Burns St Bistro Menu

Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Sweat & Spicy Bacon Burger will add extra 1080 calories in your diet so skip that as well. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Best maple bacon cheese and egg breakfast sandwiches in town!

They no longer have a sandwich special, which means that most of their sandwiches are at least $8. The chef managed to lose my order, which meant that I waited 30 minutes for my $8 sandwich. It was tasty, for sure, but not worth the price or the wait. The interior is amazing, and I imagine that they get their food locally and from the co-op next door, which I'm a huge fan of. However, until they straighten out their customer service, I wouldn't recommend it.

Yum yum yum. Always have an interesting menu and great eats. A bit off the beaten path but a good local find. Never had a bad meal yet. Open style dining with a small menu, but when you only make a few things you tend to make them well.

As of late, I rarely make purchase decisions without consulting yelp. Based on the reviews I found about this place, I have to say that the food was wonderful specifically the Rogers sandwich with house beef and lamb sausage! YUM :) I rated a 3 stars because one when I asked what was the most popular item in their menu (given that it was my first visit), the attendant said that there was none because the menu is always changing and that it typically upsets people but as a new client, it sounded discouraging. Also, when I asked for recommendations, he didn't appear to have a favorite and recommended 2-3 recipes. I was expecting he would before than glad to share but instead, I spent the next 4 minutes deciding what to order. Even when I realize that this is a layback style of business with a hippy vibe which I love, I would recommend they adopt the standard customer service rule of always greeting guests and thanking them on every interaction. I say this since when I walked in, there was no greeting and when I asked for spicy sauce, the attendant told me to go inside to get it ( I was in the patio ). All to find that there were 2 bottles of "el tapatio" (my favorite) totally empty so I asked for a replacement but she proceeded to tell me to find another bottle In any table I could find it :/ Like the idea and concept but was not impressed with the service

We came for the bacon and it was good, but the biscuits and the coffee were exceptional. If Missoula weren't so far away we would be back in a heartbeat. Hope to be able to participate in one of their special dinners.

I have been to dinner at Burns St on three separate occasions now and each experience has surpassed the last. The combinations that the chefs create here are incredible! I could go on and on, but could never come close to doing the food at this place justice. Just go and taste it for yourself. They have dinner seatings starting at 5 on Friday and Saturday nights. BYOB.

I have only been here a few times, but each and every time the food has been delicious! They have unique breakfast items and their espresso is well-made. This place uses fresh, local ingredients and they have created a menu that is enticing and never fails to impress.

Great place for a home-style breakfast. A little hard to find, look for the co-op next door. Definitely recommended over and chain restaurant such as IHOP

This place has 4 star potential. The guy at the counter was extremely polite. The setup in the restaurant is cool, and I like the fact that they have a "green" cash register that emails your receipt. The food was really good, but the portion was very small. I was done eating in 5 minutes and was hungry again less than an hour later. $7 for a small breakfast portion shat should be twice the size. Also I tipped 20% at the green register, but there really is no table service. You must get up to do everything yourself, i.e. Order something else to eat/drink, bus your table (you don't have to but there is a bin that suggests it) etc., No one will come to your table to ask if you need anything, so the pre-tip was for not.

  • Mark H.

It's an interesting place and concept, but the food, service and atmosphere are pretty middle of the road. I'd give this place one more star if it wasn't so expensive relative to what you get.

BSB is the best eats in ZooTown! Hands down. The menu is always fresh and delicious. Great vegetarian options and they can accommodate all your dietary needs. They cook up some really tasty meats too! Brunch on the weekends is fantastic but don't be surprised if it's busy. The secret is out. BSB is awesome!

Heard about this from locals. It has excellent food and great prices. Ordered the chile verde omelet with a side of maple syrup bacon. Yum! Large seating area, hipster staff. Only cons are slow wifi, lack of power plugs for laptops, and the "breaking Bad" neighborhood that surrounds it. Bonus is the standing desk.

  • Toly M.

