We stopped here for dinner while passing through on a Saturday night. It was busy, but we were seated right away. It's really, really loud, so much so that I could barely hear my fanily sitting across from me. The service was so-so, our waitress wasn't overly friendly, but kept drinks full and checked in a couple of times. If you have kids they give them a little cup of fish crackers to tide them over until food arrives. The food was good and offered a variety besides just pizza. The kids menu had sides of salad, fruit or veggies besides just the traditional french fries. It was vrry reasonably priced. A definite recommend.

I always have an great experience coming here. We also frequent the one in Bozeman as well. Customer service was outstanding. Drinks were never empty and she catered to us very well considering we had a 9 mo baby. I ordered the veggie pizza and added chicken. It was delish. I don't have to mention the beers. Great craft beers. I'm always looking for Madison river brewing myself. All in all. Love this place. Wish it wasn't an hour and half away.

I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was awful. Way overdone, meat was unchewable. The gravy was tasteless. The corn medley was just plain weird. I am not an old person, but I couldn't chew the kernels. The only thing good about the place was the decor and the wheat beer.

Five words: Get The Mackenzie River Pizza. Sooooo good. I only got pizza but there seems to be a variety of menu choices. There are lots of draft beer selections but none I would go back for. The crust could be higher quality.

This week makes my sixth week in Bismarck since May 11. I've eaten at a lot of restaurants, generally trying to stay away from chains. MacKenzie River Pizza, Co. intrigued me, but I avoided it for a while because it is a chain. That said, they are not in Cincinnati, my hometown or Hayward, CA, my current home. So tonight I gave them a try. I walked in. It was cool and it smelled good. I was asked if I wanted to sit at the bar or in the restaurant. I wanted to sit 'in' the restaurant, so I was surprised when we walked through a door to get to my table. I was no longer in the restaurant. I was outside... kind of. I considered whining. I mean, compared to being 'in' the restaurant I was immediately aware of how "hot" it was. Understand I was still under a roof and 3/4 of the room was enclosed and air conditioned. It wasn't super hot outside so I kept my mouth shut and had a seat. As it turns out it was very comfortable. The waitress was a delight! When I admitted this was my first visit she did a great job of explaining the menu. One of the pluses here is the number of options. She did a fantastic job; I appreciated everything she told me. All of her directions/explanations were useful. I'll jump ahead just a bit. I knew I would have leftovers and she brought me a box, a separate box for the toppings, which were essentially a salad, and a bag. She was very sweet, helpful, always there to refill my water and yet never intrusive. There are other restaurants in town that should take notes. And now the food. I ordered a small Clubhouse pizza. And here is the description - Basil chicken, smoky bacon and mozzarella, baked then topped with fresh avocado, sliced tomatoes and chilled romaine lightly tossed with creamy ranch. Yummy, right? It was pretty much a salad on pizza crust, so the pizza acted as a twist on croutons. That may sound like a negative, but no... it was quite good. The description says "lightly tossed" and I'd say it was just a little heavy on the dressing. It wasn't swimming in ranch dressing, which is good. I think it would have been even better tossed just a bit more lightly. There were four thin slices of avocado, one per piece. I'll admit seeing avocado as an ingredient weighed in on my decision to order the Clubhouse. I think diced avocado spread evenly over the entire pizza would have been better. Finally... and this is a total afterthought, bacon would have been a great addition. Holy Moly!!! I just read the post of my picture of this pizza, which included an edited version of the menu description of the Clubhouse. It HAS bacon. Needless to say, I didn't notice. Please, MacKenzie, may I have some more... bacon? I will say the specialty pizzas seemed unusual to me. The Clubhouse was the only one that really appealed to me, but it was great to know, thanks to my waitress, that I could do 1/2 and 1/2 if I desired. Considering I only ate 1/2 the pizza in the restaurant, splitting the pizza might not have worked for me. That said, if two people want to split a small (or a large), it's nice to know you can choose two different pizza flavors split on one pizza. They have a fantastic draft beer menu, but I did not try any. Still, this seems like a decent plus to me. In California we have California Pizza, which can be amazing. I like MacKenzie River Pizza, Co. I'll be back in Bismarck a few more times. I might just have to come back.

