My family stayed the night in Fargo before my flight. For starts, the service was great! Our waiter was friendly and patient in answering all our questions (how big are the margaritas? How big is the bean dip? etc...) The family ordered the queso as we can't usually get this west of the Missouri. LOVED it! We also ordered the bean dip which was good, but could use some spices to season it. The Chilli Relleno combination with rice and beans was great as was the cheese enchiladas (no clumpy gross cheese as it cooled down). I had the mango quesadilla which was perfect and flavorful. The guacamole that came on the side was fresh and also perfect. I could eat quac, queso, and bean dip every day meal and be in heaven. The price can't be beat for the quality or quantity of food. If I am ever in Fargo again, I will be back!

Absolutely, positively, THE BEST Mexican food you can get in FM. The staff is very friendly. The server who helped us the first time remembered us the next time, down to what we ordered. All of the dishes we have tried have been excellent. In addition to having great flavors, it's obvious they are preparing each dish fresh, without pre-made sauces or other components. The queso blanco was also excellent. Price wise, it is on target with, to slightly less than what you will pay at some of the "chain" Mexican places in town. It is attached to the same building as a gas station - do not let this fool you - it is a great place with the best Mexican food you're going to have until you get to the Twin Cities.

The best Mexican in fargo by far! The margaritas are delicious, the guac is amazing, service is prompt and friendly, and the carnitas are incredible!

First time dining and it was awesome. The service was very good and the food even better. There were 7 of us in the group and they had no problem accommodating us. The endless chips and salsa was tasty. We also had the shrimp cocktail which had great flavor. We all ordered something different and it was all great. Big portions, excellent flavor, affordable prices.

Ordered the enchilada and taco lunch plate. Prior to the meal, the customary chips and salsa came out. Unfortunately, the chips were tasteless and the salsa watery and lacking flavor as well. The choice of meats in my entree was a nice surprise; I chose shredded beef. The enchilada was standard with a good flavor. The taco was bland with the cheese providing little flavor. Rice and beans were typical Mexican style and both were nicely seasoned. Overall, an average visit with good service.

I don't care what time off day I come to Mangos I also have most exceptional service and food. Today we order the guacamole dip it is a mouthful of heaven it's creamy texture and spices meld into your mouth. The chips are crispy. We also order jalapeños stuffed poppers the cheese was tangy and delicious not your normal Philadelphia cream cheese which made it all the more special and a surprise when I took a bite the coating on the outside was crispy the peper moist and the cheese creamy and delicious. The kids burrito was as big as the adult meal and the bites that were shared with me were very good. You should come and check it out and see what favorite food is your.

I consider myself pretty well versed in food. I know what is good and what is not. Paradiso = crap. Ground Round, AppleBees, Pizza Hut, disgusting. Why on earth would you go to these places when there are fantastic joints where they actually cook instead of pulling something out of the freezer and straight into the fryer. Mango's is by far the best Mexican place in FM! Hands down no question. Acapulco is very good also but this place amazing. Their portion sizes are insanely huge. If you walk out of here it's your own fault. The Molcajete for Two was divine and could of fed 4. Dont let the outside dissuade from going. You wont be disappointed.

Visiting and a friend said that this is the real deal. I live in AZ so wasn't expecting to be too impress but they put on a good show. Did the molcajta. I had never even heard of it. For sure enough for two....without ordering the "2 person" size. Good kids menu. Homemade food here! I've done Mexican Village. It has sentimental value but this is what I would suggest. No curb appeal at all, but the food is why you come to this place

Mangos is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in the fm area. Good prices, good portions, and authentic food.

On vacation from California, so my standards are high. My friends tell me I must go to this mexican place at a gas station, really? Am I going to really eat at a gas station??.Free salsa and chips came to the table and it was yummy, good sign. Mango margarita also very good strong and cheap! Started with guacamole it was ok I tjink they mixed the avocado with sour cream to make it. Main course got the chicken enchilada and Chile relleno platter. The enchilada sauce could be better, beans and rice was ok not the best I've had. The dish overall was good but not fabulous. Service A+ they are very attentive.

Why did I take me 3 years in Fargo before trying it? Maybe I was put off by the lackluster outside appearance. Don't be! Best Mexican food in Fargo. Tuesday is all-you-can-eat taco night for $5. A real steal. The chicken was moist. Beef was tasty. Great deal. I returned the next week and tried a lunch enchilada special. Also delicious. My friend had a veggie enchilada. It was honest-to-goodness veggies. I expected like some lettuce and tomato or something lame. This had real mixed grilled veggies. Also good. I'll definitely come back. Why did it take me 3 years?