Had breakfast here. Fantastic food! Simple yet delicious. The bacon was in this maple'esk, it was delicious! It is in a place that you wouldn't expect to have a restaurant among the houses. Highly recommended

Excellent find considering the offbeat location (near train tracks & across the street from a trailer park). That being said, the neighboring business is a natural/local food store so BSB's ingredient quality is legit. Alas, I was only in town for a weekday morning and could not make it in for brunch or lunch, as those are the BSB'S noteworthy meals. However, I was very pleased with the biscuits & gravy with a side order of the should-be-illegal candied bacon. Excellent, creamy (but not too heavy) sausage gravy smothering tender biscuits with sweet-salty strips of chewy bacon and I was in heaven. The chefs have brought an appreciated element of solid technique and creative flavors to breakfast. Decent coffee accompanied bfast, and I was pleased to taste the beans weren't overly roasted thus tasting burnt. Service and atmosphere are casual. The dining area is bright with high ceilings and large windows. I bet it can get noisy during peak hours. Definitely worth a visit!!

    1) The good: Menu is very limited but food was stellar. Candied bacon, biscuits and gravy, and coffee, for two people $15. Bacon was cooked to perfection. Gravy was perfect; no lumps, not too thick, not too thin, good ratio of sausage to gravy, nice flavor. Portion sizes perfect for being nice and full, without getting to food baby status. Food came out quickly. Coffee super dark, strong, and hot. I give the food 5 stars. 2) The bad and the ugly: showed up, waited in a long line only to find out we were in the wrong line when we got to the front, waited in another long line to order, re-waited in previous long line to pay, waited in another another long line to be seated. WTF??? I'm not one to complain about service, but that is plain stupid. 3) Bottom line: If I go back, I'll try and go at a less busy time? The food was great, but with all the standing around in lines, I was wishing I had stayed home and made my own breakfast.

I want to love BSB because I have so many friends who RAVE about their food. However, I simply refuse to patronize an establishment where the staff (one very large bearded man in particular) goes out of his way to provide the worst possible customer service experience - bordering on hostile in fact. Maybe I'm not hipster enough to be treated like a valued customer? Maybe they don't need to be nice to attract business? Who knows. But regardless of the reason, they won't be getting my hard earned money unless staffing changes. While they were still a relatively new restaurant, I had an opportunity to coordinate a business event in need of catering. Sharing mutual friends with the BSB crew, I thought it would be a great chance to expand their exposure and provide our business clients with a great lunch. The decision on catering was to be decided upon by myself and the office staff, so I took them to BSB for lunch one day to try the food. It wasn't busy, but the large bearded man seemed disinterested in even taking our order. When I asked for no mayo (it makes me physically ill), he scoffed and explained that the sandwich is only good with mayo. I honestly thought he was kidding, but when I chuckled he just stood there glaring at me. When I said I still didn't want mayo, he scoffed again and grumbled under his breath as he angrily scribbled on the order pad. SERIOUSLY? My co-worker was behind me and overheard the exchange so when it was time for his order (also with a "special" request to omit sauce!! Gasp!) he jokingly said, "well you're not going to like my order very much". Rather than lighten up, the large bearded man again stood there defiantly glaring at us both now. UNBELIEVABLE! It was like an unfunny Seinfeld Soup Nazi experience. Thankfully, the other two members of our party where able to order without comment (because they ordered straight off the menu), but there wasn't even a modicum of pleasantry or effort at customer service on any level throughout the entire ordering experience. The other guys working at BSB seemed nice enough, so I'm not sure why they chose to put the grumpiest person I've ever encountered at the order counter. Bad business move in my opinion. After lunch and on the ride back to the office, we made the unanimous decision NOT to hire BSB to cater our event ENTIRELY because of the angry large bearded man who begrudgingly took our order that day. And consequently, I haven't been back since, nor will I ever...unless of course the angry bearded man is no longer the order taker.

I love it here so much that I felt lost the month they shut down for renovations. They make a meatloaf sandwich sometimes. You know how in cartoons when someone falls in love birds chirp and angels show up and all that? When you eat a BSB meatloaf sandwich Chris Farley shows up dancing around as the lunch lady in Adam Sandler's "Lunchlady Land." Every refrain should start with "meatloaf sandwich" and every lunch should, too. I wish you guys would make that sandwich more often. But there are other sandwiches! And they are also excellent. And there is also a brunch that's filled up a giant brunch-sized hole in the heart of Missoula. It's always different and epic and wondrous. The list reads like The Odyssey: Once there was breakfast poutine, and another time there was this insane egg-topped Moroccan lamb sausage sandwich, and there was corned beef heart hash with guinness hollandaise. But not unlike Argos, there's always biscuits and gravy.

