The Hob Nob is bar-none the best breakfast in Missoula. A few highlights are the corned beef hash, which is home made every day, and the sourdough pancakes, which use an almost 100 year old starter! You can't beat the prices either. This little plaid fills up fast, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a few minutes for your food. It should probably tell you something when you see a line out the door.

Sadly, I have to update and dock the Nob two stars. The past two times the food has been mediocre, almost flavorless and I don't know how that happens with a breakfast burrito. Also tried the BBQ chicken for lunch one day and the sandwich tasted of anchovies, the bun was really dry and fell apart and became useless in the sandwich eating process. The staff also has seemed to be "bothered" by their customers, and that we were a nuissance. Unfortunately, I won't venture back there anytime soon.

We tried the Sour Dough French Toast (would not order again - a bit soggy), the Pancakes with Blueberries (thin, chewy, delicious), the Cobb Salad and a 16 oz iced chai. Overall we liked this place! Service was fast. Would return for the pancakes. I did not prefer the type of Chai they use (it is more earthy and spicy than i prefer). The prices here are great.

This is a great place to go on a special outing with a special person. Casual and comfortable but still classy. Great menu and great food.
(5)Jen D.
Awesome breakfast! Super cute local brunch spot with delicious coffee and lots of unique breakfast options. Coming from DC the prices were unbelievably cheap. I would recommend this spot to anyone visiting the area. Lots of cute shops around to check out after!
(4)Kristina A.
To me the Hob Nob is one of the best parts of visiting Missoula. I eat here every time i am in town and absolutely love this little restaurant. My favorite menu option for breakfast is the corned beef and my favorite for lunch is the salmon burger....the special sauce on it is just amazing. I also appreciate how special the kiddos get to feel with their mickey mouse shaped sourdough pancakes. This place has great food at really reasonable prices and a welcoming staff to boot.
(5)Walter S.
Food and atmosphere was awesome. Try the veggie burrito. Huge and delicious.

As many other Yelpers, the positive feedback for Hob Nob was enough to encourage me to give this cafe a try. I am so sorry I did. The staff was lethargic with customers to the point that they seemed annoyed people were placing orders. The only time the staff perked up was when one of their friends arrived and they stood across the counter discussing the events of the weekend--this while a line of paying customers stood patiently waiting. The wait for food was very long and I watched as people who ordered the same item, but after my order was placed, receive their food before mine. Since the staff was so rude during the ordering process I decided it was not worth it to inquire about my order. Finally my food arrived and it was NOT worth the wait. In a town with many amazing bakeries and bread companies, I was shocked to see a roll that looked like a frozen version from Sysco wholesale food. The bun was bleached white, dense and starchy. The only thing in-sync with Hob Nob is the poor attitude of the staff and the less than impressive quality of the food. From the minute I stepped into the Hob Nob I got the impression they did not want me as a customer, so kudos to them on a message received--I will not be back.

After reading the positive reviews, my husband and I went to Hob Nob for brunch. A few of the downsides are it's a small place and it took a little while to get your food. When your food came you could tell everything was freshly-made. I had their corned beef hash which was amazing and my husband had their huevos rancheros special. Overall the food is delicious if you are okay with a tight seating area and you are not in a rush.
(4)Denni P.
Wowza.....ask for the secret sauce, I had corned beef hash hold the toast basted eggs, delicious! I'd come back here!!!! Coffee was delicious and you go up to the counter to order and they bring it to you when ready!!!!
(5)Carly H.
The Veggie Browns are so good! Potatoes seasoned to perfection & not at all greasy. My server was very pleasant.
(5)Steven C.
Hipster esque cafe I dropped by on my way to Hamilton. Small, casual, & quaint. It reminded me a bit of a mix of Portland hipster cafes & those found in SF. Small menu for breakfast & lunch, and you order at the counter. When I asked the friendly server for suggestions, I was told the Ahi Tuna BLT and the corned beef hash were the popular lunch items. I opted for the Ahi Tuna to be kind of healthy but it came out a bit greasy, yet decent taste wise. An alright find in Missoula and open on Monday when most other lunch places were closed.
(3)Alexander P.
Pretty sure the kitchen put canned peaches on my chicken sandwich instead of mango. Super gross mistake, space too small, and this place attracts an intolerable type of lingering customer who is just constantly in the way, smells bad, and is creepy in general.

Review: My wife and I split the veggie burrito (which we corrupted with a slice of bacon) and the banana bread french toast. The ambience and staff of the place is great. Nice and clean, friendly staff, and getting in, ordered, and seated was a very smooth experience for us. The food also didn't take very long to come out which is nice when you're good and hungry for a late breakfast. The veggie burrito suffered from lack of flavor. The veggies that were inside were bland and mushy. What was nice about the burrito however was that it was a good size, and did a good job of satiating our hunger, I just wished I could have enjoyed it more during the eating process. The banana bread french toast was very nice. Dousing it in maple syrup added a nice sweetness to the bread and the bananas gave the dish a more rich and creamy/smooth experience. Overall I think we'll probably explore many of Missoula's other breakfast options before returning here. Suggestions: The veggies in the burrito seemed like they were steamed. They were soft and mostly flavorless. As the main ingredient to the burrito, I would recommend frying them instead in some nice sauce to give them some kick. I would also recommend the burrito be seasoned more, even just with salt, to bring out the different flavors of the vegetables.

