My wife and I go here often and it's always fantastic! We went there last night for our Anniversary and they, once again, knocked it out of the park. I had the Ribeye and my wife had the Lamb, both of which were fantastic. My steak was so tasty and, to top it off, when THEY noticed that it was cooked medium when I asked for it medium rare, they were so apologetic and continued to offer to make it right. This is a testament to the type of restaurant it is, They truly care about your experience! This restaurant is truly leading the way for upscale dining in the FM area! Can't wait to go back!

All I can say is absolutely Wonderful! The martinis were delicious and well crafted, the service was excellent and the food was original and well executed. We had a delicious bacon wrapped chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and chorizo and a tender steak topped with a candied bacon relish and blue cheese. Makes me wish I lived closer to Fargo! Do not miss the opportunity to visit this gem if you have the chance.

I wish I hadn't waited so long to check this place out- I pretty much fell in love right away. I arrived a little after 5 to meet someone for a weekday happy hour & took a seat at the bar. The atmosphere was relaxed but lively. I really like that there are not tv's plastered all over the walls. This is a place you can come & actually enjoy the company & food. The 4-6 happy hour has some excellent prices. The blueberry martini ($7) is unique and tasty, although pretty sweet. I was impressed with the variety of items on the artisan cheese plate ($7). The crab cakes ($9) were surprising & delectable. I enjoyed the addition of corn & avocado in the dish. I ordered a 2nd martini off the menu & the bartender asked if I liked coconut. I have no idea what was all in the martini, but it tasted like tropical paradise. Every staff I encountered really seemed to care about making the experience enjoyable for patrons. This is something you definitely don't see much of in other places around town. The only thing I found a little odd was that you have to take an elevator down to the restrooms, but not odd enough to be an inconvenience.

This place is awesome! My husband and I ate at the bar. Service and food were excellent! We had such a great experience, we're looking forward to going back again. Would highly recommend this place.

I've been here multiple times and I have never walked away disappointed. Professional, inviting and flavorful. They even make tater tots that will blow your mind. The food is consistently to the level where you close your eyes and truly savor each bite. To top it off, their bartenders whip up some amazing beverages as well. Thank you to Mezzaluna for bringing your unique style to the FM area's fine dining scene.

Excellent restaurant. Fantastic food, with impeccable service and delectable menu. Reminiscent of being in a major metropolitan area.

The cheese plate and wild rice are delicious, and the staff is a good sport about me asking about vegetarian cheeses (without animal rennet). I thought nothing but good thoughts about them until my second meal there on 7/8/14, when I couldn't finish my cheese tray. They had no problem boxing up food for me the first time, so I didn't think anything of it when the waitress, Briana, offered to box up my cheese plate. She left out half the items. My favorite items. That I specifically saved so I could have some for later. She did not ask if she could throw away half of my food, she just did it. I am very upset as the cheese plate is the primary reason I go to Mezzaluna, and I think it is very sad to waste this food.

My wife and I went there for our anniversary dinner, and I made reservations kind of at the last minute, as we weren't sure where we wanted to go. I kept hearing about Mezzaluna and how good their food was, so we decided to give this a try. I told the person answering the phones we were coming for our anniversary, and made reservations for 7PM. When we arrived a few minutes early, we were seated right away in a booth that made it easy for my wife and I to sit right next to each other. During the entire night we were congratulated by the staff on our anniversary. It really helped to make the night special. The food, which I have heard so much about, was some of the best FM really has to offer. We had the Artisan Cheese Plate for our appetizer, and frankly we could have kept eating off of that. A nice sampling of three cheeses with plenty of accompaniments. For dinner I had the filet, and my wife had the bacon wrapped chicken. The steak was cooked to perfection (I ordered medium rare, and it is so hard to find a chef in town who can cook a steak medium rare!) and it was so tender I basically didn't need my knife to cut it. My wife's chicken was also cooked to perfection. I realized during dinner I had a long way to go before I could call myself a grill master. One of the things I could tell during the night with our food is that it was fresh. The vegetables on our plates were crunchy, and it would not surprise me to find out our vegetables were picked that morning. The steak and chicken did not taste like it was frozen, which seems to be the common thread with Mezzaluna - fresh food, fresh ingredients = happy stomachs. As for the desserts - I'll tell you this. Leave room, because their chocolate cake is good enough to start wars over. We were checked up on during the night just about the perfect number of times - our glasses were always full, and the martinis my wife and I shared were awesome. The blueberry martini wasn't our favorite, but the chocolate cherry martini was very good. During the entire night there wasn't anything that could go wrong - everything was (as according to my wife) - perfect! Only thing my wife said was she wished she had was some bread or something similar to munch on while we waiting for our main courses. To summarize: Pros: - Food was excellent! - Chefs know how to cook a steak to medium rare to perfection. - Try the martini's - a little spendy, but well worth it! - Staff know how to make a night like our anniversary special. - It's the little things that count. Mezzaluna did them to perfection. - Fresh food - would not surprise me to hear our vegetables were picked that morning. - Awesome desserts. Cons: - It's not so much a con, as maybe a suggestion - perhaps have something to munch on (like bread) before the main course arrives. Granted, that's what appetizers are for so maybe we should have ordered a second one! (I wouldn't have complained!) I fully expect to be seeing the Mezzaluna staff again. Excellent experience, excellent food! If you haven't tried them, don't hesitate and give them a shot!

If anyplace was to receive a five star rating in Fargo, it would be Mezzaluna. And they would earn it anywhere. The high energy staff work hard to make the experience memorable and one you can't wait to repeat. You won't get in the door without an immediate greeting and a smile. We love sitting at the bar for apps and drinks but on special occasions, like Valentine's Day, we enjoyed the special menu with friends and are still talking about it. Joe, the front manager, has a great ensemble of service staff. Emily, Mason, and Michael to name just a few (not fair, I know) have never let us down. Check out their appetizers! We have had the all and the are delicious.

