This place gets 5 stars just for serving an entire liver of fois grois. Yes, an entire liver folks. Not just the essence of fois grois mixed into a pate of cheese and other heavy items, it serves an actual 2"x3" piece of liver. Sure, it's fried but damn it's good. I got mine served with a mini biscuit that was just big enough to complement the organ. Oh and it's served with honey so you get sweet and savory. I also had the ceviche to start- it's not exactly your light, seafood mixed with lime style ceviche that you would find in Latin America. I would describe it more like a version of Tom Yum, with lots of shrimp and pineapples and avocado (ok so it's swimming in coconut milk). But it's good- just DON'T eat the peppers unless you want to choke to death on spice. Trust me, I tried eating a pepper not once, not twice, but 3 times.. And each time I was teary eyed and choking up a storm. I also got the flourless chocolate cake- which was also good.. I hear the mixed drinks are delicious... Didn't try these, unfortunately, but the bartenders sure do look fancy. And they look like they know what they're doing. I'm definitely coming back. This place is legit (coming from someone who breathed the overpriced dining scene in Chicago for 5 years)

Plonk is the kind of place I wish I could say I've never been to based on the music that's playing when you walk in. It's a wine bar, and the best thing it's got going for it is that the prices are high enough to keep out broke rednecks and obnoxious college kids. This gives way to an inevitable douche-vibe from the sweaty-palmed desperate dudes hitting on aged divorcees.

What a lovely surprise to discover on a business trip to Missoula. Food and service were top notch. Food pricing comparable to big city restaurants. Drink prices were reasonable compared to NYC, San Fran, Seattle etc. (and quality was similar so seemed like a bargain to me). Halibut entree and salad starters were great. I didn't find portions undersized as mentioned in several reviews. Servers and management were engaging and went out of their way to please. Several inquiries if all was to our liking but not obnoxious in their questioning. Would definitely stop back next time I am in town.

3 stars for food + 5 stars for drinks = my rating of an average 4 stars overall. My husband and I visited on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy at all, very open and airy with the big front window open - felt like you were eating outside but without the sun beating down on you and the wind. The building and inside are super cute, service was average I thought. My choices for the evening: Pink Panther cocktail, Huck Finn cocktail, Ploughman's Platter app (meat and cheese), Cornish Hen Paella. My husband had a Kettlehouse IPA that he said was "ok" and the halibut. My drinks were phenomenal - Huck Finn was one of the better mixed drinks I've ever had. Freaking delicious. On the Ploughman's Platter, I thought the meat was not that great but the cheese was heavenly! My husband liked everything on it. Our main courses were both decent but nothing spectacular or particularly noteworthy. I'm not going to complain about the prices like most other reviews as I believe that it all depends on what you're used to. Even in our not-at-all-fancy Rochester, MN mixed drinks always run between $8-$12 so this place was right on par with that. And I'm a big believer that you get what you pay for with food. Our bill was $90 for drinks, appetizer, and meals (pretty typical for us in our home area). If you want a less expensive version of the same quality and similar atmosphere, give Caffe Dolce a try (we had one drink each, antipasti app similar to the Ploughman's Platter, main courses, and gelato for $58). If interested, my review for that is at yelp.com/biz/caffè-dolce… .
(4)Wendy D.
The spring rolls were a bit dry, but the drizzle of sauce helped with that. A healthy appetizer to be sure. I ordered the ceviche as well and found it to be heavenly... A must try dish!
(4)Phillip W.
Highly overrated. Not wanting to become actual investors, and having had a late breakfast, two of us shared the Ploughman's Platter for $16. The food quality wasn't bad. But if you had to plough more than a four by six foot raised garden box on this meal, you'd be phoucked. As for the wine, a $5 glass of house red was truly plonk. Maybe even watered plonk at that. We continue to be amazed at what the traffic will bear here in Montana. The rubes are truly ripe for the picking.

Great patio, great artwork, great cocktails. However, food never meets expectations. $26 for cioppiono containing 3 mussels, 3 clams, 2 pinky sized chunks of an uncertain whitefish, and a couple chunks of stale bread labeled as panzanella salad, all floating in the equivalent of Campbell's tomato soup? No thanks. Will go for delicious drinks, then dinner somewhere more satisfying.
(2)Catherine A.
Excellent atmosphere, food and staff! One of the best places to go for good food and wine in Missoula. They also have real champagne.