The high volume of 5 star reviews at this place is well-justified. I would come here again.

Been here a half-dozen times now for breakfast/brunch and I have always been pleased with the overall experience. Excellent food from local sources with a changing menu. Candied Bacon, how I love thee, let me count the ways. I have been disappointed sometimes when they run out of some items, but hey that is part of the adventure for me. I want to try lunch or dinner sometime soon.

I was very impressed by Burns St. Bistro. I had never heard of it & was looking for a new place to try brunch. A friend recommended it & they serve killer food! There is always unique items on the menu, I had a hard time choosing because everything sounded amazing. I highly recommend trying Burns St. Bistro out!

Used Yelp to find this place as a buddy and I were driving back to Tacoma from the Wind Rivers. It is off the beaten path, but it was by far the best breakfast we could have had in town. From the second we pulled up to the place, my friend and I got a good vibe. It is a cool, hip, urban, northwest-y free-range organic kind of place straight out of Seattle or Portland but with none of the pretentiousness of those cities. The place is clean and modern but feels warm and welcoming. The food was great and perfectly cooked. I had the Sausage Roll and my friend had the Veggie Greens, I think that what it was called. We both loved our dishes. The presentation looked like a 5-star restaurant type plate, and the taste was even better. Their espresso machine was not working, so I had to "settle" for the drip. It was a very good, very strong bold roast. If I lived in Missoula, I would be here at least once a week. I will never pass through this town again without trying to eat breakfast here.

Dinner here is fantastic. 4 course one price dinners, two choices for each course. Weekends only but well worth waiting for. Delicious

So just not a sandwich shop. Missoula has an abundance of good food--both high-end and college/grad student budget choices. But few are as all-around great as Burns St. Bistro, a cool, low-key place with excellent, interesting food. I went for lunch, but can't wait to go back on the weekend for brunch.

Totally awesome find! We were in Missoula for the day... and, as always, Yelp steered us in the right direction! This place was fresh, delicious, and the staff was fun and entertaining. Did I mention they have candied bacon? Yes. They have candied bacon. It's kind of incredible. I ordered it on my burger... and then wished I ordered the BLT so that I cold have more. I don't know how often we will get to Missoula... but when we do, this is on our list, By the way: the shop is across from a community of trailer homes. It weirded me out a little bit at first (especially because I am a city girl and these trailer homes still seem strange to me) but give it a try anyways. ;)

In town for a couple of days and had to sample the top local breakfast recommendation from Yelp. Here's my thoughts: Location: 2 Stars -- GPS took me through a trailer park, where I found the restaurant just on the edge of it in an area with new townhouses. Not a bad location, just not what I would expect and not an area I would look for a restaurant. Building: 4 Stars -- Looks like a repurposed warehouse. Cool open industrial feel. Menu Options: 1 Star -- 5 items written on a white board by the register. Service: 2 Star -- staff was efficient, but not overly friendly. Maybe they sniffed out that I'm not a local. :) They do not have "table service"...order at the counter and they bring the food to you, but that's it. Self-serve coffee. But they were able to accommodate my request for Peanut Butter. Food: 3 Star -- Choose two items from the limited menu. Chocolate chip pancakes and egg/cheese biscuit. Pancakes were fluffy and tasted good overall. I wasn't prepared for the over easy egg on the biscuit... Overall: Ok, but will be looking for other options on my next visit to Missoula.

Food is really delicous- 5 stars for taste! The dishes have thought and lots of flavor, local and creative ingredients. The food is a bit pricey and small portions. Finding a table can be tough.

This place was literally across the street from a trailer park, so I was worried when my wife told me we were going no matter what. Man! I'm glad I did (sorry trailer park people). The food is awesome and we will be eating here again if we ever make our way through Missoula again.

I've tried to love BSB time and again but am continually disappointed with both the service and food. I would recommend sticking with their mainstays, veggie browns, biscuits and gravy ect. which are always good but also a given for a breakfast spot. I recently ordered a $14 special with a home made sauerkraut because I love ferments and had a hard time finding it in the dish just 2 potatoes, half a sausage and some pork with an egg on top. Worst $14 spent on a breakfast and do not understand how they justified charging that for such a small dish poorly executed.

Like stepping through a portal into Portland. Best brunch in town by far and endearingly gruff and unfriendly service. Love it. Tons of creative new specials every weekend, never gets boring.

