We finally were able to check this place out. It stands out as a beacon of taste on the charming main street of Kalispell. It's smaller than expected, but we were able to be seated right away. They have an extensive beer menu and daily specials. Service was professional and prompt. I had the vegetarian burger. It was handmade deliciousness. It's large and a little messy so you may need a fork to finish it off. Mine came with a side of coleslaw, but the burger was so much, I didn't try it. A very popular place for good reason.

Hop's makes me think neither downtown, nor grill. It's more like town gastropub with a hint of country club. Anyway, back to Hop's Towntown Gastropub: The menu includes a variety of hard-to-find mammal patties *oooh, ahhh.* The Yak burger won my vote due to superior accoutrements, potential for songs that include the word "yak," and I've-never-tried-that-before factor. With Tibetan BBQ sauce, ginger, onion, and un-gaminess, this tender, juicy amalgamation of Southern and Asian flavors dressed to impress. My recommendation? YAK YAK YAK YAK... you oughta know by now.

Best meal that we had while in Montana. The server was hugely helpful with giving us a list of local recommendations, and her beer suggestions were absolutely spot on. Those burgers, though. Those burgers. Major yum. I had the yak burger with the pickled ginger and Himalayan BBQ sauce. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious.

Great food, atmosphere and service. Beer selection outstanding. Arrived Friday about 5 pm. 30 minute wait. Worth it! We started the meal with an IPA from Tamarack Brewing a local brewery in Lakeside, MT. Smooth, hoppy. Nice. Paired with their Parmesan fries. The fries are as thick as a log. Prepared perfectly. Not greasy at all. Plenty of taste. My wife ordered a special for the evening, Cutthroat Trout. Prepared with Asian spices on coconut rice. Delicious. I also had a special, the Duck burger served with lemongrass. Also delicious. Enjoyed the meal as much as anything in SoCal. The service was also superb, attentive, helpful but not overbearing.

Fantastic burgers with great seasoning. 'Jenga' fries are amazing. Crisp cole slaw. Casual, cozy atmosphere. Will definitely return & highly recommend.

Was excited to try Hops with all the fanfare surrounding their burgers and fries. We came for a late dinner Saturday night, and while it was still packed, managed to snag a table. Their rotating draft amber was good, though really mellow. The fries were flat. Chunks of potato wedges that were under seasoned, but cool Jenga-like presentation. We ordered three different burgers, with the Brie/beef and Yak being the favorites. The wild boar had a lot of favor, if you like spicy. While the burgers weren't the best I've ever had, they were pretty tasty for game meat.

Came here with my wife and another couple this past weekend. We are local and don't come here often because we usually have our young kids with us and this isn't really suited for young kids because of the size and generally you have to wait a while for a seat. That being said the food was amazing. I had a filet that was on special and it was cooked to perfection. They have a wide variety of local beer and wine. Absolutely loved our experience and food. We will certainly be back on date nights and will recommend to friends.

The burgers were amazing and the fries were fantastic. Make sure and split the fries with the table. One order of fries will feed 4 people. The service was fantastic as well.

Great local place, server recommended the Yakburger, the Yaks are raised just a couple miles away at a local ranch, and it was delicious. I had a local stout to go with it, also very good. Ambiance is fun, small town western feel to it. ( and you're in Kalispell Montana right?) service was excellent, menu was just big enough to have something for anyone, but make no mistake back home in California we would classify Hops as a Gourmet Burger place cause burgers are their specialty and take up most of the menu I will eat here again before I go home and anytime I return to this part of the country, which by the way has great friendly people, not just great scenery

Nice place for dinner. Had the rainbow trout and risotto. It was very good. Wild boar burger was good and tasty. The Caesar salad was big but not a fan of cold chicken. The brews were good from local Kalispell brewery. A little on the expensive side though. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Every time we come here you are fantastic. Your food is always delicious, and cooked perfectly. Your staff is always helpful, quick and courteous. Thanks for having an amazing beer selection.

Ordered the Pork Belly and Beef hamburger special. Added the pepper jack cheese. The sauce on the burger had a wonderful flavor. Our server was very friendly and energetic. Highly recommend stoping if in town.

I was visiting from Seattle and this was the first place we went for a meal. The menu all looked really good, but I figured I should ask the staff what's best. There was an option for "Hop's Extreme Burgers" that I had to try. One was a yak, one was buffalo and the other was wild boar. I asked the waiter what would be the best one and without hesitation he said wild boar. I was leaning yak, I even phoned a friend that said yak, but the waiter convinced me to go wild boar. I did not regret it one bit! It came with jalapeños, cheddar and bacon. The flavor was full and you could easily tell this wasn't your average hamburger (because it literally was not a beef hamburger). When I find myself in Kalispell again I'll have to go to this restaurant at least 2 times because one of those times I'll get the boar again. Maybe try the yak the other time. Go to Hops and get the wild boar burger, now.

Ah. Max. Ing. The wild boat burger was easily the best burger I've ever had. The service was superb. Our waiter had wonderful insight into the drink and food menu and the bartender even came over to talk to us. We will definitely be coming back. This place is really busy and a line quickly forms so if you don't want to wait get there at 5pm.

