Good food, and you can have a few laughs and fun if you decide to sit at the grill. Scorpion bowl is a must try if you have drinking plans.

Probably some of the best sushi in Fargo. I like them and Wasabi downtown but this place has more food. My wife doesn't like sushi so this is our go to stop when we are back in the area visiting family.

What a completely enjoyable dining experience! The atmosphere and service were great. They were very friendly, polite, and informative. The chef was a treat to watch, and really made this a fun and interactive experience. The food was VERY good, fresh, cooked to our specifications, and beautifully presented. *Despite one negative and very verbose rating on this page, I encourage you to try them. We drove 2 hours for this dinner out, and WILL certainly do it again! Thank you Kobe's staff.

The inside was dirty and the outside was not maintained at all. Floors and chairs were sticky and the menus smelled like mildew. The only good thing was the actual hibachi chef. Won't be going back for a return trip, too expensive for the low quality experience.

We had a good time while at the sushi bar here at Kobe's drinks with good sushi we tried Tuna cucumber, spring time roll, Philadelphia roll, (spicy Crab salad complimentary) all of it was exceptional delicious I will definitely be coming back here again to try other styles and sushi and drinks.

I love Kobe's! The only downfall tonight was I was to full to get any sushi! It was a hibachi night. I had the hibachi with shrimp and scallops and it was SO good. Of course, I ate way to much food, but I do love a take home container. We also shared a few appetizers. The staple, edamame, the Thai Style Crispy Calamari and the Shrimp Shumai. All are worth an order! For dessert, I tried the Green Tea Ice Cream...surprisingly refreshing and yummy, very good with a dessert sake!

Awesome place to eat, very good service, food and friendly staff. We were there right up until closing and the staff did not try to push us out the door. Everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed the food, and sake. They let my daughter feed the koi fish and she loved the chicken teriyaki off the kids menu.

Got take out last night, the inside of this building was beautiful. i had there Sushi dinner and the Combination ( chicken and steak) teppanyaki dinner it was pretty pricey but even with take out it was the best food i've had in a while and there sushi was very good ( was my first time eating sushi and i really enjoyed it) maybe not an all the time dinner place but defiantly an experience to repeat ! :)

Kobe's is great choice for fun and great tasting Japanese cuisine. The Teppanyaki experience is very entertaining and I always leave completely stuffed full. It is not just a great meal, but you are entertained while your meal is made. It is like Chucky Cheeses for adults, but you won't end up with influenza after the visit! To my amazement, there are always family's with young children there loving the food (my nieces and nephews can't and won't do anything but pizza and chicken nuggets). I enjoy the sushi at Kobe's as well. I am not a big fish fan, but the spicy tuna roll is one of my favorites! I really want to try some of their signature rolls because they look awesome!

Sushi rolls were good. Hibachi show was enjoyable. Wine was good. It's a little overpriced, but meh - what are you gonna do? It's Fargo - I'm happy to have sushi and not get food poisoning. Always have an enjoyable experience.

What can I say, UNBELIEVABLE Service and the food is fantastic! The entertainment aspects of having my food cooked in front of me make it even that much more memorable and enjoyable for the whole family.

Nothing impressive just another imitation of Japanese restaurant, I'm thankful that they are doing business because it's hard to find help in North Dakota. When I think about Sushi... I shake my head (cream cheese imitation crab and deep fried entire thing and topped with another deep fried imitation crab, and bunch of spicy mayo and unagi sauce) How about term of Sushi; fresh vibrant light and tasty... Like an art but it's was truly opposite of what I know about sushi, I think that teppanyaki dinner was good, but friend rice was little off, I was couldn't eat it much

It is a normal chain... nothing spectacular but the food is good enough. The sushi isn't fantastic... I would go other places for sushi but the hibachi is good... I don't like sitting at the tables but I do like to sit and order away from where they cook it. It is a chain... so it isn't anything special... but people here are very excited about it so I support that. If you want sushi, go to Wasabi or one of the others... but the food is fresh and service is decent.

