What a great place for some yummy BBQ! I hat chicken and baby back ribs and it was great. My husband had spare ribs and brisket and enjoyed the meal as well. They also have a kid's menu. Awesome waitress!

We've definitely had much better food than this...too bad! The brisket was tender (a plus!) but it was seriously lacking in flavor. It seemed there wasn't even salt. Meh. Pork ribs were just okay, not falling off the bone either. Double meh. My toddler seemed to enjoy the bean stew and the green beans (although, obviously from a can). The potato salad initially seemed to have some good flavor, but very quickly we were all overwhelmed with the amount of mayonnaise, just way too creamy. Seeing all the other rave reviews I wonder if we just ordered everything completely wrong on the menu, but I doubt the other items could be a ton better. There are so many bbq places in the area that I think we'll try other spots before coming back here.

Excellent service and portion sizes. I love that everything is pre prepped so we only beeded to wait like 5 minutes for our food on a friday night. We each irdered 2 meat dinners the turkey, brisket, ribs and pork. The turkey was moist and tender and the pork was super flavorful. Spareribs were also cooked perfectly. Would definitely return for these, but our brisket was too dry and not anything special. As far as sauces, we liked the mustard based and spicy one more than the popular sweet one.

Danny's BBQ is out of this world! The beef brisket is always succulent and the Potatoe Salad is consumed and then order a take out container for late night snack! Very friendly staff, line can be long at lunch but zero wait time on food helps this venue plow thru the line.

WOWIE. The pulled pork was off the wall. Absolutely amazing. So tender, succulent, juicy, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth-able. The pulled pork is served on Texas toast and it is simply a home run. North Carolina BBQ is vinegar-based, but where Yelper Ben Y. and I are from (up north), BBQ is barbeque-sauce based. Danny's agrees with us, so their BBQ was more in the style of what we are used to, and it was INCREDIBLE. Being in NC, Ben and I wanted to try all the BBQ pork we could, and Danny's definitely had the best. The sandwich came with fries and I also ordered a side of coleslaw which was really good. But WOW I can't stop dreaming about the pork. The barbeque sauce was so good that Ben and I both bought a bottle of it to bring home with us. Amaaaazing.

The service here is horrible. I really wanted to like this place as a first-timer. Barbecue is one of my favorite dishes! From the moment we sat down, we felt completely unwelcome. The hostess was nice, but our waitress was the rudest I've ever experienced. She truly hates her job and life in general. We ordered water to start with and she rolled her eyes. Not sure how we offended her so deeply within our first minute of arrival. It just went downhill from there as she made a point to ignore us. When she dropped our food off, she couldn't get away fast enough, so we were unable to ask for anything we needed. Once she was near our table again (right next to it, actually), we asked for a refill on water. She walked away, so we assumed she didn't hear us. Fifteen minutes later, she reappeared and asked "did you ask for something earlier?" What!?!? If you heard us 15 minutes ago, why would it take so long to come back and ask if we were were trying to get something?!?! So, we finally asked for water again and she came back with it. Again, she absolutely did not want to be near our table...she reached over my boyfriends shoulder as far as she could with the glass of water. She wasn't even looking and put his glass in his bowl of beans. He caught it from spilling everywhere. I just don't understand why she couldn't spare the extra two seconds to walk around to our table and give us the water appropriately. The restaurant was completely dead, so she wasn't busy. She treated our table as if we had the plague. Any time we needed something (which wasn't a lot), we had to get up and ask the hostess. I noticed that the other table our waitress was serving had to do the same. Not once did our waitress smile or make us feel welcome. I thought the food was decent...not the best, but good. Not good enough for me to want to come back and experience that. Especially upon leaving, I witnessed how the kitchen prepares the ribs (which is what I typically order at barbecue joints). To me, it's completely unacceptable to throw ribs in plastic wrap and nuke them. That was the topping on the cake! Never again...Danny's is the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant and I am not a hard person to please. I am typically overly forgiving and tip at least 20% or more, no matter what. I just couldn't do it this time...the worst all-around!

When any one talks about great barbecue in the Triangle it's always the Pit blah blah blah. For my money Danny's is as good as any. It is low on ambience - very modest in a down home kinda way, and it is tucked away in a nondescript strip mall next to Wake Med Cary but the food is outstanding and the people are wonderful. Fantastic, fast no-nonsense service. Pork, brisket, chicken, turkey, are all great with all the sauces you'd expect and great sides - collards, field peas, beans and great Texas toast. I've taken visitors from all over the world to Danny's and it never fails to impress even the most discerning palates. You will not be disappointed.

We've been coming here for about 20 years now. Danny's offers one-of-a-kind Florida-style BBQ, with awesome sauce. The pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast is my go-to, and always a hit! It's a great sit-down restaurant with relatively quick service.

Love love love this place !! BBQ is amazing and so is the turkey ! When ever family is visiting they request to eat at Danny's !

Forget the east vs. west debates -- this is simply great barbecue. Try the baked beans and finely chopped slaw as sides.

I stopped by for a quick lunch, saw a Catfish sandwich and some sides! I love BBQ, but after tasting the table side sauces? Not impressed. I am a Vinagerholic, the Eastern Vinegar version Sauce was way to sweet. The bothers were hot and Memphis/Texas style. The catfish was a frozen, breaded not good sandwich. Service was good, no complaints. May try again, but if the BBQ is as good as the so called CF? Won't go back!

Great place for quick, good bbq! Went for lunch and their pulled pork was really good. We were in and out within an hour.

Chopped pork was really good, but the beef brisket stole the show! It had a great smokey flavor, was moist and tender. The field peas were good but the collards had almost No flavor whatsoever. I wish they seasoned them with ham hock or fat back anything.

Good ole country cookin! Don't get here too often, but I love it when I do! Would be 5 stars, but not a Fan of their sweet tea.

It's very mediocre to me. I ordered the turkey breast lean platter. The salad felt small and the turkey plate was small as well. Taste was ok. It wasn't outstanding. But I felt that paying $7.50 would be better spent elsewhere.

