Norms was a real treat. As Brittany B mentioned, it's situated right next door to a cowboy/girl store, so you can do some shopping while you wait for your food. Service, prices, and food were great! I had a yummy and lean buffalo burger (highly recommend), and sweet potato fries. Norms also has candy by the bulk for sale, so if you've got to feed that sweet tooth, they can do that too.

Cute little place, kids are going to love it. Candy, a lot of it, by the pound. Its trying for an old fashioned 50's diner vibe but it would be cool if they did a little more remodeling at some point and got rid of the ugly dropped ceiling and other remnants of the 70's. Scads of magazines. I think I'll go back and try a burger, people looked pretty happy with their burgers and shakes.

Cute little country size store. First time going there today. They had over 600 different types of candies to choose from and a small little cafe with awesome milk shakes. They had over hundreds of magazines to read to. I will be going back.

Quite disappointed, given the previous glowing reviews. Service and food was indifferent - the cheeseburger was missing its cheese, the buffalo patty was overdone (no, not just leaner meat!) and was served with some of the wax paper still attached, the water was never refilled, and we never did get our ranch dressing. Cool environment, and definite potential, but this meal was so far from being a winner i don't think I'd return.

We went the day after Christmas (Sunday) around 2PM. Burgers were decent, hot dog sandwich was weak (don't recommend), fries okay, malts very good, kids had fun looking at the candy. Service was quite slow (25 minutes to get the food after ordering) given that there were few people there but maybe they were cleaning up after the lunch rush or maybe they were understaffed because it was the day after Christmas or Sunday, don't know but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. If this place were in the middle of NYC or LA or Seattle, you'd give it 3 stars - nothing special. But Kalispell has so very little to offer in the way of dining choices beyond fast food that I give it another star. For Kalispell, it's pretty good. You're much better off going 15 minutes north to White Fish where there are much better choices.

Fun stop if you're in town. They have lots of candy and magazines in additional to a traditional milk shop vibe. They have a fun old time soda fountain menu and are right on the main street close to Visitors Center.

Best hamburgers in the Valley!! They keep it simple (no lettuce, tomato or anything fancy) but once you taste a bite of the juicy burger you will realize the focus is on the delicious beef! They will throw on some grilled onions if you ask and I recommend them. The fries are delicious as is their "fry sauce". Their magazine selection and let's not forget about ALL THAT CANDY are all just a bonus!

I just work right down the street and was looking for a place to grab lunch really fast. Everyone was so friendly and got my order super fast, and the food was great and came out really quick. Super cute surroundings and their fudge is amazing as well. I will definitely be back with friends! :)

Norms turned this quasi-vegetarian into a meat eater for the day!! Stopped by Norms News on our way back to Missoula from Glacier National Park. It's located in the quaint town of Kalispell which offers a nice Main Street to walk around with some neat little shops. My sister insisted that we stop at Norms and that I try a burger. I am so glad I ignored my hesitation to eat red meat on this day! We sat at the bar and it felt like we had gone back in time at this most adorable 1950s diner. The burger was so full of flavor I ate the whole thing rather than sharing, which was the original plan! Soft bun, simple toppings, and a flat top crispness made this burger worth every bite! The fries were also good-fresh, hot, and well salted. Norms also offers made to order sodas and I ordered a cherry cola which was served in an old fashioned glass and came with a maraschino cherry. On the way out we sampled some of their fudge and the rest of the way home wished we had bought some to take with us. If you're looking for a great place to stop for lunch in Kalispell, Norms can't be beat!

Great little burger/shake stop. The burgers are fresh and the helping of fries you get is ginormous. They also have a great selection of candy they sell by the pound. Their fudge is out of this world!! So many great flavors to choose from.

The place is like a 50's style soda shop that's located in the perfect downtown Kalispell Montana location in a legitimate historic building on main street. It couldn't be anymore iconic of they era it represents and the place has a plethora of nickel candy, desserts, treats and more! The staff is friendly and the service is excellent. They cook everything on a line right behind the counter and the simple American cuisine cooked to perfection definitely keeps you coming back for more. They've got mine and my families business for life!

Can't get lettuce or tomatoes with hamburgers- shakes are great --service depends who your server--may have to flag them down -but very nice overall

We had a AWESOME waitress, and the other support staff is very friendly. It's too bad other people had bad service experiences, but understandible. We had a very good lunch, a few things to note on observation: * French fries are not home-made, unfortunately. * Burgers were good, but a little small - think In-N-Out sized. Not a bad thing, just worth noting. * Milkshakes can be split because they are HUGE! The place was hoppin' during the lunch hour. We were there for awhile (we had a party of 8) so I couldn't tell you if the service was fast or slow. But a great place to grab a burger and fries.