I eat here on a regular basis and the food is always good, the service is always excellent. The sweet potatoes fries are to die for and are especially good with the Montana Burger! Conner
(5)Sid S.
Everything we had was fantastic. I was going to post a pic of what we ordered but its gone....yeah...we are it. Super friendly and helpful staff. We will be back.
(5)Bevin A.
Great little place with super fresh ingredients. We had the Fried egg sandwich, sourdough French toast and the veggie burrito. Very satisfied customers!

I had a layover in Missoula on Halloween night and the next morning I came here for breakfast and I was just blown away. The food was just super delicious, espresso was outstanding and the employees are super cool and I loved the crowd. It was my first time in Missoula and when I have a layover in Missoula I'll definitely come back again. I have been spreading the word about this place with everyone in my Airline. You guys are great cheers
(5)rick R.
*UPDATE I used to love Hob Nob but the last couple months the food has just been really bad. I always do pick up orders and 3/4 times I get a sandwich I have been tempted to call and complain at how empty the sandwich has been. I usually try and go other places instead now. Just a bummer!
(3)Danielle B.
Traveling foodies beware. This place looks cute and the menu sounds like a place you want to try, but don't waste your time. I ordered the Migas. It was bland and I could barely find the eggs in there. I could make this myself. And forget the service. Don't bother requesting modifications. They acknowledge your request and then simply don't do them. The person who rang me up had a very blaze attitude. I should have went with my gut instead of a local's recommendation and tried Burns St. Bistro that I found on Yelp.
(2)Christina H.
Great prices, ample portions, flavorful food. This isn't fast food - plan to wait a little to place your order and then stay to enjoy your meal. From arrival to meal's end, breakfast took about an hour. We sat outside and enjoyed the cool morning weather & gorgeous view. Just a warning, the food has a little zing. My sister, who has no spice tolerance at all (even black pepper is too much), said that her biscuits & gravy tasted good but was too spicy. I didn't even notice the spiciness... The sourdough pancake was great. The website says that the sourdough starter is 75 years old - it tastes like it! Good, sour, flavorful, thin pancakes. If you don't LOVE sourdough you might not enjoy the pancakes, but I thought they were great. Will definitely eat here again!
(5)Colleen C.
Always a favorite- was my favorite breakfast in college and came back to visit and it beat my expectations. Corn beef hash is my favorite for breakfast, and the ahi Blt is my favorite for lunch. Hands down best breakfast and lunch in town. Friendly staff and good prices.
(5)Crystal D.
I was jumping to Coeur D'Alene, ID with my crew, which no one was looking forward to due to consuming way to many alcoholic beverages the night before, I decided Missoula would be a great place to stop & bid our farewells to Montana- I'm sure glad I did. This place blew me away!! It doesn't look like much from the outside, & a regular little sandwich place on the inside. But the food was anything but regular. EVERYTHING we had was good, I personally got the BBQ Chicken Sandwich, & Miso soup- Oh my GAWD, I haven't had food that good for that cheap in a while!
(4)Brandon L.
Corned beef and hash was pretty good. Homemade sourdough was really good. Scones looked amazing.
(4)Lan D.
Neat little spot in Missoula. Very limited options, but the prices are pretty good (at least, relative to California.) While driving across America I rolled into Missoula looking for breakfast. I found this spot and grabbed some food to go. It was hearty and filling and I'm glad I stumbled upon this place, as random finds can be pretty bad. But the service was friendly and the meal was good. I'd go back if I lived in the area.
(4)Tiffany Y.
Found this place when looking for breakfast all day while I Missoula for the day. I read here that it is "hipster-ish." After living in Austin, I would not characterize it that way. HOWEVER, it is hip food that hipsters would love, but had a much more down to earth vibe one would expect in Montana. We had the corned beef hash (with corn tortillas instead of toast - I like to rip them apart and toss them with the hash and runny eggs, then add hot sauce). That corned beef was heavenly! The best I've had in a long time. Everything was seasoned perfectly (which I find is rare in these parts)!! Plus, they have my favorite hot sauce, Tapatillo. I really appreciate the commitment to local sourcing and making everything in-house. All this plus the service was AWESOME!! Can't wait to come back.
(5)Charlie M.
Stopped to have a late breakfast before we drive across Montana. Loved that they serve breakfast until 12 on weekdays and ALL DAY on the weekends. I had the migas and a coffee. When the dish came out, I could tell that it had been sitting for at least 5 minutes because it has that look. Cheese re-hardened an that... Anyway it was tasty regardless not quite hot enough. I love that the coffee is ORGANIC. The people working are very friendly.