The pork and brisket were great and the prices are reasonable. The collards and green beans lacked butter and/or bacon flavoring I expect in the south. But overall, good food and I would certainly eat there again.

It's good, it's fast, and it's priced fairly. The Brunswick stew is really exceptional. I don't care much for their green beans. The beef brisket is always cooked just right and flavored well. They have three sauces on the table and all are good. Don't leave without trying the banana pudding. This is a great place for kids, or a casual business lunch. The servers are very friendly and they know the regulars. I also love it when my company has them cater an event.

A favorite local BBQ joint. Great food and friendly service at a (very) reasonable price. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but that's part of the allure of a consistent local restaurant.

Wow! The smell gets 5 stars!! The food was sooo good. I mean really good!! Baby back ribs, pulled pork, hush puppies, Brunswick stew, all were very yummy! Seriously tho I think I had the best slice of pecan pie I've ever had!! Knocking a star off bc service is slow, we had to ask for refills and a dessert menu. Also they brought my side of hush puppies out right away as an "app" so I had to share w the table :( next time ask, so I can tell you they r just for ME! Haha. Oh and did I mention the sauces!! Soooo good.

For year's I've wanted to try Danny's but it's location tucked away off of Tryon always seemed to slip my mind. Fast forward to 2012 and a new job has brought me to Cary so yeah, it's time to hit em up! I'm not a huge fan of the location, Danny's is located in an old-school, mixed-use strip plaza. Inside it's country simple and the place is popular. Even though the decor is super basic, you have to be seated in the dining room. The menu is pretty broad, I've tried the beef brisket plate (with collards, brunswick stew) and a pork loin sandwich on Texas toast. All the food at Danny's I've tried has been decent if not memorable. Everything's definitely home-cooked but the meat isn't as well smoked as say, Big Al's. And the barbeque sauces look decent but without labels, I've got no clues whats in the bottles! Service is pretty speedy, they do a volume business here and they get you in and out quickly. Definitely a decent lunch spot given the reasonable prices but Danny's is probably not the best que in the Triangle. Think decent que at a really reasonable price. But you know what? For lunch that totally works for me, just don't have your barbeque bar set too high...

Danny's supplies easily my favorite BBQ sauce in my North Carolina tour of BBQ history. In what was easily one of the most pleasant eating experiences of my conscious life, I devoured their delicious pulled pork framed by the wonderful Texas toast buns. My Yelping companion Laura and I fell in love with their sauce so much that we bought our own to bring back to Maryland. In our barbecue excursion to North Carolina, we visited five famous places and I left this one the happiest. A fantastic staff, quaint environment, and just splendorous overall. The biggest challenge was finding this place. My Garmin GPS merely put us in the general area when we put Danny's address in it. We ended up in a parking lot for a Jiffy Lube. The Jiffy Lube employee pointed us in the right direction and even offered to less us park in one of their spots. Nice guy. Anyways, the location might be cryptic if you don't know what you are looking for, keep your head on a swivel! In the greatest of conclusions, Danny's was my favorite North Carolina BBQ joint and if I'm ever near Cary again, I shall devour their pulled pork again. For now, I sit in my Maryland dorm with the sauce by my side, reminding me what it is to be human.

I wish I was a fan of Danny's. My husband and some of his friends really like and it is close to where we live but the times I have eaten there I have been disappointed with the meat. I prefer for it to be smoky and flavorful and to not have to add a lot sauce. At Danny's I have tried the barbecue pork and the brisket and I have had a ton of sauce to both to make it appealing to eat. With the sides, the baked beans and potato salad are good. The potato salad is like a loaded baked potato salad with flavors of sour cream , chives, bacon, etc. The green beans were a disappointment - I was hoping they would have ham hock in them but they really lacked flavor or seasonings and tasted like they just came out of a can. Danny's desserts taste homemade and are worthy of 4 stars - I have enjoyed the pumpkin bread pudding, the blackberry cobbler, and the peach cobbler. Those desserts are serious comfort food and a really nice way to end the meal. Service has been good. The last time we were there they were not serving beer and were not sure if they were going to start that up again. I think the pulled pork at Lucky 32 across the street tastes a lot better than the cue at Danny's and Danny's does not come close to being as good as Allen & Son's or Lexington BBQ.

I came here because of an add in the Hampton Inn restaurant directory. It didn't hurt that they offered a discount for Hampton Inn guests. I love good barbecue and Danny's has it. I had the 2 meat combo - pork and turkey. Both were good by themselves, but the sauces were awesome as well. The waitress told me they make all the sauces in house - added plus. They had a very hot sauce, a mustard based sauce, a sweet hickory sauce, and a vinegar base sauce. I tried each sauce and have to say that they were all delicious. My favorite was the vinegar base but everyone has their own tastes. The employees were very nice and service was friendly and quick. I recommend eating here and seeing what they have to offer. I am in town for a few more days, and I will definitely be coming back.

Danny's isn't terrible, and if you're around, have the cash to swing it, and feel like some pretty good BBQ, feel free to make a stop. Sound apathetic, perhaps in that, "Gee, golly, I'll try to be positive' sort of way? I know, I know - I can't help it. It's just that I've had better BBQ at the Backyard BBQ Pit (Durham, NC), although it doesn't compare to Danny's in regard to atmosphere. And, I've had better BBQ AND atmosphere at Hillsborough BBQ (Hillsborough, NC). I guess that's generally what I'm saying: there's just better out there. Better prices, better BBQ, better atmosphere. The service was polite and helpful, although a bit slow at times due to our being at the restaurant on a Saturday (when it's SLAMMED). Prices were meh. Maybe I was just tired, hungry, and grumpy that day - I'll admit it. But, I just left with an impression of, "Wow... I just paid way too much for BBQ and food that wasn't that mind-blowing, and I'm still hungry." Because, at the end of the day, I'm just not there to fill up on our hushpuppies, people.

