Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Had the Greek salad 2 days ago and loved it so much I went back today. Also tried the cheese pizza, mmmmmm. Like being back home in NY. Large, cheesy, crispy crust, with a hint of sauce...perfect. Both of these times were for lunch but I love it so much I will bring my family from Canton to have some authentic NY pizza. The man behind the counter (maybe the owner) was very friendly and spoke with a heavy Brooklyn accent. He is passionate about the food and walked me through the pizzas in the counter.

Simply the best. My girlfriend and I both agree that the term "best" extends past the borders of Asheville. Probably the best we've ever had. True NY style. Healthy amount of cheese. The service from all three team members we interacted with was top notch and very friendly. See if Sherry is working. She was the best!

I am a pizza lover. My goal in life is to find the best pizza joints and the best BBQ. There are a lot of both here good and bad. Every time I find one good I go crazy. I found another one in Asheville named Favillas. I found it by accident I was at the dentist. I went in and ordered a slice. I could not believe it it was just like home. So naturally I had to talk brooklynese, you know how New Yorkers get a lot of BS, to the owner Andy. The pizza was great the slice was hugh. The taste was great and the service was excellent. Best of all it folded in half and did not drup. On another trip I bought. 6 Sicilian pies to go. I took them to work, I work 60 miles away. I don't need to say they weren't hot but we have ovens. The people loved them. I have been here many times and never been disappointed. That's why I keep going back. It's real NY pizza." not a Fugazi."

Dont bother ordering delivery from this place. Takes 2 hours to deliver a salad, a large pizza and some buffalo wings. Oh yeah.. Be prepared to be put on hold if you make a phone call.
(1)Dale B.
BEST pizza in Asheville. BEST. I love this place. Great service, and soooooo yummy. You want it NYC style? Go here! Get a slice of pepperoni before 5pm. Prices are typical pizza joint prices, and the pizza is amazing! Ok, I admit it. I love their pizza. I have lived in many places, and this is in my top spot for pizza places.
(5)Dominick D.
Reminds me of jersey pizza I always have when I visit my cousins. Definitely recommend.
(5)Brad L.
Delicious ny style pizza, great flavor, crispy crust, and tasty sauce. Reasonable priced and friendly I will be back.
(5)Brooke B.
Every time we have eaten here we have loved everything. The pizza is excellent! Definitely go if NY pizza is your thing, they do it right..
(5)Beverly B.
We picked up a Pizza Primavera for carryout - it was fresh and delicious. I have never had pizza with Sesame seed crust and it was very tasty. We'll definitiely go back again.
(4)Gary L.
The Atmosphere is lacking but the food is great! It seems more like a take out place than a sit down place. The meatballs are very good. Loved the pizza and Stromboli! The prices were very reasonable. All and all a great dive find!!
(5)Amy S.
We discovered this place after "Circle in the Square". Favilla blows that away! They are friendly, just like everybody else said. Hope you get to meet Sherri- you will feel like you have known her forever. She cares about her work and people, and that's hard to come across nowadays. I love the atmosphere- casual and warm, with that New York edge. All their stuff is delicious. Slices are huge- they are basically two pieces of regularly sized pieces of pizza. I love the Sicilian- they make it in a unique way, with the sauce sorta peeking out of the cheese and/or on top of the cheese. My husband says that the "old style" Sicilian is fantastic (he just wanted to add his two cents). The "cream of spinach" pizza is to die for. If you go through the door to the right, you can look at pizzas and ask questions before you move to the dining room. Imported and domestic beers are here, and red and white wines can be bought by the glass or by the bottle. Prices are right. There are specials everyday. You do not have to ask for extra napkins. They are not weird about to-go stuff. Bathrooms are super clean. Three or four small picnic tables out front for outdoor dining. Catering available. Ten mile radius delivery. My husband goes at least once a week. Make it twice for yourself.

