Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I always go for the $1.99 mug of the day- can't beat that :) Their deals on apps are really great, too. Love their staff and management!

Pro(s): Good beer and other drinks. Cons: Everything else Most overrated restaurant in Wilmington by far. Eaten here many times with the same outcome. Mediocrity.

Brought my family here while they were visiting from out of town and everyone really enjoyed their meals. From the mug of bacon, to the onion rings, to the pretzel crusted salmon, to the German chocolate cake, and even the marinated tomatoes and cucumbers it was wonderful! While they don't take reservations, the brewery was quick to help us get a table for our large party with minimum wait. Only negative is the loud background noise, but that is to be expected in a brewery.

I've wanted to check this place out since I was here last time in Wilmington. This time, with my parents joining me and my appetizer-restaurant hopping, I succeeded. Walking downtown looking for a place to eat, we walked by this place and looked at the window menu to see what was cookin'. Immediately the apps caught my attention. So what exactly caught my eye? The Front Street Hot Legs with Scottish Ale "Brew-B-Q" sauce, a mug of bacon, and chicken tenders. I know, the chicken tenders? Yeah, a little boring but still I needed my meat especially since we were going to be drinking. Well, the drinking didn't come in until after we sat down and looked at their beer menu. Plus, it's a brewery so how could we not? The place was pretty busy due to it being 4th of July. Luckily, we came pretty early so it wasn't completely crazy busy. We were told a 15-20 minute wait and was told that they would text us when we got a table. So we walked up the block, checked out a store, and by that time my phone was going off. After we were seated, I ordered their Raspberry Riptide and two Port City IPAs. Both came out pretty amazing, no complaints there. When I came back from the bathroom, I told myself that I was dumb when I saw other tables have flights. I went back, sat down at my table, and ordered two flights for myself and my parents. Finally when our food arrived, one thing that is noted is that the Scottish Ale Brew-B-Q sauce was pretty awesome on the drum sticks. The mug of bacon also was definitely plenty and followed the description of a "generous" portion. All in all, it was good! I think I'll definitely be back to try their other beers and for other food options if I'm ever in town and walking around downtown. Recommended to come if you're a brewery lover and want to check out the beer scene in Wilmington.

The food is awesome and as diverse as the drinks. I suggest you start with the chips and salsa (spicy warning). The sandwiches are robust and flavorful. Look around the table for obvious advertised drink deals and promo codes. The first floor bar section is large and fully stock with a large variety of drafts including their own hand crafted award winning brew.. The overall atmosphere is festive, lively and friendly. Come on down.

Went here with some friends for beers and lunch. Was mostly empty for lunch though gets quite crowded at night I hope. Lots of wooden decor, large open spaces, huge bar seating area but only 7-8 beers on tap. They had tasting flights, which I would recommend since some of their beers are quite poor to average. Food is large plate, heavier, and a bit of a corporate feel like an upgraded Chili's. Fun place to go to in Wilmington, but doesn't have any good guest taps from nearby breweries like Duck-Rabbit, which was a disappointment.

They close at midnight!! Why?? Otherwise not a bad place to meet for drinks.

Best food, best beer, and best staff in Wilmington. FSB is by far my favorite bar. I only wish I could get here more often.

Eh, it is what it is. It's good but nothing special. Great beer selection though and the staff has always been very friendly. Reasonably priced and the atmosphere is cool.

For beer and and food Front Street deserves four stars, however for professionalism and sanitation they deserve two. If you're looking for a wide variety of beer for everyone, great prices and solid bar food, I'd definitely recommend Front Street Brewery. They're conveniently located directly downtown in Wilmington and offer the cheapest beer prices I've seen in a long time. They always offer a "mug of the day" for $1.99/10 oz. plus daily drink specials and both beer and whiskey flights (they claim to have the LARGEST whiskey collection in North Carolina). In addition to having great prices, I think Front Street is also serving up the best beer in Wilmington presently. This could change quickly, as three new breweries just opened within a six mile radius! Not only are their beers delicious, but they also pair nicely with a full menu. We usually grab an appetizer to share and especially enjoy the buffalo tenders with blue cheese. They sell their buffalo sauce too, $8.99/22oz bottle; we liked it so much we brought some home! Just be warned that not ALL the appetizers are included in happy hour special occurring daily 4-6pm and after 10pm. While the beers are cheap and tasty and the foods definitely hits the spot after an active day touring Wilmington, I can't overlook some factors. First, the professionalism of the staff seems to be lacking. We always sit at the bar on our visits, and can't help notice the "staff" spot directly behind and completely open to the public. Waiters and waitresses (hopefully) off shift eat at a tiny barrel table (still in restaurant attire) with laptops out chilling. I know this type of activity goes on in every restaurant, but they should move it to the kitchen or at least behind closed doors. In addition, sanitation behind the bar is obviously lacking. Bartenders that handle food were chewing gum, applying chapstick, finger brushing hair and interacting with customers money while never washing hands. Ew! And finally, after two visits to Front Street, both during the advertised "brewery tour" time from 3-5pm, we have still yet to tour the brewery! On the first visit the tour wasn't taking place that day, and during the second visit, arriving minutes after 4:30pm, we had missed the final tour. Do take note that tours are NOT offered anytime between 3-5pm daily like advertised, but rather are currently offered at 3pm, 3:45pm and 4:30pm (according to the hostess). But even with these annoying and sometimes off-putting moments, Front Street still has a lot going for them and is a staple of Wilmington. If you're looking to hit us one brewery in the area, this is the one I'd recommend.

Front Street Brewery has the best beers I've tasted, seriously it's that good. The food is also very good, I've never had a bad meal. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the service is very spotty, and depending on when you are there your family might be sat next to a group of cursing frat boys. They also give brewery tours in the afternoon, which are informative, and fun for the kids.

I found this place on yelp and knew I had to check it out while visiting Wilmington. We arrived around 1pm and were seated upstairs. I got a well drink and my boyfriend tried the flagship flight. He enjoyed all of the beers. Our server was great and super friendly! We ordered onion rings, the stuffed bison burger and pulled pork sandwich. The onion rings come in a huge portion and are amazing! Like, one of the best I've ever had! I didn't enjoy my pulled pork too much but the boyfriend says its just the style - it wasn't bad just not my taste. The bison burger was a hit. The fries were amazing. The staff was super friendly, overall I would definitely say check it out if you are in the area. I have a feeling we will be back before we leave town!

Front Street Brewery definitely gets my vote for best restaurant in the area. I love the atmosphere, the selection of beer/cocktails/liquor/wine, the mind-blowing food, and the courteous and speedy service. I come here every time I'm in downtown Wilmington. We are always seated immediately, and taken to one of their many tables (located up or downstairs). They also have a private room available for parties on the third floor. There is an energy to this place like no where else; it's always hustle and bustle, but you feel as though you could stay and hang out for hours. The beer selection is awesome, and affordable. They have an excellent selection of beers that stay year round, and then 4-5 that rotate per season. The Spring Brew is my personal favorite for the rotating beers. I've also been in the fall, when they have pumpkin ale, and boy is it delightful and rich! Their food is unbeatable for the price. Their lunch menu is great, and guess what? There isn't anything over $6.99!! Their standard menu ranges from $6.99 to $14.99, but their portion size is no joke! The best appetizer on the menu is the Pulled Chicken Nachos. They are life-alteringly good! This brewery is my all time favorite and makes me wish I lived in Wilmington.

We met a friend here for lunch on Labor Day Sunday afternoon. The place was full, but we were able the get seats at the bar. Great raspberry wheat beer. We had a mushroom quesadilla which was great. Really nice bar tender girls served it up. Nice atmosphere. The most complete liquor bar I ever seen, just massive.

We stopped by to have a beer....we ended up having 2 beer flights, 6 whiskey flights, and 3 regular cocktails for 3 people. We love the atmosphere and enjoyed the spirits. Our waitress was awesome, she gave us drink suggestions and sight seeing suggestions. We did not order any food but the drinks are so worth the stop. The waitress even made sure we were not driving. If I lived in the area I would definitely be a regular!

Service and brews were excellent. Did the Kolsch and the Scottish ale. Cheese fries were a nice filler before heading out for dinner although many people were eating dinner there on a slow night in other places on the street.

I came here on my trip to Wilmington with my girlfriend for a early dinner. The place is really nice inside and has a nice ambiance. The beers were my favorite part of our meal. My girlfriend had the chocolate stout and she really enjoyed it. I had the Irish/Scottish IPA, the Hoppelganger (9.3% alcohol, great beer too) and we ended up buying a 64oz. jug of the chocolate stout to take back home to New York with us. As far as the food went we had the fried pickles and a baked pretzel to start. These both were tasty and the sauces the pickles came with were outstanding. My girlfriend decided to order a tuna steak and I chose the BBQ Brisket with sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli. The brisket was okay and I enjoyed it although I was hoping for a bigger portion. The mashed potatoes were good and the broccoli lacked any real seasoning. My girlfriend didn't like her tuna steak at all. We told the waitress and she immediately offered her something else so she settled for a salad. I tried the tuna and it wasn't very good either but the service was great and they took the tuna off the menu like a restaurant should. Overall we were really happy with the service and the beers. The appetizers were great but the dinner was not too impressive. Definitely would come back again.

Considering we stopped in mid-afternoon on 4th of July weekend, the wait wasn't bad at all. What bummed me out was that they cancelled the tours due to the holiday, though I was told I wasn't missing much. We opted to sit outside as those seats, like the bar, were first come first served. Aside from stares from those waiting for a table, it was a pleasant experience with good, attentive service. We enjoyed all the beers we tried - cream ale, oatmeal stout, raspberry wheat & scottish ale. We didn't try much in the way of food, but enjoyed the soft pretzel with mustard and the brew-b-q burger. I will definitely return.

Very satisfying for our family of 10 people. We had lunch, with four kids, and everyone enjoyed the food. The kids' hot dog with pasta salad on the side is excellent. The Crawfish po' boy was also excellent, and we liked the shepherd's pie. The service is very friendly. We had four of the beers, and they are also excellent.

Fun, loud, lively atmosphere. 30 minute wait at 9PM on a Friday night... passed the time at the bar. I had the Rasberry Wheat Ale and it was perfect for a humid summer night. We started with Pulled Chicken Nachos and they were seriously delicious. For entrees we had the Brisket Sandwich and the Chef's Special which was Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf and came with 2 sides. The meatloaf was OK, the Brisket was outstanding. It was WAY too much food for 2 people. Overall, beer was good, food was yummy, and service was great.

I love finding gems like this when I travel. Finding them isn't by accident - I actually SEARCH for places like this! And I'm so glad we found this one! It is a gem. First off, I was "thirsty" when we got there - a dangerous but common occurrence. The selection of brews was impressive including some of their seasonals which I was able to experience with limited sampling before choosing the Port City IPA. I'm gonna be honest, I'm pretty much always gonna choose the IPA. And this one was very good! It's why I didn't stray to the other beers! We ordered the cajun grouper nuggets as an appetizer along with chips and their homemade salsa. Let me just say this, if you can find better nuggets of any type anywhere else, message me and tell me where. These were spectacular! Truly fresh grouper, nuggetized to perfection served with Tabasco aoli? Right up my alley! AWESOME! And their salsa was clearly home made and delightfully full of heat and spice - just as I like it. I didn't need anything more - grouper, chips and salsa, and a few IPA's in a great environment, friendly and prompt service, and all reasonably priced. A great place!!! I'm a fan!

The fire roasted pepper hummus is very delicious. There was no waiting. This place is pretty busy right now. The staff here seems nice. The Carolina Shrimp Wrap is pretty good, actually. The pasta salad is good.

I am not a beer drinker, so this is not a review on the beer. Sorry folks. That being said, I have been here for dinner and lunch and always leave satisfied. The place is pretty much always busy; however, the service is always great. Front Street Brewery goes beyond your typical bar food and actually offers pretty healthy options. It's a great place to go to watch a game or meet with friends. My menu favorites are the pulled chicken nachos and the grilled chicken with Brew-BQ sauce. I know what thinking, grilled chicken, not very adventurous. I like it here because unlike so many restaurants the chicken is not dry, but actually really juicy and full of flavor. Their sides are fine, I would go with a standard like chips or fries. This place is a great, affordable place to start or end your night downtown. This food is consistent and so is the service.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!! VERY good burgers and beef brisket. Loved their "brewed out back" beers. Service was AWESOME, and they allow dogs for outside dining.

Fantastic! The food was great and the beer was just as great....came here as a tourist from Charlotte NC and they caught my attention... Will come back here on my next visit. Great place to check out if your on vacation in wilmington... Right by the Riverwalk and the Cotton Exchange

Cool atmosphere, delicious brews and superior service. Guess I could stop right there! We do love a good brew pub! This place was bumping on a Friday night and the bartenders not only kept up with the frenetic pace, they still managed to inject some personality & fun into the experience. That's so not easy to do. I loved their Port City IPA enough to order a second (although I tasted a couple of others, just to be sure). At $3.50 a draft, it's a great place to hang out and keep sampling! We'd had a big rather late lunch, so we just ordered a couple of appetizers and were happily surprised by the grouper nuggets - they were super fresh and yummy with a spicy aoli. We also got their chips and salsa. I dunked more than a few of the groupers into their spicy fresh salsa. Our bartender provided a super easy refill on the salsa, too. Happy experience and I'd definitely go back!

Inside much larger than it looks from the street. Great location. Loud place. Fast service. Knowledgable servers. Tried the pulled chicken nachos on server recommendation. Quite nice. Chicken and jalapeños were sweet. Indulgent. Bison Burger tasted bland. French fries seasoned nicely. Would certainly return.

Had lunch here while we were visiting this past weekend. I love the atmosphere and the location. Their menu had various options to choose from. I had their famous Pulled Chicken nachos. They were filling, the flavor was a bit bland... The salsa you dip your chips into was what made the nachos taste the best! Make sure you grab a big cup! Over all I would recommend the Front Street Brewery to friend and family. :)

This place was packed when we got there but after 15 minutes we were seated. They have a huge selection of beers but also have a full liquor bar. We had the Elvis appetizer and OMG, you must try it. I would order that every time. I also had the brisket with green beans and sweet potatoe fries. It was very filling. My girlfriend had the double grilled cheese burger. This thing was gigantic! She could only it a fourth of it. LOL The staff was cheerful and helpful. There's lots of souvenirs to buy as well. They have upstair seating. This place was super cool.

