I decided to visit this warehouse-turned-restaurant on May 23, 2013 on the recommendation of a local resident. I was seated right away by staff that almost seemed excited to see me. It was very welcoming. The menu is simple but nearly every fish and meat dish had me tempted. My server was clearly a foodie and seemed just as interested in the menu selections as I was. It was also a good sign that she actually had eaten some of the foods and could describe how that nights' special tasted. I decided to go with seafood paella. I am a sucker for Spanish food. I really appreciated how carefully it was plated. The bright yellow saffron infused risotto contrasted nicely with the purposely placed sea scallop, pink prawn, and shimmering green mussel shell. All the seafood was cooked beautifully, no rubbery mussels here. What was especially nice was the discovery that an equal number of sea creatures were hidden under the risotto. My only complaint is that the risotto had that 'refrigerator-smell' taste. Maybe it is seasoned fresh but is it possible the rice had already been cooked and refrigerated or frozen? I would come back simply to try the many other delicious sounding entrees on the menu.

I just went to Casagranda's for sushi night which is just on Thursdays. I was a little skeptical being from Denver and ordering sushi in a town without a major airport. They get their shipment of fish along with Bozeman's once a week, so it's fresh. I have to tell you they had a FULL menu of specialty rolls, standard rolls sushi and sashimi and it was all very good. the seaweed salad was one of the best I've had. They really go all out including ingredients like mango and habanero peppers in the rolls. When I'm in Butte I will be found here on Thursdays! And make reservations because they pack the house.

I had dinner here a few times while traveling for work. Of all the places to eat in Butte, I'd rank Casagranda's near the top, but only if you order a steak for the main course. The bread and soup of the day are always excellent. I would be pretty happy if all I had to eat was a big bowl of their soup. With regards to the main courses, I've ordered the ribeye au poivre and the chicken oscar. Both came in large portions. I've had better steak elsewhere, but this has got to be the best steak in the area. The chicken oscar, though, was sub-par. A co-worker had the duck a la orange and found it nearly inedible. I wouldn't recommend straying from the steaks. The service here is good, but occasionally clumsy. All in all, it's a great place for a casual meal and a business dinner.

I am from AZ, up here on business. I am here for 2 weeks, and of course I asked where good places to eat were. I was recommended many places so I figured I would try all of them. On the fourth night I went to the CasaGrandas SteakHouse when I pulled up to the restaurant it had eye appeal. It looks like an old warehouse is was cool looking. As I walked in i noticed that it was decorated nicely. I ate dinner at the bar. The bar the bartender was very polite. I ordered the Skinny Rings as an appetizer and NY Strip, Oscar style cooked rare for dinner. all I can say is WOW. This was the best steak I have eaten in a long time, I wish this place was in Arizona. The last place I had a steak this good was 3 years ago in New Jersey. The only issue was that it took forever to get my dinner, 30/45 min wait after I already recieved my appetizer. I will be back hopefully many more time befor my trip is over. The taste well out weighs the wait for food. I really don't understand why people think that The Derby has better food, the quality of food doesent even compare. This is just my 100% truthfull experience I gain nor lose anything from my review. Anyway's judge for yourself, you will love it : )

This was a really cool restaurant in historic downtown Butte. The halibut was great as was the steak and prawns. Full course meals which included yummy chili soup, salad, main course and really good ice cream with caramel sauce. Tip: order the fries, they're homemade!

Hands down an amazing restaurant. The owners have wonderful taste in decor and have excellent hard working people. The arts pasta is spicy and amazing as long as you like spicy. They have wonderful home made crutons for the salad And the sushi Thursday's is what always puts a smile on my face. They have a different kind of sushi and variety but it's amaZing. This is a ten star restaurant

I had a couple guests visit from Canada. The girls really wanted to have a good "Montana Steak" so we asked around and were referred to Casagranda's! We went decided to give it a try. I ordered a side of French fries and a beer. The girls both ordered a sirloin medium-rare. Their steak was very good and came with a salad, twice baked potato, and ice cream for dessert! The server was nice. They werent very busy when we arrived, so the food arrived quickly. They have quite a few local Montana Micro brews on tap, which is always a plus in my book. I'll be going here again soon with my husband!

