Ate here again last nite. As usual, the food and service was top notch. It was busy but we got seated in less time than it took to drink a draft. Our meals were prepared and served with about the average wait time. Staff was attentive even though busy. Wish it was not so busy so we could spend more time with our fav server, Jacqui. I had the special menu Opah, My wife had Chile Relleno. Absolutely no complaints about this restaurant. My highest recommendation for dining in Whitefish.

Very disappointed. Our experience was completely different from prior visits nearly a year earlier. First, they must have recently coated the surfaces with varnish. Because the entirety of the restaurant smelt. Second, the veg taco's fell far short of the mark. Eleven Dollars for two subpar tacos that should have cost a fraction of that. Lastly, the host seated a table of screaming kids next to us (the only people in the restaurant at the time). What gives? Summary: overpriced and poor service. I want to like it but this eatery is off the list for now.

Mexican fusion This is a smaller restaurant featuring a lot of locally produced goods. You will be presented with the kind of food you would find in Mexico if Mexico was located in Montana. If their service was better I would be tempted to give these guys five stars. The Service: Some of the staff are friendlier than others... That's as nice as I can say that. The food: The food is on the delicious side. the Duck Enchiladas are my favorite I think, tasty not too spicy. They also have Bison. I have tried the Elk Chorizo it is tasty although a bit salty. The beans are cooked nicely and there are two kinds Black and pinto. There are a selection of homemade hot sauces that I find a little to vinegary and way too salty, but their salsa and chips are delicious. I wish these people would have more specials, I would love to see more creativity being bottled up in the kitchen.

Nine of us had just come from camping in Glacier National Park and wanted a place that was upscale, but relaxed and offering good value. We made our reservation, cleaned up and headed over. Despite being super-busy they were able to accommodate us without any trouble. (Our party came in piecemeal and the host directed us to the bar until we all arrived). Our server was courteous, friendly, and attentive. We had what seemed like house made chips and salsa on our table within two minutes of sitting down.I've never had chips like that before in my life Fantastic! The food was much, much better than expected or hoped for. I'd put PB in the top 10 restaurants for food that I've been in this year. Next time I come through Whitefish I'll be going back.

Well... while traveling thru Kalispell, we were told that this is the place not to miss. As I sit here at the table waiting for my meal, I thought I'll have plenty of time to start my thoughts of this place. We did not have reservations so the hostess said she was going to clean a table and be able to seat us in five minutes. Over forty five minutes later, finally a table. Chips, salsa and our drinks came reasonably quick. Ten minutes later our waitress returned to take our order. The wait is on....... Still waiting on our food. At this point, I don't care what it ends up tasting like. Salsa is empty.... Drinks have have not been refreshed and it's been 20 minutes since our order was placed. I had not planned on this being the last thing we did today.

My mom and I popped in here while looking for something to eat near downtown Whitefish. There was a party in the main room so we sat in the room next door. We luckily got our orders in quickly and ended up having a really nice meal. Our server was chill and friendly. She suggested the special: chile-seared Opah with a cotija polenta cake. I loved every bite of it. My mom had the enchilada, which she said was one of the better enchilads she has eaten at a Mexican restaurant. It was a great start to our weekend stay in Whitefish.

Excellent seafood and veggie tacos! Loved it. Nice guac and salsa too. Taco plates are very filling, very flavorful. The patio is nice. The service was friendly and decent.

This cusines and the waitstraff were absolutely excellent. My entire family enjoyed our meals immensely and the outdoor dining in August made the meal even better. We'd definitely return.

Great food and usually pretty good service, get the chile rellano with carnitas. It's da bomb! Only downside is that it can be really busy and they don't have a liquor license for real margaritas. Still some of the best Mexican in the flathead. The house salsa is great too!

We used to LOVE this place but unfortunately both the food and the service has taken a big drop-off. Salsa bar is gone but they still bring one type of salsa to the table but unfortunately chips are stale. We've eaten here a few times this summer and its not just one item from the menu its across the board just bland. Service wise is even worse, long wait to be seated even though we had reservation. Once seated we waited 15 minutes then had to flag down a server from the outside patio to try and help us get a server for our indoor section. This problem continued the entire meal and we couldn't get help for drinks or even to get the bill once done. It seems they are way understaffed .

Awesome menu. Terrible acoustics in the enclosed porch area. Too noisy. Headache quality. Fortunately we were able to go inside where it was a little quieter even next to a table with three small children. I will update when the food arrives. Ok... food was great. Three small children finally left. Would have been four or five stars if not SOOO noisy.

