Have been to this place a few times as work often brings me through beautiful Bozeman! The setting is cozy (exposed brick walls and such). The service is always friendly and accommodating. It's also in a super cute part of town (downtown?) on the main drag surrounded by shops, bars, and other restaurants! I always order the same thing: massuman curry with tofu. I love the spice, never too hot or too mild! The brown rice is always always cooked perfectly! Others I have been with have ordered the pad dishes plus other curries and everyone is always pleased! Will definitely keep coming here...good for date night or a get together with a group of friends!

The best thai food of the city! The food was amazing! I ate a curry Gaeng pad with side jasmine rice. The flavor was great! I recomend this restaurant!

This is good Thai food. Not my favorite throughout my entire life but, who knows what color happy memories have added to past experiences. I must explain the two most offensive complaints from reviewers: 1) Taiwan was colonized, missionized, invaded by foreign powers, whatever you want to call it, long before Europeans reached other Asian countries. They use forks and spoons. So no chopsticks. 2) Thai cuisine is based on balancing the four flavors. Changing a chef's recipe with Sriracha is like walking into a French restaurant and asking for salt. You're insulting the chef. So stop it. TL;DR - excellent food, a good Thai restaurant will give you neither chopsticks, nor Sriracha.

I have been in numerous times each time varying my order to try more items. Larb gai (lettuce wraps) very spicy and delicious, chicken satay (skewers with peanut sauce) seriously to die for... that sauce! I want to dip everything in it! Love the Tom Kha Gai soup with those yummy little toadstool mushrooms. Of course always go back to the Pad Thai. Everything is carefully made and presented when in-house... Beware of to-go orders! Sometimes you've just got to have takeout and that's what I did my last trip in. My Pad Thai did not travel well. It seemed to have congealed into one giant lump of noodles, which when trying to dig in, ripped into a thousand tiny noodle fragments. Curry and chicken satay made it just fine and were delish. Be careful what you order to-go! The noodles do not hold up.

The food is delicious. Everything is always made fresh. The only complaint I have (hence three stars) is they should definitely hire MORE waitresses or waiters. This place get pretty packed, and having just one person working the floor really doesn't cut it. Please hire another person, at least during the lunch hours.

I'm still a fan of this place. The food is usually flavorful and spicy. I've had the occasional disappointing dish, but this is the exception. A few lingering gripes though: - Their takeout has been painfully slow at times, going well beyond the estimated time when the order was placed. - They really ought to install some kind of curtain to stop the ARCTIC BLAST that will hit you if you're dining anywhere near the entrance in the colder months. - Would be great if they had wine or beer options.

The food here is pretty good don't get me wrong. However if you wish to be served in a some what decent time frame think again. Took about an hour+ after I placed my order after had waited 45 min to get a glass of water. The place had one other group of people in there who had already had their food and no one came in to pick up take out orders. If you want to get rice take it out it will be done on time and you will have food but by all means don't sit down to eat.

AWFUL service. The waitress was a dummy . She charged my card $138 instead of $38. When I pointed it out she proceeded to make me wait 15 minutes so she could go figure out how to refund it. Also, they don't have a liquor license. Mediocre food. Two thumbs down

My boyfriend and I came to Bozeman for his business meeting. I am Thai and I cannot go many without having Thai food. Based on my research from Yelp, Urbanspoon, and TripAdvisor, there are very limited options for Thai restaurants in this town - only two Thai restaurants - and this place was rated better than the other one, so I decided to order food from this restaurant. I ordered Pad Gra Pao with Chicken 5 star spicy and Red curry with tofu 5 star spicy. I paid $26 for my order, $12 for Pad Gra Pao and $14 for Red curry. I was very disappointed when I saw the food. It was the smallest portion of food I have ever gotten from any Thai restaurants I have been. I literally got half food for the same dish which I usually order from Thai restaurants in Seattle. The food tasted very average. Really not worth for what I paid. Most of the time, the reviews from Yelp, Urbanspoon, or TripAdvisor are pretty accurate, but not this time for sure. I'm not sure why so many people really like this place and rated it pretty well. My guess was that the to-go portion may probably be lesser than the portion they serve for dine-in customers. Also, with the only two options for Thai food in this town, people do not have any option to compare. My only compliment for this restaurant is the accuracy of spicy level - 5 star really tastes like 5 star, not 3 star like many Thai restaurants in the States.
(2)Jenny H.
3.5 stars came on a busy afternoon so the one server working was overwhelmed. still, she was friendly and, for the most part, on top of her game. ordered five courses starting with the summer rolls. these were okay in terms of spring rolls but the extra $2 for peanut sauce put a real damper on them. tom kha gai soup was sweet and creamy with a soft, sour finish. the larb gai was my favorite dish of the day. tangy, savory, and super flavorful but I would have appreciated more lettuce on the side. their pad thai was typical but on the oily side, and the mango in the mango sticky rice dessert was fragrant, ripe, and the perfect ending to the meal. i will definitely eat here again. it's less pretentious than Sweet Chili and has reasonable prices.