I was a bit concerned when I called to make a reservation & had to leave a message, but even though I called twice & changed the time they were ready for us--& we were early. Our waitress was enthusiastic, knowledgeable & speedy, even with a table of 15+ nearby. She identified the bread spread (sun dried tomatoes & seasoning) that I couldn't suss out. I had the petite filet & it was twice as big as I expected. Demi glace was subtle & delicious. Hubby had prime rib & enjoyed their horseradish sauce--it doesn't blast the tastebuds. I had a salad with house-made berry vinaigrette. Very good. We barely had room for the ice cream included in the meal but it was worth it. All told dinner was $58 (no alcohol) plus a generous tip. Too bad we live in WA--we'd be back in a heartbeat.

The Sea Food Bisque, was salty, two bites and ready to have it taken away. And not just be but 5 of us. Terrible soup! table was wobbly we had to place a menu under a leg. The waitress for got her head at home. The high ball was made with diet coke, we wanted a 7up. She screwed up the deserts. One person desert was basically uneatable. The salad had no taste bland, croutons were weird tasting. The halibut dinner was good though.

This place is consistently good. They offer unique specials which are generally quite nice. I had parrotfish kabobs last time and they were awesome. Their steaks are generally better and more reasonable priced than The Derby and the atmosphere is very well put together. Downsides are that it is generally very busy and loud. Also, they keep the garbage dumpster right in front of where you walk to enter the place. They should change that and I would up the rating.

We went to Casagranda's Steakhouse with 9 people and had a great dinner. I had the filet mignon, which was fantastic! Everyone else in our party also enjoyed their meals very much. Crissy was our server, she was professional, courteous, personable and very competent. The restaurant was full and she was obviously very busy, but she was totally on it. All in all it was a great experience. If you are in Butte, I highly recommend this restaurant. I promise that you will enjoy the food, and you will definitely not leave hungry!

Is so refreshing a tasty when a restaurant nows how to cook a proper steak Blue. The breaded mushrooms is a must as an appetizer, the best I've ever had. The service is down home friendly.

This was our first visit to Casagranda, a restaurant that does very well with first impressions. Our party of 4 was seated quickly at this fantastic old town Butte eatery despite walking into a packed house with no reservation. The wait staff was hustling yet cheerful and accommodating, definitely on point. I never had to ask for refills of my drink, and requests were fulfilled promptly throughout our dinner. It was hard not to be impressed. Food came quickly and--to be quite honest--was the best meal I've had in the state of Montana in some time. My medium rare steak was grilled perfectly and the shrimp scampi was delectable. Casagranda has definitely made it as a 'must-go' place for me whenever I return to Butte.

"Casagranda's" the hotel clerk yelped abruptly when I asked her where would be a good place to get a nice juicy steak in Butte on a muggy Saturday night in July. Ignoring her demeanor, my wife and I traipsed towards Butte's City Center in eager anticipation of a fulfilling meal. This small city in Montana is interesting for I'm sure a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that the downtown area is up on a mountain - most of the time it can be found near a river, or at the very least is in a flat area. While both are available here, I'm guessing its hillside location is mostly due to the rich mining history of the area. Which was certainly bustling this evening - at least one major artery was closed to vehicular traffic due to some sort of festival - whether it was a Farmers Market or a celebration of some sort we did not learn. I had it in mind that night that I would partake in a steak come hell or highwater, so I decided on the Prime Rib, to which I was not disappointed. The toppings matched it just fine, but I was a bit disappointed that they did not have Moose Drool available (although it says so on their online menu). Wife had the creamy vodka tortellini with chicken and she seemed well satisfied as well. I will say that the desserts weren't quite what we'd anticipated - I was personally hoping for a nice hunk of cheesecake, but that'll have to wait for another time. So, if you're looking for a succulent steak for a not unreasonable price, and don't care so much for what beer and desserts are available, Casagranda's is a perfectly adequate selection.

Whoa. Well done. Large "petit" filets. Delicious soup ahead of dinner. A huge shrimp cocktail too. Oh and bread. And a m healthy wine pour too. I'm sold! Service was wonderful. Atmosphere varied, curious and fun. Good for the whole family. Thanks yelp for your help in this. We chose it based on reviews while driving through. Glad we went here!

    (5)
  • Angela K.