Love Hops!! And before Hops, the same folks ran Capers and Cafe Max. My wife, teen sons, and I have lived in the valley for 12 years, and we've enjoyed all three restaurants. The atmosphere at Hops is great: Cozy, romantic (even for a burger meal), and calming after a long day at work. Then there's a billion brews! I like the range of dishes, from burgers to duck (at times). Rebecca is our favorite server but unfortunately she's only dropped in part-time in the recent months. Good service, great cooks.

Like a full magazine of tightly grouped rounds clustered in the bulls-eye of a target, Hops hits the mark every time! We have been going to this establishment since it was Capers, in other words since it opened about 4 years ago. Well lets start with consistency... This place has consistently had some of the best service in the Flathead Valley. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, quick to address any wants, needs, or concerns. Never has there been an issue or problem of any magnitude. Now for the food... Consistent good food... Hops has done an excellent job maintaining the consistency across the board on their dishes. The quality is always as expected (excellent) and the portions are always adequate. The duck is wonderful, crispy nicely rendered breast, delicious sauce. The Salmon (wild Alaskan) is always wonderfully cooked. Excellent burgers with a semi exotic meat selection, yak, wild Boar, Buffalo, Etc. Beer... Here we go... A mind boggling amount of beers to choose from. Imports from all over, domestic micro brews, local favorites. You wont find a beer lover not smiling at the selection. The down side: No reservations available (Long wait in the summer) Limited food menu. I recommend you try this establishment if you have not already.

I love Hops! Just got done having a burger with a good friend... really a nice atmosphere, the service was good this time and I've always gotten really good service every time. I really love their Satay chicken. It is a bit more expensive but it is a nice dining experience and I think it is worth the extra $... the portions are very good so it is a really good value!

I am in town for work and needed a quick bite before going back to work. I was actually heading to another place, that turned out to be closed for dinner despite what it said on Yelp, when I passed by here on my way back to the hotel. It look good from the outside, so in the door I went. Glad I did. They have a very nice selection of burgers. Since I was in Montana, I choose the buffalo burger. It was a good choice. It was served with provolone cheese that was melted just right. It was cooked medium and was not runny, as some undercooked burgers can be. The bun was toasted and did not overwhelm the burger. I added some Dijon mustard and took a bite. It was just right, still warm. Lovely burger. I ordered cole slaw, which was as good as I have had in a long time. The slaw was crisp and not drowned in dressing. It was really good. Really. I did not have a reservation, so ate at the bar. That worked out just fine. I got waited upon very quickly and the food came out in a reasonable time. In short, the service was very good. If you are a beer lover, this is a very good place for you. The list is long. However, I am not and found what I hope would be good on the special list and guessed right. This place was very busy and full of people. It has a warm feeling. I lucked out tonight.

Excellent find in downtown Kalispel. We picked this place based on the YELP reviews, and on the advice of our server at the Kalispel Brewing Company. Warnings of large portions caused us to split an appetizer and main; calimari was good- large "sticks" of calimari were lightly breaded and crispy. Wild boar extreme burger - a patty of spicy wild board jalapeño sausage with cheddar - was EXCELLENT. We also had an order of fries - oh my! It's a "log cabin" of potato sticks, perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy potato inside. We couldn't finish it all. Recommended.

We had the Yak burger on a gluten free bun and a side of fries (thanks to those of you who recommended getting the slaw with the burger and fries on the side - good call!!). The service was fantastic. It was super loud in the restaurant, but so much fun. The food was amazing. Super moist burger, and phenomenal gluten free bun. Gold star! The fries were HUGE! We also tried a coffee Stout. I hate beer; ok, I usually hate beer, but the stout my husband ordered was delicious. What a fun night of great food and wonderful service!! Can't wait to go back!

Hops nice little restaurant with an extensive beer and inventory and wine list. We went early, around 5:30, and there were a lot of families there with kids. The staff was excellent. I had the Ahi tuna. It was a most wonderful dish. Another diner at the table had the crispy duck. It also was very nice dish. The waiter had excellent suggestions for the beer that I had that with the dinner and for the white wine that the other diner had with the crispy duck. A nice place to return to time after time.

had the yak burger because why not right, it was great... I did take the pile of ginger off because I am not a fan of it... I don't really get the pile of ginger honestly, talked with a couple other patrons and they also said it was overpowering. Notice to remove the ginger from the awesome yak burger :D Beer was great as well!@

I only had less than a day to see what Kalispell had to offer and this restaurant fit the bill. I mean come on, it has Hops in the name! Great service, great selection of beers (they have Racer 5, my fav! + so much more). Bartender was also really helpful in choosing a nice local beer I had the dungeness crab and shrimp cakes which was really good - must be the sauce they top it off with. I also had the buffalo burger which I inhaled if that tells you anything. My only negative was that it came with regular chips. I wish there was an option to add their sea salt & parmesan fries (everyone was ordering it but I was stuffed when I realized this)

Nice atmosphere. Good for family occasions. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was so-so. I had their famous Buffalo Burger. It was cooked perfect but had little taste. The pretzel roll was too much bread. The IPA beer they had on draft was just ok.

Amazing food. Great service. Clean restaurant, clean bathrooms. Has a bar. Prompt service. Large beer and wine selection. Ambiance is nice and relaxing. It is loud.. Great place for groups of adults. Not recommended for kids. Small place. Great to hang out at.

