No words! Wow, fantastic food, huge cinnamon buns, no complaint. I had a ham and cheddar omelette and hash browns, there was lots of food, it was delicious and served fairly quickly Their attachment to the Best Western next door is a boon to the hotel as the complimentary breakfast you get is at this restaurant! Thanks!

We heard rave reviews about Stella's when we moved to Billings. Sorry to say, after three attempts at eating there, I still haven't had a good breakfast. The service was minimal, took quite a long time each time just to get coffee while waiting for a server to take our order. When our food did finally arrive, each time it was barely warm and the biscuits were cold. The flavors were bland and lacking in flavor. Very disappointing.

If you are looking for a heavier breakfast at a reasonable price that you can then grab a delicious cinnamon roll this is your spot! The cinnamon roll's frosting is so good it's a good thing we are just visiting and not a local as I would become a regular.
(4)Cynthia d.
Its an ok place to grab a bite if you don't want drive-thru. The hostesses aren't the friendliest but the servers make up for it. Cool little spot, nothing fancy.

Overall - not worth the hype. We were staying at the hotel next door, so came over on Saturday; there was half hour wait, and we had a wedding to go to, so just got a cinnamon roll (which was very good), and sausage roll which was ok. On Sunday, put in our name at 10, and after 1/2 hour wait, got our table at 10:30. That was fine, but then, our food didn't arrive until 11:45 -- 1 hour 15 minutes later. By then, the kids were, understandably, starving and impatient, and we were impatient, too, because we needed to check out of our room and get on the road. After an hour 10 minutes, they agreed to comp our bill. We appreciated that, but today, we would have much more preferred having the hour back. They blamed new kitchen staff; who knows. The food - just average breakfast food in my opinion. Portions are big, so may want to share, or get half portion, which is offered in certain items. Maybe it would have tasted better if we weren't so annoyed by the time we arrived. Not the Billings farewell breakfast we were hoping for.

Service is superb, got right in on a Saturday morning. Our waitress Monica is very sweet and thorough. Baked good look and taste fantastic. Coffee is marvelous.
(4)Jessica N.
Service was great, very attentive. We went In the afternoon, since that was when we were passing through, hoping to sample their giant cinnamon roll. Unfortunately the Giants were sold out. We had the regular sized rolls and while they were good, and I ate it all, they definitely would have been better and fresher in the morning. Lesson - If you're going to stop here for a roll, make sure it's in the morning so it will be nice and fresh.

