Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Being a chef myself I expected better from the looks of their menu. Everything was under spiced. The only good part was the salad. I had the Chicken Alfredo, it was very watery as if they were trying to cut corners and used water instead of cream and definitely barely any parmesan in it. A friend got the potatoe soup and it was had very little flavor. All in all nice looking place, but for the price and the service I got was I would suggest tread lightly.

In a town such as Helena you have to really be on top of your game when it comes to local business. I've given the Mediterranean Grill a few tries. Always the same experience. Is the food ok? Sure. Is the service ok? Sure. Today for lunch three of us ordered the spinach salad, only to be told they were out of prosciutto. The grocery store is a few blocks down the road. Also, out of about ten other key ingredients. Any chance of substitutions? Nope. Service times were over 30 minutes after ordering. I think I've illustrated the point. I will not be returning. Back to the staples. The ones that always perform in Helena. Probably why they are always busy, always consistent, and why they have been around forever.

Great quality food, good serving sizes and an awesome atmosphere. Went for lunch today maybe back for dinner...

I've been here twice. The specials are so enticing I can't get to the rest of the menu!

Traveling to and through Helena for work while at the same time taking as man of the sites and cuisine via Yelp as much as possible. Seeing that the Med Grill currently only had 3 1/2 stars and also that they had a fairly large menu I was slightly skeptical. We went there any way. Our main server, , was perfect. tentative and courteous. We started with the muhamarra appetizer. If you are a fan of hummus this is similar but much more flavorful. We reside on the California coast and for some reason each ordered a fish or sea food dish. Two Seafood Fettuccinis and a Tuna with Romesco Sauce. Personally, one of the best or better Seafood Fettuccini I've had. Clean, fresh and flavorful. House salad was also simple and fresh. Had a taste of the tuna with romesco. Yeah, excellent as well. Go here. My guess is that you will be pleased. I certainly was.

We ate there 6/15/2015. The appetizers arrived quickly - the dinner took hours to get to the table. When it did - salads were blah, seafood fettucine more fettucine than seafood with a far too heavy cheese sauce. Another member of the party ordered some kebabs - said they were dry and greasy all at the same time. One of the other diners, from Seattle, ordered paella and said the seafood was tough and stale. Being from Seattle, he probably shouldn't have ordered anything with seafood. In any event, I think the food at the MG is over-priced and not very good - not to mention the delayed service.

I thought this a fairly sweet restaurant. Unfortunately, I felt very uncomfortable. I didn't get a warm feeling and they don't have booths. Everyone is sitting at tables like a cafeteria. The water was nasty; obviously tab water. I got an iced tea, which tasted as bad as the water. A local told me, "They must let the water sit. The longer our tap water sits, the more it has that yucky taste." She was probably right. I ordered the chicken cacciatore with rice pilaf and a cup of some mystery soup. That tasted great, it just looked regurgitated. My entree was very good. So much food, even this big girl couldn't finish. The staff seemed pretty nice, even though the guys looked liked men from the movie "Fight Club". I was amused.

Good restaurant. Good patio area for this nice warm weather. Order the Lahmacun as an appetizer, was great and the portion was also big. Ordered the Mako Shark with Curry seasoning and that was good as well. Decent prices, good portions, good food, ok service. Enjoy!

It's in the heart of Helena. Amazing restaurant with authentic delicious food. I had the baked rigatoni and if you're a cheese lover like myself you'll def enjoy it. Order the baklava for dessert and prepare your taste buds for a foodgasm Must try !

Great little place, minus a star because the food came out very slow. My boyfriend and I met for lunch, and he was pressed for time. He only had about an 1hr & 10 min, so make sure you have time! The chef did come over and apologize for it taking so long, that was nice! We shared an appetizer called "Spinakopita" which was very tasty. He ordered a Gyro, & I had the "Egyptian chicken Sandwich" I never got to taste his gyro because he had it boxed and had to leave, but the Egyptian chicken was very good, but nothing to write home about. Our waitress seemed a little frazzled though.. Nice girl. Pretty good food, okay service- just the wait time is a little off-putting. But hey- at least it's fresh!