Food is ok. Had the Cuban sandwich and it was a little soggy. I also need to remember that in NC, people use chopped pork instead of whole pieces on the Cubans. Not a fan

My family and I went on a Saturday at about 3pm. The service was great. I ordered the Cuban with sweet potato fries. It was really good. My husband ordered the brisket with homemade chips and the marinaded cucumber tomatos. He really loved it all. He also ordered the local beer and he said it was great. My kids ordered off the kids menu and finished their plates. I was really pleased with this establishment.

  • Jon O.

Stopped in for lunch and a beer sampler. The beers they have here are all what I would call upper mid level quality but not the best craft beer I've had. Their IPA's are hoppy tasty but at the same time not completely blasted with higher than average alcohol %. For lunch we had some of their onion rings, shredded chicken nachos and I had the brew-bq burger. The burger was ok and so were the (thinly sliced) onion rings but the chicken nachos were the superstar of the meal. I'd recommend those above all else. The restaurant part of this operation does seem a little on smaller side as far as seating goes so if you go there on a busy day expect a wait. Our server was friendly and helpful.

  • Katherine M.

Front street brewery is a popular spot and definitely draws a crowd in, but in each instance I've been there, that's not necessarily a good thing. Tables are too crammed for my liking and the poor servers look as if they're being worked to the bone. The food has been good every time as well as the drafts they serve, the atmosphere just does not cut it for me personally.

    (3)
  • SARA M.

Been here many times before; this time was odd. The food was delicious, but the service was strange. They didn't seem friendly or happy to make whatever drink you asked for. I'll still be back for the food, but I hope the service attitude changes.

This review is just for drinks and one appetizer. I know it's a Brewery, but what drew us in primarily was the whiskey flight selection. Husband was drawn to that like a fly to honey. The question was WHICH flight and how soon could we get in? Recent Saturday afternoon and the wait was 35 minutes to get in (and this is off-season!). Cool though that they will get your cell phone number and call you when your wait is up, so you can happily wander around in the meantime. Sure enough, at about 30 minutes we were called and were taken upstairs to be seated. Husband narrowed down his choice to the Triple B's whiskey flight which was Buffalo Trace, Blanton's and Bernheim's. This made him VERY happy. And you know what they say, if Husband is happy, everyone's happy...hah! Anyway, I went with the Sinful Stout because it sounded great and I love stouts, and score it was the mug of the day, so it was just $1.99. Honestly, this wasn't my favorite stout, though. It was not as rich as they usually are, and slightly bitter. Bitterly wimpy compared to others I have had. For something to nibble on, we decided to share the Pub Fries with Queso and Scallions. This was good. Really rich (I know, I know, what should one expect when ordering something described as such???). We just needed a couple more folks to help us with it! Meanwhile, did I say Husband was REALLY happy with his Triple B? Nothing else mattered. 4-stars are primarily for Husband's happiness. :)

I've been twice now...it's NOT terrible, but I gave it three stars for a reason. The first time we went we had literally just moved into our place and none of us had eaten all day, so we devoured what we ordered. I had the Cuban and it was great, and the fries were excellent. I appreciate the beer special on Tuesdays as well. But last night we went and we just didn't enjoy ourselves. I noticed how quickly the food came out which makes me think that it could be microwaved or something. Boyfriend said his shepherds pie smelled like cat food. I got the mile high sandwich and it was good but so hard to eat and messy and the onions were cut so thick I ha to remove them. We sat outside but the sidewalk is so thin and so many people were walking by I felt caged in, almost panicky. I don't think I'll be back, at least not for the food. Maybe for a drink.

Great Service, great beer and food above average for a brew pub. We ate at the bar. Bartenders were professional and prompt. Beers were fresh and delicious. Try the flight to sample the full range of beer styles Front Street has to offer.

This is the second time I have dined here and once again it didn't disappoint. Started out with a couple of beers and beer nuggets, which are a great change from mozzarella sticks. For my meal I had the beef brisket which to me didn't seem like brisket but more like pot roast. I did enjoy it though it was tender and moist. My wife had the chicken strips which were fresh and she said they were great. My daughter ordered the fried shrimp meal which I tried a few and they were very fresh tasting not frozen and bland like most places. Our server Lauren was very attentive to our table and kept our drinks full at all times. She made some suggestions on things to try and tried to up sell some beer to take home. I would have at the great price but I was here for a couple of nights and afraid it would go bad in my car. If your looking for a non chain restaurant this is the place. Unbelievable selection of beers to try and they have an brewery there you can tour but we were to late for that. Great service and food for reasonable prices is a nice change.

Love it here! I've been here a few times and have liked everything I ordered. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the service is always hit or miss. Also, the last time I went here, the fried pickles weren't cooked enough and I was so disappointed. They were great the first time I went, so I am hoping it was just an off day!

My friend & I were visiting the Wilmington area this week and were drawn in by the promise of good beer during our trip to the Riverwalk. It was 7pm on a Tuesday and they were hopping...a 25 min wait for two people! So we decided to go elsewhere, but after 15 minutes of walking around we couldn't get this place out of our heads. When we went back they had seats ready and waiting for us. The service was excellent and the ambiance was juuust right, but the highlight of our night was the meal. The flight of 5 beers for $5.99 is a steal! We loved the crisp and summery Coastal Kolsh, the "smooth, malty, and semi-sweet" Dream Tree Scottish Ale, and the black double IPA Hoppelganger (ok, only I liked that one!) And then the food. Everything looked so good that we decided to split our meals, and I'm so glad we did. The Brisket Sandwich was so melty, cheesy, and tender I hardly had words to explain my happiness. It was fairly heavy though, so I'm glad I only had half the sandwich. We also split the lighter and perfectly cooked Mango Mahi (although it could have used a bit more mango salsa!). The seasoned fries were also on point, and my friend said her potato salad was some of the best she'd ever had. I'm sad I don't live closer, but next time I'm in the area I will DEFINITELY be coming back!

Reasonable prices, decent food/service. This is a bar atmosphere, however all the staff made us feel very welcomed! Took less than a minute to seat us on a Saturday! (Granted we saw friends and took their table, so we cheated the system really) but the server, Casey, was great and didn't make us move! Food came out pretty fast and delicious! And they were busy, but it didn't seem like they were overran or flustered! Very impressed! This is a perfect place for friends, social gatherings and simply to hang out. Let's be honest people it's a brewery, children won't mix well here. Go to Applebee's!

Front Street Brewery is pretty awesome from its classic 2-story classic pub ambiance to the food & home brews. We sat at the bar (the place was pretty full for a Wednesday evening), which was busy, however this fact did not diminish the excellent service & attention we received from our fantastic bartender, Jess. We like darker, heartier European beers & after a couple of samples, my husband & I both ended up with Dram Tree Scottish Ales = excellent! Admittedly, I'm a fried-pickles addict. Front Street's thick cut fried pickles rock. The house-made ranch & spicy whatever dip was quite yummy too. I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I had the BBQ chicken Cobb salad while the hubs had the famous chicken nachos. Both were great. The salad was huge and incredibly filling; there was no skimping on the good stuff. Great overall experience! Front Street will be on the list on the next trip to Wilmington...

Great place to go with a group (noticed many families here, as well as groups of twentysomethings); wide range of food options to pick from, decent house beers, good TV placement throughout if you're trying to watch a game. The cheese fries with queso and chili are a delicious opener; they do not skimp on the toppings. The fish and chips has the most tender, flaky, beautifully battered cod fillets; I was quite pleased, and I noticed a lot of other people ordering this. My friend ordered the other thing I noticed a lot of others getting: the ultimate grilled cheese. Before asking what makes it the "ultimate," ask yourself: would you like a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches? I feel like the portions here are huge, and yet we were fine to keep walking around downtown after our meal.

We ate here after a friend recommended it while visiting downtown Wilmington. We were not impressed by the food whatsoever. I had the fried green tomato blt and it was mostly bread with barely any sauce or bacon. My husband had the crawfish poe boy which he also said was not that great. The beers however are good! And the inside is pretty neat and very spacious. I'd definitely recommend coming here for a beer or 2 but I'm not so sure about the food, which is why I gave it 3 stars. Great beer, not so great food. Our favorite beers were the riptide raspberry wheat and the coastal kolsch.

I love close to this place and have been going for happy hour specials. 4-6 and after 10 is half price apps. They also have beer specials daily. I've never had less than stellar service. Very knowledge staff. Always friendly. Great atmosphere.

The past few experiences in this restaurant that I have had were not worth the money. The bartender barely spoke to me while I was waiting for a table. She got me a Ginger Ale and ignored me entirely until I was called to my table and brought my drink. The food was okay but all of the service was garbage. Hostess, bartender, and waitress couldn't even crack a smile. I was not satisfied and will not be returning.

Great service. However, the drinks were the weakest I've ever had in Wilmington. I've seen more liquor in an eyedropper.

The bartender was great! Very knowledgeable and had a handlebar mustache lol. We went on a Tuesday night for drinks. Tuesday they have 1.99 mug nights so the price was great. They have a full menu including 6 changing desserts. The German chocolate cake was not that good and it was $6. Their beer was great and you can get a flight to try multiple ones without the commitment of a big drink. I loved the raspberry wheat and my husband loved the razz wheat stout. Prefect light and dark beers. Nice atmosphere with outside seating too.

They've got a great gimmick and advertising, and for a long while had a monopoly on the wilmington brewery scene, so it's definitely a local powerhouse. Great staff and service, pretty good beer, but, at the end of the day, it's not much more than an overpriced tourist trap with long wait times, CRAMPED seating, and (just slightly) glorified bar food. It might be worth checking out if you've never been and feel so inclined, but just maybe.

This place is pretty much exactly what I would have expected. They have a reasonable menu with a lot of choices. The food was very good. We ordered the seasonable hummus and I got the fish tacos. Beer was delicious. Definitely a good place for lunch or a fun dinner. Also a good place to watch a game!

Stopped in for drinks and a brewery tour. while in town The brewer was super knowledgeable and we walked away feeling like we had learned more than we had at any other brewery. The beer was okay but I wouldn't hurry back.

Great bar with a huge selection of great beers and spirits. The menu was pretty good, the nachos was loaded with a heap of extras and was devoured as an appetiser by my family in no time. The mains were just standard pub fare without anything special. I think this would be a great bar to spend some quality hours trying out all the brews.

We went here after a wedding rehearsal for lunch about 30 of us and sat upstairs. While we waited we had drinks with the bartender. Jared was amazing. My boyfriend works in the industry so we are picky about service sometimes but this place was great. The only thing I didn't like is at some point we were told we were being too loud. I didn't think that was the case but overall good, drinks, service was great. I'd definitely recommend stoping in for lunch or a drink.

Excellent food overall. Tried the pulled pork nachos. OMG so good! Also we had the crawfish sandwich, which was incredible! My only negative food complaint is the side of avocado I ordered. Easily the worst avocado I have ever tasted. Waitress was attentive and had a great attitude. Place was busy with a short wait, looked to be about the busiest restaurant on the main street in wilmington. But i understand why. Great environment and good food at decent prices. I would go back!

This place advertises with billboards outside of Wilmington so that initially made me think it might be a tourist trap. I wouldn't call it extremely touristy I will say that it gets extraordinarily busy over weekends and isn't good for people who don't like a loud environment. I was attracted to this place because of their extensive whiskey list. They also have whiskey flights which I love. There were several from the local Carolina area which is a fun deviation from the big names you see everywhere. My husband ordered the Mahi and one of their beers and I ordered the veggie burger. I would rate the food as average and decently priced. The only reason I would return would be the whiskey flights but I'd be more inclined to order and appetizer and get a meal from somewhere else.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Wilmington located in the downtown area and I am not alone. They have 2 floors so you can eat downstairs or upstairs or even outside on the street if weather and seating permit. This place is GREAT! Food is reasonable if not under priced. (Hate saying that here) They have in house brews at the bar with plenty of others to try. They have specials on appetizers from 4-6pm and even have daily specials on food. I have never eaten a bad meal here. They are always busy and there is usually always a wait but it is not that long an well worth it. Service has always been great and speedy here. A testament to the well oiled machine they are running here.

I found this place here on yelp while we were looking for food on the way back to our hotel and I am pretty sure I may be getting ready to die from calorie overload. This place is amazing and will be a must visit next time we are in town (assuming I survive).

I went to Front Street Brewery with high hopes and came away disappointed. The place itself is in a cool building with three floors. We were sat on the third floor which doesn't seem to be a usual dining area. There is a bar up there and it is very spacious so I assume it is where they hold events. We sat down at a folding table and chairs that you would see at an outdoor wedding. Not the best of accommodations and I was not impressed. The waitress came shortly after we sat down and took our drink orders. Luckily we also knew what we wanted to eat and placed those orders at the same time since it took our drinks 20 minutes to get to our table. My friend even went downstairs and got beer in less than 5 minutes before our actual drinks arrived. * one plus is the bar is quick! When our food finally arrived half of it was cold. My friend's sweet potato fries especially. Other than some of it being cold the food was good. I would recommend mashed potatoes as a side because they were the best part of the meal. The brisket was good as well. As for drinks if you like micro brews this is the place for you. I'm not a huge fan and was really there for the food. I did try two of their beers and they were different. The raspberry wheat was ok though I didn't taste much of the raspberry. They do have good drink specials and we got a few 10 ounce drinks for 1.99 each. They were also having $2.99 lemon drop shots. Not too shabby.

I travel to Wilmington on business at times, but this was the 1st time I went to FSB. It wasn't overly crowded for Happy Hour, and I got a seat at bar quite easily. The bartenders were excellent and very nice, keeping me informed of the 1.99 mug specials. In regards to the beer, I had the IPA and Spring seasonal. Both were very good. I met a few people. Some were local and some were visitors, and everyone seemed to be enjoying each others company. I didn't try the food, but the wings smelled incredibly good. If I wasn't craving sushi, I wouldve definitely tried some. Lastly, great background music! Ill definitely be baack.

The food here is pretty good, and the atmosphere is young and hip. It always has a long wait and crowds outside, so that could be seen as a good or bad thing, depending on your preference. Their in-house brews are also good - but be careful if you're driving, some of them are very strong! I recommend the fish tacos!