Excellent New addition to Downtown for Thai food. Excellent spice level.. Spicier than usual restaurant in town so far. Tried their Drunken noodles, chicken in green curry, chicken in red curry and with basil, soup and Ice tea. The portion is larger than other new Asian food place on the Main. The curries with basil are hot. They can make it hotter! Thai ice tea was good. Soup was very good. Decor is nice. Place is trying to be fine dining place with very little floorspace. Restrooms are shared by the building complex and are in the back corridors. Main door changes the temperature of nearby 3 tables by a lot in winter time. I wish they had some active hot air curtain or secondary wind screen to prevent diners from getting uncomfortable with every door action. Price is $$ - $$.5. Service is decent. Its just too small to be a really "fine dining" ambiance. But it is really awesome for a cute little very tasty thai food adventure. Forgot if they served wines and which if so. Definitely a very welcome addition to the BozoLand.

Wow, there are about 10 tables right next to the freezing wind when the door is open, and when we were there for lunch, there was one gal waiting tables. She was working her fanny off and not keeping up. We asked for water 3 times and finally just decided it wasn't going to happen. So we ate our food (decent food, small portions) quietly and departed. We won't be back. There are plenty of other good places with good service.
(1)Angela P.
The food was AMAZING! I had yellow curry and thai iced tea with boba and was in absolute heaven. My boyfriend had chicken with cashews and spring rolls. Everything was GREAT! The wait was long and the place was packed for a Friday night but it cleared out around 8 PM. Will be back!
(4)Joe H.
Good enough food but missing something. Had the tofu phad thai and it wasn't even spicy or that flavorful. The egg pancake was a bit better and came with a hot sauce. At least they did not have chopsticks. People: The Thai DO NOT USE CHOPSTICKS! Look under Serving: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Th… Service was great, food came quick. Not bad for Montana, I guess. The space is small and whenever anyone would open the door the cold would come right in... well it was 10 below outside so I can't really fault them for that. If it's cold out, sit near the back. I went alone but would consider returning with friends sometime if I'm in Bozeman. The service, space and location would make a nice starting off point for a pub crawl. I wouldn't mind trying some of their other selections. I'm from the Northwest so I have a glut of great Asian joints to chose from and am a bit spoiled.

Rolling through downtown Bozeman on my way to Yellowstone National Park, I found this little gem of a restaurant on the South Side of Main Street. It's tiny inside and parking is hard to come by. Outside of that, it's absolutely wonderful. Thai food at its finest... and spicy hot to the point of being painful if you order the right dish. Which is exactly what I did. The menu said spicy, the waitress warned me it was spicy and also mentioned the words "one of the hottest items on the menu". Unfortunately, I cannot recall what the dish was. It was located on the simple lunch menu and mentioned "spicy peppers" in the description. I took a photo and will upload it. The dish even 'looks' hot! One waitress working which was sufficient in such a small dining, eclectic dining room. Old, brick walls decorated appropriately with Thai styling and Nuevo-Modern tables and chairs. A nice mix of modern in an old building. The music pumped in was just the right volume of what you'd expect in an Oriental restaurant. The dish served to me came with a smallish type egg-roll with dipping sauce, white rice, salad and the entrée of vegetables and chicken. At first glance it appeared to be too much food but I managed to wolf it all down. Make sure to have plenty to drink and a lot of extra napkins as I was sweating, eyes were tearing, and nose was running throughout the meal. The waitress took appropriate pity on me and brought out a stack of paper towels and ice water about half way through my meal. I'm sure she had '911' dialed into her cell phone ready to press 'send' should I have taken a turn for the worse. Luckily that wasn't necessary. I survived the meal, used the rest room to mop up any leftover sweat on my brow, and returned to my trip. Absolutely outstanding food but be careful what you wish for. ...