Stop in for a Greek Salad with Chicken for dinner while in Helena for business. The Sous Chef comes over to help me (I guess the hostess was busy). I tell her what I want, and she gives me the detail of how she makes it... I'm in! I have a seat at their "kitchen bar" and have a drink and talk with her... If the food is half as good as the conversation it's going to be great! Sous Chef's from Rochester, NY, and gives me insight on what it's like to live there. She never breaks stride while assembling my to go order. I drink/pay and go when it's ready. Back to the hotel and chow down... It's fantastic! Along with the fresh bread, my evening is made (now another hour or so of admin!)
(5)MoRaya M.
Yum. That's all that needs to be said, however Yelp says my review is too short. So...eat here great steaks!
(5)Geoff B.
Excellent restaurant offering fresh food and great value. Ordered the special, which included a tasty full-size gyro sandwich, creamy bowl of fresh seafood chowder, and side salad, all for $11.95. We also tried the tapenade plate, which was a hit at the table as well. This restaurant is also very family-friendly. Our friendly server saw that we had a wiggly toddler to contend with, so she offered to bring the soup out with the appetizer and then gave us the check almost immediately after we had eaten so we could be on our way. Highly recommended and would definitely come again.

Cute little spot in Helena, Montana, which is a town you should try to visit. We were on a quick drive through to Yellowstone from Seattle, and only had time for a leisurely lunch, but we loved this gold rush town with its domed state capital and its brownstone downtown, complete with a mix of Victorian and Edwardian wooden homes and mansions stretching out around the downtown. We were seated outside on a sunny summer afternoon, and although service was on the leisurely side considering this was a quick detour from our roadtrip, we were greeted by friendly staff and waited on by the owner, who worked hard to accommodate our requests and make the experience a nice one for our small family. We ordered lamb kabobs (small sizing on this item), a salmon salad, a kids plate and some great summer Kolsch on tap. The salmon on our salad was perfectly done --a nice piece of fish, not overcooked, very moist. We enjoyed a nice, slow meal outside on the patio at Mediterranean Grill, along with a busy group of Helena locals, and appreciated the hospitable host who told us he found a home here, becoming a Helena resident twenty years ago. I can see the appeal of this quaint state capital, which reminded me of my native San Francisco and its wood Victorians alongside adopted Seattle, with its Ballard brown brick business district.

If there is one thing I've learned from Helena MT, food portions are often pretty large. This place was no exception. The Caprese could have served 6-8 people. I would say that 2 entire balls were cut and put on the plate along with generous amounts of basil and tomatoes. They really could charge the same amount, provide half as much and make more money! The veal saltimbocco also was very large. Though what was lacking was the prosciutto, it could have been a more salty variety. And the veggies were a bit lack luster. Service was very friendly.
(3)Sue G.
There is inside and outside dining. We chose outside dining and loved it - UNTIL a huge summer thunder and lightning storm descended upon us!!! As the wind whipped up and it started to rain, all of us eating outside were quickly brought inside. We were treated very politely by all staff. I am a water drinker and my glass was never less than 1/2 full; I was thrilled with that! My husband ordered a salmon salad, and expected salmon pieces on the bed of greens. He had an entire salmon filet!!! It was delicious and huge. I had the veggie lasagna and it was incredible. We both had leftovers to take back to our room. Our dessert - Chocolate Pudding Cake. Now I've had that before and also have made it a number of times. This was the best ever; the pudding part was like ganache! Ohhhh so good. We thoroughly enjoyed dining outside - the street is a fun street in Helena with other eating places and places to visit. They have a large eating area inside.
(5)Rick R.
We stopped here on advice from and friend and were happily surprised. We split a Turkish stew called Izmir? and a spinach salad. But almost everything looked good on a very diverse menu. Will be back.
(4)Richard C.
Well done!!!! This is a treat. Great prices, great wine list and excellent food . You won't go wrong here.
(5)Corey R.
Reservation scheduled and seated within minutes of it. Salad was good. Nice seating on patio. Service was good. Coffee was the best choice for us!