This is my first ever Yelp review. I live in No Cal and was traveling for business. I travel a lot these days all over and use Yelp almost everyday so I feel compelled to finally contribute to the cause. I'm sure I had some pre conceived ideas of what I'd experience in Fargo. After traveling all week all over N and S Dakota and using Yelp every night for dinner in Bismarck, Rapid City and now Fargo. Good finds in each for a solo traveler. Mezzaluna came w some high praise by Yelpers. Very cool downtown location. Great space in an old building. Great atmosphere as far as decor and vibe. I sat at the bar solo and my man Mason took very good care. A young cat wise beyond his years in the art of mixology and knowledge of the palate. He made some nice drinks. Knows his beers and wine a well. I had Scallops w Purple Thai Rice w chutnied carrots. Very good. Main was Chianti Braised Short Ribs. Very nicely done. Over Wild Mushroom Risotto w fresh veggies and Sage Gremolata. Lots of couples and groups were dining. The horseshoe shaped bar was really busy w/ a few couples, groups of 2-4 girls and guys taking advantage of great drinks and well edited beer and wine list at happy hour prices until 11. They have a double headed tap of Grey Goose Vodka. I've never seen that. Bottom line, if your in Fargo and want to dine at a place w/ great food, Superb drinks and cool unpretentious atmosphere w a friendly helpful staff, go to Mez. If you suck, stay away.

Absolutely the best burger in town - as well as everything else they serve is top notch. BEST HAPPY HOUR food and drinks in the area. I have nothing bad to say about this place because there is nothing bad!!!! Every time I go there - everything is top notch and the servers and staff are highly amazing!

I was urged to come here by fellow yelper, Kelly. I wanted to try a new place, it was so hot I didn't want to leave downtown and I always do what Yelpers tell me to. However I'm way too literal at times, and since luna is latin, I'm expecting Italian, wrong. But what it is, is fabulous fine dining. We got the warmest greeting, and from looking around the best service from Brianna. She smiled more than most. It was a Friday so of course I'm hoping for a clam chowder. No dice, but when I tasted the tomato bisque I got over it.For appetizers we got scallops, a tender, crispy scallop worthy of being the main course if you ordered two. I got the burgundy beef tips with risotto, tender, delicious and pretty filling. If you think you may be too full for dessert, have no fear, the portions are extremely small. They even managed to make a key lime creme brulee bite size. I had the mango panna cotta. It came with banana which I had them leave off. Talk about almost ruining something wonderful. The bathrooms downstairs are like something out of a palace. I haven't been to every upscale place in the area, but if I want to drop a hundred dollars for two, it will be here.

Eric and Sarah catered our wedding so when we heard they left WF Maxwell's to open Mezzaluna, we were so excited! They kept the quirky seashell booths from when it was the Silver Moon but added some new elements to the bar/lounge area. The bar menu is amazing! $7 happy hour plates that are both delicious and filling. The shrimp wrapped in prosciutto with polenta and pesto was awe inspiring. I had dreams about it! You have to try the Asiago tots and grilled cheese-both pretty yummy at 11:00 at night! The bar specializes in cocktails. I recommend the Alley Cat Gin Fizz for a nice refreshing summer drink. Mezzaluna is our new favorite place to go and hang out after work with friends.

Joe greeted us at the door & always goes out of his way to take care of us. Michael was our server in the bar & did a fine job. We had drinks, a few appetizers & a bottle of wine. The Bruschetta & shrimp appetizers were delicious. This is one of our favorite places because we can count on consistently good food & service.

Easily the best restaurant in Fargo-Moorhead. I travel almost every week for my job and eat in some of the best steakhouses in the U.S. The filet at Mezzaluna was the best I've ever had. Apps, salads, sides, drinks & desserts = all 5 stars.

Excellent food and outstanding service! This is some of the best food you will find in the Fargo/Moorhead area. The restaurant seems as though it should be located in a bigger city such as New York and it has a great atmosphere. Overall my favorite place for fine dining in this area.

Very good food, friendly staff. Highly suggest the Scallops if you like seafood. Happy hour is where it's at. My husband and I go all too often, we can't stay away from HH, small plates at great prices for fine dining. You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. There's even a killer grilled cheese. Go here if you haven't already.

What a wonderful dining experience for Fargo! This is not a place to come for a cheap bite - this is a special occasion kind of place. I went out for a girls' night and we went all out. We started with the tuna appetizer - amazing! The tuna was so perfectly prepared and was delicious. We had the butternut squash lasagna and pheasant for entrees. The winner was the lasagna. I could have eaten double the amount! Our server was fantastic. He was quick, courteous and provided great suggestions.

Don't be scared by the dark alley and array of dumpsters, as this place is a hidden gem. The hipster decor with retro fixtures really sets a good mood. The meatloaf was an amazing creation with tons of great flavor. The salads are small with amazing presentation. I enjoyed the mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad. The mozzarella was breaded and fried like a mozzarella stick. They have small desserts so you don't have to save too much room. The prices are higher than yelp indicates if you plan to do full dinner service. They also have smaller fare for a fairer price. Looks like a great spot to eat some snack food and mingle with friends. Definitely will come again next time I'm in Fargo.

It's a fine place.. but dinner for four with a couple bottles of middle of the road wine is 400+ bucks...IDK...Plenty of other places in town can make you just as happy for a little less $

There is a reason this is often named the best restaurant in Fargo, as well as North Dakota. Great service is one of the reasons why I go back again and again. But also, even though it is an upscale, fine dining restaurant, I can always find affordable choices on the menu. You can pay $35 for that amazing steak, or you can have a $10 burger with tater tots and dill havarti aioli that is also terrific. I love asking about the soup of the day, to hear what creative flavors they come up with. I always look forward to a meal at Mezza!