I visited Mango's in August on a weekday evening with my mother for dinner. The service was very prompt, from the polite greeting by the (manager/owner?), to being seated and served and finishing with a cheerful goodbye from the same person who greeted us. My mother wanted Mexican and assumed we would visit Paradiso. But having read a few reviews on Yelp, I convinced her to give Mango's a try. We both agreed it was a good decision. We ordered guacamole to eat with the appetizer chips and it was delicious. It was not commercial guac paste, but obviously made on site using actual avocados and other ingredients. My mother ordered a vegetarian quesadilla (with chicken added), because she wanted all the veggies that came with it. I ordered enchiladas, which came with spanish rice and refried beans with melted cheese on top. The portion sizes were both considerable and reasonably priced. The food was exactly what you expect when you go out for inexpensive Mexican-American fare. Nothing that will elicit squeals of pleasure, but certainly no disappointments. If there were any negative takeaways, they were minor relative to the expectations we had given the type of meal we wanted: - Neither the exterior or interior of the establishment are impressive, nor do they attempt to be. It is what it is. - Our server was unable to offer much help in terms of a suggestion for which type of enchilada I should order. But as I said, minor issues.

Have been enjoying meals here for the past several years. Most everything on the menu is great. Especially the 'lighting service. Son loves the carnittes I love the various shrimp dishes. The wait staff loves to give grief but can also take it. Lunch or dinner you will get an enjoyable hot heat meal. One of the areas best kept secret. Keep up the great work.

Warning: I am from California, so my expectations of a Mexican restaurant are pretty high. I have been in Fargo for about 2 years now. One thing I dearly miss from California is the Mexican food. For the most part, the Mexican restaurants in Fargo are pretty bad, so I am always cautious when I try a new restaurant here. But, I keep my hopes up that I will find a good place. As far as Mexican restaurants in Fargo go, I would say Mango's is at the top. I came here with a friend a little while back. Like many in Fargo, he doesn't really care too much for Mexican food, so he kept his order simple and went for the tacos. I ordered a pretty simple two taco and cheese enchilada combo, and we started off with a large side of guacamole to go with the chips. The guacamole, while slightly turning brown, had a good taste. You could actually see pieces of onion and tomato in it, unlike the lazy pre-packaged avocado paste that other restaurants here serve as guacamole. The chips and salsa were also pretty tasty. Better than many other restaurants in the area. Our meals came out quickly. We each got the picadillo beef tacos, and I had a ground beef taco and a cheese enchilada included in my combo. I should probably explain that picadillo beef is a seasoned and slow-cooked shredded beef. The texture will take some getting used to if you are accustomed to ground beef tacos, but the change is very worth it. The picadillo was pretty good. The meat was seasoned, and not just stewed. The big problem is that it suffered from the same problem all of the Mexican restaurants suffer from here - mass-produced hard taco shells. This taco would be so much better if they would use some home made tortillas or at least freshly made taco shells. It would probably end up being cheaper for them, too. The ground beef taco was pretty average. I would actually choose the ground beef from the Taco Shop over any sit-down Mexican restaurant so far (but they too suffer from the mass-produced taco shell problem). The cheese enchilada was also average. They would benefit from some fresh-made enchilada sauce and some onion - though I understand the onion might be off-putting to some here. The beans and rice that came with my meal were also average. I understand a lot of people have a problem with good refried beans, because they are made with lard and/or bacon grease but, man, is there a difference. I wish some places around here would make the good beans. For a healthier alternative, restaurants could offer frijoles de la olla or black beans to those that want them. I talked with a server at another Mexican restaurant one day and he explained that it is very expensive for them to get good, fresh ingredients up here in Fargo. The nationwide supplier jacks the prices up on them. So I do understand the limitations they are under. But there are still ways you can grow/use fresh herbs and spices, and that would make a tremendous difference in the taste of the food. The price was very reasonable. Actually lower than a like meal at someplace like Mexican Village. Overall, not a bad experience. I would come back again.

This is the second time I have been to this restaurant. Phenomenal both visits. The chips are made in house and the salsa is amazing. The food is extremely fresh and well prepared. Service was a bit slow on both visits but the food is worth it. We have been to several of the Mexican restaurants in the Fargo area and this is hands down, the best.

