Believe it or not, Hornbacher's has better sushi than most of the sushi restaurants in Fargo! Sushi is made fresh daily, right in front of you so you know you're getting a fresh product. It is never pre packages or frozen. Not too shabby for a grocery store!

Like others have said, this is a bit pricier than other stores in the FM area, but definitely worth it if you place greater priority on organization, cleanliness, and smaller crowds. They have an excellent organic and international foods selection, and will promote some pretty stellar deals on their produce. Check out lines are always short and move along fast, and I've been impressed with the cashiers' bagging abilities! P.S. There's also a Caribou Coffee inside of here, which has happy hour 1/2 off drink specials from 4-7 pm!

Back when I had the misfortune of living in the area, I always shopped at this chain. It's been my favorite in the area for over 3 decades and I think their meat department, in particular, has always been pretty commendable. They seem to do in-store sausages and those have been pretty nice when I've had them. The store here is pretty well laid out, nice and brightly lit and the produce seems to have finally been brought up to more current standards. There are still some deficiencies in the store, notably in selection, but this is easily the best grocer in the area and does have many offerings that are covered by a Whole Foods (of which there are ZERO in Fargo/Moorhead) or that type of place. With a few minor modifications, it would even hold its own in the very competitive Salt Lake market...I don't find this to be especially expensive for the market, but it is quite a bit more pricey than Salt Lake. At least here vs. the other places in town, you can get some value back for your shekels.

Really wanting a gingerbread muffin, and I WILL look, but I have a hunch they're "out of season"...I'll look for next best...wish me luck!

I agree with the previous poster (Lyndsey C) about the store being very clean, laid out well and having a nice and helpful staff as well as the grocery clerks offering to take it to your car. However, one of my biggest complaints is the produce. Several times over the past few weeks I've gone there to get fresh veggies and they're half-rotten. For instance, I bought corn on the cob, got it home and it was disgustingly slimy and rotting. If you know that you have less-than-fresh product, why are you putting it out to be sold? You could seriously harm your customers, not to mention that it totally wastes our money as consumers. Even though this store is closer to home for me, I won't go to it anymore because of the bad experiences with their produce.

More expensive than other grocery stores in town, but they have a great deli, decent produce and organics section and delicious in-house smokehouse products. Love their smoked salmon and deli meats & cheeses. Staff is helpful and friendly, as others mentioned.

Very clean, nicely laid out, very pleasant staff, all the variety you need, open 24 hours. They have the "load your car for you" option, which is great in a Fargo winter. A great grocery store.