The creamy vodka tortellini with chicken was delicious and sublime. Their bread and salad fresh. The service was prompt. My margarita was weak, however, and so was dessert. I could wish for more variety with desserts and more potent drinks. If I hadn't been to better steakhouses which did well in the later two areas, I might have given be this a four star.

  • Laurie T.

We went here for our anniversary as were traveling through Butte and my husband and I each had one of the best steaks ever. We're from the east coast originally and have been in many NYC high end steakhouses and the steaks here were comparable! Casual and lively atmosphere. I had the petite filet with the drunken sauce that was simply amazing and my husband had the t-bone. This place is kid friendly and our server was so friendly to accommodate our 11 month old. This was such a wonderful dining experience, a definite must stop when in Butte if you're looking for a great steak!

    (5)
  • Ryan M.

The ranch was the only saving grace that made the food edible. Halibut was rubber. Steak was ok. Service doesn't earn stars in my book if the food sucks (but it was ok).

Great place for dinner if you visit Butte. Food is good and service as well. The place itself is cool and representing the city!

Wow just had the petit filet mignon with mushrooms, it was one of the best I have ever tried. Juicy and full of flavor, melted in my mouth. Perfect!

I don't live in butte but every time we come through we come here! This place is amazing. The food is great, I have tried just about everything on the menu at least once & have never been disappointed, but it's so beautiful inside it would be worth coming just for that. It's in an old warehouse. The ceiling is about 25 feet up and supported by thick heavy beams of wood. The walls are covered in old receipts, invoices, letters & post cards. Very historic. Very different. And very very good

    (5)
  • Debra M.

Incredible food, great historic atmosphere, great teamwork by the servers. We had steak, me the petite filet with blue cheese, the hubby, rib eye with mushrooms. Homemade tomato soup was excellent, twice baked potato yummy and ice cream was a great finish. We didn't have a reservation on Saturday night but still got right in. We have been to Ruth Chris and Uncle Jacks steakhouse in NY and this was every bit as good for a very reasonable price. We will be back.

    (5)
  • Jerry K.

Wow what a racket, no reservation and you will wait at least 1 1/2 hours. We looked at the bar and they only have maybe 10 seats there for immediate seating. Over half the tables were empty in the restaurant and nobody in line!!!!!

  • Lance L.

They have great steaks that will fill you up there side dishes are very good you won't leave hungry I guarantee that

OMG we had a fabulous Father's Day dinner here. The restaurant was busy. We called on our way over and they treated us like a regular reservation. Seated before we could get a cocktail. We shared the big t-bone, $43 included extra set up of sides and dessert. Everything was right, even though they were super busy. Will definitely stop here again. Found on Yelp as we were just traveling thru Butte.

  • John S.

The food and service was outstanding. The wife had the fish special with angel hair pasta and I had the lemon pasta. Since soup, salad, bread and ice cream are included, you won't leave hungry. The bread was served hot with a red pepper paste (excellent). All the salad dressings are home made. The asparagus soup was simply amazing...loved it. We shared our pasta dishes with each other. We both couldn't believe that we found such a great restaurant in Butte, MT. We definitely will be back on our next trip to Butte.

We are in town for a few days and decided to celebrate our anniversary here.we didn't have reservations and they made room for us and the ribeye was amazing !! Love the service as well

We have eaten here a few years ago when we were in the area and thought it was great. We went back tonight and it was quite busy. We expected it to take longer than usual and were patient. However, each course was taking a long time and the waitress was getting worse and worse. She was paying special attention to tables that ordered a lot of drinks and ignoring us. The food was still good but the service was unacceptable. It was also so noisy you couldn't even hear your dining partner. No apologies from the waitress. When I gave her my charge card to pay the bill, she disappeared, After 10 minutes I began to get nervous. We finally found her and reminded her about the charge card. Still no apologies, but at least we were able to leave. Her tip suffered due to her poor service. I even wrote her a note on the charge card receipt telling her why her tip suffered.

