Romans is a great little lunch spot. Their burgers (made from Hickory Nut Gap ground beef) are more than worth it. They also offer weekly specials so there's always something new to try. Although I haven't tried it myself, I was told by a hefty fella that they have the best chicken salad he's ever tasted. He looks like he's tasted more than enough over the years so I trust that he's accurate. Update: The chicken salad is, in fact, amazing!

I recently had an out-of-town wedding in Asheville. My sister, who lives in Asheville, recommended we use Roman's catering for our appetizers and sides since we were already getting our main coarse from another company. They listened to our ideas and came with some of their own. The result was a feast of amazing dishes! They made home style classics in a fresh and unique way. Everyone was raving about the food and thoroughly gorged themselves. We had: Feta potato salad; a beautiful green salad with balsamic dressing, figs, and pistachios; quinoa mac and cheese; mini chicken and waffles; sunburst trout crostini; house made pickles; and the crowd favorite, candied bacon! The food truly highlighted our special day!

Roman's is one of my favorite spots in downtown to get a burger and other sandwiches. They use locally raised meat and other local ingredients as well. I've taken quite of few of my out of town friends to Roman's and they all love it, I would recommend checking Roman's out for lunch.

Been here a number of times since they moved from Fairview. I'm not surprised how successful they are. Bottom line is the sandwiches they create are unique and have interesting and delicious ingredients. If you're looking for a generally quiet place to have lunch, I highly recommend Roman's.

This place is great! I was visiting Asheville and was looking for a nice place to have lunch, nothing too heavy. Roman's was perfect. They have chairs oustide if you want to enjoy the fresh air, but if you wish to sit inside, you have a cool and relax environment. I had the turkey and cranberry pesto sandwich, which had a nice sweet pesto taste, and the white chili soup, which had a nice spicy kick to it. The service? Very friendly and quick. I enjoyed it.

Let me start by saying the food was pretty tasty, but you've got to have a mind-blowing sandwich to convince me that it's worth $8-9. I got a turkey cranberry pesto, which clearly had some quality ingredients and was made beautifully. I would gladly pay $6 or even $7 for it, but without chips and a drink, $8.00 is a bit much. Service was very friendly, and if price isn't an object, I would definitely recommend the place.

We stopped here on Saurday afternoon after the Southern Highlands Craft show. We wil start off by saying the two young ladies behind the counter were very nice, especially the llittle blonde girl who took our order. She would get 5 stars, BUT regretfully we could not give 5 stars to the food. My Husband ordered the greek salad with Chicken. Way too much dressing on the salad..it was smothered. Dressing is supposed to enchance the food not kill it. The chicken strips were dry and nasty. The coffee was very mediocre. I had grilled veggies on a whole wheat roll/bun. The roll was doughy and clung to the roof of my mouth , but the veggies were grilled nicely and those I enjoyed. We had a tropical coleslaw which we both loved. Paper plates and plastic knives and forks do not go down too well in a restaurant right in the heart of downtown. That is okay for Macdonalds or burger king. $10 each can buy you a real nice lunch and a great cup of coffee in several other places around town and you get real cutlery. I might pop in and pick up a take-out container of their Tropical coleslaw because it was so good, but would we eat there again ? NO

They are creative and interesting, with delicious stuff on them such as goat cheese, balsamic vinegar, caramelized onions, roasted veggies, spinach, etc. Roman has a weekly special sandwich so there's always something new. They have a $10 combo which includes a sandwich, a side such as the great pasta salad, and a drink such as one of their several special lemonades (with pomegranate and the like). It's a lot of food and very tasty for $10, a good value for what you get.
