But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. One of the only good Mexican restaurants in town, but could use a little improvement. Their salsa and cheese dip are great, but I frequently get burned or stale chips. Pina Coladas are typically a little watery for my taste and they don't always put whipped cream on it as I like. Their chicken quesadilla is always great. The only Mexican restaurant in town that doesn't smother it in oil and grease and actually make the tortilla crispy as I request. I have also gotten a couple of fajitas and been very satisfied. The service is never awesome, but they make sure you're not out of any drink. You may have to hunt someone down if you need a box or a check. Overall this place has pretty good food, but the service and alcoholic beverages are subpar. However, this is my Mexican restaurant of choice in town.

The food and experience can vary, as another user has pointed out so it varies depending on when you come in and the server. The food has generally been good for us and we've had good servers and servers who seemed to rush us a bit. I want to come back sometime and try their margaritas. I've heard they are pretty good.

Dined here one night at the suggestion of a friend. Overall impressions: pretty good. Like many other Mexican places, the menu is absolutely massive. English was unfortunately not our server's first language, and he struggled to answer any questions or provide suggestions. I settled on the Grande Special: an enchilada, a burrito, a chalupa, a crunchy taco, and a chile relleno. Choose between ground beef or chicken for most entrees. I asked if there was a way to upgrade to steak, and they don't have that option. The chips and salsa were very good. It never bodes well for a Mexican restaurant if the house salsa sucks. As pleased as I was to have good salsa, I was not pleased with the time it took to get our entrees. I was almost stuffed on chips and salsa when our entrees finally arrived. I didn't pay attention to how long it took for the entrees to come out, but the plates were ridiculously hot (having sat under the heat lamp for a long time), and the taco shell and chalupa shell (non-Taco Bell chalupas are similar to tostadas) were very soggy. Any place that cares would've readily replaced the taco and chalupa shells if they noticed that the food sat under the heat lamp for a long time. The various items all tasted pretty good, but nothing blew me away. If you've had Mexican food from a non-chain type of place, you've had the food at Mi Cabaña. 3 stars - Mi Cabaña's a fairly average Mexican restaurant. The food here was pretty good, the service, less so. It's far from greatness, but there certainly are worse options out there.

I've been going to mi cabana for years and have never had anything but a great experience. Today, I went for lunch and ordered the taco salad- it came out looking like soup in a very undercooked, soggy and chewy taco shell bowl. I've been a server for years, so I never complain but this was in edible. When I told the server my complaints he couldn't have cared less. He only took 1/2 off of my meal that I had no more then 2 bites of. Very rude service- and on top of that, the owner was right there and didn't have the philosophy of "the customer is always right." Will never go back to that mi cabana. Stick to the one near the hospital.

Pretty decent food overall! The chips and salsa are pretty good! The service is good and the food comes out pretty quickly. I've been there several times and have been very happy with the food, staff and price of the food.