Kallai and I have been on a two week cleanse and we were in the need for meat. So we decided to go to Hops. The variety of burgers were wonderful, alot of choices and very Montana. When we walked in it was very busy but that did not seam to slow them down. The waitress placed us right by the bar. In a little single table away from everyone. We felt like we were royalty. Kallai and I were handed our menus very fast and the waitress told us everything we needed to know. If I could remember his name I would recommend him but I forget. We ordered our food Appetizer : Krab Cakes Main Dish:Blue Cheese Burger Brie Burger with Bacon Dessert; Orange Cream Cake The meal was amazing perfect flavor and presentation. Both burgers were cooked to perfection and the right amount of blue cheese and Brie. It did not overwhelm the burger it perfectly complemented the burger. The Orange Cream Cake was the size of Mexico and perfect to share. (If you want!!!) The entire restaurant was very warm and relaxed even during rush hour. After a huge dinner and being fully satisfied I have to mention the Bartender. We did not order any drinks but we over heard everything he said to customers. He was extremely educated and carried conversations with the crowd. Also his laugh will just make you smile. Everyone loved working there and we will be back to order drinks and eat great food. 100% satisfied.

Food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Our waiter sold us on the wild boar burger and it did not disappoint. A great selection of local beers on tap rounded out the feast.

Both my boyfriend and I had burgers which were amazing. The menu was not as exciting as I expected. The beer list had good options. The best part of eating here was our server who was so amazing. I wish I could remember her name. The wait seemed long but the seating is limited. Definitely not somewhere I would take children.

Absolutely awesome Resturant! It is our go-to once a week spot. The service is spectacular- not a bad server in the place. They all work together in very tight quarters and rarely miss a beat. Very pleasant people. We love sitting at the bar with Brian the Bartender who is a blast. Hops is famous for their upscale burgers which are out of this world (especially the wild boar burger) but their specials which are not burgers are also spectacular. They don't have a full liqueur license but their beer selection is fabulous (hence the name) and their wine selection by the bottle and the glass is first rate and very reasonable. It's an intimate atmosphere and not a ton of tables and they are always jumping but it's worth the wait!

Impressive, great food. Best burger I have ever had!!! Struck up conversation with a local resident who indicated this was her favorite. My husband had mahi mahi as a special - the taste I had was excellent. The sea salt and Parmesan fries were oh so good. This is a don't miss if you are in Kallispell.

This restaurant is an unassuming gem in downtown Kalispell. It is a must stop if you are visiting or new to the area. DO NOT pass up on the french fries appetizer! You will not be sorry. I would venture to say that this plate of french fries (large enough to share between 3 people) is the best potato I have ever put in my mouth. And really, when are potatoes ever the thing you remember about a meal?! I usually go with the special or a steak, as I am not a huge burger fan. I think it's worth mentioning that this place is more than a classy burger stop. Enjoy!

I don't write a lot of reviews unless a place is either really good or really bad. This place is most definitely the former and not the latter. Believe the other reviews, this really is a gem of a place, most likely one of the best in the region! We stopped in for dinner on our way to Whitefish for a marriage retreat on a Friday night. We checked out yelp looking for somewhere good. We thought, what the heck, it's a burger bar with decent reviews... oh how wrong we were. This place far transcends a burger\beer bar. We ordered everything to share (my wife and I), starting with: crab cakes - pretty darn good, I'd say these were a little overrated, but still really good Grilled Mahi Mahi over Mexican rice. This was a gem of an item. I wasn't too keen on the rice, but it had nice flavor and the wife loved it. The fish however was stellar! The Munich burger (also on special) This had (I think it was Cambozola\blue brie) cheese on it, onion rings and some sauce. This burger (borrowing from Guy Fieri was OUT OF SIGHT! We topped if off with some white cake with an orange filling... which was also very AMAZING. And the service...PERFECT! He was nice, HONEST (actually told us a few items he was not fond of) attentive, but still have us our space. I travel a little and frequent LA, so my tastes aren't completely won over that easily, but I gotta tell ya folks this place IS IT. My only sorrow is that it is a 5 hour drive and they're only open for dinner (I guess if you're going to do it right you have to do it when you want).. We stopped for lunch only to find them closed :( This was easily one of the best meals I've had in a WHILE and when I return to the area... I'll be back, I just hope it is not too long.

This place is off the hook. I got lucky to stumble on the gem while traveling trough Northern Montana. They have an epic rotating tap list and over 100 bottles of great beer. The menu is also over the top, from a Yak burger to seared ahi. I had the ahi and it was melt in your mouth good. If you find yourself in Kalispell Montana, don't leave town without stopping by Hop's.

Excellent Burgers! Amazing fries. Cole Slaw with a yummy spicy kick! Delicious beer & wine selection. No liquor ~ Beer & Wine only. Buffalo & Kobe beef both delicious... I think the Buffalo is the better choice...they are much thicker burgers than then Kobe Beef burgers. Cooked medium rare for perfection.

We felt our experience here at Hops was not worth the money. My Brie burger was good but my husband ordered the ultimate cheese burger and he felt it was dry and bland. At first our waiter seemed attentive but service waned throughout our meal.

  • Marisa S.

