Paradiso Mexican Restaurant Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Being from Texas, this is average as Americanized Mexican gets. Had better and had worse. Give it three stars for serving size, taste, and price Service a might bit slow.

As someone else put it, typical of mexican restaurants close to the Canadian border. Very bland. Everything seems like it comes out of a can and slapped into the microwave. Minus the plates though, those come out of the 900 degree oven. Def don't make it a habit to visit this place.

Paradiso makes me sad and I try not to come here because the food is so below par. The chips aren't even made fresh, the salsa is bland and service wasn't good. I usually only come here when it is someone else's birthday as I don't voluntarily come here. Not worth the free birthday meal in my opinion. Mexican Village is a step up from here but they are pretty close to the same level of food and service in my opinion. Oh and the crazy weird decor does not help their cause.

On the plus side, this place looks spectacular on the inside. Outside is ok, but on the inside, clearly a chunk has been spent on stained glass windows, an atrium section, sculpture, even a fountain. They also have a very high-powered air conditioner that they love so much, they run it well past the point of excess, appropriate temperatures outside or not. That's where the positives end and as soon as you pick up the menu, the more astute will recognize you're immediately in trouble. In case you're not among that group, here you can experience such authentic goodies as "crab with a k" for the entirety of their seafood offerings, ground beef, processed cheese nonsense and chips fresh from whatever bag is cheapest at the grocery store or Costco or whatever. I had their "famous" chimi, which was dinky compared to the picture and it was bland milquetoast of an Americanized "Mexican" mess as I've ever had, down to the beans and "Spanish" rice. A place like this would have a tremendously difficult time surviving in a town of a larger size or with a more established culinary tradition or higher and more discerning standard. The best I can say about it is that for years, I had meant to get to this place, decades, even, all to have some fried ice cream and sopapillas and after having been there, I not only still have never had those things, but will probably never go to another of these again. This place is very popular, though and further demonstrates that Fargo has a long, long way to go to be a respectable food town.

Chicken flautas, margaritas, free chips and salsa. These are all the good things about Paradiso. Other than that, nothing special. The only reason I would go to Paradiso is for a friend's birthday (free birthday meal). I love the flautas and the jalepeno jelly that comes with it. However, every time I've ordered something else, I've been disappointed. It is good place for a group, though.

Chain Mexican food in the Midwest, so you know what to expect. It's kind of bland and not at all authentic, but still manages to be better than Mexican Village by a lot. The Free Birthday meal and the various large sections make it a good place to hold a birthday party. Also, they have vegan meat substitutes, which I wouldn't expect from Paradiso, but I definitely appreciate it.

I like to bring my 5 year old daughter here and sit by the fountain while she tosses in pennies and makes wishes. She loves coming here to have a "fiesta" as she calls it. The food is pretty decent and the guacamole is pretty good, but the guacamole comes with a bunch of avocado slices and that's what I love about it.

Good ambiance and a good crowd on a Thursday evening. Ordered the Carne Asada, which is one of their signature dishes. Disappointed. No love from the person making this. The steak was thrown on top of the enchiladas. Tasted okay. Texture of the steak was questionable. Overall a good experience; just expected more form the food.

I hadn't been in years, and hopefully don't have to go ever again. I was craving ginger ale and instead of going to find some, my husband called the restaurant to ask if they had it instead of going out to buy some elsewhere (we knew we were going there for a relative's birthday). Whoever answered the phone said they had it. When I ordered it as one of my drinks (ginger ale and a water), he said "I don't know if we have ginger ale." My husband said "You do - I called earlier." The waiter dismissed him and took the others' drink orders. Then the waiter turned to me and said, "So did you want anything else with that water." My family was like, "Yeah, she wanted a ginger ale, right?" and he walked away. It was so rude. Even if they didn't have ginger ale, he didn't appear to know that, and his behavior was uncalled for even if he knew they did not. The service did not improve from there - our queso blanco arrived long after the chips and salsa were gone. We sat at the table for a long time with empty chips and drinks. our food was bleh. We had to wait a long time for our table. I just don't know why people go. I'd much rather pay for my birthday meal at an enjoyable restaurant.