I was looking forward to this place after seeing all the great reviews. We ordered in to our hotel which is only 8 min away from Favilla (I mapquested it) and were not given a time for the delivery. We waited an hour and called to check on the pizza. We were told that it would be to us any second.... 15 minutes later another call... We were told they did not know who told us 15 minutes and the pizza was coming out of the oven. Needless to say over two hours for a pizza is insane! I understand it's a saturday but that's ridiculous. They told us they would make it right by bringing a free dessert and they showed up without the dessert and the cheese and red pepper we asked for! Terrible customer service average pizza and it was cold!
(1)Pamela R.
Everything I get here is always awesome. I love that you can stop by and they have a case of pizzas that you can get by the slice. The mozzarella is thick and gooey like it it is supposed to be and they have homemade cheesecake, which is excellent!!! I am never disappointed.
(5)Kevin S.
So my first introduction to Favilla Pizza was their delivery SUV. A Chevy Blazer with the international symbol for choking on the window.....ok, that's the Red Sox fan in me....but they do milk the NY connection. Guess I'd milk the Boston connection if I had a business like theirs. Anyways, ordered a nice pepperoni/mushroom and one spinich pinwheel. Oh my! The Pinwheel? AWESOME! good thing I only ordered 1, it was HUGE! The pizza was incredible! Definitely NY style. They might be Yankee fans, but they know pizza!! I'll be back the next time I'm in town.
(5)Trish H.
Went there while on vacation. The food was reasonable, great service,We had subs and a salad.Chicken Parmesan and Eggplant. Both were delicious -loved the Italian rolls they came on.Authentic sauce.Shout out to our super servers Gabby and Eric!
(5)Meredith S.
My group ordered several different kinds of pizza including Grandma, Veggie and White pizza. Everything we tried was delicious and we would eat there again. So many items to choose form on the menu it was hard to decide. We started with the garlic knots and a couple of beers. Nothing fancy here but we enjoyed our visit and would stop in again when craving pizza near Asheville.
(4)Janice G.
The Greek salad was big and fresh and enough to share with another person. The pizza was very tasty and we will go back.
(5)Lee C.
The best, authentic NY pizza in town! The dough is garlic perfection. Favilla's prices are incredibly reasonable, particularly their weekday lunch deal where any slice and a soda is like $5.99 delivered.
(5)Melissa C.
Awesome pizza. If I could change anything, it would be the sauce. It's similar to salsa like tomato sauce that you find in lasagna. If you decide on the garlic rolls, make sure to get it with the cheese!!! Yuhuuuum. Very small little place, but quaint and perfect for a fun date. The service here is fast, friendly and professional.
(4)L C.
Pizza and Greek salad = 3.5; service and kitchen are horrible; I can't even give these 1 star.
(1)Matthew L.
This place does not look like much from the outside but trust me, this place is amazing! Best pizza in Asheville, hands down! Great customer service, fast food, and a clean dining area! The taste of this pizza brings me back to the pizza joints in NJ and NY. Do not miss out on this place! Try the Sicilian with Pepperoni, AMAZING! Oh and the Garlic knots, I think they call them Garlic Dough? Oh and the house salad! Well, pretty much anything on their menu!
(5)Andrew F.
Great pizza - (Only had one small issue out of of all the times I ate there, and the owner called me personally.) - Great people, Great pizza. Been getting pizza from Favillas since it opened and will continue.. Would defintely recommend.
(5)Caleb C.
We love good pizza, and this place has it! We were traveling through Asheville and decided to give Flavilla Pizza a try after reading Yelp's reviews. Grandma's Sicilian was my favorite. It's the lightest, crispiest Sicilian pizza I've ever had. The kids got huge slices of cheese and pepperoni and ate it all. It was a great, inexpensive lunch. 5 of us ate for $20 and our waitress, Sherry, was very helpful and friendly.
(5)Kimberly R.
We called in at my office, at 11:30 - they delivered the food cold at 1:06. We had 4 orders, so it was not more than what one family would order. The subs were bad- the cheese on the steak and cheese was melted cold and hard, there was about 2 tablespoons of steak and the bread was hard to chew. Calzone was mediocre and the other sub was right below par. The one good thing that they brought was a chef salad, so they are great if you enjoy lettuce for lunch. We had ordered delivery from there before, and the food was ok, but they had left 1 main dish, and 2 sides at the restaurant and had to go back and get them. Just not a great place to order from.
(1)Deacon Eugene S.
Great pizza, hands down. Parking is limited, but we found a spot and sat inside. Staff very very friendly and were quick to come to our table and follow up throughout the meal. Slices were huge! Two slices equals a medium to a large thin crust at other pizza places. Very authentic Brooklyn style pizza.
(4)slim s.
Phenomenal!!! Hey..if you know NY pizza, like REALLY good NY pizza, you HAVE TO come here! This place blew my mind! I found it on Yelp while doing work in Ashville, so I decided to try it. WOW!! I walk in and get the typical "ha ya do'n!" Love it! They have a great variety of pizzas and all kinds of your other favorite NY pizza shop goodies! I tried the grandma's pizza, pepperoni, 7 cheese with spinach and fresh tomato and last but not least, fresh eggplant and garlic! All of them reminded me of where I grew up in NY! Great dough, awesome freshly made sauce, and all fresh toppings! Bet pizza in had I a really long time! And it gets even better! Top top it all off, this amazing woman, also the owners cousin, Cheri helped us out bringing our food out to the table. She made this the best dinning experience I had in my 10 day stay in Ashville! She made us really feel at home here, like we were family! She served us like my own mother would when I come visit! She was so amazing, and it's something I never do, but I HAD TO give her a HUGE hug! And...and she told me they had fresh canolli's, yup you guessed it, we tried them...WOW! This was in the top 2 canolli's I've had in my life...if not the top one! This is hands down, THE BEST pizza place in Ashville! Trust me, if a born and raised New Yorker like myself enjoyed it, you will love this place!
