I created a Yelp account solely to review this restaurant. When we walked in and sat down our waitress came and plopped down our menus and then asked what we wanted. I'm used to being welcomed into an establishment and being introduced to my waitress by name but that's not what happened here. The music was all over the place. It was a mix of modern pop and 50s music, it didn't make for a comfortable environment. I then noticed on their menu it read "breakfast served until 8pm" I asked the waitress about the time because I knew they were only open until 4:30. She snarled "I don't know, I've only been working here for two days." Okay so, poor service, it's whatever. After what seemed like a ridiculous wait, we received our food. My breakfast meal was mediocre at best. My husbands "philly steak sandwich" was served incorrectly and had to be sent back, not only that but it wasn't even steak, it was roast beef! So all in all, the food was mediocre, the coffee was water, the service was terrible and we paid for overpriced food in a terrible environment. Also, they say if you review them on facebook or yelp you'll get $1 off your next purchase - they can keep my dollar because I won't be returning.

Charlie's looks very nice since its remodeling. As ever, the waitstaff are all very nice, with refills at the ready. It is a nice place to stop for lunch or breakfast if you're in downtown Minot. A diner specialising in American dishes, their crinkle fries are always crisp, and the coffee bottomless. This latter feature makes it a nice spot to sit and chat. While the prices seem to be on the higher end for diner fare, it's actually comparable to other, similar establishments in town. Anyway, I recommend their cole slaw.

Before Charlie's remodeled I had walked in for the first time and immediately turned around and left. It did not look like a place I wanted to eat at ever. They have since remodeled I decided to give it a shot since it did not look like it had not been cleaned in 20 years. I ordered a basic breakfast of hash browns, eggs, and biscuits and gravy. Much to my surprise it all came out on one large plate with the biscuits stacked on top of my eggs and hash browns. My food was pretty substandard and kind of bland tasting. I did not care much for the biscuits and gravy, I added a lot of salt and pepper to my food - which I usually do not do. It had no real flavor and everything ended up being soggy. The portions are huge, which I imagine is why it is on the higher priced side, but I would have rather gone to the truck stop or Kroll's for breakfast.

Not bad, not good. This place kind of defines average. If you happen to be downtown and just need a place to eat, it's ok. But I wouldn't go out of my way to find it. Also their hours are pretty limited, they are pretty much only open for breakfast and lunch and the prices are on the higher end for what's essentially very basic diner food. I've been here a few times for breakfast and lunch simply because I go to so many other places in the downtown area and its easier to walk here than fight with traffic or parking. The only memorable thing I've had there are the milk shakes which were pretty good, but expensive for how small they are.

Charlie's has been recently remodeled and it looks great! I have been there both before and after the remodel for breakfast. The food has always been good and I like that they leave a whole pot of coffee on the table. Sometimes service is slow but always friendly. The breakfast portions are good size.

I'm from Ohio where the same breakfast would cost 2.99 compared to the 7.95 I paid.The food was very good and I like how they just gave you ot of coffee instead of just a waitress coming back and back.Besides the high price I say go and have a nice breakfast with very decent portions of food

The perfect All-American diner. Breakfast was better than expected with friendly wait staff. I travel a lot and try to support the local Mom and Pop places. I avoid nation chains if at all possible. This place was right out of central casting when you think of an old downtown diner. I had a late breakfast so I missed the crowd.

Came in for breakfast on a weekend I was working. It wasn't that crowded but my meal took 45mins to arrive. The food was average. Probably won't return as the food didn't make up for the lengthy wait.