They took a good meal and made it great. Pork loin wrapped in prosciutto with a sweet relish of some kind. The sweet potatoes were prepared well and the Brussels sprouts were yummy (wish there were more). The service was spot-on. The ambiance was perfect. Worth a try.

I have always been treated well here. So many people will say that Mezzaluna is for the posh high end crowd where as it seems it is for everyone. The happy hour menu and specials are the best is downtown. And there are off menu items when asked for. Good for dates, friends, family or just being alone.

Mezzaluna is a must for anyone in Fargo! It's one of the trendies and hippest places in town; and you'll be glad to have gone there. You can have dinner in the restaurant seating areas of the place or simply be in the lounge area. Either way, you're in business. The dinner menu is full of elegant and classy dishes. Personally, I've only eaten from the dinner menu twice; but both times have been very delicious. Most of the time, we simply get a hightop table in the lounge and order drinks and appetizers. If you do that, you're going to be just as happy. Their bar menu is equally good. Be sure to try the M Burger, the cheese tray, the meatballs, or pasta dishes. My personal favorite is the grilled cheese and tomato soup! I know, you're probably asking what am I doing ordering that at a classy lounge. But not so fast...this isn't your ordinary grilled cheese and soup. It's a grilled cheese with a mixture blend of cheeses on thick Texas toast and what tastes like homemade tomato soup! Definitely not Wonder bread with Kraft singles and a can of Campbell's! Just trust me and try it! You'll be in love too. =) The regular menu items are a little bit on the spendy side, but frequenting the lounge during happy hour will be kinder to your wallet. Most things are around $8.00! Be sure to check out Mezzaluna the next time you're wondering where to go for a pre or post event cocktail and bite to eat. Or just when you'r in the mood for a hip place to be. Great service, great food, and great drinks!

My husband and I went to Mezzaluna tonight to celebrate our wedding anniversary and as usual we were not disappointed. The server was friendly and attentive, taking special note of our anniversary. My husband had the duck and I had the balsamic steak, both were beautifully presented, cooked to order and delicious. The highlight of the night was the white chocolate bread pudding desert served with a lovely chocolate message. A wonderful night and a wonderful restaurant. I recommend it often and experiences like this are why!

Large space, nicely decorated, tasty food and very pleasant staff. I had my first dinner in Fargo at Mezzaluna and it was awesome. The walleye was very nice. I don't know if they order the vegetables from local farmers, but I had a feeling that they do, because the carrots on my plate were amazing!

Mezzaluna is one of the places in Fargo that everyone must try. It's on the fancier/expensive side, but if you're like me, go during happy hour. The happy hour dishes are only $8! I've tried a few, but I would say that the cumin scented pork belly is my favorite. Drinks are pretty good also. When I looked at the dessert menu, I was excited when I saw that they were only $2-3. However, they are bite-sized. Actually, maybe a little smaller than bite sized, lol. Still good, though.

Fargo's number ONE place to eat. Trendy with just the right mix of class and cultural diversity to keep it fresh. Many of Fargo's high society can be found here. The 'u' shaped bar is the hub of this restaurant. Providing traditional and out-side-of-the-box drinks. Happy hour drink prices still fall around 10 Dollars. Happy hour food items are competitively priced at 8 Dollars. The quality of food is on another level for anything being served within the downtown area. It is unlikely you will be disappointed. The staff personally greeted many of the regular patrons. Which gives the restaurant a personal touch while keeping it from becoming stuffy. Bar service was good but not exceptional. Classy but overly reserved, a bit stiff. Have a shot Mr. Bartender, you are under the limelight. You are there to entertain as much as you are to provide drinks. I was most impressed with the host. It is rare to fine a truly empathic person who can read a persons mood and perfectly accommodate it. Providing just the right mixture to make nearly anyone comfortable, welcome, and genuinely appreciated. Exactly what a quality host should do but what so so many fail at. To prevent any confusion as to whom I speak, you pull off the bow tie very handsomely. The special was the grouper. Cooked perfectly just the right mixture of spice and flavor. This chef knows how to elevate a dish with an array of flavor. Everything on the dish came together very nicely. Expect to spend between 26-34 per dish for an entree. From Broadway go to the lobby door to the right of Sandys donuts. Walk straight through the lobby and into the alley. Walk straight ahead. The door is to the right about 15 paces. Otherwise enter from the other street.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Mezzaluna and have been recommending it to anyone who will listen. Service was fantastic- my waiter was attentive but not overbearing. The house made brioche melted in my mouth and the tomato Jalepeno jam was so good I wanted to take a jar home. I had the butternut squash and mushroom lasagna for my main dish and it was the perfect combo of fall flavors- and a nice size portion so there were left overs for another day. Atmosphere was wonderful- old brick loft building with pressed tin ceilings.

We came in on a Tuesday night, at 10:30 pm. The place seemed closed and some of the chairs were up on the tables. I asked the host if the place is still open and he told us that it is. We sat at the bar, the bartender was great, he knew the menu very well and helped us choose a few appetizers, the late night menu has only appitizers. We also had a few drinks that were spot on. The appetizers we got were amazing and although we were full, we ordered a couple more just to try them out. The food came out in about 10-15 min. The staff were really friendly and inviting, although we made them stay open just for us they didn't rush us at all!! The bill came out to be 89$ witch is really cheap for 6 appetizers and 4 drinks! We would come back for sure!