I've had better Mexican food pretty much everywhere I've ever been, not just while living in California but even in Wisconsin, Tennessee and Iowa. We came here because it was my husbands favorite place in college but even he said that nostalgia doesn't make up for sub-par food and horrible service. I mean the thing is, just because you're in Fargo doesn't mean you have to feed into the myth that mid-westerners like bland food covered in cheese..... how about some cheese free options with some fire in them?

  • Jim J.

I thought the food was pretty good and our sever was real attentive. I don't know why any Yelpers would give this place anything less than 3 stars. The margaritas were fantastic.

It's a cattle barn. Enormous inside and built that way for a reason - deliver dozens of dishes all made out of the same 4 or 5 ingredients. Had the three taco dinner 1 soft, 2 hard. Very little cheese on top and no tomatoes with the tacos? Just lettuce and a little bit of cheese. Served with a scoop of dried out rice and bland bean paste(refried beans?) Kind of a chucky cheeses restaurant model or a worn out old Chi Chis.

Paradiso is pretty typical of "Mexican" restaurants close to the border... the Canadian border. Everything from the gaudy decor to the unimaginative menu items screams Americanized. Everything is pretty bland, from the under seasoned meat to the straight from the can refried beans. And is there even any alcohol in the Margaritas? Just looking at the outside of the restaurant should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect, food-wise. Poorly executed American food parading as Mexican cuisine.

Go here for great margs, happy hour is amazing! You get free tacos, gets pretty busy, great staff too..

Dull Mexican with little flavor. The salsa bar is nice, but get the same at chipotle. Quick service, but nothing special.

Even if you go on your birthday...you are still overpaying... Have had completely disappointing experiences here the last five times we've been here, four of which being on someone's birthday. Cold food, wrong food, completely disinterested wait staff...the place looks nice though! On my last visit, I did not get what I ordered(double fries with my order). There were Fourteen(14) fajita fries on my plate, so I questioned the server, "Is that double fries?", to which she gave me a completely unenthusiastic "Yes.". Did I mention that a crusty kernal of corn was also on my plate? My meal didn't come with corn...neither did my wife's..oh and there was a hair on my plate as well. Yum yum, it's like a couple side dishes were thrown in! I wrote to the company via their website. The response was a pathetically poor, "We will try harder next time. I talked with the server." Even if you want and are craving "Mexican" food, buy pizza instead, because if you go to Paradiso, you won't get what you want anyway.

Good service and atmosphere, but the food has gotten bland and low quality. Chips tasted burnt and have a cardboard texture. Too bad used to be a favorite spot.

I love Mexican food! But for some reason I seem to stick with one of two "favs' at Paradiso...it's either Cheese Enchilada's (occasionally beef or chicken) with sides of rice. Or else a Chicken Taco Salad hold the shell and black olives with salsa for dressing. Pretty basic food items but that do it for me! Plus they use corn tortilla's for their enchilada's, which makes the gluten free dinning a nice and easy experience.

The cheese enchiladas with verde sauce was excellent. The chips and salsa were not good.

How does this place stay open? Met a friend who lives in DL for lunch at Paradiso today. I'm from Las Vegas so know what good mexican food should taste like!!! We both had chicken taco salad which was completely bland and tasteless!!! Salsa tasted like tomato sauce and was watery. And if that wasn't bad enough, our waiter acted as if he was doing us a favor by waiting on us!!!! The Worst restaurant experience EVER and I travel and eat out a lot!!!! Needless to say, I will not be going back.....

I don't really know what "real" Mexican food should taste like. I grew up around here, and we like our Mexican food smothered in cheese and not too spicy. Paradiso delivers, in my opinion. My usual fare is a chicken chimichanga, wherever I go. The chicken in this one was tasty, and cooked well. The rice and beans were tasty and much more worthwhile than the ones I had recently at Acapulco. Also, free dinner on your birthday? Score! Add the fact that you can make it back to work within an hour lunch, and they have my vote.