This place has Mexican food the way I like it. I like refried beans to be very light, guacamole not to thick and very fresh. The plates won't burn your hands like some places do. The service is right on top of everything. The meals are large and nicely priced. For example $10 will get you a nice big plate. They have all the Mexican beers and today they had Pacifico for only $2.50 which was very nice. This is one of those places where you should order guacamole without question. I also really appreciate polite service that is not annoying. I can't stand hearing that phrase "how are the first couple bites?" The service here is very polite and totally confidant that the food is good. They project the attitude that the food is good and they know it's good. I also like that the manager comes around and says "how are you amigos?" The server asks "how are you today?" Service like this is becoming annoyingly rare these days. This is a place to come for good food and outstanding service.

The service was good, but the restaurant was not very clean and quite run down. Food tasted ok, but definitely low quality and frozen, nothing was fresh.

My favorite dish from here is the steak tacos from the grill. The soft corn tortillas are lightly grilled, the steak is tasty, and the tacos come with sides of pico de gallo and salsa verde. My girlfriend and I came here almost every weekend. She'd pick the mole enchiladas. There's also a pork dish in salsa verde that's pretty good. The carnitas are good as well. The beans are creamy and the rice is flavorful. Like some others have said, this is definitely not like Mexican Village or Paradiso. Soft corn tortillas are much more common here, and the dishes are not nearly as salty. The food tastes much fresher.

This place really deserves 0 stars. I decided to pass on Vinyl taco to try something different. Consulted yelp to find a hole in the wall mexican restaurant, as they can be surprisingly good from time to time. Do not be mislead by the other reviews! This will be the worst mistake you ever make!!! Bathroom... FILTHY!!! Service is mediocre. The chips & salsa were meh. Lack of condiments. Taco meat literally looks like slop & taste even worse. Asked for tomatoes to compliment my tacos... 75 cents. Tamales... Don't bother, barely any meat, all corn masa! I'm not sure how it's possible to mess up refried beans but Mangos has found a way. Also ordered a Dos Equis which was warm. Frosted glass at least? HA! Good luck. Save yourself the disappointment. Avoid this place like the plague!!!

Our favorite place to go! This restaurant has awesome drink specials every night and the food is delicious, far better than Mexican village or any other chain Mexican food joint in the area. A+!

Excellent food I was very impressed- I would have to say out of the FM area this is the best Mexican food I have had thus far.. However, I wish the rice wasn't so well cooked.. it doesn't compare to many of the places in Minneapolis.. which is why I gave it 4 out of 5.. In general I think it was wonderful though and like I said again I was impressed

My favorite Mexican restaurant in town! They have delicious seasonings and create tasty dishes. One of my favorites is that they carry my preferred hot sauce Tapatio. It was the little things that make me happy here.

Worst chile relleno I've ever had. I'd rather eat a frozen relleno heated up in a microwave.

I've been meaning to go to this place for some time now, but it never worked out for me; until yesterday. Mango's is not the typical Mexican restaurant you'd find in Fargo; it's authentic! My wife and I were out running errands yesterday, and we happened by the place around lunchtime. We're always wanting to try different places in Fargo/Moorhead, and this was perfect timing. We walked in, and they were busy; a good sign. After waiting to be seated for a couple of minutes, the manager, who was working the till at the time, apologized to us, and to the four people in line at the cash register, as he grabbed a couple of menus and seated us himself. I recalled seeing a 'Help Wanted' sign on the door as we walked in, and I'm guessing this had something to do with it. I decided not to hold that against them, as stuff like that can ruin a person's perception of an otherwise awesome place. As we looked over the menu, the prices caught my eye; they were all fairly reasonable! Yet another good sign! Our waitress came over with a basket of warm tortilla chips and a mini carafe of salsa, and took our drink orders. Chips and salsa were good; salsa wasn't super chunky, and had a perfect amount of heat to it. Our waitress brought us our beverages and took our lunch orders. My wife excused herself to use the restroom, and before she got back our food was already at our table! Five minutes, tops! I was really impressed by this, but that soon took a backseat to how impressed I was with the food. In a word, phenomenal! Despite having a decent-sized Latino community (for an Upper-Midwest town, anyway), most of the area's "Mexican" restaurants are Tex-Mex; not this place! Both my wife and I had the Beef Chimichangas, and we shared a Chicken Empanada with sour cream and guacamole. It was all delicious! Some Fried Ice Cream rounded-out our meal. So glad we finally tried Mango's! My only regret is that we didn't try it sooner!