I was only in town for a couple nights and I wanted to make sure I tried some of the local restaurants. I drove around for a while and looked at what was available through yelp and finally decided on Plonk. When I arrived there was no hostess so I made my way over to the sitting area and decided to take a seat. It took a while before I was acknowledged by the staff but when they finally came around they were nice and brought over a menu and a glass of water. He let me know that we were in between lunch and dinner so the regular menus were not available but that I can order anything from the bar menu. Upon review there were a few things that stood out so I decided to give one of the appetizers a try. I wasn't sure at this point if I was going to stay at this restaurant for dinner or if I was just going to have a light snack and then go somewhere else. I decided to try the Burata and tomatoes. This dish was absolutely delicious. It had four thinly sliced pieces of bread, the cheese was smooth and luxurious, the tomatoes were ripe and perfectly seasoned with plenty of pinenuts, and it came with some sort of meat that was salty and thinly sliced. Based on the success of the first dish I decided to stay at this establishment and make dinner out of the appetizers. So I decided to order the ceviche which was made with prawns and coconut milk. Now I have had a lot of ceviche in my lifetime. I am Mexican and Central American and I have traveled and am a connoisseur of sorts when it comes to ceviche. I have been to some of the best restaurants in San Francisco and had Peruvian ceviche which is one of my favorite ways of preparing this raw fish or shrimp dish. Hands down this was one of the best ceviche dishes I have ever had in my entire life. I tried to reconstruct the recipe while I was eating it because I want to go home and try to duplicate it for my husband. And if I am successful I will even make it for my daughter's birthday coming up in September. I love this dish; it was absolutely delicious. I also ordered a salmon salad which was on the menu and quite frankly I was so full with the first appetizer and the ceviche that I could not take another bite so I brought my salmon salad back to the hotel and will enjoy it for lunch tomorrow. In sum, Plonk is a wonderful restaurant and they have incredible drinks - -some of the best that I've ever had in my life. I have been to many restaurants but I have never been to a restaurant in Montana until just a couple nights ago and I have definitely had a wonderful experience and I am impressed with the level of cuisine in the small town of Missoula! I will look forward to my next trip!!! Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention Katie, the wonderful server who recommended all of these dishes. She was also one of the best servers I've ever had, so "thank you, Katie" for providing excellent service and making my dinner so memorable!
(4)Jeff B.
Best meal I've had in Missoula. In town for 2 weeks and had good options for dining but Plonk is the best. Had the roast chicken and arugula salad, which was fresh and flavorful. Finished withy the lamb belly, it was a terrific combination of flavors accented by the coconut curry sauce. For a drink I went with the maker's ginger. A little on the citrusy side but excellently crafted. The bar pays close attention to their craft!
(4)Nora M.
For starters, the food was amazing! Four stars! My Marinated Hanger Steak was upscale Santa Fe without a Tex-Mex feel. But, if you are going to plonk down $150.00 for dinner and drinks, you should have a server who is as in love with food as the chef. When I asked the server about the cucumbers in my entree, she didn't know, neither did she care. There was no, "Those are really nice, aren't they - let me ask." I'm not sure she even knew that there were little round cucumber halves in the dish. Maybe she was new, but she was not familiar with the menu ingredients, which should be a job requirement. And, she didn't even notice that she had the wrong ice cream. Other servers covered for her quite a bit. It's always great to see that in a restaurant. The server who brought the cheese definitely knew her cheeses - and loved them ... as a good server should! Both my husband and I decided we want the interesting server next time.
(4)Josh R.
Good wine list and drink menu. I'd recommend this place for drinks and appetizers more than I would for dinner or lunch.

No Bud Light. You're kidding me, right? You're in Montana, not Sonoma. Get real. I walked in after a wonderful dinner and got a pretty good flirtini... it was delicious and all, but after about two of those I was ready to wind it down a little bit and get a good old traditional Montana, American, delicious and simple Bud Light. I was surprised was the fact that they don't even carry this. They let me know that I could get that at all other bars in the area, just not here. I was thinking maybe I could settle for a Pacifico. But apparently didn't carry those either... As I was listening to wash up jazz and eating some flavored nuts, I kept wondering why I was sipping on a Stella, instead of a Bud Light. Suddenly it struck me. I had somehow managed to get myself stuck in a time warp, and I was back in Sonoma. Complete with white dresses and all. Please serve Bud Lights.

Great food and very refreshing cocktail selection, in an unlikely location :) If the weather permits, go up the stairs and enjoy the balcony!

Nowhere near as good as rated. My wife and I went there around 7:30 pm on a Friday. The place was attractive and about half full. I ordered the lamb chops, my wife a salad. My food was excellent which is the only reason they get three stars and not two. There were four lamb chops on my plate with risotto (which was spectacular). A "rack of lamb" is six, not four but of course they can define it any way they wish, I suppose but for $32 you really ought to spring for the entire rack. The minuses were what drove the rating down. The service was nothing special. I had to call back the waitress when she took our order because she didn't bother to ask me how I wanted my lamb prepared and the entire time we were there they played loud techno music to the extent that we could not talk. Are you are restaurant or an after hours club? Maybe the kids like going there for the music and the wine but then they probably can't afford the food. My suggestion is that during dinner hours you treat patrons like you are serving dinner.

