A hidden gem in little Eureka, Montana! A co-worker and I arrived in Eureka at 7pm on a Wednesday night and the Powderhorn was the only restaurant in town (not counting Subway) that was open. We checked the dinner menu (surprisingly extravagent dishes but reasonably priced) but were more in the mood for sandwiches. We popped inside to ask if we could eat off the lunch menu and the owner responded "Sure, that's what we do!" and we sat down at the counter. Short version - both our sandwiches were great. I had a reuben based on the owners recommendation and liked it a lot. My vegetarian co-worker asked about the Italian Veggie Grinder and was assured of its quality. She went for it and really enjoyed it. Actual fresh vegetables (mushrooms, broccoli, onions, peppers, tomato, etc.) and a vegetarian marinara sauce. The owner was the only other person in the place and provided great conversation and entertainment the whole time. Two filling sandwiches and two sodas for $18 - can't beat that. I'll definitely go back to the Powderhorn next time I'm in Eureka.

This happened to be one of the only places open in Eureka for an early dinner. Walking in, we didn't know what to expect, but we really weren't expecting much. Much to our surprise and delight, the food was absolutely delicious! Hubby had the Reuben, and said it was one of the best he's ever had. Or son had the pastrami with Swiss and he said it was really good. I had the half Backcountry with a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and both were totally awesome. Mike, our sandwich chef extraordinaire, was very friendly and provided a wealth of information about the local area. I rarely give 5 stars, but it would be worth going through Eureka again just to eat here.

Horrible food, rude grumpy staff (think its the owner) very rude to my grandmother and I, no respect for the elderly. I would be surprised if this restaurant makes it another week! I will never go back again and would recommend eating food from the gas stations trash can before eating here. Ps the "kitchen area" was filthy! I saw a dog wonder in! To top my experience off, I found a hair in my sandwich (human I think... Gross!)

We find it incredible that anyone recommended this cafe. When asked if they had beer we were told to go next door and bring one back for her. She appeared to be way to laid back to want to slow her down any more. She asked what you wanted to drink and got one drink at a time and couldn't seem to hold on to the concept of more than one drink. When my husband ordered a soda she pointed to a dispenser across the room. He had to get us napkins, and silverware also by reaching behind the bar. The cook had apparently gone for additional food because he showed up about ten minutes after we had seated ourselves. The sandwiches were OK but they were not served with anything else. No pickle, no chips or fries. They were not even on the menu. If you were out of her sight you were out of her mind. We had to ask for addition water and feel sorry for those waiting for service in the back room dining area. We would not recommend this place.