There is no good Mexican food in Fargo. This is probably the worst of them all. The chips and salsa are terrible. I ordered the fajitas and they tasted like Rice-a-Roni. It was a sad day when Casa Ramos closed because it was the only decent Mexican around. Now the only place that's even tolerable is Mango's.

Love that comment about Paradiso being closer to Canada than Mexico,so whaddya expect?! I agree. I came here on a Wednesday for dinner and this place was hopping. There was about a 20 minute wait for a table. I ditched my business associate and used the time to explore the place a bit. Restaurant is large as advertised, broken up into different sections in the center there is like this courtyard type of setting, in the back are a bunch of tables for more of a Catina atmosphere and off to one side is a bar area which has dining tables as well. Most appealing was the bar area although I didn't go there on this night. This area looked like it was jumping with people drinking all sorts of specials. There was a taco/nacho bar for the patrons available so this definitely has some happy hour potential. But as I'm committed to entertaining a couple of business associates, I had to do the "mature" dinner thing. We were taken to a booth and after a few minutes we were presented with the standard chips and salsa and the waitress took our order. This place has all the Mexican beers on tap so I ordered a Dos Equis Lager which was fine. For dinner I ordered the combination with green sauce, which had Chiles Rellenos, Beef Burrito, Rice and Beans. Dinner came quickly enough, the burrito was your standard ground beef with Ortega Taco seasoning added type burrito. Big distinction was there was a ton of melted cheese on top. The chiles rellenos was just flat out weird. They tooks some chopped peppers and some cheese and wrapped it in an egg roll, heated and then poured sauce on it. It tasted OK but this is not chiles rellenos. Bottom line, it is what it is, americanized Mexican food overloaded with salt, cheese and spices. No subtilty whatsoever. But who cares? It's cheap satisfying grub. I will be back but primarily for the bar which looks like a happening environment. The food is pretty run of the mill.

I think this place is getting a bum rap. Most "Mexican" food we eat in the US comes from the Sonoran region of which the majority hasn't been a part of Mexico since the mid 1800s (Gadsden Purchase). Just try ordering a chimichanga in Mexico and hopefully, you'll just get a funny look. If you do get served a chimichanga, best prepare your taste buds for some fried monkey. Someone else here said Tabasco sauce has no place in a Mexican restaurant. Better tell the people of Tabasco, Mexico to move then. And Louisiana, where Tabasco sauce was created, has a long and storied Spanish history. But enough with the history and geography lesson. Paradiso is fine. Some things are better than others but the menu is large enough that everyone should be able to find something they like. I recommend the cheese enchiladas and tacos. If my Chicano hubby thinks this place is okay, then it's okay.

where do I start? the red neon in the dinning room! I was temporary blinded, the burrito I had contained only meat where were the rest of the ingredients extra charge for a small dab of corn salsa, service was mediocre and two managers help your servers and put condiments on the table no hot sauce was offered? I had to ask for it and a extra napkin what takes so long? Taco Belle is better

Two stars for getting two people wasted on eight margaritas for $17 on Cinco de Mayo. Thought the whole scene was surreal. Giant restaurant decorated with every corny Mex-like decoration with lighting that made all the rooms seem like the Carlsbad Caverns. yelp.com/biz_photos/Nd45… Packed to the rafters with pearly white Christians, Rubenesque ladies and massive belly fat men. They were all celebrating a day that is barely recognized in Mexico. ...barely recognized in Mexico...good way to describe the cardboard tortilla chips, the over cumin-ed salsa, the plates that exited the kitchen on which nothing but bright yellow cheese about two inches thick could be seen and the Norteno music in the background. It was Saturday night and lonely, aging, chubby females were circling the bar in some desperate effort to attract. I'll bet that lots of folks will have great stories at church this morning about their walk on the wild side at Paradiso. Yeah, suuure, a guud time for all.