I should have learned from the last time my wife and I ate at Kobe's. Here is a brief history. Last winter, we went out to eat. We were seated in a booth, and were immediately greeted by our server. That may have been the last time we saw him the rest of the time. Turns out, he poached our table from the server assigned to our section. I can only imagine our service being perfect had she served us. She was extremely attentive to the three tables she had, whereas our server was busy running from one end of the restaurant to the other. After sitting for 10 minutes with no refills or our order taken, we should have left. Our mistake. We ended up spending 2 hours there for a meal and unattentive service. I was so frustrated that I fetched my own to go containers so that we could speed up our departure. When we finally received the check, I could no longer justify tipping the terrible service. I did however tip our non server for grabbing our refills and checking on our food and basically doing someone else's job. Fast forward to this past Saturday. We walked in, and they were dressed in Halloween costumes. A little off putting since Halloween had passed, but nothing crazy. Our server came and took our drink order, sushi, and food order. 45 minutes later, he came by to check on our food. Never asked for a refill. 30 minutes later, he came by and asked us if we needed a box for our food. We should have said no. We watched him walk by us twice, never with anything in his hand. It seemed that he kept forgetting and remembering every time he passed us. We finally received our boxes, but no check. That was twenty minutes later. When it finally arrived, I dug deep into the wallet to make sure to have exact change. There was no way he deserved a dime. My wife and I spent the last hour of our meal with empty glasses, never an offer even of a refill. While we were waiting for our meal, we watched a four top get seated right next to us. They managed to order, get drinks, receive their food, checks, cards processed, in and out before us. I don't understand how that is possible. How can four receive service faster than two? We didn't order special menu items, we didn't change any items, no complicated special orders, just off the menu. As we were leaving, we mentioned to the couple that just sat down at the table next to us (another in our server's section) how awful the service was. I even pointed out to them that since they had been seated, the server passed them twice and never once acknowledged them. We then left, and as we were leaving, I asked to see the manager. Probably the second dumbest thing I decided to do (first being going to Kobe's to eat). I was stating how awful the service was and how disappointed I was, and rather than empathize or apologize, she defended him. Stated that she was even waiting tables because they were so busy. Baloney! If I can watch other tables receive attentive service and an attentive server, it can't be an restaurant wide issue. Needless to say, that was probably the last time for me to go to Kobe's. There are other options in town for sushi and hibachi. I have continued to frequent Kobe's out of loyalty since they were the first to arrive in town, but no longer The food quality is acceptable, but the service is TERRIBLE. If you are considering Kobe's, I highly encourage you to look at other options first.

I blame myself. I should have known better, given the rather dismal track record that Fargo has had with me. Places in much larger cities will have trouble with this food type, I don't know why I didn't follow my gut hunch and skip going to a place serving it that the city seemed incapable of executing, given the aforementioned experiences with other types of cuisine less demanding. Still, we went, even going in knowing better, as we did. I like the live fish in the fountain, but it stops there. The pseudo-industrial vibe is incredibly off-putting and is not to be found in a single sushi restaurant, say, in Salt Lake, for instance. I presume the owners to be Japanese and it is astounding to me how they could allow such a misfire as that. Sure, throw some random Japanese stuff on the walls and doorways and that's enough, right? No. Not even close. We open the menus anyway and there is no pictures of the sushi and no description of what is in the rolls. No nigiri, no sashimi and at that point, we should have probably just gone, but my wife gamely went with the salmon teppanyaki. The salmon was fairly overdone, but edible, while the rest of it is heavily, heavily Americanized. I'd long given up hope for authenticity here, so no real surprise. I got the sushi roll sampler lunch plate and some tempura, which is usual for me as places rarely screw both up to the point of inedibility. I also had the by-now ubiquitous Diet Mt. Dew, which they also happily had. If there is one redeeming thing about restaurants in this area, it is that many, many of them have that on fountain, though the mix varies. Here, it was pretty good. On the other hand, this place also followed the weird trend of restaurants being hot and stuffy inside, almost as much so as the city itself was outside. But why bother with your patrons being comfortable if you can save a few bucks on electricity, amirite? The sushi was predictably awful, unless you're a fan of mayo and sauce all over everything. I am not and it was very difficult to work through the sushi, which was constructed poorly. I ordered the spicy yellowfish and spicy tuna and both were a sort of mush in the center. About the only way I could tell them apart was the very slight tuna taste, but it was more like the taste of canned tuna. I'm assuming it was. My wife said it looked like catfood. Possibly it was that also. Amusingly, the server seemed shocked when I refused his offer of a fork, not once, but twice and I think now that I should probably have been equally surprised to find chopsticks on the table in the paper sleeve at all. That aside, the tempura was decent, but only just. The shrimp was covered in Panko crumbs, which was both irritating, as I did not order furai and the only thing on the dish to have those. Vegetables were acceptable, but only that. Sometimes you hate to be right and this was one of those. Never again will I be gracing the hallowed doors of this place, though, since Daring is my middle name, I probably will attempt sushi in Fargo again...at least once more.