Visiting here from out of state. Had chicken oscar and filet. Everything was amazing. The decor inside is early 1900's, so cool to see older receipts and other items. Drinks were decently poured. Would come here again for sure

A great restraunt. My folks took the family for a last meal before my sister flew back home later in the week. Tried a little of everything but I start with the bread the give you is delicious with a a red pesto dip as well as butter. The then will serve you a salad with many dressing options. I had the ceaser which was a sold ceaser. I also ordered the soup which was enchilada soup that was awesomely delicious. My main course was steak and scampi. The scampi was delicious and the steak was tender and perfectly cooked. The then served a scoop o ice cream the option were several standard and a rotating specialty on. I had a turtle sundae that was a very good cap to the meal. Would love to come back great food and great service.

Awesome food, great service and unique atmosphere. Pastas from scratch, homemade soup, from the outside you will say really...but you must go in, you won't be disappointed.

  • Jennifer K.

Delicious, good value meal. Steak came with soup, bread, salad, potatoes AND ice cream - and all quite good quality! Nice yet casual environment..surprisingly good wine. One complaint is that the steak was cooked more like well done and we ordered them medium...but the rest made up for the over-cooked meat.

Casagranda's Steakhouse is our favorite restaurant. We go there at least once a month. We were there just yesterday. Food is always great and service has always been excellent!

  • Diane D.

We had a lovely time in this old converted warehouse. I had the filet mignon, and my husband had the chicken oscar. Delicious! The meal came with lovely bread, the soup of the day - that day was beef enchilada ( delightfully spicy) - a choice of salad or shrimp cocktail, our well executed entree, and a scoop of homemade ice cream for dessert. We enjoyed our time in this restaurant and had excellent service.

Great spot in Butte. Our server was great, enjoyed a Montana craft ale and the steak sandwich was fantastic. As good of sirloin as I have ever had, prepared to perfection. Enjoyed the house made salad dressings and French fries as well. Would happily return on next Butte visit!

I wanted to give five stars! I really wanted to. It depends on who you get as a waiter. Philip/Phillipe is really good and attentive. I have had downright RUDE waitstaff. The first several trips here, the food and service was amazing. The last two trips, not so much. They take reservations, but even if the group is VERY late, you still have to sit there and stand in their doorway area, which could benefit from a couple of benches. I think the seating issues are due to the fact the very youthful hostess isn't very experienced yet. At least that was the case during my last couple of trips. On a busy weekend night between 6-8 PM, this place would benefit from having a professional, experienced host running the seating. They do not seem to be good at being busy...when the place is full, the staff seem to lose it. I hope this changes over time! They should also move their salad area away from the heat. I have had a warm Caesar salad delivered to me TWICE...ewww! This tends to only happen when they are so busy that they have salads sitting out ready to deliver to guests. Keep those babies in the cooler! I gave it four stars because I think their food is great! The filets are top notch. Soups are always fantastic. Overall, my experiences have been good...there are just a few things mentioned above that could really push this place into the five star range.

  • Richard S.

The only thing better than the food at Casagranda's was the service provided by Kinsey! The filet w/mushrooms was fantastic as was the chicken oscar. The atmosphere was great and the prices very reasonable!

    (5)
  • Allison K.

I have eaten steaks all over the country, and this is still in my all time top 5. Delicious. Plus, the pricing is very reasonable considering the amount of food you get. Do not let the outside warehouse district scare you. Inside is very rustic and cute. They even papered the walls wall with old bills and letters they found. Most are in Italian, but local. It is a glimpse of the diverse city that was/is Butte, America.

  • Renee G.

Casagranda's ground beef sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. The decor and atmosphere here is very casual and comfortable. Good service, attentiveness does vary but I've never had a memorably bad wait time. As far as the menu, the drinks are good, crab cakes are flavorful and their sushi is impressive. The only thing I've tried that I wouldn't get again is the calamari appetizer.

We travelled all day from Canada and when we checked in to our hotel I asked the receptionist where she likes to eat. she said this was one of her favourite places. It is located in a very old building that would have been difficult to find if it were not daylight. It is located in the old part of town. We arrived before 6pm and didn't have reservations but were seated quickly. Our service was outstanding! And the food even better. Would make a special trip to get here again. Barb

Great and attentive service without being in the way. Food was quite good, and courses came out right away after previous course, appetizer finished and salad right there then main course and dessert. Very enjoyable meal.

    (4)
  • Miranda B.

