I give my first trip to Face Club a 2.5-3 star rating. I think Face Club has the potential to make it to 4 stars for sure once they iron out the new-business wrinkles. My boyfriend and I ate there last night (Friday evening.) We were greeted at the door less than enthusiastically but were then introduced to our hostess. She waved her hand out across the room and said, 'sit wherever you like' and then followed US to the table. We were told who our server would be and that water and rolls would be on the way soon. There was only one other couple on the west side of the restaurant where we were, and a few more on the bar side. I thought it was a bit odd that the hostess didn't get our water and we waited for probably 5-10 mins for our server to come, who introduced herself, gave us menu's (no water) and said she would be back with water and rolls. Dejavu. The decor of the place is interesting.. has potential for sure, but I was thrown off by the large west wall which has a large series of (un-evenly placed and crookedly hung) framed boxes with butterflies in them, you know the kind.. real butterflies with needles through their bodies.. the uneven crookedness drove my ADD'ish tendencies crazy. An interesting choice next to the very contemporary asian flair of large painted masks and fake bamboo. The tables, chairs and settings are high-end and comfortable, although the 2-seater tables are pretty small and once food comes it's hard to find a place for things. I spilled my drink because of how crowded it was, even before the food came out. We finally got our water and one roll for each of us. We ordered a couple martini's.. Lemongrass for me and Candied Apple for him. Mine tasted like strait vodka with a hint of lemon.. extremely strong. The Candy Apple was decent. A note on the ambiance (or lack-there-of).. in an establishment that is going for high-end (this is a quote from their Val-Pak ad (irony!) -- "From Alligator to Bison, Sushi to Sake, Martinis to Mandioca, let our wold renowned 5 star chef tantalize your taste buds as you lounge in lavish luxury!" to have awful 80's and 90's pop music playing loudly was not at all the luxury experience we expected from their ad. To the food. We ordered the mandioca (fried yucca) which I've had in high end NYC restaurants. I came out in big chunks rather than thin slices, which was how I'd had it before. They were unseasoned but came with a side of sweet chili sauce to dip in. The little plate the sauce was in was far too small to hold enough to make it through though and we ran out quickly. What was left was basically flavorless chunks of deep friend starch. Underwhelmed. Especially for $10. Finally our entrees arrived. I had the spicy chicken basil (a SaWaDee favorite of mine) and my sweetheart had the green beef curry. I can say that I definitely, hands-down, prefer SaWaDee's. It wasn't bad, I ate it all, but it was way too heavy on the fish sauce which tasted strait out a supermarket bottle. The flavor of my guy's curry was really very good. There were a lot of large veggies in it, that made it hard to eat with a spoon. It was more like a soup with meat and veggies. The meat was tender and the curry itself was very good though. I decided I wanted a glass of wine with my food and flagged down the server and asked her about the wine. She had no idea about any of them and had to go ask someone. Not a good sign for a "5 star lavish luxury" spot to have servers with no wine knowledge at all. We shared the mango sticky rice for dessert, it was pretty good. Overall I feel like its a new place and will likely experience some growing pains. I am going to give it another try for sure. There is plenty of room for good food in Missoula. I do think it's going to have to come up with some more unique menu items because we already have good thai and decent sushi already. To have longevity against places that are deeply established and not going anywhere, that are within walking distance of you, you have to come very unique and you have to deliver what you advertise. We paid over $80 for the meal and I felt it didn't even come close to Red Bird, Scotty's or Pearl. Once their staff develops, their decor and ambiance matures.. if they keep new things coming on the menu they might stick around for a while. I'm going to give it another go I'm curious about the sushi and the bison for sure..

Early lunch on Sunday. Our server was great. Drinks were awesome, we tried the wasabi martini, blackberry margarita, Apple martini and Thai martini all were yummy! Calamari was light and crispy. OMG roll rocks! It was OMG yummy! Saffron bison and spicy seafood chef specials were great. Would and will go back! Very nice atmosphere.

Someone said the owner is a bearcat and good help is jumping ship. Is that true??

Excellent Asian foods. Delicious cocktails. Great service and a quiet ambiance. For Missoula this is an excellent upcoming restaurant that is working hard to refine any negative issues that it may have.

Excellent. We've been a few times and each time it's slightly better. They had a little trouble getting a rhythm down, but now it's fast, inexpensive, delicious and a lot of the menu are unique for missoula dishes. Personal favorites are the pineapple fried rice and the chicken and shrimp curry. They go well together and its a lot of flavor. The name is a little weird. They had intended to have the servers wear Asian masks, but after opening night it was deemed too creepy. Oh well. I'd still go for some face paint on occasions if it were up to me. The only unfortunate thing I can think of, is that it may come across as strange or expensive to the people that only frequent Double Front Chicken or seek out bar food. It is neither, but good luck forcing some class (and well made food) into people's throats ;) I hope it stays profitable.