Bad, bad, bad. I don't wanna go there ever. Food is bad, the waiters there is not every friendly. I sit there, only ask me one time.

My first time having sushi and the waiter was extremely helpful with making a choice. We had the King Crunch Crab Roll. It was awesome. I will definatly be going back.

Pretty standard sushi fare for Fargo-good go to, but not spectacular. I've ate here maybe 10 times & gotten delivery twice. Kobe's does have the best calamari in this area, though! Prices are reasonable, service is good, food tastes fresh, A-OK in my book.

the food is soooo good! Along with everything else!! I recommend it to everyone! I don't really like their fish Pond though, it is beautiful buy those fish look sick... and next time I go in if they don't look any better I will take my money to Osaka or sushi 101. If you're going to have fish for people to look at, take care of them.

I had an phenomenal first experience at Kobe's. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a lovely pond and bridge inside the restaurant containing live coy fish. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and my server was friendly, attentive and overall- fantastic. We happened to visit on half-off bottle of wine night, which in and of itself was an immediate win. I ordered a number of sushi rolls while my colleagues chose chicken teriyaki and beef noodles. For a small Japanese restaurant in fargo, ND, our expectations were set relatively low. However, each of our meals well beyond exceeded our expectations. Our collective experience was absolutely five stars. We will be coming back again the next time we are in fargo and would recommend the restaurant to anyone who desires a mouth watering, authentic Japanese experience!

They sat us down and no one ever came to serve us. Waited 20 minutes then left. Menu looked interesting. Can't say anything about the taste.

Overrated. Chefs lack true flair and the service can be questionable. I have been there 4 times and the rice has been either burned or overcooked each time.

"All the rolls fell apart in the soy sauce. Wasabi was barely smoldering. The eel rolls were good but the fried rice was tasteless."

It's nice to have a good sushi place and to make it fun and lively is an interesting twist. Food quality is good. I didn't like having sake squirted all over my shirt from a mustard container by the chef who apparently thought it was hilarious. I also didn't like being charged for a full round of saki-bombs that I didn't order. I feel like people either weren't paying attention or trying to take us for a ride.

I am a fan, I was not expecting to find good sushi when I was up in North Dakota but I came here a few times for my sushi fix. If nothing has changed in the past month or two the lead sushi chef is a guy that came from NYC, specifically from Sushi Samba..which is known for some fusion type sushi with brazilian influence. There is a bit of a japanese population in brazil, factoid for the day. At any rate he has revamped the menu from what I hear and has some dishes that combine mango and salmon. I am a bit of a sushi purists so I just go for the white tuna, salmon, yellowtail, uni and so forth. But it is extremely fresh fish, he has it flown in once or twice a week I believe. It is pricey for the area but there is not much to choose from so its worth it for something different in the Fargo area. So much that I am tempted to make the three hour drive from SD to Fargo to get my sushi fix next week! And they also do hibachi, not sure how it is but it looked good.