I had the expectation that this would be a really nice restaurant, and it was good, but not fantastic. The appetizer ( blue cheese & figs etc ) was tasty; I would have liked a little more toast. I had the yak burger because it seemed to get the best reviews. It was good - I liked the ginger on it - but I've certainly had better gourmet burgers. And the homemade chips... Really not my thing. I'd get the coleslaw instead. I would try some other entree altogether next time. No mixed drinks are available ... Just beer and wine. Our server was great. The pace of the meal was very good. It was quite busy, and there is no waiting room... You're basically on top of the dining room and bar guests while you wait. That's a bummer. It's a very small place. I'd go back, but I'd have tempered expectations for next time.

This is probably the best meal I had During my stay in Kalispell, While visiting Glacier National Park. It is an upscaleish burger joint, a very surprise find it this little town. The food was excellent. My wife and I sated with the trout pate which was quite yummy with grilled peppers. for the entree's I got the yak burger, they do a wide assortment of burgers along with a few specialty ones like yak Buffalo and the like, and mine was excellent! My wife had the Mediterranean chicken, since she can not eat dairy the waiter was helpful in adjusting a few things on here meal. overall great place in a little Montana town, nice waitstaff, if you go I would call ahead for a reservation they fill up fast and the wait can take a while.

Finally, we found a place in Kalispell that actually has not only decent food, but absolutely phenomenal food coupled with great service. I had the Chicken Cesar salad made with homemade Cesar dressing my husband had the Mahi-Mahi dinner, fantastic.

Ordered the tomato and garlic soup with blue cheese salad and Parmesan potato fries. Soup was excellent, think and creamy. Salad was fine. The potatoes were very thickly cut (3/4" cross section) so the seasoning was overpowered by the amount of potato. Good beer selection and fairly priced. Service was about average. Although it says they close at ten, that is when they stop seating. They are actually open until 11.

Me and my parents came here for dinner on our last night in town. It looks kind of like a bar from the outside, but it's actually a really nice small sit-down dinner place. The service was completely impeccable and the food was just as good. I had the rainbow trout salad, which had four fairly large pieces of fish on top as well as pickled green beans, some kind of spice soaked apple slices, and a raspberry vinaigrette, and I want to have about five more, it was so good. My parents had the hamburger special and the buffalo burger, both of which they raved about. I wish I lived around here because I want to eat here again and again.

Food was just okay here, nothing really to write home about. The fries were terrible, which isn't good when your menu is mostly burgers. Website makes it sound like they have a great beer selection, but only about 6 of those on tap...who goes out to a meal and orders a 12 oz bottle? Not this guy...

Wow, I am so impressed with this place. Our party of 6 came for dinner on a Monday night. The place is a LOT smaller than I thought it would be. We put our names down for a 30 minute wait, which was ok, since we just walked around downtown. Appetizer was fried calamari. It was different from what I'd expected (rings and tentacles), so it was calamari steaks trimmed into strips, and breaded/fried. But boy, it was good - very crunchy, not really oily and good tomato and basil dipping sauce too. Our side salads were great too. Our party had the yak, bison and boar burgers. We also had the Munich burger, made with Kobe beef, the flatiron steak and grilled chicken. We all had a taste of the exotic burgers, and everyone seemed to really like the boar burger. It tasted somewhat like a sausage, with an unexpected and nice fennel taste. Bison was also popular. The yak was ok, but not people's favorite. (Just know that the meat is cooked more rare, and it also by nature retains a redder color.) My flatiron steak was pretty good, but seemed a little less tasty except for the sauce. The grilled asparagus in the dish was very very good though! For dessert, we split some chocolate mousses and an orange/white cake. Boy, both were a hit with everyone! This was a very pleasant dining experience, and we would return if we were ever in the area!

Overall, I like Hops. I'd give it between 2.5 and 3 stars. But there are a few things I do not like about them. Here's my honest Pro vs. Con take on them: Cons: - I found the restaurant incredibly small and I was pretty uncomfortable being in such close proximity to the other tables. Privacy is pretty much a non-entity here. Generally I am not a claustrophobic individual, but I almost felt that way here. - Menu selection in terms of food is quite minimal. They have burgers and 2-3 other items and that's about it. - So yes, my date and I had a couple of burgers. Now, these burgers are often touted as the "Best in the Flathead Valley" so we largely came because of that. Ultimately, I thought the burgers were decent (although a tad small), but decent in my mind doesn't warrant incredibly high prices. $12-14 for a burger? I don't think so. I was disappointed as I am a big burger buff. Frankly, Sykes has better burgers and they taste fresher, as well (not to mention a tad cheaper). Pros: - The service. One can tell they pride themselves in friendliness and making sure the patrons are well taken care of. I could tell not only my server was excellent but the others were, as well. Nice job! To summarize, I think you'd like Hops if your coming just to get adult beverages or have a quick burger in a pub-style atmosphere, but if you're wanting anything else I'd suggest to look elsewhere.

I ordered the Kalispell Burger and an IPA beer. The food was delicious and the beer was as well. Nice ambience and the service was excellent! I'm looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu when I return.

Brenda was wonderful tonight. A superb way to spend my birthday at Hop,s. Great food, excellent location and top of the line beer and wine. This truly started our Montana trip out with a celebration. My thanks to the owner and a salute to the cook for a magnificent dinner. Job well done. Larry M.

Hops is not what I expected. Based on their website, I anticipated a bar rather than an actual restaurant. But the food is undoubtedly incredible. As a pescetarian (someone who only eats veggies and fish), I was unsure I'd be able to find anything I really liked on the menu. I was wrong. The vegetarian lasagna was excellent. It had colour, texture, and flavour that put it over the top. My SO had the wild boar burger and he swears by it. Even on the car ride home from Montana he remarked on how good his burgers were. Our friends also seemed to enjoy their meals. The service also impressed me greatly. I was thrilled that we had such an attentive server. I definitely recommend Hops Downtown Grill!