(5)Donna W.
Best kept secret in Asheville. Not a lot of parking but it is WORTH any wait (if there is one) HUGE pizza but truly is a REAL NYC SLICE. Best way to eat this pizza is INSIDE when it is pipping HOT. We live about 30 minutes a way so it's best for us to eat it there. YES... it is WORTH us to drive the 30min. for the ONLY NYC pizza in Asheville. We ask them to cook it a bit longer for extra crispy. THIN CRUST NYC THE BEST!!! Waitress inside is the best. We just love her to death. She remembers us and others every time. Owner is just "a trip" LOL Real New Yorker
(5)Avery W.
The best pizza in town, hands down. Great sauce to cheese ratio, exceptionally charming wait staff. Sherry is wonderful!
(5)Sandra M.
Best value around. True New York style pizza. Really. Huge slices. I love this place and owners, employees always super friendly and helpful.
(4)Kelly K.
I'm originally from NYC so I can confidently say that this is real New York style pizza. Really great food and friendly service.
(5)Carol L.
A must-try for pizza heaven in Asheville. The Cream of Spinach pizza was to die for, and several others we tried by the slice just about as good. Greek salad excellent starter for two people. And desserts-wow. Creamy, fresh cannoli and delicious cheesecake. My only regret is that they only deliver in a ten mile radius!
(5)Brett R.
This pizza is extremely legit and consistent. The staff is friendly, the service is quick. I've been in Asheville 5 months, I've had 20 slices at Favilla's. Best in town.
(5)Todd K.
I need to give this place another chance. The staff was very friendly and the pictures on other yelp reviews looked very little like what my pizza looked like this time around. Maybe it was just an off day. Got a large pepperoni and Italian sausage. The pictures in some of the other Yelp reviews seemed to show sliced Italian sausage. The sausage was ground on mine. The crust was burned a little bit around the edges and was a little stiffer than what I like for New York style pizza. Given the other reviews, I'll try this place again for round two eventually.
(3)Bonnie M.
Hands down best pizza in Asheville. Definitely one of the best I have ever had. I had the house special pizza slice. Really awesome!
(5)Erica S.
This place is great! The pizza is your best typical (but so good) New York style ish pizza. The dudes on the phone are so nice, and yes, sometimes the wait is a little long. But when you sit in there and wait, you see all these people working so hard and being friendly to customers that are both walking in and calling in. It's so busy back there in the kitchen (it was a Friday night), and yet somehow everyone seemed to be focused on working hard to treat customers right. I've only ever had their pizza and Greek salad, but I would definitely recommend. Great as a regular go-to standard.
(5)Brenda M.
Love ..love ... Love this place...makes me feel like I am back in New York.... Andy is the real thing !!!! Best pizza ...authentic New York pizza....Sherri the server remembers everyone ...go to get a hug from her.. It will make your day !! We always order a 24 inch so we can take some home !!
(5)Daniel H.
Service was unbelievable we were traveling through waitress chatted us up, and made us feel like we ate there everyday. I had a slice of pepperoni which was HUGE an cheap as well as delicious. A grandmas slice which was super unique, with a sweet chunky tomato sauce. And a pinwheel which was beyond stuffed with meat. Wife had fettuccini Alfredo favilla, which was fettuccini Alfredo with ham, bacon, spinach , and mushrooms. Sauce was definitely homemade. And vegetables and meat were clearly fresh, hands down best Alfredo she's had. Homemade garlics were amazing as well, we were fighting over them.
(5)Mishelle S.
This place is a home away from home for the New Yorkers here in Asheville. Delicious NY style slices with a bunch of other delicious stuff on the menu as well. The owner also just put out these adorable picnic tables in the front for additional seating. It looks great! Great way to use the space they have. Great food and great people
(5)Scott S.
How have I not reviewed this?! This is my favorite pizza place in Asheville, hands down. Mellow Mushroom? Nope. This place. Go eat here. Right now. I'll wait.... ... ...are you back? Good. Wasn't that freaking fantastic? Can you believe you get that entire slice of pizza for like $2.50? It's the size of a football field! I bet you barely ate the whole thing. Did you try a pinwheel? Because those are also delicious.
(5)Sanjay P.