Second visit in the last couple months. First visit, asked for no onions or bell peppers in the veggie mix, and it came out filled with them. After grossly picking them out myself, the server never bothered to say anything. I asked if the kitchen didn't get the order right, he checked and came back with "our policy is no modifications". I pulled the manager aside, and he had the same response. How is this good customer service?!?!? I understand the veggies are prepped in the morning and assorted into serving sized baggies... pick the damn things out for the customer!!! Do you know how unacceptable it is to sit there and pick out piece by piece what you ordered to have REMOVED!? Loved that they had vegan chicken and beef options (yes, this does exist). For the second visit, a Wednesday around 200pm. Sat in the dining room with a mid to late 30's server, shorter blonde hair. She rushed the order... messed up the order... and nothing was done. I ordered no cheese on my food, simple enough. It came out covered in cheese and when I said I ordered no cheese/no diary.. her response "ugh, whaaat?!?!". Not a sorry, not a "my bad" ... nothing. Not a visit from a manager, not a fix to the bill for HER mistake. My husband and I met in a restaurant where I was Lead Cocktail Server for 5 years and he bartended for 2 years. This was a sorry mistake by the server as we love the food. All restaurants should have the policy that a manager visits the table, no matter the smallest of mistakes at the table. Had a manager stopped by, a sorry by the server, anything, really..... I wouldn't be writing this review. We will probably return as the food is great, but will avoid the servers section and will avoid ordering anything that has to be modified in the slightest of ways. WOW! Can't believe a place this huge has such awful reviews and awful customer forward service.

It wasn't best I've ever had, but I guess it was okay when you consider Fargo's closer to Canada than Mexico.... A good chimi should be crispy, not chewy. And Tabasco has *no* place in Mexican food (that's southern, not southwestern, c'mon people...), but at least they had Cholula as well. Those are my primary niggles. Aside from that, the food was decent, the cheese on top of the beans was generous, and the rice was seasoned much more than I ever had back home but I liked it. I normally think of rice as a filler, but this was really good! I don't recommend the chimichanga and won't be ordering it again, but I still might give this place another chance to redeem itself. Just read one of the other reviews where the reviewer flat-out states they've never had ""real"" Mexican food. Yes, I put their quotes in quotes because it's either real/authentic or it's not and I found that ridiculous. They say, "I grew up around here, and we like our Mexican food smothered in cheese and not too spicy." I swear, that makes me want to scream. First, Mexico is a pretty large country and the food varies massively from state-to-state just like it does in the USA. Some regions don't do very spicy food. Some serve bacon with dang near every dish. But this place is approximating (parodying?) the Sonora region and doing it poorly. It wouldn't take much work to really make this place something special here in Fargo. They've already got the building. Fix the food, fix the menu, show a little bit more regional flavor/variation, and it'd be amazing. But don't bastardize Sonoran Mexican food for local tastes and the "close enough is good enough" attitude in Fargo. There's little point in calling it Mexican food if that's what they're going to do.

Ok I'm from San Diego and I love my rice and beans. I don't eat meat so my trip to Fargo has been difficult in the food area. I walked to paradiso and was delighted to see they have a page full of veg options. I had meatless chicken tacos al carbon. Was good ! Rice and beans damn good. I got the bean dip for an appetizer and it was delightful. Had the leftovers for breakfast I might add. I'm sure the people on the plane will appreciate that .. Anywhoo I had great customer service from the bartender Leeann. I didn't go in with high expectations for authenticity because come on people , this is Fargo not San Diego !!!! I agree with other review that the chips and salsa were nothing special but I was hungover and didn't care. Lol.

This is a below average americanized Mexican restaurant with too much on the menu to produce anything of note. Don't go here if you expect something decent.

If Disneyland is the happiest place on earth then Paradiso is the saddest place on earth. Went there for drinks on a Saturday night because I was in town for a funeral. The people at the funeral were happier than the employees at Paradiso. All I could think of is what a horrible place this must be to work. Not one employee was smiling, they all looked angry and depressed. Down to the food part. The margaritas tasted like they were on tap. Made with "margarita mix", not hand made by an actual bartender. He looked sad as well. We had appetizers which tasted like the frozen then deep fried variety. Nothing to write home about. Come for the sadness, not the food.

