Fernandos is very mediocre. It has a large Mexican American menu and nothing I've ever had has really stood out. Pretty standard fare. Their food has never made me sick. It's okay. Nothing special.

Service was great but that's it! I used to love this place so returned when I was back visiting, very dissapointed! Enchiladas were premade, could definitely tell they were frozen. The server even admitted that when he explained why we couldn't substitute anything! Green chili was bad so tasteless, sides were cold and the margaritas were really small! This place won't be on my list for next visit!

Midwest Mexican is always a challenge and Fernando's meets the taste of the locals very well. Clean conditions, friendly staff, nice interior and a typical mid-American Mexican menu that is quite good. Try the taquitos as a meal instead of an appetizer. You need to ask for corn tortillas with your tacos or you get flour. The hot sauce is excellent. Give Fernando's a try for a tasty meal that will fill you up...but don't expect carne asada tacos with two tortillas. Just good Midwest Mex.

Been here so many times and it's amazing how much better the one in Blair is vs. the Omaha ones I've been to. Get the stringy queso dip! It's amazing. Their enchiladas are insane. Staff is nice and our waitress was very good. Will definitely return.

Both of us had item 2 on the menu, the taco and enchilada combo. Server recommended chicken on the taco and beef on the enchilada. That's the way to go on this item. They were fantastic; service was good. A bit expensive, though: $30 with tip for 2.

Service good, food bad. Bland at best, chips and salsa were extra and had no taste. I had #11 which I believe was a green chili chicken enchilada. It came out in about 2 minutes and wasn't hot. I thought about sending it back, but hot, bad food doesn't beat cold, bad food by much. If you find ketchup spicy, then this is your Mexican place. Otherwise if you're in town and want some thing close to Mexican, just do Taco Bell and load up on fire sauce.

Having recently moved from Texas, I was a little uncertain about finding good Mexican food here in Nebraska, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, you do have to pay and ask for chips and salsa, which every other Mexican restaurant I've been to serves complimentary, and upon arrival. And yes, the margarita was incredibly tiny, and the service wasn't lightening speed, however... The food more than makes up for the downfalls. It's really delicious, fresh, and you receive large portions. Plenty to share a plate, or take home leftovers for later. I had the combo fajitas, chicken and beef. Not the best I've ever had, but good. A second diner at my party had the chili rellenos. Amazing! I wish I had ordered this dish, it was very good. If you are expecting a crispy coating or something very cheesy, you may be disappointed. If you love homemade tasting rellenos, and strong chili pepper flavor, you will love it. Another diner ordered the nachos with shredded beef. I don't know how they cook the shredded beef there, but the flavor is intense. Very spicy, and a fair amount of heat. Very large portion on the full size order. Literally the best nachos I've ever tasted, and believe me, I've had a lot. And our younger diner had cheese pizza, and as a connosieur of pizza, it received 2 thumbs up. I didn't taste the pizza though, something about wanting Mexican, and tasting Italian didn't wash with my taste buds, but he said it was really good. They also serve a decent amount of American choices if there are those in your dining party that do not like Mexican. We all liked the atmosphere, it was roomy and cozy. The wait staff was very friendly, but like I said...not lightening speed. At times, we even were a little annoyed waiting for tea refills, and for our check. But we will definitely be frequenting this restaurant many times during our stay here.

Good Nebraska Mex, can't say it was outstanding. Service was pretty good and prices were definitely fair. Probably won't be back.

I was in Blair for the day, taking a class with a bunch of other folks from out of town. We asked our guide where to go for lunch and she brought us to Fernando's. I was happy with it! The service was great (we had a large group), everyone got what they ordered, and I, personally, was happy with my meal. I ordered the Enchilada Combo or special or whatever (one enchilada with rice and beans). Although the menu only says you can get a beef, chicken or seafood enchilada, I requested an onion & cheese, and they were happy to oblige. The rice was okay--I've had better, but I've had much worse... the beans were good. The enchilada was fantastic! I usually request hot/spicy salsa and sour cream, but I didn't want to mess with it this time, since our waitress was so busy with our large group. (Okay, honestly, I was too hungry to wait!) I just grabbed some of the hot sauce there on the table (not the salsa, which I assume is medium or mild, and they have it in a syrup decanter, which I think is clever), and it was perfect--didn't melt my face, but added just the right amount of flame. I don't have much need to return to Blair, but if I do, I'll definitely head to Fernando's again (I've heard they make great margaritas). In fact, if I have friends willing to drive an hour and a half for a girls' night, I might suggest we head to Fernando's!

Okay. I admit I have been holding off on having my first Mexican meal since I arrived in the area, but I was starved and needing some fortification before tackling American Broadband. It was about 1pm, there were a few other customers there, and I waited for several minutes positioning myself strategically but unsuccessfully to be seen by staff, until I walked out back and asked to be seated. Still undaunted. Paying for chips and pico de gallo did not faze me, though the chips were flour and I was expecting corn, which was wierd, but I was really hungry so that did not stop me. The beer list was macro heavy, micro light. So what, I ordered a Sammy. The beer came, then my meal. I had to ask for the chips. No matter. I asked the waitress for a recommendation for a meal and she unhesitatingly suggested the seafood enchiladas. I took the dinner plate (good refried beans and rice, lettuce and tomato), not smothered with sauce or cheese. A single enchilada arrived in a "white sauce"; somehow I was expecting two or three, as this was a dinner plate, not a la carte. No problemo. My meal was very tasty and filling. A pleasant atmosphere in the Blair location with window booth seating available. Nice staff, despite difficulty getting seated and scattered service. Very friendly. I look forward to having a tamalada with the kind lady who seated me. Now I need to know where I can buy my masa harina and some dried corn husks....

Good food. Wish they would renovate the party room & update tech equipment.

Fernando's is a decent Mexican restaurant. Our family likes to go here quite often. We always order the pico and the fried flour chips...YUM!!! The chicken enchiladas and tacos are very tasty. As is the seafood enchilada. I have ordered a bloody Mary and I will never order that again. There was something about it that was just, well, yuk! We will continue to frequent Fernando's when we are in the mood for Mexican.

Ick...my food was not good and we had to pay for chips and salsa, which were bland and gross. The margaritas were tiny for the price and seriously lacking in taste. Not at all impressed....

First off I love how everyone gets mad you don't get free food before you get your food (i.e chips and salsa), its not like you go to buy shoes and free socks come inside of them...And the enchiladas are incredible, get the combo, both beef. If you are a calorie weenie shut up and eat them its time to learn what flavor taste like!

My first time at Fernando's. I stopped with my mom while we were in town. Overall, I was very pleased. I ordered the combo plate with a tamale, beef taco, and seafood enchilada. Also included was re-friend beans and rice. Everything was very good. What really stood out for me was the taco shell. It was one of those puffy, deep fried taco shells that I really like. My only complaint, and it was my fault was that they threw lettuce and tomatoes over the top of everything. The waitress asked if I wanted lettuce and tomato on top, and I said yes. I didn't realize that that meant I couldn't see my food when they brought it out because it covered almost the whole plate. The waitress appeared to disappear for long periods of time and while she seemed somewhat inattentive, she did keep our glasses filled. Overall, very pleased. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