Fun and funky place! Great atmosphere, excellent food and good service. I had the chicken arugula salad. It comes with apples and candied nuts... so tasty! The shrimp coconut appetizer (ceviche) was amazing and different from anything I have tried before. I ended my meal with a cappuccino and the flourless chocolate torte. I was not disappointed in any of the food. While I was not drinking alcohol tonight (early morning meeting tomorrow), I saw the drinks coming out. The bartender does a great job. I think the wine pour is pretty standard and the wine prices are high (except for the $5 house wine), so I would likely order a whole bottle to split with a friend when I return. And I will return! Great place. My only issue was my waitress was a little slow but overall, very friendly and knowledgable so she kind of made up for it.
(5)Ashley B.
Oh man, I'm still dreaming of Salma Hayek... The cocktail, that is. Get your mind out of the gutter. Their rendition of a mojito with jalapeno tequila was so. effing. good. I loved it so much I decided to have another with my Hanger Steak and skip the wine pairing. I also had their simple salad with baby kale and apricot which was rockin' on it's own. The interior is beautiful and I really got great service from all the adorably dapper bartenders. If I'm ever in Missoula again I will absolutely return.

Long time patron and plan on being a regular for a long time to come!

My boyfriend took me to the Plonk when we were visiting Montana earlier this month. We both fell in love with this place. Their drink and food menus are so enticing. Great ambiance, trendy decor, beautiful presentation of tasty food and delicious cocktails. We ordered tequila/espresso 'Speedball' cocktails and shared the black mushroom dip with some sort of toasted bread, foie gras, pork belly dish, and the butterscotch creme brûlée. All the cocktails and food we had ordered tasted complex and amazing. We would definitely come back here whenever we are in town again. Perfect date night for Foodies.
(5)Tiffany Y.
LOVE this place! The interior is super hip. We stopped in for lunch and had probably one of the best salads we've ever experienced: the nicoise salmon salad. We also had the delicious tuna tar-tar. Our third dish was the country fried foie gras. Ok, yes, I eat gluten and dairy free for the most part - but I can't say "no" to foie... so I guess I'm a bad person, too. It was good, but the foie got a little lost. GREAT service, fantastic drinks in a stylish environment. I can't wait to try Plonk in Bozeman!
(5)Joe B.
The environment is really upscle and the drink selection is the best in town. I think it may be a little overpriced for Missoula, but if you have money then check it out.