Food was really good. 15 minute wait, I hear that's common so if your in a rush try to avoid it but worth the wait. Service was pretty good but the bus girl "April" kinda overstepped her boundaries. I asked if they served cocktails, thinking I could enjoy a mimosa and she gave me a blank stare and said "no hunny, rainbow is down the street" I thought that was so rude and I just couldn't let go of it the entire time we were there. I think I would even give it 5 stars if it weren't for her everything else was great.
(3)Arlene R.
One of the few things I miss about Billings! It has so much charm, and the food is really tasty! I usually get Sunnyside eggs, bacon, and hash browns with cheese. Always yummy and enjoyable! I also steal bites of my hubby's cinnamon roll (he can spare it! They're ginormous!), and they just melt in your mouth! When we do get to go, we ask to sit in Nicole's section. She is so friendly and wonderful, and works really hard. She goes beyond what's expected every time!
(5)Federico S.
just landed in billings with three options: mccormick, fieldhouse, stella... driving downtown looking for one of them. stella it is. very popular place, all happy smiles inside, large portions of food. i look at their famous pastry and, no no that s not my style, oversized white flour and sugar galore, anemic bakery. unsexy, no no. retreat to my table and decide to keep it simple. grits and poached eggs. grits with butter and cream can t complain, eggs not poached but baked, it s ok. tasted the lemon bar. waitress a darling.
(3)Ash R.
Their egg bread French toast is the best I've ever had and good enough that we always make it here when we're in town. Great corn beef hash -- crisp finish and very tender -- and the Stella surprise is awesome. One star off because service is spotty and totally dependent on the server in your section. When you get a good one, they're great, but a bad one will not just give you poor service, they will also make it abundantly clear that they hate you. Food is worth it though.
(4)Paul D.
Service was great and food was great! I save 5 stars for places that are exceptional but I'd definitely go back!
(4)Eddie S.
I was rolling through Billings with some friends on a road-trip from Yellowstone to Rapid City. Stopped by this place for lunch. Great place! Great food! Definitely would recommend this place for Breakfast or Lunch if anyone swings through Billings!
(5)Geoff H.
Went 2x in 1 weekend... Food is killer with great value, but service is bad to sub-par. Ordered different items each visit, both were solid. Must stop in!
(4)Dave D.
Really nice place. Clean and tidy and a great menu. Good service from the wait staff. On the downside, food only a little above average, and kitchen pretty slow, but won't stop me from going back when in Billings.
(3)Andrew A.
What a great spot very close to downtown hotels. Staff very friendly and attentive. Seating quick and comfortable. Hot coffee and ice water given within 1 minute of sitting down. Food was delicious and quick. Very large servings. Great first experience will be back
(5)Tiffany Y.
I like Stella's for the gluten free pancakes. The inside is a bit back to the '80s, and service is very slow, but those servers are hopping! Sometimes we get great service, sometimes not so great, but, hey, we only go to Stella's when we have the time. My husband and I love our breakfasts out together. It's like stolen time, and we don't do it often, but when we do, it is important to us that the whole experience is good. Stella's generally fits the bill. When we go to a new place for breakfast, our "go-to" is a corned beef hash - if they have it. Stella's has it, but their has is not something I like at all. The potatoes are like mashed potatoes, and I'm a texture girl, so the mash doesn't have nearly the awesome mouth feel as real, homemade hash browns or country potatoes. So, if you are downtown and want some down home cooking in a 1980's atmosphere, friendly servers most of the time, and likely the best gluten free pancakes (but are ok with LOTS of sugar and dairy), this is your place.
(3)R V.
Not very good place for breakfast! Had breakfast with a buddy, he had to send his biscuits and gravy back twice because it was cold. I ordered the corned beef hash, but got mostly potatoes with a smidgen corned beef. Can't recommended. Giving two stars because the scrambled eggs were good. The service was perfunctory.
(2)Michael K.
As a frequent traveller, and always on the hunt for great breakfast spots, I would say Stella's Kitchen is on my top 10 list. There is always a 10-15 minute wait during peak morning hours. While your waiting you can look at their fresh baked goods including their famous Cinnabon. Don't leave without one. Pancakes are the best I ever had. Eggs, omelettes, hash browns, coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, are perfect. Make sure you go hungry or better yet, don't eat the night before!
(5)Michael M.
Stella's is your classic mom and pop diner. Great food, reasonable prices. I just wish I had room for more. I got the biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage. Excellent! I can't wait for my next visit to billings, Montana!
(5)China G.
5 stars for the cinnamon rolls. Stella's is affordable and the bakery items are awesome.
(5)Brian G.
Great food -- service was pretty solid as well. They took care of me even as a visitor to Billings. The bakery is were the goods really are, but I didn't have the appetite for it after breakfast. It was pretty crowded when I arrived at 8:30 and had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated -- nothing for somebody from DC but I think some of the locals were a little surprised by that.