So i have been here twice. The first time it was during Huckleberry Days in the summer. My friend and i had been up on Big Mountain all day and were starving! We went to a couple of restaurants in downtown Whitefish. All we tried were crazy busy and of course it was dinner time and too long of a wait! We finally came across this place, went inside and noticed it a bit emptier than the other places. After talking to the person at the front desk we were told there was a 30 minute wait. i looked around and saw many empty tables and thought well maybe they we reserved. We then proceeded to their bar to wait for a table and sat there for at least 15 minutes with out even being acknowledged or asked what we wanted to drink. She didn't even ask if we wanted chips and salsa, WE had to ask! HELLOOOO we were waiting for a table and she knew. We were so hungry! Wanted to get a margarita but they don't have hard alcohol, it came in a mix?? Why is that even on the menu? Eventually got seated 40 minutes after we arrived. The waitress we had was really nice and i was impressed with the food. Decided to come back and enjoy my birthday dinner here for the Second time. My friend called to make a reservation during their said business hours and no one answered. She even tried calling a week or two in advance. Called several times. Finally she left a voice message saying what time we would be there. No call back to confirm, so we showed up at said time and day. Raved about the food to my friends before we arrived and we had the WORST waitress i have ever had! She was so rude and even argued with us! We had to go back to get her to complete our food order. The food was so-so. The busser (or another waitress) helped us way more than our waitress did. She was the one who refilled our drinks and got us more chips and salsa, etc. She had to go find our check from our own waitress which we waited forever to get. We gave her the tip she deserved. (Almost didn't tip). I would give this place 0 stars if i could. i will never be back. I am a local and we may not have the best Mexican restaraunts in the Flathead, but seriously PB (may have better food) but its not worth it.

Totally unique, use of local vendors creates a fresh and flavorful dining experience. Highly recommend the elk chorizo as well as the bison mole enchiladas both amazing. This visit however was characterized by something that really was inexcusable. Arrived at 7pm on a Wednesday night to a less than half full restaurant only to wait 25 minutes to simply get seated. Poor front of the house management. We came close to leaving but the food is do good we stuck it out. Jackie our server was outstanding!!!! She took a really bad situation and made it ok. This place would get 4 stars easy but being severely understaffed? No excuse

Clean bathrooms! Great water! Excellent chips and salsa! Fantastic white sangria! And the food is exquisite! Not your typical Mexican restaurant , the cooks are quite creative, with wonderful results! Great service tops it off. And a nice ambiance as well. We had enchilada verde, very tasty.

Went here for dinner with a large party. The food is just okay. We are use to California Mexican food and this was missing a bit of something. The guac was delicious and fresh and the salsa was good. The rest of the food was blah. The service was slow and we had to ask for more chips.

We came here after a long day of playing on the mountain, hungry and ready to eat! We sat on the patio with the sun in our eyes, but once it went down it was really pleasant. Our waitress was really slow and fairly uninterested in us. Perhaps she had more tables inside? She didn't up sell anything and was even a little unclear about what some of the menu options were... She never even asked me if I wanted the beer I mentioned when she took our first drink order! However the guy serving the table next to us was on the ball. If he had been my waiter, I would have ordered Mexican Chocolate Cake the he recommended. The food looks great on the menu, but was average on the palate. I do appreciate the vegetarian options, and my enchiladas were not bad, just a little mushy and the squash and pumpkin seeds are out if season in July! But really, the biggest bummer was how long we waited for the bill. Duh! I won't go back to Pescado Blanco. You might have better luck.

The menu looked really delicious, but I was not satisfied with my food. I ordered the bison enchiladas and they were very over-seasoned. They were also out of bison so they used steak. Somebody else at my table said that their food was over-seasoned too. The atmosphere is really cozy though, and there were some good flavors. If you go here you probably want to get something other than bison enchiladas.

Our first time in MT. First time to visit Whitefish. We're from TX and were missing our TexMex food. Our dinner (chili relleno with carnitas, the jalapeño poppers and empanadas were all tasty, delivered hot and pleasing to the eye. The salsa had a great flavor. Reservations are expected, but the front desk gal was very kind and sat us without one. Service was attentive. A great meal and experience.

  • Lauren M.

The atmosphere was not good. I didn't like the volume level and echoing of the restaurant or even the general décor. For the price you pay, you do not get the feel of eating in a nice restaurant. The salsa provided was horrendous and the food was mediocre at best. I will never be eating at this restaurant again or recommending it to even my worst enemies.

Super cute place with outdoor seating, very competent and friendly staff, dishing up authentically fresh and very tasty Mexican vittles. The carrot puree salsa is delicious but will burn your fucking tongue right out of your mouth, so watch out. Wash it all down, with a few pints of their Wheatfish beer. Can't wait to come back.

