When we walked in the hostess was on the phone... for a long time. We asked for a booth and she took us to the bar, why did I wait if I wanted to sit in the bar!?! Then we sat for a while until the waitress finally showed up and explained they were doing a shift change. They're kind of retarded with the way they do things but when the food finally got to the table it was good. So over all it was ok but they could definitely do a better job greeting the guests.

The meal and service was great . The issue was the chairs are horrible we had 4 chairs out if 6 that were so bad we thought we were going to fall. How can you enjoy a meal when your thinking your chair will collapse .

Went here for dinner on a recent trip. Derive was extremely slow and dinner took forever, food was ok. My salad was a little lacking in taste and quality. My daughter loved her cheese pizza. I also got the artichoke angel hair pasta which was a bit more oily than I am used to from visits to other locations. Basically it got the job done but wasn't a great experience.

Prompt and courteous delivery to our hotel. Very well prepared seafood pasta dishes and good salad for 99 cents extra. No negatives and better than expected.

Passing through and needed a place to eat after 10pm. Great service and beer selection. Had a darn good dinner salad, the pecan encrusted chicken.

Out of the four times we ate at this place we noticed way to much onion in EVERYTHING old tasting and dry noodles stale bread but as I said we only tried it four times

Quality of food is always excellent, I love eating here with my family as they have great selections for italian entrees. The bread and oil is delicious and I have never been disappointed in my meals. The lobster raviolli is the best!

I compare this place to Olive Garden. If you like Olive Garden you should like it here. Pros. Food was good. Great beer. Prices not bad Cons. Service was slow. Wife didn't care for her main dish and didn't eat it, no offer to reduce the price. Would eat here again.

Food was delicious. Customer service was not very good. Asked for a booth and it was in the bar, waitress was not friendly. The bar seemed to be social time for employees, very unprofessional.

I LOVE this Johnny Corinos! I eat there every time I'm in town and have never had a negative experience. This time was no different, we were very happy! Great service and great food. The prices aren't bad either! We tried the family platter this time and fed 3 of us with soup and salad for $30 and leftovers to go home! Monday's family platters are half off Wow!

  • Shannon T.

Great food and service. I'd recommend coming during non peak times, service is more rushed when they're busy. Love their mini deserts! Perfect for those (like me) who want something sweet but don't don't have room for more food or don't want all those extra calories!

Pretty irritated that all of a sudden they dont deliver to our address when they just did last week. It's incredibly frustrating and now they deliver right near our house but not out to our house. One of the great things about johnny carinos was that they delivered to our house...now that they dont we probably wont ever eat here.

Have been here a number of times for lunch and for dinner. Always busy with great wait staff and a simple and consistent menu along with reasonable prices. Full bar and plenty of seating is appreciated. On December 3d I had just flown into Missoula and before making the hour drive to our home thought we would eat at Johnny Carino's. It turned out that we were the only people out of uniform that crowded night. Purple was in vogue as it was the University of Montana football fans packing every seat after the quarter-final playoff game. Montana won, handily and the crowd was quite jovial. The waitstaff was hustling and so was the kitchen. It was a madhouse. When we got our food of meat lasagna and cheese raviolis they were luke warm at best. It took some time to find out waiter and when he heard our complaint he immediately took up our plates and returned to the kitchen. Rather quickly he returned with piping hot meals and later with a take-away bag containing our original servings. Why? He said they would simply be thrown out and thought that we would enjoy them reheated at home. What a thoughtful, considerate person was Zach S. And this kind or service is typical in our Johnny Carino's experiences. The food is good and portions more than satisfactory. Worth the wait.

Ordered food to be delivered to our hotel since we did not have a car. A good choice! Try the spicy shrimp and chicken - it is the right amount of spice. Shrimp was cooked just right. They send you a large portion of bread and extra parmesan cheese. They offer mini desserts which is nice too when you want something sweet but not an over the top huge slice of cake etc after your meal. The people who post about carb overload confuse me - what would you expect from an italian restaurant like this?

    (4)
  • Bri O.

LOOOOOVE the Chicken Marsala and the Stuffed Baked Mushrooms! My hubby and I go here all the time and I always order that! It's amazing!

    (5)
  • Brooke C.

If you are looking for a heavy meal where your veggies are drenched in butter and oil and they put Parmesan cheese on everything, including their ribs, then this is the place for you. I was pretty unimpressed; however, the wait staff were very friendly and we had fast service.

