Completely different experience this time around. The service was great, the food was very good, and the whole experience was very much appreciated. I will be making another visit here on my next Missoula trip.

Four of us dined at The Keep tonight and by our waitress' admission they were not prepared for a crowd, warning us 30 minutes in that there might be a 40 minute wait for food. More on that in a bit. The restaurant appears very nice and is attached to what appears to be a beautiful golf course. We had reservations, got there early and were seated immediately. Our drink and appetizer orders followed very quickly. It was all down hill from there. The promised 40 minute wait turned into an hour. We were actually served 90 minutes after our arrival and 60 minutes after we ordered. The entire place was understaffed, it appeared and the restaurant was not particularly busy. The men ordered the rib eye steaks and both steaks were prepared properly but served with the wrong side dishes. Our wives ordered the duck which was reported to be excellent and the scallops which we were told were nothing special. We ordered desserts as well and I enjoyed the Huckleberry and Strawberry Crisp with ice cream. The crisp was clearly microwaved as it came out in very short order; too short to have been reheated in an oven. Overall, the meal was nothing special and while they comped our drinks and appetizers, we did not go there for free food, we went there because the place was supposed to be a very good restaurant. So, the food was nothing special and service was bad until our waitress found out our orders were wrong. It was at that point that she paid real attention to our table. We're not likely to try the place again as we are out of towners and Missoula has a number of fine dining experiences. Good luck if you go. I would recommend a slow night but my experience is that a good restaurant is even better when they are busy.

For the $$$$$ The Keep was just Ok. I got a ribeye steak medium rare & it was very good. They also put a very small portion of green beans, yellow & green squash on your plate that very fresh & delicious. The mash potatoes were cold with no flavor. The view was nice.

Friendly service and good food. It appears they have a fine dining restaurant and a pub area. We are outside with the pub like menu. Crab tacos were very good and the skillet salad was also delicious. The view was priceless, great place if you are from out of town. They accommodated a gluten free diet by substituting wheat tortillas to corn.

The food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. But for the price, they could give you larger portions. I walked away hungry and a empty wallet. This is a kids meal at an adult price.

Best view in town. Great place to catch up with friends and enjoy some very fine food. The chicken Marsala is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

We really love The Keep, the food never disappoints the service is very attentive and professional. The price is close to if not the same as some of the chain steak houses in town. We like to order what we like regardless whether or not it's on the menu, they always have what we want. Highly recommended for excellent food and an experience that doesn't disappoint.

I am a little disappointed. I had called a few months ago to purchase a gift certificate. I had left a voice mail stating I would like to purchase a gift certificate and a phone number to call me back, and no one ever responded? I had to buy a $500 gift certificate elsewhere. Had they responded, they would have made money on the $500, PLUS what our party spent over. Something so simple. It bummed me out, but they obviously don't need my business. This used to be my favorite..

This place keeps getting worse. Great location, nice staff, food is terrible. Mushroom appetizer uncooked, chicken cordon blue a fried wad of something that came out of a 50 pound box. It had a burned greasy breading that tasted like it was prepared in a commercial warehouse months earlier. Get a new chef or give it up.

Great neighborhood haunt for some of us. It is also a nice upscale treat for locals. Amazing view of the entire town at night, indoor fireplace and usually live music. Good wine selection and a full bar. The bar eating area is nice and casual but there is also formal dining. The menu is always first class but also has a burger if your not looking for duck. Amazing to think there is a golf pro shop in this place (downstairs),but a favorite for sure.

Fantastic lamb chops, and reasonably priced. A great wine list, and well made cocktails, with good bourbon selection. Pork belly appetizer was delicious. Main negative is that the sides were extremely small, just a few mixed veggies, and very small portion of rice, pasta, or potato. But the main dishes shined. Great, beautiful location, and cozy ambience.

It's just ok. Beautiful views and great service, but for the price ($37 for buffalo that was just alright) seems to be a bit pricey to me. Plus they skimp on sides. You can't even get a baked potato--just a tiny bit of mashed, or rice or a slightly bigger bit of pasta and a few green beans. I guess this would be fine if the flavors were amazing, but I found them very standard and not impressive at all. We had escargot and they were tough...we had clams and they were as well. The flavors here were better, but still at $15/$14 an appetizer it wasn't a lot of bang for your buck--which is what I want out of a decent restaurant. I have been here before and liked it much better...not sure if I will want to come back next time I am in town.