Consistent lack of WiFi access to an advertised WiFi hotspot. Update: owner writes that changes will be made to fix it. Changed review from 3 to 5 stars. Rolled up in here one Sunday morning. I have the typical Verizon plan of 2 gigs a month. So I wanted to do the usual app update, and both times was told the 'HobNob' hotspot was "Not open to the public." And refused the password. Nevermind both times I visited I ordered food, which makes me a Guest. When dozens of coffee shops and restaurants in town offer complimentary WiFi, and it's become as ubiquitous and as necessary as water, to operate in modern society - it's how I write this review - I just assume that if a WiFi spot is being advertised, and there /is/ a simple way on all base-radios to hide it from showing on phones - so there's no misunderstanding - then don't do a bate-and-switch where I am honestly led to believe it is available, and like complimentary water, make my decision to rest and eat here based on getting all of my needs met and the available gratuities. Like a toilet door that bears the sign "Not accessible to the public", one naturally expects that paying guests are not regarded the same way when they need to use it. Even if the management reads this review, and decides to change the jargon, simple filters can be installed to ensure the WiFi access is temporary and time-restricted per device. Change the policy and I will change the review. Otherwise, good service, reasonable prices. No alcohol served. College eatery. Gluten-free options.

We stop in Missoula for one day and while there we look for a place to have brunch. The service and location were good, however the salmon burger that we both order were dry and a little bit flavorless. Will probably give it another shot in the future
(3)TaraCody C.
Stopped here for breakfast Easter morning and the whole family enjoyed it. The food was different but great!! The corned beef hash was delicious and my coffee was also very good!! My husband and daughter both had the veggie breakfast burrito and thought it was good.
(5)Kiersta C.
In Missoula for the marathon weekend and decided to search out a little local place for a late Saturday breakfast... Spotted the sidewalk tables while driving by what a pleasant surprise! We ordered: banana bread French toast which was amazing, regular French toast which was also amazing, and the corn beef hash with eggs over medium which was also very good. But the fresh baked blackberry muffin was just phenomenal. Everything was cooked just as we asked. The only down fall was that it's a very tiny place and they do not offer sugar free syrup is a problem when there is diabetics in the family. But other then that it was a great experience and the service was great as well
(5)Megan C.
I've only been here twice, but both times I've had a great experience! The restaurant is a little hole-in-the-wall, in walking distance from campus, and affordable. The staff is charming and friendly. It's great fun both for breakfast and lunch, and the food is excellent.
(5)Malissa P.
So friendly! Great location by the river, sunny atmosphere, everything made from scratch. Outdoor seating, eclectic menu.
(5)Kath S.
Delicious food. Relaxed friendly atmosphere. We had sourdough pancakes with blueberries. Yum! Coffee is strong and tasty. We will come again next time we visit Missoula.
(5)Suzi B.
Best breakfast in town. I can't wait to get back to Missoula to sit outside, watch the world go by, and enjoy my favorite spot in town.
(5)Marcia C.
Great food, very decent prices, and generous portions. Nice location and low key; staff friendly (even to southern Californians!). Very much worth a visit.
(5)Crysta I.
This is a great little place for wonderful vegan and vegetarian food. I love the tempeh sandwich! We came in and all ordered something different and found that everything we got was fresh and tasty. It does take a few minutes to get your food because it isn't processed. So come in and relax, it is worth the wait!
(5)K W.
So, so, so good. Their veggie burger is delicious. Pro-tip: get it on Ciabatta. Everything else I've ever had has also been wonderful. A true Missoula hallmark.
(5)Tim C.
I ordered the Ahi BLT, and the fish was cooked just the way I like it. The cut of fish wasn't the best, because there was an annoying piece of sinew in my cut. But the bacon was tasty, as was the sandwich. I had it with a side of sweet potato fries, which was also nice. My brother ordered some sort of omlette with potatoes, which he enjoyed. Their coffee is quite tasty as well, and reasonably priced.
(4)Scott W.
Great breakfast and lunch was good too! Pancakes are amazing!
(4)Janna S.
I visited this café due to the incredible reviews and found it to be a good choice. I ordered the hamburger with added cheese and a side-salad. Although the hamburger itself was a little bland, the bun was amazing! I don't think I've ever eaten a bun so delicious. The side salad was also good and fresh, although I wish I'd been given a choice of dressings (they served it with a mustard dressing, which wasn't my favorite). The atmosphere in the restaurant was quiet and casual and the service was prompt. All told, I will definitely be visiting this café again on future visits!
(4)Mark S.
Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Best veggie breakfast burrito I've ever had...hands down. 'Nuf said.
(5)Dan C.
The corn beef and hash is amazing and the entire menu is very affordable. The staff is usually pretty helpful. Its my favorite breakfast in town.
(5)Zoe W.
The menu has a fairly wide variety of meals, breakfast and lunch/dinner. Various pastries and your typical cafe drinks. The atmosphere is fun and creative. Extremely fast service and wonderful customer service. Inexpensive and very good quality food and beverages. Average cost for breakfast for 1 = $8 - $10 If it's busy, it can get a little crowded inside. There is also outside seating. Overall, I really great place for a quick, delicious meal.
(5)Radd I.
Don't fall for the hip reputation...waited at the register while the server talked on the phone. Did not even order because of the rudeness. 2 stars because we did not eat.
(2)Sara S.
Pricing is right, everything is delicious and there was space (granted we came at 2:30 pm). Got the pancakes and the Migas, 2 coffees. Om nom nom.
(5)Francisco V.
This the most creative eatery I have encountered. The unique dishes are prepared to please the palette. The food is very tasty and the portions are prefect to fill you up. The people here are amazingly nice and very open minded to great small talk to better enhance the experience.
(5)Brett B.