Yelp helped find this spot as some friends and I passed through on our way to Portland. Couldn't be happier with the place. Food was excellent and service was great. For Sunday brunch you can't go wrong with the Brunch Burger: fried egg, sharp cheddar and bacon on a thick, grass-fed patty. Keep in mind this spot is BYOB, so come ready!

This is not your typical deli. It has a very portlandesqe feel. Attached to a food co-op in an awesome warehouse type building. It's a bit off the beaten path, for a moment I thought yelp was wrong! Husband got mac and cheese I got biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy was awesome, and mac and cheese will forever more be served with a fried egg. Definitely our new permanent stop on our way through. Trust me just stop and eat.

I stopped in Burns St Bistro looking for a decent breakfast and cup of coffee, but mostly a place to study....This place exceeded all of my expectations. Very hip industrial type of building with a welcoming outdoor area, and great music selection. Service was very friendly and gave a great recommendation for the veggie browns (broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, potatoes and an egg). I almost always never order eggs in a restaurant (i'm a very picky eater and vegetarian with a food texture complex). It was absolutely delicious!!! It was so wonderful to have a veg friendly breakfast without mushrooms. I would go back tomorrow morning if they were open to order the exact same thing again, although the french toast sounded amazing too. Another perk, was the huge portion and cost. $9 for too much food (almost wish they had half servings) and endless coffee. Overall, wonderful place for excellent food, atmosphere and service!

i've been holding back on my review of the BSB. well. i've been holding back on my Yelp review of BSB. i've been blabbing about these guys on facebook for weeks...maybe even months. time to get them some Yelp love. the lunch action - i've had the Shakespeare (grilled cheese with huckleberry...YEAH.), the Howell (pork loin, slaw, jalapenos, sriracha aioli), and my favorite the Toole (pulled pork on the most perfect pretzel roll ever). i'm into lunch at the Bistro. it's great. BUT! BRUNCHHHHHHHHH. i am a self-admitted brunch-a-holic. it's to the point where i'm brunching both Saturday AND Sunday at BSB. i literally can't pick a favorite item from brunch. everything i've had has been incredible. blintzes and dumplings and crepes. the BISCUITS AND GRAVY! and let's all just agree that all bacon should be candied. when i ask for bacon -- i mean candied bacon. from here on out. that's the standard. we've been bringing everyone we know to BSB brunch. but now that i think about it. don't go. you'll make it crowded and drink all the coffee. stay home and leave the bacon for me.

This is the only place in Missoula where you can order anything on the menu and never be disappointed. I eat here all the time and I can't get enough. Thank you Burns St. Bistro!

I went there for breakfast and was super excited to try something new and was 20 minutes late. When I asked a very large, bearded Vikingesq looking man (who should have been wearing a hair/face net) who angerly and abrasivly, in a loud voice and drew his hand across his throat replied "NOPE!! We stop at 10:30, just like McDonalds"! This response not only made me never want to eat there again it made me want to call the owners and notify them of their hugely subpar service. That man should never be allowed to greet the public as he is intimidating and aggressive and made me turn around immediately.

Edit: Finally Yelp isn't filtering all BSBs real reviews so we're back up to the 5 stars this restaurant deserves! This place is awesome. Trust this restaurant with your money and digestive tract and you'll be happy you did. _____________________ Why am I giving Burns St Bistro 4 stars? Because apparently Yelp is filtering every single 5 star review and I want this to actually show up (you can read all the filtered reviews by clicking the tiny grey print at the bottom of this page). Burns St. Bistro deserved every 5 star review it's gotten. I have no idea why the other six reviews giving Burns St Bistro have been filtered because they all tell the truth. Burns St is absolutely delish and one of the best new deals in town. The price point is, well, on point and the sandwiches are Biga/ Tagliare quality. I'd suggest that you read the filtered reviews because they pretty much cover anything else you'd need to know about this spot. All I can add is if the loud hirsute man recommends something to you, listen to him. Also, three words to make you fall in love: bacon cheddar scone.