Maybe it's my Canadian sensibility and difference in prices of eating out in Whitefish compared to Calgary, but I found Pescado Blanco affordable, delicious Mexican food. Note that while I've had Mexican food in Mexico and California, it's been years and my reference is a couple of underwhelming Mexican joints in my city up North. I found the food outstanding. I love Pescado Blanco's guacamole and salsa. I like food with kick, and Pescado Blanco definitely delivers when it comes to their salsa. This time I had the Pescado Blanco tacos for dinner and they were outstanding. The halibut was prepared well and dressed perfectly in lime juice. I also really enjoyed our deep friend ice cream. So delicious! While I had been skeptical about the idea of ice cream rolled in corn flakes and then deep fried, I shouldn't have been. With notes of cinammon, the ice cream breading was sure to please!

The hostess was so rude!!! The server "Sunday"was Horrible. She didn't get us our bottle of champagne for over 20 minutes after we ordered it. Slow to get our meal and it came with chicken instead of beef. Go somewhere else!

Great food, interesting flavors combined with lots of local ingredients make this place special. One time we went, there we two guys waiting to pick up a carryout order for their families, and it took about 1.5 hours, and we were served long before them because we were staying to eat and apparently the Chef favors people staying to people taking out. Just a note, still delicious food and highly recommended. A little pricey but worth it

Fresh food, great homemade carrot-habanero sauce, and interning menu offerings. I wish they served liquor - margaritas were on the menu but Pescado does not have a liquor license so the margaritas were malt-based. The namesake whitefish tacos were excellent!

You have several vegetarian options on the menu, but it's the same exact recipe, just put in a different type of shell. I am so sick of eating a small portion of butternut squash every time I go here. In addition, they don't change the menu out seasonally. So if it's the middle of August, you're still eating butternut squash. I can't even count the number of times that my husband has suggested eating here but I've put the kibosh on it - so sick of eating the same out-of-season thing. Also, it can be expensive.

Extremely disturbed and disappointed! Found a paper clip inside my veggie enchilada. We are visiting from Southern California and were excited to try this restaurant after looking at their menu online. The concept of Mexican food meets Montana (i.e. Bison enchiladas) was intriguing. I ordered veggie enchiladas and got the cheese instead. I told the waitress who appeared to be annoyed rather than apologetic for her mistake. I eventually got my veggie enchiladas and after eating half of one I saw a bright colored paperclip inside. We told the waitress and she took the plate away and said vey little. A few minutes later the manager came to our table. Instead of taking any responsability and at least apologizing she told us she had no idea how it got there, that they do use those paperclips and that it is very strange while giving us s near accusing look. We were quite embarrassed and disturbed feeling accused and we somehow found ourselves having to explain as to how we found it. It's a shame. Not only was the paperclip horrible and disturbing but the way the situation was handled was even worse. What a shame. If only this businesses could understand the value of customer service.

Bistro Montana Mountain style Mexican food. While working in Whitefish MT, this is one of my "Go To" restaurants. Service is friendly. Every dish tried has been fabulous. I personally love the ELK Choriso Burrito. Lots of wild game meat options and specials are often unique and delicious. For a resort town, the prices are very reasonable. Ask for and try the special carrot salsa!!!! Yummy!!!

Service was awesome at the bar. The bartender was fast and friendly. The margaritas were very unique compared to the traditional way that they are made. They use white wine instead of tequila which was actually pretty tasty. I ordered the special which waa halibut with vegetables. I really enjoyed it. I was surprised to find good mexican/southwestern food in Montana. I'm glad one of my friends from FB who moved out here from AZ told me about this place. I trusted his judgment on Mexican food since hes from AZ and knows his stuff. Next time I visit I will be coming back.

Best chips and salsa ever. No exaggeration. Tried several things on the menu and everything was mind blowing. I have no idea why this amazing Mexican restaurant exits in Whitefish Montana of all places. Friendly staff, great food - a must if you are visiting Whitefish Mountain Resort. Take the free snow bus down to town - it is a short 3 block walk from the first downtown stop.

Great Food! The Shrimp Diablo was so bomb. Go with the sliders for an app you won't be disappointed. The only thing was we got seated in the corner and we were the only ones there. It was kinda strange. But the food was amazing!

Very good. I had shrimp tacos and B had the roasted vegie butternut squash taco. The rice and black bean side was also very good. Only complaint is no real margarita. Definitely would go again.

Great service, great food, came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The restaurant was pretty busy, but we had excellent service from the barman. Food was excellent, the Honey Cumin Salmon was delicious. Good selection of beers on tap, and in bottle and the house habanero sauce was tangy and spicy!

