I would not recommend this restaurant...since I will never go there again. We ordered what I was hoping to be a great meal from the crowds of people I have seen in there when we drove by. The service was good....food...not so much. The toast was lukewarm like it had been sitting out, grits had started turning solid around the edges so no go for them. I tried the eggs and pulled out a hair long enough to wrap around my finger...and still be in the eggs like it was scrambled in there. I returned my plate to the waitress and showed her the hair and told her the problems with the rest of the plate. I declined her offer of anything else. At the checkout counter we explained the problem to the lady taking our money. She said she already knew about it and all we had to pay for was the other breakfast. In an act of good will I would have thought she would have said she was sorry and hoped that we would come back again...maybe even telling us we did not have to pay for my husbands breakfast. They lost us as customers since we will not be back.

Best country style steak, hands down. Fried green beans were to die for as well. The staff are all so sweet and it's my daughters favorite place to eat in Cherryville. Their breakfast is always on point too!

Probably one of the best restaurants in the area. Best fried chicken anywhere! Get the daily special.

located in beautiful downtown Cherryville, this is a country cooking gem of a restaurant. If you like fried chicken and fresh local grown veggies, this is your place. They've been keeping it real in Cherryville for nearly 40 years. It's smalltown America at it's finest, you won't be disappointed. If you ask for iced tea, it's gonna be sweet, this is the South. You get an entree and 3 veggies for $6.00. The best fried okra in the County, only my Grandmother's was better. For some local flavor, you enjoy the sports wall of fame with local high school, college and pro sports figures. Charlie 'Choo Choo' Justice, Jack Tatum & Tony Cloninger to name a few.

Fantastic little country cooking establishment! I eat there roughly once a week! Cheeseburgers are pretty good but the special of the day is usually the way to go!!!!
We've eaten here twice, during breakfast hours. Both times, I got the ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and toast. The size of the omelet was rather skimpy in size, but tasted ok. It would taste better if they used real shredded cheddar instead of the processed imitation singles. The hash browns are identical to the ones you get at McDonald's, except these were way greasier. The toast was your run of the mill toast. It wasn't burnt so I was happy with it. Overall, it was reasonably priced. I do plan to return sometime for lunch and/or dinner. Hopefully then I can give a more favorable review.

In a 2009 review, one of the other reviewers noted that a meat and three was $6.00. In 2014 that has climbed to $7.50, which is still more than reasonable. Most places don't even provide three side items for the price anymore. This is an old, small town diner, that seems to be beloved by the community at large. Street View: yelp.com/biz_photos/home… Décor: yelp.com/biz_photos/home… I noticed that the restaurant is entirely run by women, ranging in age from their thirties to septuagenarians holding down the front of the house. The special of the day was fried chicken, to which I am allergic. It looked very appetizing on other diners' plates. Southern Fried Chicken: yelp.com/biz_photos/home… COUNTRY STYLE STEAK: 3/5. I was expecting tenderized round steak, but, well, see the photo to judge for yourself. I was a little put off by the initial appearance, but the taste was okay and the meat was tender. That's really all that I require in a country style steak, although I do prefer brown gravy. yelp.com/biz_photos/home… MASHED POTATOES: 3.5/5. Clearly homemade and very tasty. WHITE MILK GRAVY: 3/5. The type of gravy that is served in the South with gravy and biscuits. It needed salt and pepper, but then again, so did everything. FRIED OKRA: 4/5. I ordered this based on Jon L.'s recommendation, and because I love fried okra. He didn't steer me wrong, because this was perhaps the best thing on the table. SQUASH CASSEROLE: 3/5. A weird dish. It wasn't what I was expecting, because there were great big chunks of cooked yellow squash and just a little breading, but I polished it off anyway. BREAD ROLLS: 2.5/5. Standard, out of the bag, warm rolls. SWEET TEA: 5/5. Yes, this was extremely good Southern sweet tea, and it wasn't overly sweet. In fact, whoever made this beverage knew what they were doing, because the sweetness level was just right. I lost count after three glasses. I probably will be up past midnight from the caffeine. Sweet Tea w/pellet ice. yelp.com/biz_photos/home… FOOD NOTE: The food was not well seasoned. EVERYTHING on the plate, with the exception of the rolls, needed a generous application of salt and pepper. SERVICE / FRIENDLINESS: 4/5. I waited about five minutes for the elderly waitress to approach my table with the menu. She was at least seventy-five, and while she was courteous - friendly would not be an adjective that I would use. She was efficient, she got my order correct, and she brought my food in under TWO minutes, so all in all, I was satisfied. The older lady at the register was all business, and not much for pleasantries. (Please pardon my observations, I'm sure that all of these women are nice, good people. LOL) SANITATION: 4/5. Ratings from August of 2012 until December 2014, have ranged from 94.0 to 97.5, which is perfectly acceptable. PRICE: 3.75/5. My total bill was $8.08. For all the food that I ate, that was a bargain. Cheque: yelp.com/biz_photos/home… PS: Slices of chocolate, coconut, or pumpkin pie were only $2.25 each.