By far, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. My boyfriend and I were visiting ND for a funeral from out of town. We're from the Chicago Suburbs and love to dine out. Our server, Brian, was absolutely delightful. He was so helpful with wine and cocktail parings, as well as suggesting which items to get. We had the pork belly appetizer (amazing). I had the pheasant breast entree, which was perfectly balanced in all it's flavors, and my boyfriend had the NY strip which was a rich and indulgent dish, cooked perfectly rare to his request. To finish up, we had their bread pudding, which was also divine. Highly recommend, this place is wonderful. Even at 5:45 on a Saturday night they were busy, I hope this place sticks around for the long haul!

Absolutely Recommend!!! You are not in Kansas anymore! Seriously. This is one of the finest restaurants in the Minnesota/Dakotas area I have been to yet! It hasn't been that many, but as fate has it, apparently I will be coming to Fargo on business more & more. Decor: Upscale, Trendy, Retro, On point Ambiance: Chilled & Classy Food: Very Very Good Service: Excellent Parking: Free parking lot nearby, only a 1.5 minute walk Very very difficult to locate. You might be walking around in circles before you see the theatre nearby and the fact that Mezzaluna has two entrances. Very easy to find once you get the hang of it. As soon as you enter, the hostess right down to the busboy...every employee has a smile on their face and seems to genuinely enjoy their job. The patrons have smiles on their faces too. There is a happy, positive vibe all around. Saw lots of corporate types and a few socialites. Seems to attract Fargo's elite. I really like the place and will pass the word to my friends. Dress to impress. Make sure to reserve a table before...

Enjoyed an order of bruschetta for an appetizer. Excellent decision! 5 stars Bacon wrapped bison meatloaf was heavenly! Portion was good, not great, but I still ended up feeling pretty satisfied. What it lacked in portion size it made up for in flavor. The quality and taste were superb! 5 stars Wife had the glazed salmon. Not the best she's ever had, but still very good. 3 stars Carrot cake bite for dessert was awesome. 4 stars. Panna cotta was ok. 3 stars Unfortunately the service was pretty slow. We had reservations at 6:30 on a Saturday, which is a pretty peak time, but we were surprised to have to wait til 7 (30 minute wait) before we had an opportunity to put in our order. All said and done, it was after 8:00 by the time the check arrived. Service was friendly, but certainly slow and inattentive. 2 stars

No one who hasn't experienced it themselves ever believes it, but Fargo has some of the best things in the country (it just doesn't have a dozen of each) and Mezzaluna proves that statement: it is a great restaurant with great ambiance and great food. I took my daughter for a fun Father-Daughter fancy meal and we booked a table for two on the spur of the moment. We were seated an presented with a very good Old Fashioned for me and a Shirley Temple (I didn't realize they still served them) for my daughter while we scanned the menu. I also had a Louis Martini cab sav with my main. We decided on sharing an order of bruschetta and an order of fried mozzarella caprese salad for starters followed by crab-stuffed walleye for my daughter and an elk duet (sliced tenderloin and house-made sausage) for me. The "bruschetta" was more a platter of stuff: bread, chopped tomatoes, sliced grilled peppers, grilled onion, fresh mozzarella, chopped artichoke hearts, chopped kalamarta olives and carpoccio. This is way more than enough for two. The fried mozzarella caprese salad would have been better as a fresh slized mozzarella caprese salad. The mains were amazing, as was the evening. Total bill $130 and well worth it.

I'm only in Fargo 1-2 times per year. But all my colleagues - whose home bases range from Atlanta to LA to Hartford CT - all agree that we must go to Mezzaluna whenever we're in Fargo! We especially love Happy Hour, when you can get small plates for reasonable prices and a dollar or so off some wines. The variety and quality of their food is astounding. The presentation is interesting and so appealing. We recently ate: Puttanesca Meatballs - capers really gave it the Spanish flavor, excellent! Panko Walleye tacos - open tacos with fresh, delicious walleye and course-chopped slaw on top; classic bruschetta with a variety of toppings (some better than others); Pan-seared scallops that melt, melt, melt in your mouth. We were crammed into these Art-Deco banquettes and shared the plates among us. And the SERVICE is so great: even tho Happy Hour should occur in the bar, they know we love those banquettes and let us sit there for our own private Happy Hour area. Also, one of our group is gluten-intolerant, so the server arranged a specially-made portion of something we were raving about so she wasn't left out. He choreographed all the plates for the 5 of us to come out together - professional yet so friendly/attentive! - and checked frequently to make sure we were well. Also, we raved about these special, very expensive preserved cherries that garnished a drink - so he brought one each for us (which we paid for, but they are very special and rare and we all got to sample). We always look forward to Fargo trips and Mezzaluna. BTW, I wish we had something this good in "sophisticated" Nashville TN which is so full of itself but has nothing like Mezzaluna!

Mezzaluna is truly one of the finest restaurants in town. My favorite item is their burger that you can order during their happy hour (4-6pm) for $7 or so dollars. I have never regretted visiting this place- primarily because the food is quite amazing and the service is top notch.

As always we seem to be stuck on a half star rating, I.e. 4 1/2 or....... So we went with 4 based on the little things. The service was extremely personable and engaged. Our waitress knew the menu extremely well and could provide excellent insights as required. We started with two different lead-in courses. The soup du jour, which was a cream butternut squash with some creative and tasty treats in it including small candied walnuts. Awesome. The crab cakes were well presented but for me, there should have been more of a crust on the exterior. Tasty but I found they just fell into a mushy pile after the first bite. The aioli was nice but a bit skimpy on the portion. Nice dish but at $13 a bit pricey The daily Chef's special was a seafood trio. Lobster tail, scallop and cod. The dish was nicely presented and the Asiago risotto provided a nice contrast. The scallop and cod were cooked to perfection. The lobster tail was properly cooked but had a bit of a 'fishy' smell. The presentation was enhanced with some finely sliced(shaved) Brussels sprouts. Great technique! The bacon wrapped bison meat loaf was good, nothing special that would have me running back to order it again, but I certainly enjoyed it. There was a wonderful little side course of a medley of breads. Very nice but right after it arrived, so did our mains. We would have appreciated the opportunity to enjoy it separately. Bonus! By checking in with Yelp we received a complimentary dessert. The crême brûlée was good but the lemon curd on the side was to die for. Absolutely amazing. So a very enjoyable evening enhanced by the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff.

