I have been here three times now and the burgers are excellent, mainly because the hamburger buns are freshly made. They are as soft as can be and almost melt in your mouth. FYI - this place is basically three restaurants in one, with different entrances into the same building. However, the menu options are the same. With that being said the bar menu has more burger options so if you are wanting a burger make sure to look at both the large restaurant menu and the bar menu. So far my favorites are the Bar Burger, Breakfast Burger, and the Cheese Frenchie with Ham. Also the Kochens have been fabulous!

DR. JOE B REVIEWS - 4 Stars **** Mom's Diner (a.k.a. Mom's Kitchen) located at 1322 Main Ave., Fargo N.D. 58103, has been around for a while. It's been 8 years since I last ate at Mom's Diner; once a favorite of mine for a lunch stop ... On Saturday, April 25th 2015, after returning to Fargo, I found myself in a position to stop back by this 'old time haunt' for dinner. It turned out to be a worthwhile encounter with no complaints from my taste buds; as I enjoyed 'The All American Meal.' My dining experience began with a refreshment of Orange Juice ... I chose salad over soup and could not wait to get to the salad bar which I must have hit at the exact right moment ... The salad bar was clean, tidy, and just primed for the evening dinner hour. The unlimited salad was a mixture of many light delicious fresh crispy vegetables and also included pasta; beans and more. I chose a lessor combination of mostly green vegetables such as lettuce, green peppers, broccoli flora heads and peas; all sprinkled with a bit of macaroni pasta on top and covered in a serving of Blue Cheese dressing which was exceptionally creamy; very light, and also delicious and smooth. The Hot Hamburger Sandwich was exactly as stated ... A generous portion of 'well -cooked' hamburger on white bread smothered in an appetizing Midwest Turkey Gravy; along with delicate smooth and fluffy whipped potatoes and a mild Turkey Dressing which was also covered in the rich thick gravy. I liked it very much! For desert it was difficult to choose between the 'Apple Pie' that I'd had my eye on, and the 'Cheese Cake' which captured my attention. After a lot of thought I decided on the Cheese Cake which was light and very tasty; covered in sweet luscious cherries prepared perfectly in a thick cherry syrup poured over the top - and dripping down the sides - with a crumbly crust which was also thick; light to the taste; yummy, and freshly made. It is a sure bet that I will be back to eat at Mom's again soon! "Nom Nom" (written by Lynda Jacobs)

The whole time I was in Mom's Diner, the only word that kept coming to mind to describe it was "interesting." And I'm not sure it was meant in a good way. This place definitely caters to the senior citizen crowd. The ambiance is kind of strange. I didn't feel like I was in a restaurant, more like a community center or church basement. The food is average. I ordered a hamburger hot plate which was decent. For dessert, I ordered apple pie. I LOVE apple pie, but was not a fan of this one. The thing I like about pie is the flaky crust, but this crust was super thin and not flaky- disappointing. If you're in the area and need food yeah go ahead and eat here, but don't go out of your way to try this place.

The place is set up very weird. The diner entrance faces the road. The entrance to Tailgators faces the parking lot, which is kind of confusing. When parking folks, walk to the left of the building and make a right turn. Now that that's been said, let's get to the food. Pretty good. The chef can certainly make an omelette (meat lover's) with a side of hash browns and whole wheat toast. The coffee was okay (could be better). For my first time in Fargo, this was a good place to stop at rather than a fast food place. Customer service was good, and the day manager was actually very cool when talking about the establishment. When visiting Fargo again (this location was close to downtown), I'll have to stop here to try the dinner options.

Mom's Diner is the only place in the world, that I know of, that serves a Cheese Frenchie. The Cheese Frenchie was a staple lunch served in the Fargo Public School System in the 1970's and 1980's. When visiting Fargo, I make a point to come to Mom's for my trip down memory lane. I miss the intercom system they used to have at Mom's where you could call in your order to the Kitchen from your table. When I was a kid eating here with my Parents, they would let me order my food through the intercom. It was really cool. I think this place used to be Kings Food Host, then Mom's Kitchen, now Mom's Diner. The food has never changed. A must visit place that serves great comfort food. :)

I don't really know why I like this place. It's mostly generic, deep-fryer food, but it's good and generous. If you go in the front, yeah it's an old cafe atmosphere. The back is the bar part and more lively. All the same food though. Still can't place a finger on why I like it, but I do.

I've eaten here about 3 times. The first time I had the best apple pie I've ever had. The next time I had the first Monte Crisco I've ever had and it was amazing. Mom's does homemade food really well. The knoephla ( a German potato dumpling soup) sticks to your ribs and tastes amazing. I noticed that Mom's has a collection of wings and one of those types of wings is called "the Flaming Homer" Which is a Simpsons reference. So even before I taste them I like. Turns out, they are great. As with almost everything Mom's does, they put their own spin on wings. They deep fry the raw wings, then they season them, then they bake them. So they are not wet with sauce. The wings are served with homemade blue cheese dressing that's great. Heat wise, they are hot, but not unbearable. The waitress said she was afraid to try them because their aroma bites your nose. Degree of spice is very personal thing. I found that the spice was hot and flavorful and did linger, but wasn't so unbearable that you can't eat them. I truely enjoyed them and have found everything at Mom's to be fresh, homemade, slightly unique and very good. They are like a really good garage band breathing new life into classics.

I'm going to give this place 2 Stars for the reason that the soups and Pies are Homemade other than that it's about as exciting as a old shoe ,that of witch they used for my country fried steak ,it's a place that caters to a older like 80 or older crowd small senior size portions with little or no seasoning used in the prep of dishes the 2 pieces of thin Deli Sliced turkey used for the Hot Turkey Sandwich was disappointing as well but live and learn I guess I'll keep looking for a truly good diner I know that there has to be one someplace!

I have eaten here many times over the years. Not because the food is that great, but the service is usually fast, and the servers are attentive. Today My companion and i went for a late breakfast. It was not very busy, but our food took a long time to come out. And it was cold. How hard is it to make eggs and French toast. I wasn't able to tell the waitress that the food was cold, because after she plopped the plates on the table, we did not see her until she brought the check. We ate the food anyway, even though it was cold. There are lots of other, better places to eat in Fargo. I won't be going back here any time soon.