We were so excited to eat here after it was recommended to us by so many people. The service was awesome at the food was spectacular. We had the pulled chicken nachos, fish and chips, and the peanut butter pie. All three were exceptionally delicious. Our server was very attentive and sweet. We can't wait to go back.

I keep trying to give Front Street a chance. The first time we went the beer had a vegetably taste (which means it had Di-Methyl Sulfide). We came back a few years later and I have to say, the beer isn't too much better. I'm a beer snob, I admit it. We homebrew, we have friends who have well liked breweries in Charlotte. And I just wasn't impressed with Front Street. I'm sure the average beer drinker under 26 that thinks yuengling is a fancy beer will think they have good beer, but I just don't think they do. We ordered a flight & liked the ESB the best. The spring brew & the bierre de garde were the least liked. I'm generally not a belgian or farmhouse style beer fan, but we thought we'd try it since the flight comes with 5 to try. The food was average pub food, nothing impressive. We had a pretzel & split a cuban sandwhich, neither of which were amazing & the pretzel definitely wasn't freshly made, it was frozen. I did think the little scrolling photos with descriptions of the brewing process outside the tanks was neat, especially if you know nothing about the brewing process.

It is a nice restaurant! It was a good experience with good food. The second floor is very the best part to be place to have a more private diner. The ambiance is really cool and the service was fast and constant. The food is not fancy, but it is very good, especially if one is looking for barbecue style. Furthermore, it doesn't take long before receiving the food ordered. However, we were first placed on the first floor and it was kind if cold, very noisy, and not very private. I'm really glad we could change to go to the upper floor because my experience wouldn't have been as nice.

Came here for lunch with a party of 4. Had some chili cheese fries for an appetizer. They were good. I ordered a bratwurst plate for my meal. The bratwurst wasn't that good. It was a bit mushy, tasted like it was boiled and had no brown on the outside. I had a side salad, which was fine. The loaded potato salad was very good. Overall, the meal was pretty average. A little better than similar restaurants downtown. No idea why there is always such a long wait here (there was a 45 minute wait the day we went, on a Sunday at about 2pm. We have tried to go for dinner before but decided against it when seeing over an hour wait). I would give it another shot.

Their nachos are amazing - something about the shredded pork makes them phenomenal. The staff makes you feel like you're among friends. Get one if their craft brews and a mug of bacon and you won't regret it.

I might be biased since I used to work here, but damn do I miss the food. And the beer. And the prices. Delicious beers and quality food at a decent price? What more could you want? Some of my faves: Pulled Chicken Nachos - Seriously, nothing else like them. Cheddar Ale Soup - Amazeballs. Chipotle Tomato Bisque - When they have it, do yourself the favor. Crab Dip - Yes, please. Pulled Pork Sandwich - Carolina style, yall. Go for the sweet tater fries. My fave beer: SCOTTISH ALE. DUH. Goes down like candy and gets ya rocked.

A must hit for downtown. Being from a hometown 30 mins from Asheville, I consider myself a beer connoisseur and miss greatly the selection of breweries every block. This place has definitely given me a taste of nostalgia and home. I have yet to sample their entire selection but what I have had is well done. Each night of the week they have a 2.00 mug special of their CRAFT BEER! Most dives can't produce a price this cheap for piss water. Staff has always been great with us when we have been in and the environment is also nice. The in-house ribs with their homemade BBQ sauce is out of this world and priced to suit the wallet. If you like craft beer and good food to match, you better not miss this place or you will be kicking yourself in the ass hearing about it from a friend.

Once again we had an awesome time here tonight. We were seated in our regular booth as we like, right in front. The parents were here this time and they were very pleased with the food, beer and service! Thanks to everyone for a great time. See you next month!

I highly suggest the BBQ chicken salad w balsamic dressing. the pretzel nugget/garlic buttery dip apps were awesome. It was a great surprise from a bar type environment. Staff was really friendly and service was quick. I also recommend the local IPA! Its up there on my IPA list!

Great selection of fresh beer; nice lively atmosphere; excellent service; we were a little disappointed in food that evening (this was our second visit). Presentation was good but food quality/taste less than enthusiastic. Stay away from the burgers; I should not have ignored my hesitation of the "funny" smelling meat as it caught up with me about 5hrs later. We'd return, but with lower food expectations. Summary: Lets say at the moment "inconsistent" re food and as my grandfather always liked to add: "You get what you pay for."

Agree with other reviewers- atmosphere is really friendly and fun. The big, open space draws a lively crowd of good-natured beer drinkers. Prices are unbelievably low for good quality beer brewed on-site. Their "brew of the day" is especially cheap at $1.99 a mug--- insane. Went there with my family on a Friday and took advantage of half price appetizers during happy hour. Food wasn't anything "special," but it was solid bar food and perfect for the venue--- what you'd expect. We ordered the mug of bacon (yes, that exists), onion rings and chips/salsa. I only ate the chips -- and it was your standard pub chip, but salsa was above average: spicy but also sweet. Companions liked the bacon and onion rings, but it was way too greasy for my taste. As for the beers, I had their bourbon aged Scottish ale, which was excellent! Dark beer very balanced -- slightly bitter with just a bit of malty caramel sweetness to round it off. Also had the Kolsch, which is their least flavorful but "easiest" beer to drink. The IPA was also excellent, and really appreciate their willingness to supply free samples. You can also get flights for $5.99 if you just want to try them all, which I saw a lot of people doing at the bar. Service was good-- mostly staffed by the local college kids--- and they try hard! Totally a good standby for downtown Wilmington and probably awesome (though busy) on game days. I suspect you'd have to get there early on the weekends to score a coveted bar seat by the big TVs.

Such a dissappointment all around. The service, the food, the noise level and most of all the beer. The only one I've had that was close to decent was their Kolsch. For a place that takes pride in making beer they do a poor job.

I'm a big fan of Front Street Brewery. I've been there countless times...so this review is the result of all my experiences rolled into one. The service seems to be hit or miss...depending on which waiter/waitress you get. I've had some really amazing ones and some rude/no personality ones...so...it's a gamble. These are some things I recommend from their wonderful menu: Pulled Chicken Nachos: I've gotten these the most of anything I think. They're delicious! The chicken is quite sweet though, and some of the people I've been with haven't really liked that quality...but I loves these so much. Beer Nuggets: I was apprehensive of getting these...but when I did...I was definitely stoked on these. Give them a try! Portabella and Swiss Burger: This is so great!! Everything about it was delicious. I always get the Loaded Potato Salad and Seasoned Fries as sides...both are amazing. (However their homemade chips are BOMB). Greek Chicken Pita: AWESOME. Homemade Crab Cake Sandwich: Probably my favorite crab cake sandwich of all time. Perfection. Fish & Chips: This is the only one that I can say that I was not completely satisfied with. The batter just had no flavor when I got it. :/ Chocolate Ale Ice Cream: I love beer, I love ice cream...I love this. If you go around Christmas....get Tiny Tim Christmas Porter....one of my favorite beers!!! Just writing this is making me want to go to FSB. And Happy Hour is amazing! (1/2 off select appetizers 4-6pm & after 10pm every night!

If you're in the Wilmington area and love the atmosphere of a brewery/restaurant combo, I recommend checking out Front Street. It has a great atmosphere in the middle of downtown Wilmington. The food is a grill mixed with some seafood (fish n chips, blackened salmon, etc). The beer is the highlight of the experience. I would recommend getting the 5.99 flight which gives you 5 5oz flights of their traditional drafts or for a dollar more you can choose any of the drafts you would like. All in all, good quick service, decent food and great beer. Side note - if you're getting married in Wilmington ask to see the wedding space Front Street has upstairs, it is a spacious and private space with great open bar options. Cheers!

Average - about what you'd expect from a place like this. Just beware of the fly. Yes, fly, singular. I'm pretty sure it was one fly attacking us during our entire meal. Dude was like a ninja fly, one minute he's on your plate, next thing you know he's over on someones drink. Up until this review I figured it was just bad luck, until I read another review on here about the same problem. Weird.

Great beer. The buffalo chicken tenders are awesome. If you do not like great beer and food and good service than this is not the place for you. lol I can not say a bad thing about the place. The beer and i have had many types of different beer there is great. I do make sure i get high gravity beer though. Why pay same money for less alcohol, right? The food is great. Although i have not had half of whats on the menu, what i have gotten has been very good every time.

Stopped in for an early dinner. They had decorations all over advertising their seasonal beer, Octoberfest but when I tried to order one, my server said they were out. Ummm, don't you think it would be good to take down the advertisements then? Ordered the IPA instead which had a nice flavor to it even though I still craved the Octoberfest. For my meal, I ordered the Pretzel Salmon. I never had Fried salmon before. I keep forgetting, this is the south and we fry everything. It was good but the coating was a little too fried for me. The mashed potatoes appeared in a standard scooped lump on my plate. They had a decent flavor even if it appeared very unappetizing. The other veggie was green beans and this is what I seemed to receive the most of. All in all, it was decent food for a brewery but nothing I'd consider exceptional. Service-wise my server seemed to be missing for the first part of my dinner but then showed up later and then was a bit more attentive. I asked her about how they sold the beer to take home and she was happy to sit with me and discuss it. So, the summary, good beer, decent food....service could use some improvement.

I absolutely loved this place. My boyfriend and I went anytime we were in the area. There and only there. Every one was usually very friendly and the food is FANTASTIC. We had an issue one time where there was a piece of glass in my boyfriend's beer and he cut his lip pretty bad and was bleeding. We called the manager over and he didn't handle it well. We weren't yelling and screaming so he didn't seem to care too much. He didn't comp our meal. He said sorry and offered a jug of beer. He's very lucky we didn't make a big deal out of it. Since then we vowed not to go back, but we caved about 4 months later when we were craving the chicken nachos. Service was great and we'll probably go back.

Thanks Yelp for guiding us to another great meal! This is a great brewery near the Cape Fear water front in Old Town Wilmington! Olthough big on beer I did have a Hard Cider which was nice...I am beer challenged, what can I say? For lunch we had some of the FSB local faves... Pulled chicken nachos and the Double Burger...both were exceleent choices delivered in good time just as we expected. Service and menu selection were hi-lites...Its a typical brewery with restaurant and bar seating and some upstairs seating as well for larger groups...it was Sunday on off season and this place was packed! Good stuff...I would definitley go again!

This is one of my better micro-breweries that I've been to in my travels. I got the fried dough and onion rings as appetizers, and enjoyed a flight of their own craft beers. Their kettles are behind glass and visible as soon as you walk inside. The burger that I ordered was also quite good. Overall the food, service, and beer was all very good. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is that we had to leave at around 8pm so they could close for a Christmas party on January 7th... Regardless, I would still absolutely go back.

I reviewed this restaurant a year ago, and after having a not-so-great experience was contacted directly by the manager - who apologized for the issues I had mentioned in my review. She went one step further, and sent a gift certificate in hopes I'd return and give them another try. I did. And I will say, the original experience I had was nothing like the second. The server was attentive, he was friendly, our food & beers were delicious. I actually went on my birthday weekend, and he made sure to bring out a dessert of my choice, at no charge, with a candle. They certainly redeemed themselves, and I'll be sure to visit again next time I'm in town!

This was the only place open on thanksgiving night, so we went for dinner. Great pub food, nice atmosphere, good service, and decently good beer. I enjoyed the IPA. The buffalo shrimp were delicious. For what it is I would give it a four, but it was better than typical bar food, so I am giving it a five.

Went here while I was in town and it changed my life for one reason only 3 simple words FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!!!! I tried them for the first time here and I don't even know if these ones where cooked the best because they were my first but I know one thing I am never going back. Plus on top of that add happy hour IPA's and other yummy types of beers. Sold. They have great seating and very nice servers. They also have some awesome dinner and lunch deals, like $6.99 dinners. they have a few vegetarian items which is nice to see in a brewery. We also got the cheese fries which were good, very fattening and we got something else which I can't remember right now so it must have just been mediocer. My only problem now is that I am back home in the west and can not find a fried green tomatoes for the life of me and I am devastated. Ahhhhhh.

Stayed over night in Wilmington on our way back from South Carolina and were looking for a place to eat and grab a few drinks. My wife saw this place on Yelp so we decided to give it a try. So very glad that we did!! It was a Thursday night and the place was booming, with a line out the door for the dining room. My wife and I prefer the bar and we were fortunate enough to get 2 seats right away. Nika was the first one to wait on us and she was just awesome, very friendly and had plenty of suggestions for food and beer. I am not a huge beer lover, but the stuff I tried here was all good. I am a bourbon lover though, and that is where I struck Gold! Front Street has an extensive menu of high quality bourbons, and they informed me that they were still growing in that area. Tim was also behind the bar with Nika and he was superb as well. He knew a hell of a lot about all the bourbons and gave me many quality selections. the best of all was the Old Taylor. Yum!! We only tried a couple appetizers, but they were all very good. The soft pretzel with queso is a must for all pretzel lovers. The loaded pub chips were also very good. But the star of the night had to be the Mug of Bacon!!! Why every restaurant in America doesn't have this on their menu I'll never know, but Front Street, I am so glad you do. Best appetizer I have ever had! Just a big old beer mug filled with crispy, tasty bacon. Doesn't get any better than that!! I will definitely be back to this establishment again.

Just discovered Front Street Brewery this spring. LOVE it! We did several of the whiskey tasting platters and had a mug of bacon or two! Their house beers are very good as well! We could spend many a rainy spring night here! Service was always quite good as well. Nice and friendly but not too pushy.

I liked this place. The food was good and the atmosphere felt a little bit like a pub. Not quite a sports bar, but there were plenty of TVs available if you want to watch "the game." I was here on business and wouldn't really recommend for a nice business dinner. However, it's great if you want good casual fun. The thing I liked the best was the prices and food. I ordered fish and chips which were very good. They also had other intriguing menu items like "mug of bacon" and "hot dog soup." they also have their own beer, which I didn't try on this visit but it did look very good. Overall it was decent and I would go here again.

