Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Clearly one of the top Mexican choices in the Fargo/Moorhead area. I'm not that picky when it comes to actually eating Mexican food (it's always pretty good), but I am picky when it comes to actually thinking the food is quality and close to authentic (partly due to having lived in the Chicago area and consistently getting authentic Mexican food there). Acapulco is as close to authentic as I've found up here. The environment is friendly and welcoming; and the food comes quickly with very large portions (you're not gonna leave hungry here). I've had a variety of options, including tacos, burritos, chimichangas, and enchiladas and they're all really tasty. Served with side orders of rice and refried beans makes these dishes full and satisfying. I've always been too full to try their fried ice cream, one of my favorite desserts, but one of these days I'll have to find room for it.

Decent Mexican plates at low prices. I ordered an enchilada/taco combo and it was satisfactory. Service was subpar, but the interesting and authentic mexican atmosphere made up for it. They have great drink specials, so I would highly recommend for college students trying to grab a few drinks off campus.

Today I tried the #6 off of their lunch Menu: There rice is really fluffy and light, the guacamole was pretty good as well we all know how much of a guacamole snob I am. I would definitely say Acapulco is my 2nd place of all time for the delicious guacamole. I also tried there Jarrritos Mandarin flavor soda it was exceptional good. For a Mexican restaurant in Fargo North Dakota this place is among one of my top picks.

This is my favorite restaurant in town! I am in love with their salsa and refried beans. Great staff. If an order accidentally gets wrong, the proper meal is rushed out. Great drink specials.

This place has a very cool environment that is inviting and pretty friendly. A little lacking as far as serving goes, decent amount of food but a little spendy as far as the quality of food you get. I would recommend for someone who has a coupon or needs a quick lunch.

Ehh it was ok, I'd say very run of the mill Mexican place. I sure wouldn't call it authentic or even good.

As always excellent food and low prices...today it was a huge enchilada meal for $5 and Mexican beers for $2. I always get guacamole with anything I order because this is another outstanding place that knows how to make guacamole the right way. The beans are always light just like I like them.

After seeing high rating, I was excited to try this restaurant. All items are quite cheap and especially lunch deal. However the food was not anything special or flavorful either. Portion size was good but refried beans and sauce was lack of seasoning/flavor. I had combination of enchiladas, cheese stuffed pepper thing and taco. I was quite disappointed. Interior is very mexican though. Colorful walls and all painted chairs.

Best thing: amazing fast food Worst thing: super colorful decor is a little much for some. Not me though! Mexican restaurant in town. Newly renovated from its old decor, very very bright, but fun enough. The staff is always courteous and the food always comes out quick and delicious. It's super affordable too. They recently added a patio (not open yet) and I could see it being a lot of fun to sit outside with your margarita!!

Well...my ground beef enchiladas were purty darn good. Only I ordered cheese enchiladas so for me, it's a two star place but my dark tan hubby had tears in his eyes as he ate so for him, five stars. So that's 3.5, right? No, our light tan daughter's order was also wrong but like me, she liked it but it made her wonder just how good the meal she wanted would have been. And then they laughed at me because I said my frijoles were too spicy. So we turned to the baby to help us decide and he said "What are you looking at me for? I only have four teeth!?!"

This restaurant serves really really bad food! I am not sure what the other reviewers like about this place. Food = yuck! People commented about how the decor being too much and too bright, well, I wish that was the case for their FOOD. If only their food had as much flair as the decor... Comment on the decor: last time I checked, their decor is completely normal for a Mexican restaurant. My time there was so awful that I was compelled to tell people that the food here is disgusting and not to waste your money here! I was especially disappointed in the person who wrote in their review that the food here was similar to what they experienced while living in Arizona. You fine person are completely incorrect. I totally fell for your poor judgement of the food served here! Mangos has much better Mexican food, even if it's attached gas station!

I ate here a little while ago and have not been back since, for good reason. I had been hearing that this place had the best Mexican food in Fargo. That couldn't be further from the truth. The food is extremely bland and tastes like it comes from a plastic bag. I don't think anything is actually made here, just assembled. Everything was greasy and not very warm. the salad was shredded lettuce, served in cheap plastic bowls, with salad dressing served in little plastic packets on the side. I would choose Taco Bell over this place. But, as a disclaimer, I am from California, so I am used to good Mexican food. If this is what you grew up on, and what you are used to, I can understand that this is what you would like. That makes me sad.