Went for breakfast on Saturday morning. They were busy but fast. Grabbed only table available as we came in. Still had dishes from previous customer which was fine as long as it got cleared. Two of us ordered the hash and my daughter wanted French toast. We asked at that time for the table to please be cleared and we were assured it would be. When our food was brought out, all of the previous customer's dishes were still there where WE stacked them. Most of the dirty dishes were taken at that time except for their water and coffee cups. Table was never wiped down for us either. The food was very good and I might have given 5 stars but eating on a dirty table around someone else's dirty dishes was a turn off for me.
(3)Ellie K.
So many vegetarian sandwich options!!! Falafel, caprese, tempeh, veggie burger, black bean/lentil burger! Delicious! Order and pay at the counter, they bring food to you, they bus tables. If there were more tables, I'd give it five stars.
(4)Michael M.
We ate breakfast here and give it 4 stars for a myriad of reasons. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere is earthy college and small town. The corned beef hash was very good as was the basic breakfast. They clearly do make the hash homemade and overnight it's slow cooked. The pricing might be too low.
(4)Rebecca S.
My hubby and I came in for lunch on a weekend. I ordered the mango chicken sandwich. It lacked a little flavor but it helped to add some of the special mustard sauce. The bun was really soft and flavorful too. I got it with the sweet potato fries on the side and they were awesome! The fries were sweet and salty and crunchy - yummy! Hubby had the Reuben with salad and he enjoyed everything.
(4)Tamara Y.
Best corned beef hash I've had in a restaurant in quite some time. Not that crap in a can. Not thinly sliced deli corned beef. Substantial chunks of corned beef, cooked with onions and potatoes in a cast iron skillet. I had it with sourdough toast and two eggs (over easy), just the way the good Lord intended CB hash to be eaten. My complaints about my CB hash are minor -- the bits of onion are miniscule compared to the potatoes and corned beef. Garlic and some red peppers would be appreciated, but not a dealbreaker. The place has a hippie, college-town vibe, which I liked. The service was ok, not stellar. I got a little bit of stink eye from the waitress when I asked for a bread plate to put my toast on, but I ignored her. To hell with your stinkeye -- The ONLY person who gets to decide when and if my toast gets violated with egg yolk is ME.
(4)Eric L.
We walked by this restaurant and were drawn in by seeing the plates of food on the outdoor diners' tables. We had breakfast, and it was very good, the portion size was more than enough, and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant for a good breakfast in MIssoula. The only drawback is that the inside is small and crowded. The waitstaff did a wonderful job navigating the crowd to deliver food on the Sunday morning that we were there. I bit more space would make the eating experience nicer, and the waitstaff's job easier. If you're looking for a relatively quick, not overly fancy, and excellent breakfast stop by Hob Nob.
(4)Dr. J.
Good food, good coffee, and reasonably priced. I'll be back! The only weird thing is that you need to order at the counter, but otherwise it's like a full-service restaurant. I guess that's to cut down on staffing needs, but it puts you on the spot to know what you want to order.
(4)Priscilla L.
Cute little breakfast joint. Americano wasn't up to par but the food was delicious. All plates around me looked delicious too. Quick service. Bacon was superb. Pick your seat first then go up and order, you risk not getting a place to eat if not.
(4)J F.
I love this place! It's one of those establishment that just gets it right. Good service, great food and just a terribly pleasant atmosphere. There really is no down side to my experience at the Hob Nob, but if I had to name one thing it would be that they aren't open for dinner as well.
(5)Chris F.
First off...NO WIFI, despite what the business info says. What is it about the Hip Strip and not offering any wifi? Apparently Missoula hipsters think descending back into the dark ages of the pre-internet era is trendy...that or not getting any real work done ever. Anyway, I still believe in this place for breakfast--the Migas plate is always great, and you can't go wrong with bottomless coffee! However I finally tried the lunch menu and was so disappointed that it immediately dropped to two stars. Salmon burger was almost inedible. Barely any salmon, smashed and over fried, and then topped with a "bloomin' onion' type sauce--chipotle ranch or something--so there was no salmon flavor whatsoever. Bun was huge, floury and lacking texture. More flavor and bang for your buck from those half-frozen triangle sandwiches sitting in every gas station convenience store. The soup that accompanied was decent, but a very small portion that couldn't make up for the lackluster main attraction. The usually good coffee was still lingering around from breakfast and had lost its luster. I'll still head back for breakfast from time to time, but don't see any reason to try lunch again.
(2)Jessica G.
The food here was unique and also very tasty. No complaints about the food. The only problem for me was the seating, the tables were limited and also very confined. I felt claustrophobic and felt the urge to eat in my car to get out of the noise. I hope they do well enough to get a larger restaurant in the future.
(4)Sue S.
Yum! Fresh, fast, fabulous breakfast burrito and corn beef hash. Friendly service staff and tasty, freshly made salsa.
(5)Jaime R.
Love this mom and pop joint. Everything is made fresh to order! Try the Migas..delicious.
(5)Chiep P.
Im only giving it 3 stars because I have not tried their breakfast yet. Breakfast mon-fri 7-12am sat&sun all day
(3)Lucie L.
Went here for brunch and will be back again! Totally cute for brunch and great easy-morning atmosphere. The corned beef hash is excellent! The coffee is great. Overall, for brunch I loved it!
(5)Jason L.
First time visiting this wonderful restaurant. service, food and atmosphere was amazing. can't wait to visit again.
(5)Livio B.
I drove into Missoula for a flight. I was early so decided to grab breakfast. This place had mostly good reviews. Either the owners create a lot of fictitious accounts and give themselves good reviews or I need to move to Missoula and open up a breakfast joint. It's dirty, overcrowded, and the food is horrible. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and French toast. How do you screw up scrambled eggs? Ask the cook at Hob Nob. They were hardly scrambled and burned crispy on the edges. The French toast, well, I'm not sure what to say. This was the absolute worst breakfast I've had. Save yourself some money and hit a fast food drive through. You'll probably get a better meal.