Basically I've determined that if you live north of Richmond, finding food that suits your tastes in the South is just nearly impossible. And while I'm not a huge fan of any of it, Front Street Brewery wasn't bad. After touring the battleship USS North Carolina, we crossed over into downtown Wilmington to grab a bite to eat and settled on this place. The wait: 25 minutes. The atmosphere: cozy, brewery-like; nice touch of old books in a bookshelf that the booth was built right in. The brews: The IPA was too malty instead of hoppy, and their pride Scottish Ale tasted like cough syrup. I'm sure they'd have something I like if I kept trying, but they definitely don't compare to most micros I've been to. Womp womp. The service: Cute southern belles -- need I say more? The food: It was actually pretty good. Servings were a bit small, but the food was very tasty. I would love to try some other things on the menu. I had the barbecue pulled chicken plate this time. The value: Everything is very reasonably priced, especially in comparison to what I'm used to being from the D.C. metro area. But like I said, the portion seemed a tad skimpy. Could be because I got the lunch special though and not the normal menu order of the dish I got. Next time I will (if I ever go back). Overall, amateur brews and crowded, but decent food and good service at a fair price. I won't be going home raving about this place, but I didn't hate it.

Cool atmosphere.... good food, great location but the service STINKS!!!!! I have been here 4 times... thinking, maybe it was an off day.. but each time I go.. The Port City IPA is an excellent brew. They have 1/2 price appetizers from 4-6pm, which is a great way to enjoy your beer. I ordered the cheese fries, which were covered with a white queso. It's sure to give you a heart attack, but it just might be worth it. They pretty much offer their own beers, so if you're looking for something specific, you might not find it there. But you can't go wrong with their own craft beers.

Next time I go I wanna try some beers but we went on a sunday afternoon after a long night of drinking the day before so I wasn't in the beer mood. The food was pretty good. Nothing special about it. Cheese fries app was good, hot, and came out quick. I got the brisket as my meal. I thought it was a sandwich but it came out it was just brisket on a plate. I didn't feel like asking questions so I just ate it. It was pretty good, but I've had better. I'll go back a few times to try to beer but don't plan on waiting long for the food.

Visited from NY. Beer selection & food are awesome! Prices were great!! Love this place. We made a 45 minute drive back just to have it once more before we went back to NY.

My uncle had his wedding reception here a few years ago and now its an annual staple of our's when we visit. The beers are amazing, the pulled pork sandwiches are to die for! And its big!!!! You wouldn't expect it when you first walk in. Its definitely not your typical bar. Pretty much all the food is delicious, just make sure you get a reservation a week or so out....they're busy, and once you eat here, you'll get why. Love this place :)

Went here a few weeks ago on a Friday night. It was pretty busy but we were able to get a table near the front and tried a flight of their beers. The beers were above average but none that we tried were extremely memorable, though their black IPA was great and I would definitely have it again. The inside sort of has the feel of a chain restaurant, which I didn't really like, but it's not that bad of a place. It was definitely the liveliest place downtown that Friday, which was cool, so I can see why people recommend it.

Amazing Fried Green Tomatoes, ridiculously good selection of craft beer, top-notch burgers, nice ambiance and wonderful service to boot. If I lived here....this would be my watering hole, but since I don't....at least I have some cool Front Street pint glasses ($7 w/beer) to show for it.

Came in here for a beer and an appetizer and what a great decision I made. The Condor pilsner was fresh, cold and tasty. Had the crab dip and it was fabulous. Will definitely be back

FSB has been a staple for me since I was in school at UNCW. It always seems like an easy place to go in and have a yummy beer and the atmosphere is super cool with the hardwood floors and the second floor overlooking the main dining room. Here's the thing, it always seems like a great idea to go but when I am there, I always think, "hmmm, this isn't as great as I thought". Not that it is bad at all, it just always seems it isn't as fancy as it could be. Also, everytime I dine here, there is always a problem with flies. Yuck! I went to FSB this past weekend and hadn't been in a few months and there were flies again, and it was cold outside. What's the deal? Another diner a couple of tables over said "there are always flies here, it's annoying". Weird. The burgers are top notch! I have NEVER been disappointed by the burgers! Of course the beer, brewed right there is always the best also. We always bring our growler back for a refill to take home which is always a good time!

The brew tour was cool. Its not extravagant but guy chris doing it is very knowledgeable. Sat at the bar. Bartender was great, think she was on the newer side but had no problems. It was great to see the manager helping out cleaning off the bar and stuff like that. Didn't go out of his way to talk to any customers.. when we got our bill it wasnt correct, she had forgot to put our food on the bill.. no biggie. There was a senior Bartender who didn't seem to want to help out the new girl. She would roll her eyes when the new girl asked for help. Made me feel bad for her. Tipped her good she was great. Senior baretender was a bit of a rude chick..

Why, why, why must a restaurant that has such potential and really good bar food have such awful service? I love the food here as far as bar food goes. They have traditional options as well as some others for the more flexible eater, liked baked chicken dishes and veggies, but my god, waiting to get a table takes forever, being greeted takes forever, getting your food takes forever, getting your check takes forever.....it's good, but go there for a leisurely afternoon drinking and snacking outing, not a date or if you need to get in and out. I will definitely compliment the beer selection, drink specials, and the pulled pork nachos! I have dreams about them, they're so good!

My boyfriend and I came here on a recommendation from another couple staying at the same bed and breakfast as us. They told us to get the chicken nachos, and we did so. Although we intended to get them as a snack, the portion was enough for two to enjoy dinner and leave us quite full at the end! The chicken was pulled, and the nachos came with cheese, beans, green onions, salsa, sour cream, and jalapenos. We also split a hard cider, which we enjoyed. Highly recommended.

Had lunch while visiting Wilmington on a day trip. Nothing but great things to say. Food was great, restaurant is larger than outward appearance and 7 of us fit easily. Apps: chicken nachos, onion rings, chips with salsa all good. Beers: port city, amber jack both great. All 7 of us had different lunches from burgers, to wraps, to steaks and no complaints here all were good, nothing crazy or two high end, just right. Service was great and we never had to track down our waitress which is a great thing with a table of seven.

We arrived between the lunch and dinner hour thinking we'd be able to relax over a few brews and get fairly fast food service. We arrived in a party of 3 and asked for a table for 6, we were seated upstairs. Our out of towner friends were having trouble finding the place so we enjoyed a few home brews. After about 45 minutes, the hostess came up and asked how many were in our party, I told her we were waiting on friends. Mind you the place was not packed, it was 2:30 on a saturday afternoon. She said, "they need to show up soon or we'll have to move you". My response was, "You better send over your manager then". Our waitress overheard this and came running over, shooing away lil' miss power hungry hostess. She even brought us a free round because she felt so bad. Our friends arrived and we orderded appetizers, chicken nachos and sweet potato fries, both good. I ordered shepherds pie, the lunch special. The waitress informed us that those portions were very small and we'd be better off ordering from the main menu so we did. The food arrived, my portion was fairly small still...the lunch portion must have been a tasting plate! It was made with lamb and quite good but it was cold. I sent it back and the second plate arrived equally as cold. Not happy when lamb and mashed potatoes are cold! The beer was excellent as were the appetizers. I'd suggest going for lite fare rather than the "food" because it simply isn't up to snuff. And avoid the hostess with the attitude...little pip squeak hopefully has lost her job by now.

Real pub in downtown Wilmington. Real pub feel with numerous beers on tap at good prices. The pulled pork sandwich was the best we've had in a while, and thank goodness not too much BBQ sauce! Steamed veggies were well prepared. Good sized pub with an upper level, high ceilings with white antique tin and brick. Nice find.

Here on a Saturday in the offseason and it was packed. Nice environment but tough angles for the TVs if you are watching a game or two. Food was VERY good. Prices were even better! We happened in on a 3-6 specials afternoon and we drank $2 beers and ate half price food. Fried pickles and "wings" (more like small chicken drums!) were incredible. Fried tomatoes were just okay. Reuben sandwich was phenomenal and the fries were solid. Definitely give this place shot (and somehow manage to order a mug of bacon).

Don't bother wasting your time. The wait staff is rude and seem more occupied in gossiping than helping customers!! The wait is long and EVERY person I spoke with agrees the food was not worth the wait!!!!

Just happened to wander in out of the rain because the menu looked interesting, and what a lucky find! Nice, convivial atmosphere and a crackerjack staff, especially Jared at the bar. The fish tacos were terrifically seasoned and the black beans are a nice topping. Don't forget to add the salsa--it pulls the whole thing together. The coleslaw had nice crisp snap and was also well-seasoned. I loved the Port City IPA they had spotlighted. Great hops with a clean citrus finish. I'd be here all the time if I lived in Wilmington.

Great beer. Good food. Frustrated/hard-to-get - a - hold- of bartenders. SHADY shot service.....after refusing the bartender ' s $22 shot suggestion I went with a different recommendation. $28 dollar charge on my bill. My fault for not getting a quoted price, but also my fault for trusting the bartender understood my budget. Underhanded and dirty to use predatory tactics to sell high priced booze...will not go back and humbly suggest you find somewhere else to imbibe.

One of our favorite places to eat while in Wilmington! ALL of their food is exceptional and so is their beer. The beer was so good that we even brought a growler back with us. Although the place was a bit crowded and we had to wait for a table for a bit longer than I'd like, it was totally worth it. The wait gave us some time to check out the bar and try a couple beers before we were seated. Our waitress was especially awesome and answered all our questions. Great place to go for dinner and drinks!

This review is based just on their beer, I never had a chance to eat here. I tried every one of their brews and they were ok, nothing to special. I ended up sticking with the Amberjack most of the night. The bartender was nice and we had a good time but the beer was average.

The beer was awesome! My husband and I got two flights of beer to share and we really enjoyed the local craft beer- could have taken a growler home for each one. Watch out for the hoppelganger black double IPA - it'll get you swacked! In fact, I think my thumbs are a little numb right now! The beers were very well done, very distinct flavors. I really enjoyed the Riptide Raspberry Wheat and the Amberjack Esb. Could drink either all day long. The service was friendly and honest. When we asked the waitress about a few plates she dished honestly and we were glad we listened. The pulled chicken nachos were awesome! I would definitely order them again. We split the Cuban sandwich- also would order again. The atmosphere is fun! Good music and a lively crowd- even on a really rainy night! It was pretty busy so be prepared to taste a few brews at the bar before getting seated. Staff was friendly.

We make it a point to stop here when we visit the beach. The beer is decent, though rarely anything to write home about. The brewers are friendly and accessible if you have questions. But the real star, I'm not kidding, is the shrimp and grits. Hands down the best I've ever had. I dream of these things. It's a thick, creamy grit cake smothered in a gravy so good you could drink a bowl of. The shrimp is always perfectly cooked and there's a good amount on the dish. SO delicious.

Food is reasonably priced and very good. The beer is off the charts! Great craft beer and nice tour. I have tried just about every regular and many of the seasonal selections and they are all excellent. I can't say that about many if any breweries. The place is always busy the day we were there and the other days just passing by. Certainly worth a stop while in Wilmington.

Nine hand-crafted beers on tap! I had difficulty choosing one, so the server offered a "flight" of five beers, each 5 oz. Our server was able to help me choose the five beers that were most likely to match my style. After trying, and enjoying, each of the selected styles, I settled on a pint of the Port City IPA. I would have also had a pint of the American Ale, but I had a 7 hour drive in front of me. The food was good for a brewpub. I split a Carolina pulled pork sandwich and a homemade crab cake sandwich with my daughter. I had a side of cole slaw and the table shared sweet potato fries. All was very good. The server was very friendly and very helpful. We sat close to the brewing equipment and I was able to make out the scent of warm hops--quite nice to one of us at our table (me). The atmosphere of the restaurant is comfortable. A nice plus is that growlers (jugs) of fresh beer may be purchased and taken home.

For lunch, stop by Front Street Brewery for brews, classic pub food and friendly faces. This restaurant on Front Street is a warm and homey place to get a meal. The management team is very active on Twitter so give them a tweet if you are in the area Home of Wilmington's only brewery, the beers are fresh interpretations of classic recipes. Pairing the Dram Tree Scottish Ale with the Riptide Raspberry Wheat creates a raspberry truffle tasting beverage that amplifies the sweetness of both brews. Start the meal with a serving of the fried pickles. These thick cut pickles are vinegared right at the restaurant. Dip the crispy disks of deliciousness in the spicy Tabasco aoili. Worth every calorie! The entrees are generous. The beer battered fish fillets and peppery "chips" is served with a sassy sweet side of coleslaw. If you're looking for a more traditional fare, try the American Burger for good olde comfort food.

I really enjoyed this place. The menu was better than you might expect for a pub and it's really affordable. The vibe is funky and fun. The staff is cool and seemed to be having a good time working. Lots of locally brewed craft beers to try. It was pretty crowded and there wasn't really a good place to wait even in the bar because space is limited. I always felt like I was in someone's way until I was seated. Once we were at our table though I forgot about all that.

Hello Wilmington! This was my first visit so I checked out yelp for dinner suggestions and was pleased with all of our choices. This is a chill local brewery with some decent eats. Appetizers were great, but the main dishes didn't really blow us away. The server was friendly and quick to refill the drinks. For apps we had the fried mac and cheese (5 stars) and fried pickles (4 stars). My boyfriend had a local beer and said it was okay but loved the great north carolina prices (3.5 stars). For mains I had the BBQ beef brisket with rice and a small salad. The rice was not so good (1 star), the salad was light and had some good flavor (4 stars) and the brisket was good, but a little dry (3 stars). The portion was just the right size for me, but I'm a small girl and was thankful for the order of apps. My mom had the gorgonzola walnut salad and was real happy with that. (4 stars). The boyfriend had a brew bq burger and was also happy (3.5 stars) and dad had the classic reuben (3.5 stars). If you want a chill place for decent food, come on down. If you're limited to only a few nights in town I'd move on down the street.

One of our "go to" places to eat in downtown Wilmington. Food is good to great and prices are very reasonable! The late night menu is good! This place has the BEST cheese fries! The only downside to this place is that is gets very loud sometimes since everything is open and the walls echo.

  • Heather W.

It's okay. I always feel like I didn't quite get the right thing. The food's all right--nothing to write home about but nothing to run from either. The fried pickles seem like they might be sweet pickles, which is a little odd and some of them were a little oily. You get a good bit for your money though, especially if you catch them when they're half-price. I'm sure I'll go again next time I'm in town and maybe I'll find that awesome dish that feels like it's hiding there somewhere.