Always a delight and impeccable service guaranteed! Appreciate this modern and funky restaurant so much! The presentation of the crab cakes, cheese platter and shrimp appetizers are exquisite and the taste is so diverse. Understand the pairings to bring out the best flavors! The olive tapenade is very good on the cheese platter.

Truly the best of the best in Fargo. Great menu. Great staff. Best happy hour in North Dakota. I go here 4 times a week, at minimum. Highly recommend it! Ask to see what the soup of the day is.

First off the atmosphere is amazing the location is beautiful. It was a bit hidden but that was fine by me as it was not difficult to find. They recommended fitting drinks for everyone in our party that were nicely crafted cocktails. Even the orange juice was fresh squeezed. The fact that they have two happy hour periods most days with deals on both drinks and food is awesome. Every food item we got was delicious. Portion sizes were a bit small but nothing to complain about. We tried the seared tuna which I was impressed by. The crab cakes were pretty good. Tomato soup amazing. Burger very good. Everything presented very elegantly with style and not much of a wait. Highly recommend.

I went for happy hour where the menu is $3-4 cheaper for the budget conscious. Great atmosphere for a date or to hang out with friends. If you love fish tacos, then you'll love the panko Walleye tacos. When they say dessert is a biteful, it literally is two bites. That is why they are only $2-3 Recommendation: For the best experience, go during an off-peak day/time.

I visit Fargo quite often for business and this is by far the best place I have eaten. They have a beautifully decorated space along with exceptional customer service and fantastic food. I will be back!

I took my girlfriend here earlier this evening. The bacon wrapped bison meatloaf was amazing, very flavorful. The citrus crab cakes had to be the best I've ever eaten. My girlfriend said the sirloin was perfect, as well as the cheese cake. The staff was also really polite and friendly. 5/5 will be going back.

Summary: 5 stars for quality, presentation and tastiness of the meal. However, Mezzaluna is not capable of handling busy times. Recommendation: For the best experience, go during an off-peak day/time. Story: I made a 7 pm reservation on a Saturday for a party of four. We waited 30 minutes for a table to be opened up for us all to be seated. Our server was friendly and took our order within 10 minutes. Our food did not make it to our table until 2 hours later. Granted it was a very busy scene, but no one should have to wait two+ hours (or 1/12th) of their day for it.

One of my favorite places in Fargo. It's spendy, though, so I only get to go there on special occasions. I've never once had bad service. They have great bartenders and the servers are very good at recommending wine pairings. My favorite dish is one of their appetizers, the bacon wrapped shrimp with mascarpone polenta - the polenta is to die for. If you get an entree, be sure to get it with their made-in-house tots.

Bacon wrapped chicken stuffed w cumin goat cheese and topped with dates. Greek salad in cucumber crown, Sierra Nevada Torpedo on draft! Check in on yelp for free dessert! Very personal service. Rhubarb meringue pie --delish! Terrific food and service at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!

Went for their famed happy hour. The good: homemade sangria, $3 beer special, seared ahi tuna app, sweet potato tots nicely seasoned. The bad: charged $12 per glass for what our young waitress called the "house" Pinot, hardly a happy price (she insinuated that the Pinot was the happy hour wine); the mussels, which tasted of the sewer and made me a little sick. The ambience is pleasant in the horseshoe bar area, with high round tables and only one TV spoiling the mood. In the past, we've had better food and service, but this was not the past.

For an after work drink and bite to eat, Mezzaluna is always my first choice. I have yet to make it past their lounge area to the actual dining area, as I enjoy the bar so much, whether along the horseshoe shaped bar seating, the cocktail tables or the elevated section overlooking the alleyway. I think of their M burger often and it is hard not to order that when I visit. Very juicy burger and I like mine with dill hivarti cheese and the asiago tots and a glass (or two) of Stella. I've also had the meatballs, fish & chips and crab cakes. All this is off the lounge menu plus there are several other choices. If you get there before 6pm (or after 10pm), you can even get them at the very low happy hour prices. I have been dying to try their Saturday night midnight brunch but that hasn't happened yet. It is currently on hiatus now for awhile. I heard the last brunch a couple weeks ago was so wildly popular that some people were eating in the hallway of the building. Another great way to start or top off the evening is to see a movie at the alleyway neighbor Fargo Theatre before or after your visit.

I really, really enjoyed dining here last night. Eclectic interior, super friendly / service oriented staff. The food and drinks were fabulous! I had the prosciutto wrapped shimp over mascarpone polenta (outstanding) and the Filet Mignon with Horseradish Butter & Balsamic Shallots. The filet was one of the best I've ever had, hands down. I wish you were closer to my home outside Boston Mezzaluna!

So far one of my favorite restaurants in Fargo. The asparagus egg rolls and pork rillette are amazing. The egg rolls are light, crispy, and delicious. The rilette was paired with port infused cherries and caramelized onions. The sausage and summer squash pasta was fabulous. The pasta is freshly made and it literally melts in your mouth! The sable cod was ok. It was paired with a saffron polenta, prosciutto, and roasted carrots. Individually each item was great, however the combination didn't strike me, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The drinks are great. You can really taste the quality of ingredients. We had the Moscow Mule, Dark and Stormy, and Thai Coconut and I would recommend each one. Of the desserts we had (creme brûlée and strawberry rhubarb meringue pie), I would recommend the creme brûlée. Besides the food and drinks, the service and ambiance is wonderful. I will definitely be returning!!!