Great place for quick takeout. Generous portions and tastes great. I had the pork dinner and it was better than most BBQ places I've had before. The potato salad was great too! Highly recommend trying it out.

This is a GREAT lunchtime place. Pulled pork is amazing. Service is quick and food is very well priced. Delicious sides too, like fried corn and collards.

Amazing BBQ and the brisket melts in your mouth. They have really good sauces, potato salad, and banana pudding. We feed our entire platoon from here at least once a month. The service and management exceeds expectations.

This was my first time and I have lived in Cary for years.. The pulled pork was delicious, however the ribs where a little dry. The collards were soggy the slaw was tasty.. Our server was good we brought our friends here from NY to enjoy some authentic southern comfort food.. Nicely done ,

I've been meaning to try Danny's for a while now, and what better time to try when I have a $10 gift certificate in hand? Location is strange (located in what seems like an office park) but easily accessible -- right across the street from the Cary Walmart. The service was stellar and quick. Our food was out in 10 minutes after ordering! My mother-in-law and I tried the beef brisket, chopped pork, and smoked chicken wings, along with Brunswick stew, coleslaw, and collards as the sides. Unlike most BBQ places around here, Danny's serves their plates with Texas toast instead of hush puppies, so we ordered a plate of those as well (only $1.25). Each table is equipped with four bottles of housemade sauces: one mustard-based, another similar to any traditional BBQ sauce, a spicy one (maybe made with sriracha?) and a sweet vinegar sauce. We enjoyed all but the spicy one. I like that they cater to folks that may not enjoy vinegar-based BBQ as well. The food was great: I felt like I was being served a homecooked meal. The brisket and chopped pork were excellent: extremely tender and was perfect with the sauces. We did not enjoy the smoked chicken wings as we both felt they were lacking in flavor. This is a solid barbecue joint and I'll be back. I appreciated the great service, warm atmosphere, and good food. See you soon, Danny's!

We were taken here for lunch during the holidays. A little odd for a BBQ restaurant, being that it is in an office park. But it has its fan base for sure. The place was hopping on the day after Christmas. Typical mom & pop type place. Good ole fashion service. I had the small chicken plate. The chicken was moist but it was lacking some flavor. The side orders were a little disappointing as well. Overall bland was the only main impression I got. Now you ask me why I gave a 3 stars then? CHICKEN WINGS. I would come here and just eat the darn wings all day long! They are fried after being smoked, just pure goodness to the mouth! Seriously I would tell y'all to just skip everything and eat wings. Trust me.

The best Beef Brisket in Town! I visited on a Saturday afternoon after reading all of the reviews on Yelp (which I view as my Bible). First, let me say that this place is in a really weird location. It is basically in a medical office complex off Tryon Road. There is literally a doctors office next door. Unless you were specifically looking for this place, you would never find it. I ordered the Beef Brisket Dinner Platter. It came with a half-pound of perfectly cooked brisket, french fries, coleslaw, and a gigantic slice of Texas toast. Once again, the brisket was amazing. The fries were a little too "crunchy" for my taste, but they were acceptable. The coleslaw I did not care for. It was highly minced (texture issue) and was not sweet at all. My personal preference is that coleslaw, especially when served with bar-b-que, should be served extra sweet. The final bill was $12.50 plus the tip. On subsequent visits, I tried the green beans and potato salad. Green beans are very good...and the potato salad is out of this world delicious! I have no idea how they make it...but it is fantastic! After my initial few visits, I decided to use them at a corporate event for catering for 60 people. The food tastes just as good catered, as it does in their restaurant!

Good as usual. Collards didn't taste as good, but it is out of season. BBQ was a 10 of 10. We also had some ribs and they were perfect.

Prices went up and there is now one less rib on the plate. Instead of punishing your customers, maybe open on Sundays. You'll make more money and you won't alienate the people who keep you in business.

Excellent ribs and chicken! Chopped pork is good, although I've had better in the area. Service is QUICK and prices are great. Why doesn't this restaurant serve mac and cheese, though??

Chopped pulled pork plate, yes please. My dad in MI won't let me through the door without some Danny's making the trip. Great food, cheap price.

Been here a few times now, and I can confidently say this is a pretty decent place to grab some barbecue. I've now had a chance to sample almost all of the meats on the menu, and I would rate them as a whole, good to excellent. Favorites are the chopped pork and ribs. I always gravitate towards the chopped/pulled pork and ribs anywhere I go because those are my favorite cuts, and Danny's doesn't disappoint. Chop pork here is consistently moist. Ribs are flavorful with good texture. The brisket and BBQ chicken are spot-on too. Have had the brisket 3 times; one time was a tad drier than the other two, but still very good. I have to give them a strike for not having sausage on the menu. And the only thing I would pass on is the pork loin, to me the driest and blandest of the meats. Their sauces are all awesome, and you can definitely taste each of their character: Carolina style, original, mustard based, and spicy. The sides that we've had so far are good. Nothing extremely special or terrible. This includes the coleslaw, green beans, collard greens, Brunswick stew, boiled potatoes, and fries. It's disappointing that they do not have mac and cheese, as sometimes I'll crave mac n cheese with my bbq. Their Texas toast is awesome and compliments the meats well. Dessert wise, I agree with the other great reviews about the banana pudding. Customer service is the typical friendly, casual, Southern style service you would see at a family-run establishment. Ambience is casual, goes along with the service. Tables are spaced out enough so you're not on top of your neighbor, like in some other places. Value is great. They don't skimp on the portions. Men's bathroom looks rundown but it's clean. No complaints from the wife about the ladies room. There are a couple other BBQ pits in the Triangle that I would rate higher overall, but this place is a great go-to nevertheless.

We've been meaning to try this place for a long time. We drive by it all the time. We finally picked up some takeout today. The atmosphere is great; casual and comfortable. And the food is very good. We had brisket sandwiches, fries, hushpuppies and Brunswick stew. The Brunswick stew was pretty ordinary but the rest was solid. We'll definitely be going back.