Just plain awesome! I had the migas for breakfast and was very happy they serve breakfast until non Monday-Friday. We had a very polite and smiling woman take our order and when she delivered our food we were even more pleased! I was happy the migas we're well priced and they didn't give me a massive serving. Just the right amount and I can't wait to go back again!
(5)J P.
Really tasty breakfast here. I had the flour tortilla veggie breakfast burrito, filled with scrambled eggs, potato, and various veggies (looked like onions, broccoli, spinach, zucchini, etc). It comes with salsa and is really good. You go to the counter to order. The place is really small so the line to order might be right down the middle of the room to the door, with tables alongside. There is also some bar-stool seating at one of the walls. The counter person is ULTRA helpful, warm and friendly. She even calls out a thank you & good-bye greeting as you leave. I didn't see it on their online menu, but they have a good espresso machine there and put out a great latte. Really glad we gave them a try on our trip through the area.
(4)Kris A.
I had the Mango Chicken Sandwich and it was excellent. We had just returned from backpacking a night and didn't feel like in our battered condition we would be chased out.
(4)A W.
It's alright. I guess. Ive never had anything here that was AMAZING... The Cobb salad is probably the only good thing, but even thats inconsistent. Sometimes they will just run out of ingredients and not let you know so you end up getting a salad with half of what's supposed to be on it. They also serve the same boring and un-tasty soup items all day. And, they used sandwich bread for the french toast which is kind of gross. Hipsters like it, so if you like hipsters, go here. Im only giving them two stars because of if you get the hob-nob cobb and they manage to make it right, it is good.
(2)Sundi P.
We had lunch here and thought the place was really cute. The salmon burger and the ultimate grilled cheese were amazing. Their sweet potato fries were great also! If you have dogs, they put out a water bowl at their outside tables.
(5)Clint M.
This is my favorite breakfast spot in Missoula. Just had a Basic and my wife had a Veggie Brown.
(5)Sherri B.
Great little place, had the veggie breakfast burrito so yummy and packed with veggies. Great stop! It was very busy and quite a line but the staff was courteous. May have to come back for lunch next time we are on town the menu looked good
(5)Laci R.
The hob nob is my favorite place in town. Especially if you can hit it at the right time where it isn't super packed. Their breakfasts are amazing, everything is freshly made to order, and sooo tasty. The salmon burger with sweet potato fries and the pear and gorgonzola salad are to die for. A great atmosphere, perfect for sunday morning breakfast.
(5)Ed M.
Great food and despite the long line in front of me service was disease spreading fast! I'll definitely be swinging by again.
(4)Brita L.
Great food. Even better coffee. Only downfall is little space and no wifi. But still saying 2 thumbs up!
(4)Mitch K.
Great breakfast and lunch place. Home cooking with a nice twist, like banana bread french toast. Fresh ingredients and somewhat of a cozy hippy cafe atmosphere. Vegetarians can thrive on this menu, but not at the expense of the carnivors. Hard to find parking and it is small, so come early or prepare to wait. But it is worth it. Coffee is special roast, rich and strong. Salads, sandwiches, soups each day and their chunky tomato is superb. Popular with the university crowd and will be popular with you after you give it a try.
(4)Shannon T.
Great place just south of Downtown Missoula on Higgins. Food is great, and the staff is always friendly. They have great service. You place your order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Their is seating inside, but if the weather is nice, I suggest sitting outside and people watch! Love the food. Today I had huevos rancheros with pulled pork and black beans, it was yummy!! My friend had their veggie browns (a potato dish, I must try next.) I like try to have something different each time I'm there!
(5)Rod F.
I kept hearing amazing things about this place from my friends. So, I gave it a try....meh....nothing spectacular. So, I gave it another try. What bothers me the most is that I can make just as good of a breakfast at my house. Anything I've ordered is bland or just plain boring. For me, personally, it didn't live up to the hype and I've no need to go back here. Staff is decent--neither great, nor poor. The seating is crowded and the atmosphere is loud and makes it kind of unpleasant....we're talking a crammed little space here. Do yourself a favor: if you're going to pay for breakfast go to The Shack or stay home and make your own (you'll be better off).
(2)Ashley B.
Stopped here on a recent trip from Bozeman to Flathead Lake, and we liked it so much we stopped again on the way back! Great, interesting lunch choices that were all delicious. Breakfast menu also looked awesome - would have loved to try it! Definitely a must if going through Missoula.
(4)Matthew L.
We found ourselves eating at a Burger King on the outskirts of Spokane on the night before and found ourselves wanting something healthy and substantial for lunch the next day on our road trip. Yelp came to the rescue and found Hob Nob on Higgins for us. The service was friendly and the food was filling and tasty. My wife enjoyed her veggie burger and I enjoyed my chicken sandwich. I don't remember that much about this place, but the ingredients appeared to be of high quality. A great spot to stop if you're passing through Missoula.
(4)dana s.
The sweet potato fries with special sauce at the Hob Nob are worth an entire Yelp review. They are photo worthy...as in, when I go here I take pictures of the fries like I would take pictures of an amazing sunset or adorable puppy. They are THAT good. Later, I look at the photos and reminisce. My tummy growls and run my finger over the glossy photo. I think, I miss you.....sweet potato fries. I miss you. I have not lived in Missoula for years. But I go back to visit about once a year and the Hob Nob is always my first stop. I have actually considered moving back just for these fries. If you are looking for a lunch item to go with the fries, the corned beef sandwich is incredible. Big juicy chunks of homemade corned beef, melted swiss and the perfect amount of sauce. *sigh* I guess it is only an 8 hour drive from Seattle....

