    Pretty darn good but just a little pricey. We started out with the Tapenade, which is delicious! And fun to put together... You get the toasted crostini, a goat cheese round, the olive tapenade, and roasted garlic. Yum! I had the Goddess pizza which was quite good (if I was hungry and didn't get an appetizer, this wouldn't fill me up though.) hubby got the chimichanga... Big, fried, pulled pork in it; also quite good. Our server, Stacy, was friendly and attentive. We'll certainly be back. The only slight downside is that it costs as much as other restaurants in whitefish but isn't quite as exceptional. I will note that the front room does have sort of funny looking chairs but the back room has really cool chairs (I only mention it because another reviewer pointed it out.) :)

    Our first visit after they moved back to Whitefish was just mediocre. I can't say it was bad, but there was nothing really good either. Mediocre, overpriced food. The waitress was friendly but that was probably because she knew one of the people in our party. We chalked it up to them having just reopened in the Whitefish location and added it to the "maybe we'll go back one of these days" list. I'd give them 3 stars for this visit. A month or so later we wanted a change from the normal so we went back again. The service was excellent from the minute we walked in. At the suggestion of the waitress I ordered the baked mac and it was the best baked mac I've found in a restaurant. They went to the "definitely return" list and earned a solid 5 for this visit! A few nights later some friends wanted to try it so we went back expecting good things. Wrong! We were seated immediately and got our soft drinks reasonably fast but that was it. It took about 20 minutes before the waitress even took our food order and then almost another hour before we actually received our food. During that time, not one person came to see if we needed drink refills or anything else. And to top it off, the food was badly overcooked but after waiting that long there was no way we'd have sent it back even if the waitress had ever checked back to see how everything was. Unfortunately this night was a very low 1 star. We probably won't bother going back again. The bad seems to far outweigh the good.

    From 6/30/2015 @ new Whitefish location: We really wanted to Truby's Fine Food & Spirits to be a win for Whitefish, patrons, and staff. Upon arrival we immediately hesitated as we approached the 'wait to be seated' hostess station. The atmosphere appeared very dated with thick carpet flooring and formal chairs(may have all been new but still looked dated). The green pasty colors set a mood that may be contrary to what many out-of-town patrons may be seeking. Pressing on... we waited for the hostess to seat us. After a few moments the bartender cheerfully acknowledged us. The upbeat vibe from the bar helped us overcome some of our inital doubts. After what seemed like five minutes the hostess seated us and than promptly returned to whatever he was working on prior. There did appear to be a few problems with one of the registers which held the staffs attention. The patio was full or at least it was for us when we requested to be seated there. Others may have had reservations or knew the owners because they had no problem finding seating outside. Since the patio is not visible upon entry I cannot write about that area. After studying the menu it becomes clear that Truby's is a bit pretentious and confused with regards to its offerings. From Oysters to mac-cheese and everything in-between. Billing itself as a beer and pizza place our doubts returned in the confusion. The restaurant did fill up over our visit. Three themes appeared. First, nearly everyone was studying the menu, study, being the operative word. The menu seems to just pull you in, requiring your full attention to make sense out of what is being offered. Second, patrons that appeared to be coming in for a meal left after a little more than a drink. One couple just up and left. Had they been upset with each other or just the service? We will never really know. The last theme was that this was a locals place. Many whom seemed to have longstanding friendly relationship with the bartender and each other. We had high hopes that since Truby's had originally started in Whitefish and then having relocated multiple times throughout the valley. That its staff and owners would have picked up a few good things along the way. Despite having a long tenure in the restaurant business they do not appear to have refined there offerings, atmosphere, or service. Instead it is is an eclectic grab-bag of mismatches that spans all levels of previously mentioned references. Our meal started off with an order of bread and olive oil. The bread was on par with what one would expect from the local supermarket bakery. Flavorless, dull, and poorly constructed. The oil was watery and light. Clear trademarks of the cheapest variety. Given the premium olive oil shop two streets over (Genesis Kitchen), this said a lot. Was the bread possibly made in-house? The house salad(s) had been pre-made and chilled in advance. We had been informed that the dressing was prepared in the kitchen. The sparse amount that was added made it difficult to form an opinion. The Athenian pizza (large personal size) was immediately disappointing. Presented with a dull orange tapestry of melted cheese and other items that appeared less than appealing. The flavor was better than the appearance but nothing we would return for. Once again 'cheap' ingredients left us feeling taken advantage of. There are plenty of premium pizza shops to choose from in Whitefish that offer a superior quality product. Service was by kids out for summer break, not career and seasoned wait staff. Excluding the bartender who was clearly a prominent person in the establishment. If it was not for his active, engaged and friendly banter the atmosphere would have been drudgery. We had been very excited to try Truby's. After having done so we see no need to return. The establishment is catering to local tastes within the Flathead. They are not catering to demanding locals and tourists with discerning palates willing to pay a premium for top notch cuisine and service. Overall I would recommend two stars to encourage people to find alternatives. This was our first visit (likely our last) so we will make a good faith assumption that perhaps this was an off night and settle on three stars. Leaving it to others to shift the rating higher or lower as they deem appropriate.

    We looked forward to the return of Truby's to Whitefish. We had been out several times to their Meadow Lake location and not been disappointed, and had a couple food truck experiences as well. So when out of town guests came, we eagerly took them. However, I'm not sure that they fulfilled our expectations. The pizza is no longer wood-fired, which affects the taste. I have always been in a rut here, ordering the Ragin' Cajun for years. I asked for the old style version as there is now a new version and, while okay, it just didn't quite fill the bill. The rest of the group that night professed happiness, but maybe they were all feeling the same. Dessert was ice cream from Sweet Peaks and it was great, so Truby's doesn't get to take credit for serving it, only having it available. We return tonight, so will see if they've upped their game. Plus, without guests, we can discuss our food easier.

    Had the oyster appetizer. Very good sauce, the oysters were fried perfect. The clam chowder was think and tasty, great flavor. I had the Special which was Prime Rib. Very tender, perfectly cooked. Loved the atmosphere and the energy. No complaints, will be back for more.

    Only one thing needs to be said. Hair curled up under my pizza AND in my friend's salad. Unbelievably disgusting. Sad since I'm a local with fond childhood memories of Truby's and I was so very excited for their return to Whitefish. Don't know if I can stomach a second chance.

    Ten adults, 2 small children and a bay at one table last night. Everyone had excellent food, everyone's food arrived on time, Everyone was happy. ten out of ten for all aspects of our dining experience. So much more than a pizza joint!