Good BBQ but nothing unique or distinguishing about it. Reminds me of chain restaurant food and the portions were small compared to other BBQ restaurants. One and done.

As a California native, it's rare that I get a chance to try authentic North Carolina BBQ. I was expecting to try some traditional East Carolina (Vinegar Based) BBQ but came to Danny's where they go against the grain. I was out here in 2009 on a business trip and was brought here because it was the closest spot from our training facility. The food was great. I had the brisket and hush puppies. The meat was tender and the sauce was awesome. Some of the details have been removed from my memory because I drink a lot and this was three years ago. From what I remember, it's worth an enoore and I'll try to get back out there for something other than business.

So it's in a stripmall, so what if it's not kitchey... the chipped pork is amazing and their sweet sauce.... Mmmmmm.... Dinner plate $8.75 = 8 oz of smokey small chipped pork 8oz with two sides ( I got 3: slaw, baked beans and green beans +$1.25) and Texas toast all on one of those three segment pressed plastic plates... I bought 5 lbs of meat and dragged it on the plane to LGA screaming at TSA "you can't have my BBQ, bitches!!!" They couldn't catch me and now i have a couple months of love in the freezer.. the end...

I think I've been spoiled by all the very very old barbecue establishments near Lexington, NC. Danny's isn't bad, don't get me wrong. It will suffice. The location was hard to find, and my GPS led me in circles for quite awhile until I spotted the restaurant from Tryon Rd. It's located in a strip mall that houses everything from medical facilities to a pet hospital and a church. Danny's looks like it was renovated recently, or maybe it's a new place, I don't even know. But it looks good inside. It's decorated very simply, and it's clean and sanitary. Everything is cheap. We had a $10 coupon from when we moved to Cary, so our total bill was $5.32 lol! My husband and I ordered chopped pork plates and we got chicken and fries for our daughter. I got fries and green beans with my plate and my husband got brunswick stew and potato salad. My husband said the potato salad was strange, he said it was made with sour cream instead of mayonnaise. I didn't try it, so I don't know if that is true. They had four different kinds of sauces to put on the barbecue. One was a Kansas style sweet, thick sauce. It was good, but was lacking some acid or something. It didn't taste like much of anything after I mixed it with my chopped pork. There was a mustard sauce, which I haven't seen before and was actually quite good. There was also a spicy sauce that burned a couple taste buds off. There was also straight vinegar, I added that to the Kansas style sauce. It's not something I'll be screaming and jumping and praising and preaching about, but it wasn't bad at all. Just very mediocre for a barbecue place. It'll suffice. That'll do pig. That'll do.

When the internal audit folks come to town, one finds out their likes and dislikes and try to accommodate with an inexpensive lunch at a place one might think they would enjoy. When the last group of auditors came by to visit, Danny's was one of the places we took them. The slaw was very good and the beef brisket sandwich was pretty tasty. The service was okay, not great, but decent enough. There must be something about NC in relation to hot sauce. I cannot seem to find a hot sauce that packs any amount of heat at places like Danny's (and other places). I'd come back if I was to be in the area.

We tried Danny's last weekend for the first time and we'll definitely be repeat customers. The chopped pork was very good and I was a big fan of the sweet BBQ sauce (there were other options as well, a spicier sauce, one that seemed very vinegary and one that appeared to be mustard based). Hushpuppies were hot, came with butter...and cheap! We were totally impressed at the amount of food we got for the price. That's what I like to see! We both got "fried corn" with our meals, which we'd never tried. It was DELISH. French fries were also hot, crispy and satisfying. The place was busy, lots of families. There's a closer (Morrisville) location, so we may try that one as well, but the Cary spot is definitely a keeper.

Raised in Eastern North Carolina I would have told you that there is only one kind of bbq. Chopped pork with a vinegar based sauce. Danny's changed my mind. I love the smoked chopped pork. Then adding sauce to it after. I do believe they also have the best brunswick stew in town.

Carolina BBQ at its finest. The brisket, wings, pork shoulder, and sides were all unbelievable and everything was hot and done to perfection. Prices were extremely fair for the quality and portions you get. If you want BBQ around the triangle, THIS is the place to go.

Tried and true BBQ in Cary. We've visited Danny's probably 10-12 times per year for many years. The food is always good, the service prompt and friendly, and the prices reasonable. As may have mentioned, this is not NC BBQ, its Florida BBQ and its good. One of the things you should try that's often overlooked is the smoked turkey breast. Always moist with a nice smoke ring and great flavor. In fact we've had the Danny's smoked whole turkeys at a few Thanksgiving dinners. Enjoy!

Like most "Southerners," I enjoy a good bbq sandwich occcasionally. Danny's BBQ is usually pretty crowded, but tonight was an off-night for them. We were seated immediately, orders taken, and food out within 8 minutes. All of us ordered beef brisket sandwiches. The meat was tender, sauce was good, although I wish they had labels on the bottles to show what the contents are... Their coleslaw is the BEST in the area. I could eat just the slaw and remain perfectly happy. My son ordered a brownie, and it came out warm, and a good hunk I might add. We enjoy this restaurant occasionally. Not a bad place to eat, and the prices are not bad either.

Have you ever seen a pig, smiling and squirting BBQ sauce on itself? I have. It's Danny's logo. Danny's was founded in response to those that dislike vinegar-based BBQ (also known as Eastern Carolina style). I've never taken sides on the issue because I find both western (ketchup-based) and eastern styles to be delicious. Danny's lets you choose your sauce though: sweet (aka Danny's signature "High on the Hog" sauce), spicy, mustard, and vinegar. I tend to stick to the sweet and spicy sauces, but I haven't found a great home for the mustard sauce. It looks like other Yelpers recommend it on chicken. The vinegar sauce usually sits there sad and lonely on my table--it feels like I'm committing some kind of sin if I use it. It's like wearing a Yankees hat in Fenway Park when the Yankees aren't even playing.... you can do it if you want, but you're out of place. What should you order here? Bar-b-que plate. Get a bar-b-que dinner if you're really hungry, but a plate should be about the max for most people. I've eaten the brisket and chopped BBQ plates. For sides, I usually go with the traditional baked beans and cole slaw. Potato salad sometimes makes the cut. If you're with a group, get some corn nuggets, fried okra, or hush puppies to share. You'll find those in the "other favorites" section of the menu. Finish your meal with a banana pudding if there's still room. This is one my favorites for lunch and it does tend to get busy here around noon. Service is usually pretty good. I was really impressed on my last visit because my whole table was served in the blink of an eye. Danny's also has locations in Morrisville and RTP, so you should probably pick one that's closer to you.