  • Orphanthal J.

Pretty good food. Fair but quick service. Fair price. Will probably go back.

  • Lacey C.

This place isn't Italian food--it's more like Italian-American fusion. Sometimes it's ok, but mostly it's just white pasta and melted cheese. The bread they give you before the meal is hopelessly pre-frozen. The salad is iceberg or a weak Caesar. And everything is usually pretty expensive. It's just not great.

    (1)
  • Carla M.

I have been to many Carino's and this one is by far the worst. After sitting for at least 25 minutes and asking for bread numerous times, it was brought out half frozen. Our salad was brown on the edges, and service was extremely slow. Watch out for the wobbly chairs they have at their tables, very unsafe! They should eally disappointed with this place!

  • Tom M.

Food here is ok, the staff here is unfriendly. Took my wife here for her birthday and our server Ignored us the whole time. I would understand if they were busy, but it wasn't. The american couple sitting next to us got the servers full attention. We were there for about an 1 1/2, just waiting. When we got our food we took a few bites then left. It was not a good vibe, very disappointed. She did not deserve a tip, but my wife left a 5 cent tip anyways.

I come here for the $7 unlimited bread, soup and salad deal for lunch a lot and love it. Our servers have always been friendly and courteous making sure our soup and salad always comes swiftly. During my last visit, we were informed about their pretty good happy hour running from 4 - 6pm and 9 - close everyday and they have half priced appetizers and $3 pints of beer! I've had other things from the menu here and have usually found it very tasty. I highly recommend this place for the food and the comfortable atmosphere.

  • Patrick H.

Carb overload! This is your spot if you want to get your fill of pasta, white bread, and sugary daquari-style drinks. The unlimited salads that you can add to your entree are actually pretty good, but the family platters we ordered were just OK. The spaghetti and meatballs was undersalted and bland, while the Skilletini was overly salty. These 2 family platters were more than enough for my family of 5 adults, and we had another full serving leftover. Our server was OK, but the kitchen was slow to get our salads and entrees. I saw another table get a pitcher of a red and white swirled frozen drink. I'm sure they are tasty but a pitcher for two people seemed like overkill. Brain freeze!

In my opinion, a comparison to Olive Garden. Great white sauces (huge fan of Alfredo sauces) and pretty good calamari. Spicey shrimp and chicken is one of my favorites. I had the chicken Marsala tonight and I think I caught them on a bad night....it was VERY salty but yet had a slight bitter taste from the wine. My taste buds were going nuts. The presentation of it was below par... In the words of chef ramsey "it looked like someone threw up on my plate" ha My sister had the same dish at a different location this week and she said it was to die for. I would be willing to give it another chance. No doubt ill definitely go back again.

Ordered food for takeout from Carino's after a long 13 hour drive, and was very disappointed. We ordered soup, chili, calamari, salmon and shrimp salad, and manicotti. They were out of soup and chili, the calamari was clearly out of a bag and microwaved, and the manicotti was overcooked. The salad was seemingly fresh, but I guess it's hard to mess up a salad. Hopefully they're in house dining is a better experience, but I doubt I will ever be in Missoula again.

Average Americanized Italian food. I only ate here because someone took me there as we were driving through town. I had the eggplant parmesan based on another person's review. It was tasty but not legendary or anything. Cesar salad was drenched in dressing and I still have bad breath from it a day later. At least half of the romaine lettuce was browning at the edges.

We arrived after the dinner rush, and although the parking lot appeared full, we were seated immediately. When our server showed up, she was impatient to take our order. Because this was our first time, we wanted to review the menu. However, we got the distinct impression we were an imposition to our server, so hurriedly made our choices. Upon taking our order, the server brought some bread, which was slightly warm, crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside - quite tasty, overall. We didn't have any silverware, so simply tore the bread with our hands, presuming this was the way it was intended to be eaten. We waited over 25 minutes for our meal, and when it finally arrived, both entrees were cold (we ordered a panini and a pizza). We still didn't have any silverware, napkins, salt, or pepper on the table, but could not locate our server to request these items for some time. Meanwhile, our drinks also remained empty and in need of filling. I'm sure the food would have been good, had it been warm, but since it wasn't, we simply pushed our dishes away and waited for our bill. We waited, and waited, and waited, and waited some more. Our server was too busy sweeping to be bothered to respond to our requests for her attention. We began to wonder if she was being passive aggressive in an attempt to punish us for arriving too close to closing time, but when we asked the host, learned that closing time was still an hour and 15 minutes away. Our server finally approached the table and asked if we needed boxes. We responded that we did not need boxes, but would like our check. The server went back to sweeping for another ten minutes, and then brought our bill. Overall, completely unimpressed with both service and food, and extremely regretful that we had abandoned our prior plans to go to Hooters instead. At least there we know what to expect and the food is warm when it arrives. Won't visit again.