Wow! After reading other reviews and talking to a few locals my daughter and I decided we had to try breakfast here during a recent motorcycle trip. I am a HUGE fan of corned beef hash, and it's hard to find places that make it from scratch. This place does, and it's fantastic. For $7 you get a really good portion with nice chunks of corned beef. It was delicious. My daughter ordered their home made banana bread french toast. It was also delicious. We had to wait in a bit of a line, and almost every table inside and outside was full. From what we were told this is very typical. There is a reason for that. This place puts out some outstanding food and the prices are more than fair for what you get. It is so worth the wait. You order at the counter and they deliver your food to your table. The service was extremely friendly, and considering how slammed they were, amazingly quick as well. This place is a gem and I can't wait to go back again. They also serve lunch, and looking at the lunch menu has me anxious to try that as well. UPDATE: Stopped at Hob Nob again on a recent motorcycle trip with my daughter, a year after our first visit. Happy to say it's still just as great and we consider it a "must stop" when in the area. Hoping to be in the area around lunch time to try something from their great looking lunch menu.

My friends in town really like this place, so we ate a few meals there. I found out whey it is a local favorite. My first meal was just so-so. I had ordered the breakfast special and it was fair, plus the coffee was cold and the potatoes were okay. I was bummed since I had heard good things. We returned a few days later for lunch and it was great. Though it was busier, the service and food were much better. Everyone raved about their lunch of breakfast selections. The toasted mozzarella sandwich is good if you like pesto, and the sweet potato fries were nice and crispy. Also, lunch for 4 for $25 is pretty nice too.

Cozy little place run by a young staff. We went on a Monday, mid-morning, and the place was busy. Not crazy, but busy enough to imply that people know about it and seek it out. The coffee was good, always a good sign to me when breakfast joints invest in good java. I had a basic breakfast sandwich. Birdman bread is all over Missoula and for good reason - it's delicious. Good quality cheddar cheese, eggs were cooked to order. My husband had the daily special, a scramble with pork, potatoes and vegetables. The portion was HUGE. I don't like judging a place like this by its service because it's not trying to be top of the line. It's order at the counter and sparsely staffed. The food came out promptly and was just the way we ordered it. The one annoyance is that they were out of decaf when we got there, and they said it would only take a couple of minutes to brew. I should have known it was too good to be true - it was more like 20+ minutes, so by the time it was ready we had pretty much finished eating. I would go back, but if my decaf was not already done and hot I would just skip it altogether.