Since we got into town I have wanted to try this place. Where else are you going to try the Yak burgers with Tibetan BBQ sauce? We walked over tonight and found they had two tables open at 7:30. The bar was full, as well. Very good sign. The place it not that big though and really the only complaint I can throw out there is, it was hot as hell in there. We sat in the back, which gave us a great view of the place. We started off with Duck wings, not your classic chicken wing in this place, oh no no no. You get four meaty portions of fried wings with a huckleberry BBQ dipping sauce, on a bed of a really good slaw, enough to split with somebody. That was $8.50. I couldn't decide between the Yak burger or the Buffalo burger with mozzarella cheese with fried sage, so my husband said we'd each order one and then split them. Yippee problem solving husband. I didn't want potato chips, no matter how great their claim to fame is, but they put them on the plate anyway and still brought my side of fries, which were like jojo potatoes. That was okay, we just kind of picked at them because the show stopper was the burgers. The yak burger was good but I really liked the buffalo burger better, just because I am not a big bbq sauce fan and I could really taste it on the yak burger. I think I could have split a burger with my husband and still been full, they were really decent sized. We did end up getting a dessert to split, the orange citrus white cake. They don't have ice cream, so don't try going all summer on it. That cake was so good, I could really have done a piece all my own and been very happy. It was light and moist. I did see steak and lasagna on the menu and that may be something we'd go back and try before we leave.

The yak burger is off the chain and the service is excellent. It does get a bit crowded and you can feel rushed to pay and get out. It makes it hard to enjoy the delicious beers they have on tap. It's not quite the tap house I expected. Its more of a semi upscale sit down place and doesn't have a bar feeling at all. One does not come here to tie one on though. That is completely ok however. The food is excellent and the incredible selections of local beers are the stars of the show. Do not sleep on the yak!

Do you ever wonder, "Aren't there any good places to eat in Kalispell?" Well, there aren't many, but Hops is one of them. The unique thing about Hops, that isn't so unique in other cities, is its high-class service. You just can't find that anywhere here. It's like Montanans have never been taught how to serve (and I'm Montanan). Yeah, we're friendly and waive at you, but we don't know (in general) great customer service. Now, Hops is another story. It's fine dining in an intimate setting with superb service and elevated comfort food: Burgers. Tonite I had the Bison Burger. Very lean, as it should be, with a well-paired BBQ sauce, fried sage and mozerralla. I couldn't really taste the sage (would have preferred basil) but the idea of it is smart, as buffalo needs a little fat. Cooked rare, to perfection. My hubby had a special, Jamaican Jerk, with Kobe beef. We ordered the crab cakes for the second time as an appetizer, fries on the side, and the tiramisu for dessert. They have an extensive menu of beer and wine. It's a great time to try a new drink. I'm looking forward to trying the Yak Burger next time. I hear the lasagna and fish tacos are excellent, but the burgers are so good, I can't seem to try anything else. If you want this level of dining in the Flathead Valley you'll have to go to Tupelo's or Latitude 48 in Whitefish or Showthyme in Bigfork. But if you're in Kali and you don't want to drive, I think Hops will satisfy your city-hospitality craving.

Nice beer selection and our burgers and chips were good (not outstanding). Service was pleasant but slooooow. It is very dark and cramped inside and VERY noisy. We were lucky to be seated shortly after arriving around 6pm on a Tuesday, but those after us had to wait awhile. I like the small town vibe...

Was staying nearby (Kalispell Grand Hotel) and of course the first thing I did was hop on yelp to check out great places to eat. Fortunately for my partner and I we found this place. We were also both in the mood for burgers -- score there. I ordered the brie smokehouse bacon burger. I mean come on all of those words put together hell yes. It was outstanding and I recommend it. The service was good. They have a great selection of beer and wine. Our entire meal set us back about 30 bucks, so you do get some bang for your buck. The only small dig I can say is that the atmosphere was dark and maybe a tad bit formal for Montana but it works for this place I am certain. I would eat there again and recommend it to others. Yum.

Sat at the bar again as the seating is kinda tight throughout the place. You get to know your neighbors here for sure which is nice. This place is gcozy with classic70s playing. I've had burgers, fish tacos, beer/wine. They have an extensive 100+ beer selections and great wine offerings as well. Fish tacos are out of this world and have been taken to another level. I was little concerned about the use of Tilapia though. .

I'm only giving this 2 stars because they only have one vegetarian option. 2 stars for that one option being good though.

Just finished a meal at Hops Restaurant with my family and am happier than a cheshire cat. The food and drinks there were absolutely spectacular. Add on some of the friendlies, happiest and most helpful staff I've come across and you get a solid 5 stars. Thank you guys for a wanderful evening with my family, really appreciate it!

Loved the atmosphere and the service. Great selection on the beer. I had the chicken risotto with asparagus which was average. The chicken seemed precooked and the risotto seemed like something prepared out of a bag. I'm not sure about the asparagus. The flat bread was good.