I can't say that I was impressed but I can say that I saw some potential. The good: - iced tea was cold - pizza could have been great - Mud Pie was pretty good The not so good: - Pizza came with red onions rather than the roasted red peppers I ordered - service was SLOW for me but not for the patrons the waitstaff seemed to know I don't care for onions on my pizza. I love roasted red peppers. $2 off my order does not make up for that. It did, however, fit in with the service I received in general. The tables around me seemed to get pretty good service - while my service was pretty slow and, in my opinion, not very friendly. I'm not sure if it was due to the fact that I wasn't ordering alcohol or that I wasn't a regular since the other few tables in the bar area met both requirements. I stopped in about 4:30pm on a Wednesday and they were not very busy at all. So that certainly wasn't an excuse. Actually, I'm still kind of confused why the service was bad. All I do know is that I won't go back - even though I think I would have loved the pizza if it had come with the correct toppings. Oh well....life is WAY too short to put up with poor service. Especially in towns with dozens of other options.

After a 10 hr vacation drive and much yelping research, our family settled on this place for our evening meal. It did not disappoint. Hubby and I enjoyed the regional craft beer selection. We did a traditional pizza selection of 'the rancher.' We all thought the crust was great and pizza topping combos were delectable. We shared the mac lovin dessert--wow! Also a great array of unique pizza option and other sandwich and meal choices. Highly recommend! Our server Mike was awesome!!

I would give it a 3.5 if I could. It's not bad but I would just stick to what I have eaten before. The first time I went I had a pepperoni pizza and it was amazing. I ordered a small pepperoni pizza and it was hot and delicious. The second time around, I ordered a steak dinner. My steak was not juicy and there was no flavor. It was kinda tough as well. My two sides tasted average. I really loved the servers. Very friendly and attentive. The server could cleary see I was not enjoying my steak and asked to have the manager comp my dessert which was awesome of her. Customer service goes a long way with me. I would eat here again.

Excellent pizza! This was our first time here and we tried the Stockman's Pizza - a meat lovers with steak. It was great! The crust was great, too, nice and soft - not too doughy. My husband had a Black Ghost Oatmeal Stout and really enjoyed it. The décor is fun. I love the photographs on the walls and the bear outside. The only negative I have is that it was hard to get drink refills. I just happened to be really thirsty so that's probably why it stuck out but I was without something to drink for quite a while before she came back and it was pretty quiet in there (after 9pm on a Monday night).

I have to admit, this place wasn't my first choice, however I stopped because it was close to my hotel and I was not disappointed! I had the meatloaf and it was amazing!! The atmosphere in the bar area was perfect. Good music but it wasn't too loud. The service was great and the beer was even better! Great job MacKenzie River! Next time in town, I'll stop again!

I love this place. The decor, the staff, the food. Pizza is fantastic, great menu besides pizza, too. The Mack Lovin' dessert is great to share with a friend. I go here several times a month and just really enjoy the heck out of the place.

Very nice ambiance, very good food. I started with a bowl of the Buffalo chowder- it was amazing. Then I had the Athenian pizza. My daughter had pizza with gluten free crust and I actually liked her crust better than mine.

Great service and the menu is far from ordinary. We ordered 4 different types of pizza and loved the Rancher, the spicy hawaiian bbq, and the alfredo one. The one with pears, prosciutto, and balsamic vinaigrette left a lot to be desired - wonderful concept, but absolutely drowned in the vinaigrette making it impossible to taste the other wonderful flavors. We will be back for more of the other pizzas though!!!!

Can I give this.place zero stars? Went there last night and a member of our dinner party had her order messed up twice. First the waitress came out with our food but accidentally gave one of our pizzas to another table. then when it finally came out it was the wrong pizza. 2 hours until the pizza came.