My wife loves the Med Grill...me, not so much. On our last visit yesterday, she had a sandwich she said was delicious; but it took over 30 minutes to get a sandwich; and the place was mostly empty. I ordered a bowl of the soup of the day, Seafood chowder, and got a bowl of seafood broth. The 'broth' was nicely flavored and even had a few potatoes in it; but no seafood. It seems that the chowder was a popular item and they served me the bottom of the pot. It should not have even been served. My meal was "comped" after I complained; but had I not known better and complained I would have been paid for a broth. Indeed the chef (who was literally 5 feet from the soup pot) and the waitress who actually dished up the soup should have know and not served the soup. Poor excuse for a lunch and very poor business practice
(2)Steph G.
The humus and baba ghanoush were very good. However, I was hoping a Mediterranean restaurant would have more Mediterranean food. A lot of the plates are Italian pasta, which I guess is of the Mediterranean region. I had a Greek salad, which definitely did not skimp on the d'état and other toppings. Some schwarma on the menu would have been good.
(3)Lin C.
Sit outside and enjoy a sampler platter of appetizers and a glass of wine. Service is excellent. Wide variety of foods to choose from. Lasagna is awesome
(5)Francesco R.
Had a really nice dinner here last night visiting town on business. Business colleague and I found the place on yelp and gave it a shot. Have to agree with the good reviews. We split the appetizer sampler of hummus, bisara and muhamarra, all of which were excellent. I had lentil soup and he a salad. Soup was great. I has the tuna with romesco sauce. Was very good. For dessert I had the Kunefe. Never heard of it even before but I loved it. Very nice meal and attentive service too.

I went to this place once before and was impressed by the food and service. I went again for valentines day and the food and service is still great. They "ran out" of most desserts that night, but I imagine because it was delicious. : P Definitely going back there again. Great selection of wines by the glass and bottle, beer, food, and much more. It's a nice place to go casual or dressed. It is a bit pricey, but worth the taste.
(5)John K.
Food was very good, what I don't care for when I am dining is a waiter or waitress telling me what I have to order and if I choose different they fight you on changing your mind. Once order was in the waiter ignored us until the food arrived and ignored us again until the bill was dropped off. he wasn't to happy refill drinks and was more concerned with talking to other customers.
(2)Heidi B.
WORST Service Ever. My husband and I went in for a late afternoon lunch. They were not busy at all. We both ordered soup and salad that took FOREVER. Our drinks didn't come until we asked for them again - sorry for having to put our server out and have us request something besides water - geeze. I struggle with this place because sometimes people will tell me such great things, but I'm not sure how anyone can think this poor service is okay. Maybe it was an isolated incident? The food was decent, but unfortunately overshadowed.