Let's start with dessert: the chocolate ice cream studded with chocolate pretzels was excellent. Creamy, sweet, and salty. I could have used another scoop. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. She let us split an entree, and was on top of our needs. But the duck special was a dud. The duck was undercooked (I eat medium rare duck a lot, both at home and In Restaurants) and lacked flavor. It was barely warm, and plunked in the plate with nothing to accent if. A real disappointment. Salads were fresh, and the beer choices were good.

  • Aly Y.

Very busy and popular place on a Saturday night. We were a large group but service was very friendly and efficient. For starters, I had a cup of what they called "beef stew" but it was more like a light beef soup with carrots and potatoes. Very tasty. I also had a salad which was just ok. For an entree, I really wanted steak but decided to eat more healthily after eating out every day for the whole week so I ordered the apple salmon - brown sugar cured and charbroiled salmon surrounded by caramelized apples and topped with a sweet apple beurre blanc (well, somewhat healthier). It was very good. Most people ordered steak and the general consensus was that the steaks were cooked perfectly. For dessert, we had a choice of two sheet cakes that they prepared for us (we ordered them in advance) - a milk chocolate cake and a pina colada cake. The pina colada cake was really good and a favorite among our group. Great dinner to cap off our last day in Butte.

This restaurant came well recommended and it lived up to its reputation. First its in a historic building, a converted warehouse-very interesting decor. The drinks were well executed and there were many beer, wine, and liquor offerings. The food was also local, organic, and well prepared. The steaks are grass fed, and the halibut fresh fabulous. Great find!

Ambience and location are amazing. I love the history behind the location as well as the fact that it is close to central Butte and while the food was very good, I wasn't blown away. That said, I would likely go back as it is still one of the best restaurants in town.

Decided to do something different for our Anniversary and drove over to. Butte fro Clancy. I found Casagrandas's online and decided to give it a try. First off what a great old building. Started off with a drink in the bar (Guido's), ordered a carafe of wine..good and reasonable priced. Ordered dinner. I had the shrimp and my husband had the sirloin steak. Both were fantastic. In all the years of marriage I have never seen my husband not finish his plate...he actually had to take some home. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back. Great service too.

  • Mare V.

If you are hungry and would like a five course meal, this is definitely the place to come. All meals come with soup, salad, bread, main dish and side and your choice of ice cream to end the meal. A little pricey but for the amount of food you get, not a bad deal.

    Best restaurant in Butte....hands down

  • Kristy K.

The restaurant is located in the old historic part of town. It blends in with all the other surrounding buildings so pay attention so as not to pass it. Once inside you are surprised at how warm and friendly it is. We were greeted promptly and had wonderful service. The menu is very upscale with entrees to fill any appetite. With the entrees you get soup, salad, and dessert so be ready to eat. Lisa was super nice to come over and chat us up. A must place to visit! We'll be back. Kristy K

I must respond to the owners comments. I never used the "F bomb"nor did I point my finger in her face!! That is just an out and out lie! I was not abusive to her "staff" either! this owners attempt to justify her horrible food and service with lies about what transpired during our meal is just despicable! Shame in you!

Very very good steak here. Skip the Derby and head uptown. Nice old building, much quieter than the Derby and bigger parking lot. Also for your salad, blue cheese dressing is off the hook!

Had dinner here with a couple colleagues while on business in Butte. I guess the meal was OK. We had a deaf curmudgeon for a waitress who appeared to be overworked and tired. We all ordered steaks and they were pretty good. The soup and salad were palatable. The water girl was good but the other service was pretty slow. I guess this place was busy and the staff appeared to be harried. All in all, when in Butte, try this place. The building is pretty nondescript but everything in Butte is old and unique. I'll come back.