We read the great reviews on yelp and decided to give this a try. Angie cant eat cheese, and I can live without it so when we are at a pizzeria together, we usually try and order the cheeseless. We ordered the special pizza with several toppings but asked them to hold the cheese. We also ordered the strombolli without cheese. The service staff was great - very friendly and cheerful but, maybe because of our order it took A WHILE before we got our food! (apparently the cook absent mindedly included cheese on our food several times over before finally getting it right). The pizza was great - I'd like to take this opportunity to put in a plug for the cheeseless pizza. Folks, try it. The flavors of the garlic, the sauce, the toppings, and the olive oil really shine without the heavy handed presence of the cheese which, especially on a typical American pizza just tends to dominate everything. For a delicate aromatic and savory experience, give the cheeseless pizza a shot. If you really miss the cheese, you can sprinkle some on later. Needless to say please don't try this at a chain pizza place - they will probably give you long looks and really mess it up :) Anyway, the pizza itself was great! Just the savory experience I was rambling about above. However, what brought it down to a four stars is the strombolli. It was way too greasy (now I am not expert on strombolli) and didnt have much flavor; it might have been better with cheese but I tend to be wary of anything that NEEDS cheese to taste good. Cheese enhances flavor, I get it; however there can be flavor without it as well. Enough said.
(4)Jacob L.
Best New York Style pizza I've had in Asheville. I've tried quite a few pizza places in town, and this has them all beat. Marco's is a close second, and was my favorite until I came here.
(5)Laura V.
Best pizza in Asheville, IMO. House is absolutely delicious.
(5)Katie G.
Fabulous pizza and great service! Best pizza I have had! I recommend the pesto! Service was great too. Friendly attentive staff! Thanks Sherry and Gabby for a great experience!
(5)Amir A.
It is a well kept secret, but this place is simply the BEST pizza in Asheville! This is coming from a person who could eat pizza 3 times a day every day. They are VERY generous with pizza toppings, and the quality of their ingredients is excellent. I totally felt that I got a great deal for my money.
(5)Lee L.
I can't believe there is NYC-style pizza that actually tastes like real NYC pizza in Asheville. For the best experience, meet this pizza where it is. Don't fancy it up with toppings. The (perfectly crunchy-yet-chewy) crust can support no more than 3 toppings. Just one or two is even better. The pepperoni is out of this world fantastic. It's best eaten there, but if you're bringing it home, 15 mins in a 200º oven helps get that toastiness back on the bottom of the crust. Oh man oh man. Run don't walk. Only one small complaint. Pepsi goes with pizza, not Coke. Oh well. Maybe I can brown bag it?
(5)Mateo L.
Delicious and filling, price wasn't bad. My only complaint is that it took two hours for delivery. Next time, I'll pick it up.
(3)Jessika H.
By far the best pizza in the state if you're used to northern style pizza =) if you get the garlic rolls I suggest getting the cheese with the sauce so worth the extra couple of bucks
(5)Fatina B.
we were looking for a pizza place that offers a gluten free dough. Favilla Pizza showed up on a yelp search. The reviews for the pizza there in general were all good. We were also interested in a place that is not too crowded and loud on a saturday in downtown Asheville. Favilla is defintly a mom and pop place. It is about 10 min away from downtown. I am glad we found the place. My friend's pizza was great but unfortunately I do not recommend their gluten free version. The dough was too crunchy and sort of burnt a bit.
(3)Matt M.
I've worked in many mom and pop pizzerias in NY growing up. Favillas is doing everything right to continue "New York" style pizza. I don't order my pizza from anywhere else in Asheville. Specialty pies are great, and the garlic knots, never had melted cheese on my garlic knots but the girl taking my order over the phone recommended it. Wow, just wow!
(5)Mary Beth Z.
The best pizza hands down. I have never had better pizza. If you want to find out what pizza is really supposed to taste like, order from here. I moved from LA to Asheville and finding good go-to restaurants was a lot of trial, and where pizza was concerned, a lot of error. This place is a pizza jewel in our town of Asheville.
(5)Ryan L.
This is by far our favorite pizza in Asheville. The slices are HUGE and very tasty, and we love the thin, crust! Their delivery radius is 10 miles, which is nice for us since we live in Woodfin. Some have mentioned that there's a long wait-time when they call, but really the wait is justified by the fact that the food is SO GOOD! This is a family-owned business, and they all seem to work together to produce quality food and service. We've had Sherry and Lori as our servers, and they are both kind and attentive. Thanks, Favilla's, for being so awesome!
(5)Scott D.
In town overnight and tried to order for delivery. Not in my room do not know the address. How does a company that delivers not know the hotel's within 3 miles. Lost a 30 dollar order
(1)Elise B.
Best pizza in Asheville. I love their pizza fresco. Also their pinwheels are delicious. Their slices if ordered individually, are ginormous.
(5)Anita D.
After waiting over an hour for our pizza to be delivered, we were very disappointed. Not only did they get our order wrong- it was really limp and greasy! Over priced! Not a good experience and definitely not worth the wait.
(1)Ottis T.
This is the perfect pizza spot to grab you NY style slices. Service is top notch, ingredients authentic, and overall experience is top notch. They make some of the best pie in town if you are hankering for that pizza fix.
(4)Philip L.
Had their pizza for the 1st time tonight and honestly thought it was the best I've had in Asheville. Maybe tied with Marco's. We had the Mediterranean. Awesome!
(5)Gina C.
A few pluses and a few negatives.... Late delivery to our hotel room, gluten free pizza (that was yummy and crispy) and food arrived hot. As an extra touch- they brought plates and silverware. On the bad side, delivery took hour and half and wings were fatty and barely saucy.
(3)Steve P.
I can't rave enough about Favilla's. New York pizza at its best. Their Stromboli is massive! I've turned many people on to this place....there is no way you could be disappointed. The staff and owners are super friendly. They never disappoint....ever.