HUGE selection of beer to choose from all over the world. Not all of them are on tap, in fact a lot are in bottles, but that still makes it a huge selection nonetheless. They rotate their taps pretty often, but they always have a nice selection of quality Montana craft beer on tap. Hop's is a touch on the small side, but don't let that deter you, because like TNT, big things come in small packages. You will be pleasantly surprised that a little place like Hop's can put out such great food. Feel comfortable ordering ANYTHING off the menu, because whatever it is you order will be fantastic. The staff...can't say enough good things about them. The bartender, Erin, is superb at being helpful, knowledgeable, sweet and engaging. Can't decide what kind of beer to get, she will steer you in the right direction.

Stopped here for dinner after leaving Glacier National Park. Coming from working in the food/beverage industry in Chicago, my friend and I weren't sure what we were getting ourselves into but figured we'd give a few of Becky's recommendations a shot. She couldn't have been more spot-on in recommending the fish tacos, the trout patê, and yak and wild boar burgers. They were amazing! Definitely try the yak burger and the trout patê for sure and ask for recommendations on pairing with their selections of locally-brewed beers. Should I ever find myself back in the area again I'll definitely stop back.

This place is fantastic. Over 100 beers available, great local choices on tap. The service was excellent and so was the food. The Yak Burger and the Wild Boar Burger are both excellent choices and you will enjoy the for sure. Our server, Sandra was fantastic as well.

Casual food with a just-right hint of upscale. Great burger and steak. Motz fritter was very good also. Steak seemed a little pricey, but was great quality. Great beer and wine selection.

We are sit at the bar eaters and really enjoyed the great service... Burgers are big and could be shared with an appetizer. Couples next to us ordered two different burgers and the kitchen put one half of each kind on each plate... Brilliant idea and great way to share!

This was the BEST Buffalo burger I have ever had! The beer selection is great, loved the Wild Huckleberry Beer. Atmosphere is fantastic. Came over from Seattle to visit parents. Honestly was surprised how great the food and menu selection was being that it is Montana.

We're from out of state and used Yelp to help us find a good place to eat. We were not disappointed...yum! Nice waitstaff, great food, nice atmosphere. Wish we could move it to Oregon!

Yelp led us to this unique little restaurant. We were surprised by it's small size. We waltzed in without a reservation and got the very last table. I ordered the Buffalo Burger, but I didn't want chips with it. The waitress said she couldn't substitute fries, but could get me an order of them at an extra cost, which I reluctantly did. I also got a side salad with wasabi cucumber dressing, which was delicioius. The Buffalo Burger was surprisingly VERY greasy, which kind of put me off-- Aren't buffalo burgers supposed to be HEALTHIER than the normal burgers? The fries were huge, long slices of potato (like 4-5 inches and thicker than a steak fry). Some were undercooked. My husband had the Yak Burger and said it was good. The chips you get are like kettle chips. The thing that really excited my husband was the beer selection (see menu, it speaks for itself). I would say the service was a bit on the slow side. I did notice the waitress was schmoozing with some tables quite a bit while practically ignoring others. Overall, it was just okay for me.

Hops is a newer addition to the town of Kalispell. Previously, it was Capers -- a Mediterranean -style restaurant that was, apparently, also rather popular. I asked the bartender why it changed, and he said that the location has been owned by the same people for around 16 years and, every once in a while, they decide to "change things up". New concepts. New ideas. Hops not only has an amazing selection of beers (up to eight on tap and over 80 different bottles from all over the world) and wines (I had no idea they actually made 1/2-sized bottles until I had one with my mean), but rather good food. So good, in fact, that I ate dinner there two nights in a row. Night one? The Yak burger. My first run-in with the beast, and tasty it was. According to the bartender (I didn't get his name, but he knows the food, beer, and wine inside and out), the Yak comes from a ranch about three miles down the road. You can't get much more local than that... Night two? The Creole burger (made with Kobe beef). They do offer non-burger entrees for those not wanting the "burger and fries" type meal, but trust me... Their burgers are classy. Their fries/chips homemade. And while you'll be offered the usual condiments of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise, you won't need any of them, as the food stands rather well on its own.

We had dinner here after our Glacier Park trip Saturday night and the food was excellent. We had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated (only 49 seats) but it was well worth the wait. The menu is not expansive, but they have an amazing assortment of burgers. My daughter had the creole burger while my wife and both had Kobe beef burgers. I had the pub burger and it was very flavorful. We both had a draft beer (local scotch ale and IPA)

My husband and I came here for lunch on the weekday afternoon. Lunch is served from 11 to 2 p.m. Since I wasn't very hungry I only ordered a bowl of soup for lunch. The super the day was a red lentil curry soup with ginger. This soup was AMAZING. Imagine eating a liquidy Thai hummus. I ate the whole bowl and would have had another if I wasn't so full. My husband ordered the yak burger. Although it was expensive ($16) it was well worth the price it's not everyday you get to eat a yak burger. The inside decor is more of a dark steakhouse and less brewpub. Not what I was expecting but not at all disappointing, Service was great considering there were a handful of customers in the shop. Delicious and not disappointing.

I should know better, do not order the special of the nite bison/boar meatloaf wrapped in bacon. Bacon burnt and hard crust on outside of meatloaf from being grilled mashed potatoes from combo of fresh and dried, nice fresh veggies from Costco. Beer best choise on menu and service is outstanding. Appetizers crab/shrimp cakes and blue chesse with dried figs also good.