After weeks & months on finding time, I finally made a stop here when visiting from St. Paul! My cousin & I arrived around 11 on a Saturday evening...we sat by the bar, and our bartender Michael was AMAZING! He asked what we like ... he made a Sazerac for myself, and my cousin had a red wine. WOW! Both were good!! The overall vibe of Mezzaluna is what I love the most. I'll be a regular now when I visit Fargo. If YOU are reading this - whether you're a local or a visitor, make a stop here. NOW! You won't regret it. On a side note: their decor is sexy. Ugh, LOVE IT! Also, when visiting a new place, find a seat up by the bar...it gives you a chance to introduce yourself to the bartenders, socialize a little, and they'll hook you up. Thanks again Mezzaluna! Can't wait to return.

We went during their busy hours. We had made reservations so when we arrived we were greeted and seated immediately. The host was very friendly. Both he and our server were very engaging even though it was busy and they had a full house to attend to. There was no was no wait for food it was timed perfectly. If your on a budget go during happy hour the best time to sample. Our dinner for 4 including top was about $200. We think for the price it was high for the Fargo area but its pretty unique and a great dinning experience. It is small inside and its very noisy. So that is something to think take in to consideration.

Emily was our waitress and her recommendations were spot on. The monk fish which is a very rare special was exceptional and it was very refreshing to have a waitress that really knew the entire wine list just as well as she knew the menu. If your travels take you to Fargo this is a "must go "place.

I travel a lot for work and eat all over at places that claim to have the "best _______" in town, the state, or the world. They never deliver. THIS place made no such claims, but I kid you not, I just ate the most amazing macaroni and cheese in my entire life. I was skeptical, because after all, it's basically kids' comfort food in my opinion. This was not. The creamy cheese, the bacon, the toasted breadcrumbs...oh and the three slices of toasted, buttery bread! Unreal. A great helping of food too. They didn't skimp on size. I was stuffed. Additionally, I have gone to places where I've paid triple to eat a meal and had great service. That's expected. But this server of mine, a gentleman in a beret...the most professional yet friendly server I've ever had. Although I didn't order all that much food since it was just me, I was treated like I was the only person that mattered. I will absolutely recommend this place to anyone coming through Fargo. And although I hate ND, I'd drive many a mile to eat here again.

My husband and I visited this restaurant when we were in town for a wedding; we were excited to try it because of all the high reviews but left disappointed. I had the Porcini-Crusted Veal Chop and my husband had the Crab-Stuffed Walleye...both were just mediocre...it wasn't bad, but it wasn't five-star quality. I will say the Fried Mozzarella Caprese Salad was delicious as were the small bite desserts. However, one example of not being five-star were the Garlic-Asiago Tater Tots...they weren't homemade and just tasted like frozen tater tots with garlic seasoning and some cheese shredded on top (in a five-star restaurant, I would expect these to be homemade). I am not trying to sound pretentious, I am only trying to explain why I am giving this place three stars compared to the usual five everyone seems to be awarding this restaurant. I am not saying I would not return...maybe next time it will be better.

Excellent Happy hour and great food and drink! This is one of my favorites in Fargo!! We were seated in a dining area but could get Happy hour deal. -Thai coconut cocktail: Not very sweet and refreshing. Highly recommend. - Parma Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp with Mascarpone Polenta & Sundried Tomatoes: This is very tasty and good portion. Get this! - Classic Bruschetta with Grilled Bread & Assorted Toppings: This is great for sharing and good portion. Comes with warm toasted bread! Now some from regular dinner menu: -Fried Mozzarella Caprese salad with balsamic greens & tomato-basil relish: I was intrigued about fried mozzarella and it was very good. Crispy outside and soft fresh mozzarella inside. It's not like fried cheese stick. Try this if you like fried mozzarella cheese. You will love this! -Grilled whole fish with sweet potato tots and grilled vegetable: This was OK - Crab Stuffed Walleye Pesto & Fire Roasted Bell Pepper Relish and Sweet Potato Tots: This is substantial and great fish dish. I loved sweet potato tots too! - Desserts are small but good to end the big meal. I really liked Caramel Apple Galette and they had special, cigar-ice cream. When I hesitate to order cigar ice cream, the server offered it to try and it was on the house. How nice!! Very interesting ice cream. You should try it at least once. I've never had such an interesting ice cream. - Complimentary bread: Not warm.. so a little disappointing but you get various home-made bread and crackers. Very friendly and attentive service. Lovely yet very vibrant and chic ambiance. Great for date night or business dinner! PS: Check in Yelp. You can get a free dessert!

Had a fabulous dinner at Mezzaluna in Fargo while traveling for business. The service was excellent even though I was a single table in the middle of her section. The Caprese salad was very good and the pheasant was spectacular. I would highly recommend.

For those looking for The Silver Moon, stop looking, this is it!!! My wife and I live out of town now but have a soft spot for this place. We were happy to see it re-opened. The menu looks great but we went for happy hour. If you're looking for an assortment of different flavors, give it a try. We got the meatballs and shrimp to share. There was plenty for each of us and you could easily do 4-5 people with as many apps to share. Also, the HH beer isn't a simple domestic. They put flavorful beer out there. For $3, it is hard to find a better pint in town. Sure, they are most likely just shifting stock, but I had a seasonal brew in that same season..... Enjoy, we did and we will be back!

The experience at Mezzaluna is towards the top end (if not THE top end) of fine dining in Fargo. The food, drinks, atmosphere, service, and every other checkbox is at a level every other restaurant in the area should strive for. I gave four stars in my review because I think for a restaurant at their level there are still some issues to work through when it comes to the harmony of flavors on the plate.

