Not the greatest breakfast around but diffidently not the worst. The service is decent and what you would expect from a smaller cafe. You are seated promptly and the waitresses are friendly and accommodating. The coffee and espresso is good The food is fair. This place has a prime opportunity to capitalize on the market share that is becoming available due to the recent failings of bonnelli's Bistro down the street. If they kicked up the quality of their food about a half a notch, increase their organic selection (as they tried when they first opened) and advertized a little, they could do quite well.

Great service, nice ambiance, and tasty food! Loved the espresso bar too! We came for Sunday brunch, and I ordered the California Benedict eggs and they were delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The service was friendly and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I would gladly come back here.

Loved the service. It was prompt with a smile and always eager to please. I asked for something off the menu and they excelled at adjusting. Pretty good espresso. Loved the food. And best of all, very reasonably priced. Around $20 for a breakfast for two.

Very friendly staff, fast service, an awesome old building, and great food. I had the tomato bisque which was awesome. Something different. The California burger was juicy. My kids loved their food and felt more than welcome there.

I like this place for years now. Nice ambience. I returned for lunch after a long time away and I found the bread for sandwiches to not be the whole wheat, substantial bread I've had here in the past but a store-bought very weak whole wheat bread. I hope this shortcut can be fixed as it literally ruined my sandwich. I still love this place. Please fix this : )

Hope you're not in a hurry. Waited over 40 minutes for our food and the burger was charred the Ruben was ok. No beer or wine available. Bummer.
(2)Jason M.
Great staff, fast service, and outstanding food! The old building is awesome and beautiful!
(5)Marcelo A.
They serve breakfast until 2pm. The California Benedict is a must have $9.25 Create your own Scrambled eggs for $ 8.65 with 4 toppings. Would give this place 6 stars if I could.

Split Rock has been under new ownership since February 2015. Prior to the new ownership, we had a bad experience and then a good one, but we still had not put Split Rock on our breakfast and lunch rounds because the bad experience was just so bad. We went again yesterday and Split Rock has officially redeemed themselves. Thank you to the new owners for taking over, because this is such a beautiful spot for a restaurant. We were in and out in 45 minutes with a California Beni and Soup and Salad Combo. All for 16.70. Crazy good prices, fast service, high quality ingredients, and beautiful location are going to make this one of our top 3 places to eat American breakfast and lunch in Kali (Knead No 1, Split Rock No 2, Sykes No. 3).

This place is a hidden gem in downtown Kalispell. It has a gorgeous interior that really shows the history of the building. And the food is all fresh and you can tell it's made fresh for each customer. The staff was all amazingly friendly and welcoming.

First off this spot has a lovely interior. Definitely gives you a great feel for the town if you are just rolling through. Very good prices and high quality food! Our server was quick, kind, and attentive. We settled for their classic breakfast plates and were impressed by their tea and coffee. Their menu items are not adventurous but that's not a deterrent. If you are looking for a bite in this town I think you will be happily sated.

Great food, excellent service and beautiful atmosphere. We had the Eggs Benedict, California Benedict, Southwest Wrap and sausage and eggs. All were delicious and the coffee is great.
(5)Nicki C.
Wonderful atmosphere here. The food outshines it even with healthy choices with fair prices! The side salad that came with my sandwich was a full side order and some of mixed greens and toppings.

Stopped in for a late lunch on our way to glacier national park from Washington state. Great service and amazing food! We all were thrilled with the food.
(5)Ian M.
Ok, so I'm really late to the party on this one, but we just went for the first time and we were completely impressed. The food was amazing and pretty cheap, service was good, atmosphere was good and everything was nice and clean. We will absolutely be returning as often as possible. We decided to try it based on the other Yelp reviews and I'm glad we did.

Delicious. I ordered the chicken pesto. It was excellent as was the Chardonnay. I needed to let it warm up a little... Maybe their fridge is too cold? Totally worth the wait. Chicken was moist and flavorful, pasta was perfectly cooked, artichokes were perfect. Service was impeccable. Servers were knowledgable and competent. I never waited on anything. What a delightful dining experience! So glad I stopped here... Definitely rivals a NYC eatery! Keep it up!