(5)Asheville T.
Well I wanted to try it, ordered a large cheese to be delivered, It an hour for the delivery and when it arrived it was over-cooked/nearly burnt and cool to the touch. Maybe that is their idea of New York pizza but it is certainly not mine. Lucky for me I took one look at this sad pizza and gave it back to the driver. So now I am super hungry with no pizza. Not the experience I was hoping for. I called the store and let them know I was unsatisfied with their product. I wonder if I will ever here back from them, Well that was my near pizza experience.
(1)Roxanne B.
New York style pizza! Delicious crust, sauce and toppings. The sausage was a bit sweet, not really my taste, but still loved their pizza. Good Friday night deal. 2 large pies for $24, one topping each.
(5)Laura R.
Extremely nice staff. Disappointed that our 16" pie, all mushrooms and black olives, half jalapeño and garlic had no black olives on it, had unordered onions (and they were not easy for me to pick off - very small slivers - I do not eat onions) and very little garlic. The over-all flavor was okay but not impressive. The people were so nice that we may give it another try. However, we will open the pizza box and check the toppings before leaving.
(2)April G.
Best (and authentic) New York style pizza in the area. In case you're wondering what pizza SHOULD taste like, go to Favilla's. Dough is light and crispy, and the sauce doesn't taste like it came out of a can.
(5)Greg P.
We (a couple) split an antipasto salad and an 8" pizza with toppings. It was plenty for two people and it was all very, very good. The service was excellent. For the money, I can't imagine a better pizza. Crust was excellent and there was plenty of cheese.
(5)Chip O.
We heard rumors that this New York guy had moved to Asheville and opened his own pizza restaurant. "It's the real deal" our friends said. When I met Andy, I knew that his pizza would be the real deal. We ordered a large house special pizza and they threw in a free pinwheel for us, that was a nice touch on their part. The pizza was great. The ingredients and dough were fresh and everything was cooked to perfection.
(5)Natasha R.
As a girl originally from Brooklyn/Manhattan, New York, I write this testament to Favilla's pizza which my husband and I had the pleasure of visiting for lunch in Ashville a few weeks ago. Upon entering, we were immediately welcomed into this lovely establishment by the owners. There is so much to say about our experience. The food was amazing. Delicious. Imagine the perfect homemade and fresh dough to sauce to cheese ratio in two lunch sized pizzas we ordered. One with chunks of perfectly seasoned, out of this world tender and tasty meatballs. We also ordered a small chicken parm sub. REAL chicken cutlet (not chicken fingers, not chicken patty, not it tastes and looks like chicken chicken) in the perfect thickness (not too thin, not too thick), covered with chunky red sauce and melted cheese on perfectly crisp bread. Drinks were kept filled. The place was clean. Customers and others working there, super friendly. The great (4 star) service added to the pleasant experience. Best part of all is that we got in before they got too famous. Despite anticipated future fame, we will be back and will be bringing others. As current residents of Charlotte, the 2 hour drive is worth it. This place is a gem.
(5)Snack P.
Some of the best pizza in Asheville. The owner and staff take great pride in making a quality product. I've turned a number of my friends onto this place and highly recommend checking it out.
(5)Daisy L.
The staff there is super friendly. However, I have it a shot twice, and there are some cheap qualities about their upper priced pizzas. For one, the crust is tough as hell. Their toppings have awesome combinations for specialty pizzas, but the quality in the taste of the toppings are the same as Dominos. Sorry gang, I think the customer service is awesome, but the crust does the rating in.
(3)Derek E.
It's hard to trust Ashevillians when they use the term "NYC pizza" to describe a local pizza joint. I've seen that term abused by reviewers of other Asheville pizza places that fall short. Basically people use that term if the restaurant spells "pizza" right and uses cheese and sauce. I'm no expert on NYC pizza, but I've eaten at Lombardi's and a few other pizza joints in NYC. I think Favilla is worthy of being called authentic NYC pizza. I just had it for the first time and it's already in my top 3 pizzas in Asheville. Tastes great! The interior is very small so it's not a sit-down place, unless you are by yourself and just want to grab a slice (they have a couple bar stools). The employees were very nice and had my pizza ready in about 15 minutes. If you aren't a fan of the other pizza places in West Asheville, I would definitely give this one a try!
(4)Jennie K.
This is this best Pizza and pasta place in Asheville! The Greek salad is fresh and a variety of veggies, plus the house dressing is great! Ok and then we tried the meat pizza! Wow! Can't go wrong with that one either. Plus they delivered to our house after a long day traveling (we are not that close,8mi) Thank you!!
(5)William P.
i have lived in asheville for 13 years and come from a state with great pizza. in favillas i have finally found my favorite pizza in asheville. no more fantasizing about quick trips to New Jersey or nyc.
(5)Stephanie F.
Best pizza in Asheville! This is great NY style pizza, the cheese is sooo delicious. Don't mess up the pizza with a bunch of toppings, just pepperoni is the way to go. The prices are great and the people are awesome. The main guy that works there (owner maybe?) is a blast. He always puts me in a good mood after fighting Patton Avenue traffic. We drive all the way across town to get this pizza, takes us 20-30 minutes each way with traffic...that's how good it is.