A fun Tex-Mex restaurant. Authentic, no, but certainly what the people crave here - lots of meat, cheese, and huge portions that fill you up in the dead of winter or heat of summer. Much a-kin to a cheaper, better-tasting version of Chevy's except here in Fargo. This is actually one of the larger restaurants in Fargo, with sections for a bar, a covered open area up front for warmer days, doorways that remind me of the Three Amigos movie, and lots of people most nights - families will enjoy the cheaper meals for children, the ability to accommodate plenty of people, as loud as you want to be, and relax with friends and family as you eat here. I do love their enchiladas, though. All your regular faux-"Mexican" dishes with great spicing (courtesy of the chefs in the back of whom many have first-hand knowledge of real Mexican) and plenty of drinks to cover the thirst that builds with a big appetite. And I like their mud pie - chocolate pudding with a gummy worm and dustings of crushed oreos! Lighting's a bit dark, but hey, for the atmosphere and the food, it's not a bad deal at all. Plenty of free birthday dinners any given night, too.

This restaurant wasn't very far from my hotel, and it was suggested as a place to eat dinner. After living in the southwest, I've got definite ideas about Mexican food. I won't lie - I've had great Mexican in the midwest, and I've had horrible Mexican in the southwest. Unfortunately, this would be of the "Americanized Mexican" type. They served some sort of bagged corn chip (instead of homemade, and the chips were kind of stale tasting). The salsa was watery and had bell pepper (instead of jalapeño or serraño or any other kind of chile). (It also lacked cilantro, and generally, lacked flavor.) Their nachos were incredibly weird - it looked like they just put cheddar cheese or cheddar jack on the chips, and put cups of jalapeños and diced onion on the side. Seriously? I've never had nachos like this before, ever. For dinner, I really couldn't decide if I should go for something super generic and go for the Taco Bell hopes, or if I should hope that the only thing that looked kind of authentic would be decent. I decided on the latter - carne asada. It's one of my favorite dishes (and really, that should have been a clue to avoid it just to avoid disappointment), but I've never had a bad one, even at crappy midwestern chains! So I get my carne asada (which for some reason, came with two beef enchiladas instead of the two cheese enchiladas it was supposed to have - and it was bland filling, no flavor at all - such as shame!), and I don't see any tortillas. I ask my waiter, and he says "t's under your steak". Oookay. So it was. One tortilla for 8oz of steak is a bit ... few, and it was completely soaked in the enchilada sauce. The steak itself was not bad. It wasn't what I typically associate with carne asada, but it was passable. The tortilla was also ok -- insufficient to have one tortilla for that much steak, and the enchilada sauce soaking was annoying, but it was pillowy and saved me from eating 1/3 of my steak by hand. Sadface. The main reason I didn't give one star to this place is because the margarita was surprisingly good, and the choco chimi was surprisingly good.

I'm originally from Fargo and now live in LA so I'm admittedly spoiled on the amazing Mexican food available in the LA area. But back in the day when I lived in Fargo, I used to enjoy Paradiso. Having just eaten there a few days ago, I can tell you it has really gone down hill. Way down. The burrito I had was only so-so, the rice was dry and the tortilla chips -- unquestionably the worst I've ever had in my life. You could buy Doritos brand chips and do better. These chips were horrible and had the texture of styrofoam. And the guacamole was pure onion. Yuck. Also, the waiter was trying to impress us by not writing down our orders.....which led to the inevitable.....one of our dishes was prepared with the wrong sauce. Do yourself a favor and go to Mexican Village instead.

I recently visisted Fargo and went to Paradiso for lunch. Yuck, the chips I dont know what they did to them but they were not fresh. the dish I had was average and the salsa and Guacamole was nothing but a big Onion what happened to Paradiso?

My favorite restaurant ever. Go there for a Seafood Grande Enchilada and Fried Ice Cream for dessert. It's too bad I need to take a 4 hour plane flight to eat there.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
