Based on the other reviews, this must've been an "off" night. We were seated at a table with an obviously dirty tablecloth, which didn't seem to bother the server or manager. The samosas were tasteless; the entrees were ok; the naan was very good. They were hosting a larger party in part of the restaurant, so perhaps they were distracted. I've been here for the lunch buffet, which we really enjoyed, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars.

Oh my, I was happily surprised to find a restaurant in Fargo that prepares everything fresh from their kitchen. Every dish we had was just amazing and very high quality. Succulent meats and delicious sauces. The lamb seemed to be well trimmed of fat. We ordered :: Meat Samosa (lamb) Chicken tikka masala Lamb korma Garlic naan This will be my go to restaurant in Fargo. My only wish is that offered chicken biryani.

Delicious food, easily the best Indian food in Fargo, most likely North Dakota. Service is always excellent and willing to offer suggestions. With an Indian fiancée and in-laws, I have had my share of Indian food. The food here is some of the best I've had, especially the lamb briyani. A lot of heat and flavor with excellent tender lamb. The raita you can add to the rice ifnit gets too hot.

This is, hands down, the best Indian restaurant in Fargo. I'm Never disappointed with my order here. Everything is authentic and the staff is friendly and helpful. I could eat here every day! Their chutney sauces are delicious with the garlic naan bread. Yum yum yum!

Outstanding dinner for party of eight. Really great service, helped the novices order and perfect portions. Lamb Saag and other dishes all excellent. Amazing for a town the size of Fargo. I'd go every week if I lived here.

Best Indian food in Fargo! Lunch buffet is a great deal because the quality is great, and they switch it up everyday! Very friendly staff, too.

If you get their lunch buffet, which has historically been set at $10, it doesn't get much better. Includes naan, daily soup, two desserts, chai tea, and multiple sauces, vegetable sides, rice dishes and about 8-10 entrees. Which are all delicious. Also, fried lentil patties or other crunchy fare is usually provided. Yum! I think this is the best Indian Buffet in Fargo, and definitely satisfies my cravings.

The best Indian Restaurant so far in both Montana and North Dakota! I had the Vegetarian Platter, everything was fresh and hot. I love this restaurant, and I will keep coming every time I am in town.

Buffet was small, but sufficient; it had most of the favorites - butter chicken (though chicken tikka masala would have been better), tandoori, palak paneer, lentils, naan, goat with rice and different things like hot and sour soup and these really dense little pieces of bread that were really good and a carrot curry. I didn't expect to get good Indian food anywhere in the Midwest, but I was pleasantly surprised! I didn't eat very much so I didn't really get my buffet's worth, but it satiated my taste buds so it did the job. :) The chicken pieces in the butter chicken could have been bigger; I had to do the ole scoop and drain from the serving spoon in order to get any meat. :/ And no rice pudding gets a point off. They have a cute little area where they sell Indian foods, which is cool. They didn't fill up my water obsessively like they usually do at Indian restaurants, however, they didn't really fill it up at all, haha.

Grade A authentic Indian cuisine in FM area. Make sure to stop over for lunch buffet if you like variety of food or simply do not know what to order.

Staffs and services were great!! Appetizers were good but entrees were not not so great. My vindaloo had too much lemon juice. Lamb biryani was okey.

Pretty impressed with this lil restaurant in this lil town. I knew it was legit when i walked in and saw their own people filling the place. Who would of thought authentic Indian food in Fargo? I had the Lamb Pepper Fry with Garlic Naan and a side of rice. The lamb was tender and the spices linger. So if you're faint on the heat...beware. I like it spicy so i added rooster sauce. (Probably pay for it later.) Naan was perfectly cooked...fluffy with a light crunch on the ends. Price was reasonable: $17 bill.

Went there for the first time tonight and it was an ok meal. The best part was the chicken vindaloo. It was much better there than other Indian restaurants in Fargo. The nan was pretty good too, but strangely each piece was a little bit different...one was thin and crispy (bordering on burnt), one a bit thicker on one end and thinner and crispy on another end, and the other pieces were thicker and doughier. The rice too tasty oily. I did end up eating all of my meal, so it wasn't like it was bad...just not quite as good as other Indian I've had.

I have never been a fan if Indian food, but I was really impressed. The buffet wasn't large but there was a variety of food that made it easy to pick a great lunch. Staff was very friendly and even answered questions while we were trying to figure out all the sauces.

Over the course of a few visits I've just never been wowed by any of my dishes and find even with something like naan the quality can vary pretty widely. It isn't a bad meal but isn't something I would go out of my way to recommend.