Good news first. The waitress, Jamie, was superb and should have 5 stars. Unfortunately, everything else was not great. Firstly the barman did not want to serve my date and insisted the waitress could take the order. The waitresses were all incredibly busy with parties of Graduates. Plus had it taken the order my date would have paid him and tipped him. On top of that the drink order was one draught beer and one sherry. The barman said they did not have sherry, but on looking at the drinks menu there were three on there and they had two of them. The sherry was $8 which was acceptable, but the beer was no more than 8 oz at a ridiculous price of $6. I ordered the Halibut which arrives with a small amount of salad green and four small slices potato which was supposed to be crisp. The fish was way over-cooked so back it went. A gentleman brought the next piece of fish to the table and that was also overcooked. Both pieces were dry So back it went again. The third piece of fish was a great improvement, although not perfect. I have to be honest the waitress was always pleasant through this whole unfortunate meal. My date ordered cioppino which whilst tasty the fish and the clams were overcooked, but not as badly as mine. The sauce that came with my fish was very tasty. Also plates were stone cold. We had read these Yelp reviews and as we were going to Missoula thought we would give this restaurant a try as it sounded really nice. This was not our experience. The cioppino was $26 and the halibut $29. We have no problem with paying any price for good food, but this was not good and the amount on the plate is very small and we are not huge eaters. We really appreciate the efforts of Jamie, the Waitress to get the chef to cook the fish as it should be cooked, but we will not be returning and would not recommend this place to our friends.
(2)Beth S.
I had the pleasure of having dinner at Plonk with a group of 8 people. The food selection is unique and it all sounded delicious. Everyone enjoyed their selection. The wine was great and several of us also had interesting cocktails. Everything is first class. If you want an excellent meal with great service, this is your place.
(5)Laura D.
A nice wine bar downtown Missoula. I found the service and ambience to be quite good, and prices were reasonable for the type of restaurant. My husband and I both had the special and found that it was outstanding. I would definitely go back for a high end dinner.
(4)Will A.
Fun place to visit. Great patio and good wine and beer selection. The cheese platter is highly recommended
(4)Jennifer T.
The food is above average and always served fresh. They plate it so it's pleasing to the eye. The menu is always changing so make sure to come back :) but be careful, It's easy to run up $100 tab here! Great wine selection too!
(4)Katherine G.
This was my first stop after arriving in Missoula for the first time. An easy walk from my hotel, the ambience was immediately welcoming. I sat at the bar and the waiter was very pleasant and helpful in navigating the local specials. I would not say I'm a wine snob but I did appreciate their wide variety from around the globe. They had a full appetizer, lunch, dinner, and dessert menu. There was pleasant music playing and it seemed really low-key. Upscale enough to feel like you were going someplace special but funky enough to feel like it was truly a Missoula icon. I had a Chinese green and kale salad with a maple vinaigrette topped with dried apricots and toasted slivers of almond. I supplemented this with a single cheeseboard at only six dollars which was a full array one cheese (I picked a Tallegio), crisp apple presented in the beautiful flower pattern, crusty mini baguette, and zippy toasted pepitas. I flanked this with a South African Sav Blanc, and then the house Plonk white which was supposed to be a Sav Blanc, but it was a little too buttery for my taste. However at six dollars I could deal. A little pricey for a weekly visit but I will certainly return!
(4)Jacob M.
It was a Monday night in Missoula. The bass-heavy sound system pumped RJD2 throughout the bar. A Heineken wielding homeless man danced outside. A bald mixologist rattled ice inside a silver tumbler. The gin and juice arrived. A fragrant sprig of rosemary dangled from the icy cup. The first sip revealed an expertly blended combination of grapefruit, lime, and simple syrup. Plonk is a bit of a black sheep in downtown Missoula. In a town where beer is king, a mixology parlor peddling $10 cocktails and top shelf wine seems...out of place. Bit therein lies the niche. Plonk's mixed drinks are the best in town-but they don't come cheap. At $7 the Gin and Juice is one of the cheapest cocktails on the menu. Is it worth trying once or twice? Absolutely.
(5)Randy P.
We had dinner and drinks last weekend with some friends from out of town. Dinner was delicious as usual. We had a couple different wines very good. They do however need an appetizer menu.
(4)Mikey X.
If you have a date and want to have a fancy night out, but don't know the difference between a cosmopolitan and a mojito, Plonk's is the place for you. Their menus feature handy subtexts explaining each dish, cocktail, or beer. The bartenders/waiters are all equally versed in the menu, and eagerly answer any questions you might have. And, of course, there's literally pages of wine for every price range.
(5)Doug S.
I was with a group of about 12 on last Saturday night in the basement wine room. We were treated to a 5 course meal, including 4 wine pairings before dessert. Everything was fabulous, we will certainly recommend this place highly in the future. The service was excellent and the food was superb!
(5)Jeffrey P.
First time here--drinks were very reasonably priced (beer $4-5). We had the burratta plate which came with a nice tomato, hearts of palm, and basil with olive oil salad. Great flavor. For the entree, we had the bison tenderloin and waygu skirt steak. Both were cooked well and were delicious. Both definitely recommend. Overall, portions are not massive but are not skimpy either. Price is appropriate if not a little inexpensive for the quality.
(5)Dagmara M.
Best meal in Missoula. Plonk's spring menu is well paired, perfectly prepared and delicious. It took them a quick minute to catch up to my expectations, but this season has swept me off my feat, graduating Plonk to the top of Missoula's most delicious food spots. Locally sourced when available, Plonk's simple, yet creative concoctions hit the spot and the caramelized sugar on their crème brûlée is perfection. Try the Burratta and Beets, the Land & Sea dish & the veggie pancake in the bottom right hand corner of the menu. Rumor has it that the rabbit is great too, but it seems to sell out quickly, so get in early to catch it.
(5)John M.
Light on the portion for the price. Everything else rated excellent. I had the foie gras - goose or duck liver with toasted quinoa. As another reviewer commented, the portions are not small, they are tiny. I got an appetizer-sized portion in an entree. I was suprised. Since it takes so much effort to put these dishes together, it seems the service costs are the highest component. Putting an adequate amount of food on the plate is the least of worries. I would not eat here again, even if someone else paid for it: Simply a bad value.
(4)SRose W.
I had been here once just for drinks but visited again recently for dinner and drinks after a Griz game. I had two Gin & Juice cocktails; while a little overpriced, yes ($7, the cheapest craft cocktail on the menu), I absolutely adore that cocktail and will jump at the chance to have it again. At first we were a little skeptical about the menu since their claim to fame is 'wine bar,' but we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the skirt steak for dinner and let me tell you it was delicious! Perfectly prepared, matched with a yummy corn/peas succotash and fingerling potatoes. Would definitely order again. Parents had the prawns and halibut; both said they were to die for. I commented that I appreciated not having to salt my food! Someone knows how to cook in that kitchen... The service...was a little sketchy when we were there. We sat and didn't have our cocktail order taken for 7-8 minutes, which seems like forever when you're thirsty! Then we sort of got lost in the shuffle as far as hearing the special but eventually landed with one waitress who did a nice job, except for the 10 minute wait to receive our bill. We hate that! So, she ended up with an average tip. Do know that you don't need to be dressed up to go here. It may seem like it but this is Missoula folks, come as you are and enjoy yourself. Will go back for that steak and that cocktail!
(4)Walter H.
Walked to Plonk for a drink after a concert around 9:45 pm on a weeknight, and found a beautiful room with quiet ambience and a very knowledgable bartender. I had a Manhattan that was well made with Bulliet Rye and Carpano. My wife had a Cherry Sour concocted with a house made cherry infused vodka. There were 3 or 4 couples there, good soft background music, and no TV. This is a really nice cocktail lounge, not a sports bar. The kitchen was still open, but we had already eaten before the concert.