If you are a fan of Sonny's BBQ in Florida, you will love Danny's! It's not traditional NC BBQ, the vinegar based style, so if you are expecting that you will be disappointed. The meat is slow cooked to perfection. Topped with the sweet smoky BBQ sauce - it's just like being in FL. The side dishes are all perfect. Love their coleslaw - it doesn't have onions and is creamy and delicious. The corn nuggets are awesome too. The Cary location, near the hospital can be hard to find, tucked into what looks like an industrial/office park. The food is very reasonably priced and the staff is super friendly.

Stopped in for lunch while I was in town last weekend. What a great lunch! The staff was super friendly and the food was served so quickly I couldn't believe it. The restaurant is really cute. Location was a bit confusing for my GPS to find, since it was in an office complex area, but please don't let that discourage anyone from going to Danny's. It was delicious!!!

Great food and very friendly service. I'm not used to being called honey ( being from up north) but with BBQ that good you get used to it. Servings were perfect size so that I don't go staggering out the door in a dazed stupor. definately go back if I am ever in the neighborhood.

My trip to Danny's was enjoyable. Not great, but OK. To start with, it was some of the worst sweet tea I've had in North Carolina. It wasn't very sweet and had that bitter taste tea gets when it's steeped too long. Not a great start. Then, to my surprise, I had to order hushpuppies. They didn't come with the meal. Gasp! I think that might be a sin in some portions of our state. They were yummy, though. I'm extra glad I did because I didn't enjoy the Texas toast. It wasn't really toasted and had almost no butter. So now I've complained enough that you're probably wondering why I gave Danny's 3 stars. The reason is the barbeque itself. It was quite tasty. Tender and juicy. I was pleasantly surprised by the vinegar sauce on the table. It had an unexpected sweetness that I really enjoyed. If I do come back, I'll probably try some of the sides other Yelpers recommended (I didn't love the potato salad I ordered). Or maybe I'll just get some of their delicious pork barbeque and take it home to eat!

There are two things I would like to highlight about Danny's BBQ-- First, the actual barbeque comes to the table unsauced so that you can sauce it yourself with one of their sauces. They have multiple ones on the table to choose form, I believe the count is six. These range from vinegar base, ketchup base, and mustard base to mild and hot. This is a good thing in my opinion, not a bad. The second is that they do not have fried chicken at Danny's BBQ. I was quite surprised at this! I have never had an unpleasant experience at Danny's. I would suggest trying their hushpuppies as well, they are always good and hot! This is the best "Yankee owned" BBQ place in the area and the only one my girlfriend and I can agree on. (She is from NY, so she likes Ketchup base, I am from NC, I prefer Vinegar base).

I was skeptical because I'd had bbq in North Carolina once before and I thought it was weird, but I was assured that this was not traditional Carolina bbq. (The menu explains where they came up with their special approach to bbq). Everyone in my group tried different kinds of meats, and everyone was happy, and I have to agree with Marcel K.- the meats are moist and the sides are excellent. I loved the mustard sauce on the chicken. I didn't try the baked beans because I hate them but the boys were raving about them. The fries were perfect and the potato salad was the best I've ever had. I'm not a huge potato salad eater because eggs and mayo aren't my favorite things, and this potato salad was red-skinned and light tasting, not eggy or heavy at all. The next time I'm in the Triangle, I'm definitely going there. The service was great, although it was uncharacteristically slow when we were there, and our server didn't make me feel like a pain in the neck when I ordered my tea half-and-half. (I'm a northerner and sweet tea is too much for me). Good stuff!

My first ever visit to NC and I need to try BBQ. I mean when you hear NC, you think inexpensive cigs (I don't smoke), friendly people and great BBQ. So for lunch I opted for this place since it was close to my office. Since a bunch of us went it gave me an opty to sample a few apps and definitely try the pulled pork. I sampled the corn nuggets (yum), fried okra (eh) and wing basket (average). Then the real deal came out. I had the pork (to me it's pulled pork) on Texas toast. Don't expect a large size sandwich. Average and it took me about 30 seconds to down it. Their prices are good and the service is friendly, quick and attentive. I will be returning to try some of their other offers. ENJOY!

Hands down the BEST barbecue in the Triangle I've had. This is that special place to take an out of towner looking for great barbecue in N.C. Go there. Lather on the native vinegar style sauce on your pulled, smokey pork and then dollop on the red sauce. Awesome.

I once had a boyfriend named Danny, my first "real" one in fact. Just like Danny's, Danny wasn't much to look at, he was bug eyed and rather lanky in fact, but after our first date he grew on me and eventually won me over. Woodsy, smoky - it needn't much more, and I'm talking him and the chicken. I ordered 1/4 plate of white chicken with sides of Brunswick stew and fries with Texas toast for $6.49 (can't beat that). I didn't expect much, but wow. The meat was beautifully delicious in its simplicity. Sure I got the hickory bbq sauce to the side, but the meat was so flavorful, the sauce wasn't really needed. I reckon Danny's Bar-B-Que and I will have a 2nd go at it eventually. Note: the aforementioned bf Danny and I dated on and off for a year and a half in high school. He now resides in Sacramento, Ca and we are Facebook friends.