I tried this place today and was pleasantly surprised! I would give them 4 1/2 stars if I could. A phenomenal Thai restaurant in Bozeman MT was sure not what I was expecting. My mom had been here a few times before and said I needed to try it. The inside is very clean and I was helped as soon as I walked in. The lunch specials are a really good deal. For $9 it is hard to beat the portion size anywhere. I had the Pad Khrao and my mom had the Pad Thai. Both plates were served with a big scoop of jasmine rice, a spring roll, and a small green salad. I had the Pad Khrao with pork and the pork was full of flavor. The mushrooms in it were cooked excellently. The dressing on the salad is an excellent Asian dressing. The spring roll was sooo good. Small but so perfectly crispy and tasty. The Pad Thai was just as good. I will definitely return next time I am in the area.
(4)Dustin R.
To keep this short and sweet; the food tasted fine but wasn't anything special. For a bill that was in the mid $20's, the portion sizes were very small. This place is fine if you're not really hungry - but if you need a decent meal I say go elsewhere.

An excellent evening was had at Rice with colleagues and friends. The food was delicious and the atmosphere inviting. I had the Massamun curry, which was a delight. I had to find a recipe afterwards to try my hand at it at home. The menu had a variety of dishes, and I have already marked a few that we'll have to return to try. I read the previous reviews before heading over, and thought I should clarify some things. One, most of the dishes do come with rice. Second, Thai food isn't eaten with chopsticks.
(4)Cindy S.
We thought this restaurant was super yummy. The black rice pudding was delicous. I ordered a dish with chicken and they brought me beef and said it was a mix up in the kitchen. No biggie, it was delicious!
(4)Katlyn G.
There are only a couple Thai places in Bozeman. We have gotten take out from here 3 times. The food tastes great and they have great service, there has never been more than two other sets of people dining when I've picked up food. The season I gave this place 3 stars is because the first time we came, we received a decent portion as I have learned to expect at most Thai places throughout the states. Each time we go back it has gotten smaller to this last point my boyfriend gave me a sad face cause his box was half full of pad thai and left him still hungry; which is a bummer considering the amount they charge. Guess we will be switching over to the bistro to see how things go over there.
(3)Nat L.
Let's begin with the positive. The food is good! It's quite tasty. The ambiance is nice. The service was totally fine. And here is what you've all been expecting: BUT it's not spicy. I wasn't even asked how many stars I wanted. I don't have to sweat with every meal, but I do like the option. They didn't even have sriracha on the table. They also don't have chopsticks. WTH!? I figured that the forks on the table were just for those who weren't used to chopsticks. Alas, when I asked for some they said, "We don't have any." Mind blown. Those things aside, the food is good, I will be back.
(3)James J.
Heard lots of good things about this place and finally got around to trying it out. Ordered the Pad Thai and a red curry and was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and service was attentive. As others have mentioned, they don't have any beer or wine there.

Shockingly, this is the most delicious Thai food I've ever eaten anywhere -- including California and southeast Asia. It's a small space, full by 6pm on a weeknight but there were several tables open by 7. Seems to be popular with Asian MSU students (I'm guessing) who appeared to be enjoying it immensely. The room is decorated tastefully, with restraint (no gold lamé elephants or dancing dolls,) and is spotlessly clean. Our party of four ordered three apps, four entrees, a side of "Thai-style fried egg" (like an egg foo yung pancake, but way better) and two desserts. Standouts were the "corn cakes" (fritters,) summer rolls, Penang curry, and sticky black rice pudding & homemade(?) coconut ice cream desserts -- but there wasn't a single dish that didn't make us go "wow." The chefs (from Thailand, we were told) aren't shy about using chili peppers but they know when to stop, so the amazing flavors still come through. Nothing was even remotely greasy, including the amazing corn fritters, and the house-made condiments were delightfully complex. Alcohol isn't available, which is a bummer because a cold Singha is about the only thing that could have gilded this particular lily. We all agreed, this is our new favorite restaurant in town.

