I'll be honest I didn't expect to find a Brazilian steakhouse in Mandan ND. But this is as good as any other I have been to. The service is excellent and the food is very good. The wait staff is very attentive and you will be treated well. The restaurant is located in the old downtown area. It's situated on Main street in a converted retail shop. It has a great atmosphere, with art for sale from local artists. They have a great selection of beers also, which is great for a steak place. Looking at the wine selection it looked very comprehensive also, but I'm more of a beer guy. I can recommend this restaurant to all.

Great food and great service. Loved chatting with the owner and his wife. Teresa was very enjoyable and kept everything moving along perfectly.

Absolutely outstanding. I'll have to admit that I was pretty hesitant - a Brazilian BBQ in Mandan? Walking in my spirits were certainly not lifted as it appears they they gutted out an old shoe store or something and filled it with tables. Then the menu arrived and I saw the price - $34 for the full service. But I worked through my initial thoughts and ordered the full BBQ - and I'm glad I did. Initially, I thought my server was a little unfriendly but she must have been rushed at first because she and the rest of the staff turned out to be fabulous. The owner/manager stopped by the table frequently to check on food and service. And the food? Fantastic! The buffet was loaded and very appealing but I was able to control myself in order to save myself for the reason you go to Brazilian BBQs - the meat. And the meat we plentiful, hot, well cooked and absolutely delicious. I've been to a number of Brazilian BBQs throughout the country but this was probably the best overall experience I've had in one. The food was excellent and the service was attentive and very personable. I would HIGHLY recommend a night here if you are in Bismarck or Mandan. And don't forget to try a Caipirinha (or three) they are incredibly refreshing.

All the meat here tastes like gas. The salad bar is terrible and is missing a lot of staple Brazilian dishes. I would not recommend this restaurant especially at that price.

What a gem in an unexpected place! Having lived in Brazil, I was thrilled to find this place (probably the only Brazilian restaurant in North Dakota) and even more thrilled to find out the owners are Brazilian. Harvest didn't disappoint! The rodizio (meat) is steady, varied and delicious. The black beans are to die for! The ambiance is pleasant. The staff are so friendly and hospitable, especially Edgar, the delightful owner. This place is highly, highly recommended!

MEAT SWORDS!!! There is a plate you pay $34(I think), They're kind of spendy, but totally worth it. They have people walking around with "meat swords" (skewers with freshly cooked meat) and you can eat till your heart's content. Tasty!

Ok. I was skeptical as well. I have been to several churrascarias in large cities in the US including my favorite, Fogo de Chao. However, for Mandan, this place was pretty darn good. The food was abundant, authentic and reasonably priced. The service was excellent. They have a nice wine list. The owner is Brazilian so that probably explains the quality. Seniors get the "full BBQ" experience for $20 and the kids price was 7.50. Adults are $35. Nice place to sit and visit. The only thing is the restaurant is in a large old open room with a tall ceiling so a little bit of an odd setting but unique. Used to be an old department store or dance hall. I would have to say this is probably the best restaurant in Mandan, North Dakota.

UPDATE: The review I wrote a couple years ago was 5 stars. I've revised and taken off one star because they've changed the menu and removed a couple of the best cuts of meat. I still go there and really like it but that is disappointing. -------- The interior space here is fantastic. I'm told it is a carefully restored JC Penny Building from the late 1800's. It is huge, with two-story (maybe higher) ceilings, pounded tin roof, great hardwood floors, etc. It is very well appointed; if you appreciate historic buildings you will love it. The food is excellent. I've eaten the Brazilian meat thing in several restaurants in different parts of the country, usually in Washington DC, and this was the best I've ever had. It is seasoned perfectly and tastes wonderful. The service here is great. They have such a nice wait staff. I have two slight dings on the place, neither of which is enough to lower my five-star rating (well, I'd probably rate it a 4.5 if I had that option). Mild ding #1: it is a bit loud. They should put down some area rugs or fabric wall hangings of some type to take put some of the echo. One of our party was a bit hard of hearing and struggled with the noise level. Mild ding #2: most of their meat is cooked at least medium if not medium-well. I prefer rare to medium-rare, but I think this is simply a reflection of the tastes of their clientele. The wait staff is so nice that whenever I asked if they had anything more on the rare side, they made a special trip to the kitchen to find some. If you like meat give this place a try!

I must begin this review by directing you to read Pam C's. Having been to Brazil I can relate to her comments, however this is ND! LOL. Ok, so here's my thoughts on the place. 1. I am SO glad Mandan has a destination. Although I live in Bismarck, Mandan has such promise, but they can't seem to get over their small-town mentality. You would think that having so many residents living in Bismarck would have some sort of positive influence (wait, Bismarck seems to have similar problems, so never mind). 2. The servers are young men, who are pretty cool. Ask them for a different meat temperature and they will try their best to get it to you quickly. They COMPLETELY ignore the 'stop-go' serving cards, in a great way. They keep coming around! I have been to many of these style restaurants and most are big on pushing cheaper veggies but not so here. 3. The owner is on-site and makes the rounds. Well, at least when we have been here. I like that. 4. Their non-Brazilian BBQ dishes are very good. I particularly liked their ragu (head and shoulders better than what you get at the Toasted Frog). My only complaint was mentioned in another posting as well. The meat is really over-seasoned. I suspect that when the skewer makes it back to the kitchen, it is put back over the fire and the chef sprinkles the cut areas with more seasoning. To get around this, I instructed the servers to cut a thin slice and then a thicker slice behind the first cut. I also talked to the owner about this and, fingers crossed, this will be corrected. Some people have complained about the price. From a macro perspective, meal prices are very reasonable. What skews them a bit is the $34 for the full Brazilian BBQ. I think it is worth it, as you get rib-eye, NY strip, sirloin cap, pork, chicken, sausage, etc. Probably not a weekly visit, but a couple times a month, for sure! I do like the idea of adding ND-inspired meats though. Bison, elk, rabbit, pheasant, etc. would be pretty cool and move it up another notch in my estimation. To the owner: If you ever do go for an idea like this, recognize these cuts of meat are generally much leaner and therefore dry out quicker.

so i laid off of going to HBG for awhile. they discontinued the lombo sandwich that i loved so much, but the steaks and other dishes still rock. I am especially fond of the desserts. They are made by a bonafide pastry chef with good chops. I'm still a little wishy washy on the ambiance. the space is just huge for the number of patrons. but you never have to feel crowded, all though it seems like a good place for a crowd. My associates do rave about the BBQ. Its worth dropping in on them.

I have not been there for dinner yet but their lunch sanwiches are delicious. The Spicy Meat sandwich is well worth going! The owners and servers are very nice and friendly too. Definitely worth visiting. Cant wait to try their dinners.

Amazing to have a Brazilian Grill here in Mandan! Well done. The salad bar is reasonable while the black beans and rice are top notch. The pork and chicken were our favorite non-beef meats. The cap top sirloin and the rib eye were truly exceptional!! A number of items were a bit over seasoned, but with great taste. And the desserts... Oh my. The chocolate mousse was to die for. I would go there just for that. The raspberry cheesecake was really good too. Overall a pricey evening but well worth it.