I'd love to give this one 4.5, but again...no half stars available. I'd give it a five, but it's a bit small, cramped, and needs some updating on decor and remodeling. But who cares about all of that when you are stuffing your face full of some of the best BBQ I've ever had? Being a Texan, I'm always leery of places that say they served BBQ anywhere in the Carolinas. I've been burned time and again. Not a fan of pulled pork with vinegar, potato salad with saurkraut or sugar in it, and not having beef on the menu. This place HAS BEEF! Oh my goodness, and delicious beef it is. Sliced with almost no fat, amazing smoky bark, and sooooo much! I also tried the chopped pork, being brave, as I could choose my own sauce. And I LOVED it. I could add a little sweet sauce, a lot of hot sauce, then a touch of mustard, to suit my own tastes. My younger dining partner had the ribs. He didn't say much, but occasionally I heard a "mmm" from him. The older dining partner, my sweetie, and BBQ conneseuir (sp??) said it was the best BBQ he's had since we left Texas. I personally think it's better than any I've had in Texas. The potato salad has this creaminess to it that's hard to describe, really amazing contrast to the spicy heat of the BBQ sauce. The baked beans are utterly amazing. I understand the comment one yelper made about making a meal just off the beans. A hint of molasses, a bit of spicy heat, and sooo good. Unfortunately, I didn't read yelp before dining here, or I would have tried the hush puppies. Next time, and believe me, there will be a next time, I will. I was unimpressed with the Texas toast. It was a bit dry, and if ya'll can't Paula Deen butter it, then just forget it. But edible slathered in BBQ. Literally an old shoe was taste good with their sauce on it. But the toast is great for sopping up the yumminess left on your plate. I choose the 2 meats plate, and had plenty to bring home for leftovers. Sweetie had the 3 meat, and didn't leave hardly a drop. My youngest diner also finished all of his ribs. I love the fact that Carolinians can get their BBQ with pulled pork and vinegar, and in the same place, the rest of us can also enjoy our version of BBQ. There tea is really good too. A bit strong, but I love it that way. I drink unsweetened, so I couldn't say if it was too sweet. But most southerners, Texas included, love their tea super sweet. We were all too full to try the desserts, but Sweetie took a brownie home and had it later. He said it was really good. I'm looking forward to lunch leftovers. :)

We were eight Yankees, looking for some good BBQ. We liked that Danny's has a variety of BBQ sauces on the table, rather than serving the meat pre-sauced. My spare ribs were moist, tender and delicious and everybody else liked their dinners, too. The creamed corn fritters and hush puppies that we started with were also fresh and tasty, and not greasy. Cole slaw and baked beans were my favorite sides, of the several I tried. But - the best part by far and the reason I am happily giving this a 5-star review was our server, Mallory. She was friendly and smart and kind, and patient with our somewhat rowdy group. I can not imagine getting better service anywhere. Mallory, you are the best!

I'm looking at these other reviews and wondering did I eat at the same place?. Well the name and address match so I guess so, but my low rating does not match. I come to Cary about once a year to visit friends and out of the half dozen or so BBQ places I've now been this was the worse. The service was poor, took us about 10 minutes to be seated despite 2 or 3 staff members standing no more then 10 feet from us with looks of boredom. One actaully looked at us and turned away. When someone finally came to seat us all she said was "two" took us to a table set the menus down and walked away. Took about 10 minutes to have some come to our table to take our order and I'll admit she was friendly but after taking our order and serving it that was all we saw of her until we asked for a go cup upon leaving. The food when it arrived was a disappointment to say the least. I ordered the 8 slices of pork loin, baked beans and 1/2 of a corn on the cob fried. They must have real small corn in NC because if I was to say it was 2" I'd be stretching it. The baked beans were good, but the pork itself was without sauce, looked and tasted like something I get at a deli I covered it in BBQ sauce (there were four plastic bottles to chose from but none of them had labels or writing to give me a clue what it was and the once I chose it was less tastier then "Open Pit". N wife picked up a second bottle but it looked watery My wife had a quarter chicken that also came without sauce and it was dry. She did not like the beans but did like the potato salad. Our "Texas Toast" was toasted on only one side, and cold, no butter. I told my wife I can do better at home There was a kid at the table next to us that had the ribs and they did look tastier then my pork loin but I'll never know but because this was such a disappointment I'll never venture to Danny's again even for a second try but others seemed to enjoy so it could very well be just me

Never had a bad meal here. I used to live in Raleigh, and have been eating here since it was in a strip mall across from Cary Town Center (1988, 89?). If you're looking for NC Style barbecue (yes, there are different styles), keep driving. I can get NC style at tons of places. The meats here are smoked, and choices range from Brisket, Ribs, Chicken, Turkey, or Pulled Pork. The potato salad and Brunswick Stew are excellent (yes, the potato salad is made with either ranch dressing or sour cream, and has dill in it). One of the best potato salads I've ever eaten. Highly recommend. Entrance is by Wake Med Cary Hospital, then cut through the back of O'Charleys to get here...it's easy to find once you go. Once you come here once, you'll be back many times.

Best bbq in the Raleigh area. Ribs are awsome. All the food is great. This is not Eastern NC bbq.

This place is an old favorite and well visited at lunch time by the locals. The food is unique and the service is generally very good. The Pork Sandwich on Texas Toast is good as is the beef biscuit. Some of my coworkers have commented that you leave smelling like a smoke house, but that is fine with me! For a nice southern touch, try the banana pudding it is awesome.

We started going to Danny's at the original Cary location, and although we moved out of state, we would always visit when in the area. We've moved back now and it's the only BBQ I'll eat in eastern NC. I've tried several of the vinegar based bbq sauces and I believe they would be great on a salad, but not on meat. Danny does it right. Hickory smoked, choice of sauces, brisket , pork (chopped not mangled), lots of great sides. We asked him last time in, if any chance of opening up one in North Raleigh or Wake Forest. Sorry to say, not likely, he's retiring soon, has 3 children and 3 restaurants, it comes out even, but means monthly (at least) trips to one of the 3 Danny's locales. Now, if I can just find a good Mexican restaurant.

This was fantastic! I had the chopped pork, cole slaw, and potato salad. Amazing service! A must try.

