The staff here is wonderful . It's a team effort here , where it feels like the entire staff is constantly waiting on you . Wonderful service I've tried several of the dishes here The gyoza ( potstickers ) are excellent The Mongolian beef is excellent , although a bit spicier than I've had it before .. But I love it ( if you like spicy , you'll like it) The tempura shrimp and veggies are really good Sweet and sour chicken was good , but a little bit too breaded for me The teriyaki beef was also very good The tempura ice cream and mochi are also delicious. Overall , I keep coming back to try new things and I haven't found anything that I disliked .

Dinner on a Monday early, 5pm: Welcoming staff, great service, our complete dinner was served 5min after ordering. Awkward booth though- the table was above my chest. I'd ask for a table & chairs next time. Immediate drinks. Tasty egg drop soup. Two flavorless spring rolls were presented beautifully with an excellent peanut sauce. Each piece of the roll contained only 1 butterflied shrimp=4 total. DH loved his combo fried rice with chicken, beef, & 3 shrimp. I'd eat there again.

Top of the line, top notch staff, and adequately priced for the quality of fresh, delicious fish this far from the ocean. I was originally skeptical of a sushi fusion restaurant so far from the coast, but I went and had an absolutely amazing time. The rainbow roll was fantastic. The environment is calm and a little dark, as it's supposed to be. They have an ample selection of imported and domestic alcohol, as well. I was only able to go 4 times in my 3 months in Williston, but I'm not lying when I almost consider it worth it to fly back just to eat there. Don't believe me? Just try it.

Amazing sushi, or maybe just the only good sushi around. Good staff, friendly, good with kids as well.

Wow, well to start I just got to Williston this afternoon and I started to scope out places to eat once I settled in. I saw Basil sushi and I thought it was going to be a joke because really? Great Sushi in the middle of the states? Well I read all the awesome reviews and gave it a shot and I was not let down. I had salmon sashimi and a Cali roll to play it safe. Holy moly the salmon was so fresh and cut so thick. I don't even get that kind of sushi in Portland right on the ocean! I am so impressed. I will most definitely be visiting a few more times before I have to go back home!

Service is excellent. Food is excellent. Prices are very reasonable considering the high cost of Williston, especially if you take in to account the high quality fish they are bringing in. Favorite place in town, hands down. Also, the owners are incredibly genuine and are always around working the restaurant. Made (ma-day) is awesome too!

Had sushi to go. It was pretty good and packaged well for the ride. We'll go back again and try dining in.

Excellent fresh fish. Basal is slightly more expensive than the other sushi places in Williston, but you can taste it in the quality of their fish- well worth the money!

I love this place! At first I was torn and couldn't decide if it was just all the hype of having sushi in Williston or if it really was fantastic. It's great because I moved to Denver and miss it! The owner is really sweet and wants you to try everything! The manager is also very nice and remembered me and what I love to order! The baked mussels are very good. The firecracker roll is my all time favorite! I loved the Vegas and Rainbow roll as well! As far as meals go I always go with the traditional chicken lo mein but add veggies and spice it up, so good. The prices are high but that's consistent with everything else in Williston. There's not a lot that I miss about Williston but Basil is one of them :)

Let me give it to you straight...you will not find better food in Williston! (And you won't have to wait an hour just to order!) My husband and I always ordered the sesame chicken and mongolian beef. We regularly got the chicken fried rice and sushi rolls for take-out. The staff is always friendly and professional. Try the Cream Cheese Wontons and the Jalepeno Tempura. You can thank me later. =)

The best calamari i ever try , great service , fresh fish, also only place i can find my vietnamese coffee n thai tea in williston

I had the Vegas roll and it was fantastic. Best sushi in Williston. Hot and sour soup is my favorite. Cheese wonton appetizer is a great start to the meal.

I have to admit I was hesitant to try sushi during my business trip to Williston. Sushi in North Dakota? It came recommended by someone I was working with, so I tried it. The sushi was very good, nothing I would expect up here. The only reason I took a tar was because of the price. For myself, two rolls, it was forty dollars. Quite expensive--if it wasn't on the company's dime, I wouldn't have paid those prices.

