Huge to go order. Everything was tasty and my steak was perfect. Service was good as well.

Unless you're extremely hungry and nowhere else to go this place would be my last resort. waiter was not attentive, had to be reminded about our drinks more than once. my steak came out grey like it had been sitting under the warmer already. Maybe it was just an off night, might give it another try not anytime soon though. overall restaurant needs a major makeover, feels like you're in a time warp.

I stopped here on my way to the airport for a good meal before a 5 hour flight. I should have eaten on the plane. The steak was a decent size, but it was bland. It tasted like nothing. A good steak doesn't really need much. This was not a good steak. I also ordered it medium rare. It came out almost entirely grey. It had sear marks but was odd looking. I was in a rush so I ate it anyway. I will not be returning.

Apparently I have to leave a star to write anything otherwise they would not have received one. My experience started with being lied to about whether they make their own Bloody Mary mix; they don't. Surf and turf, a $19 entree, was served with a packet of Kraft tarter sauce. That really sums up the experience. Our Waitress was completely disengaged and dropped the check before we were done eating. Apparently we looked like we were in a hurry which might have been her only astute observation. Please Bismarck open a decent steak house, you'd have no competition.

We used to come here years ago and it was awesome! Decided to check it out again and it's definitely gone downhill! Bland inedible food and not so great service... Hate to go for the chains but I think I'll go back to the roadhouse!!

Great prime rib definitely will recommend and return. We arrived at a time we thought the rush would be over, but we had to wait. The host wasn't present, but you could tell she was working not just a disappearing act. A lot of locals must eat here as the host and wait staff greeted many people around us personally. I felt like we were locals here and treated very well. Our waitress was a bit flustered with the volume of people that night but she handled our table very well. Salad was still chilled, food was still hot when delivered so A+ for that. I would love to see server appearance be improved. Wild hair untamed hair and t-shirts shouldn't be ok a little improvement in that area would make my experience complete. But if appearance is all I have to complain about this must be a great place. $27 including tip for prime rib dinner with salad and a tip is a great price! Bottom line, good service good food friendly staff.

We came here as part of a large group (30+ people) for a conference. We had a great time and the food was good. Considering how many people we had, the food was hot and prepared well.

I honestly feel badly for Jack's Steakhouse. I think North Dakotans would rather patronize major chains than support local businesses. Every weekend night that my dad insists we go to Texas Roadhouse, it's always packed and there's always a wait. At Jack's? Not so much. I dined here with a friend on a week night. We both ordered a soda and a burger. The burger was fantastic. The fries were good and the service was rather fast. However, I was kind of sticker-shocked at the prices. Our tab was $28 for two people. That's without tip. Kinda spendy for a local joint. I would revisit Jack's if I was in the mood for a good burger but it wouldn't be my first pick of a restaurant in Bismarck. Jack's would do well to maybe redecorate and do some local outreach to make them visible again.

Very disappointing. We went to Jack's to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. I was told this was an upscale place. They dropped off pitchers of water on the table and left. The salads were literally iceberg lettuce with a few croutons and a big blob of dressing. There was so much dressing most of us didn't finish. Two in the group had to send the steaks back. My filet was flat and tasteless. I had a side of broccoli that looked like it was cooked that morning and reheated. The waitresses kept reaching over our plates, too. Total disaster that cost me over $200 for nine of us (including one child who ate off the kids menu). My advice....don't bother. McDonalds would have been better. Whoever is posting the 5 stars for this place must be the owners or staff!

I ate at Jack's last night before heading to the airport and away from Bismarck for the year. It's been over 10 years since I've visited this place, but they haven't lost their touch. The interior has plenty of seating and we were seated promptly (*). I don't quite get the dark mauve ceiling and wall color, but the muted colors and tall walls between tables gave the place an intimate feel and reduced the noise from other tables (*). The menu offers a variety of steaks, fish (including something called torsk that my sister says is delicious), salads, pasta, and burgers. I had a hard time picking from the menu, but I went with the sirloin. Before the meal, our waitress -- who was very attentive and friendly (*) -- brought a basket of rolls and two kinds of butter. What is it with flavored butters in Bismarck? This one was strawberry (*). She also gave us napkins for the rolls, since we didn't yet have plates on the table (*). The rolls were light and peeled apart into melt-in-your-mouth layers (*). The free-with-entree salad was a mixture of romaine (*) and a green iceberg, along with croutons and some carrots (*). The blue cheese dressing was thick, tangy (*), and had lots of chunks of cheese (*). I'd recommend it. The sirloin I ordered was thick (*) and perfectly cooked (medium rare). It was well seasoned (*) and sizzling hot (*) when it arrived at the table. On the side I had a sweet potato, which was also perfectly cooked (*) and came with a side of cinnamon butter -- butter flavor #3 for the evening. Overall, Jack's was a great experience, and I'll come again when I want a steak in Bismarck. * Thirteen ways that Jack's was a better experience than Montana Mike's.

This was a major disappointment, considering the other reviews of this place. First of all, a steak should never be delivered to your table five minutes after you order it -- either they're just microwaving pre-seared cuts of beef, or they've got a bunch of every cut going at all times. A properly cooked steak should rest for at least 5 minutes after cooking, and every steak should be cooked to order. My wife ordered a medium well steak -- hers was under medium. I ordered a medium steak, and mine was "blue" (the temperature that's one full step below rare). I've never sent a steak back for being too undercooked, so it was a first for me. The waitress was very nice, and the fried appetizers we had were OK, but if you're going to call yourself a steakhouse, you should at least know the proper temperatures. When my steak return (another five minutes later -- again, too fast), it was under medium rare, but I'm OK with underdone beef, so I ate it. It was a good cut of beef (though, curiously, my wife and I both ordered 9-ounce sirloins and mine was a good 1/2-inch thicker than hers), but hadn't had a touch of seasoning, so it was super bland.

Jack's Steakhouse never dissapointed me. They were consistent with their food and with their service. The place is very nice and well furnished. The staffs were so friendly and helpful in every way. Their salads are very fresh as always. And the steaks were the best! The sauce is so good! Just making this review made me want some of their steaks. I will be definitely coming back where my heart belongs.