Love love love the food at Split Rock. The service is fast and the waitresses are all super friendly. I love how the interior is set up inside. The coffee is good and the food has unique selections, options that come with smoked gouda cheese among some other things. I am pretty picky about my food when I am out to eat because I figure if I am going to pay for someone to make me something it should be better than I can make it myself. But then again, you also have the fact that you aren't having to slave over your food and someone else is. So theres that. This is right by the church we go to so if we are ever in a hurry we know that this place will be an easy fast bite to grab before heading over there.

Wonderful ambience, great service, delicious pork tenderloin with chipotle cherry sauce entrée! What more can you ask...?

best food I had in Kalispell! After we checked into the Grand Kalispell hotel, we walked down the street to find a place a place for lunch... and figured this sounded interesting. best decision we made. The burger was so amazing, that it didn't even need any fixings... and the chicken sandwich was spectacular. it was a chicken breast cooked to perfection, on a perfectly toasted bun. The waitresses were all very nice, and for as run down as we were after traveling, they were super helpful and complimentary! We spent a week in montana, and the whole time, we didn't find a burger or chicken sandwich better than we had here. The building is a historic one with a really neat past, and all the employees were happy to tell the story of it. If you're ever in Kalispell, eat at the Split Rock... you will not regret it!

I have dined here several times, and its great! Where else can you get a latte for $2, an amazing breakfast for $5 (between 8-9 am) or a beer and a burger for $10?! In a gorgeous, relaxed setting? Not many places in Montana, i can assure you. They have many gluten free options too, such as fresh buns for your burger. Locally made! For breakfast we have tried the split rock biscuits and gravy, the sausage and eggs, the gouda scramble (one of my favorites) and several specialty burgers. Fresh, tasty ingredients and usually pretty prompt service. Not the warmest service, mind you. But that's Montana.

Great quaint and quiet atmosphere with authentic and rustic feel. Very open with high ceilings. Like to have breakfast here as the prices are in line with most other places, but the quality is much better. Parking is a challenge. Not much around but on the streets or the parking lot on 3rd st down the alley. Be careful not to park in the several "30 minute" spots also on the street, unless you are popping in for a quick drink.
(5)Mark T.
I do a lot of traveling. I always choose restaurants with a local feel and never a chain. Fresh ingredients are key. This place has everything. Great service, great food and nice Montana looking building. Enjoy
(5)Alexandra E.
One star because the only vegetarian food at dinner are some appetizers (which are so-so). The breakfast is decent, but nothing to write home about.

Good food at a great restaurant. Nice atmosphere. It's in an older building off Main Street. Nice interior. Food is good and service is equal. Serves great breakfast.
(4)Melanie M.
Great breakfast and friendly staff! Cakes, bacon, eggs Benedict were delicious. Portion sizes were large. Excellent and for your buck. Amazing atmosphere!
(5)Carl S.
Coffee was extra hot. Breakfast burrito with hollandaise sauce was pretty good. Breakfast potatoes were a little undercooked and needed salt. Portions are big and overall the food was pretty good. Service was about average. Price was fair.
(4)Katy B.
Horribly slow service. ..no follow through. Very marginal food. Not impressed. Not going back.
(2)Amber H.
I've recently been complaining there is nowhere in Kalispell to enjoy brunch on Sundays. And then, I stumbled upon Split Rock cafe! Open 7 days a week, they are exactly what I was looking for. Cute interior, great atmosphere and service. The coffee was wonderful and our food was delicious- the California Benedict for breakfast was my favorite! We will definitely be back for mimosas and to try dinner one night!
(5)BeccaJo D.
My hubby and I were going to eat at Hops Grill but it was closed for lunch. We happened to see the Split Rock and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the open yet quaint atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the BLT which had more lettuce than I'm used to - but the bacon and spread used were so good! Hubby had southwestern wrap which he declared was delicious. Small menu, but worth a try!
(5)Jen R.
Really good food. The servers aren't all that amazing but there OK. Soy chai latte for $2 great deal!
(4)Jeff V.
Great space in the historic old KM (Kalispell Mercantile) building downtown. You are surrounded on 3 sides by bricks 120 year old! It's a large, open, high ceiling restaurant with an awesome old (very old) wooden bar from yesteryear that you can't help but admire. Food off the menu is great and they have a decent beer selection. The fantastic staff and the ambiance really make this place shine.
(4)Braelin S.
Love this place! Great burgers, awesome wine and beer selection. The ambiance is pretty cool, and the bartenders and servers are always nice. Still haven't come in for breakfast, but I'll amend review when I finally do!