I come all the way from Grand Forks to eat at this restaurant. I literally count down the days tip I can eat here again! The restaurant is clean, the service is friendly and attentive, and the food is very good considering we are in North Dakota. If you like Indian food do not miss their buffet! Also, many items made without gluten for celiacs to enjoy.

I will preface this review by saying that I would definitely return and had a pleasing experience overall, but the reasons Passage to India gets three stars rather than four or five in my book are as follows: 1. My family and I went there for lunch. The buffet was running but we prefer to order from the menu, just to ensure hot, freshly cooked food. We ordered the vegetarian appetizer platter, and the server brought it to us FROM THE BUFFET! The food was cold and limp and had obviously been sitting at the buffet for a while. When I explained that we ordered from the menu because we wanted our food freshly made and that the platter was cold, he acted coldly toward and and left without saying a word. We were served hot food ten minutes later. 2. I LOVE lassis, the tradition Indian yogurt-based drink. I ordered the sweet lassi at Passage to India, and it was also, quite obviously, OLD. It was lumpy as if it had been hanging out for several days. Blech. I didn't mention anything about this to the server or to my family as I had already complained enough with reactions that unfortunately made me feel somewhat embarrassed. Needless to say, I won't be ordering a lassi there again. Despite those failures, we really enjoyed our entrees there. Being the only (?) Indian restaurant in the area, they should step up their service and quality rather than relying on the lack of competition to bring people in.

One of my top 5 favorite Indian places so far, and in Fargo, ND of all places! They have a great buffet and is reasonably priced. They have a wide variety of vegetarian options, and the flavor is wonderful. They seem to close often in the winter without notice, but it is worth visiting if you have the chance. The tables are clean, and the atmosphere is quiet. It is usually pretty empty but they have a lot of space for large groups. The samosas are wonderful and the food is authentic. When I lived here, I ate here weekly and have never had a bad experience. I came back a year after I moved away and had a reunion lunch here, and it was still as good as I remembered!

As a newly transplanted LA native to North Dakota, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this little Indian restaurant in Fargo. Coming from an area known for its vast assortment of ethnic and specialty foods, I know what good Indian food tastes like. And Passage to India is probably as close as it can get in North Dakota. The ambiance was very welcoming: loud bollywood movies playing on multiple screens, the smell of spices mixing in the air, and let's be real here--- actual Indian employees, made it almost feellike home. I went for the lunch buffet, and the dishes that really exceeded my expectations were: -Tandoori chicken -Lamb Korma -Cheese Paratha -Garlic Naan I would easily make the 1 hour drive to Fargo for this Indian food if I were craving it.

Being from California, I tend to prefer foods with some spice and bold flavor. Passage to India fits that bill. I have been here many times. I have ordered off the menu, but the thing to do is come for lunch during the week, or on Saturday and get the buffet. Unlike many of the Asian restaurants in the area, the buffet here is excellent; the food is always hot and fresh. The food at Passage to India varies in spiciness, so you can always find something you will like. My favorite, predictably, is probably the chicken tika masala, but their tandoori chicken is really good, too. It can be a bit pricey if you order off the menu, which is why I suggest the buffet - that, and the variety of food you can taste. I have eaten at many different Indian restaurants in California but, personally, I think Passage to India is offers the best Indian cuisine I have ever had, so far. At many places, the food on the buffet is floating in grease. Not so, here. I would definitely eat here again, as i have many times before.

I've had a number of dishes on the menu, and I have enjoyed them all. Vindaloo, madras curry, biryani. The biryanis are the standout dish for me. The white sauce (not sure what it's called) is tangy and perfectly complements the spice in the rice. I haven't been disappointed with any of the curries, either. And the appetizers are always good. I tend to gravitate towards the spicier appetizers and haven't been disappointed.

I have lived in Fargo almost my whole life and I've driven past Passage to India many times. After hearing some great things about the place, I decided to give it a try tonight with my wife. I am seriously disappointed that I waited this long to give it a try. The food was absolutely outstanding. We had the Lamb Roganjosh, the Malai Methi Murgh (Chicken) and 2 orders of garlic Naan. The portion size, although it looks small at first, was perfect. They don't give you the over-sized portions that most US restaurants do, but that's a good thing! We both left satisfied, but yet not overly full. On top of the good food, the staff was really quick to refill our glasses and extremely courteous. After we finished our meal, the owner asked for our honest opinion. You can really tell that they truly care about the customer experience and that they want to continuously improve their restaurant. Passage to India is great place and I can't wait to go back!

Thus far, I can confidently say that this is absolutely one of the best places to eat in Fargo. I cannot begin to articulate how wonderful the food, service, and clean this place is.