We finally got back to Wilmington and I knew I was going to have to try Front Street Brewery again. I'm bumping my rating up to 4 stars this time for the excellent service and delicious beers. I'm a beer nerd, I track my fancy beers in a fancy beer app and I added a couple of beers from Front Street Brewery to the app to show the world my love. This place has tasty brews! We were right on time for the half price happy hour appetizer specials, actually we were early. So our waiter said he'd remind us when it was time and then we could place our food order. We tried the fried pickles, which were kind of sweet. Not a hit for the table. The homemade chips were homemade chippy, crispy and delicious. But my favorite was the fried dough balls with the buttery goodness on them. I didn't even need the dipping sauce. I kind of want some now, but not at the expensive of a 6 hour drive. Good job guys, we'll return!

I don't get the hype other than a fun atmosphere. Food was average. Our waitress, Megan, was a joke when she realized we we weren't a 'turn and burn' table and we practically had to beg for service as well as forgotten food items. I doubt I will be a repeat customer, too many other places with far better food and service to spend my money at in Wilmington.

An interesting attempt at better than bar food, at bar food prices. Casual environment, though it smelled strongly of mold and bleach when we visited last week. Their beer is ok, nothing to write home about, but service was good. At least there's room for improvement... We were there on a Thursday evening, and there was no wait.

I really wish we had a place like this in LA. I've been here twice (once on a very busy St. Patrick's Day) and both times the food, drinks, and service were excellent. The fried pickles were excellent and not greasy, although you couldn't tell that there was supposed to be tabasco in the aioli. Pulled pork sandwich - amazing. I loved the pulled pork so much that I had it on a salad the next time I came - also amazing. The sweet potato fries were excellent as a side. I don't know enough about beer to judge, but the Coastal Kolsch was great. Irish red ale (St. Patrick's Day special)... meh.

  • Daniel P.

In my review back in January, the beer I had was not good. Last week I stopped back into FSB to see what they had on tap, and found that they had a number of rotated brews. I ordered up a Cream Ale followed by an Irish Red ($1.99 daily special) and a Black and Blue Chicken sandwich. The Cream Ale was OK. Very light in body and flavor. Very slammable, so I pretty much slammed it and moved on. Not bad. The Irish Red was pretty good. Much bolder in flavor and body than the Cream Ale, and much more satisfying. I'd definitely drink it again. The sandwich was excellent. The chicken was prepared just right, and the bacon and blue cheese were great. I've been known to get downright angry at restaurants that can't make a plain-ole chicken sandwich or burger, because I truly think it is pretty easy to do... the sandwich I had was well above what I'd call a "good plain-ole chicken sandwich" and I'll definitely order it again. Well done. After my last review, I felt like I owed the place another chance, and I'll be back soon with a much better outlook. My overall experience was great this go-round, so I'm really hoping there's some consistency. Cheers, Daniel

Apparently this restaurant is extremely popular with the younger crowd. The wait was pretty long to get in, so we went next door for a couple of drinks. The hostess gave us a pager, which she told us worked next door. COOL. We were seated about 40 min. later, upstairs. The food was good--not excellent. It was greasy and high in calories, just right up my alley. We ordered crab cakes and nachos (what a combo I know). The crab cakes were pretty good, as was the sauce. The nachos were just nachos. Not enough cheese for my likes, but heck, I'd already had enough calories to complain much. I would go back but earlier before the crowd arrives. Yes, I'm getting old. :)

Went twice for lunch and sat at the bar for beers and an app. Great service both times. Bartender attentive and knowledgable of the selection. Waitress friendly, helpful, and efficient. Food is pretty good but chicken nachos slightly salty and beer selection tasty. A must see on Wilmington front street.

I heard about this place through a friend and decided to check it out. I loved that we were seated on the second story balcony, but I had to make a mental note to control my alcohol intake so I could manage the stairs when I and my DD left. I ordered sweet potato fries with sauce and a Scottish Rum (which the place brewed -- YUM) and my ex-friend had a huge plate of ribs, slaw and regular fries. I was satisfied, but the menu didn't have many options for a carb-lover like myself. My ex-friend, however, was in love (and would rate it 5 stars) since they are a carnivore. The waiters were great, the atmosphere was cool, the food was pretty good and my ex-friend left with a keg of beer. ;o)

This is a great place. The food was good, the beer was great and the service was phenomenal! I sat at the bar figuring on just an okay meal and a couple good beers but was greatly surprised when I left the place feeling like I had the best night out in a long time. I ordered the grilled fish tacos which were nothing special but good. I also had an El Jefe special draft, their take on a German Hefe which was very tasty and a touch tart then switched to a Scottish Ale for dessert and it was fantastic with nice rich malty notes and very smooth. But the best part of this place was the bartender, I wish I would have caught her name so I could give her credit for a great job on here but she just brought life to the table and had a great personality. I am very much looking forward to my next trip to Wilmington so I can come back to Front Street Brewery!

This isn't your typical college pub. This place has such a personality. The service here was very good and the food wasn't bad. They have some unique dishes and brew their own beer. I love the building. It looks like most of the fixtures are original to the building and it's a real taste of history to look around at everything. My hubby and I shared a beer flight of their different flavors. Since I'm not really a beer drinker, they all tasted similar to me (like beer). My hubby, being a beer connoisseur, sampled them and then picked the Cream Ale to drink. I had one of their house margaritas and it was VERY good. It had no bitterness and wasn't overly sweet. It was the perfect balance between sour and sweet. We came here on the 4th of July and it was very busy, but we got our pager and actually found two seats at the bar soon afterwards. We enjoyed some liquid refreshments and waited about 20 minutes (which isn't bad considering the crowds). We ordered an appetizer of the beer nuggets which are little fried dough balls with marinara sauce to dip. The nuggets themselves were good, but the marinara was delicious!!! Our meal was well paced and the waitress attentive. The only thing I didn't like was their seasoned fries which seemed like that were battered and then fried. Everything else was great. If you're ever in Wilmington and looking for a lot of atmosphere from a restaurant, check this place out. Be prepared to wait, but it is worth it.

I was downtown last weekend and stopped by Front Street. I'm not a beer drinker so I was a little reluctant, but I still thought they made some nice liquor drinks. The menu was good not great. I was shocked at the value though and felt that I could have paid twice as much for the bill. I'd recommend Front Street.

This is a limited review with respect to the food because it was so loud we left after 1 round. They seated us in the upstairs area, and the acoustics made it impossible to talk/hear each other. They re-seated us next to a speaker after asking for a quieter spot. The IPA was solid, but would only come back if I regressed into an obnoxiously loud frat boy.

Passing through Wilmington and thought we should stop in for a beer and a bite to eat. Nice little place downtown! Beer: Tried the IPA and a Seasonal. Both above average for East Coast Microbrew. IPA had a descent hop flavor and finish with a good malt balance as well. Food was good. Had stew and the nachos. Soup had bbq sauce in it that caused it to be overwhelmingly sweet. Nachos however were awesome. Food & Beer = good. Problem with this place is that they have a huge fly problem. The waitress even said that it was due to this being a brewery, the flies were attracted to the brewing process. I have been to close to 100 breweries across the U.S. and never found such a problem with flies. This was a B.S. answer from the waitress. Figure out a way to control the flies, seriously.

  • Jenny K.

My husband and I went here the other day for lunch and while I wasn't blown away, I also wasn't disappointed. We love microbreweries and almost always love the food offered at them, but the food was just ok here. My hubs got the chicken nachos, which he liked, and I got the pulled chicken sandwich. While the chicken was moist and tender and the bbq sauce was just tangy enough, the taste of the chicken was just a little "off" for me. However, since I'm new to the Carolina style of bbq maybe the chicken was normal. I guess I'll have to keep trying the bbq around here to see (yum!) We both had the Raspberry wheat beer which was ok but oddly tasted very hoppy. They were out or not offering some of the beers on their chalkboard so the wheat wasn't my first choice. I'd definitely like to come back again to try some of the other beers brewed here. The reason I'll be back is I LOVE the atmosphere...dark woods, booths, the smell of beer brewing. Also, the lunch specials are phenomenal; both of our meals were $5.99 a piece, and mine came with a side. So although it could be better, I definitely enjoyed my visit.

  • Meghan C.

We always slink away to grab a few, or several, maybe many pints here...the food is totally normal pub fare and you shouldn't expect to have your mind blown. Pulled pork showed up on my nachos, which seriously made me laugh because Carolinians put pulled pork on everything when they can ahahaa! They usually have a beer special and when we were there it was their Chocolate Stout...the beers in general are very well crafted. The bartenders are chatty (learned all about North Carolina liquor laws...who knew?) and friendly.

Had a delicious lunch at the Front Street Brewery today. We got there around 12:15 and we were seated immediately. The upstairs seating is a bit dark but we were hungry and didn't care. The fried green tomato sandwich was delicious! I had it with a side of cucumber and tomato salad which was seasonally fresh. My mom had the porter house cheese steak which was also delicious. They have a great kids menu and highly recommend the chicken tenders. Our server, Nick, was very personable and prompt!

Great pub grub served up in an authentic bar atmospheres. Loud and boisterous place with friendly, energetic servers. Half-price app specials allow you to explore various tastes; salads and wraps are fresh and delish; burgers and sandwiches are satisfying.

Beers are what they specialize in, and their selection is really great. I came for dinner, and I stayed for the service. My waitress was professional, and well-versed in all the beer offerings as well as the rest of the menu. She was happy to suggest some of her own favorites, separate from the nightly specials. I would recommend the mussels - I was pleased with the catch, and the "curry cream" sauce was buttery and delicious. I chose the Fish Tacos for dinner, and while I enjoyed them enough to finish two and take the last home, I'm not sure I would rave about them to a "fish taco afficianado". The fish was pulled/diced/minced and wasn't what I expected, yet the chili sauce made it more than bearable. I also chose the sweet potato fries, and frankly, I've had better. My server was happy to offer several tastes of different beers once she knew I was interested in buying a Growler (a 1/2 gallon to go bottle). I would recommend this place to friends and family as a good place to go and taste some local flavor.

Pleasant experience not worthy of 5 stars though. The burger was very good. The shepherd's pie was good. The fried pickles were interesting. My husband liked the beer. He had an El Hefe. The prices were reasonable.

Friendly staff, good beer, nice atmosphere, & excellent food! We ordered fish and chips. This is a favorite dish that we order in lots of bars and restaurants, but this was my favorite! Find a beer your really like? Take home a 1/2 gallon jug.

Have been here twice and both times were great. We did not have to wait long for a table and had quick service once we sat down. This last time we went I had the Dixie Chicken with mashed potatoes and potato chips. It was very good, great comfort food. I also had their hefeweizen and oak aged pilsner. Both were good but I'm not sure I would have the pilsner again. But the pilsner tasted exactly the way the menu described. You definitely can taste the flavor of the oak barrel. I will definitely go back again.

With only one night in Wilmington, we asked our hotel concierge for a recommendation on a place to eat that wasn't very pricey and had a nice selection of microbrews. She recommended Front Street Brewery and we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, we were told there would be a 20 minute wait (it was a Saturday night and the place was packed). We were seated in less time than that and our waiter was excellent. He was there to refill our waters every time they were empty, was very knowledgeable of the beer selection and the menu items, was helpful and, in my opinion, went above and beyond. I ended up ordering the River City Rasberry Wheat flagship beer and unfortunately I can't remember what my boyfriend got. But, I do remember they were both good! To eat, we started with the Pub Cheese Fried (excellent). *Note: happy hour is 4-7 and after 9 and all apps are half price!* Then for the meal, I ordered the American cheese burger with grilled onions and sweet potato fries. All of it was delicious. My burger was moist and although cooked more than what I ordered, as was my boyfriends. I would recommend ordering it less well done than you actually want it. I highly recommend this restaurant. A great local spot right in the heart of downtown Wilmington!

Here is a short and sweet review: BEER: First and foremost, beer was delicious. Fresh tasting and full of complex flavors. I can't remember specifically which brews I tried, but there were at least three, and I was pleased by all. FOOD: I ordered a Reuben which was delicious and not skimpy on the meats. It was ccompanied by sweet potato fries which were also an excellent choice. My date ordered a shrimp caesar salad which was pleasing to her as well. ATMOSPHERE-SERVICE: It's a very trendy riverfront area so there's lots of younger patrons and college-aged kids. That being said, it's a busy and moderately loud restaurant. The bar is crowded and the staff is busy but accommodating. Our waiter misheard my date's order and she had to wait a little longer for her main dish, but the correction was speedy. OVERALL: Go here! Great grub and delicious brews. You won't be disappointed.

Seems like Front Street Brewery is back at "hit or miss" status. I have been three times for lunch over the last 6 weeks and chicken nachos were ordered every time, every time they came out different; Portion size, preparation, amount of chicken, etc...but it was good all three times. Take this for what its worth. Service was ok. Lunch time only. No flies or gnats.

Strolled into her with my wife on a recent trip to Wilmington. Because of the hour we arrived in town many of the restaurants were between lunch and dinner so our choices were slim. We were hungry so we started off with an appetizer and some of their homemade beer. The chicken nachos were amazing and their brew is tasty too. My wife ordered a burger and I decided on some ribs and pulled pork. While it is rare to find a tomato based sauce in the east of North Carolina, the sauce on the ribs and pork was awesome. The amount of food for the price is outstanding as well. I had enough left over to bring food back with me. Service was on time as well. The waitress was attentive without being overbearing. Would recommend to others.

Came here on a recommendation from a friend, and the moment he said "brewery" we were in. It was a great place to stop and grab some beers and it POURED rain on this beach town. Unfortunately, they were out of a handful of the beers we would have liked to try (the IPA, the Sinful Stout, Papa Doble). I did get to try the Scottish Ale, and it was really good- caramel-y reddish ale. We arrived at Happy Hour for 1/2 off some apps, so we got the friend green tomatoes (YUM!) and the onion rings (OK). My boyfriend and I got the Shepard's Pie to warm us up. It came out and looked like puke on the plate. A pile of ground beef mixture with veggies with a ice cream scoop of potatoes on top. It tasted better than it looked, but it could have been bigger. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and we'd come back to try the beers we missed!

The food seems to be just run of the mill bar food and its small portions too. The beer is ok not a fan of fruit flavored beer.

