The only thig good I have today about this place is the service. The food was bad and portions were small. I ordered a burger and it was just a tad bigger then a slider. The fries are over seasoned and the beer selection is small. I would not return.

I first went to this restraunt right after it opened. I really liked the food. However, a few months later I started to notice that the food was going down hill. Now it's a difference of night and day from when it first opened. Overpriced mediocre food, there are much better options in town. On the plus side, this place usually isn't extremely busy like other eating establishments around town, so you can get a table right away. Then again, doesn't that say something about this bar and grill?

Get the chicken nachos....they're stupid good! Burgers....alright, nothing great though. Ribs are delicious and they have wild rice at this place, my favorite. They also have all the beers a guy would want. As of Feb. 2012 this is by far the best food in Williston. Don't you dare go to Applebees.....the food there is pathetic. If I get one more order of cold wings.......well,......I don't know what's I'd do but it wouldn't be good. Speaking of wings, Big Wills also does a good job on those too!

[8D] Out from Bend Oregon, doing a little work and a little caching. Life is all about maintaining balance. This establishment is at the far ends of the earth, and the food was great, the service was great, and the staff extremely friendly. I had the meatloaf and it is up in the top 3 that I have ever had. Yum. The beer is the normal stuff but then they pulled an IPA out of the hat for me. Not as good as Bend Oregon's IPAs but not bad. Finished off with a glass of wine. I can tell you they don't skimp there. Nice pour. I think the whiners are thinking that they are in NYC or something. You need to go with the flow when traveling and what is good in the area.

Located inside the HomStay hotel, Big Willy's has been done before. Like most restaurants in Williston...they leave much to be desired. Sadly, this one is lumped into that category. The food is average bar food. Alright burgers, fries, and overcooked steak. The service is okay and the place is clean...but you won't write home about anything that you eat or drink there. I'm giving them that third star because the effort is there...it just doesn't translate.

I went here for the first time this week with some family and friends. I went with the mushroom and Swiss burger, which came with fries ($13.99, $2 more for a side house salad). I think it was decent, it was very hot and cooked well, they even ask you how you want it cooked--just like a steak. It comes on a nice kind of bun, and the fries were tasty. I got sweet tea for a drink ($2.49), and although I was very thirsty, it didn't quite hit the spot, it tasted like it needed a bit more sugar. The rest of my party shared jalapeño wontons (I tried one, and it was okay, but I'm not into jalapeños), and the nachos appetizer. They had a lot left over, partly because it comes on a big plate, but mainly because they didn't really like them. They said there was very little meat and the chips weren't good. However, they also got some chocolate cake for dessert and they seemed to enjoy it. We went at dinner time, and it was loud and busy, and our server was nice, yet kinda pushy. Overall, it was a decent experience for me, although the rest of my party did not seem overly impressed.

Nice atmosphere, newly built. I had the fish tacos. I liked them. The service was prompt and cheerful. They have a very nice outdoor patio, but unfortunately it's not full service. I will go back.

Pretty good food. Fries aren't very good. They always taste like they have been sitting around a while. But its a solid place overall.

Great atmosphere, great food, especially for Williston! I'm a big fan, and defiantly returning for those garlic smashed potatoes. I had the salmon with dill sauce, cooked to perfection. Margarita was made to perfection as well. The service was okay.

The food is great for Williston, but a little pricy. Staff is always friendly but it's a small restaurant, there's usually a wait. Can't blame them too much though, it's Williston!

Nice place to go that's clean, but the food wasn't that good. I shared a Frac Attack with a friend on my first visit which had hamburger, chili, bacon, cheese, fried onion, french fries, toasted bread and some other stuff on it, but the burger meat didn't taste right to me. I know the difference between good or bad meat. It didn't make my stomach sick, but it was wrong. I won't eat a burger there again however, the fries were seasoned so I might do that. I went back for a second visit the following week with another friend and we had the chicken nacho appetizer. The chips were bagged and not fresh but the seasoning in the chicken was tasty. Nothing too special but the only other option for a place that doesn't make you feel like you're in the boonies is Applebees and I haven't been there as of yet. The service here is friendly. Prices are a bit on the higher side for the quality of food being served. The beer is a safe thing to order both bottled or tap. It's always busy so I suggest if you're solo to go sit around the bar. They open at 4 and I believe they stay open until 1am if they remain busy. That could vary based on Fr/Sa business. They have outdoor seating when the weather is good but bring your sunglasses. Not much shade out there.

Good food and service. Got take out and noticed some food sitting too long to be delivered. For Williston, ND, a great place to eat.