The food was pretty good. No complaints there. The atmosphere and decor is nice, too. I don't know that my family and I would readily return, though. Our server was Levi, and he was atrocious. I waited tables through college, and I know it's disappointing when you think you're about to leave and you get sat a table. However, this was at 6 pm that we arrived, so I don't even know if that was the case. He treated us like we were a nuisance the entire time. He never spoke to us except when he was taking our orders, and he almost never checked on us. It was my son's and my birthday dinner, and he never said anything beyond "What do you want for dinner?". He was not only inattentive, he came across as arrogant as well. Typically, when a waiter comes to bring you your check, they ask if you want anything else, and then produce it. Then, when they pick it up, they say "Is this all set?". What they don't do is what Levi did, which was to put the check on the table before asking us if we wanted dessert, which we might have wanted as it was a birthday dinner. He made it clear we weren't wanted at all. Then, when he got the check, he never broke stride and snatched it off the table. When he returned, he dropped it on the table and kept going. I don't know what his problem was that night, but even the manager noticed, it seemed. I guess the servers there box your food, but Levi just dropped out boxes on the table and continued on. She told us she was sorry, but never specifically mentioned him. In the end, I understand that people have bad days. I also understand that Levi may not generally reflect on the restaurant. However, if your job is in a service oriented business, you better have the personality to make people feel welcome. And if you're the manager of an employee who is clearly unable to handle himself in a professional manner, you should look long and hard at what is needed to mold him into a better employee before he costs you business, which he probably has in our case.

Fantastic pizza! I was in town staying at a nearby hotel and came here because of convenience. I was very pleased with the beer selection and the pizza. Their crust is tasty and had rosemary in it. Yummm! We tried the BBQ pizza with pork and chicken, and the Philadelphia cheese steak pizza. They were both delicious with good quality tasting meat. Would definitely come here again. Oh and the goat cheese queso, if you like goat cheese of course, is amazing!!

I really loved the food and the awesome variety of microbrews on tap. The pizza is amazing (the original crust is a carb lover's dream)! The rustic atmosphere is great, but our service was horrible! I understand that Sunday evening at a bar/restaurant isn't the most exciting or lucrative serving shift, but a little more effort would have been nice. We sat in the bar area, and waited at least ten minutes for our waitress to even greet us. She brought our drinks right away, but another fifteen minutes went by before she came back to take our orders. The place wasn't that busy! Our appetizer came out with our food (super disappointing), and after apologizing for that, we didn't see our waitress again until she brought the bill. Our empty beer and water glasses sat at the edge of the table while the bartender and another waitress watched the Pro Bowl from behind the bar (the waitress literally announced, "I'm watching football," to another employee). I finally went up to the bar and got us more drinks. Not impressed. Had the service been better, this place would have easily gotten five stars in my book!

Was in Bismarck on business and my hotel was right next door so I stopped in for early dinner. Was very hungry and ordered appetizer they call Lodgepoles, turned out to be cheesy breadsticks like a half a small pizza with lots of gooey melted mozzarella on top cut into thin strips! Very tasty indeed, ordered the Shepherd's Pie entrée, but luckily I was pretty much satisfied before the pie because it was not what I was expecting at all. A shallow ceramic bowl with mashed potatoes and peas and carrots diced with some hamburger mixed and covered with cheddar cheese and baked. The grease was standing on top of cheese and the inside was tasteless. But I'd come back for the Lodge Poles anyway, my server was good too!

Great pizza. Nice to see this favorite stop in Bozeman, MT has now come further east. We picked up a pizza at this restaurant one night as we stopped for the night (pleasantly surprised to find this in town!). When I stopped in there was some temporary confusion as they misplaced the order. But within minutes, they found the order and I had my hot pizza - they gave me the pizza for free. Very classy - and super nice. After a long day on the road, that was a very nice surprise!

