One of our favorites! About three blocks from our house and locally owned and operated. Good food and the renovations turned out beautiful. Plus I love that they hire local high school students. The only downside is they are always busy!!! I guess the secret is out.

Dairy Chef is an awesome place to grab an ice cream cone and they have unbelievable food. They make Dairy Queen look terrible. I went with the Big Mo burger today and it was easily one of the best I've had in Omaha. Their ice cream is incredibly fresh and the atmosphere is great. It's more of your typical small town ice cream hut with great food. You can't go wrong here. Brat approved.

Bad customer service!! We ordered 4 meals so I expected to wait. We waited 30 minutes and finally I asked about our order, the order was already done but they failed to call our name. When we got home my husband's meal was wrong, my daughter didn't get her apple juice that was supposed to come with her kid's meal and the ranch for our chicken tenders looked like cottage cheese. They acted like they didn't want to serve us, not once did they come over and ask if we had been helped or say your order will be ready soon while we sat there and waited for our order. Needless to say we won't be back.

My phone's camera doesn't do the giant twist cone justice. It was a work of art. I thought it was too beautiful to eat but quickly changed my mind. The dude said if he knew I was going to take a picture of it, he would have made it 3 or 4 inches taller. Nice little ice cream shack has plenty of parking and a covered sitting area. I noticed the big Mo challenge on the menu which I think is a sandwich with a pound of roast beef, pound of fries and a big thing of ice cream. Eat it in 15 minutes and you get a t shirt and your picture on the wall. You gotta love a challenge you can squeeze in on your lunch break.

I love this place! I always enjoy taking my kids there after their sports events. They have gigantic cones almost a foot tall and have other great deserts. The food is pretty good and is at a pretty good price. They have some outdoor tables and a tent over a few of them. Plus, they have a big field out back that my kids like to play on. Overall excellent!

Now a family atmosphere... nice local place for a quick ice cream but not a place to take children because of the strange old guy men.

Small town feel and delicious food. I loooove the French dip and my husband always gets a cheeseburger. The fries are ah-mazing and of course the ice cream is out of this world. I go for a cookie dough storm. If in doubt, go for the smaller size because they are HUGE! Wait is awhile sometimes and the small place can get warm, but there are plenty of covered picnic tables outside and the wait is worth it. Oh and if you order ice cream at the same time as your food, you can ask them to come back and get it when you're ready for it.

Nasty and Way too expensive and now unreasonable to go to especially considering how close the new Dairy Queen is to it

Our family loves this place. Great beef sandwiches and cheeseburgers. Fries are well worth it being hand cut. Never had a bad meal here and the ice cream is worth it. My kids look forward to a trip to the Dairy Chef!!

I was very impressed by my first visit at Dairy Chef, it gives you the small town local ice cream shop feel. I like how you can order outside through a window and eat outside as well because the inside tends to really fill up quick especially during the busy times due to small amount of indoor seating available. Also the quality of the food/dessert items on the menu were very good as well. The food that I received seemed very fresh and nice portion as well. Prices were reasonable a tad on the high side but overall it was worth the price. Was very happy with my visit at Dairy Chef and will be back again.

This place is awesome- your prototypical small town american dairy bar. Old fashioned cheeseburgers, fries and a shake, a great place to hit before the golf course-- very close to Indian Creek. I also like the patio and the fact you can place your order from the outside window.

Like many of the small town ice cream joints, Dairy Chef is modeled after Dairy Queen. The menu has your standard treats including storms (their version of the blizzard), sundaes, banana splits, cones, etc. The also had a variety of sandwiches. I can only speak to the peanut butter cup storm that I had and it was tasty. It didn't have the big chunks of peanut butter cup that you can get at Zesto. Having said that, this is a solid little ice cream joint and the price seemed cheaper.

For a reasonably priced burger that's not paper thin you have to try it. Beats 5 guys and about any other burger joint in Omaha. They get they're meat from the meat market down the street and it is lean and tasty. I love the jalapeño burger, it's a great combination. Staff is friendly and they make the most enormous ice cream cones you'll ever see. Dairy Queen eat your heart out, you can't compare the value and amount served compare to Dairy Chef. A favorite spot after a sporting events makes for busy place after the games! Worth the wait tho and lunch time is not super busy. Try it you'll like it!

Quaint restaurant with great food! I had a roast beef sandwich with fries today. The beef was tender, juicy, and had great flavor. The Dairy Chef is an excellent nostalgic blast to the ice cream/burger stand you visited as a kid! It's just a blast! If you want a really excellent roast beef sandwich or burger, this is the place. My son really liked the ice cream, and we will be back!

I grew up right down the street from here. It used to be a little rundown but the new owners have given it life again. The ice cream is superb and the food isn't too bad either. Cheap and quite tasty. It's always been a family favorite and I think that most people in Elkhorn feel that way too. It's closed for the winter, but will be opening soon.

Ice cream was really good. Waited over an hour for our food, and food was not that great.