Beautiful place. Essentially empty on a Saturday night. There are several good reasons for that. This restaurant has all the symptoms of being a hobby business. No serious restaurateur would allow it to run so poorly. Don't expect the food you'll see pictured on the 2009 magazine articles. It doesn't live there any more. I'm not sure about the bar either. My frozen margarita could've passed for fruit smoothie suitable for a child. WTH? Happy face to meet you at the door? Our night, the maître d' clearly didn't want to be there. This was Saturday night. May have been short-handed. Others who came later stood at an empty stand looking for someone to seat them. Our waiter was the best part of the evening. Pleasant, great with kids, but perhaps distracted by the chaos of a terribly slow kitchen. The food? So-so, at best. It's not Tex-mex. It's not New Mexico Southwestern, either. Northern Cali? Maybe. But it was the worst I'd eaten since I made the mistake of ordering Mexican food in Calgary, years ago. Canexican? Proly. Badly managed by someone who doesn't really know or want to be in that business? If you're looking for a restaurant, maybe this one's for sale and the owner doesn't know it yet?

Possibly the worst service in Whitefish. As a local I have tried to enjoy this establishment several times. The last time I was there my family and I waited fifteen minutes to be seated, not because table weren't available, but to allow the servers to "catch up" according to the hostess. Once seated we waited yet another twenty minutes before a server even acknowledged us. The other times I have been there has been much of the same. Long waits (to be seated, served, and checked upon), unapologetic wait staff, and snooty service all have been the norm. I really want to love this place, I commend them for the thought of having local items, but having a wait staff that can't seem to deliver proper customer service has removed this restaurant from my list of local eateries.

Stopped here while on vacation in MT. We're huge fans of Mexican food, so we always like to test out the local joint ;-) The ambiance is probably a "3" just because it doesn't have much natural light, and it's basically in a basement...buuuuut the food was amazing. Salsa was excellent (a little spicy). Guacamole was average. I ordered the verde enchiladas (Steak). It was REALLY good but REALLY spicy. I probably shouldn't have finished it because my mouth was on fire, but it was just too good to stop eating ;-) Husband ordered the steak tacos - according to him, they were delish. If I ever find myself in Whitefish (which I hope I do someday) I will *definitely* be going back...and I'll probably order the same thing :-)

I gotta say, this was one of my fav finds this summer!! Off the beaten path, but well worth the trip! A French cook bringing eclectic to Mexican faire....bravo! The entrees are a bit pricey, but the quality will bring you back for more! The carrot based hot sauce was a delight to the tongue. Salsa and gauc---check! The sauces will not let you down, either. I will be back for the Shrimp Diablo... Shrimp and Elk Chorizo? Quite tasty! Just get it!

We ate here twice while in Whitefish. First time, I had the green enchiladas, terrific. My wife had the tortilla soup - nice kick but very thin. Next time we each had the salmon salad. Wonderful flavor to the salmon, perfectly cooked. Not your run of the mill Mexican restaurant.

Most likely some of the best "Mexican" food in the Flathead Valley. Everything on the menu is great and has good flavor, but I give this place 3 stars because of the prices. Close to $20 for some verde chicken enchiladas? Yeah tasty but not worth the price at all. If you want some good takes on Mexican food at prices you would never see at a real taqueria check out Pescado Blanco for some semi authentic food at crazy high prices.

  • Alison G.

5 stars for their commitment to sourcing locally, gluten free options, and the salted beet salad (it was excellent!). 4 stars for the sangria and salsa. 3 stars for the verduras enchiladas and carnitas enchiladas. The descriptions sounded creative and delicious, but they really just weren't that good. 2 stars for the 30 minute wait from when we arrived until they took our drink order (we had a reservation). 1 star for the margarita without tequila??!!??!!

Best Mexican restaurant in the area! Highly recommend the pork tacos. I personally was not impressed with guacamole. Homemade hot sauces are excellent!

  • Jamie B.

Loved this place. There is a bit of a wait for your food since everything is made fresh to order using locally provided ingredients. It is worth the wait. Every meal we ordered was excellent and the salsa was good enough to eat with a spoon, which I did. Out server, Don, was very helpful when we asked for special considerations, like no beans, cheese, tortillas, chips, dairy, etc. and really good with the kids. Been here for one week and this was the best meal that we have had during our stay.

I never tire of going here, nor am I ever disappointed with the food they serve. It's not the usual Mexican food you get at most Mexican restaurants...it's oh so much better! Very unique selection of food they have on the menu; the bison enchilada is what I want you to get today. You can come back tomorrow for something else you see on the menu that strikes your fancy. No, wait, tomorrow is chicken tortilla soup day. OK, so, day after tomorrow you get to choose. Also, if you want a beer, you need to bring your own or stop by Markus Food (a grocery store located a couple of block to the east) and pick up a couple of bottles.

In from out of town. Came in with two local friends. we had a reservation, but upon arrival were told we'd have to wait 15-20 mins to be seated outside, even though our friend had already made the reservation for the patio. We reluctantly waited at the bar, 20 mins later we were seated outside. when our server, Ian, finally arrived, he berated us with long winded nonsense and almost walked away before we could tell him we were ready to order. So we ordered immediately upon sitting down, however it took over an hr to get our food. all the while, our server said nothing, no apology on the wait or an explanation and the restaurant was NOT busy. When my food finally came the order was wrong, I ate it anyway because I was starving... In the end, over priced, small portioned meals with poor service. i would not recommend this restaurant unless you have hours of time and an inadequate palate.