The brisket is wonderful but a tiny tad dry [vinegar helped fix that] but worth getting again. I like that they offer 4 sauces. The medium score is because the potato salad was very bland. I had expected much better based on tips & reviews here. I don't think they use mayonnaise - tasted like bulk fake stuff to me. I think ordering meat by the pound is the best way to go. Fake spread was offered with the fried corn - unhealthier than butter, I think. But I guess that's what you get - it's a one $ establishment. Stick with the meats!

The best BBQ place I have been too. Great food and great people. This place is small and tucked away in a medical office park near Western Wake Hospital which has 2 important advantages in natural disasters, 1, very few people "relatively" know it's there, and 2, it's on a hospital grid which gets priority when they are restoring power grids. Went there when we had a big ice storm that shut NC down for a week or two the day after the storm and they were open and serving hot fresh food.

i eat here all the time and the quality is good and solid if not overly exciting. the pulled pork is really good. Very good actually. Likewise for the smoked turkey. Ribs I would pass on - this is not their strong area and can't hold a whisper of flavor to The Pitt downtown (but then the Pitt is really pricey). Sweat tea is really good as is the cole slaw and vanilla pudding. not so good... the potato salad and the fact that fried okra is not a regular side. You have to order it as a extra.

This place is great and much better than the more well known places. My son and I stayed right near this place and decided to give it a try and two northern boys were really surprised. This place was great. We had pork and brisket and were just floored by how good it was and really reasonable! We were going to take the entire baseball team back on Sunday but they were closed. If you are in North Carolina don't miss this place, the staff is great and very friendly.

We swung in here for lunch on a Saturday without reading any Yelp reviews beforehand (blasphemy!). It was close to our hotel and we figured it'd be easier than trying to find parking near any of the places downtown. I think we were there around noon, there were only a few other tables dining in, and a few people came in to pick up to go orders. Our waitress was super friendly and never let our drinks get anywhere near empty. As far as the food, I ordered a pork sandwich while my boyfriend had the beef brisket sandwich. We got beans and fries for our sides. I'm not sure what the correct BBQ term is, but our meat came naked, just smoked without any sauce on it. I really appreciated this since it meant I could try all four of their sauces by themselves. Most places I've been the meat comes out with original sauce already on it and then you have to try to find a piece with less sauce so you can try their other sauces on top of the original sauce. That was a really wordy and confusing way of saying our lunch was awesome. The meat was tender and juicy and the sauces were good. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and want a low key and cheap lunch or dinner.

Having grown up in the midwest, but living on the east coast for the past few years, i've had my share of bbq at local and franchies places. I was in town for a wedding, and decided to pick up a little bbq while i could. We went there for lunch on sat, and the food wasn't bad. they have "chopped" instead of "pulled" pork, which i got the sandwich. definitely tender and moist. i struck up a conversation with the manager or owner(not sure) and they definitely cook their meat right. slow cooked the night before, he stated they don't do ANY dry rubbing which i found interesting. going for pure meat flavor i guess? either way the bbq was good. id have to try their ribs for a "true" test and maybe bump it up to 4, but danny's definitely does their bbq right.

Sit down, home cookin'. Many options, great value. ALWAYS fresh! Great turkey, ribs, brisket, and of course, bbq pork. Kind of a spin on NC meets Texas style, slow cooked pink bbq. Not anything fancy but the decor is quite cultural... for North Carolina.

Have been there several times. The Banana Pudding is delicious! Also do not forget to try the RIBS...they taste like bacon on a bone. So Yummy! The cole slaw is very good as well perfect balance of sweet and savory.

I give Danny's BBQ 5 stars because it's probably my favorite place in the area to get lunch. (I work in Morrisville.) It does get really busy at noon during the week, but the service is quick and friendly. Just be prepared: this is not traditional North Carolina BBQ (pulled pork with a vinegar / pepper sauce). I appreciate most all types of BBQ, so Danny's is a nice change from the traditional places. I love their brisket and chopped pork. Their baked beans are very tasty (on the sweet side, rather than the spicy/hot side that many NC BBQ places favor) and their potato salad is great. I've had desserts there a couple times, and they were very good too. The staff has always been very friendly & very quick to refill drinks. Don't forget the sweet tea!! (p.s. One negative reviewer complained about ordering sliced pork loin. This meat is exactly what the menu describes -- slices from a pork loin. I don't really consider this to be a traditional cut of BBQ, so if you're wanting pork BBQ, just get the chopped pork!!)

Our group was looking for some local BBQ, without going into the middle of nowhere where the real stuff is I'm sure. Anyway, this sesms to eb the real thing, no chain restaurant with props to make them appear to be local. Instead Danny's is a no frills, real food stop. I chose the baby back ribs, but others in the group had chicken, beef, or pulled pork and everyone was pleased. Nice assortment of sides that had that home cooking taste. My only mistake was to ask if they corn bread seconds after the waitress told our table that the only bread they had was hushpuppies... the waitress gave me a BBQ Nazi glare and replied that "we only have hudh pupples".. I sat quietly afterward and enjoyed my ribs. :-)

There are 3 Danny's in the area, this one in Cary, one in Morrisville, and another in RTP. Be aware that this is not Carolina style BBQ. If you want Carolina style, go to Old Time BBQ or Smithfields. Although they have chopped pork, it is not in a vinegar sauce but instead is served basically sauce-less but well-smoked and moist. The tables and take-out are stocked with 4 different sauce containers: sweet, spicy (both of which are traditional tomato-based), mustard, and vinegar. My favorite dish is the chopped pork (not on a bun), and then mix in a combination of both the sweet and spicy sauces. The meat by itself has a wonderful smoked flavor with clear evidence of the pink smoke ring. The pink is not a measure of rare vs done, but instead of smoke absorption. Save room for the desserts, especially if they have berry cobbler or banana pudding. I haven't been disappointed with any of their sides, so give one or two a try. But I tend to load up on the meat. I have three favorite lunch places, this is one of them. Every person that visits NC needs to try Carolina-style BBQ. Although this isn't Carolina-style, it's still a wonderful place to eat and I recommend it to visitors and locals.