Went in for lunch on a Saturday, so we didn't get the lunch specials, but it was well worth it anyway. The drunken noodles were very spicy, but absolutely amazing. My wife got the Pad Thai and that was also incredible. I would definitely go back during the week for lunch for the specials, but we'll worth the extra couple bucks if you're craving it.

Glad to find some Thai in Bozeman. Our original effort was to locate Indian food, but it appears the few places that have tried aren't around anymore. Very happy, as a vegetarian, that many dishes offered the tofu as an option without an up charge. We enjoyed Pad Thai and Pad See Ew, both with tofu. They were both very good. I think if they work on their value proposition, they'd really be outstanding. $12 per dish for the so-so portion discolored an otherwise pleasant experience. Oh yeah...first Thai place to not have Thai Chili-Garlic sauce available as a condiment. Sriracha and sweet chili sauce are not the same.
(3)Nick R.
Great Pad Thai. I have never really enjoyed Thai food before, but this place has changed my mind. My wife had the drunken noodles which were also amazing. The drunken noodles are a bit on the spicy side, which makes it difficult to eat it all really fast, but definitely not over the top spicy. All in all, a great experience.
(5)Merissa L.
Yum! I really enjoy the curries and the appetizers. Order a Thai iced tea and enjoy. Small seating area, hard to bring in a group of people.
(4)Penny K.
It's just this simple as this...went one day while visiting bozeman and it was so good we went back the very next day!
(4)William C.
On the positive, the food was good and the service was perfectly pleasant and attentive. The bad news is the ambiance- specifically the acoustics. This place is a concrete bunker and every noise from the kitchen and your neighbors conversation prevails through every bite of food. This is not hard to rectify, and I hope the owners/ managers change accordingly. First and foremost; turn off the hip-hop playing in the kitchen. Second, put some electrical tape or something around the ring of the dish sprayer- sounded like Rudolph the Reindeer was running around the kitchen all during the meal. Be consistent with your ambient music- a couple minutes it is on (masking kitchen noises) a couple minutes it is off (queue Rudolph and Eminem). And please, please, get something up that absorbs instead of reflects noise; curtains, rugs, acoustic tiles- something. A very good meal was ruined by not being able to have a conversation and having to listen to all of these other non-essential noises.
(3)Bill C.
No Chopsticks! Great Pad Thai, best in Bozeman for flavor and consistency in noodle.
(4)Laura S.
The ambiance and decor are elegant yet simple and the small space provides an intimate atmosphere but does not feel crowded. I had a curry, which was quite delicious. Since I am gluten free it was nice that they have a gf list to accomodate this common food sensitivity- I would even recommend just putting it on the menu next to the items that are gf so customers don't always have to ask (sometimes this gets annoying when going out to eat.) I didn't have any complaint about the portion size, and in fact think it is comparable with the other thai restaurants in town and out of town that I have been to- thai portions are generally smaller than normal american portions, but often fill you up faster due to the abundance of flavor and spice. The menu has some great traditional thai choices, including a few that are not available elsewhere in town, such as mee krob. I will definitely be back to try some of the dishes I missed, especially since they are very new and will ultimately work out any kinks that they have (although I didn't experience any). After living in Thailand it takes a lot for me to be happy with Thai food, and I have not been happy with my experiences at other thai restaurants in Bozeman, even after a few tries, so I am happy to see another option for great thai food that doesn't require driving to Big Sky!
(4)Lauren M.
Sweet Chili was my favorite Thai place in Bozeman until I ate here last week. Everything my friend and I had was to-die for! I'm pretty sure we were acting like hungry homeless people and wolfing down our food because we couldn't get that goodness in our mouths fast enough. I'm craving it just thinking about it! And let me dispel the portion myths. It seemed like any other place to me. Maybe a little smaller, but nothing to complain about. And I'm a stickler with price, but thought the prices here were fine ($12- $15 for dinner entree depending, cheaper than Sweet Chili I think). I had one of the soups, spring rolls and some sort of dish with beef (can't remember the names offhand). Everything was so fresh and delicious, authentic and flavorful. And spicy! Lord knows I love my spice :) My friend was in love over her food, too.
(5)Seth W.
I don't have a lot of experience with Thai food, but my family finds this place delightful and we have ordered from here several times over the last year and a half. The food is fresh, flavorful and ready fast. My six year old will often request it when given a choice of Bozeman's many restaurants. Another great meal last night sharing a green curry, pad Thai, and drunken noodles. The corn cake appetizer is great. One less star only because we avoid sit down meals there due to the small size of the place.
(4)Heywood J.
If you are looking for an alternative to Naked Noodle, give this place a try. Fast service, clean, and good food.
(4)sursara s.