  • Samantha W.

The chips and salsa are pretty good, but there were 10 empty tables and it still took an hour to seat us. A group next to us had a reservation for 7:30, and weren't seated until after 8...with empty tables. Maybe they're just short staffed tonight??? We've ordered, and if it's super amazing tasty I'll come back and change my rating

Nothing better to eat in Whitefish! We had the several dished, all of which were delicious. I would recommend the vegetarian enchiladas in particular. But I can't complain about any of our dishes. Even the chips were great!

Fresh Mexican food in Whitefish? Check. Pescado Blanco is really good. The staff was sweet, they had no issue seating seven of us for dinner. Things to know: The enchilada plates are big and tasty (according to hubby) The fish tacos are a fairly small portion--might not be enough for a full meal. Super tasty though. Chips are home made and lacked salt. Then again, I LOVE salt. The salsa was yummy. Slightly smoked and had some kick to it. They only have a beer and wine license so margaritas are made with white wine (I passed on this, but the father in law loved his) The fish of the day was ono (warm water fish) so obviously it was not fresh locally. Super tasty though (had a bite of hubbies) and the polenta cake it was served on was fantastic. The restaurant has a very fresh, local and organic as much as possible feel to it, which made it a breath of fresh air, in an area where the bigger the steak the better. Prices are a little high for the area but way less than you would pay at let's say Nopalito in SF for a similar meal.

What happened? I took some friends that were visiting in last week and we waited 10 minutes to be seated and you were out of 1/2 the things on your menu. Including salad?!! You might as well close the restaurant. The server wasn't apologetic either. It's like this was normal for her. I know summer is busy, but there was no excuse for this, at all!! Thankfully the kids were saved with chips and salsa.

Honestly 2 stars is kind of pushing it as far as taste goes. The place is clean, polite, decent wine list that has really good prices, and the ingredients used are definitely good quality. However, I can only give it two stars in the taste department. We had three different kinds of taco plates, chicken, fish, and the elk chorizo. The elk was the best for me, but the fish and chicken had zero seasoning. Honestly the only thing you could taste was the flour tortillas. That's it. Even the guacamole had very little taste, and I love me some guacamole. It really does give Mexican food a bad name. Should be much more flavourful than this. Good: Clean Polite Cheap wine Bad: Zero taste.

This is not a typical Mexican restaurant that you would find in Texas Arizona or southern California. It tasted like someone trying to domesticate a wild animal... Mexican food is spicy like a party not bland like an chemistry lecture. My food looked great ... then I bit into it. What a disappointment! Guacamole was THE MOST bland i've ever eaten. Please be warned that this is very unique. For someone expecting Mexican food. .. it really wasn't.

To update my first review, I must comment that I ate here again during my ski trip. The food was just as good as the first time, but the service was lousy the second time. I guess the service is variable. On our first trip we had a super waiter who was attentive, helpful, and personable. On the second trip we sort of had a waitress. The busser did almost everything. The waitress took the order and brought the check. They weren't busy so I have no idea what she was doing. I almost left her no tip and handed cash to the busser, but my husband just wanted to leave one tip.

The food is good but seriously overpriced. Our biggest disappointment was the "margarita" which, after requesting top shelf tequila, we learned is derived from wine products since they have only a beer and wine license. They fail to explain this on their menu but upon further inquiry, they said they use a base of Mike's Hard Limeade and add "some other things." They were fine but not what we were expecting - and kind of stretch to be called a margarita. I'd more accurately call it a lime spritzer. They do a good job with the veggie menu - they include squash in a lot of their veggie entrees which is so much better than the typical afterthought of fajita veggies. I recommend the veggie enchiladas. In all, a good meal but without real margaritas and at $20 a plate, we left a little disappointed.

Pescado Blanco has excellent food, reasonable portions that aren't too big, fresh guacamole and salsa and a a very nice variety for people with different food tastes. The service is alway great and I've never felt rushed, even when it's closing time or when others are waiting for a table. I absolutely love this restaurant.

In a small town, you never know what you are going to get.... As we walked from Central Avenue our thoughts were on an above average meal. The entrance to this entrance is unassuming but as soon as we sat down until we left we were blown away. This place is the most creative food that has been put in front of me in a LOOONNGGG time. Both my fiancé and I had Elk Chorizo tacos and Buffalo enchiladas with quacamole... it was beyond words... unique and tasty. As long as your mind is open to explore the Montana foods you will enjoy this place. Ian is a fantastic disciple of David (the owner) of the wild meats this blessed part of the country...