So far, the establishment doesn't deserve the 4-1/2 star rating. Dropped by for breakfast ordering the 2 egg combo from the limited menu. No fresh fruit options despite the reputation for locally grown fare. Service was poor. Only 2 other patrons in the house. Probably not worth the out-of-the-way drive. Ordinary

This is my favorite place to go for soup and sandwiches in Missoula. It's a great combination of reasonably priced and really high quality -- lots of fresh breads, local ingredients, and original offerings. They often have just-a-tad fancy spins on classic sandwiches. Standout menu items include their pulled pork sandwich on homemade pretzel bread (I could eat these pretzel rolls ALL DAY), their take on a Bahn Mi sandwich, and their daily special. Also, they often have a couple of homemade sweet treats available that are always unbelievable -- recently I've had the almond Swedish friendship cake and the bread pudding. Other stuff: - gluten-free Friday - great side salads and coleslaw - breakfast items starting at 7 AM, including savory bacon and cheese scones and biscuits and gravy - I've also been to several events that these guys have catered (weddings, dinner parties) and it is always awesome. - the location is great. Bright interior with outdoor seating available.

First breakfast in Missoula! Was excited based on other reviews to get my munch on. Unfortunately the man behind the counter was anything but nice. He answered questions curtly as if it was a huge issue. I didn't order a side of douche with my breakfast. (The long hair guy was awesome though) besides that dude, the food was AMAZING.

I've been to Burns St on three different occasions and always left satisfied. They have a really great menu and awesome specials. The espresso machine has been broken for awhile though which is a bummer. One of my friends asked for ranch with a salad and apparently ranch is taboo in this bistro.

This is Missoula's best-kept secret and I hope it remains so. It's always so busy it's hard to find a table. But that's a good thing, because it's worth the wait. They made a falafel that is eyes-roll-back-in-your-head delicious. Homemade potato chips. Ambience is relaxed and hip (in a good way) and staff is top-notch. The location is sketchy but that's part of the quirky charm. You'd never expect a 5-star restaurant to be inside. Lucky for those of us in the know!

This place is missoula's hidden treasure! Delicious food, hefty portions, reasonable prices. The veggie browns are the best and very healthy. Add some candied bacon and it doesn't get much better.

Just got some chili verde with an egg for second breakfast. I've had bacon maple cheddar scones that knocked me out too. These guys do breakfast, lunch and brunch creatively and with quality ingredients at prices that anyone can afford. I've also attended a number of catered events done by BSB and always eaten my fill of delicious smoked meats and down-home sides.

Best burger ever! Had the BBQ burger with onion rings and AWESOME bacon! Would love to live in Missoula so I could eat here all the time. Also had a delicious dirty chai!

LOVE Burns St Bistro. I wish that I didn't work the same hours as them, or I would be there every day. Their biscuits and gravy and fried egg sandwich are amazing, their specials are always to die for, and did I mention candied bacon? Yes Please! They also have the cheapest coffee and lattes in town.

Missoula peeps!! If you haven't eaten here yet, do yourself a huge favor and partake as soon as possible. It is absolutely amazing in every way possible! Great atmosphere, completely affordable, and each plate is like a new world masterfully laid in front of you, beckoning the full array of your senses to embark on the expedition of the glory that it is.

I think there is no better food in Missoula. Hands down the greatest chefs, most delectable menu and all around grand dining experience in Missoula. I eat in many fabulous places and am lucky to have access to great food at home and in my dining experiences. Burns is the top choice in Missoula, and if I could eat out only once a week, once a month or once a year, this would be my choice.

This place is da bomb! I had the Toole and a cinnamon roll and want to order another one. Heard the Biscuits and gravy are the best ever...can't validate that, but I'll give it a shot next time I'm in Missoula! A great find!

Typical Missoula easy going crowd, sometimes heavy on the hipster side. As a non hipster I know I'm being judged by trust fund hobos but hey, the food is amazing! I've had just about everything in the menu to include a lot of the specials and I'm never disappointed, the candied bacon is a must every time! If you ever come to Missoula for any reason and they are open, you should make it a priority to eat here. If you live in Missoula and this place is not in your weekly/monthly rotation, you're not doing it right. Go here now!

So fun to have another breakfast and lunch spot in town. I've eaten here with my young daughters at least five times and have had a great experience every time. (My girls are adventurous eaters!) Best biscuits and gravy ever! The prices are good, the staff is awesome and knowledgable, the atmosphere is really hip and the food is delish. What's not to love?