One of the cheapest breakfasts in Missoula. I like the Migas or even just an egg sandwich on sourdough. Good coffee and I love that you can refill it yourself. Nice place to hang out during the day to catch up with a friend or to go to alone for breakfast or lunch. I like the size, it's intimate, but it can also mean no available tables. I'm personally not a fan of the sourdough but most friends swear by them.

Had breakfast at Hob Nob in Missoula this am. Great food and very reasonable prices.

Went here for breakfast on a sunday after reading other reviews. While it was busy, the food was fast and service was good. The breakfast food wasn't oily or greasy, which was great. House coffee was also good. Glad we had breakfast there.

Best place for breakfast in town--good prices too! Don't fear, they have good non-breakfast stuff too.

Service could be better, food for lunch disappointing. Others were eating breakfast looked good, should have had breakfast. Under staffed Bathroom was filthy.

It took two years of living in Missoula before I decided to venture here. After my first meal I was left wondering what kept me away for so long! My absolute favorite breakfast dish is the sourdough pancakes. These are the thinnest and largest pancakes I have ever eaten, they barely fit on the plate!! The biggest downside to eating here is the limited seating. I would advise keeping away during the weekend breakfast crowd - better to go with a weekday brunch.

As a tourist this was the best place to eat considering the price. I loved the potatoes that you get with most of their breakfasts, and their tomato soup. There are chunks of tomatoes in their soup which i loved. This place gets very crowded in the mornings but is still completely worth it.

The best breakfast in Missoula, lunch is not bad either. Everything here is made with super fresh ingredients. You get the feeling that this cafe leans towards purchasing organic sustainable produce and livestock, although I don't think it is advertised anywhere. The tuna BLT is INSANE, can't got wrong with any of the breakfast items (and I've tried most of them), but the corn-beef hash and banana bread french toast are a couple fav's. Lastly, this review would not be complete without mentioning the sweet potato fries, which are to this day the best I've ever had (and I love sweet potato fries!!). I moved to Seattle a few years ago and still crave this place. It is always first on my list when I come back to visit :)

I thought this place had great food. The sourdough pancakes were great. The potatoes were delicious. Overall it was a great place to eat.

Let me say that this place is five stars for what is it -- a cool little college town breakfast/brunch/lunch spot; no more, no less. I'm a pretty big fan. The location is nice and there's always parking on Higgins or the adjoining streets. Everything I've had has been tasty and the prices are SUPER cheap for the area. Two people can have a large amount of food plus tip for well under $20. Try the corned beef hash, veggie burger (perhaps Tex Mex style if you like those flavors) on rye, tomato bisque soup, and/or the pear and gorgonzola salad. Order at the register and the food is out within 10 minutes. The staff is just courteous enough to offset the occasional poor attitude. It's a good start to a lovely (and hopefully sunny) Missoula Saturday.

Another "must eat" when I visit Missoula. Breakfast here is awesome, great coffee, friendly staff and nice cozy location. bornwithabeard.com

Good prices, cool atmosphere and delicious food... What more could you ask for? Both the banana bread french toast and the pear and gorgonzola salad were delicious!
(4)Barbs J.
One of my favorite lunch spots in Missoula. They have a great menu full of tasty sandwich and salad options; and amazing tomato soup. The staff are really nice, and though it gets crowded, we've always found a table.
(4)Marimo A.
Great big breakfast special (toasted bread, roasted potatoes, scrambled eggs with chantrell muchroom, spinach and cheese - so good) for $7.99...what a deal. Coffee was too weak though. Still worth going for awesome breakfast!
(4)Heather R.
Great Breakfasts! Eat the sourdough pancakes! We stop here every time we visit missoula! The migas are also an incredible treat!

Today was my third time eating at Hob Nob. I like the location, the restaurant is very sunny and inviting, and while I haven't eaten anything that's rocked my world, I haven't eaten anything on the menu that I don't like. I love that lunch comes with a side of salad, soup, or a generous portion of regular or sweet potato fries. The only thing keeping me from giving Hob Nob 4 stars is that of all three times we've gone, none of the cashiers (you pay for your food at the counter and then it's brought to your table when it's ready) or servers have ever even smiled at us. Great food and spot, unfriendly service.

Just above your average brunch place. Better than average food, coffee, service. I would return
(4)Nico A.
I actually liked this place more than I thought. The sandwiches are amazing and don't miss out on the bottomless lemonade. One entree I remember is the chicken breast and mango sandwich that was divine! The corned beef is also making my mouth water right now!
(4)Erin N.
Stopped here for breakfast, already quite crowded on a Saturday morning about ten minutes after they opened but the sour dough pancakes were wonderful and the eggs on veggie burger dish was yum. Great variety from the everyday eggs, hash browns and toast,

I've been to the Hob Nob a lot for breakfast/brunch, but not lunch yet. It's got a solid breakfast menu with all the standards (pancakes, omelets, potatoes, sausage, etc) along with great alternatives for the vegetarians. Though I haven't ever walked away saying "Wow! wow!" I've always been very happy with what I've ordered. I think my favorite may be the sourdough pancakes... I want to eat a Hob Nob brunch right now... They just do good food right. The coffee is local, delicious and freshly brewed. The gals that run the register and work the tables have always been friendly and relaxed. This place is a go-to for me for brunch or breakfast in Missoula.