Between the food and the service we had a great meal. So yummy and such a nice waiter. We are from New York City and have pretty high standards and were very happy!!!

Pretty darn good Mexican food here in Whitefish! While it isn't true Mexican but rather Mountain Mexican, it is still fantastic food. The guacamole was fresh and just plain outstanding. I had the carnitas tacos and they were excellent. They also have a salsa bar that you can help yourself to a variety of spicy sauces. The portions are large so you definitely will not leave hungry.

This place is jaw-dropping good. Best burrito (pineapple habanero chicken) in my life and I'm a frequent eater of burritos. Someone else in our group got the elk chorizo tacos, I've never had chorizo that good in my life, and that's saying something since I grew up in a Portuguese neighborhood. If that isn't enough, they served up the best hot sauce I've ever had in my life, so two life bests in one restaurant. The price is slightly on the high side ($15 burrito) but I assure you, worth every last penny. Finally, the staff was awesome, refills before we could ask and very nice. Can't recommend this place enough.

Food was amazing, chips and salsa good, service fine...very flavorful! Had the squash enchilada... Excellent choice for flavor!

We enjoyed a tasty meal at Pescado Blanco. The wait staff was attentive and the food was prepared well. The salmon and polenta was particularly good, as were the margaritas! We'll eat here again the next time we are in Whitefish, MT.

A must when visiting Montana, and if you're wishing for authentic (not the sea of refried beans!) Mexican, you HAVE to go here. Bison enchiladas with mole, elk chorizo, beautiful fish tacos, housemade salsas...this is an oasis in a desert devoid of other decent Mexican options. Do yourself a favor and skip Los Corporales, head to the "Fish White" in Whitefish. The only bummer is no hard liquor license = no real margarita. Go for the house sangria instead, you'll love it (just say no to the Montana wine-a-rita!). I bring all my out of town guests here...and you get a lot of them, when you move to within spitting distance of a National Park!

Really, really good. Highly recommended for an after skiing dinner. I can't believe how long it took me to finally come eat here. Great food.

Thanks to you Yelpers, I made reservations for my husband and myself to dine at Pescado Blanco on a Tuesday night in August. We were not disappointed. The menu was so great that it was difficult to choose. We decided on duck enchiladas and the shrimp diablo entree. With too many chips with superb salsa (I'm opposed to large pieces of onion,) we imbibed in a delightful, medium priced Petite Syrah. The wine list was good, not special but good. Cervezas more prolific. After just the right time span our entrees were served by a very attentive, adorable waitress named Heidi. Hungry, I dived in to the very piquant, spicy but not too too!, shrimp diablo. It was so interesting, with lovely diced and roasted veggies incorporated into the shrimp, elk chorizo, and beurre blanc/white cream sauce. Heidi told us there are habanero chilies in the sauce, which usually are too hot for me. Not this time. The level of spiciness enhanced and brought forward the many diverse flavors involved. This dish was truly the best thing I've been introduced to in a very long time? The duck enchilada paled in comparison, but, had I tasted it first, I'm sure I would have reviewed it differently. My husband, who ate them first, gives them 4.5 stars. Try this place!!! We loved it!

More like 4.5 stars, but I'll round up rather than down for a couple of reasons. First, context. I was in the Western Glacier region for a week, when my wife and I decided to spend a day in the picturesque downtown of Whitefish. I'd down a little Yelping, but Yelp isn't going like gangbusters out here, so word of mouth was abbreviated. However, after walking around the intimate (read: tiny) downtown and reading the few reviews for this place, we went to Pescado Blanco.. What drew us in were two dishes on the menu, and they absolutely proved we had made the right choice. They were the elk chorizo tacos and the pheasant enchilladas in a peanut mole sauce. Yes, I understand those dishes are not "traditional Mexican" but Pescado Blanco does not advertise itseld that way. More importantly, I wanted something unique that utilized the region's meats. I could have carne asada, carnitas, shrimp, etc. at any decent Mexican joint in San Diego. I wanted the "Mountain Mexican" food, and I'm damned glad we tried it because both dishes were awesome. My wife could not stop raving about the peanut mole, and de acuerdo, it was crazy good. My elk chorizo was plentiful and tasted delicious with the carmelized onions and crimini mushrooms (both two favorites of mine). I knocked off one star because the black beans and rice sides were adequate; I would have liked to see the chef liven them up a little especially since this was more gourmet Mexican. Also, Pescado Blanco was a little over-priced. $16 for traditional pollo, carnitas, etc tacos or enchillads? I didn't care if we were in Montana, that's highway robbery. But I didn't mind paying $18 and $21 for ours since the meals were unique, and I did not feel cheated at all. I added a star back on because of the following: -Fantastic chips and salsa bar. We sampled a pico de gallo, a roasted tomatillo salsa, and one other I can't remember, but they were ALL tremendous. - The chef invited us over to tell explain how he made his Mole sauce when my wife was curious. It was great to see the head of the kitchen actually take time out to go over ingredients and discuss the making of the sauce. This is truly caring about your customers and shows a little something extra that makes a world of difference.