We spent a lazy summer afternoon here, lingering over a long lunch. I had the Ploughman's platter, my husband had the GFB. Both were FANTASTIC. The service was excellent. It was crazy cheap by Los Angeles standards, and the food was better than many LA places. I would eat here every day if I could!

Rather disappointed. From the menu, it looked like it would be great. We sat down, we ordered drinks. My spouse's came out wrong on the first try, but the server was very apologetic, and it was busy. I tried the flight of Zinfandel, none of which were any good. When we went to order dinner, we were informed that they couldn't do any substitutions at all. My spouse has allergies and all we were after was a choice of a different side. They couldn't even do fries because "everything is portioned out at the beginning of the night." A side salad, fries, we would have taken anything, but apparently that was way too complicated for this restaurant. So, we went across the street to Sushi Hana and they were fantastic.
(2)K S.
I recommend Plonk for cocktails and starters with the caveat that the kitchen's output can be mixed. The fact that they have burrata is huge, and the burrata and beats plate is very smartly balanced. One time it was really over-salted and not so enjoyable, though. You should also call ahead to make sure they have it as they source it from Vermont so it's not always available. The harissa rubbed tenderloin skewers are amazing. The cocktails are yummy. Gfc is, well, a good fing cocktail. The back tables along the south wall aren't good for conversation (crazy loud echo chamber), and the high tables with stools are ok but not that comfortable. The north wall in the back seems to be the best, but can be cold during the winter. Dinner doesn't seem worth it. The entree prices might work if the service were better. It's just not attentive enough. To have to flag down your server repeatedly when you're paying around $100 for a meal doesn't make sense. And the entrees are fine, but not worth your hard-earned cash the way they're priced.

When we decided to have our wedding in Missoula, we did not have time to make a trip there and survey our dining options. We took a chance based on online reviews and went with Plonk. We were more than pleased with the results. Plonk created a custom menu that took into account our particular preferences. Plonk set up their private dining room in the cellar beautifully, with fairy lights wrapped around the ceiling beams; they also coordinated getting our table arrangements set up with our florist. The food and wine pairings were wonderful - particular favorites were the navy bean falafel and the smoked steak with olives and pickled mustard seeds. Everything was flavorful and well presented. Thank you, Plonk, for making our wedding reception dinner a night to remember.

One of my favorite places in Missoula to get a mixed drink or a glass of wine. They serve excellent food with a great atmosphere, always an experience worth your time. Centered right on the main strip (Higgins) in Missoula, not to be missed while traveling through town or on a business trip.
(4)Ms. V.
Definitely my favorite new spot in town. You truly feel like you stepped off hippyish Higgins in Missoula into a truly urban, upscale spot. Great music, exceptional food, and hands-down the best cocktails in the area.
(5)Mandy G.
My boyfriend & I came here for a drink & appetizers/desserts. The atmosphere is sophisticated & fancy yet feels warm & comfortable. I got the flourless chocolate torte which was very delectable & my boyfriend tried the crabcakes which he enjoyed as well. This is a wine-o's paradise! They have a large wine selection from all over the world. My one complaint is that the drinks are very pricey. My boyfriend got a mixed drink which was very small & was $12. It was indeed a good drink but most definitely not worth $12. I've never eaten dinner here, but this is the perfect place to go on a date or with a small group of people for appetizers or desserts & to sip on a nice glass of wine.
(3)Rob J.
Excellent atmosphere, food, and service. Highly recommend a glass of wine with the meat and cheese platter for a great start to your time at Plonk.

