last one and then me and said " you want that" i knew NO go ahead was the way to go, never stand in front of an old friend and the toasted ravioli! the salads were good and the meals i ordered lasanga which i always order because its my favorite dish- my friend ordered the lobster ravioli and her hubby had a bruschetta pizza that looked amazing. i wish i would have more time in town to go back for pizza there. my friend and i traded bites and the lobster ravioli was incredible i'm going to have to start looking for it down here but i have a feeling its big shoes to fill- and both she and i loved my lasanga and her hubby said the pizza was one slice short of fitting in her hubbys stomach totally and he was bummed because he truly enjoyed every bite and just wanted a bit more room.. LOL. the rolls and dipping oil were also excellent! i've been to Italian places all over, this was an excellent meal.

We stayed with friends in the Grand Island area this weekend and had Sunday lunch at Napoli's before heading home. We are very glad we did! The food was great, the portions were generous, and the wait staff were very friendly & helpful. The lunch prices were quite reasonable and so were the prices of the kid's meals. We will go back again the next time we are in Grand Island. Very highly recommended!