I was visiting Helena on a business trip (beautiful town, by the way) and had this restaurant recommended to me by a local. Upon entering the restaurant I was surprised by the atmosphere which was decidedly stuffy Italian restaurant and not "street food" as most Greek and Mediterranean restaurants tend to be. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a fancy layout usually means high prices. And well, yeah, they're high. I ordered the Chicken Brochette which is a fancy term for chicken skewers served with rice, vegetables, and a humble house salad. Price was $18 which is at least $8 too much. "Upgrading" to a side Caesar salad is $1.75 while a Greek salad is a $2.75 up charge. Huh? I wonder if Helena residents realize that such a combination will typically cost you $10 or less in major cities with much higher costs of living? While the chicken kebab itself was flavorful and cooked well, the "basmati rice" upon which it was served was absolutely indistinguishable from basic steamed white rice served at a Chinese buffet. Simply unacceptable. The vegetables were a horrid pile of cooked-to-death, salty remnants of their former selves. Again, atrocious. Looking at other Yelp reviews I would have to agree with them that this restaurant has some major temperature control issues; the air was warm and thick. Matters were not helped much by my server who, with each approach to my table, brought with him an unpleasant breeze of body odor. All the waitresses and other waiters were noticeably sweating. Outside temperatures were hovering around 50 degrees on this day. While I was finishing my meal another local bellied up next to me at the bar and told me that she had recently moved to Helena and that "the food sucks in Helena". If a restaurant such as this one has garnered such high reviews then I'd have to say that I believe her. Not recommended based on the prices which are absurd and the food which is not even up to the quality you can get from food trucks or lunch joints spread all over the United States.

Pleasant patio dining. Shishkabob wasade perfectly to order medium-rare. The Turkish coffee was so-so. Waiter fairly attentive.
(4)Jessica M.
I'm giving this place three stars because the food and the service were good. My husband and I went with another couple and we all enjoyed our meals. The prices however are absurdly high. I didn't feel that the food, as good as it was, merited the high price tag. Nothing we had was super fancy or difficult to make, and at least two of the meals we had were vegetarian. The decor is pretty awful/tacky and definitely does not merit the menu prices. As another reviewer mentioned the seating is uncomfortable at best. I was actually wedged in between the table and the person's chair behind me and I had to sit at an angle to the table to avoid constantly bumping into them. So bottom line the food is good but I probably won't go here again unless someone else is paying.

Haven't been here for about six months. that said, had out of town guest who has been to the usual places in Helena, we decided on Med grill for something different. we were seated right away given menus and and then ignored for more than 15 minutes. I take that back...a nice young man refilled our waters. Our waitress arrived and took our wine and dinner order. Salad came out with wine and we enjoyed that. I tired a special rojo wine and it was excellent. Entrees took a long time and our waitress was no where in sight, wine was about gone. When food came there was a mix up on rare tuna and medium and she took both back to the kitchen when I asked, which was which. My tuna tasted good but 'rare' wasn't even pink in the middle. once all dinners were delivered our waitress did not check back on us at all. we all wanted more wine and one of our party wanted to order to go for her hubby but we were out of luck. long story, short....hour and half later good food, not good service. Top it off, we asked for separate checks...one came out...try again, came back all wrong three ways. By now we are laughing! good thing we didn't get more wine! Bottom line, great food and wine, nice place. Please train staff on level of customer service for the caliber expected of this fine restaurant.

We stumbled upon the Mediterranean Grill when were driving through Helena. It's a really cute place! The food was pretty good! We had the Rigatoni and Fettuccini Alfredo. We had a Turkish dish for desert. The desert, especially, was surprisingly good! The service was also good. The woman at the table behind us didn't like the lasagna( I kind of got felt like they were just trying to get a free meal), but he owner himself came and took care of it. He didn't charge them for the meal and seemed to really understand customer service. Our biggest complaint with the service was that they never refilled our water. The place was really cute. The interior is amazing! The painting on the inside and the architecture was amazing! I really appreciated that they made it feel like we were in Greece!

This place needs a new talented chef. Sprinkling a few dry spices on some meat doesnt make good food. They need to develop deep flavors not shallow ones. And they need better coffee. Needs work.
(2)Emma R.
We were lucky to find another gluten free (& "regular" cuisine) gem!!! We had a great experience here & my wood stove baked GF rigatoni was INCREDIBLE!!! My husband ordered "regular" eggplant Parmesan & said his was especially delicious as well. On top of that, their wine special was wonderful also. Definitely look forward to returning when we come back to Helena!!
(5)Jesper D.
Went here on a Monday evening and we were happily surprised and impressed. Not often anymore that I get to try new dishes that I had never even heard off before. Everything we tried was delicious and the service was solid too. I can highly recommend that you explore this restaurant and dive into the menu and try something unique and delicious.