I've been wanting to try Mezzuluna ever since it opened back in 2012; well, my wife and I finally got our opportunity to the other night, and what an experience it was! Mezzaluna is located in a 100-year old building, right off of Broadway, in downtown Fargo. I was anticipating some issues getting inside (my wife is in a wheelchair), but I was relieved to find out that a back entrance to the building is sloped. We made a reservation for 9:00 PM on a Wednesday, thinking that the place wouldn't be as busy. Well, it didn't exactly work out that way; thank goodness I had the sense enough to call ahead with a reservation! They had a table reserved for us with a chair already removed (for my wife), and I thought that was pretty cool. I could tell this place prided itself on its wait staff, as well as their food and drink. I had heard rumors that their bar staff was legendary, and they certainly didn't disappoint! I had a Summit on tap with dinner, and a JoDo Sour (their version of a Whiskey Sour) after dinner. My wife wanted a martini, but none of the ones on their drink menu interested her. Our waitress suggested that we let the head bartender "make her something that wasn't on the menu". "Sure; why not" was my wife's reply. That guy is an alcohol wizard! He made her a Strawberry Basil (whatever the heck that is), and she insisted I try it; I have to admit, it was pretty tasty! It kind of reminded me of a mojito, but it had strawberries and basil in there, so it was different enough to not be confused. Our appetizer was their Sweet Potato-Pork Belly Hash. You know how everyone says, "Bacon makes everything better"? Bacon is the stuff you scrape off the bottom of your trash cans compared to pork belly! The hash also has a fried egg and maple-balsamic syrup on top of it; it was, in a word, Nirvana. For our main entrees, my wife had the Pistachio Encrusted Rack of Lamb w/ Orange and Mint Gremolata, and I had the Grilled Duck Breast & Leg Confit with Lingonberry-Pecan Preserves. Everything was amazing, and I can't truly put into words just how good it was! For dessert, we tried a couple of their dessert bites (Crème Brulee and Espresso Chocolate Cake). What is a dessert bite you ask? It's exactly what it sounds like; two or three bites of said dessert, served out of a shot glass. I guess I'm just used to the six-dollar, "Death by Chocolates" of the world, but you pay for quality here, not quantity. Speaking of which, be ready to plop down some serious coin for the stuff here. It's totally worth it, but I would only suggest this place for a special event (anniversary, birthday, etc.). I've heard their Happy Hour is one of the best in town, so we'll probably go there for that the next time we decide to go here. Either way, Mezzaluna is one of Fargo's best, if not THE best, fine dining restaurants!

  • Mary H.

The food and service were outstanding! The only reason I deducted a start was because of parking. There is a small lot to the north of the building that is available after 5 otherwise it is on the street.

Mezzaluna is one of the absolute finest restaurants I've ever visited, and I recommend it highly if you are the type of person that is pleased by fine dining. I was surprised to see that there were many fine dining options in the downtown Fargo when I was planning a move here, but Mezzaluna exceeded my expectations in every regard. I love absolutely everything about it--the decor and ambiance, the menu and dining options, the charming service, and even the kitchen windowfront where the brigade de cuisine takes their rightful place in the spotlight. The menu features an evolving caste of entrees in the $20.00-$40.00, excellent appetizers/soups/salads, and a cocktail bar. This is the type of restaurant where you make a reservation and spend your money on the entire experience, not just the food. Mezzaluna is first and foremost a fine dining restaurant, and you can expect the usual decorum thereof. However, I was very impressed to see that you could visit their happy hour to enjoy drinks and appetizers that are featured in the full menu at reduced prices. I am fully convinced that this will hook you into spending the money on full dinner there. I have only been once for the happy hour specials, but I was super impressed with my appetizer (which was also featured in the full dinner menu, no differences) and my beer was only about $5.00. Full dinner service is beyond excellent. The food is simply delicious across the board. I've sampled about half the appetizers and highly recommend the Szechuan Seared Tuna and Pepper Baked Brie. They were meals in-and-of themselves, and exceeded what I expected. For dinner, I've had or sampled many of the entrees, but not even most at this point. Never the less, I would hands-down recommend the Bacon-wrapped Bison Meatloaf. It's one of the best meals I've ever had, and it still remains my favorite after sampling other entrees. With that said, the Crab Stuffed Walleye is interesting and mixes both local tastes with a more cosmopolitan flair. If you ever get the chance, you should always try to specials--the beef tips with chianti gravy are rich and fulfilling. Simply fantastic in all regards. Tip: Make reservations, even if it is not expected to be busy, because you are more likely to end up with better seating. Don't go alone, bring as many friends as you can muster--then you can sample more of the items across the table (assuming no one is too icked out by cooties). Be sure to check out the entrance on Roberts St if you are interested in a peek behind the scenes. You'll see what I mean when you get there.

Uniquely delicious food, great customer service, great atmosphere... a surprising find especially for a smaller city. It's one of those restaurants where the food makes your taste buds dance. It'd be a great place to take a date. Although, I would say that prices are $$$ instead of $$.

Fantastic service, fantastic food, fantastic ambiance. Is there anything more to say? Traveling from out of town this place was an oasis in the (getting better), city of Fargo ND. This is the first restaurant I've been to in the area where a Manager greeted every guest at the door. The menu embraces the food of the plains, but pushes it into new flavors. Best experience I've had in months! Skip the Olive Garden in Grand Forks and holler at your girls at Mezzaluna.

This is one of my favorite places in Fargo and could hold it's own in big city. I've taken my lovely lady here a time or two and it's never disappointed. The atmosphere is prefect for the beginnings of a romantic evening, or for a nice dinner with clients. If you're taking a date make sure to reserve a both as the are a lot more intimate, they're high back crescent shaped booth seats behind a round table leaving you free to scoot close and allowing plenty of room on the table. The table seating is a little more cramped but can accommodate a larger party and I've seen them seat pretty large parties. The food is great and cooked well I got the crab stuffed walleye last time to try and I'd probably not get it again though it was a little fishy. Every thing else I've tried is great even the tater tots ya they're defiantly worth a try!