Even though they don't like to admit it, Bozeman and Missoula have a lot in common. Both have excellent public universities, and both are located in beautiful Rocky Mountain terrain. Sure, Missoula trends to the liberal, Pacific NW while Bozeman resembles Aspen, but these are more stereotypes than anything else. Both are Montana through and through. And both now have a Plonk wine bar as part of their nightlife offerings. Wine bars are not for everybody, and Missoula has its share of dives, student bars, and local microbreweries, so that's not really an issue. Plonk adds an extra element into the mix, with good food and excellent by-the-glass offerings. It's a little exotic, but it's Missoula we're talking about, not Polson, after all. We can handle exotic. I liked the vibe here, which was bustling even on a Tuesday night. The wines were very good, the seating options varied, and the service was polite, prompt, and professional. It takes all kinds to make an urban landscape really shine, and Missoula is definitely a place where hip culture and cowboy attitudes can mix. No, it's not Bozeman, and thank goodness for that. But it can handle a wine bar or two without losing its soul. Plonk seems to fill a niche, and that's not a bad thing, at all.

The coconut lime cocktail was amazing. We had the pork chop with peach and hazelnut pesto. We are from Austin and are pretty spoiled when it comes to food- Plonk was no disappointment and rivaled a good night out in Austin. Will go next time I'm in Missoula.

I tried 4 cocktails here: gin & juice, maker's ginger, salma hayek (a jalepno-infused tequila mojito), and anton chigurh (tequila-mezcal cocktail). I thought they were all really damn good. I was also impressed with the speed at which the bartender mixed these. For actual nutrition, I tried the harissa rubbed beef tenderloin skewers and the ploughman's platter (3 cheeses, 3 cured meats, bread, sliced apples, and condiments). The skewers were tasty, albeit small, but the platter was perfect for my above-average appetite. The ambience and is fancier than other places I've visited in Missoula and it's nice to change things up.

Ok, this place was great! A dear friend suggested I come here when visiting Missoula a couple weeks ago. I sat in the bar, read my book, drank a wine flight, and snacked on food. The server was fantastic about letting me just kind of mosey my way through the meal and stopped to chat about the book I was reading. Really enjoyable meal and a beautiful restaurant.

One of my favorite places in Missoula. The best Manhattans I've had in the area, with what look to be house-made maraschino cherries, an inventive cocktail list, and eclectic, perfectly prepared small plates and entries. I usually get their meat & cheese plate for an appetizer, which is a generous portion of interesting and diverse cheeses, spreads, sausages, and other meats. For entrees, the best ribeye I've eaten in Missoula came from Plonk (I think it was a special), and a salmon special I tried recently was very good as well. The atmosphere is chill, not too loud, and service has always been attentive.

Love Plonk. Great ambience, large space, great wine and options. The food is unique and very good. We were traveling from California and stopped in for lunch and had such a great experience we went back for dinner that night. The martinis were unique and tasty and the attention to detail was appreciated. The owner even helped us find a hotel to stay because we were passing through the area...talk about hospitality! The burrata app-was great. My boyfriend is a meat eater and we always go out for filets and he got the bison I think--if I recall. He said it was the best tasting meat he'd ever had. It's a socially forward, hip restaurant...well done.

I am a huge foodie and have lived in New York, Philadelphia, DC, and San Francisco. I also travel a lot for work to Seattle, Portland Miami, Chicago, Denver, and Miami. I have to say this is as good as it gets. This is where thought is put into everything from the sauces to the garnish. While I ate extensively from the menu one of my favorite dishes was the carrott cake. Yes, carrot cake. The cake was perfectly executed but they then deconstructed the cake serving a carrot puree sauce with apple gelee and and a nut compote garnish. I felt like I was at a Vetri or Garces restaurant back in Philadelphia. Cocktails were also made to perfection as well. I ate here twice and twice at the Bozeman location so I can vouch for their consistency as well. Tip: Go on Monday Nights for service industry night for an amazing cheap meal. Food 5 Stars Atmosphere 4 Stars Service 5 Stars Value 4.5 Stars

Worst Salmon dish ever, dry, salty, fishy taste, on dried out cornbread with mayonnaise type sauce. Drinks were tasty as usual but wondering if the chef took the night off. Friends are saying food is hit or miss, guess we missed.
(1)Randy S.
They are in the pocket! The menu is varied and has something for everyone. The cheese selection is amazing and fresh. The bartenders have honed their skills and I couldn't ask for a better place to have a cocktail and way, way above average choices of things to eat! It's a no-brainer --another great summer in Missoula!

This restaurant is in a lovely old building, making for an aesthetically-pleasing eating environment. We sat at in the bench-style seating across from the bar, which was surprisingly cozy. Our hostess was friendly and informative. I ordered a cucumber lemonade, which was fine. I was hoping it would be a little sweeter; it tasted like vodka with some muddled cucumber. Not bad at all, but a little sweet lemonade taste would have been nice. I ordered the gnocchi for dinner, which was pretty tasty. It was topped with shredded shortrib with I hadn't seen before. It was very hearty. I don't have any specific cons for this restaurant. Wasn't one of my favorites, but I'd eat here again! Their menu of house cocktails was really interesting and it'd be fun to try them all (one at a time, of course!)!
(4)Diana S.
Very stylish ambiance and amazing drinks!!! We recommend the Sage Margarita and the Bloody Mary!