Smack dab in the heart of the 'Hip Strip'; this great breakfast and lunch spot is especially fun on a nice day when you can sit outside. Favorites include the sweet potato fries and the Ahi BLT. If you like mango, then definitely try the Mango Chicken Sandwich.

Great breakfast, tasty food and coffee, friendly staff.

Food was good. Not great. Lacked friendly service. Sweet potato fries were really good.
(3)Evan L.
Best breakfast in town. SUPER friendly staff. Perfect little nook to gather your nourishment before tackling your amazing day. When I lived in Missoula, I came here so much that they all knew my name. Miss this place.
(5)Mindy T.
The Hob Nob has great food, but horrible customer service. I have had two extremely bad experiences. The first I placed an order to pick up and they forgot to put my order in. No apology, nothing. The second I ordered food ahead of time via telephone and they told me I couldn't sit in the restaurant and eat it. Obviously they don't want my business so I will not be going back. They are always short staffed!

Based on the yelp reviews we decided to try this place for Breakfast. My husband and I both ordered the special which was 2 scrambled eggs with sausage, mushrooms, onion, chilies, and cheese. It was server with toast and hash browns. The hash browns were more like over roasted potatoes and delicious. We both had the "Bird Man" bread for our toast. I wish I knew where to buy more of that bread because it was so good. Prices were very reasonable here too.

Great price for the quality of food. Vegetarian selections excellent.
(4)Kyle B.
Great food, friendly service. Would love to come back and try breakfast next time.

Home of the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Passing through Missoula, and looking for a good breakfast place I stumbled upon the Hob Nob Cafe. I could not have been more satisfied. Serving breakfast and lunch, the menu is concise; enough variety that everyone will find something they like, but not so expansive that you have trouble deciding when you go up to the counter to order. This is good, because it was quite busy when I ate there Sunday morning; still my order took less than five minutes to fill! The best breakfast burrito I've ever had featured seasoned potatoes, fresh spinach, zucchini, squash, red pepper, red onion, cheddar cheese, and scrambled eggs. A side of home made salsa, sprouts, and sour cream is included, and I added fresh avocado to make it perfect. I'm used to paying upwards of $9 for such a meal, but the menu price for the burrito is only $5.50! There fresh baked goods (strawberry oat muffin) and good coffee were like icing on the cake. Please stop by if you are going to be anywhere near Missoula, you will not regret it.

Wonderful food at great prices. Very fresh! Wish the menu was a little bigger but I love the uniqueness of what they do offer.

The best corn beef hash I've ever had: I think about ordering hash at every breakfast place, but at the end, I hesitate and then pass. It's rarely as good as your imagination...which is not the case at the Hob Nob. Every bite is flavorful, fresh and clearly homemade. No mushy metallic mess here. I was so involved with the dish that I barely noticed the cramped quarters and morning rush. Oh and the coffee and scones were better than average as well. There's something about breakfast places in Missoula!

Loved this place! Walked 2.5 miles to get there in 16 degree weather (didn't have a car), but it was sooo worth it! I ordered their pastrami sandwich and tomato soup for lunch. The atmosphere is cafe-like with a few tables (as it's a small shop). You order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Reasonable prices. Their tomato soup was the best tomato soup I've ever had. I wish I knew their ingredients to try and replicate it! Small chunks of vegetables, probably onions, garlic, tomatoes and whatever else they put in it. Slight kick. Tasty and not watery or too chunky or thick. After this place, I was looking for tomato soup wherever I went...but did not find anything like it until I went to the MSO airport and they were serving Liquid Planet's tomato soup. It seemed very similar. Anyway, I'd come back to this place in a heartbeat. Top of my list for Missoula!

Great food. The bird man bread is awesome. Service was spot on. Nice little cozy establishment.
(5)Mitch G.
Great place to have breakfast with friends. No chicken Fried steak but I won't hold that against them as there is really no other place in town that you can go to for breakfast that doesn't taste like cardboard. The OX is a whole other story.
(4)Zane M.
great spot, good coffee, good food, unique items on the menu
(5)oliver g.
This place has the best breakfast in Missoula! They have a great variety of excellent tasting foods including my favorite the Old World Sourdough Pancakes which I recommend with 2 sausage links and 1 over easy fried egg. If your looking for a great restaurant with a large selection of extravagant tasting meals, Hob Nob is your place.
(4)Lawrence S.
The corned beef hash made me want to forgo the free breakfast buffet at my hotel and come back for seconds. The migas was also yummy.
(5)Steven A.
great breakfast, really good prices too.
(4)Heather P.
one of my favorite spots for breakfast in Missoula, the fried egg sandwich is my all time favorite! (get it with bacon and birdman bread). They also make pretty good espresso drinks.