Unlike other Thai places in town, (Lemongrass & Sweet Chili) the people at this restaurant seem generally bothered by dietary accommodations. If you are vegan or vegetarian, I recommend visiting Lemongrass or Sweet Chili. In addition to that, they charge for an extra scoop of rice, which is ironic, with a name like RICE. I was not impressed.
(2)Kim O.
Have eaten there five times now. Their food is NOT spicy...but is tasty. Their papaya salad is awesome. Their service though is flat horrible. The wait times are ridiculous. During the week they have one person waiting tables and I'm assuming one cook because there just can't be any other reason for such long waits.
(3)Julianna C.
I had lunch here while in Bozeman for work. It was good, wish there was a curry option on their lunch specials.
(3)Anshul V.
Don't miss this place if you like Thai cuisine. Awesome food. It's in downtown Bozeman. Nice and cozy place. The cooks were from Thailand and were on an exchange program to Montana State University. Real authentic Thai food.
(4)Rosanna Y. D.
Very, very good food. I have had several dishes here and have been very happy. Pad Thai is excellent, friend veggie roles are awesome as well. Love their jasmine tea. The staff is awesome and understated. The space is relaxing and beautiful. Excellent addition to the ethnic food scene in Bozeman.
(4)Joshua Q.
Good Thai food, especially for Montana. Probably the best I have had in a while. Pleasant staff and great service.
(4)Doug S.
Rice was recommended to us by a friend who travels to Thailand fairly regularly. Since our first visit we have been back a number of times and are in fact eating there again this evening. We really love the place! Not sure about the above complaint on portion size as we have never left without a go box of leftovers for lunch the next day. Great food, great service. Top notch!
(5)Cord S.
Best Thai food in town no question! My favorite dish is the Pad-Thai with black rice pudding. A bit more expensive but it translates into flavor and portions. I highly recommend Rice to any local or traveler!
(5)Rachel S.
My roommate and I went here on Saturday night around 7pm and while it was fairly busy (and tiny), it only took about 5 minutes for us to be seated. They don't have their liquor license so no alcoholic beverages. I'm not sure if it's BYOB or not. We both got the thai iced tea and it was amazing! Our waitress was very nice but our food did take quite a while. My roommate had the pad thai and I had the pad see-ew and we both enjoyed our meals. I definitely plan on going back.
(4)Ross F.
Great service. Pretty expensive for the portion, but the quality of the food was great. It was not just salty and flavorless like some other Thai places in town.
(4)Christine O.
Great Thai food, very authentic. I has pad Thai and pad see iw. Both were excellent. Appetizers wonton soup and springs excellent too.
(5)May S.
This weekend I ordered food to take out from Rice for the second time. The first time, my fiance and I were disappointed by the size of the meals we got, but enjoyed the level of spice. So feeling the need for spice we went back. This time portions sizes were great, as was the spice level. The dishes we got did not advertize on the menu that they were hot (perhaps they do in the real menu if you sit down?) but both the drunken noodles and green curry were very spicy. Fortunately we like it that way, but I know many who probably wouldn't have eaten them with them being so hot. But for us, it is a go, and go back we shall!
(4)Bill H.
Beautiful menu and attractive surrounds promised a fine experience but they didn't clear the bar. Mediocre at best; just plain poor overall. Will not be back.
(1)T M.
Rice was recommended to me by some friends, but I left very disappointed with the service and atmosphere. I love thai food and was very excited to try a new Bozeman restaurant. There are less than ten tables in entire restaurant, and they are arranged so that if anyone should open the front door, a draft (which on 15 degree winter nights is very uncomfortable) sweeps over all of its patrons. We noticed that a couple actually chose to sit at a table fit for eight, rather than sit at the more appropriate two top by the door. Our server, Rick, was slow, unattentive, and rude. A table sat down next to us ten minutes after we arrived (in another server's section) and managed to get their appetizer and entrees before we even received our soup appetizers. My companion did not care for his soup and set it aside after only a couple spoonfulls. The server offered to box it up, but he declined. My soup and pad thai were satisfactory, but not spectacular in flavor or portion. At the end of the meal, the server dropped off the check and my companion's soup hadn't been taken off the bill, despite the fact that he sent it back nearly untouched. I politely asked our server why the soup remained on the bill. He explained that it was impossible to remove items from our tab, that only a manager might have that power but that none was available. His attitude was extremely unhelpful and indifferent. I have never experienced a restaurant that wouldn't take care of you if something was sent back. Furthermore, it seems odd that there wouldn't be a manager present at all times, especially on a Thursday night. Service is a deal breaker for me; I will not be returning to this restaurant. It would be better to opt for one of the other thai restaurants in town, that understands the importance of customer loyalty and building relationships.