Poor Missoula! You have the worst Carino's. I know: I've been to them from Florida to Washington state and none can even come close to the crappy food at this one. We had eggplant parmigiana - dry and overcooked; Skilletini combo - unedible. Sorry Missoula!

  • Brandon W.

Tried this place for the first time tonight. It was a little expensive, but not atrocious. I wasn't expecting home-made pasta or anything like that, so the sort of generic quality of the food didn't bother me. It tasted good and it filled me up. Service was quite good. My drink was always filled. Anyone that comes to this place expecting gourmet Italian must also be baffled when their McDonald's french fries appear to have been frozen before they were cooked.

  • Conrad H.

The only reason this restaurant got this high of a review was the food was good. The main reason that I rated it this low was the service was poor at best. It was actually not that bad, my drink was always full. It was more of the waitress made us feel like we were inconveniencing her for asking for things like a straw for my 14 month old's milk. That sort of thing.

monday is family night and family platters are 50% off. Chicken parmesan, spicy shrimp and chicken are great. Very inexpensive dinner for 7 people. Good food. Especially the italian nachos. I would give them five stars if the food was healthier and a little less reliant on cream sauces.

If I had to choose my last meal on earth, it would be the eggplant parmesan from Johnny Carino's. Also their appetizers and deserts are to die for. Plenty of seating so there is usually not a wait.

Went to JC's before I was going to catch a flight. I made the waiter aware of this and the food came out very fast. My girlfriend had soup that she loved and I had mozzarella sticks. Everything was very tasty, but the mozzarella sticks were $7.50, for only 5 of them. I found this to be way expensive. Looking at the menu, it looked like other items were overpriced as well.

Delicious!!! The Italian dressing has a great kick. I had the skillitini with spicy sauce and sausage, peppers and onions. Enough food for 2-3 meals.

  • Andre F.

Really bland food. Spaghetti and meatballs were nearly tasteless. the spaghetti was overcooked and was a poor quality, it had nearly no flavor. The meatballs were bland and lacked any kind of flavor. The bread is really good. the potato soup was very creamy and quite tasty with nice bacon in the soup. The pot roast with potatoes was okay. At $14 it probably should have had some vegetables included. Pot roast and potatoes with a bit of mushroom pieces on it wasn't really a 14 dollar meal.

Food was good. I was expecting food like Olive Garden so was very pleased with everything I got. We tried 2 different soups & both were a bit disappointing but not bad. I would come here again. The price was good & the portions were very big. Service was a bit slow

Was pretty good food about what you expect from a chain restaurant. Service was ok, not many people in the place so quiet. Pretty much a glorified Olive Garden

Bland food, very little meat in the meat dishes. Olive Garden is better. The belinin drinks are good when the machine is working.

Was pretty disappointed with my chicken fettuccine tonite, it tasted like one of my lean cuisines. No taste, very bland, way too much sauce. My boyfriend still loved his bacon Mac & cheese. The hostess was rude but our server was nice.

Clean establishment , close to hotel , lots of parking , Helpful , and attentive waitress . But sadly the Chicken Marsala suck ! It's not hard to make Chicken Marsala , it's one of the easiest menu dishes to create . I received a plate of salt with chicken . Shame , I say Shame to call it Chicken Marsala . If you choose to dine at this establishment I recommend the salad and bread .

  • Julie C.

I don't often eat frozen dinners, but I have had several that were better than the chicken Parmesan dish that my family ate here tonight. It lacked nuance of flavor, our salads were lackluster iceberg, the white bread was characterless. My dressing was supposed to be "chianti vinaigrette" but it tasted like Italian.

  • Rita L.

This place is addictive so be careful! Rich sauces and delicous combinations. They offer old standards like fettucine alfredo and new twists on your favorites. Johnny Carino's is similar to the Macaroni Grill or The Olive Garden, however JC's is more country Italian.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