Great service. Someone at the door to great you. Always with a smiling face. Food in general is great! Love the Singapore noodles. Reminds me of my grandmas cooking. Im not a big sushi eater, so I am very picky. I do not care for their sushi.. however everyone else does. Their calamari is to die for. Yum Yum and their cheese and crab wontons. Be careful... they have coat hooks on the end of their booths. Its a good gesture however easy to bump into and receive a huge bruise. Take it from me... and my friend. It hurts! All in all. I love the quick service, friendly face and the quality of food they serve

Food is always good and fresh. Great carryout service - nicely packaged with utensils and sauces - and their staff is friendly and efficient. Tempura options are always a little limp, even when eating in, but still taste great. The salt and pepper calamari in particular is excellent - you have to eat it WITH the salad, really! - and their Mongolian beef is the perfect level of spicy. (Everyone in my office is also a big fan.) My girlfriend loves the Japanese udon and I am a huge fan of their Singapore mei-fun and Hong Kong beef chow-fun. Very solid selection, great service, and consistent, tasty food. Definitely grateful they came to Williston.

Inconsistent Quality, Tiny Portions, Overpriced. I've been to Basil four or five times since it opened. I really do want to like this restaurant and have approached it with an open mind. During my first visit, I ordered the Kung Pao fish. There was very little fish in the dish, and what there was tasted stale and spoiled. I've never had such a bad seafood experience but I was willing to try Basil again because it's a popular place. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken my next two times. The food was relatively tasty and the sauces are excellent. The food was well cooked and seemed fresh this time, but the portion sizes were about as tiny as I've seen in any Chinese/Asian restaurant. I'd estimate about 2-3 ounces of actual meat, the rest was vegetables. When you consider that most these entrees are about $15 before tax and tip, this is one of the worst values in the Williston area -- and that's saying a lot. There are many mediocre and overpriced places, but at least you leave them well feeling full, but not at Basil.

Food and service were both excellent! Out of the norm for this area where they have no idea what customer service is. A little pricy but don't mind paying for the service and like I said the sushi was excellent.
(5)Posey S.
Ate here & it was good. We will definitely go here again!
(4)Brittany J.
Aside from the food being amazing, the staff is one of the sweetest and most engaging I have ever seen in the Williston. They are all so lively, fun, and sweet to be around. Basil, is indeed the best food establishment in the Bakken area I have ever witnessed in my time of living here.

Flew in from NY had dinner in this charming well decorated resteruant . The food was mmm so good and presented in a well appointed plate. I had the White mountain which was delisicious with its crunchy ness and yummy crab, shrimp to die for meal. I would have to compare the Basil Sushi bar & Aisn Fusion to the Bamboo in Portland. You have to try this out if your in Williston, ND Leroy B

Great atmosphere to relax and enjoy a very well cooked meal. I usually like sitting at the sushi bar so I can watch the art of making sushi. The combo fried rice is what I love to eat most of the time, be careful though it's a large plate. Their calamari is the best in town. If you are looking to impress a guest, come here.
(4)Dustin H.
Definitely the best sushi in this southern Canadian arctic wasteland. Williston doesn't have the greatest restaurants, but Basil has never disappointed.

I will break this down into four parts. I have been there twice, and I will go back.. but I will be selective with what I get. Sushi - MAYBE 2 stars. More like 1. The rolls are small.. and just nothing spectacular. The taste is marginal and they could do a lot better with the sushi (maybe not though, considering they are in North Dakota). If they work on their sushi.. I would give this place 4-5 stars considering its location. Appetizers - They are good. I have had the egg rolls and pot stickers. Both were delicious. Noodles - This is where they make their money. Their noodles are on point! I will continue to go back because these are actually some of the best noodle bowls I have ever had.. and I have had noodle bowls all around the world. Atmosphere - The restaurant is very nice considering it is located in a small oil boom town. The staff is excellent and most hail from Indonesia. They keep your water filled and stay accessible if you have any questions or need anything.

This is my second time here. I am so impressed with the cleanliness and great sushi. I will be honest, I was a bit afraid to have Japanese- more or less - sushi up here in Williston. But both times have been great! The salmon sashimi was excellent and good quality. I had a regular spicy tuna roll which was just as good as my sushi rolls back in Denver. I will definitely be trying the more complex rolls next time!

Decided to eat some sushi before class and made a big mistake. Sushi here was definitely expensive, and I don't like cream cheese, so I opted for the lunch special, the chicken pad thai. The egg roll was cold , the rice was about the same. The chicken pad thai was the worst thing I have ever eaten at a restaurant. I couldn't even finish one bite before spitting it out in my napkin. Will never go back. The servers were nice. In hindsight, I should've had them take a bite of it.