Delicious Food!! Horribly Slow Service!! If you're in a hurry, go elsewhere. If you have time to spare and are in search of a delicious, reasonably priced Thai meal, this is the spot. I'd give them 5 stars if the service wasn't the worst imaginable. My wife and I have been back for this delicious treat 4 times now, and always enjoy the great food. Each time we have been floored by how slow and inattentive the wait staff is. I guess the best things in life are worth waiting for..... Maybe
(4)Kari F.
My husband and I tried the chicken pad Thai and we were not impressed. The spices are not complementary and the noddles were dry. The chicken was pretty good, not very fatty at all. For the price, the quality is not there. The pictures make the portions look small but two people could share one plate. After barely eating our pad Thai we were ready for the mango sticky rice. At first we only ordered one but this portion is smaller than the picture. We loved every bit of two sticky rices. Service was okay. They never refilled our water and we had to tell him to take our plates when he served us the dessert. We won't come back for a meal but would definitely come back for dessert.
(2)Ryan C.
Yummers! Awesome place. Great service. Very few seats though.
(5)Carol O.
I don't know where to begin. I can tell you about many of their meals. I LOVE RICE!! Every meal is made fresh just for you. I always thought Thai food was just spicy but there are a lot of dishes that anybody can eat. But then there are plates that can make the toughest person cry! I could eat there every single day! This is a must try for everyone!
(5)Tom C.
Food is not that good and the service is even worse. Worst fresh rolls I've ever had; we couldn't even finish them. We ordered the red and green curry and they were pretty average. Prices seem high for what you get. They wanted to charge us $2.00 extra for peanut sauce for our fresh rolls. I've never had fresh rolls that didn't come with peanut sauce. I'm a huge thai food fan but this place misses the mark. So-so food, over priced, and horrible service.
(2)Liz S.
finally ventured to rice to try bozeman's few Thai selections. I was expecting to be disappointed honestly, because most Asian restaurants in bozeman aren't particularly awesome. but it was surprisingly good and it hit the spot. I'm from the Bay Area and have had my share of amazing Thai food and although Rice isn't as good as some places in the bay, it was still pretty damn good for montana standards. i tried the lard gai and chicken pad Thai and enjoyed both. the bummer is that we paid dinner prices for lunch. $12 per dish was a bit steep, but I would go back again!
(4)Jean C.
Service was great. Food was ok. Curry was pastey and one meal was so hot you couldn't eat it. No beer either.