This was walking distance from the hotel and we were wanting to have a couple of drinks with dinner. Unfortunately they only have beer and wine. I have a food allergy so have to ask a few extra questions while ordering. The waitress was not educated on which ingredients were in which dishes, what types of beverages they have or really any question we had. The wait time was long, we saw one table get up and leave. I would have added pics of the dishes but it is so dark in the restaurant that you couldn't see the food without flash! The food was overall good, The yak meat was very dry though. The soup well flavored. The best thing about this restaurant is the cucumber wasabi dressing. This place would be much better if they would turn up the lights, educate the staff and manage tables a little quicker.

Quite nice, and quite foody. Great presentation, good taste, reasonable prices. Our best meal in Kalispell. Also, they make an excellent in-house black bean burger, which is really rare, generally do-it-yourself attempts at veggie burgers are horrible. Try the fries, for sure.

Delicious! I had their special "Cheeseburger in Paradise", hubby had the Lasagna. Both meals were presented well and very tasty. Good selection of beer and wine for us, too . Not quite 5 stars... Our server started out very helpful and attentive, then pretty much left us on our own once we had food. More wine? More water? Guess not... I'd go back-many more interestingly delicious sounding entrees to try

Brilliant bistro food, great beer menu. Hurray all around. The menu is designed like a bistro--a mix of local foods (fish, bison) and classic American dishes. I ordered a bison burger, which was delicious. It came excellently prepared (medium rare) and topped with a with sharp Tillamook cheddar on a tasty bun (topped with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, salt like an everything bagel). A side of potato chips were homemade from Idaho potatoes and delicious. Hands down, it was the best burger I had during a trip through Montana. We also had the smoked fish (sturgeon that night)--locally smoked. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked. The fish came with a side of cherry chutney and pita. Loved it. The beer selection is amazing. A collection of local beers on tap and excellent collection of bottled beers from around the world. I love the bar menu and wanted to stay to sample one of everything. Add in that Hops Downtown Grill has a great atmosphere and this place is an all around winner. Finally, the price is right for a night out ($3 for a craft brew) -- insanely cheap if you're coming from a larger town.

Wow. This far exceeded my expectations for bar food. Of course, it's not "bar food", but food served at a bar. We got that idea when looking at the menu before wandering in, but my expectations were still for mediocrity (derived from most of my experiences iwth bars that serve food), so I was blown away with the food we got. First, it's a bar, so let's talk about the beer. The selection is huge, at least if not dern near 100 options for brews, and prices were absolutely reasonable (especially compared to what we're subject to in Las Vegas). If only I had more time in Kalispell I'd love to work my way through the list! They feature many local breweries, so I stuck local since I had the option. We all know beer is good, but for the food, oh-my. We had the daily special of the Smoked sturgeon (local) with cherry chutney, pita, mandarin orange, and coleslaw. The in-house smoked the fish was fantastic on it's own, but paired with the chutney, it was Ah-mazing... I still dream about this and haven't had anything like it before or since (even out of ridiculously expensive meals on the Las Vegas strip). We also split the Tilamook cheeseburger which was, as my husband said, "solid" - cooked perfectly medium rare as requested and served with homemade idaho russet chips. I'm tempted to hop a cheap flight back out there just for the excuse to hang out here after hiking Glacier...

My favorite local place for dinner! Excellent selection of beers and wines, but the menu selections are my favorite-- try anything from the wild game and locally grown options. The food is hearty but not overdone, the service is exceptional and the space is cozy but elegant. It is our family's favorite!

Everything about this place is good and the food is ALWAYS consistent! That helps when the husband and wife have run this place from the very start and he is pretty much always in the kitchen or dining area. Really great atmosphere and brings life to Kalispell's sometime dry and dull Main St. This place will live on forever!

As an admitted food snob, I find myself drawn back to Hops whenever I'm in town for business. The menu is straightforward and not overwhelming. I am always pleased with the food, and the service is attentive and rock solid. The menu is generally reasonable in price - burgers are generally just under $10 and served with home made potato chips. (choose bison, beef, black bean, or Yak). Yes, you read right. Yak. As in: Himalayas. Apparently there's a ranch a couple of miles down the road that raises yaks. Go figure. They offer a long list of appetizers that I once combined into a tapas-like meal. Calamari, crab cakes, etc. Their salad was fresh and tasty and most of the dressings are home-made. Today I had the soup: Creamy tomato with garlic and fennel. It wound have already been great as just the creamy tomato with garlic. But then they add in the fennel and it adds this walnut like crunch that adds so much flavor and texture to the soup. It was wonderful. I also had the Alaskan sockeye salmon entrée. The salmon was served in a creamy sauce which was very tasty although the fish was ever-so-slightly dry. I hope I don't offend my friends in Kalispell when I say that if this were in a large metropolitan area it would probably earn more like three stars. But considering we are in Kalispell Montana I really think it deserves four (on the local relative scale). It is one of two restaurants that I enjoy here on a regular basis.

I've been here twice now, and both times the food and service was great! First time we sat at the bar; I ordered the bison burger with mozzarella and sage and had one of the triples they had in a bottle, boyfriend got the pub burger. Both were amazing. Last night he ordered the pub burger again (creature of habit) and I got the yak burger. OMG. Let them cook it medium to med rare like they recommend... Usually I get my burgers MW but I'm glad I went lower on this. It was juicy and lean and perfect. Just go to Hops.

