On vacation from Minnesota played golf and then had dinner at outside bar which sits right next to first tee and last green. View is great and Rueben was exceptional.

Been going to Whitefish Lake Restaurant for years and I have yet to have a bad meal. Their prime rib, truffled mashed potatoes, and just about everything else is wonderful at this place. Just eating at the bar is great, too.

This is my hometown staple. My mom and dad eat here at the very least once a week. When I get into town from Missoula, it's usually my first stop for a beer and a steak sandwich. You cannot go wrong with the escargot, steak sandwich or prime rib and the mud pie, cheesecake and peppermint ice cream are perfection! Don't pass up a chance to eat here when you're in Whitefish. It's easily the best and most consistent food and service you'll find anywhere in town. Great full bar too!

We have eaten here several times and the food is consistently good. I really want to give 4.1/2 stars. We ate here last week and most of the food was good. The trout appetiser was a litttle dry. All of the main courses were great. However, the Creme Brulee left a lot to be desired. It had the nice crunchy, crisp topping, but the custard part was way to thick. It should be softer and more creamy. So the trout and Brulee are the reason for 4.1/2. Waitress deserves 5 stars. She was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Finest American food in the Flathead Valley.

Old-school American Steak House, in a lodge atmosphere off of and part of Whitefish Lake Golf Course. This could easily be a 5 star experience, but the class that this place likely once had isn't apparent. I feel this restaurant is for an older crowd that enjoy traditional steaks and seafood, mashed potatoes and pepper grinded at your table. Gourmet dining it is not. Dishes are traditional and the ones that aren't need some work. We began with an appetizer of Thai Basil and Yellow Coconut Curry New Zealand Mussels. The ingredients were high quality but the curry was much too sweet. It was depressing. Bread was delicious tho and drinks were on par, albeit with well liquor. Salads come with your meal and you really do get quite a lot of food here. The salad dressing was a Cilantro Lime something or other and it tasted neither like cilantro nor lime. My hubby and I both chose halibut for our main entree. One was a special stuffed with smoked salmon. Quite good, but overcooked. It was sitting in a very orange sauce which I believe was a roasted red pepper sauce. Tasty, but overall the dish lacked complexity. The other halibut was a regular menu item. Wrapped in a filo with feta cheese, it sat atop a tomato thyme buerre blanc. Once again, the fish was overcooked and the sauce sweet. The one thing that was amazing on the plate, was a spaghetti squash bathed in cream and tarragon. Absolutely delish. Not even on the menu, it was a delightful surprise. The horseradish potato pancakes....not so much. What really brought this to three stars was this...orders were being carried from the kitchen, thru the fine dining room to the club house decks. Really distracting and tasteless. Our waitress was really sweet and a hard worker but not confident nor had the finesse that is usually seen in such a venue. (The hostess was exceptional however!!). When my leftovers were boxed to go, the sauce was not included. What was also dissapointing was that despite this being called Whitefish Lake Lodge...there is no view of the Lake....perhaps you can see it from one of the tee offs. The name is highly misleading. We likely won't be back. We will go to the Boat Club which has equally dissapointing service and food at times but with a beautiful view of the lake. Or, if we want an amazing meal coupled with fine dining service....our first choice in Whitefish is Tupelo. Second choice....Latitude 48.

We went to this wonderful restaurant on a cold, snowy winter evening. It was warm and inviting. Lovely fireplace. If you want seating by the fireplace, you need to say so when you make reservations. We were actually glad not to be sitting right at the fireplace, as it was plenty warm where we were. The food was excellent from start to finish. The service was prompt and friendly. An added benefit was that there was a handicap parking space right at the doorway... Even with all of the snow. Highly recommended for a wonderful dining experience at a reasonable price.

Hands down the best restaurant in town. Doug and Vicki and their staff go out of their way to make every dining experience top notch!

Great views, service and if food is less than perfect, let your server know and they will graciously replace your entre.