What a great place for some yummy BBQ! I hat chicken and baby back ribs and it was great. My husband had spare ribs and brisket and enjoyed the meal as well. They also have a kid's menu. Awesome waitress!
(5)Rebecca F.
(2)Angelique A.
(4)Nina P.
Danny's BBQ is out of this world! The beef brisket is always succulent and the Potatoe Salad is consumed and then order a take out container for late night snack! Very friendly staff, line can be long at lunch but zero wait time on food helps this venue plow thru the line.
(5)Laura P.
Amaaaazing.
(5)Kassandra R.
(1)Mike M.
(5)Mike B.
We've been coming here for about 20 years now. Danny's offers one-of-a-kind Florida-style BBQ, with awesome sauce. The pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast is my go-to, and always a hit! It's a great sit-down restaurant with relatively quick service.
(4)Jill T.
Love love love this place !! BBQ is amazing and so is the turkey ! When ever family is visiting they request to eat at Danny's !
(5)Bob C.
Forget the east vs. west debates -- this is simply great barbecue. Try the baked beans and finely chopped slaw as sides.
(5)David G.
(2)Aura M.
Great place for quick, good bbq! Went for lunch and their pulled pork was really good. We were in and out within an hour.
(5)Patrick S.
Chopped pork was really good, but the beef brisket stole the show! It had a great smokey flavor, was moist and tender. The field peas were good but the collards had almost No flavor whatsoever. I wish they seasoned them with ham hock or fat back anything.
(4)Corey E.
Good ole country cookin! Don't get here too often, but I love it when I do! Would be 5 stars, but not a Fan of their sweet tea.
(4)David F.
It's very mediocre to me. I ordered the turkey breast lean platter. The salad felt small and the turkey plate was small as well. Taste was ok. It wasn't outstanding. But I felt that paying $7.50 would be better spent elsewhere.
(3)David P.
The pork and brisket were great and the prices are reasonable. The collards and green beans lacked butter and/or bacon flavoring I expect in the south. But overall, good food and I would certainly eat there again.
(4)Dean B.
(5)Jeff D.
A favorite local BBQ joint. Great food and friendly service at a (very) reasonable price. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but that's part of the allure of a consistent local restaurant.
(5)Brilynn C.

(3)Ben Y.

(5)M C.
This is a GREAT lunchtime place. Pulled pork is amazing. Service is quick and food is very well priced. Delicious sides too, like fried corn and collards.
(5)Jamie M.
Amazing BBQ and the brisket melts in your mouth. They have really good sauces, potato salad, and banana pudding. We feed our entire platoon from here at least once a month. The service and management exceeds expectations.
(5)Helen A.

(5)Eric G.
Good as usual. Collards didn't taste as good, but it is out of season. BBQ was a 10 of 10. We also had some ribs and they were perfect.
(4)Howie P.
Prices went up and there is now one less rib on the plate. Instead of punishing your customers, maybe open on Sundays. You'll make more money and you won't alienate the people who keep you in business.
(3)Denise M.
Excellent ribs and chicken! Chopped pork is good, although I've had better in the area. Service is QUICK and prices are great. Why doesn't this restaurant serve mac and cheese, though??
(4)Joel K.
Chopped pulled pork plate, yes please. My dad in MI won't let me through the door without some Danny's making the trip. Great food, cheap price.
(5)Jon V.
(4)George F.
(4)Paul G.
Good BBQ but nothing unique or distinguishing about it. Reminds me of chain restaurant food and the portions were small compared to other BBQ restaurants. One and done.
(3)Jason F.
(4)Ezra H.

That'll do.
(3)Josh B.
The place was packed for lunch and I still I had quick great service and the food was fantastic. Parking was pretty limited, but not a showstopper for me.
(5)Gregory H.
(3)A. R.
Really great bar-b-qued meats! Fabulous favors. But very disappointed that they stopped offering beer! Would have given them five stars, if could have had a beer as in the past!
(3)Cait H.
(4)Chris N.
Raised in Eastern North Carolina I would have told you that there is only one kind of bbq. Chopped pork with a vinegar based sauce. Danny's changed my mind. I love the smoked chopped pork. Then adding sauce to it after. I do believe they also have the best brunswick stew in town.
(4)Andrew S.
Carolina BBQ at its finest. The brisket, wings, pork shoulder, and sides were all unbelievable and everything was hot and done to perfection. Prices were extremely fair for the quality and portions you get. If you want BBQ around the triangle, THIS is the place to go.
(5)Mark M.
Enjoy!
(4)Michelle L.

(4)Christina L.
(5)Jill H.
(5)Chris B.
Great food and very friendly service. I'm not used to being called honey ( being from up north) but with BBQ that good you get used to it. Servings were perfect size so that I don't go staggering out the door in a dazed stupor. definately go back if I am ever in the neighborhood.
(4)Meghan B.
(3)Chad E.
(4)Denise D.
Good stuff!
(5)Cecelia M.
Great food, great prices and great service! Loved it!!! We'll return often.
(5)Pasquale R.
ENJOY!
(3)Rj C.
@ 12:30 this places is packed! BBQ was worth coming back for.
(3)Mark D.
Hands down the BEST barbecue in the Triangle I've had. This is that special place to take an out of towner looking for great barbecue in N.C. Go there. Lather on the native vinegar style sauce on your pulled, smokey pork and then dollop on the red sauce. Awesome.
(5)Renee S.

(5)Scott K.

Great Barbecue, Fast Service! I've only had the Beef Brisket and Pork and was great. Friendly waitresses. Goto spot for lunch!
(4)K F.
Best bbq in the Raleigh area. Ribs are awsome. All the food is great. This is not Eastern NC bbq.
(5)Mike O.

Pretty good barbeque! Service is mediocre. Nothing to scream about, nothing to run away from. Consistent food.
