Lunch on Thursday was our first visit here, though we eat frequently at the location on NC 66 in Kernersville. There is also a location in Martinsville, and it seems all are operated by members of the same family - this one and the one in Kernersville are run by brothers, and while they are similar, there are differences, as well. This location is a little less "upscale", has a somewhat smaller menu (no oysters on the half shell, no calamari app, no shrimp & grits, etc) and does not serve alcohol. They offer a few salads, a steak or 2, burgers and a few sandwiches, but the seafood, fried and broiled is the focus here - and they do a pretty good job of it. The Thursday daily special of Popcorn Shrimp & Whitefish ($6.50) was a very nice size, and came with slaw, HPs, and FFs. The Popcorn Shrimp was excellent - great flavor, well fried - the Whitefish was good, but not great - slightly overcooked. Slaw & FFs were very good, and the Hushpuppies are super. The Oyster & Clamstrip Combo ($8.50) was also of a nice size. The Oysters were excellent, but the Clamstrips were also overcooked, and tough. We also shared a Garden Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing ($2.95) which was very good, very nice dressing. Overall a nice experience - great friendly service - and the food was pretty good, but a couple of items were overcooked. This location is not quite up to the one in Kernersville, but has some good things to offer.