Hip new place for breakfast, brunch, or full on lunch. Excellent ingredients and unique plates make it a place you can really enjoy over and over. I had the pork and eggs and would definitely have it again but I'd love sample the other dishes. My wife had the ratatouille and really liked it as well. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

We stopped here for lunch on the last full day of our trip to Missoula. It's a little off the beaten path, but easy to find. Everything was delicious. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a bowl of their soup of the day (curried chicken), and a side salad. When we asked if they had blue cheese dressing, they said no, but they offered to make some. Nice! We liked the place so much that we stopped by for breakfast the next day on our way to the airport. Pork green chile omelette and a biscuit, egg, and cheese sandwich with candied bacon. Yes! This is one of the best places we've been to in Missoula. We'll definitely come back!

Five stars, duh. This place is the jam! Lunch is a set menu of sandwiches with rotating specials including more sandwiches and soups. Brunch is much the same... only MORE specials. What's not to love? Hit this place up for "Montana's best B's & G's!" They also feature gluten-free bread for all you gluten-intolerant folks. I tried it one day and it's actually purty good. The quality of the food is incredible and it's always expertly prepared. The location is great and parking usually isn't an issue. These guys are talented, that's for sure.

Great menu. Wonderful staff. Nice atmosphere adjacent to the co-op. Portions were a little small (we were hungry). The egg dishes come with only one so next time I'll pay for the second egg. Gnocchi was incredible as was the veg mix.

Burns St. Bistro is such a welcome business in our neighborhood. The food is innovative and fantastic, offering very sophisticated flavors. They post specials on their facebook page, so it's easy to pop down there with a client or for a quick bite. Their bbq and food truck is amazing, too.

I cannot express how much I love this place. The food and drinks are amazing, the waiters/chefs/staff are amazing, and the restaurant is in a cute location surrounded by gardens (minus the trailer park across the street). This is by far my favorite breakfast/brunch place in Missoula -- great food, never too long of a wait, great prices, and locally sourced ingredients! I had the spicy fried chicken special this past weekend and was blown away by how amazing it was! The chefs have a clear understanding of how to play with flavors and create depth in their food! And if the food itself wasn't fabulous enough, a chef came out and brought my boyfriend and I a beautiful (and free!) plate of fried green tomatoes! I wish I knew the chef's name because he truly started our day off right :)

After my review a few days ago, based on a few years back I was contacted by someone claiming to be an owner of Burns named Jason. He offered his apologies and attempted to make up for the ummm shall we say hair epidermis combo found in the utensil section. I thanked him for trying to make it right but did note that I felt uncomfortable accepting anything for my unpleasant time. It was very gracious of him. Even though I did decline I told him I would try the bistro again just to be fair. While I understand when you complain in a restaurant you expect to be given a free meal or given a discount for something, I decided against it since I want this to be an unbiased review. Ive seen other restaurants go out of their way and comp an entire expensive meal then they suddenly get a 5 star review. Im not that type. I would like to say thank you to Jason for paying attention to what customers find problematic in your business. So on to the review from today. It's my birthday today and after worrying about not getting my vehicle back from the mechanic since it was supposed to be done yesterday, I wasn't in the best of moods because I have plans for cafe dolce tonight. Got the call this morning went and picked it up and headed straight to ole Burnsy here. I don't generally have great birthdays or special days. (See my review for my mother's day issue with black cat bakery just to show a bit of unpleasantness.). Anyhoo, my daughter and I went today and ordered a range of things. Being able to order and pay at the same place made things much easier now that it's been changed. Yea its been a while since I ate here so I don't know when it changed. We got an order of wolverine fries, caprese salad, vulture, and I think the Scot which if I'm thinking correctly is the blt. I could be wrong on that one though. We paid and decided where to sit. I slowly looked around trying to find the communal utensil area dreading having to go back and relive it. (I will mention I'm a germaphobe. Skin cells are my absolute worst nightmare.) But I couldn't find the utensil area. So we gave up and took a seat against the wall. The utensils! They're found!! On the table wrapped up in a napkin all nice and away from nasty skin particles!!! Yes I know someone could touch them at the table and skin floats everywhere but let me dream. Our order arrived pretty quickly and I took a photo just to show my appreciation and we dug in. The caprese salad was really good. The balsamic tasted like my own. Which I love. I usually go somewhere to eat things I don't make at home but I'm not passing up a caprese salad, ever. I loved that the basil wasn't perfectly green and that the tomatoes were a little mushy. Why? Because it tasted like home. Like it had been brought from my memaws garden. Yes I'm southern I had a memaw. My daughter tried the wolverine fries first and she said they were her favorite out of everything. For me it was a bit salty, but they were very good. She tried the Scot first and said it was good but had a very sweet aftertaste. I agree, but I also know its candied bacon. The vulture was my favorite and I will tell you why. After biting and chewing on the bread for a bit you get a smoky wood flavor in the bread. Like the flavor you get on a properly made smore. I'm not even suppose to be eating bread because of the yeast, some type of sensitivity drs can't figure out. But I couldn't stop eating it. So fucking good. Yes I said fucking. Best thing I've had in a long time. You might be asking yourself why the change in rating after only one visit? Because I believe in giving people a chance. They've changed up what I didn't like about the dining experience, and it could also be that I'm not much of a breakfast fan and that's what I had last time. I went in anonymously, didn't advertise that I've complained and gave them a chance to wow me without knowing it. And they did. I think 4 stars is a fair rating after such a horrible first experience. If it consistently stays this tasty i will move it up to 5.