Combination platter on the patio! Fish taco, ranchero tamale and carnita enchilada, awesome! Also, fresh guac appetizer! Thanks again, yelp!

Amazing food! Their guacamole ranks in the top three I've ever had. Perfect balance of salt and spice. The sautéed onions inside the Elk Chorizo burrito made this dish an absolute 10. I always enjoy a good Mexican beer with my food but I'm so glad I had the Sangria. Thumbs us on the mango carrot habanero hot sauce.

Mexican Bistro! This is by far our favorite Mexican restaurant in the valley that we have eaten at so far. I had the special which was shrimp quesadilla with carrot habanero sauce on top and the pico de gaillo was amazing had bits of oranges in it. The ice tea was divine it had just a hint of passionfruit to it. My husband's fish tacos were excellent. I love that their refried beans are more of a whole pinto beans instead of a mash of disgusting bluck. the sunroom we ate in was a wonderful environment with a cozy fireplace right at our backs. You have to try this place it's well worth the visit!

Best opah, dusted with a rich but noticeable ancho and snuggled next to a.browned cotija, drenched in pesto-Jalapevno creme.. So many blended and mellow tastes. Excellent wait staff. cordial and efficient even down to the table bussers.

No stars if I could for this cleverly named place. After spending an amazing day in glacier all my hubs and I craved was Mexican food. I checked yelp and saw this place ranked quite highly. We set the nav system to destination Pescado Blanco only to get there and see they are closed! There was a sorry note on the door like we were getting dumped by an angry lover! Next time I hope they at least tell us why.

It's hard to find decent Mex food other than in the southwest, but this place has it nailed. Maybe because the chef is from Santa Barbara! It was great with some interesting local twists on the ingredients.

We were so excited to eat here after the reviews. Chips Were good. Guacamole was good, salsa ok. Food was unremarkable and hot very Mexican. My salad was mainly lettuce with about 1/8 of an avocado and a crumble of cheese. Boyfriend's fish was so so. Atmosphere was bad we sat on the patio and had the peaceful sound of an industrial fan overall disappointing.

  • Tim B.

The chips and salsa, and elk chorizo tacos, were both excellent. But we waited an hour after we were seated before our food came. And yelp says they have a full bar, but they have beer and wine only. So . . . no cocktails, very tasty food, and horribly slow service. I would not return.

Went here with the 'rents on our Yellowstone/Glacier trip last June. Can't believe I fogot to yelp about this one. This was a tip from some locals I met at my work. Thanx guys!! This was one of the best meals we had in Montana. While a bit pricey for Mexican food, their ingredients and execution are outstanding! Their salsas and chips were practically impossible to stop eating. Nice salsa bar with 5 different kinds, ranging from mild red, to burning hot habanero, with an ancho salsa in the middle which I couldn't get enough of. I put it on everything! They don't have booze, so they make mock-a-ritas with tequesta, which my mom liked, but I didn't. They have drink pairings with most entrees, which is a nice touch. Someone obviously thought this thru. Long menu with something for everyone. I had the bison enchiladas doused with a red ancho mole sauce, which was the best thing that touched my tastebuds in quite a while. A large portion of delicious black beans with some kind of cheese, and equally delicious seasoned rice accompanied. Mom had elk chorizo tacos, with carmelized onions and other yummy things I can't remember at the moment. All I know is, those were some ultra flavorful tacos, and they were the first thing to vanish from sight. Dad had the seafood enchiladas, which I warned him against since we were far from any ocean. They were good, but I think the "halibut" was actually cod, and scallops were the lil' bay kind. Not bad, but better stick with the local land animals in Montana. Service was kinda slow, but just keep feeding me those chips, and its all good. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. No complaints there, and I usually have one or two. All in all , a really good experience as everyone agreed, and well deserving of four stars. If you're ever in Whitefish, do check it out.

We were looking for a nice dinner while in Whitefish on vacation and came across Pescado Blanco on Yelp (where else?). The menu was just what we were looking for: upscale Mexican. It is a cozy little restaurant in the basement of an old house. It was pretty quiet on a rainy weekday night. We started with white sangria - white wine, white grape juice, and mint. Refreshing! We also ordered the guacamole as suggested in another review; it was thick, chunky, and amazing. We both ordered seafood dishes: masa- crusted sea scallops with a risotto cake and shrimp diablo with a polenta. The seasoning was spot on, the scallops and shrimp cooked perfectly, and the homemade sauces with lots of flavor and depth. They make a carrot-habanero hot sauce in house which is delicious. We bought a bottle to take home with us. All in all, a great dining experience. Just what we were looking for!