I'm from out of town and my wife, a friend, and myself were referred here by a relative from the area. Just wanted a quick drink, but the food prices were so good that we had to try a few things. We got the Buffalo Bleu sticks as an appetizer from an ample list of items (that are half-off during happy hour and every night after 9pm I believe) which had a mild spice to them, and were an interesting take on standard mozarella sticks (using mild bleu cheese instead). Next was the Fried Green Tomato BLT (my first F.G.T's, so I can't judge too well, but definitely tasty) and the Shrimp and Grits (with "grits" referring to the delicious polenta that comes in this dish along with some suprisingly-good-for-December tomato slices). The beer was better than expected. The darkest they had was a deep brown Scottish Ale (with more milk chocolate and caramel notes than your average Scottish red), and the ladies each had the organic pilsner (crisp/refreshing with mild hoppiness). Service was great. The server was amiable and patient despite how near it was to closing time. He was there when we needed him and gone when we didn't, which is my idea of great service when you're mostly there for conversation. Great place. Will definitely come here the next time I visit.

Great food and great beer! The burrito rivals one at great Mexican joint. The beer selection is wonderful. I have been to Front Street several times, its always crazy busy and crowded, but the wait staff is great and are always attentive. I have never had to hunt down our waiter/waitress for a refill of one of their great beers!

I went with a friend for lunch and we had a great time! We started with the pale ale which was only 2$ a glass. Then we ordered an IPA and the cheese soup which was beerlicious. For our meal I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was really bland and overly moist in a watery way but the barbecue sauce on the table was amazing so I drowned it in that. All of the sides we ordered were very good. After our meal we ordered the beer tasting menu which also really good. When the bill came we were really surprised to see our total was only $40. our server was quick and really friendly. Next time I'm in Wilmington I will probably go back

This place kind of sucks. Don't get me wrong - all I ever want to do is drink local beer, eat reasonably priced bar bites, and watch football - and techincally, all of that is possible here. But the beers were pretty bad (I had the Rye Pale Ale which... essentially tasted neither of Rye nor like a Pale Ale), and although I had every intention of ordering some cheap bites at the bar, the sandwich and salad sitting next to us looked pretty rough, so we abstained. It also just wasn't comfortable enough of a space - the building was too cold. Two stars because the beer only cost $2, although I think it was only a 10 oz. pour if I remember right.

Met some friends for lunch. The food was average, but the service was very slow. The waitress forgot the beer, never remembered it, brought the incorrect sauce, and was absent for unusually long periods. The building was very interesting, and we sat upstairs. When we came ithe eatery was empty, but in 30 minutes they were pretty busy. Everyone was friendly and the prices were great!

We just went to FSB last night and it was great!! The bartenders were very helpful and friendly!! Spencer recommended the Chicken Nachos and they were amazing. Had lunch here on Monday and we were sorely disappointed with the service. When I ordered Coke, it came out as root beer. I told the server that I thought it might be root beer. I said that it didn't taste right. She looked at me and said no. I asked her for a Coke and she argued that I had Coke. We moved past that and ordered our food. While eating our lunch, she approached the table and said, "we'll, does that taste right?" Needless to say, we will not be back. Seriously disappointed with the service.

Worst. Brewery. Ever. No joke. I walked in around 9:30pm on a Monday, during Monday Night Football, to taste some brews. I took a seat at their bar, which wasn't very crowded and asked for their darkest beer. It happened to be a Scottish Ale, which I sampled and tasted like crap. I also sampled the IPA and went with a $2 mug full of it. I am used to very bitter, great-tasting IPAs, such as Dogfish Head. This beer at Front Street was the opposite. Very fruity flavor and not much bitterness or hoppiness, which is what a true IPA gives you. I decided to try another beer. I asked for the Hefeweizen without sampling it. When the bartender poured the beer and brought it on over to me, it looked like lemonade. Very yellow and not very cloudy, like a Hefeweizen should be. This thing tasted like seltzer water and I hate to knock this brewery, but each beer really sucked. If you are looking for good beer in the Wilmington area, head on over to Old Chicago. It's a few miles from Front Street Brewery and although they don't brew their own beer, you will find roughly 100 beers to choose from...Which means you will enjoy at least 5 great beers as opposed to none at Front Street. Thank God the beers were only $2.

We were having iphone connectivity issues so we couldn't consult Yelp on where to have lunch near the battleship. We had one of those maps of downtown Wilmington that is full of advertisements for local businesses, which had Front Street Brewery listed. I figured a brewery would have enough lunch choices that we could both leave happy so off we went! My boyfriend ordered the brew-bq burger and I had the BBQ pork sandwich with fries. My sandwich was okay (it was actually better than I thought it would be at a brewery) but his burger was awesome, I'd definitely get that if I went back. They have advertisements all over town about their $5.99 lunch specials daily from 11:30-4. Our waitress rang my sandwich up at the regular price (my sandwich was on the lunch specials list), but since it was only like a 70 cent difference I didn't mention it. Parking in the nearby garage is free on weekends. I only gave it three stars on this visit but I think if I went back a few more times and found some things on the menu that I really liked I could easily bump it up to four. If you're downtown and need a place for lunch or dinner that has enough choices to accomodate some picky eaters (and you don't mind some noise), this place should work.

I'm a big fan of Front Street and brew pubs in general. We hit this place up every time we're in the area. The food here is pretty good but the micro-brews are why I keep coming back. Get the souvenir pint glass special (for only about $2 more than the price of a pint) or get their "Mug of the day" which is $1.99 for the day's select brew. I'm a big fan of their amber (not the scotch ale... that one is a little bit too Sam Adams-y for me with the spice...but if you like S.Adams go for it), fruit-wheat beer (rotates), and chocolate stout.

Nice place, good food, nice size portions, and really good service. As vegetarians, we ordered the hummus appetizer and noticed that it had a kind of seafood-esque taste. Probably not a problem for most people, but worth a mention for those vegetarians who decide to come here.

Stopped in here for dinner while wandering the streets on a short day trip to Wilmington. I'm a fan of breweries that have "real food" as opposed to solely pub food. (Rockbottom wins in my book, but Gordon Bierch does not.) They have half price appetizers from 4-7 p.m. so we started with the buttermilk battered onion rings and the buffalo bleu sticks. The cheese sticks were a delicious twist on a mozzarella stick and much better in my opinion. It's a mix of bleu cheese and monterey jack, dipped in buffalo sauce and breaded. So tasty. I had the crabcake with loaded potato salad and the vegetable of the day, which was a good meal, although it was outshined by the cheesesticks. We tried a few different beers. The Raspberry Wheat was my favorite. As a disclosure I am not a beer snob (wine is more my thing) so I can never quite taste the hints of fruits that are in beer, except for Kennebunkport's blueberry, apricot, and pumpkin ales. This rasberry beer had the same kiss of raspberry that you'd taste in raspberry iced tea. Yum. I also had their hefeweizen, which is organic and supposed to have a banana finish, but I couldn't taste the banana. Still a good beer though. My fellow diners had the mug of the day, which was a chocolate stout and we took home a growler of lumina lager. Both were pretty good beers as well. The service was very friendly and our waiter was very helpful with suggestions. At breweries I'm always the annoying customer who tells the waiter what commercial beers I like so he can match me with one and this one made perfect matches.

Keep in mind that I'm a huge fan of the brewery-restaurant combo: My father and I wanted to grab lunch somewhere before I had to leave town, and we drove past the brewery. As it was pouring rain, and there was parking nearby, this was to be the place. My father tried to order a Heineken (which they have? What brewery sells other places beers??), but I quickly shut that down and got him an IPA. I ordered the chocolate stout on recommendation of our waiter. Not the best chocolate I've had, but it was quality. The food was also strong. I had fish n chips, which was a good choice. The French fries were delicious. My father had something with Buffalo sauce mayo or something. I don't remember. He seemed to enjoy it, but I thought that the sauce could have been stronger (that could be my Buffalo blood speaking, though). Service was good, everyone was friendly, and it was overall a good experience. Definitely recommend this place to a friend.

Great beer and good food. Decided to try the place when visiting Wilmington for the first time while attending a wedding. My wife had the fried green tomatoe sandwich and loved it. This was the first place where I had some Carolinian BBQ. The pork sandwich was vinigery and dreamy. Also, I tried a recommeded Helfeweizan (spell?) which was great. Service was very professional and efficient. (Coming from a food and beverage business point of view). Also, the area issues sanitary ratings posted as soon as you walk into an establishment, which this place had been rated recently with a 97%. :) So, for lunch I highly recommend!

My second time coming here while on a short stay in Wilmington. I got the pulled pork and baked beans and the $1.99 beer special which was an Irish red beer made specially for St. Patty's. Service is pretty good so is the atmosphere. I would definitely come here again.

Good food for a brewery and a great location downtown. The happy hour serves up 1/2 priced aps too. A fun place to chill and catch a game. I didn't come here for the beer, but I was pleasantly surprised in them. Nothing special or unique the menu. They make their own fried pickles but don not use a true dill. It's cut as a round and not a spear nad is bit sweeter. But very good if you are not expecting a classic frid dill.

We brew our own beer. As a result we just can't say no to a brewery. It's a sickness. Unfortunately, we have drunk a lot of sub-par beer as a result of this addiction. FORTUNATELY, that was not the case with Front Street. Their beer is really good. Hubby ordered a 5 beer flight that included their lager (which was a little like a Stella), the raspberry (to appease me because he doesn' t like fruit beers), the IPA (which made him smile because it was very hoppy - probably Cascades), the Scottish Ale (nice and smooth with a simple character), and the Vanilla Porter (which I really, really liked). The problem with most brew pubs is that you usually only get one good thing - beer or food. Often you don't get both. This place served up some really good food in addition to some really good beer. We ordered BLEU CHIPS as an appetizer. Crinkle cut, soft fried, small round disks of sweet potato chips topped with a Gorgonzola cheese sauce, applewood smoked bacon and scallions. $6.79. I don't know what they put in that cheese sauce, but I'd like to have it poured on just about everything I eat for the rest of my life. I almost had a heart attack when the waitress took the plate away when there were still a few chips on it. I ate the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES appetizer as my entree. Sliced green tomatoes, battered and fried. Served with a chipotle remoulade for dipping. Layered with crab and ramono cream cheese $8.. They were excellent. They were nice and crispy. The crab was a nice balance. The chipotle remoulade was spicy-sweet and there could have been more of it. Hubby ordered the GRILLED PESTO CHICKEN SANDWICH. Grilled chicken breast with pesto served on a Kaiser roll topped with provolone, lettuce and tomato. $7.99. It was a nice sandwich. The kids each had a cup of the cheddar ale soup. It was made with lots of ale and some very sharp cheddar. Not a good option for the kids. It was pretty strong, pretty thin, and while an adult might appreciate the complexity of the flavour, it was a little too grow-up for the kids. I loved it, but I was too full to help them finish. Service was good. The ambiance is very nice. Hubby was impressed with the restaurant's decision to put the beautiful blonde out front as the hostess. *rolling my eyes*

We were in Wilmington last week for our summer vacation. Since we love pubs and brewery's, I consulted my fellow Yelpers for the best pub grub. As usual, they did not disappoint. FSB is a great little brewery/restaurant. The beer is cold and wonderful, the food is great and reasonably priced and the bartenders are the best in town. We enjoyed it so much, we ate there six times in five days. Bartenders Joe and Spencer went out of there way to make sure our glasses stayed full and we had all we needed. We are thinking of spending the Christmas holidays in Wilmington this year and FSB will be our first stop.

lunch review - any place for that $1.99 beer mugs for lunch on Mondays is good in my book. Especially housemaid Scottish Ale. If you like Guiness, then try it. Food was good as well - fish tacos and pulled chicken salad were excellent, service good and the atmosphere very lively. I'd go back.

The appetizers are $2 on Friday nights. We had a huge plate of natchos, popcorn shrimp, fried cheese sticks, and chips and spicy salsa (regular pub food). They were surprisingly good! The portions were also very big - enough to feed 4 hungry guys. Then the beer!! ohhh boy! $1.99 special between 4pm and 7pm (we were there at 5pm). The beer was a Saison style belgian wheat and was excellent for the price, size (10oz mug), and taste. Then Dinner - the 3 other guys had a chicken and rib special - $12, and each one was enough to feed an army. The taste was excellent - very light hint of vinegar in the BBQ sauce - not overpowering and carmelized perfectly on the ribs. I had the 10oz. Rib steak - $13.99, with two sides! A german potato salad that was excellent and the pub fries - also excellent. The steak was slighly under cooked (ordered med. rare and came out rare), but I was hungry and it was delicious, so I ate the whole thing. In fact the only complaint I had was the waiter could have been by our table slightly more often as we downed our beers and sat waiting at one point, but he did apologize and we did see that the place was packed. Overall a very good experience....

This is a legitimately decent spot to have dinner and/or a couple of beers any night of the week. The beer is good, if not great. The IPA is poorly balanced, with the hops overpowering the malt, but it's a good American gesture toward the style, and the Scottish Ale is potent and smooth. Every night of the week you can get a "mug" of a rotating tap for $1.99 (10 oz.). That's a nice deal, in this day and age's brew-pub culture. We also ate here. We had the $2 garden salads (pretty terrible, but fitting their price) and fish and chips to start. The cod was done just right, but presented without malt vinegar or lemon. The fries were okay and the coleslaw mediocre. We then ordered the fried green tomato dish and buffalo bleu sticks when happy hour kicked in (9pm, when said appetizers went to half price). The fried green tomatoes were stellar. Crisp and flavorful, with the delicious chipotle remoulade... This is a dish worth thinking about ordering, especially at half price. The "bleu" sticks were less impressive. Their flavor was so strong, and the sour cream dipping sauce so lazy, that we really weren't into them. Experimenting, however, we daubed the chipotle remoulade off a fried green tomato just to see what would happen. How wonderful! This place doesn't have the whole menu figured out, and the beer isn't exceptional, but it was a fine start to our evening and our waitress was truly excellent. So, AOK from us.

While I've enjoyed Front Street in the past, my experience over the weekend has ruled out any subsequent trips. Their IPA, while generally inconsistent, tasted more like a hefeweizen than an IPA. My waiter was exceedingly inattentive, not making his presence known for nearly thirty minutes while I waited to order. My meal was poor - bread was stale, tomato mealy, lettuce on the brown side, and burger cooked to near char. I think their marketing campaign may have taken priority over consistency in food and service.