Decided to come here for dinner and there were no tables. We sat at the bar and immediately the waitress was rude (maybe because I was the only female at the bar?) Oddly enough she was very nice to every single man at the bar. The salad was awful. I could have gone to Walmart and opened bought one of those salad kits in a bag and done better. Steak was okay. Waitress messed up the checks. All in all I'd never go back.

Just love it when the boss calls and says "Be in North Dakota tomorrow" when I'm 3 hours from home with no clean clothes waiting there. Luckily it worked out and I found a flight the next day into Williston, ND. Ended up next door at the Candlewood Suites for a few days. Saw the menu in the room and realized it was right next door, so called an order of chicken nachos to go. Nice interior, very crowded, but good service (a bit slow, around 5 minutes shouldn't mean 15). I noticed the ratio of guys with ball caps or trucker hats was about 50/50. Not terribly noisy for a Saturday night. I got the chicken nachos to go. Not impressed. Really dry multi-grain chips topped with of a ton of shredded lettuce. By the time I actually found the dry shredded chicken and un-melted cheese I was done (I mean, half the point of good nachos is when you pick up 1 chip and 2 or 3 more are stuck together with all kinds of stuff). Decided to give them another try tonight. I got a mushroom burger and fries to go. Almost the same atmosphere as last night. OK, they redeemed themselves with the burger and fries. The burger was cooked just as I asked, and the fries were very tasty. One touch I liked is that they put the burger on top of wax paper with the pickle, lettuce and onion underneath (I'm not a pickle fan so errant pickle juice annoys me. I'd go back tomorrow but with the recent oil field work boom I have to change hotels.

I would agree with other comments that the food is mediocre and overpriced, but there aren't many options at night in Williston. The service was friendly. I ordered a 12 oz ribeye ($28.95), rare with the vegetable medley on a SEPARATE plate. I abhor vegetables (giving them to my date) and am a bit quirky about my food (I don't like it to touch, yes, I'm a weirdo). I was very clear that it needed to be served on a separate plate but it was served not only on the same plate, but nearly ON my ribeye. I could only eat the portions of steak that weren't touching the vegetables. The server was apologetic immediately upon serving the food- she knew it wasn't what I ordered. I know better than to order a ribeye at a bar, but I really wanted a steak. It was good, but the vegetable issue put my quirkiness on display, so it wasn't the most positive experience. I will return, but will probably try a burger next time. I've given up on finding a quiet and nice meal in Williston. I was very thankful to find a place other than Applebee's open for a later meal though- we drove all over town looking for a place to have dinner... by the time we found Big Willy's, it was 9:00 pm.

If you are in Williston this is the best Resturant I have found in the area. It is small so be sure to get their early. They tend to run out of some food before the end of the night. I have been very impressed with the meat loaf, real mashed potatoes, salmon, mixed veggies, and the chicken quesadilla. Granted, there are not many place to eat in this town but I feel this is the best on around. Fortunately I was staying in he hotel so several times I would order and bring the food back to my room since seating is limited and people tend to stay for a long time since there is nothing else to do in the town. I would recommend.

My husband and I went there because Missouri doesn't serve food on Sunday and we were pleasantly surprised! Super clean and very friendly staff! Food portions are huge we wish we would have shared dinner! Cool because you can see into the kitchen with booths and tall & short cafe tables & bar seating. Flatscreens all around. A bit loud but a great fun atmosphere.

Amazing food, service is quite good. But the noise!!!!! Holy hell it gets reaaaally noisy in there now that more people are discovering this place... The feta dip was amazing, as was the cajun chicken pasta.

This place is LOUD, not exactly the place you want to go for an intimate date on a kid-free night. It's not a family friendly place, so be aware of that, but the service is fast and friendly, and the place is clean. The food is average, but there is a wide range of choices. The drinks are strong, but I suppose a lot of people like that!

One of the best places I have found in Williston as far as food goes. Mostly bar food and not the worlds largest menu, but they do it well. I have eaten here a few times and haven't had a bad meal yet. I suggest the chicken sandwich and the black and bleu burger. It gets kinda crowded with oilfield workers but thats to be expected in Williston.

This is the only place in town that you can get good food, good cocktails, and good service. We have been there at least a dozen times and have never had any complaint.

In a city like Williston, ND you don't expect to find a lot when it comes to nightlife and good food, but Big Willie's was a pleasant surprise. Two of us were able to find great dishes on the menu, and the bartender was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the ribs with a cold martini! Not sure we'll ever be back to Williston, but would look for this place again, for sure.