Food was delicious. Presentation was a bit odd. The nice place settings were a stark contrast to the plastic tray the complimentary sweet rolls were served in. Service was polite, but a bit disorganized. Sound like they're still a new restaurant, so hopefully some of the rougher bits of our experience will smooth over over time.

Went here on valentines day after reading their excerpt in the news paper, upon walking in and seating ourselves the décor is beautiful, the chairs our so comfy and lighting is perfect. But the customer service and selection of this restaurant was horrible, we sat down and after listening to the bartender talk up the sushi for 10 minutes we order some he comes back and informs us there out of sushi.... Its a sushi restaurant, I try to order the lunch special he gos to the kitchen and comes back telling me there not serving lunch specials!!! 0 for 2. I try to order a drink and there out of vodka! This place spent a lot of money on making it gorgeous, obviously needs new management though cause if your a sushi bar you should have sushi and liquor. I say save your time and go to asahi. Ken

Nice location, a fine dining feel and pretty good drunken noodles. The sushi was decent at best, not their specialty. The drunken noodles were some of the best we have had though. Great for a date night as the presentation and environment is really they're best feature.

Just go. Food is very good and the staff is super friendly. Sushi and cocktails is one of a kind here. A place like this needs to be in the Missoula food scene.

Beatiful menu. My favorites Are the yellow curry, pad Thai, and they have delicious fired rice which is hard to find in Missoula. Staff is very friendly!

I would say it's a 4.5, instead of a full 5... We've been there twice now. The first time we went (two people) we had the calamari as a starter, then the red curry and the drunken noodles. The second time, we both had pad thai, and tried one sushi roll, as well as several cocktails. The cooked food is spot on. The taste is superb. Best thai/asian food in town, beating out SaWaDee by a LONG shot, and topping Iza by quite a bit as well. The cocktails were tasty, and it looks like they only use top shelf liquor. Service is fantastic, everyone is great at their jobs and super friendly. The sushi is better than anywhere else in Missoula...which sadly isn't hard to do. (if you've been to the place in Hamilton, it's about the same as there.) All in all, worth a try. Great tastes, good service, nice atmosphere.

Overall, we had an ok dining experience here, but I think there's room for improvement Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal, and the food was pretty tasty. My spicy seafood entree was good, but it contained large chunks of imitation crab alongside the "real" seafood. The fake stuff doesn't fit with my expectations of a nice restaurant.

I've been twice and I feel like there is potential here but they need to fix a few things if they're going to make it. First the good, both times I've been I have been impressed with the food. The curry was tasty and the sushi is great. It's probably the best sushi available in Missoula right now. So there's potential. On the other hand there are so many odd or off things about the actual restaurant that I don't know that it'll make it. First, if you're going to charge Scotty's/Red Bird prices you should provide that kind of ambiance. Everything in the place seems half nice / half strange. The table settings and chairs are nice but the lights are entirely too bright and they tend to blast terrible adult contemporary music. Doesn't "Tears in Heaven" make you hungry? The tables are too close together and for some reason we were sat RIGHT next to another table when there were several available. When putting on my jacket I had to double-check that I wasn't going to bop the guy immediately to my left. Like I mentioned, the sushi was great but it was served with weird fake plastic grass that just seemed cheap and out of place entirely. On our second trip the service was good and attentive and we got our glasses refilled. Wish I could say the same about the first, but that time we seemed to be often forgotten, never got water refills and kept being promised rice that never came. I felt bad for the wait staff as they seemed flustered and kept mentioning how busy it was when we were one of only four seated tables. The staff always seem very nice, but I think if you're charging these prices you need to hire people with a bit more fine dining experience. Sadly these kids just don't seem to be there yet. All in all I would say that if you want to serve nice $25-$40+ entrees you have to act more like the restaurants in town in that bracket.

Super pretentious and waaay overpriced for the area. It's weird that Yelp describes it as part Chinese... The menu is mostly sushi with some Thai options and a few ridiculous fake gourmand dishes (I'm talking to you here $32 a plate white wine alligator)-- there is very little to offer on the Chinese front. And about the sushi!!! Have you ever heard of a sushi place that didn't have California rolls on the menu? Me either... And there must have been 2 dozen different rolls listed- It's like a burger joint that doesn't have fries. Just totally bizarre snobbishness for a restaurant with online ordering. The menu has no flow either, (cheap chinatown buns with a $15 plate of sushi?)--- it's like a hodge-podge of items that the chefs thought were cool, but just dont fit. It's not fusion, it's just a bunch of things they can cook: Soft shell crab, ginger bison, white wine alligator, Hawaiian salad, Mongolian beef, curried duck, saki & lamb... It's just weird and laughingly pompous. It wouldn't last 3 months in a major market. All that said, the food wasn't bad (though the mango was overripe). It's just far too overpriced and ridiculous.

Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch. SUPER fresh veggie roll was yummy. Presentation is awesome/ pineapple chicken comes in a half pine apple and was hard put the chopsticks down and not overeat!! For how fresh the food is and how nice it is in there, the prices were quite fair.