This is a nice local place with a rotating menu using fresh local ingredients. The restaurant is a big warehouse type place with a food coop attached. It's a good place if you have little diners because they can run around. We were here on a Sunday which means it was a brunch menu. The Tater tot casserole was excellent - made with sausage, tater tots, onions, cheese and topped with an over easy egg. Yum! The biscuits and gravy were also very tasty and you can get a half portion. The pork chile verde had a nice flavor and not too spicy. They also had a wide variety of mix and match breakfast sandwiches. Definitely a place to try in Missoula!

You'd be surprised how nice and great the food is for the area it is located. Wonderful food and selection that tastes every bit homemade and fresh. Sensible portions at sensible prices. Relaxed atmosphere, nice large windows bring in plenty of natural lighting, and feels spacious with the high ceilings. Can be busy at times but never have had any excessive wait for food. So I've been meaning to come and eat here for along time but never got around to it. The location of this place was a little sketchy with the Hollywood style trailer park by it. But once inside it was a nice experience, surprisingly it was packed. Staff was very friendly and the food was served hot and fresh! I had a burger with a egg and sweet bacon with fresh cut fries. It hit the spot is all I can say. Over all great little place, I'll be coming back for sure.

Holy candied bacon, Batman! Wow. I've never had candied bacon before, but they put some on my "Brunch Burger" along with an over-easy egg and some sharp cheddar cheese. So good! The french fries were good too. I cleared my plate (or basket, as the case may be). I spoke to the staff at Burns St Bistro and found out that their menu changes regularly, so you may not find the "Brunch Burger" the next time you visit, but from what I understand, they make use of the candied bacon fairly frequently, so go check the place out! I'm sure you'll find something tempting on their menu, no matter what they may be serving. I also found out that they will be serving dinner on Friday and Saturday nights (see pics), so make a reservation if you are interested.

Don't judge a place by it's location. Burns St. Bistro has a nice atmosphere that has Missoula written all over it. The food was fantastic! I had the Scott sandwich, which is a candied bacon blt with aioli sauce on ciabatta bread. It was a bit on the pricey side though.

Might just have been an off-moment, but the meal fell below expectations. Fun atmosphere and looking forward to couple recommended dishes: Biscuits & Gravy and Brunch Burger. Waited 20 minutes and had to ask a server to check on our order, which then arrived quickly. Biscuits were hard, gravy was room temp. Sent one order back, because it was burned. Manager (I think) came out and was very kind. He brought out a replacement bowl of gravy and more biscuits. Flavor of the gravy was good, but biscuits were still hard and lacked flavor. On a positive note, the burger was very good and served hot.