Some of interersting Menu & Nice People. Need to upgrade the level of operation, systematically. About food, I can say, just OK. I don't recommend Seafood in this place ;(

Here on work. Yelped town and found this cafe for dinner. Cool inside with a beautiful brick oven center pieced by the bar top, bar stools and tables. So, my Greek salad (for 2.50 extra with an entree) was fresh but the dressing was too watery for a Greek. And, my chicken in tomato sauce with rice and veggies was, for the most part, cooked well. But, there was wayyyyyyyyy toooooooo much garlic. I love Garlic. But, there is a limit. And, I could tell it came from a jar. Fresh garlic would be a huge improvement. It's pretty to prep garlic. My veggies were over cooked too. Not mush. But, I would've liked a more vibrant side. They didn't seem to be utilizing the brick oven pizza except for bread and baking their lasagna. And, the bread they served me was ice cold. I asked the chef manning the oven to warm it up for me. Which, he was cool about. They could be a 3 or 4 star if they made several small improvements.

This place was amazing! The location in Helena is great and the interior of the building was gorgeous, with a large brick stone oven constantly in use. The warmth and aromas coming from it were tranquilizing. Being a busy night, my boyfriend and I started the evening with wine at the bar, a white riesling from Spain, until we could get seated. The seating is a bit tight but it makes for a homey/comfy experience, especially with a great wait staff being friendly and accommodating. The variety in wine was to die for, so many options from literally any part of Mediterranean area. For dinner I had the salmon which was moist and herbed/spiced just right; along with the white rice that accompanied being just as delicious. My boyfriend had the curry/rice/soup which he absolutely loved. The portions were great, just enough room left to split a dessert. Upon finishing we had a gentleman (owner? manager?) stop by our table and ask about our visit; being such a busy night it was a nice touch that left a good impression. Definitely coming back to this place!
(5)Shar L.
My husband & I have tried to give Mediterranean Grill several tries over the last few years. The overall atmosphere is a little odd and the seating not very comfortable. Plus it is always chilly inside, no matter what time of year is. Average service and lots of good ***sounding*** choices on the menu. However, my husband and I both end up feeling sick the day after we've eaten at Med Grill, without exception it seems. Not sure if it's just the mix of too many different spices and flavors in a given dish or sensitive stomachs, but it makes it difficult for us to frequent this establishment unfortunately.
(2)John D.
The best gluten-free pasta ever. The regular pasta lasagna dish was very good, but with three gluten-free diners, finding a meal that satisfies all can be a challenge. The Mediterranean Grill met the challenge, providing gluten-free rigatoni in both bolognese and alfredo sauces that matched any wheat pastas out there. Good service, good wine, lots of options. The best place we have found in Helena.
(5)Jeremy G.
Decent food. Nice service. healthy options. Right in downtown. As an out of towner it was a nice place to go to when I was sick of burgers/steaks.
(3)Bob J.