My mom and sister are from ND and love this place. Unfortunately after spending the last 20 years on the West coast the sushi is lacking. The restaurant is clean and the staff was attentive. Food was delivered quickly.

AMAZING. The boyfriend took me here for a weekend away from Forks...it was just that, AMAZING. The whole experience right from walking in the door, to leaving through the front door was wonderful. Shawn, my boyfriend, knows the owner so we got to chat with him a bit ~ and he offered up a complimentary sushi roll, before Shawn shelled out AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF MONEY on all kinds of sushi. I can't honestly review the prices, because I was terrified to look at the bill ~ I wasn't paying ~ so I didn't dare look. I can review the food though. :) I am a newbie to seafood, and I can say that I tried EVERYTHING on my plate.... exceeepppt for the Sea Spiders that Shawn wanted me to eat... ewie. Not really Sea Spiders but the tentacles of Calamari... I just couldn't do it! BUT ~ I did try sea urchins... a different texture, but doable. The best roll I had was something called TUNA CANDY... it was cucumbers, avocado, and something else wrapped in a delicate piece of tuna... it was mouth watering luscious. Gonna be in Fargo? GO HERE.

Great food and the service is awesome. Really enjoyed the fresh sashimi and loved the king crab crunch roll. The chef also made things that I requested that aren't on the menu. Two thumbs up!!!

WOW, Have you stop by at Kobe lately??? I think they are doing a little bit of a facelift. The place look very cozy and much more romantic then before. The music and the pretty servers, this is an absolutely must attend place if you are at FARGO. Try the hibachi grill or the sexy sushi and you will absolutely fall in love all over again. Note: Make reservation for weekend.

Miso was fine. Edamame beans were tinged with brown .Yaki soba was brought out before the maguro (which wipes your mouth out for the subtle taste of the sashimi). Yaki soba was overcooked so the chicken was dry. Yaki udon was overspiced and slimy. Hamachi and ikura were not fresh. The waiter saw two half eaten plates of food and was not interested in why.

This place had OK sushi. It was really cold when we got in there, they just opened and must have had the heat off. But being so cold we noticed is not a good thing. The waiter was aloof.

I am from a city where finding a GOOD restaurant is not a terrible chore like it is in Fargo. I really like Kobes, although I cannot comment on thier sushi because I really am not a fan of sushi in general I can tell you thier teppanyaki is REALLY awesome. Schrimps and Scallops...YUMMY IN MY TUMMY! I have to say thier scallops are the BEST I have ever had in Fargo, not micromini chewed up pieces of bubbleyum like other fishy places here in the midwest. Plus with a teppanyaki chef called the Caucasian Sensation who has got anything on THAT?... and little peepee man squirting my son, bahahaha, and mustard bottles filled with saki sqirting me in the mouth and all over my face AWESOME... I will be back Kobes.... I will be back!!

Good for a Japanese steakhouse in Fargo. Similar atmosphere to Ichyban in Minneapolis. The presentation was fun and our cook did a good job of bringing an air of excitement to the meal. If your looking for a good place to take a date, this is it.

I came in for a funeral and was happy to find Kobe near my hotel (Holiday Inn). To be clear, some of the fish had been frozen and they did not have some sushi staples, but for Fargo this is a great restaurant (in NY or CA, this would be a 3.5 star, but come on, ND is landlocked). We arrived almost at the end of the night and they never pushed us to get out. It was an enjoyable meal with quite good rolls. We went straight to the sushi bar, so I can't say anything for the teppanyaki. I definitely recommend the Amazing Tuna Roll and a large Sapporo. The tuna and kimchi appetizer was also quite good. If you're in Fargo, I definitely recommend Kobe over any of the other restaurants around the mall.