Excellent Mexican cuisine! If you like Acapulco, you'll like these guys too! The salsa is most excellent. The nachos taste great, as do the tacos. Also: the kids menu is HUGE, the helpings are very generous and the price is more than fair. Check out their all-you-can-eat tacos on Tuesday!

In town for three weeks to do some training and my friend wanted Mexican food. Yelped Mexican food and found this little gem. I would agree with the rest of the reviews, this place was really good. The beer was really cold and served in frosted mugs. I had the Choro Pollo (chorizo chicken) dish and it rocked. I go to Mexico on vacation and I will say that this is first time I ate the refried beans, all the re-fried beans! They were excellent. I had the flan for dessert and it was as good as I have had also. I do want to say that our waitress, Teresa, was one of the waitresses I have had anywhere. Friendly, helpful, fun and extremely attentive! I cannot think of anything they could do better.

Very good especially for bland old North Dakota. I was very surprise with the quality and quantity of there food. Ask for the spicy salsa if you like some heat. Not overpowering but very tasty. Don't forget about their lunch specials either. Very good bargain. I recommend this place to anyone who wants something better in the Mexican food arena..

I love Mexican food, I love it. There isn't much for good Mexican in Fargo, but Mangos is the best! You will be pleased. They also have great lunch specials, fast service, the wait staff is awesome, we get the same two servers every time and they love joking around with us.

This is the best Mexican food in Fargo. It's the closest to authentic, the staff is friendly and laid back, the service is fast, and the cooks know how to plate one delicious meal! Gracias to Mango's on Main. I love you!!

I was not expecting very good Mexican food from this place since. I have one of the best Mexican restaurants ever within a five minute walk from my house in Chicago. Mango's had quite a task ahead of them living up to my standards for Mexican food. Once I started eating, I knew that this place was going to rank right there with some of the better I have had. The food was quite delicious. The prices were more than reasonable. Our service was good and the atmosphere and decor was nothing to get me excited. I will give it to them that when you put out such a good meal, decor and atmosphere are not going to be all that important. I only get out to Fargo a couple times a year. I am sure hoping that this establishment is around for he long haul so it is there the next time I am in town.

O M G! I never visited while this place was Jalepeno's I or II. I have no prior opinion of this place. That said, let me begin by saying "People of Fargo! This is not Mexican Village. If you are looking for Fargo-y Mexican food, you WILL be disappointed." That said, if you like Mexican food, please come here. I don't ever want it to close. I can't believe I found my own little heaven in Fargo. This is as authentic as it gets. Please note, I lived in the Southwest for 4 years and although I am a Midwesterner, I am a Mexican food bitch. Was it perfect, no. But let me describe the food and drinks. We had a pitcher of mid-shelf margaritas. It was at least 5 drinks. It was good in the way that it wasn't overly sweet, I don't like the premade marg mix. They may have made the mix earlier, but it wasn't from a bottle of Mr. and Mrs. T's Mix. Chips and salsa to start. Chips fried there, came warm and not overly salty. Salsa was good. Not great, but I make my own and am very picky. I admit I never even asked if they had any others than what they served. My husband had the steak tacos. They were authentic in two ways: not a lot of crap added, and the tortillas were very real. The pico was great, especially when added to the tacos. The beans were amazing, very pinto-y. It also came with some very smooth tomatillo sauce. I had two of my Mexican food staples: Chile Rellenos and tamales. The rellenos, O M G. Seriously, I am kind of at a loss for words. Um, I really am still kind of recovering. The tamale had some wonderfully seasoned meat with that wonderful tamale outside. Together they were served with rice and beans. I already expressed my love o'the beans, but even the rice was good. I have never liked Mexican rice too much, so I am not a good judge of that. Our server was good, not GREAT, but good. The atmosphere was VERY classic American-Mexican decor. Plus, lots of Hispanic folks in the place. That seems to convey something. There was a table of 4 people there that seemed angry and upset, but they also looked like a bunch of farm kids in for the weekend. I heard smarmy comments about the beers they ordered (they tried some Mexican beers). I am sure they expected Mexican Village or Paradiso. PSST, I like Paradiso, it's just not very Mexican. Again, please come here if only to keep this place open for me.

Probably the most authentic of all the Mexican restaurants in Fargo. If your only used to tex mex you might not like this place but if you do like authentic this is the place to go it has a homey atmosphere and good service as well as good food check it out if your feeling adventurous

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