We had eaten here a couple times in past years, this time with a party of 7. There was a slight crowd, but no waiting around and we were seated right away outside. Took about 15 minutes to order drinks and not one of our group of 7 could understand a word our waiter said in his thick accent but it took another 10 min to get our drinks and order which was when the horror began. We did finally order and after a full hour and a second bottle of wine, our waiter informed us that our food would be served in FOUR minutes because of a new waiter but that he would be back shortly, but after another 25 - 30 min he came to tell us it would be another "few" minutes. We saw 2 couples leave who arrived before us and I kept racking my brain trying to figure out what made our meals take so long while my brother in-law had to wait almost 30 minutes to get a simple diet coke. After another 10 - 15 minutes, our food finally came, which was almost all steaks, 2 of which were totally raw, and it took another 10 - 15 minutes to cook. I had ordered the fillet medallions and roasted red potatoes, but instead got an over-cooked single fillet and cubed home fries which were also horribly overcooked. Not a SINGLE of our group of seven actually received what we ordered and after 2 and a half hours, didn't even get a cut in price despite a couple complaints, though they threw in one of the bottles of wine. We swore never to return and as we were leaving my nephew in the restroom overheard the cooks (who had taken several smoking breaks on the patio while we waited) squawking about how "rude" we were just to ask for an update on when our food would finally be delivered. I've had better Mediterranean food out of food stands at our local fairgrounds for about a quarter the price and was very disappointed to have never been given a single apology. So if you're in Helena, your best bet is to stay far away. The only excuse for the long wait was 'a new cook', but there was no excuse for the awful service.
(1)Andrew R.
Inattentive service. Truly heinous "decor". One excellent appetizer. One foul entree. I only continued eating it after the first bite out of a sick fascination, and a sense of duty to my fellow diners, in order to try and deduce what, exactly, made it so bad. I failed, heroically. It sucked, folks. There was a flavor there that wasn't just bad, or "not good"; it wasn't even a food flavor at all. One huge bill. Draw your own conclusions.
(1)Michelle C.
Great ambiance. Service is hit and miss here. Had to wait 25 minutes for a salmon salad, which I have had 3 times total. this time it was disappointingly small portion and not half as fresh as before. Wine selection is top-notch. Falafel sandwich was delicious.
(3)Rosie C.
This place is seriously mediocre. I've been here three times, and left unimpressed or seriously disgruntled every time. It seems like there's often something cooked badly (soggy gnochi, or a hefty dose of raw garlic in a sauce), and they seem to always use dry instead of fresh spices, which don't give much flavor. The decor is super cheesy, and together, the weird ambience and the bland or badly cooked food definitely don't merit the hefty price tag -- if you want to go out for a nice dinner and pay this much, go to On Broadway or Lucca's, both of which serve much better food.
(2)Keith S.
It's interesting to read the extreme contrasts in reviews- I for one like this place. (Granted, the wall decor is a bit quirky- I think my 5 year old could have done a better job, but the food is really the thing here.) Only been there for Sunday brunches- I enjoy having the option to taste a little of a lot. It gets a little noisy in there sometimes, but I guess that's because the customers are enjoying themselves. Some of the food is unique, but that should be a given considering the type of restaurant it is. I've always left this place full and fulfilled. Service has always been very good to excellent. The entrees are excellent (altho I'll admit I'm afraid to try some of them- maybe I'll muster up the courage someday!) Great pizza. Fantastic desserts- even downright addicting- we usually take an order to go. I hope they're around for a long time!