Consider this a high three knocking on the 4 door. Great views of the city lights at night and of googy golfers during daylight. Perched high on a hill this one-time residence was moved from the city to this location, burned down a couple of times and reserected. Very classy, esp for Missoula, a university town and Montana in general. Pricey, which gives it 3 stars because although the meals are good and the service appropriate, the value for price ratio is a bit too low for me. That said, the bar is very nice and menu pretty darn good with unusual and unusually prepared entres and appetizers...plus desserts. A great date place, ladies like it and it has a cozyness, esp in the winter.

Way overpriced! Snobs. Won't go back. The steak was cooked the way I ordered it but 2 of us ate there and cost over $100. There is a steak house in Lolo that is way better, bigger servings and much cheaper. Tastes better too.

First of all, I understand everybody has an off day, and I've only eaten there once, so take this for what its worth. I took my fiancé there for her birthday and she had fish and I had the buffalo (tenderloin I think). The service was great, but the food was only so so. For what it cost, I was disappointed in the food. I've heard good things about The Keep, but I was not impressed. I'll give it another try soon, hopefully I can rave about it next time.

I'm impressed with the food and service. The views are hard to beat as well. Everything was prepared superbly and the flavor was fantastic. As for Chris to be your server.

Went here for my birthday dinner while on a trip back to Missoula. We sat in the lounge area and got a window seat. The view is great, fun to watch people play golf- in May with jacekts, hats and mittens on. Food was good enough. Portions were just right. Our waitress seemed uptight at first but more relaxed as the night went on. Being from the Boston Area the prices seemed decent for portions. if this was the same type place in Boston prices would have been double so I am happy with that. I got baked brie to start as an app and it was good. It had a huckleberry topping (I think) and came with a sufficent amount of Carr type crackers. For my entree I got the scallops dish which was great. It came in a cream sauce and a side salad- your choice of caser, garden or house. I chose Caser. For dessert my husband and I split the cheesecake with carmel topping and i got an adult coffee drink which was tasty. My husband enjoyed his meal as well- he got buffalo wings to start and I am drawing a blank on what he got for his entree but he enjoyed it. More casual in the lounge, more dressy in the dining room area.

View is awesome, ambiance is great, but the service, to price, to quality ratio is just a little off. I have never had a bad dish here per-se, but I just don't think the prices quite warrant the quality of the food. Same goes for the service, have never had "bad" service, but the servers I have had here are not the same caliber you would expect to find for this price point (overly knowledgeable about food and wine and associated pairings, a "foodie" so to speak), they just seem a little, well, amateur. Also, the "desert cart" is a little more than tacky (may not still have this as it has been a while since I was last here) The prices (especially for Missoula) are reflective of a five star, renown restaurant; unfortunately what follows just doesn't quite add up. Probably worth trying for yourself, if not for the view and location alone, just don't expect to be blown away.

Great place to watch the sunset while enjoying the view of the city. I stopped in for a quick bite before having to leave town--as I almost always do--and had the best time. Great food and service! I recommend going on a Sunday and sitting in the bar. Ask the bartender-Chris to mix you his specialty...Mojito's. Yum!!! The bar also has a great menu and reasonable prices. I can't resist the Cajun Prawns or the Calamari.

My husband and I went here for are anniversary dinner. We set in the dinning area which was not very busy but the deck was. It has a beautiful view, food was good, and our server was very nice. The food was done well but sort of basic, thats the only reason I gave it a 4 not a five (The pairings were just what you would expect every where nothing exciting) Pricing is expensive but I would say it is worth it for the atmosphere. The price you pay for a nice fancy dinner. I think our waiter comped our dessert though which was nice :)

My H & I love to go out for martinis & apps every once in a while. This place may have the best in town (cant speak to Pearl or Scottys cuz they dont have martinis). We went here a couple months ago, had escargot, calimari & the beef thingy, all excellent. We went last weekend & this time got crabcake, wings & artch & mushroom thing - these were not as good. They were good but not excellent. This was the lounge, dont know about the main part. Also we found the prices to be on par w other upscale restaurants and the view cannot be matched. The only bad thing is the lounge, which is lovely & has a great outdoor patio, is poorly lit. I hate that.
