I am astonished to see so few stars for Spec's. I've been kind of a regular for years, less recently since the upscale brewery opened next door. But I am a bit picky and happily give them four, if only because it is a serious bar and not the hoity-toity kind of establishment I currently prefer. you can tell the owner Joe gives a care because he retains employees for years. The service is consistently solid, even at peak crazy campus hours, and I really like the food, whether you want a burger or a healthier salad. Not gourmet, but really good. A mild place at lunch or late afternoon, but serious drunk student place later--but well managed all the same.

I like specs. They have good burgers, their waffle fries are amazing, and the dinner specials are hard to beat. One thing that deters from the place is the regulars that consistently flirt with the wait staff. Tonight while waiting for a beer the waitress/ bartender took a shot with some guys twice her age while I had been waiting several minutes for a refill. Guess that's OK for her as they will return but I will be less inclined.

This place is exactly what we were looking for- cold beer, great burgers and adorable staff! Great lunch-

Not only was the specs. Staff loudly deep cleaning the kitchen applances at 11 pm and later, but in the back parking lot where I and many others have puked. I may get a drink their but I am never eating their again that's sickening and disrespectful.

Save this place for a night of hard drinking. The atmosphere is great for boozing with your pals. Lots of tables and TVs. And the wait staff is super nice. Definitely do not waste your money on the food. Perhaps if you are totally hammered, it would be passable, but it's not worth it, even at the fairly decent prices/large portions. The burgers tasted off, the fish tasted like it had been in the freezer for several years after perhaps being left on the loading dock a bit too long, and the chicken tenders were 'meh' at best.

What a great sports bar. My wife and I were passing through and wanted a fun place that watch Monday Night Football. I had a club sandwich and my wife had the blue burger. Both were large and flavorful. Plenty of waffle fries. The server knew her beers and gave us good advice. Lots of atmosphere. Hope to return.

My favorite quality of a restaurant is when waitresses berate customers for not asking for condiments when ordering. I assumed that hot sauce was fairly standard, so forgive my lack of clairvoyance that there's an extra charge for it now.

The burgers rocked as did the price. The atmosphere is classic Montana sports bar. This should rate it a four or five for those reasons, but read on. I've always enjoyed stopping here for some grub. As a self-respecting Griz alumni, I chose this place over the Cat's Paw. Until today that is. Paying for advertising that promotes the Griz losing to Villanova in the Championship Game is not only in poor taste, it also reflects the management's ability to make good decisions. I'm not going to start heading to the Cat's Paw, but I will add Spectators to the short list of places to avoid.

Though classless, Specs is all-around a good place to drink (especially after a long day of classes). Caveat emptor: the beers are always a little skunky, the food a little bland (typical deep-fried bar food--burgers and uninspired pizzas). But the servers are attentive (and generally attractive, though I don't know what has to do with anything!), even on busy nights. I find myself at Specs every Monday night for $2 pint night. A couple of beers and a side of fries--and you're still out the door for under $10. Hard to beat! There are plenty of big screen televisions, and the pool table recently showed up again. It's the closest bar to campus. Specs isn't the best bar in Bozeman (by far), but it's certainly one of my favorites.

Specs is one of the greatest bars in Bozeman. Not only is it ON campus (pretty much), but the beer is cheap and cold, the food hot and delicious, and you can see any sporting event going on any of their multiple flat screens. Several of the commentators above wrote that it was classless that they took out an ad against the Griz. Well, let me remind you that you are in a bar in Bozeman, on the Bobcats' campus.... and let's not forget that any Griz fan would do the exact same thing (and have done) in Missoula. This review shouldn't be based on whether you're a 'Cats or Griz fan, but on the bar. My dad (who is an avid Griz fan) loves Specs because he can sit with me (a 'Cats' alum) and be greeted with jeers and cheers. It's one of the few bars in Bozeman where Griz fans are actually welcomed, and it's a great place to go after a long day of classes (or on a Game day!).

I am an absolute connoisseur of hamburgers, bacon, cheese, fries, et al. One might say that for me to reside in a town there needs to be an eating establishment that provides quality bacon cheeseburgers or I may have to move. Spectators Bar & Grill in Bozeman has a quality burger menu and a fair number of malted adult beverages on tap to match. They have a special on Tuesdays at which you can get a Big Ass Burger (1/2 lb) and a beer for around eight bucks. That's money well spent.

Lost my vote when they decided not to serve Montana microbeer in protest of brew pubs asking to extend hours

This is a classless joint. They took out an ad in the local paper supporting Villanova over a bunch of Montana kids in the National Championship. No self-respecting Montanan would support this place.

Perfect sports bar. Good selection of beers; great food; and even better service.
