This was a great spot to find, especially since it wasn't a recommendation on my iMaps?? I had an appetizer and a few cocktails for an evening work session on my laptop. Perfect place for it. Though I was tempted by the half price bottles of Italian wine. Friendly customers to make friends with, great service, even better cocktails, I had a Pimm's cup, and a mandarin sunrise plus their goat cheese appetizer that was the equivalent of comfort food. It was perfect that it was a rainy day, it needed to be cold and rainy so I could be warmed up by the food. I'll be back for entrees for sure.

Tonight was a special celebration and I'm glad that I saved Lulu & Blu for my friend's last night in High Point. We had an excellent meal and I was very happy with our waiter (Gabe) who was personable and professional but not intrusive in any way. Lamb shank melts in your mouth and the vegetables served with were superb. Lemontini martini was as good as any I've ever had and the lemon tart would be my choice next time I eat there (which will be soon).

Let me start by saying, this place is worth trying for yourself. I personally did not find anything whimsical about it, but they could have just been having an off night. The ambiance of the Lulu and Blu is quite lovely. The centerpiece of the restaurant is a glass encased wine cellar, which is very neat and original in my opinion. The colors of this new establishment are also pleasing, and set you up to have a relaxing dinner. That's about all I have for the positive bit of the review; now unfortunately on to the bad. The service was a bit lacking. It seemed they were out of several items from the bar. My dad ordered a Moscow Mule, which they didn't have, and then a Sam Adams, which they came back and said they seemed to be out of. All of the other tables got bread at the table after a few minutes of being seated, and we had to ask for it after our entrees had arrived. Once the bread arrived, I have to say it was quite delicious. The servers all seemed a bit shy and reserved, giving the air that they were lacking in service experience. The entree choices were all quite interesting, ranging from great to disappointing. I ordered the Linguine Vongale, also known as clams over linguine. The flavor was on point, and they gave me a good amount of clams, but there were several pieces of shell left in the pasta, which I kept biting down on as I consumed my dish. Overall, not very appealing. My sister ordered the Carbonara, which definitely won best dish at the table. It was well portioned and delightful! My father ordered the Seafood Bucatani which, of course, I had to try. It was entirely too fishy for my taste, but he seemed to enjoy it. My mother ordered the Short Rib Flatbread, which turned out to be more pizza toppings on a thin cracker. The flavor of the ingredients themselves were good, but the "flatbread" was a tad too flat. Overall, I wouldn't say this place is bad, but if you're going to charge $15-$30 a plate, you may want to reevaluate your service and attention to detail. Please try it for yourself to decide!

Oh my! That is all I have to say. It is a must!! I had the Braised Short Ribs Pappardelle and it was beautiful. Sauce was just right, ribs were fork tender and not stringy. My dining partners had Pasta Carbonara and Bolognese. Needless to say there was very little conversation while we were eating, just OH MY!

Very trendy atmosphere and wonderful cocktails. We were a party of five and don't think we would have gotten in without reservations. Special was lobster, artichoke & asparagus in vodka sauce over buccatelli. Good but not something I'd order again. Also had seafood bucatelli in a wonderful broth. Pasta carbonara was excellent and so was the butternut ravioli with duck confit. Would love to go back!

This is a hidden gem. The only problem is that when you find it, you may think it's not open. Windows are dark and signage is minimal. Nothing minimal about the decor or food. Very intimate but hip feeling in both the bar & tables. The food was outstanding! Loved the olives appetizer and the house salad. He had the seafood risotto special that was superb. I had the short ribs & pappardelle but since I don't Ike fava beans spinach was substituted. Awesome! This place should be jammed all the time but the night we went we were seated right away. As I said, a hidden gem.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