If you like ACTUAL authentic Mexican food then eat here, if you like microwaved dog food then go to parideso. Acapoco is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. 10 stars!
(5)Peter V.
One of our favorite places! Always fast service, awesome food and love being served Mexican food by actual mexicans! Love the fajita burrito with both steak and chicken!
(5)Alejandro M.
Fargo is so geographically far from Mexico that it is no wonder that the food lacks the spiciness and flavor of authentic Mexican food. I think that they have the best Mexican food in Fargo which doesn't say a lot about the state of Mexican food here in town.

If I would have known this was the restaurant next to my hotel, I would have stayed at another hotel. The salsa is terrible and tastes of nothing but onion. I ordered the queso to divert the salsa away from the onion spears that are floating in the salsa. The margarita sour mix was bad making the margarita taste like pure sugar. The beef, chicken & shrimp fajitas are good but small. I filled 2 mini tortillas and all but 1 piece of carne was gone. Plus, all I was given in my napkin was a knife, there is no fork to move food into my tortilla other than my fingers, making me turn my dinner into $15 finger food. If you are looking for an evening out, go to Paradiso across the street.

A friend and I ate here a bit ago after hearing that the food was amazing. The food was anything but amazing. We got side salads with our respective dinners. These came out in cheap plastic bowls and appeared to be packaged mix. Another nail in the coffin was a pouch of Kraft ranch dressing. I laughed nervously and gave a look of utter horrified disbelief. The salad tasted like a bag of mixed greens with half refrigerated dressing. Our dinner arrived shortly after looking like it'd been sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long. I had a cheese enchilada and taco. You can't really screw up a cheese enchilada, but it had no taste to it and was drown in bland red sauce. The taco dripped with a steady stream of grease and the shell was soggy. Refried beans were watery and had no real taste at all, as if they'd not been seasoned at all. Being from Southern California originally, I would absolutely never EVER classify this as 'Mexican' food. It was horrible in every sense of the word. I would highly recommend staying away from this place.

If you're looking for a sit-down Mexican restaurant to chow down at in Fargo, Acapulco is your best best. Granted, there aren't many Mexican food choices in Fargo, but Acapulco is by far the best. Dishes I've really enjoyed have been the Carnitas de Res (Sirloin strips served with green peppers and onions), sizzling fajitas and meat-stuffed burritos. I've never ordered a seafood dish here, so I can't attest to whether or not it's of any quality; I'm usually leery of ordering seafood pretty much anywhere in Fargo. Like any good Mexican place, you get chips and salsa before your meal. The chips are warm and tasty, but the salsa reminds me of pico de gallo, just watery and less flavorful. There are a lot of options on the menu, and lunch here is very reasonably priced. The interior won't amaze you, but the fast service more than makes up for the lack of ambiance.

Not impressed at all. Monotone flavour and same recycled ingredients in all entrees. Does not have the spunk mexican food should have! Definetely had better
(1)Dave S.
Before I started going to Mango's, I came to Acapulco on a regular basis. The Chile Colorado and Carnitas de Res were my favorite dishes. I haven't gone back recently, unfortunately, but I've got fond memories of this place. I'd consider this place to be about the same style and quality as Mangos, but with some different items on the menu. I'd decide which one to go to based on whether I had stronger cravings for the Carnitas de Res from Acapulco or Tacos from the Grill at Mangos. Rice and beans are great as well. I loved the salsa, as well. Next time I come back to Fargo, I'll definitely be making a stop here.

Much better than Mexican village! And less expensive. Not the best Mexican I have ever had, but by far the best in Fargo!

I don't think I could ever leave this restaurant unhappy! Great everytime. Great food great service!!!

I was THRILLED to find Mexican food in North Dakota. we were coming back from returning our moving truck and saw their sign from the freeway, we felt the calling It was good Mexican food, AMAZING Mexican food for North Dakota and I wish I lived closer. Service is fast, friendly, and curtosy. Chips are nice and warm, the salsa could've been less watery but had a good flavor. I had a combo plate and I loved the enchilada. The taco came in a shell that looked like something from Taco Bell. so THAT was disappointing, but the meat was good. Taking the price into consideration it was great, the food could use a little work but for North Dakota I'm happy!

