My husband and I went to Hi-Ho South in search of the Food Network's "best burger" in Iowa. We weren't disappointed. We loved these diner-style burgers and the waffle fries were an added bonus. The location in a shopping mall detracts a little, but it is worth going in. Burger fans won't be disappointed.

This use to be a go to place for me and my wife as we live quite close up until last year when we both got horrific food poising. I'm 100% sure it was from the burgers. We both had the same thing (the cheeseburger special with fries) my daughter wasn't hungry so she didn't end up eating which turned out to be a smart move. An hour later when we were both sitting on the couch watching a movie it hit us. Violent and I mean violent throwing up, let's just say it was coming out of both ends. This place was THE ONLY PLACE WE ATE that day so it was pretty damn easy to identify what had made us ill. Long story short we both had to go to the emergency room and they confirmed it was food poisoning. The next part is what pisses me off the most. I called the restaurant and spoke to the owners son who had served us many times before and seemed like a nice guy. Not true he was a complete ass and didn't even offer an apology. I wasn't looking for much but I wanted to warn them that we got seriously sick from their food, but they simply didn't give a rip. The next day I called the health department because I was legitimately concerned that they may be feeding that same thing to others. The health department of ND said that wasn't the first time they've heard a story similar to ours regarding the hi-ho. We both ended up missing work for 2 days because we simply couldn't move without throwing up. Stay away from here!

Hi-Ho is a classic american burger joint that serves good food and drinks. The burgers are excellent and so is the variety of sides. It has a small arcade with 6-8 games that are somewhat rundown, but a great way to keep the kids busy while your waiting for food. When ever we visit there we are always waited on right away and the food comes very quickly. Overall, this is a good place for the family to sit down and eat.

Uncle Crusher loves this place and it easy to see why-- no frills but definitely great food:). The star here is the hamburger. Do not go here on a diet. I ordered the double cheeseburger and fries. I can see why the locals keep coming back. This was a well executed American standard--great beef flavor, perfectly melted cheese, grilled onions, crisp lettuce on a decent bun. The fries were crisp and hot-- no complaints. If you are looking for a wide beer selection on tap though you are out of luck-- macro beer standards including Coors Light;). Service was friendly but not stellar (waitress forgot part of the order but it was a large party.) So some nits BUT this is not fine dining-- rating based on what this establishment is -- a burger joint and it that arena it does not fail, it shines! WTG Fargo and congrats Bison-- two in a row!

This place is always good. It feels like a small town cafe. Great burgers and yummy pepperjack cheese curds. You can get buckets of beer also. The service is so-so but the food is so worth it.
