According to our waitress, the Golden Galleon opened in May 2013, and is owned by a local couple, 77 and 83. Found this article on the place starnewsonline.com/artic… . Owners are 77 and 83 and entrepreneurs their whole lives. Had to try it. My husband had the special, chicken and pastry (chicken and dumplings), with a side of mashed potatoes with white gravy. I had a seafood plate of fried fish and shrimp with sides of mashed potatoes and collards. Husband didn't care for the chicken and pastry but my fried flounder and shrimp were perfect. Potatoes were whipped smooth and collards specked with pieces of ham. The place was spotless, comfortable, and no wait. Comfy booths and few very large ones for big parties. Bill for these two meals, drinks (Pepsi products) and hush puppies (complementary) was $25. We also looked at their breakfast menu. 2 eggs, grits or hash browns, biscuit, country ham, $6.20. Egg, biscuit and gravy, $3.75. Truly a bargain for the beach. Honest and simple food, well-prepared. Hope they do well so we can go back next year.