Our delivery was the wrong order, pizza was not fresh at all, and the delivery driver was not safe; as we watched him speed in reverse down our street. When we called for a refund they made it seem like it was our fault that we were inconveniencing them for not accepting a credit. How about an apology for me having to drive over to get my effing refund? Also all they did was make excuses for not writing down the order and for the delivery driver. When I arrived to return the unacceptable pizza the pizza cook shouted at me, "you should have just kept the pizza!". I reminded him that it's not what we ordered & it was cold. Not once did we get an apology nor did the cook offer to fix me a fresh one. I'm used to people providing to the customer their quality of food and service. Go to Marco's Pizza if you want the real deal.

Sweet, burned sauce on too thick crust. Wrong kind of cheese. Gross. A real NY pie is thin crust, oily cheese that you let drip off the pizza and a salty (NOT sweet) sauce. Reminds me of the pizza I had at CiCi's. Gross.

Recently moved to Asheville and was looking for some NY style pizza. Favilla Pizza provided great service as a take-out customer and the small place was clean. Pizza was fresh and had a great taste...this time just went with pepperoni. Will definitely be a repeat customer!

I've had Chicago style in Chicago and Favilla's NYC style pizza is hands down better. Absolutely AMAZING. We were just passing through from Tennessee to Hickory. Found this place on Yelp. David was awesome. Willl make a trip back here definitely.