Well first they put me in a corner where no one remembered I was. Then I got their attention and ordered the fiesta fajitas. Greasy, beef was overcooked shrimp were too and small. Margaritas tasted like all mix. It wasn't the worst I have had.

I'm a white boy from the upper midwest, so I don't know what authentic mexican food tastes like. But this place beats Paradiso and Mexican Village by far.
(3)Anthony E.
Mucho mucho bueno. Excellent food, fun, bright, casual atmosphere, service was fast, we'll definitely go again. Salsa was a bit thin so it was difficult to eat it without making a mess but beans were great, carne asada great, queso blanco delicious (and when mixed with salsa made it easier to eat). The bad reviews have to all be from Paradiso staff, or maybe from people who think Taco Bell is true authentic Mexican food.

All I can say is WOW good food this is a hidden gem
(5)Laura E.
Having grown up in AZ, I'm always on the lookout for great Mexican food. For years, I was forced to try places like Paradiso (BARF) and Mexican Village (run by Norwegians). Thank goodness Acapulco came along. Great food, fast service ... did I mention the great food? Go. Eat. Enjoy!
(5)Jimmy P.
Jimmy's Mexican restaurant scale. Warm chips....check Salsa.....watery but good flavor Margaritas.....check but a bit too sweet Food..... I had the chili Verde. Good flavor, not great but very good. Service was attentive and friendly. They sang in Spanish and English for a birthday girl. Neat.

The best, and until recently the only authentic Mexican restaurant in town. Great lunch specials that only cost $5 not including tip. Service is blazing fast. I once timed it and it took a mere two and a half minutes to get our food. Barely enough time cram a basket of chips down my throat. If your on a date, I highly recommend the fajitas for two. Because there is nothing like a sizzling skillet of meat and veggies between two love birds. There is also a large variety of gluten fee options that the staff seem pretty knowledgeable about. Another plus, most of the staff speak English very well. Not a necessity but it is probably a benefit to most customers.

Hot enchiladas Warming hospitality Cold margaritas I pretty much tried this place simply because of the previous yelp reviews... and I must say they are right. While the ambiance isn't as flashy as other Mexican restaurants, the food here is certainly a couple of steps up in authenticity and flavor compared to the 'other' local mexican options. *cough* Paradiso *cough cough* The staff was actually excellent, by my standards. Our server made sure to check back with us to make sure everything was to our liking, but was not too 'pesty'. The kitchen was open to substitutions, and our food arrived HOT (as food SHOULD arrive). The food itself was very tasty, and pleasantly not drenched in grease, unlike many Mexican restaurants I've dined at. I also particularly liked their salsa... it was more 'liquidy' compared to the usual restaurant variety, and more like what I'd expect to be served at a home-cooked Mexican meal. My only negative food recommendation is this: stay away from the chile relleno. It appeared to be simply egg on the outside (not egg batter... just egg) with some canned, diced chiles inside. I'm not sure what happened, but it certainly didn't resemble any chile relleno I'VE ever seen... With that complaint aside, I recommend trying this restaurant out, if you haven't already. ¡Salud!

I guess it is technically food. The 2nd worst "Mexican" restaurant in Fargo. We call it Acapukeo.

The first time I experienced Acapulco was when I was visiting Fargo, looking for a house (since I was moving there)--anyway-- it was next to our hotel. I ran over to order a "to-go" order and I was sucked in from there. The atmosphere was authentic and pleasant. The workers were very nice. The service was fast. The best part of it all-- THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recommend this place. PLus they gave me all the tasty extras-- chips & salsa. FYI: I ordered the burrito covered in queso-- to die for!
(5)Rego S.
I was skeptical about the authenticity of a Mexican restaurant in North Dakota, but I was proven wrong. I had a delicious spicy beef dish with bell peppers- I think it was the chile colorado. The tortilla chips were served warm, another plus.

Amy & I ate here in Fargo after wandering around for a while. It was pretty good, or so she tells me. It has mostly left my memory.