This review is more on the business itself. Having worked in the food industry, when I pick a place to eat I want to know if the establishment is good to its staff. I have to say that this place is up in the air about that. For some time I dated a waiter that worked here and found out a few things that made me wonder about this place. The positives is that they are definately equal opportunity here, it doesn't really matter what race, gender or sexuality. That is a real plus. They also have a rec soccer team for the staff which you dont often hear of. However, from my understanding, this place is really just a pet project for the owner. He owns a couple of rest. and therefore this is really his toy. Prices change...the menu changes on a whim...and since this is a brewery he really pushes his own beer. That's pretty normal but from my understanding the staff is really pushed to sell these huge jugs (Seriously like a back woods jug) of beer and if they dont make a certain quota they are punished. The food is really only so so for the price. Honestly the best part of the entire place is the setting. The building is cool. I wish the best for this place because its neat looking and the staff is nice but beyond that I just have no feeling for it.

I was staying overnight in the area and needed to find a place for dinner. I wandered around passing this restaurant which was full of people (always a good sign) so I decided to eat there. The wait was about 20 minutes for a party of 3. Great, fun, loud atmosphere. I am not a drinker, so I can't comment much about that I ordered the pulled chicken burrito. It was spectacular and filling. My husband had the country fried steak and said it was remarkable. Although we didn't see much of our waiter, I am giving a good review because the food was unforgettable.

Front Street Brewery has a good concept, decent atmosphere and a good location, but those are the only things positive that I can say about this place. We went to have a late lunch today and received what I can only describe as the absolute worst service possible. Seriously, I have had better service at a roach coach. It started when our scowling hostess sat us at the smallest table right beside the door. Followed up by waiting for about 10 minutes for a waiter. We finally were able to order an appetizer and a beer. Portions were skimpy and the IPA tasted like Hefeweizen, but we weren't too disappointed yet. Fast forward 30 minutes, appetizer is gone, beers are gone and we hadn't seen our waiter. People around us were waiting for checks and one table was waiting for silverware. When the waiter finally came back by I expressed my concern for his well being since I had thought maybe something had gone a foul, but he just mumbled something about being overwhelmed, even though the restaurant was only half full and there seemed to be several people running around, albeit they all looked about as happy as our scowling hostess. We decided against our better judgment to order some burgers and a second beer. Our waiter, and by this point I really think its insulting to anyone in the service industry to call him that, didn't ask how we wanted the burgers cooked and he disappeared again. We wait another 15 minutes without seeing anyone and finally I have to go to the bar myself to get our beers which have been warming up for the last 10 minutes or so. Well the burgers would have been good if you like it cooked beyond recognition and stale buns, but unfortunately for us this is not our preferred style. Fries were good. Finally we escaped our last visit to Front Street. I honestly can't remember a worst dining experience and I can't figure out why these FSB is wasting so much money on advertising when they can't even offer decent service. I wish I could give this place negative stars, but alas, one is the lowest that yelp would allow. We should have saved the $40 bucks and gone some place classy like Andy's. At least the food probably would have been better.

The Brewery/Restaurant combo never seem to survive but I think the Front Street Brewery has made a very successful combination. Their food is very good and their beers are great too. The wait staff are friendly and fast. The restaurant and bar are well set up and are just as inviting for an after dinner drink or a full meal. Of course my son loved looking at the brewing equipment but it would be nice to know on their web site when they actually are doing a brewing - I think it would be right fun to watch. Well okay so I am easily entertained, what can I say. A visit to Wilmington would be incomplete without a trip to the Front Street Brewery.

On a recent rainy day visit to Wilmington, my boyfriend and I decided to warm up and grab a bite at Front Street. We were pleasantly surprised to find half-price starters between 4pm and 7pm, so we decided to get a melange of apps. We had the Pub Cheese Fries, Fried Green Tomatoes, Buffalo Bleu Sticks, Jumbo Soft Pretzel, and Buffalo Tenders. I tried everything, with the exception of the Buffalo Tenders which Paul said were OK, but not great. The Pub Cheese Fries were average. They were obviously made with frozen fries, and had a weird combination of nacho cheese dip and shredded cheddar on top. The scallions were a nice touch, though. The Fried Green Tomatoes were a bargain at about $2.50, were nicely fried, and served with a reasonably good chipotle remoulade. I would order them again. I also liked the Buffalo Bleu Sticks. They're like mozzarella sticks, only prepared with monterey jack and bleu cheeses. They also somehow infuse the breading with buffalo spice. The menu says they are served with sour cream, which would have been good, but I got some other sauce. They're tasty, and just the right amount of spicy. The Jumbo Soft Pretzel was surprisingly fresh and delicious, and cooked perfectly. The service was fine, but not exceptional. The atmosphere is kind of generic. The standout of the whole visit was the house-made organic Hefeweizen. Mmm mmm. I'm giving the place three stars for now, but I'd like to return and try some other menu items and beers.

We have been here several times and generally enjoy our meals. Unfortunately yesterday was not a hit. We had limited time so we ordered the shredded chicken nachos, they were so sweet we almost couldn't eat them. The sauce on the chicken was sweet, the cheese was sweet and there was something else on them that was sweet as well. The service was great and our server did a great job getting us in and out.

Enjoyed a rehearsal dinner on the top floor. Super cold...like super cold!!!! But food and service were decent. The baked beans were the best I have ever had and the potato salad was pretty good too.

Review in progress: beer is good. For some reason the kitchen staff can't toss half an order of the hot legs in the Buffalo sauce and half in BBQ.

Tried this place a few weeks ago and loved it. My friend has always wanted to take me but I never wanted to but glad I finally did. The servers are nice and patient with you. Got the chips with salsa and queso for extra .99 but salsa had a kick to it and so did the cheese but nothing that you couldn't handle. I got the Philly cheese steak and my Favorite mash potatoes. The mash potatoes are like any mash potatoes and the cheese steak was great it was a even about of everything. I will defiantly go there again

4th Fridays is not the night to visit, too crowded, they took cell phone number to txt when table would be ready; however, we still waited an hour and half. They told the person who left cell phone number that we were the next table, then they split a 8 top table into a six top and 2 top which did not work for our party of seven. Also too loud to talk, probably a great place for college age and right out of college, but not for mature age adults. Do not go there to enjoy a glass of wine, their wine list was horrible. Do not go there expecting to get good seafood, you would think that in a beach area, they would serve decent seafood, wrong! The teriyaki tuna was edible but nothing to write home about, all in all probably a great place for burgers and fries or fish and chips. Our server did a great job, got a little flustered when taking the credit cards. ONION RINGS WERE SOME OF THE BEST, THAT I HAVE EVER HAD. this is not a restaurant that I would return to, unless management changed and had better attitudes.

I've been here on several occasions but have never written a review (until Yelp just prompted me to do so). I love the fact that the brew their own beer. I've had the Scottish Ale, IPA and Kolash and they've all been great. The bartenders have been great, always checking in on you to make sure you're ok. My favorite thing here has got to be the Pulled Chicken Nachos. They're listed as appetizers but you can get pretty much a whole meal out of that alone. Would I wait to eat here if there were a lot of people? Probably not but the food and service isn't bad and is one of the better places for a sit down meal in the downtown area.

I've waited to write a review for Front Street until I've been here a few times. Overall I'm very pleased and will return again, and again, and again. From a brisket quesadilla , to pulled chicken nachos, to an all American burger, to a mug of bacon.....YES, I typed that correctly, an entire mug filled with bacon! So the food here as a whole is very delicious. But it's also a great place to drink. Front Street's own brewed beers are delicious. The menu explains each and satisfies all likes. And if you like it enough you can order a jug to go. They also have a huge selection of whiskey and other great booze. And what I was pleased to see was Grand Marnier100. Great night cap.

So we stopped in on 4 July they were kind of busy about a 45 minute wait so we decided to hang around. Then all of a sudden and a table opened up out front on the sidewalk and that was fine for me to catch a few beers and enjoy the view of downtown Wilmington. I would recommend coming back anytime.

Took the family there for a late lunch. The atmosphere was great. Very family friendly, the servers were very tentative. Your able to do tours of the brewery, we wasn't able to do it this time but would love to do the tour next time. Their lunch menu wasn't too extravagant, beer was AWESOME. But the food could have been a little better. Willing to give it another chance.

Being allergic to shellfish makes eating out difficult... My waiter checked to see if the fryers were separate and when he found out they weren't he went through the menus to help pick out some of his favorite non fried options... Great food friendly staff would recommend to everyone

Great food, good beer. The brisket was fantastic. Super tender and flavorful. The best BBQ needs no sauce and this brisket hit the mark. Of course, the BBQ sauce is quite delicious. My wife had the meatloaf and it came with a side of fried Mac and cheese. Her entire meal was delicious! The IPA was pretty good. Better than most brewpub IPA's, since most cater to the light-beer drinker whom wouldn't know a good beer if they drowned in it. All in all, I'd go again.

Before all the good apps (buffalo shrimp, chicken tenders) were removed from the "half price apps" menu I would have given 4 stars. The beer is wonderful, brewed in house and seasonal. The food is above average and appropriately priced. I like to take friends from out of town down tot he river and this is usually one of our stops.

Great service, and awesome food. I had the fish and chips, which wasn't bad at all. But my girlfriend had the pulled chicken burrito and it was AMAZING. I highly recommend this place not only for their food and service, but also their beer. Made in house and it is damn good. Plus they cook a lot of their food with it...

Went here a few nights ago, had the cheesy pub fries and chicken finger dinner. My husband had a steak with mashed potatoes. I have to say the best part was the pub fries. So delicious! Next time we go I honestly might just get those. My dinner was goosld too, but those fries...yum! My husband loves his dinner. Only down side was that im 9 months pregnant and they stuck us at a high top table, not very thoughtful. And our waitress wasnt the most pleasant. Just seemed to have a sour attitude. Took alittle while to get the food as well.

The Front Street Brewery is a downtown Wilmington staple. If you are visiting the area and want some good, local food...it's a good choice. Also, as they are a local brewery...there are lots of beers to choose from on draught. Personally, I like dining at the "FSB" when it's a bit slower than normal. Mainly, because the acoustics of the restaurant can be quite harsh when the restaurant and bar are packed with lots of loud customers. For this very reason, I would not recommend the FSB for business meetings or date nights. If you always want to be sure you can hear your accompanying diners...try something a little more intimate than this establishment. All of the entrees are a hit. I am partial to the fish and chips. Don't miss out on the "pulled chicken nachos" as an appetizer. These are so good that they are mysteriously eliminated from the "2 for 1" appetizer menu at certain times of the evening.

Cool atmosphere. Good food. I ate the blackened shrimp wrap, which was amazing. Being from Portland, I'm a big fan of good beer and they have it! You can actually see the large cats they use to make beer as you walk in, they built it into the decor.

The Nachos were once a thing of legend. I was once asked to explain what they tasted like. The best, albeit, incomplete description I came up with was this... There was a great nacho God who showed pity on the city of Wilmington, for it had no good nacho serving restaurants. Unto the cooks of Ft St. he entrusted a sacred pork recipe, sweet yet tangy with a hint of spice. But his greatest gift was this, THE QUESO SAUCE OF HEAVEN. Literally, the essence of heavenly clouds squeezed into a bottle and then generously poured over the undeserving chips and other ingredients. The pork and white sauce mate on your tongue in such a way that leaves you in a state of both ecstasy and satisfaction.... We would drive from Jacksonville at night just for the nachos. Now they are just"alright" they seem rushed and inconsistent. We stopped going since, they must have lost their favor with the Nachismo God. Most of the other food has a strange Irish hint that we are not a fan of.

Went here while on vacation at the beach. The wait time was pretty dang long, but we did get there shortly after opening. I had the Brisket Sandwich and it was pretty great. I'd say the long wait was rather worth it, assuming you aren't going alone. The atmosphere was great and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The only think I can't speak for was the alcohol, as I don't drink. The people I was with seemed to really enjoy it though. Prices for food were incredibly fair too, especially for what seemed to be a touristy area of town.

While in the area my boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch...and I'm glad that we did. We both had the shepard's pie...omg soooo good! And I hate peas...God do I hate peas...and this thing had peas all over the place. I man'd up...and ate everything. Did I say how good it was? Lol. And the lunch portion size was just enough...very fulfilling. My boyfriend tried some beer...honestly I can't remember the name. He just said it was ok. Sorry all...I don't drink so I'm not sure about that aspect. It wasn't busy at all...we were seated immediately...no complaints whatsoever.

This restaurant is hit or miss. We avoid it during the summer high season. We have had great Shrimp and Grits and dried out burgers. But I have to say with a family of four adults, you can get out of there with dinner and a drink for $65.00.

I wasn't expecting much when I went into the sole brewery in the beach town of Wilmington, North Carolina, partly because NC's brewing scene is still developing and partly because, well, it's a small beach town. And it's a good thing I wasn't expecting much, because that's exactly what I got. As it was, I was pretty content. The location is pretty standard for what I've come to expect in a small-but-tourist-laden town. With a large number of historic brick buildings to choose from in Wilmington--after all, it is a port city in one of the original colonies--the site was sure to be charming. And it was. Lots of woodwork and unpretencious beer-inspired decorations made for a pleasant atmosphere. The World Beer Cup awards hanging on the wall didn't hurt either. It was crowded on the Saturday evening we stopped in. No surprise there--it's a family restaurant in a tourist town. There were a few more children running about then I would prefer in a brewery, but then again, there were a few more children running around then I would prefer anywhere. Despite the bustle, the two of us were seated immediately and a beer flight came not long after. The selection was pretty decent. There were more beers than spots on the flight, so we just started working our way down the list. Nothing jumped out at me, and none of the styles were surprising. The blonde was actually pretty tasty for the style, the IPA had a nice finish, and the amber was, as always, palatable. By the end we had ordered our food and had a second flight delivered, with all new beers except one. There again weren't many surprises, except for their recent award-winning spring ale, which definitely lived up to the billing. I don't usually go in for spring ales, but this one was different somehow. It had depth and layers of flavor rather than just being crisp and refreshing. The food that came out of the kitchen was pretty on par with the food. It was good, fine and decent, but it lacked a wow factor. I got a classic pulled pork sandwich with barbecue sauce and coleslaw on top with a side of mashed potatoes. The sandwich was on par and the mashers were phenomenal. I don't even want to know how much butter, cream and salt went into those things. My wife ordered a fried green tomato BLT, with chipotle remoulade on grilled sourdough. By the sound of it, the sandwich should have been heavenly. For whatever reason, it was average. Despite the large number of customers, I felt pretty well tended. I wish we weren't stuck at a table amongst a ton of families with small children, but I guess that's what you sign up for in a tourist town. In any case, the next time I'm in Wilmington, I might stop in for a single beer, but I won't be having dinner here.

