We had not been at a Long John Silver's in probably at least 8 years. We arrived just before supper 'rush' on a Friday, so it was not busy yet. The young man who took our order was extremely friendly and helpful. I was a bit disappointed that they did not have a special that the corporate website was advertising, but he suggested that I order 2 of their $1.99 snacks (2 pieces of pollock, hushpuppies and 1 side) and get a different side with each snack - that actually came out to be a bit less $ than the 'special' (and larger portions!). The only reason I gave only 4 stars is that the fish coating, while sooo good & crunchy & tasty, was really over-the-top salty - and this comes from a self-proclaimed saltaholic. It may have just been an off-day with the batter, so don't base your decision solely on that. Condiments were available at self-serve station, but be sure to check what you're getting - the cocktail sauce wasn't well-labelled, and was nearly used for ketchup! ;) The drinks are self serve Coke, from the new machines that Coke is really pushing - the kind that give you so many options, you can stand there star-struck for 5 min. deciding. We don't care for that machine, because no matter what flavor you select, you get 'the last person's selection' until the lines clear out. If you remember to let it run for a second before you put your glass under the nozzle, it may not be too bad, but if you forget, your drink tastes like what we used to call 'Swamp Water' (all flavors mixed). But, that is really neither here nor there when considering the food - you can always opt for an ice cup. The decor was the typical upgraded Taco Bell-type look, with some abstract coastal theme artwork. The tables and chairs were comfy and clean - didn't sit at a booth. Everywhere that we saw of the building was clean and well kept-up.