For a almost 60 dollar bill, it was not what I was expecting. Went in with a group and half of our meals were cold, like they were sitting under a lamp for a few minuets. My turkey sandwich was a good CONCEPT, but was very very poorly executed. Half my table got breakfast and there scrambles were dry and brown. The other half got lunch (including me) which looked slightly better. The service was so-so, never had a full water glass, but we weren't bothered. After a few more years of experience than maybe this place will get better. Good luck to you all.

Fabulous find in a small town. A varied and interesting menu, coupled with a great service and live music was a real treat to stumble upon in Kalispell. The only thing missing was a few more people - how can this place be only half full? Hidden away, just off Centre Street, Split Rock is discrete an unassuming from the outside - perhaps too discrete! The lack of a menu outside almost made us turn away but inside the style was contemporary and comfortable. Between the three of us the swordfish, pasta and steal all hit the mark. Adding in live jazz from a metalophone and double bass set off the local beers perfectly, and a fine meal on a fine evening was enjoyed by. Spread the word, Split Rock Café is a find worth finding again and again.

We've been back for breakfast and lunch a few times and the food was good but every time the service was slow and mediocre. Last visit, the service left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I may not go back because of it. My coffee was delivered and set across the table from me so I did not know it was there, was never refilled the whole visit, no condiments were given to us with our burgers and the waitress never returned to check on us so we had to get up and find someone to get ketchup. After ordering our drinks, another waitress walked up and asked us to re-order them even though she knew we had already ordered. When she came for our order, we told her we weren't ready to order but she continued to take one person's order and then stood there waiting when we told her a few times we weren't ready to order yet. The food was ok, but I wasn't impressed as I was the first time. My chicken sandwich had hardly any chicken on it. I'm disappointed because I want Kalispell to have some good restaurants so badly!

It was our second visit here and it's as good as I remembered! I loved the scramble and my wife enjoyed the Eggs Benedict. Fallon, our server was very attentive and nice! We will be back!
(5)Issie S.
Stopped here a few months ago for breakfast. Love the building and the staff are very nice. Had an egg scramble with veggies. It was nothing special. the potatoes that came with it were very dry. 5/10 for the egg scramble. 2/10 for the potatoes. I had a decaf coffee which was acceptable 6/10. The toast was supposed to be wholewheat, but it was not so 2/10 for that. Waitress was very nice 8/10 I would not eat breakfast here again, but I know several people who have had lunch and like it so I may give the lunch a try.

The surf and turf dinner was so amazing. The cherry balsamic reduction on my steak was so good. And the steak was as tender as filet mignon. The waitress mentioned the chef is fresh out of cordon bleu. And the live music was great! Good decor too with lots of 19 century kalispell photos. Well done!

Great food, awesome service!
(5)Pam S.
Homemade rolls on my hamburger and fresh cut fries hubby had a breakfast he said was good.
(4)Andrea V.
Really solid happy hour menu, with veggie options including artichoke dip and some nachos that rocked my world (not much in the way of Mexican food here in NW Montana). Microbrews on tap, and the interior of this cafe is startlingly beautiful with exposed brick, stained glass windows, and a lovely wood bar. Live music on Friday nights, too! Dinner menu looks impressive, but full disclosure: haven't tried it yet. Great place to take out of town guests in historic downtown Kalispell.

Spur of the moment breakfast and decided to try the Split Rock Café. Wow what a find. Great atmosphere, superb food and excellent service. The servings were just the right size and all of the food was fresh.