If you come to Hops you would be a fool to not get the lasagna. It was the most amazing lasagna I've ever had. I love the burgers here but the lasagna just surpassed that. Oh the flatbread/olive tapenade and mozzarella fritters with house marina sauce was to die for.

A simple concept: burgers & beer. The small upscale restaurant located in Kalispell's downtown town is worth the 20 minute wait since seating is limited. Hand crafted beers from all over the world with yummy burgers to boot. I found the price is reasonable.

I have eaten at Hops 3 times now. I haven't been disappointed yet. The crab cakes are a great appetizer, and their burgers are always great. My wife loves their Chicken Caesar salad ( I like it also). The price isn't out of line, for the quality of food, which is great, in my opinion.

I was very impressed by its ambiance, cleanliness of restroom, knowledge of the waiting staff, and selection of local beers. A must have is their Yak burger. It was my birthday when I went in, the staff were very nice, no happy birthday singing or free glass of champagne though!!

This is a very small, cozy place that's intimate and yet has a great neighborhood feel to it. I really enjoy the enormous selection of beer and the bartender is absolutely top notch when it comes to his knowledge and expertise in paring food with drinks. The bison burger is absolutely delicious. The homemade fries are the perfect touch to this bistro style dining experience and the duck wings are a must for anyone who enjoys trying new styles of wings. I highly recommend this restaurant for a first date, girls night out, or a place to enjoy a great meal with someone special.

This place is amazing! I heard that it was excellent yet it still was far better than I hoped. The burgers are possibly the best I have ever had. Not a huge fan of the chips, however I don't like any kettle chips. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Went here after a five day hike in Glacier and got the duck wings, flatbread, Boar burger and some cold brewskis. All was delicious and service was great! Definitely going to go again while in town. Also the wife had a crush on our Ryan Gosling look a like waiter.

Had the special last night, Red Snapper. It was amazing. A very large serving, so make sure your hungry. This is the second time I have eaten at Hops and both times I totally enjoyed my meal. They have a huge selection of beer, many are local Montana brewed. If you find yourself in beautiful Kalispell, MT I absolutely recommend this place.

Pretty good tap list, but the food is outstanding. We had a tomato-garlic soup that was amazing, and the burgers are terrific. Sometimes restaurants will focus on piling on toppings, which distracts from the mediocre quality of the hamburger. This one though was light on the toppings, but enough to compliment a patty of high-quality beef, so the whole sandwich was really very tasty.

Quite honestly one of the very few decent dinner spots in the Flathead, where the cost of your meal is commensurate with the quality of your meal. Recent case in point: tortilla and lime encrusted tilapia with beans and rice. And not your run of the mill beans and rice - perfectly seasoned black beans with saffron rice, hand made tortillas on the side and the most amazing tilapia I've had outside of Mexico. For $10.95! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. There are very few choices for really good food in Kalispell, and this is one. Great selection of beers on tap, nice wine list, very friendly wait staff. The burgers are a sure thing, and fries are outstanding. Very nice mix of housemade ingredients that lend that extra kick to upscale pub food. Comfortable (although smallish) dining room that you can dress up or down for. A solid five stars.

Chris took wonderful care of us.. If you want a great server, look no further..The soups here are always fantastic. This is a fun place to come for a great beer selection. We just shared an appetizer, but the burgers looked great, and we plan to come back and give them a try.

Before Hops, it was Capers Restaurant and it was darn good. The food was not standard fare, with good portions and okay prices. A darkish pleasant atmosphere. Well, the owners felt they needed a more universal menu I guess, and though I miss the Caper's food, all the other attributes are still there. Hops Downtown Grill has very tasty burgers --my favorites are the Yak burger (yes, yak) and buffalo burgers, but they have a good choice of what I would call accelerate pub food, but with diverse choices and nuanced ingredients. Home made potato chips. They have many different beers to chose from and a full bar. I have found the service to be good and very friendly, and when my wife and I went in recently, we were trying a new regimen and the waitress was extremely helpful in meeting our dietary needs. Check their hours -- they are not open all day, but when they are, the food is good and the atmosphere pleasant.

I can see why this place gets 5 stars from many patrons. The burgers were delicious and the home made kettle fries to die for! A great ambience and fast, efficient friendly service. The portions are huge, my husband and I could have easily split a dish. A must try in Kalispell.

I was expecting more local beers and a bistro atmosphere. It was not that being more upscale like a wine bar, but I was pleasantly surprised. It had over a hundred beers in bottle and a few local ones on tap and the red I was recommended was very good. There was also an extensive wine menu. The food consisted of mostly appetizers and burgers. The burger I had was not as spicy as expected in a Cajun spiced one, however the Montana beef was excellent. My companion had the Steak and potatoes and said the steak was great. The wait staff did a wonderful job. It was a few more dollars than pub grub. The average meal with a drink will run you over $20 per person. Overall unexpected but good

Loved Hops! Filled with locals, so you know it is good. My husband had the Yak burger, which was delicious, and I had the black bean burger which was homemade and huge. They have only beer and wine, but they feature about 20 microbrews. You should definitely stop here if you are in Kalispell.

Very good, high quality, original food. We were looking for something a little less expensive, but did not regret spending $30 per person (with drinks). Fish entries that were on special were amazing. The steak from the regular menu was very good as well.