REALLY good! I had the pulled pork nachos (outstanding!) and the hubs had a pizza. We shared the chocolate chip cookie skillet (The Mac Lovin) for dessert. AH-MAZING!!! Good service and decent prices. Only about a 15 min wait on a Saturday night. My only complaint was that it was HOT inside. I wish they had run the AC a little cooler. :)

This restaurant recently opened in north Bismarck, right next to the north Walmart. My fiance and I went for an early dinner on Tuesday and it was fairly packed for that time of day/week. As we left, around 6pm, there was a long line waiting for seats. There seemed to be a few holiday parties taking place but there's no separate room (that I saw) for private parties. The place has booths and tables and a separate bar seating area. From where we were sitting, we could see the dough throwing in the kitchen, sort of a neat touch. The service was great, which is unusual for a new restaurant, although I heard the couple seated behind us being apologized to for the wait, and the couple in front of us had their meal comped, but I'm not sure on what grounds. We each ordered a pizza, to share and have leftovers, and an appetizer. The appetizer was okay - I mean, cheese bread is cheese bread. The pizzas were good, though my Thai Peanut Chicken pizza could have used a bit more of the Thai peanut sauce. The flavor was realllly subtle. There were a lot of options on the menu that appealed to me, so I'm sure I'll be back to try something else.

Was lured in to this place because of the beer selection, which was great. Great rustic decor and the promise of goumet pizza had my expectations high for a 'chain restaurant'. We ordered two pizzas and a sandwich. We got two skimpy pizzas and a bad sandwich. The pizzas were around $18 each but not worth it. Our pie did have a few pieces of pepperoni but for that price, anywhere else would have loaded it up. The Wrangler sandwich, well that was some mighty tough marinated steak there partner! The Walrus does this much better.

went last night. Ordered Buffalo chicken Mac-n-cheese...was a hot mess, but taste was okay. My fiance ordered a burger, really good. Lot's of options on menu, so I guess you need to know what to order. Beers are good and decent price. will go again for sure.

My family and I ventured here for my dad's birthday. We luckily got seating in the bar pretty quickly but there definitely was a wait for the actually resturant section. I was surprised how busy it was there for it being middle of the week. They had a few veggie options for me and my husband. I had a wrap and it was pretty good. The vegetable could hae been chopping a little smaller though. My husband had a veggie pizza and he really enjoyed that. We didn't get much attention from the waitress but she was extremely busy so it's understandable.

So yummy! Now mix that with great service and a great variety and you have a great meal ahead of you. They have a bar area to sit in while waiting for a table. You can watch various games from the bar area while enjoying some delicious appetizers, my favorite are by far the nachos. Though the spinach dip is pretty fantastic too. Keep in mind you're going to be waiting for awhile, people like to sit back and relax while they enjoy their food here. The main seating area has both tables and booths, go for the booth, it's much more comfortable since most of the booths are elevated. Parking is ample but watch out when you go right after it snows, they're not really good about shoveling it before it turns to ice and you fall on your butt on the way in. and try not to laugh so hard at the scream someone makes when they fall, even if it's your 300lb husband, apparently they don't like being laughed at... my bad.

My wife and I decided to give this place a try since we were in town for a while. The outside was nice and the decorations on the inside was done very well. It's not as crazy and overwhelming as Applebee's decor, just a pleasant ambiance. We arrived around 1:30p so there were maybe a couple others in the restaurant. Our waitress, Autumn, was very nice and took care of us in a timely manner. They had a tall beer on special for $3 so that was a nice surprise. I had the Buffalo Mac & Cheese and my wife had the Greek Salad with Chicken. I loved mine because it was a lunch portion and included a breadstick, and it filled me up, and my wife's salad was delicious, especially with the awesome dressing. The menu seemed pretty different from other places so hopefully it stays around. We'd definitely go back, I recommend it to anyone wanting to try something new. Thus, for 2 beers and 2 entrees, we spent around $36 with tip, pretty good deal for pretty good food.

Honestly, this is the best pizza I have ever eaten hands down! The staff is very friendly. In the bar I counted 17 different beers on tap. I will definitely be coming back to try all the different beers and great food.