When I started making trips to helena,mt - I thought I was going to have a challenging time figuring out Vegetarian food. Went to Mediterrenean Grill on the second day for lunch and found that the veggie pita sandwich there was really high quality. Also had the lentil soup (not sure about the base - I adopted a "Don't ask, Don't tell policy" on that one!) which was fantastic. Did exactly the same thing when I went back a month later. I think the food is real good and compares real well against some of the more hyped mediterrenean restaurants near DC metro area and SF area. Will definitely go there again when I get back to Helena.
(4)Moe B.
One of the best meals we have had in our last 3 weeks of travel across the country. Great food and service. A Mediterranean restaurant in Helena, MT... what a nice surprise .

So I'm back working on the road now and it appears I'm stuck in Montana and going to be here for awhile so expect a few reviews from here. I went to the Mediterranean Grill to eat dinner with my co-workers on Friday night. The menu was quite extensive and there were a lot of food that sounded very appealing. My colleage and I shared the appetizer sampler which was flat bread with your three choice of dipping sauces from the following: Hummus, Baba-Ghannouj, Muhammara, Tapenade or Bisara. We chose the Hummus, Muhammara, and Bisara (they were out of the Baba-Ghannouj). All the dips were really good and I loved them.. the least flavorable was the Hummus. As I'm a fan of rib-eye, I ordered the Baharat Rubbed Grilled Rib-Eye Steak. This was 16oz of rib-eye rubbed with Baharat and grilled. Baharat is a mixed of Middle Eastern spices. It came with a side of red potatoes and seasonal steamed vegetables. All entrees are served with either a side of their soup of the day or classic salad. I had their side seafood chowder which was actually really good with big chunks of salmon. My boss got their side classic salad, which was a very beautiful and scrumptuous looking greek salad. I was regretting that I didn't go with the salad 'cause it looked that good! My disappointment was that I had specifically asked if it was a bone-in ribeye as I like my steak to have a bone in it since I find it makes the meat more juicy. I usually won't order rib-eye if it's boneless--that's not how I roll when it comes to my meats! haha.. I was quite disapointed when my rib-eye came out boneless and when I commented on it to my waiter, he just kept quiet as if he didn't understand me and he probably didn't since he had a heavy Mediterranean accent. I had also ordered my steak medium to medium-rare and the meat came out more medium to medium-well. The steak wasn't really that tender and I felt they over-seasoned the potatoes and steamed vegetables with too much rosemary or thyme--or whatever it is that's similar to those herbs. As this isn't a steak house, I can't expect too much from their steak and therefore, gave them a higher rating than I would have at any other steak establishment--especially since I felt I was eating quite a bit of over-charcoaled meat. I do look forward (and plan) on coming back here to try their other dishes although I felt a lil' cheated by my waiter's mis-information regarding the rib-eye. The steak wasn't bad and the other dishes my colleagues had were pretty good. I'll try to select a more Mediterranean dish and if I find that still a bit disappointing, I may have to come back on here and update my review.

My fiance and I just had lunch at "The Mediterranean Grill" after our typical Saturday morning of errands and shopping. I had the appetizer sampler (hummus, baba gahnnouj, and tapanade.... sorry about poor spelling), he had the Greek salad. While the potions were substantial, the fare was light and perfect for an afternoon out and about. The service was friendly and attentive. The wine list was a nice size and very reasonably as well. The med grill is classified as Greek but is definitely more Mediterranean with a lot of middle eastern fare, and a focus of Turkish and Lebanese food. Overall, we feel this will quickly become our favorite Helena lunch spot.

Sunday brunch is amazing! High quality, fresh foods! Wait staff can be iffy, owner reminds me of the "no soup for you" guy from Seinfeld.

For the price, I either ordered the wrong thing or the prices here are way out of line and the service is non existent. To get a waitress to notice you on the patio was impossible. We did have a great appetizer which was an assortment of Hummus and other Greek specialties and some nice wine. Even after they took your order, an hour wait for an entree is unacceptable. I ordered steak - thinking I was in Montana and it would be great. WRONG! I ordered it medium rare and it was well done. We could never find a waitress to fix the problem so I ate the vegetables which were fresh and great. When the waitress arrived she said that they would fix it even though I said I did not want it. Finally, after 15 minutes, they decided to give us a refund for the food. Do not go here if it is busy or you want attentive service. They do not know what customer service is or how to treat their diners. No manager should let what happens here continue. There only redeeming factor is the patio which is large and overlooks the town and hills of Helena.

I went with some family to celebrate my cousin's college graduation and was not disappointed! Our server was both friendly and knowledgable. The swordfish kabob I had was excellent as was the rest of the food my family ordered. If I ever make it back to Helena, I'll definitely be back.

So, I'd have to agree with a few of the reviews that say the atmosphere is a bit cold. We've been here several times, and have had a whole range of experiences from cold and frosty to warm and toasty. I think it depends a lot on the day, server, weather, stock market, way you tied your shoes, blah blah blah. The service completely depends on who you get...but the food... I don't understand who is complaining about the food. I have vivid dreams about the basmati rice, and anytime I go I make sure whatever I'm ordering comes with it. The hummus is great, the baba-ghannouj is yummy, and the muhamarra is sooooo good! At least go give it a try (and a second chance if you didn't like it the first time around)!