Mezzaluna is a favorite for Happy Hour! Not only are there great cocktails to enjoy, but their appetizer menu is awesome! Oh, and half price! Which is a bonus because the food is absolutely delicious, you will want to keep ordering more and more! A personal favorite, from the appetizer menu, is Mezzaluna's Sesame-Chicken Fried Rice. Hands down, the best fried rice in Fargo-Moorhead! No Asian restaurant can touch this, awesome! Other favorites are the Pan Seared Scallops and the "Rare" Szechuan Seared Tuna. Both very fresh and delectable! Mezzaluna's Happy Hours are twice daily! Tuesday-Saturday from 4:00-6:00pm and later from Tuesday & Wednesday from 10:00-11:00pm and Thursday-Saturday 10:00-12:00am. Definitely stop in!

This is one of the best places in town for dinner or drinks. We go here at least weekly if not a couple times a week. Granted, it's on the spendy side, even for downtown, but it's well worth it. The portions aren't huge by any means but the quality makes up for it. A nice dark atmosphere makes for a comfy vibe and a fun place to kill some time with really good wine. They also have quite a selection of handcrafted cocktails. Definitely a must-stop spot.

My wife and I went here for a special date night. We had a great time. The server was friendly and prompt during happy hour. We tried a sampling of some of the favorite plates. The food was cooked with a lot of Good taste. The wife got a steak and it was a little red for her medium well order, but they resolved the problem right away. I would recommend to anyone.

Is this the left bank of Paris, or Fargo? Mezzaluna is a stunner...boisterous, elegant, and sexy. The tall circular bar takes center stage upon entry. Dark wood paneled walls and plenty of plate glass frame this lovely dining room. Vie for one of the plush banquettes in the shape of half shells, large enough to birth Venus all over again. Romantic lighting from the many chandeliers sets the mood convincingly. We started our evening with craft cocktails: a Sazerac ( as fine as any made in the Vieux Carré) and a Brandy Stagecoach. The mixologist (Chris) is a genius who enjoys dazzling his guests with unique flavor combinations, using spirits once popular with our Great Grandparents...what's old is new again. We ordered the porcini dusted veal chop, crisp on the outside and grilled to a delectable medium rare. The earthy flavor of that magic dusting enhances the sweetness of the chop superbly, while the rosemary scented wild mushroom reduction amplifies the nutty goodness of the porcini. Our server recommended the garlic asiago tater tots as the side accompaniment. The New Yorker magazine reviewed Mezzaluna recently and raved about those tots in particular. We fought over who got the last one. The pistachio encrusted rack of lamb was beautifully plated and a perfect medium rare also. Once the choice meat had been demolished, we couldn't resist chewing the crackly bones, crusted with those bits of pistachio. Both entrees were served with sautéed seasonal vegetables: tender haricot verts, baby carrots and balsamic glazed, oven-roasted tomatoes...sweet as jam. Truly a memorable meal and one of the very best repasts in many a moon.

I had the Elk Steak and Elk sausage. It was pretty good. I give it an A-. The brie appetizer was good as well. Both dishes suffered from being served too cool, possibly because the servers were overwhelmed. Presentation was nice.

So refreshing to experience the kind of service experienced last night at Mezzaluna! One of the busiest nights of the year (Valentine's Day) and we walked in without a reservation. The host, decked out in a pink bow tie and pink carnation, took us to 2 spots at the bar that had a reservation sign. He told us they were reserved for us! Not really, but how nice of him to say that. We were promptly brought a glass of ice water and our waiter/bartender introduced himself. Chose to eat appetizers only. The meatball app was excellent, but the shrimp app was to die for. We will definitely be ordering that next time. Topped it off with a couple of mini-desserts, also excellent. Tab was very reasonable. Atmosphere was beautiful, elegant but also fun as there was a lot to watch. This place helped make a very nice evening for us. I would recommend sitting at the bar and watching all the action from there.

I really enjoyed this restaurant and enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the conversation. The bartenders were great and helpful and I had a whitefish that was stuffed with crab which was great. I was just in town for business for a few days but highly recommend if you are traveling in Fargo. I was impressed with the variety of options in Fargo but enjoyed Mezzaluna the most for dinner.

Very good! Almost give a 4 star because it is also very expensive! But, price aside, this is the best food I have eaten in Fargo, just not possibly the best for the price. I really enjoy their pastas but also the drinks are amazing, and their swordfish was also very good.

We arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday and the place was packed. I had made a reservation and we were immediately seated. The staff was amazing and the food was great. We started with the Classic Bruschetta -I highly recommend! My wife chose the Bacon wrapped Chicken breast and I had the Balsamic Grilled NY strip. My only mistake was that I did not reserve a booth, the dining area we sat in was very loud and hard to carry on a conversation with my wife!

Beautiful venue, and delicious food. Very classy and upscale. I've only been once, but I'd go back. Prices are through the roof though.

Had dinner here while in Fargo for a business trip---what a gem! My colleague and I shared a cheese and meat plate, while I had the salmon for dinner. Definitely worth stopping in while in the area!

  • Rikki L.

The food and service were outstanding! The only reason I deducted a start was because of parking. There is a small lot to the north of the building that is available after 5 otherwise it is on the street.

Happy Hour rocks! Walleye tacos: sweet, savory, and crunchy. Heavenly. Stuffed peppers with black bean/quinoa: bursting with flavor and spice. Seared Ahi: like butter! Throw in the sparkling Cosmos and you are talking fun. Staff was wonderful