Hey all - gotta say how nice the folks are at Favilla's pizza on Patton Ave are. Without going into details I'll just say they made my night recently. The food is really really good and I hope y'all get out and try their REAL NY pie.

Was in town on business and asked the hotel for some delivery menus. I settled on this restaurant and I made a big mistake. When I called to ask about some menu items, I was put on hold each time I asked a question. The phone person had NO MENU KNOWLEDGE, oh and this was a Friday night. My order did not take very long and the delivery guy was very nice. I had ordered buffalo wings, an Italian sub and strombolli. The wings were baked and unsauced, I thought I ordered BUFFALO WINGS. The sub had more bread than anything else, I had to actually open the bread to look for the meat and in the bottom of the box was about an 1/8 inch of dressing, which made the sub soggy,so much for my toasted hot Italian sub. The strombolli was good though. I did call to let the manager know about the quality issues and she was very nice about bring it to her attention and that was it, no how long are you in Asheville so I can make this right. Baked buffalo wings seriously, maybe they should put it on the menu that way.

The closest to authentic NY Style pizza that I've had. Pizza took longer than told but that was the only negative.

This is my favorite pizza in West Asheville. I'm not sure why people talk about Standard Pizza, although it has a good location. I really like all the options. I believe this is a pizza place where you can find the perfect combination. Deep dish or regular is a very difficult choice. I prefer their regular margarita pizza the most.

The place was great from the service to the food. Tried out the pinwheel pizzas, greek salad, and a chicken bbq pizza. My favorite part were the pinwheels which we deliciously flaky and full of cheesy goodness. However, I really wish I would have ordered what was brought to several other patrons tables, the calzones or stromboli. They are gigantic and look very delicious. If I'm every passing by I'll be sure to swing by again. Thanks for the meal.

I love this place! I recommended it to our pal Damian down there. I work very close to Favilla's and we order from them all the time. We like to take advantage of their lunch special (2 GIANT slices of cheese and a canned drink for $5!!) and when our bosses order pizza for the staff there's only one place to call... you guessed it: Favilla's!! Seriously, what is the diameter or the slices pie? 24"?? Slices are HUGE. I will take a pic next time ;) The garlic knots... oh....my....god! Such a fair price for such a filling, delicious item. If you like garlic knots, then try these! You will love them.

I'm celebration of my 100th YELP review, I'm happy to be able to make it a 5 star! This was my first time here after someone on Facebook mentioned how great their (Favilla's) cheese knots were. Even though I was packed up and ready to go out of town, I was also starving and that sounded great. To be completely fair, I ONLY had the cheese knots but wow....they were seriously the best I had probably ever had, and certainly the best in recent memory! $3.50 for 6 or only $5.50 for a dozen, I was glad that was all I got because I was totally FULL after that.....and slightly hurting for the first 30 minutes of my road trip. No skimping on the cheese whatsoever and everyone there was super friendly and personable. If they can do SO good on something SO simple, I have high expectations that whatever else I try is going to certainly live up to my expectations and all wave of great reviews I continuously get about Favilla's. They also have Barq's Root Beer, which is a major plus for me. I am really looking forward to going back, maybe today!!