Only reason for not giving 5 stars was because it was very very loud! The food and beer were delish and good prices for both. We had the brisket quesadillas and the meat was smoky and tender...not dry or overly salty and smoky like some brisket tends to be. The portion of meat was quite generous but we would have liked a little more of the Gouda. We had the fried donut holes which were dense, chewy and coved in not too sweet icing. They were served piping hot and you get a lot of them. Our server was Jenna and she took great care to make sure we always had what we needed. She was knowledgeable about the menu and had a friendly approach to serving us. We will be back!

Beer specials are great, if you don't know what you would like have a flight or two. The pulled chicken nachos are the best you will ever have. I personally like the brisket and also the Shepard's pie. Good place, can be crowed at times.

Generic ketchup makes me wonder where else they cut corners in the kitchen. I'm an avowed Heinz ketchup fan and I don't use any catsup at all. It is such a shame too because they served up perfect thin, crispy, seasoned onion rings with a runny ranch dressing. The kitchen thriftiness also showed when my small butterflied or double breasted chicken sandwich arrived partially covered with a single thin fig-leaf sized slice of cheese. I dubbed my margarita a "margarita slurpee" because it seemed to be mostly fruit juice - like a mango had fallen in there some how. Sweet and easy to drink a lot but not so much your typical margarita. I want to like this place. The atmosphere is great. The menu and pricing are both attractive.

Every dish I've gotten here has been delicious. I definitely recommend the crab dip appetizer; it's served with warm pita bread and I could run a train on that. Trust me, everything is divine. It can be a little loud, but it's worth it.

Came in to get out of the rain; grabbed a beer at the bar. Big place, maybe 20 seats at the bar plus plenty of booths. From hostess to servers to bartenders - all pretty girls. But that won't stop me from going back. I had a decent local brewed IPA for $6.00. Several flat-screens behind the bar with sound off. Background music was contemporary pop. Middle of the afternoon on a weekday and the place was half-full. I had walked past several times in the past week - very busy nights and weekends.

LOVE this place. The bartenders are friendly, the beer is excellent and the food is good too. I usually go and just sit at the bar. I highly recommend the Scottish Ale as I believe it is the best beer they have. I also recommend--if you like fruity beers---the raspberry wheat. If you mix the Ale and the wheat together, you get a "Blackberry" and OMG is it delious!!. The food is excellent too. I love the shrimp with the mashed potatoes and I have ordered the buffalo shrimp too. I DO NOT recommend the loaded fries though--it's a grease pit. But the homemade chips are wonderful and the nachos are great munchies with the beer. Every time I go, I have to wait for a seat or table. The place is always packed and that is a good thing. They are open late if you get a craving for something. I probably go here at least twice a month if not more. If you like beer, this is THE place. :-)

Danielle, our server, was great! Seemed like she was having a rough day, but I tipped her over 100% of the bill, so hopefully it got better :) The BBQ/Buffalo Chicken Fingers are AMAZING! This was the best, hands down chicken strips I have ever had. The chicken pieces were so supple and tender; definitely not frozen chicken. The appetizer is not a half off item by the way, but the price was $7.99 and WELL WORTH IT! This place just made my favorites list!

Got there about 2pm on a Wednesday 10 minute wait Not bad Beer was Scottish ale Good flavor no aftertaste I had a rueben and loaded potato salad Both were excellent My wife had fish and chips with cole slaw The fish was good but one piece was a little over cooked (hard as a rock) Cole slaw was cool and sweet I liked it The vent over my wife's seat dripped on her a few times They should look into it I'll be back next year

I love this place! Their burgers and beer are the best around! I love the Scottish ale with the brew bq burger. The jumbo soft pretzel with beer dip is awesome! Great pub atmosphere. It was best to see the vats right next to where just was eating. The place was alive but not typo loud that you couldn't carry on a conversation. I ordered the fish and chips. The coleslaw was ok. The tartar sauce was ok. The fish was kinda hard but good. Service was excellent. Fat in and out but didn't feel rushed.

I love the beer options they have here, being an IPA aficionado. I always aim to buy beer as direct from the source as I can, and here that's accomodated well. You can even buy a growler or jug if you stumble on your new favorite. As far as the food goes, it's always been good and above-average bar food. I think everything is reasonably priced, and I'm very partial to the pulled chicken burrito and quesadilla. Service has always been decent and this restaurant always seems busy. If you're in the mood for a good, casual meal with great beer, check it out next time you're downtown!

Front Street Brewery is normally our first stop when visiting Wilmington. We went during happy hour, so chose to get some of their half price appetizers, basically to suffice for our dinner. They brew their own beer, I tried several, but liked the black IPA the best. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and even gave us some great advice on other bars to try while in town. We will likely be back next time we visit Wilmington.

Went here for dinner on a Saturday night. Awesome. Dinners were $8.99 and beer prices were great. I got a traditional hamburger and the beer sampler. Beer sampler came with 5 (5oz) beers that were great plus the price of $5.99 was unbeatable. About a 20 min wait for a table but they took a cell phone number and just called/text when our table was ready. I would recommend this place. It was packed too which I think is usually a good sign.

When I first moved to Wilmington two years ago this is the first place I had a meal. I ended up ordering shrimp & grits. Best meal! Having come from Seattle I had not eaten a lot of Southern style foods. This was a great first step. Been back a few times since and haven't been disappointed.

Overall I'm going to give this place a solid three just based on my limited time here. I liked the IPA for the most part. It was allot more mild then the NW style IPA's I'm used to drinking but good none the less. Food looked great, staff were nice and very attentive.

We ordered takeout for our first night in Wilmington, NC. After a long drive it was easiest. My boyfriend ordered the blue cheese burger. He said it was good. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and walnuts, gorgonzola, and cranberries. It was pretty good too. Not bad for a quick meal.

First time out to Front St Brewery and I was definitely quite impressed- great food, great atmosphere, great service, and of course, great brew! If you know of a Flying Saucer, there are a lot of aspects about this place that will remind you of one. The food. Great selection and quality dishes from what I've seen. As per what I ordered, I can tell you the burgers were fairly tasty, probably an 8.5 out of 10. Most menu items are modestly priced. The beer. They're ok on selection but their homebrew is really decent and is obviously their pride & joy. I enjoyed their sampler, for a couple bucks you can enjoy 6 tastings. Service was a 10/10, couldn't have been any better. The interior. This did it for me. Great layout and general atmosphere for a brewery, classy joint. Adequately spaced, with both downstairs and upstairs areas. I came by here around lunchtime, but looking forward to dropping in again soon at late night!

Go here for the beer. Get a sampler. Bring someone else, get two samplers and you can try all of their beer. The beer was great, they have a really good IPA and a raspberry wheat beer. The food was fine. We got the crab dip, with fried green tomatoes and a salad. They were both fine, nothing too special, but the beer really stole the show.

Great local brewery. Bartenders knew the beer and were able to make great suggestions based on what I like. . While the draw is the excellent microbrews that they brew on site, they also have an very good selection of spirits with an impressive whiskey selection as well. . This is definitely an establishment that we will be returning to.

Went for the brews and apps. I was with my step daughter and niece and they were interested in going to Front Street Brewery. I ordered a sampler of 5 beers Chinook (Good), Tiny Tim (Very tasty coffee porter), Stampede (nice scottish), IPA (had better), and Chendo (good). Also ordered the Cascade which was very good. Over all the beer selection was pretty good. My niece had the raspberry wheat which was also tasty. For apps I had the grouper nuggets which were good, especially in the dipping sauce. My step daughter had the pulled chicken nachos which she said were excellent. My niece had the crab dip and fried green tomatoes which were both good. The menu selection seemed good, but like I said which just came in for drinks and apps. The service staff was friendly and very attentive.

Love it, love it, love it. The beer is great! I love that they do samplers, it was nice to be able to try a few different kinds of beer. There was no wait around 7 on a Saturday which was great because we were starving! It was busy but the staff did a great job keeping up with all the customers. The food is also great, my sister and I ordered a bunch of appetizers and everything was delicious. This is a great place for dinner or drinks, the atmosphere is bustling and there are always a lot of people. I really like it and will definitely be back!

We traveled to the brewery for a quick lunch after stopping in Wilmington for the day. My boyfriend and I love to visit breweries and drink craft beer. My parents were also with us and enjoyed the place. We got the chicken nachos after looking at the reviews on Yelp, and let's just say we were not disappointed whatsoever! They were absolutely delicious. We got the IPA and raspberry wheat beer, both which were amazing and highly recommended. The meals we got were the pretzel chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, Reuben with chips, black and blue burger with chips, and Philly cheese steak with regular fries. We all enjoyed what we ate! We were even sharing what we ordered so that we all could enjoy each other's meals as well. Even the ketchup was AMAZING!! The service was great. We had our beers within 5-10 minutes, granted, we were there on a Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 PM. But we had our nachos within the first 15 minutes and meals within another 10 after finishing our meals. We finished and paid our check within 45 minutes. Take home message: Highly recommend. You must check this place out.

The pulled chicken nachos seriously made me fall in love with this place; pulled chicken, black beans, cheese, queso, jalapenos, sour cream, salsa, and tomatoes.Oh so freakin' good! And the Crab Dip; oh god..I can't even begin to tell you about this one. It's on point with the nachos. We topped it off with a growler of the Riptide Raspberry Wheat. Fantastic, Fantastic!!

We ordered a ton of stuff here and everything (including service) was just okay. Fried Green Tomatoes - Very thin and chewy, not very much tomato taste and not enough remoulade on top. Crab Cake Platter - Not lump crab meat and very dry and almost sweet. Green beans were good. French Dip Sandwich - Was served luke-warm, not hot, so the cheese had settled into a hard blanket on top of my sandwich. The horsradish cream was pretty good, but I had to ask for more because there wasn't much on the sandwich. Black & Blue Burger - Pretty good, no complaints there. Service was slow and not very attentive. Waiter tried his best to hide his irritation with requests for napkins, drink refills, horseradish cream sauce, etc..Overall, this place is nothing special. I would much rather go down the block to The Eat Spot.

Wish I could report greatness. Been 4 times, first 3 pretty good aside from noise level (very loud upstairs). This time the BBQ brisket was very fatty, salad wilted, mashed potatoes blah. Others in our party enjoyed the fish and chips. Fried green tomatoes are consistently delicious. Been to a wedding reception here on 3rd floor, absolutely lovely.

Went there when I first moved to Wilmington and has always been a great place. The downtown area is great and can get crowded at times but never disappointed there.

Staff was attentive and food was a 4 star experience for a brewery. We would be regulars if it was not such a pain to park in downtown Wilmington.

We love this restaurant; it is the first place we chose when looking at potential home sites in the Wilmington area, and we frequently go back as we try other restaurants now that we live here. The food is excellent, the beer is always good, and the service is excellent.

Awesome food and plenty of different brews to try. Highly recommend this place! I only gave them four stars because the bartenders were very slow. It was during an afternoon rush but it was 20 minutes before we were greeted. And then he told us we had to wait to order food, so he could check on others and their drinks. Because we had already been waiting so long, we were ready to order food and our drinks at the same time. However, four stars due to the outstanding food and great vibe. I will definitely go again!

Very awful customer service here, have tried to eat here multiple times in my many years in Wilmington and every time is even more of a disappointment and pissed of customers. Have officially started at theater community revolution to boycott this establishment for future cast parties and gatherings!!!!

Go here. 100 year old looking pub with a copper bar, carved back bar, tin ceiling tiles and a charming staff. I'd suggest a flight of their home brewed beers, then a couple pints of your favorite. I had the Elvis Pigsley app - pork and beans, breaded, served like a crab cake and fantastic. Like I said, "Go Here".

Hot damn! Beer! But before I get to that, the food - actually quite good. The wife and I came to the coast to hit the beach and have a couple of days away. Stopped in here to grab lunch and several beers. Since we're at the coast, I figured I had to order seafood. My wife thought I was crazy, but then I reminded her that she prefers the crust to the actual pizza, and she was quiet again. I ordered the Mahi meal they had. I didn't have high expectations, since, you know, this was pub fare. But I was very pleasantly surprised! The fish was moist and flavored well - definitely a great meal. And the beer - really quite good. They had 10 different brews available on draught, which is great for a local brewpub. I did quite enjoy their IPA, which was nice and fresh. My favorite, though, was their brandy barrel aged Scottish ale, which was amazing. One of the better brewpubs I've been to.

The food is good, the service is good, and the beer is good. The oak aged mosaic saison is one of the best beers I've ever had. The Scottish ale is also excellent, warm and mellow. The Kolsch was very good. There are some vegetarian options, though not a huge selection. The ambiance is nice, sort of a college town sports bar feel. I would recommend it!

Went to Front street tonight, in town due to family medical emergency. Went to school at UNCW, former bartender, cocktail and upscale restaurant waitress. Let me first say our waitress was FANTASTIC and our food was really good. My cousin ordered a bourbon "neat" at the end and his glass came back with barely a 1 ounce pour. I politely asked our waitress and she checked with the bartender, who told her a "neat" pour was a regular 1.25-1.50 ounce pour and he'd goggled it! Really??? Everyone who knows ANYTHING ABOUT bartending can tell you neat or on the rocks is a 2 ounce pour. My advice would be to enjoy the food, beer and hopefully you get our awesome waitress. Pay attention when ordering drinks. Don't get ripped off because a bartender doesn't know how to bartend!

I've been there several times and each time enjoyed some great local brew and decent pub food. It gets crowded fairly early in the evening so if you don't mind a little wait I say Cheers!

Loved the atmosphere and the service was great! New menu additions include the Ultimate Grill Cheese. 2 grilled cheese sandwiches wrapped around a 1/2 lb burger and Bacon!! My wife and I split the chicken nachos appetizer and were stuffed. Be sure to the the Beer Flight sampler. It's 5 - 5oz glasses of there beer on tap and it's only $6. Hard to beat on a hot day.