A Dinner for Two I was in Butte visiting my boyfriend who was there for work for nearly 2 months (March and April). The whole time he was there he raved about how good the beef is in Montana. I have always been a steak-lover at heart, but at home we only eat meat about once every two weeks, so I knew I would have to get a good steak while I was in town. We actually found Casagranda's by accident. We were just exploring the small downtown area and I spotted the place. My boyfriend, who had been in Butte a few weeks, had not tried it yet and we decided to investigate (it was Easter day so we needed to make sure they were open). We looked it up on the internet and found their website with a menu (called to see if they would be open) and decided to give it a go. Upon entering the renovated old brick warehouse I was a little put off by the decor (I think they may have been in a transition phase), but we were there and hungry so we stayed. And let me say now that I'm so glad we did! There were very few patrons in the restaurant, but it was Easter so I don't know if that is the norm. The service was great and and we felt neither neglected nor coddled. We started our meal with a liter of the house Shiraz ($15). It was good, but I'm no wine connoisseur. We were also served freshly-baked french bread with whipped butter and a homemade tomato and garlic spread. I prefer my bread with nothing on it, but my boyfriend loved the spread. We each chose a steak for the main course. My meal cost $21.50 and my boyfriend's meal cost $20.95. Each main course also included soup, a choice of salad or shrimp cocktail, a choice of potatoes or pasta and dessert. The entire meal was served by course, which was very nice because we never had too many dishes on the table. First out was the soup of the day, a roasted red pepper cream soup served in a small cup. It was rich and creamy with the smokiness of a freshly roasted pepper; it was so good! Directly after the soup came the salad. The salad seemed to be a simple bagged mix (lettuce, carrots, cabbage) with purple onions and croutons added but they make their own salad dressings (Ranch, Citrus Poppy Seed, Roquefort, 1000 Island, Honey Mustard, Italian, Orange Ginger, Berry Vinaigrette or Caesar) in house so that made up for it a bit. I chose the honey mustard dressing and my boyfriend chose the Caesar. We both enjoyed our salads; the dressings were perfect and the croutons were delicious, but they lost points for the boring bagged salad mix. They weren't very big salads, but the whole meal was so big that any more would have been too much. Next came the main course. We chose steak, but they also offer chicken, seafood and pasta. I went with the Petite Filet Mignon (8 oz.), medium-rare. This steak was one of the best I have ever tasted. It came topped with fried shoestring onions. It was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. My boyfriend went with the New York Strip Steak (14 oz.), medium. He enjoyed his steak very much, but he isn't very descriptive by nature so that is all I can give you on that. I opted for a baked potato while he opted for a twice baked potato. (Other options included roasted red potatoes or pasta.) My potato was rubbed in salt and cracked pepper (and olive oil too, I think) and was served with sour cream and chives on the side. It was good, but I wish I would have chosen the roasted potatoes instead. The twice-baked potato was also good and had more flavor than the simple baked potato. As if we weren't stuffed already, dessert came next. We were offered a choice of vanilla ice cream (topped with caramel, chocolate, or both) or Spumoni. The ice cream is made by Wilcoxson's Ice Cream, which is a Montana company. I don't think I need to say it, but the ice cream was delicious. It was just one scoop, but plenty to finish off a huge meal. Not many places that I know include dessert in the meal price, so this was a nice surprise. Our total bill including a liter of wine and two full meals was $57.45 before tip. Considering what we got, I'd say this price was more than fair. (Although we live in the Los Angeles metro so we're accustomed to high prices.) I would definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner date. It felt quiet and cozy (despite the open floor plan and transitioning decor) and the food was magnificent.

The gals who run this place are extremely passionate about what they do. I rate it 5 out 5 based on what is available in the Butte area....Everytime I have eaten there the food was delicious, plated extremely well and the service prompt and polite. They are involved with the community and host fund raisers for non profit organizations. They are a very capable facility for any events they host. I have been pleasantly surprised more than once. It definitely is a family owned business with a splash of class. It is one of the finer establishments Butte has to offer. But don't take my word for it, try it for yourself....cheers.

only passing through town but restaurant was recommended by hotel clerk and boy, was she right. This place is amazing. I had the petite filet mignon. It was huge (I even checked the bill to see if they got my order wrong, NOPE, they had it correctly stated). Fabulous food, soup was amazing but the filet was out of this world. Wish I lived near Butte, I would absolutely recommend it. A little hard to find but worth it.

A really good restaurant with a fine wait staff who were competent and attentive. The filet was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Wonderful fresh cut French fries. The shrimp cocktail was soso but this is Butte, Mt not New Orleans. The steak more than made up for any short comings.

Very good meal here, got the 14oz New York strip and it was cooked perfectly. Roasted red potatoes were great too. Also enjoyed testing out a few local beers on tap. Located in an old warehouse with lots of old photos and decor on the walls, it's a great place to have a steak and some beer.
