I love this place! Great food, awesome service and I love the atmosphere up on the hill. Great place to bring the family.

Just good, upscale homemade food at a good price. Make the short drive from Missoula, you won't regret it! They have wild salmon which is always a sign of a restaurant that cares. Haven't had a bad meal yet!

The food was great and our waiter was super nice! We ate here two days in a row because of him. He special made us cherry Pepsi's because they don't have it one tap and they were super good. The cheesecake chimi was super delicious as well as the New York Flat bread pizza. This place is too bomb!

If you ever get a moving company to move all your shit across (or half way across) the country, they'll give you a list of things that they either won't carry (liquids) or shouldn't carry (valuable papers, jewelery, musical instruments). For this. reason, I found myself loading up my car with a strange collection of toxic art supplies, wine, guitars and camping stoves. This was not going to be a relaxed ride. It was going to be a solo marathon from Portland, OR to the Maddle of Wisconsin. I was giving myself one night sleep near Missoula and then 22 hours of.... The Java and Me. A cup, a cup, a cup , a cup, a cup. I called my friend in Arlee, MT as soon as I got cell service after entering the Clark Fork river drainage. After several dropped calls we arranged to meet at the Busk Shot? The Buck n' Short? The Buck Snot!! Just four miles north of the Interstate on rte 200. This place rocked. I could've eaten crap at the truck stop near the interchange but would they have had feta-stuffed mushrooms apps? Prime Rib Dip, and Mushroom Swiss Burger all local and served with sweet potato tater-tots? If I hadn't been sitting all day, I would have tried their steaks, this is Montana after all, where beeves are for dinner. Good beer selection, the company of an old friend, ...perfect! Sometimes it's definitely worth getting a few miles off the highway, This was one of them. Check it out.

This is an average small-town restaurant. The decor is hard to pin down...you'd think with a name like Buck Snort it'd be exclusively lodge-like. But the room in which we were seated had a nautical theme. That seemed odd, but we went with it. The waitress was friendly and attentive and got our orders right on the money. The menu was fairly small, but we were there near lunchtime, so perhaps the dinner menu is larger. I had the pork loin sandwich, which was hot and crispy and fairly large, like you'd expect a pork loin to be. It came with cole slaw which was tangy and good. My friend had the Buck Snort burger, which was quite good. He had his with pepper jack cheese, which he said was a nice touch. Possibly the best part of our lunch was the French Press Coffee which they brought to our table. We let it steep the suggested four minutes, then pressed it...and it was really, really good. Very enjoyable. All in all not an unpleasant experience. The folks were friendly, the food was good. Not outstanding, but with a name like Buck Snort we didn't expect it to be. it's worth a try.

Went for the breakfast buffet---it was alright. Some foods were hot but others were room temperature. Service was excellent and atmosphere could use some help although the bar area is really great. We will go back to experience dinner --- not ready to give up. I think the owner is fairly recent to this establishment so deserving of another chance.

Met the new owners...Ben and Lisa at the bar. Great Prime sandwich, Lots of laughs. Only a few miles north of town.

I stop in at the Bucksnort about once a week on a drive between St. Ignatius and Missoula. It's a perfect de-compress place when leaving Missoula and just as good for ramping back up to be in the 'zoo' after time spent in the peaceful Mission valley. Sit -ting at the bar during cocktail hour(s), anytime from 4-7 pm I have heard some mighty colorful stories from the regulars of the area. They serve dinner 'til 10. I really like the new owners; (one and a half years now) Lisa and Ben. Both of them are completely hands on in this restaurant and that kind of attention to detail shows; in their menu, their new decor, their fare, their customer care. They know what I drink and are pouring it the minute I walk in the door. They make a mean Steak Diane and when I reserve a seat for dinner they put me at my favorite table (in winter, that'd be right next to the fireplace!) There are numerous T.V's and Ben is a fan of golf, so you can be sure one of them will be tuned to it. They also have gambling machines, including powerball lotto. If you have any hawaiian connections that was where they last called home - I recall a purdy surf board hangin' up on the wall in the bar...and in July, they host a traditional luau, with lotsa fresh fish brought in. These folks are into celebrating seasonal festivities with unique and traditional cuisine - I heard they recently served up a turducken for Mother's Day. Live music is often booked as entertainment. They are just about to open up their outdoor seating, nothin' better than fresh mountain air and great food. The bar is well stocked from Courvoisier, to Hendricks Gin, pint glasses are chilled. Tho there is no cell service on most of the Hill, nor in the canyon, Bucksnort has its own little pocket of reception which makes it a legitimate place to conduct business phone calls over a cold one - right? Its a quick 12 miles from exit 104 in Missoula. Definitely worth a side trip from I-90 as the canyon is lovely and there are great views of the Rattlesnake mountain range, and the Mission mountains just a little farther up the road. June 23 is the big pre-4th of July fireworks show (begins at dusk) at Gray Wolf casino (biggest selection in the land) and Bucksnort will host a party afterwards. This would be a perfect introduction to the place if you havent checked it out yet.

On vacation in beautiful Montana we ran into this place. The name caught my attention. Rustic place with nice atmosphere. Excellent service and the food was fairly priced. We enjoyed hanging out in the bar and the people running the place made us feel comfortable. I wish we had more places back home like this!! Thanks Montana and Bucksnort. We'll be back soon!!!