This is our family's go-to place in Helena for a nice dinner. We've had the kabobs, pasta, pizza, and sandwiches - all wonderful. The falafel sandwich is awesome - very fresh falafel in a pita with veggies and sauce. The side salads are very nice as well. And if you are into caffeine, make sure you try the Turkish coffee. Yeah, the cup is little (and DON'T drink the last sip), but, oh, is it nice. And the buzz is terrific. I would agree with the comment on the environment - we've been either comfortable or cold, and one time very, very cold. But in the summer they have outdoor seating, which is terrific.

I've dined almost everywhere in Helena over the past third century. Helena has, for sure a shortage of "really good" eateries. But a couple stand out, and I go back to them over and over when I want to entertain out-of-town company. MG is probably my favorite. Its extensive menu is consistently of high quality, rendered with panache. Is the seating the most comfortable? No. Is the temperature always perfect (delivered by the landlord, I presume)? No. But none of those minor distractions reduces the fact that I consistently receive the most gourmet of Helena's dining experiences, whenever I go there. It's prices are not cheap, but it's competitive with all of Helena's other quality restaurants, and much less pricey than some. I know I can go to the MG, get top quality, delightfully spiced appetizers, entree's, and deserts, and I'll leave the place fat and happy. Of note, as a recent vegetarian convert, I've found MG has the best menu in Helena to give me variety, and quality, and stay on my diet.

Went here twice for lunch during my week-long stay in Helena, and I wish we could have brought it back to the east coast with us. Fabulous pasta and fabulous pizza, so good and so filling that we didn't need to eat dinner. Having grown up in NY and NJ surrounded by dozens upon dozens of Italian restaurants I'll admit that I'm kind of a snob about Italian food. So hats off to Mediterranean Grill, and you'll definitely see me again if I ever make my way back to Helena!

I have nine words for Mediterranean Grill: Chillax on the salt and turn down the AC. I have only been here once, but the fact that the salad was the only memorably delicious thing any of the four of us ordered and the super duper extra salty taste of every entree on the table really turned me off. And the fact that I was FAH-REEZING from the moment I walked in. And I leave you with my parting words: The salt.

This used to be my favorite restaurant in the whole world. I have had some amazing meals here. I still like it a lot but over time I have had some uneven service and food which moved it down from the top spot. I agree with the reviewer who said it was cold. Now, whenever we go for brunch I make sure I have a good sweater on. I agree with the reviewer on the brunch who said load up on the buffet and perhaps have your entree boxed up to take home. My favorite dish here is the lamb kabobs for dinner. The patio dining in the summer is wonderful. That's about it- I do recommend this restaurant if you are in Helena and hopefully you will have good timing as far as service and your meal. I have never had a bad experience, just a few not great experiences.

Brunch.....Helena doesn't know what this is. Seriously. It's a big-city thing that has yet to meander its way into Montana. The only place I know of in the whole city that has it down is the Med Grill. Sundays only, sadly....but well worth it. It's a $15 per person event, and trust me, you get more than you pay for. A list of maybe five entrees is provided, and while your selection is being prepared, you have unlimited access to a buffet style table with an array of appetizers, soups, pizzas, fresh fruit, and desserts. I suggest gorging on all of this, and once your entree comes out, just ask them to box it up. Trust me, this is an amazing deal, and go easy on the staff, it's not their fault that they're sometimes understaffed. As for normal dining, I'm not too big on the pizza selection, but the pastas are great. Try the Lasagna Romagnola- yummy!!! The alcohol and wine selection is somewhat lacking, but Miller's bar is right next door - get a great meal and skip over there for your drinks!

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Patio dining in summer. We will go there again.