Just had an amazing lunch at Basil Sushi Bar. My husband and I are from the San Francisco bay area and are accustomed to great sushi and Basil did not disappoint! Food was amazing, service was great and the atmosphere was relaxing. Could not have asked for a better experience in Williston, ND. The rainbow roll was so good my husband to have a second and the tempura roll was great!
(5)Someone W.
Very pleased with the service here. Other servers waiting other tables kept checking in on us and we're very accommodating. The ambiance is BEAUTIFUL. last but not least, the food is delicious and we'll plated. I just moved here from WA state and never would I have thought a place like this would be here. I will definitely be back soon.

As a big fan of ethnic food, I had to face the reality that living in Williston meant having to make all my favorite foods at home. Any restaurant that may offer my favorite dishes was going to be awful and use frozen and cheap ingredients. Then Basil opened. I love sushi and have missed it immensely, nowhere in Williston made real sushi. Now I can go to Basil and order the Ichiban roll and be in complete bliss. They clearly use fresh ingredients (a feat of it's own considering how it's not easy to get fresh ingredients here), their soups are delicious, their entrees have great flavor, and the staff is friendly and attentive. It's like eating in a normal town instead of eating in Williston. They're priced like most restaurants in the area, the Ichiban roll is going to run you $20 but it is worth it!! Plus, it will definitely feed at least 2 people. They do not have a kids menu though. Unfortunately my daughter is not as adventurous with her food as my husband and I are. If we go she will eat the white rice or the lo mein but that's it.

Im from portland oregon. And I LOVE quality sushi like no ones buisness. Definitly the best food ive had in north dakota. And amazing atmosphere. Great place for a date night. Or in my case a tasty dinner solo. I love sushi!
(5)Carrie H.
The tempura Cali roll is great! The crab roll was good, but didnt have much rice, so seemed a little unbalanced, flavor-wise. The massaman curry was wonderful and very flavorful! The service and staff has been great every time I've been there. Always helpful and very friendly!
(4)Nikki G.
Friendly and attentive service. The food was delicious! The dragon roll looked absolutely beautiful. I will definitely go again!
(4)Judy C.
I just moved here form the Atlanta, GA area and was looking for sushi. I was happy to find this place. The décor was pretty and the food was very good. The best part of the meal (went at lunch) was the staff. They are wonderful! I have rarely had such wonderful service. I have dined at 5 star restaurants and have not received the service I did here. This is a must for all that love Asian and sushi!
(4)Treasure H.
As Heidi B. stated in her review, it is true, you will not find better food in Williston! Everything about this place is top notch! I ordered the Singapore Noodles and they were delicious! Try this place out, you will not be disappointed.
(5)Natalee M.
Amazing! You won't be disappointed, the food is so much better than I expected for the area, some of the best Asian food and sushi I've ever had. The service is even better than the food. Sit at the bar, take a few hours to eat, talk to everyone, have a saki bomb, try the calimari, indulge in it all, it is the best dining experience I've had in a long time. Thank you Basil just for being here!
(5)Aaron P.
This place is good for Williston. The service is really good, very attentive staff. I would probably give the sushi 1 or 2 stars, its pretty bad. I definitely would NOT come here for sushi. The other food I've had here has been decent. Definitely the best asian food in Williston by far.
(3)Seth B.
Exellent value, great sushi, phenomenol prices. It helps that they're three blocks from the train station so I can get my sushi on on my way out of town. Dine in or eat out, this is a Williston keystone of dining.
(5)Jeff Y.
I'm from California, I'm used to excellent sushi. I had doubts about this place mainly because it's in Williston, but I was mistaken, this restaurant would do great even in California. The decor is nice, the staff friendly, and the food excellent. Almost makes you forget you're in Williston.
(5)Jacob R.
This place is great for williston. Great lunch specials. Good sushi and delicious apps. Prices are a little high but worth it.
(5)Job E.
I really loved this place. Excellent food, low prices, great service and owner she is smiling all the time and friendly. I recommend this place to the people who really wants taste good food. I can say it is the only place around Williston, North Dakota which I fell in love :)
(5)Derrick M.
Food is excellent and the price is right:):). Very good service for only being open for two days!