I wanted a nice night out with unique and tasty food, a good selection of wine, and an upscale but chill atmosphere. My first choice was the Red Bird, but since they aren't open on SUNDAY, we decided to give Plonk a try. It was WELL worth it! We had a large array of the appetizers: Their salad with beets and fresh smoked mozzarella, the chef's choice cheese tray, scallops with foie gras, crab cakes, buffalo empanada, flourless chocolate torte, tiramisu, and profiteroles. Not to mention Malbec, Cabernet, Aged Port... Everything was quite good, a little light on the seasoning for the crab cakes but well balanced flavors, service was attentive and very friendly, atmosphere was relaxed but sophisticated. My only complaint would be that the profiteroles were dry, chewy and overcooked, (and I did let them know kindly) though the frozen cream filling had wonderful flavor. Our bill was a little steep, but that was more due to having to try a huge portion of the menu rather than it being overpriced. I would definitely go back and try more things.

In short. Not for the faint in wallet. Everyone who is anyone must try this place once, then they will be hooked. This place will exceed your every expectation. In long. The atmosphere is very warm, contemporary, and sophisticated. The wait staff is great, except for one lady who is way to arrogant about being a server for the past 20 years (the typical know it all, seen it all, can't tell me anything new type). The drinks are mind blowing. I have tried a large portion of the list, and I still have too many favorites. It is easier for me to tell you what drinks I avoid. I avoid anything with gin in it, but that is just because of my total distaste for gin. The food fits the build as well no complaints.
(5)Laura J.
Great service, amazing atmosphere. Got the cheese board (surprise selections by the chef) and OMG! Yummy. My friends got the G.F.C. Great effing cocktail. Delish!! Can't wait to go back!
(5)Bryan G.
I'm not from Missoula but have lives there 4 years now. That said, the food in the area has been so so from someone that has lived in the South and traveled the World. I tried Plonk in Bozeman first a few years back and was pleased to see Missoula open one. It is very good and exceptional level of service and fine dining. It's my wife and I's go to place now in Missoula- if the boys are not with us because it's pretty pricy.
(4)Natalie H.
They have great drinks. However, it is over priced for drinks. The food is mediocre at best. Drinks are good, but be prepared to drop $50 minimum. Waitresses tend to be snobby and call you honey.
(2)Kerry G.
I want to thank Brett for his quick reply and attention. As a patron it is extraordinary that the owner of the establishment, took the time to personally respond to my comments. That's why I'm revising my rating and we will give Plonk another visit.

Great cocktails and wine. Food OK. Very pricey.
(4)Dean M.
Been here several times and the food is consistently fantastic. Cocktails are great, too. The upstairs outdoor patio is a hidden gem in Missoula. We recently attended a winemaker's dinner and had an incredible experience. We got to meet Chef and the winemaker and the food and wine were incredible, as is the wine cellar downstairs. Thos is definitely a hot, new spot and it's great to have something like this in Missoula.
(5)Maureen T.
Really good. Great atmosphere. Delish food. Nice wine selection - love the Textbook Chardonnay on a hot day. Can't wait to go back!
(5)William B.
Lovely room, and just-as-lovely shaded terrace upstairs. Creative cocktail and food ideas, and results mostly quite good. One complaint in our group about the buffalo skirt steak's toughness. But the issue was handled gracefully by the man in charge.
(4)Adam H.
Very nice. The Crown Royal and water I ordered was the tastiest drink I have had in years. So there is a few reasons this had happened. One the staff was very friendly and entertaining or the ambiance caused the tasty drink. Which by the way is not very hard to make. Its Crown Royal with.....water. Believe it or not its a difficult drink to pour right. Too much crown makes the drink very spicy and not really enjoyable to drink or sip on. Too little is well flavored water.. The bar tender at Plonk got the mixture just right and I enjoyed every moment of the night. The food was fantastic and served in rectangular dishes....I love that. It's uniquely original. There is a comfortable lounging area where socializing would take place or the bar, and of course if I remember a library of books. I think I would spend much time here socializing and lounging if I lived in Missoula but I don't so that will have to wait or another time. :)