Quick and friendly service. Food was great! We split a house pizza, salad, and garlic rolls. Found out that they deliver, which makes me very excited. I can't stand Pizza Hut and dominoes. Will definitely pay a couple extra dollars to get the good stuff! Lighting was a little bright but cool New York paintings and deco. Definitely returning soon!!

Great pizza! Ordered from a hotel and brought me plates, plasticware & napkins which was thoughtful! Ordered a pizza with Pepperoni, mushrooms, green olives & banana peppers. Also a greek salad. Took a little over an hour to arrive, but it was piping hot def worth it!!!

Hands down the best pizza I've had since being in Asheville. This is true NY in local Asheville Due to reviews I had to try the Sicilian pizza (grandmas) and I was SO NOT disappointed. The crust was perfect not too thick and not too thin. The tomatoes were fresh like they were just picked as well as the tasty basil. Just the right amount of sauce with a little olive oil. The mozzarella was just perfect couldn't have been better. I am a corner guy so I wish every slice could have that wonderful heaven crust to each slice The sit down area is small but they also have take out and delivery I can't wait for my next trip to try their HUGE slices of NY style Table next to me had a Stromboli that looked scrumptious so it appears menu selection items will keep me coming back till I've tasted them all!!! Wait staff was great and very helpful with our selection for our first visit. Very attentive making sure we had everything we needed

Am I a pizza snob, YES. Do I like Favilla's, yes again. The Sicilian pie is awesome. It's definitely worth the little extra in terms of the price that they charge. With a great Sicilian slice comes a some strong prerequisites, quality sauce, good helpings of cheese and a well baked crust without a burnt inside. They do all these well. The circle pie isn't bad either. I will definitely be giving them as much of my pizza business as my appetite allows for.

If you walk in and order a slice or two from the counter, you will get some delicious NYC style slice. Sweet tomato sauce, cheesy yumminess, thin crust. I'd say Favilla's has the most legit NYC style in town. On the other hand, unfortunately I've found that if you order a to go pizza, its not quite so good. The last time I ordered pizzas they were not even fully cooked. Its OK, just order a slice and eat there....plus they have great beer specials.

Best pizza I've ever had. Crispy dry crust on the bottom. Excellent crust flavor. Sauce was perfect balance of salty and sweet. Cheese was just salty enough. Standard Pizza is really good, but this is a step above. Extremely nice staff. Well priced. Garlic rolls with mozzarella were great, too. I'll dream about this pizza for a while.

Legit gluten free pizza, awesome Greek salad, and my kid loves the garlic knots. Pizza slices were bigger than my head. Good stuff.

I have my own opinions about pizza, and Favilla has collected a lot of buzz in this town, by claiming to make the best New York pizza. I didn't know what that claim might mean, except to those who had already decided that New Yorkers makes the best pizza. I was not one of those, but we stopped by at 10 PM on a Friday night. The place was deserted. But the the juke box was playing loops of doo-wop music, and the servers seemed friendly. I was determined to taste the authentic New York pizza, and ordered one with sausage and pepperoni. While waiting, the joint began to fill up with customers. Many customers of many colors and sizes, children and grandfathers. It was like a celebration. My pizza was outstanding; a relatively thin crust with charred marks and a thin sauce under spicy pepperoni and spicy Italian sausage. One of the best I've had. And the joint was only starting to jump when we left at 10:30 PM. I'll be going back.

This place is off da hook good. They were super friendly and even gave us a free pin wheel while waited. So delicious. We'll be back for sure.

Went to Favilla around 9pm and ordered some wings, garlic knots and a slice of pizza. The man, Dustin, is too awesome! He asked us if it was our first time at Favilla and threw us a little surprise! A Chocolate dipped canoli! So awesome! DUSTIN, YOU DA MAN! ^^This dude needs a raise! He's the reason why people love Favilla! If I ever return to Asheville, I am definitely coming back to Favilla! The staff is just awesome!