We were really excited to treat ourselves to a fantastic dinner here after reading all the stellar reviews. The food was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately the hostess ruined our entire dining experience. We had reservations for two. We arrived and the restaurant was just about empty. However, we were seated in a corner by the cold window and right next to a group of people that were being so loud and obnoxious and shrill that the entire restaurant could hear them. The restaurant clearly wanted these people to leave; they came to ask them if they were done yet about every five minutes. I could not even think straight. Sitting right next to each other, we had to practically shout to hear each other over the noise of this group next to us, and the waitress even had to raise her voice to give us the specials and take our orders. It was miserable. The entire time we were there, the restaurant stayed just as empty, so it's not as if the other tables were being saved for other people. I assume the hostess judged that since we were young, we wouldn't be spending a lot of money, and so we might as well get the worst table in the house. Unfortunately for everyone, we had the money to spend, but the people next to us were so rude and loud and grating on our nerves we could not even look over the menus in peace. We would have ordered another starter, more drinks, and dessert if we had been enjoying our time, but we felt so slighted as to where we were seated that even after the loud people left we did not want to spend any more time or money here. Plus, it was really cold by the window, and tucked back in the corner where we could not easily grab a servers' attention if needed. Again, the food was amazing, our waitress was pleasant, but the dining experience was completely ruined by the hostess. Left a bad taste in our mouth---will not be back. Dined 3/8/15

This is THE place to go to celebrate any special occasion. I love the friendly people and the food is amazing every time. My favorite things are: margatini to start, escargot appetizer, halibut wrapped in phyllo and mud pie.

Amazingly good! I had the chicken sandwich special for lunch, so good! We sat on the deck and watched the golfers coming in on North Course 18 hole. Would highly recommend this place.

Great food! Great service! I love that they have a small plate option for a number of dishes. I love this place!

Absolutely awesome. One of the best meals we have ever had. Everything was amazing... service, ambiance, drinks, dinner, desert. I have been to a lot of very nice restaurants all over the world and I was shocked how great the experience and food was. I could not give this a higher recommendation.

Excellent! I went there for my anniversary. They have a cute little bar in the front and a huge dining room in the back. The food is magnificent, especially the steak. They have a great wine list. And, the staff is wonderful.

A lot of restaurants can surprise you with their great service and food during one visit and leave you scratching your head a week later wondering what the hell happened on this visit. Well, that won't be the case with WFLGCR. I have to say that of all the Flathead restaurants, it has been the most consistent at being fantastic. I've never had a bad experience or meal at this place. When anyone new in town asks me where to go for a great meal, WFLGCR is always my 1st suggestion.

Consistently great food and outstanding service. This is our go-to restaurant for special occasions and we have never been disappointed. The steaks are always perfectly cooked and the seafood dishes are freshly prepared. Try the smoked trout appetizer!
(5)Sammy G.
Tremendous food in a casually elegant dining room. Adjacent bar can be noisy...ask for a table in the back. The attention to the food overcomes that minor issue. All of the folks I dined with raved about the side dishes too. 5 star carrots? Yup!

You can't come to Whitefish and not eat at the Whitefish Lake Restaurant. This establishment is a staple in Whitefish and rightfully so. Lots of tradition, amazing menu & food and the staff will treat you the way guests should be treated. Rack of lamb is a must!

Ate here last night. We sat at the bar since the restaurant was quite busy and we didn't have reservations. Service was very pleasant. I had the tuna tartare - delicious. Then the Greek salad with chicken. BF had pork tenderloin. Yummy.

Beautiful atmosphere, The Lamb and Duck is over priced. Try Tupelo Grille. Same Menu and same flavor.

Great place, just don't order the walleye.

When people ask for the best restaurant in Whitefish, this should be at the top of the list everything else is below Whitefish Lake Golf Course Restaurant. I can't ever recall having a bad meal and the wait staff is over the top good! We are lucky to have lots of good restaurants here in Whitefish but if you want the best... start here.

The golf course is traditional montana in every respect. Warm, inviting and a great experience all around. The atmosphere is as good as you can get up here. Doug and Vicki are great and the food is old school and wonderful. Doug has clearly put a great deal of thought into the wine list and the Prime Rib is the best in town. I would put this restaurant at the number one place not to miss if you come to Whitefish!
(5)Ski F.
We have been coming here for years. The service is exceptional, the decor perfect for a long-established "Montana" restaurant, and the food is consistently perfect. It is certainly not your typical "golf course" restaurant.