***WARNING*** If you like standing around and hovering like a vulture waiting to swoop in for the kill on a seat this is your place. It's first come first serve. Now with that being said, the atmosphere was bar setting very noisy so be ready to talk very loud. Staff was friendly but busy, don't try to strike up a conversation, but there were some good points. The drinks and food were excellent they arrived faster than expected with the over crowded placed. Priced at $15 to $35 per plate drink comparable to other bars. Our waitress was awesome and very knowledgeable of the menu. I will go again but during the week and hope it's not as crowded.
(4)Cookie M.
Amazing drinks with amazing bartenders!
(5)Patrick L.
Had a wonderful experience at plonk! Our server Jess was absolutely phenomenal! She approached the table at just the right times and took very good care of us. We loved the vast selection of cheeses and the rest of the food was spectacular! We will see you again soon Plonk!
(5)Jen B.
Friendly service and great atmosphere (both inside and on rooftop). Love ending the day with a cocktail and apps here.
(5)Jim R.
Wide selection of wines, delightful bartender named Stephan, enjoyed an array of cheeses that paired nicely with a Tempranello. Enjoyed our time on a slow Sunday afternoon. Great mojo, mixing French motif and Montana flair.
(4)Walker T.
A dose of yuppy Bozeman in the heart of Missoula. Very intentionally high class hip. Plonk originated in Bozeman and the Missoula location is nearly identical. It does have its own chef and menu. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The lamb, in particular, is very tasty. The cocktails are also clever albeit expensive. Great wine selection. Very attractive waitresses and decor. Cool bartenders. My only criticism is that the lighting is too dim, which makes reading the menu difficult. (I have 20/20 vision).
(4)Kathleen A.
This place is amazing. You need to go here. The drinks are phenomenal and the bartenders know their stuff. They had a sage-infused tequila cocktail that I wanted but one ingredient was on my no-list, so I talked it over with the bartender and he customized my drink, it was delicious! I had the pork-belly skewers, absolutely to die for. It was so good that we came back for dinner. Again the bartender impressed me with his knowledge of wine and helped me pick a french wine and gave me tasters of the 2 he recommended. I had the ahi tuna (again with my paleo restrictions, he customized my order) and it was honestly the best ahi I have ever eaten. The chef is a total gem, whoever he is. My BF is a beer conniseur and was very happy with his beer selections. He had the bison skirt steak - the meat was cooked perfectly but he felt the seasonings were unnecessary - the bison flavor should stand on it's own. We will definitely come here again when we are in town.
(5)Jayne T.
Wow we were driving through and wanted a martini and dinner and boy did we make a good choice ,food was fantastic 5 star !! Great Martini , wonderful service and even the chef James came to the table when we complimented the server on how delicious the pork and fish special was prepared . Delicious

My wife and I finally got a date night saturday may 25 2013 and we spent it at Plonk, and it was definitely worth it!! We were greeted immediately and were able to sit in the front of the restaurant where the front windows were wide open and the amazing montana air was blowing through. We started out with an espresso martini and a pink panther martini and wow!!!! The best infusions I have ever tried. Our waitress was super professional and on point all through our time here. For appetizers we had the tequila lime crab cake and seared prawns both of which just melted in your mouth. My wife isn't a huge fan of avocado but she absolutely loved how all the ingredients just set her taste buds off! We then ordered a beef tenderloin and the salmon roulade which by the way is absolutely fresh!!! As a matter a fact it was brought to our attention that the salmon was never frozen and just the day before was being caught in Alaska and flown to the plonk here In missoula. When we recieved our entree the beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection a perfect mediun rare and when slicing through it it just fell apart and it was extraordinary in taste and the mash potatoes were to die for. Our slamon was cooked to perfection as well as you put your fork into it it just open right up and the asparagus and polenta were excellent combination with it. For the food and drinks that are served in this restaurant plus atmosphere and service the price is very reasonable if you have not given plonk a try it is a definite MUST.!!!!
(5)Jamie P.
(5)Mel S.
This place is legit (coming from someone who breathed the overpriced dining scene in Chicago for 5 years)
(5)Jeff B.
(4)Alexander P.

(4)Lisa D.
(4)Amandine R.
(1)Idan F.
Great food and very refreshing cocktail selection, in an unlikely location :) If the weather permits, go up the stairs and enjoy the balcony!
(5)Mark S.
(3)Susan R.
(5)Garrett G.
Long time patron and plan on being a regular for a long time to come!
(5)Yvette G.
(4)Izzie S.
(4)Cookie M.
Amazing drinks with amazing bartenders!
(5)Katherine G.

Excellent atmosphere, food, and service. Highly recommend a glass of wine with the meat and cheese platter for a great start to your time at Plonk.

Definitely my favorite new spot in town. You truly feel like you stepped off hippyish Higgins in Missoula into a truly urban, upscale spot. Great music, exceptional food, and hands-down the best cocktails in the area.

Great service, amazing atmosphere. Got the cheese board (surprise selections by the chef) and OMG! Yummy. My friends got the G.F.C. Great effing cocktail. Delish!! Can't wait to go back!

Had a wonderful experience at plonk! Our server Jess was absolutely phenomenal! She approached the table at just the right times and took very good care of us. We loved the vast selection of cheeses and the rest of the food was spectacular! We will see you again soon Plonk!