Awesome guacamole! A little hard to find, and the wait staff seemed pretty busy, but still polite. The flavorful dinner made the brief wait worthwhile.

Wonderful find! Loved the downtown whitefish setting. The restaurant was very quaint. Wish there had been more outdoor seating. The salsa that came with chips was fresh w/a bit of spice. The sangria and margaritas were refreshing. Chile rilleno was so good. The blend of crunchy outside and cheesy interior was perfect. Sauce was so delicious! My husband agrees with other reviews - the elk tacos were fantastic. The kids burrito was fresh, healthy, and a very generous portion!

Love it here - only complaint is that they are not open for lunch anymore so we could eat there more often! One of our families first choices!

Just had dinner there last night and I'm ready to go back! 6 of us in our party and every meal was excellent. I agree with other Yelpers, the guacamole was very good, along with the chips, which were not too greasy, and the salsa had a nice kick. The elk chorizo tacos were awesome, however, after seeing the size of the burritos I would spend the extra $2.50 next time and get about twice the amount of food. The pescado blanco tacos were also excellent. Friends had a couple enchiladas, chicken verde and the verduras, both delicious. The verduras were very unique and the roasted poblano cream sauce was fabulous. The other two order burritos, carnitas and the super with chicken. They were both tasty, and huge! The outside seating was nice and the service was efficient. The food is deserving of 5 stars, but the reason for 4 stars is our waitress refused to do 3 separate checks for us when asked at the beginning of our meal, and they don't serve hard alcohol so the margaritas are made with a wine-based tequila, so they leave something to be desired, at $7. So all in all, a very nice restaurant that I will be visiting on my next trip to Whitefish!

They've got a great fusion of Mexican and mountain cooking that has me wanting to go back. The bison short ribs were great, the salsa bar was fantastic, and it's hard not to like good stick-to-your-ribs food on a frosty night.

Their food is awesome it is not traditional Mexican food, I would say it's more Mexican fusion. It's great!

Delicious! What a find in Northern Montana! Only thing missing was real margaritas (no hard liquor license) - but good wine and beer menu available.

  • Matt P.

Good food, service, and atmosphere. The only disappointment was the drinks...it's beer/wine only (no liquor), which doesn't work when you want to order a margarita. The sangria I ordered instead was the only part of of the meal I didn't enjoy.

We walked in to Pescado Blanco (White Fish, for those of you who don't speak Spanish) after realizing that the other Mexican restaurant in Whitefish was inside a casino. We were starved and parched and hoping for margaritas, and were slightly disappointed to learn that Pescado Blanco did not have a full bar. However, we were quickly seated outside with a basket of chips, five types of salsa from the salsa bar, and their own version of margaritas made with wines, so it was tough to complain. The margaritas turned out to be both incredibly tasty and a blessing in disguise. Given our level of dehydration the Pescado Blanco margarita was the perfect summer drink to quench our thirsts, and the lack of tequila or excessive sweetening made us that much happier later that night. It doesn't taste like a margarita, but it sure tastes good. The service and food were both amazing and plentiful, and though the restaurant was more expensive than we'd hoped we realized we could have split the combo plate and saved money if we'd thought more carefully before ordering. It's not very authentic - more like gourmet Mexican than actual Mexican - but it is a GREAT place to eat. We're here for a week and are considering a return trip already.

I will preface this by saying I use Yelp daily but I only write a review if I absolutely love a place. I absolutely loved Pescado Blanco! We can never find great Mexican food away from home so this was an amazing suprise! Large portions, family atmosphere, very attentive staff, and of course great food are a guarantee here. We ate here twice. The Chile shrimp tacos were amazing, as were the pulled beef tacos with black beans. My husband had the Verde enchiladas which he loved. My only complaint is that the salsa is by no means spicy, but they have a hot habanero mango chile in a bottle that does the job. I will definitely eat here every time we come back to Whitefish.

Stayed in Whitefish for a few days and ended up eating here twice since it was so good! Went with 3 other people and everyone had something they loved both times. The carrot habanero sauce was awesome and a nice touch on an already flavorful meal. The veggie dishes were plentiful and well thought out. The service was good and we scored outdoor seating on both occasions. I will definitely visit it again if I ever find myself in Whitefish!

  • Corrie S.

The prices are higher than your average Mexican restaurant, because this place is FAR better than your average Mexican restaurant. Verde chicken enchiladas are so flavorful! Seafood enchiladas are delicious. While I'm sure the Bison enchiladas and the Elk chorizo tacos are great, I'd have to say that those types of items are on the menu for tourists. Their chips and salsa are the most addictive I've ever eaten, and eaten, and eaten...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