Basic diner fare. Burgers with cheese, chili, onion, pickle, mayo, mustard, kethcup, cooked a little pink. The cool thing about Norms is their Buffalo Burger, called the Big Buff. It's only $6.50 and that's a good price. My husband said it was well seasoned. Two people can share their half fry and have plenty. People seem to like their chili cheese fries and they're known for their clam chowder on Fridays. It's a quaint ice cream soda joint with oldies music, candy galore, and the old diner feel and layout. It's not outta this world food, though. I'd give it 2 stars if it werent for all the milkshakes, sodas, fudge, and the amazing candy selection. Sykes is still my favorite diner in town. Hands down, better fries, better burgers, better selection and value at Sykes (we always have leftovers) and Hops is THE place for gourmet burgers. But Sykes ain't open after 3 on Sunday and you can't afford Hops every day. So, here we are.....its spendy for what you get....so we'll look for another late afternoon Sunday joint....

I really enjoyed my buffalo burger. It might have been a little undercooked for some but it was perfect for my liking. I had a long work day and hadn't eaten all day and I walked in about 6:50pm and my order was taken. As I looked around they were cleaning up and ready to close. I asked when they closed and she said 7:00pm. I wouldn't have known because they were willing to cook me up anything with out being bothered that it was closing time. Great staff, friendly, and the food was perfect after a long day without food.

Fun 50's era-esque diner, good milkshakes, great for families. We stopped by in pursuit of the ever popular huckleberry milkshake. This business is clearly family run, there were young girls a a young boy helping us. They were fast and friendly. We all ordered huckleberry milkshakes, they were served to us in old-school sundae glasses, and they left the silver cup they use to mix the shake (giving us a little extra). The milkshake was simply delic-a locally made huckleberry "hard" ice cream blended with milk. Looking over their menu they also serve burgers, hotdogs, and fries for a reasonable price. It was a little spendy for a milkshake (6 bucks), but you did get a lot of ice cream for your money and could easily share one shake between two people. Next time I'm hankering for a shake in Kalispell, I'll be stopping by. :)

Can't believe I have lived here for over 7 years and I just discovered Norms News. This will be a family favorite (too bad kids are already grown up). Not many places trust their patrons on their honor but Norms still does. They don't give you bills - you just tell the cashier when you're finished what your table ordered. There is a wide variety of magazines and newspapers to read while you're dining and a ton of candy the kids can go crazy over on your way out. Best of all is the soda fountain and throw-back theme Norm has. Although the food wasn't the best (still good though) this place was a real treat and we will be coming back.

The only reason am giving this 3 star is because i had a good waitress. There was one grumpy blonde waitress whose tantrum got to me. She was throwing espresso holders in the sink, splashing water on staff, and grunting. The guy who was waiting was also so pissed with her, gave her a look but didn't say anything. Food was ok, ordered pork sandwich, but my pork was fried to the point of burnt. I survived this and left a good tip only because my waitress was nice and polite.

As a first-time visitor from Seattle, I wanted to sample the best fare Montana could offer. Based on a prior review, we decided to check out the huckleberry shake at Norm's News. The shake did nt disappoint-it was creamy and cool, with the distinctive flavor and sweetness of the huckleberry. My father-in-law decided to get a cup of coffee ice cream and thought about getting two scoops, though the lady behind the counter cautioned him to see how large one scoop was first. After having seen the huge portion, he was glad to have stuck with only one scoop. The ice cream was smooth and flavorful, and reminded us of Haagen Dazs quality-stuff. The interior is warm and inviting, with a rather long sandwich counter, different kinds of candy for sale in the front, an additional tables and chairs in the back. If you're ever in the area, it's certainly worth a visit!

Old school burgers here. Hand pattied daily and cooked on a flat top like it is supposed to be done. Buns toasted on the flat top and the secret sauce is worth trying. The taco soup was amazing. 1/2 order of fries is enough for 2 people. If your looking for the best old school burger in a classic diner then check out Norm's

Great little diner for when you're a visitor just passing through and want a burger or grill cheese sandwich. In my case I go there for the jelly belly jelly beans...ok, maybe other candy too. Not bad for locals either who desire a quick bite at a reasonable price.

I loved this place. It's been around for over 73 years and it's easy to see why: great service, great food, and very reasonable prices. Plus, they're open at 4 in the afternoon, when two other Kalispell restaurants were closed for serving food; you could get beer at one, or pie at the other - but you couldn't order food between 3 and 5 - really?? What happens when you're hungry at 4? Anyways, Norm's saved the day, by being open and serving food! I opted for a simple grilled cheese sandwich, and it was incredible. The next time I ate here (a day later) I got two grilled cheese, they were that tasty. And oh my gosh, order the huckleberry shake. This was hands down the best shake I've ever had in my life. The creamiest, most perfect tasting shake EVER. I'd never even tasted a huckleberry before that day, and now I'm hooked. I have tortured dreams about that shake, because I live in Texas, and can't get one until the next time I return to Montana. So yeah, if you're in Kalispell, check out Norm's!