High quality food, service and décor. This is a beautiful restaurant. Priced great and the staff was nice. I was in the area for business and enjoyed the quiet classy ambience.

Excellent food. The saffron-ginger bison was phenomenal, as was the soft shell crab. The white wine alligator was a little beyond my palate, but then again how often are you going to sample alligator in Montana? By far the best calimari offering in Missoula. Very impressed with their martini selection as well; try the Thai Martini or the Ginger Lemongrass, far beyond anything most of the bars downtown can produce. Staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful. Decor is different to say the least, but it is certainly unlike any other downtown restaurant. The dinner rolls, as far as I can tell, are made of sugar, yeast, and cocaine (and I mean that in a good way). The music is a bit displaced as well, but by no means offensive. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the surreal experience of watching the hostesses practice tai chi while eating sauteed alligator with a sake & vodka martini surrounded by gigantic bamboo shoots listening to Lana Del Ray. Terrific food, and certainly a welcome addition to downtown. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

Sorry, I don't see this place making it in Missoula. Had dinner with friends the other night. Friends specifically told server before ordering that it will be split checks. Service was way slow, and she forgot our drinks many, many times. We had to hide a drink menu because she'd take it away every time after we ordered drinks. One beer honestly took a half hour to get, and they were 10-12 oz. pours. She said she was new, and I can forgive that. But if a new restaurant wants to charge as much as Scotty's/Redbird/Pearl, they better bring it with experienced servers and food. The yellow curry dish I had choking-size vegetables on it that looked haphazardly cut. The softshell crab tasted "fishy," in a bad way, like it had spoiled but they cooked it anyway. Very strong taste. The person I assumed was an owner/manager walked around in tattered jeans and a frumpy, dingy sweater and never engaged with the guests. She carried out a tray of food and then scurried away. It took forever to get the check because the server didn't know the system in order to split them like we asked, so then we just asked for a single check because we had to be somewhere. She brought our check, but it was just the bill, nothing itemized, and she couldn't print an itemized bill because she had already run our card. Now we had to try to remember the prices of everything we ordered as quickly as we could without being late. Nothing at all fancy about this place. Like Dickey's/Central, and every other place before it, I give it two years or less before doors close. One positive, the mixed drinks were pretty good.

Ginger beef was good. Red onions didn't really get cooked in the stir fry. Monday night at 7 and the place was empty...

I look forward to giving these guys a better review once they iron out the kinks. Good: Saffron Bison was excellent. Cocktails were good. Good atmosphere. The Critical: Sushi was mediocre. They need to check out the sushi in Hamilton to taste their competition. 2-tops are too small of a table for 2 people. The music is horrible. It's a hip, shi-shi place - it needs hip, urban grooves. Not Michael Bolton or Celine Dion. I will say, though, bad 80s made me feel like I really was in Asia, strangely. But, this is Missoula, in 2014. And everyone else got rolls but us. ? Server seemed too busy to take care of us - for the prices, the service needs to reflect the higher scale. All in all - it's all right and I hope with a few changes, I can give more stars!

Been here a couple times now, Mongolian beef is my favorite with duck curry a close second, hands down best Asian food in Missoula, have enjoyed everything I've had here from the sushi to the hot food, and the ginger sake martini is awesome. This is the Asian restaraunt missoula has needed!
(5)Terry A.
Four of us enjoyed Yellow Curry, Cashew Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Basil Chicken for lunch. Each dish was delicious. For dessert we shared Sticky Rice plus Crispy Banana with ice cream, the latter being my personal favorite. Although the prices seem a little high for lunch, we felt it was worth it. The restaurant is attractive, conducive to visiting. Service was excellent. We are already planning our next meal at Face Club, lunch again or perhaps dinner.

Best curry I've ever had!! And I've been to Thailand! Best sushi in Missoula... And excellent cocktails.

Tried it this afternoon for the first time. It's a really beautiful restaurant: the chairs, cork-bound menus, art on the walls. The tablecloths and napkins seem a tad much, but maybe just because we were in for a late lunch. We shared spring rolls, which were not greasy and clearly were made in-house. Had those along with some cold sake. I had a curried soft shell crab entree, which had a warm, not too spicy flavor. It was a little heavy on the breading, admittedly. Also came with sautéed spinach, which I love.My husband had a gingered bison entree, which was awesome (I had a bite). It had big chunks of braised, tender ginger that were almost silky- I've never had anything like that. It also had broccoli and oyster mushrooms. (Also an out of context apple garnish- pretty, but an odd touch). The prices are a little higher than some other places in town, especially for lunch, but for higher-end places in Missoula fairly competitive. Also, they offer sushi which I would have tried but they don't serve it until 5pm. Service was very attentive, but we were there at 3pm and only one other couple was there. I will definitely go again. (They also serve warm, slightly sweet rolls when you're seated. Which is nice, but surprised me for an Asian restaurant).

Wonderful. A friend and I came for lunch; the seafood bisque was excellent, the basil chicken was above average, and the mango with sticky rice was delicious. Definitely would come again.