You know, I really tried to like Burns St. Bistro. So many people recommended it to me and have gone on at such lengths about how amazing the food was that I figured, well, all these people couldn't possibly be wrong. Unfortunately, this was not to be the case, The first experience I had with their cuisine was at the Draught Works customer appreciation day, which was being catered by Burns St. Bistro. I received a smallish andouille sausage and a smudge of sauerkraut (I believe it was sauerkraut- it's been a little while.) I remember it being only okay, and in no way a satisfying meal, but I figured that hey, for free, it wasn't too bad, so no big deal. The second time I experienced Burns St. was at their main location on Valentine's Day. My girlfriend and I stopped in for brunch because we wanted to see what the place was all about. The wait for our food was fairly long and the staff seemed a bit harried, but it was pretty busy so that didn't really bother us. What did bother us, though, was our food. I got the special, which was a "heart shaped" hamburger patty on top of white rice, covered with a fried egg and brown gravy. I didn't really care that the patty in no way resembled a heart because, you know, whatever. I did care that the rice, while having a nice consistency, was bland and flavorless, the patty was poorly seasoned and completely forgettable, and the gravy was either straight-up from a packet or may as well have been. I guess the egg was okay? In any case, the entire dish was just totally blah and unexciting. My girlfriend got the pork chile verde, which sounded appetizing on paper but ended up being wholly unremarkable, except for the giant chunks of cotija. Cotija is a pretty crumbly cheese, so there's really no reason it shouldn't have been broken down smaller, but nope! Big ol' knuckle sized chunks of it mixed in with the sour cream. She thought the sour cream had gone seriously bad and was put off the meal entirely, even after I gave it a taste and told her what was going on. Not a very good presentation on either dish, and neither portion was large enough to justify the price we paid. The third experience, which just happened today and actually cheesed me off to the extent that I actually wrote my first Yelp review, was just plain awful. We went down to Draught Works (love that place, by the way) for the St. Pat's celebration, and we made the mistake of paying 12 freaking dollars for the large order of corned beef and cabbage from the Burns St. food truck. We figured that we could split that and do us pretty well for a decent sized, delicious meal. However, what we received was a compete and total disgrace of a dish. For the princely sum that we paid we received, on a very small paper plate, a tiny pile of shredded, greasy corned beef, a couple lumps of cabbage, two tiny Yukon Gold potatoes, and a somewhat decently sized side of Dijon horseradish. The corned beef had no large slices or chunks and consisted mainly of small odds and ends, and the copious grease-not juice, mind, but gross, globby grease- coated the insides of our mouths with a nasty layer of slime until we swished it away with our beer. The cabbage was just the same as far as grease was concerned and a large percentage of what we received was a chunk of cabbage core, which Burns St. decided was a totally acceptable thing to serve to a customer. The potatoes were merely boiled potatoes and the Dijon horseradish, while perfectly acceptable, was only that. Overall, it was absolutely the worst meal I've had in quite some time. Having attended culinary school, I know a little bit about food service and cooking, and having grown up in Butte, Montana, I know a little bit about corned beef and cabbage. I'm not just pulling gripes out of nowhere, I have actual experience- quite a decent amount of it- doing what they do. In my opinion, both personal and professional, Burns St. Bistro does not live anywhere up to its own hype. They pride themselves on being local and sustainable and for having great food and an awesome, unique atmosphere, but I feel as though the aesthetics and reputation are only a smokescreen hiding the fact that the food itself is wholly unremarkable and entirely overpriced. It might -might!- be possible that I only caught them on bad days, or the dishes weren't up to their usual standards, and that the place is actually quite good and I should try other items on the menu. However, after three hard strikes, I see no reason to keep giving them my business and trying to like them, especially when I live in a town that is chock full of restaurants I already like that I *know* will serve me better food and more of it for lower prices and less pretension. I have absolutely no reason to return to Burns St. Bistro.

The breakfast at Burns St is amazing. As others have noted, the candied bacon is worth the trip. Biscuits and gravy is some of the best I've had. This isn't your typical, huge-portions, cheap diner breakfast, but it's not an overpriced, micro-meal either. Sensible portions of delicious, local food for a fair price. Give it a try.

We will go again, Thanks, Judy Helm Wright, author and "Pet Grief Coach" from the Last Best Place--Missoula, Montana

Great food. The burger was so delicious and creative. Side salad is green and beautiful. Green goddess dressing is fantastic. Kids area has hula hoops. Service was great. We're from Portland, which is quite a foodie city. This restaurant was on par with Portland cuisine. Highly recommended.

  • Kai F.

It weirded me out a little bit at first (especially because I am a city girl and these trailer homes still seem strange to me) but give it a try anyways. ;)

Best brunch in town. These guys keep it fresh with great weekly specials. Love all three owners. Super nice guys who always bring a smile to my family's faces.

I've been to Burns St on three different occasions and always left satisfied. They have a really great menu and awesome specials. The espresso machine has been broken for awhile though which is a bummer. One of my friends asked for ranch with a salad and apparently ranch is taboo in this bistro.