(4)Lyle H.
Why do simple eggs, bacon & hashbrowns taste better at Stella's than a any other place? I don't know but this is one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to. We purchased a loaf of banana bread that was not very good but I believe breakfast is what this place is all about. Service has always been fine and the coffee...ok. Great place for a getaway breakfast with your spouse.
(4)Greg S.
So, a dear friend of mine told me that there was this place in Billings, Montana, that serves the best pancakes in the west and that I had to find it. A little bit of sleuthing on Yelp quickly pointed towards Stella's Kitchen and Bakery downtown. I managed to find it easily and even got a parking space early this morning. A pleasant half-block walk got me there, and I was seated after just a very brief wait. I did order just one of the Monstercakes, and it lived up to its name. Wonderful buttermilk pancake, with a scrambled egg and some sausage was enough to more than fill me up. The service was good and the staff friendly.
(4)Häldi N.
Definitely worth the wait for a table. Family friendly and amazing food! Make sure to grab bakery yummies on your way out too!
(5)Samantha L.
Over-rated. Cinnamon roll was ok, nothing special, corned beef hash was tasteless. Guess you can't believe all the great reviews on yelp and tripadvisor.
(1)Bo C.
Are here while attending the BMW motorcycle rally. Service by holly was great. I would eat here again but my poached egg was too hard and my companion's hash mushy. Coffee was good and cinnamon rolls are very good. Perhaps an off day for the kitchen.
(4)R S.
Stella's came up on a search for vegetarian restaurants. There is 4 pages of menu. It took me a while, but I did indeed find one vegetarian item.: an avocado sandwich. Disappointed, I left.
(1)Sara H.
PIE PIE PIE Had them make 45 pies for my wedding, the guests LOVED them. strawberry rhubarb - to die for. Highly recommend for breakfast too.
(5)Freddy and Danie N.
Our group was very impressed with our breakfast here - wish we tried it earlier in our trip so we could return! Gluten free pancakes!!!- some of the best pancakes I have ever had, and I usually don't even eat gluten free! I'm still craving them! Other breakfast items are what you would expect for standard good, hearty breakfast food :) Large portions!
(5)Bob M.
ok they did list up to some of the hype for breakfast, now I had the biscuits and gravy, my wife had the ham 2 eggs, good portions to price. I use biscuits and gravy as a way to grade. Now first no place is going to make everyone happy, and some are critical, either by having their nose to high, or they have taste buds that are not in tune with the cook. with that said here is my feeling on breakfast gravy, if you were born in the south and your taste buds, think flour and milk blonde rue is a gravy, its not its the makings of wall paper paste, If your thinking health and do the above rue and cook your sausage in another pan and then mix it in and add pepper, yes its healthier but not ass kicking, and thats what I was served. What makes me some gravy expert, 4 first places and 2 second places in the breakfast category in 8 championships I have been in. Chop a combination of a sage sausage and a mild italian sausage and several strips of bacon, fry together, drain 1/4 the fat off, in the same pan put 1/4 cup flour and mix it with the fat and meat and keep moving it around, you want to cook out the flour flavor and it will get a light nutty taste, stir in 3 cups milk or half water half milk and 2 table spoons pepper, and a table spoon of Worcestershire, and keep moving while it thickens, matters to taste if you like a thick or thinner gravy, so in a small cup 2 table spoons of flour and milk stir it to a cream and add it slowly let thicken you can add more if needed. The flavors are from your pan frying the meat, it makes all the difference from an ok nice try gravy, and one that has flavor, and always team it up with a flaky butter milk biscuit, Stellas biscuits were excellent. As I travel I do land on those great little breakfast places, stella's is very good and worth your time, but for breakfast gravy, chef call me willing to share the secret Bob
(4)Carol D.
What a delightful place. It is small but the food was good nice presentation fresh baked bread ,cookies, and yummy cinnamon rolls. Our lunch was plentiful and well priced. I would definitely recommend this diner you will not be disappointed.
(5)Jocelyn E.
Inside is small but clean. Servers are not always in the best mood or fast. The food though...that's a different story! I will always love going there for breakfast!! So delicious and great prices!
(5)Dorphil B.
Not impressed at all. HUGE line, waited an hour to be seated - and I was by myself! That's not a large party to seat. It was so crowded with people waiting shoulder to shoulder that I sat and waited on their dirty, skinny stairs in the back room. The service was fine but the food wasn't anything special and just really was not worth the wait by any means. I don't get the big praise for this place! The highly acclaimed cinnamon roll was very average in taste. I'm traveling through again this weekend with a large family and staying at a hotel that does not serve breakfast. We will NOT be eating here.
(1)Taylor H.
Stella's had great food, and great service. I've never had someone check to see if my coffee was empty that often, it was great. We were passing through Billings on our way to Canada and found this little place right next to our hotel. Locals told us it was the only place they would recommend for breakfast. Try the cinnamon roll breakfast!! Marble rye toast is also delicious.
(5)Charlotte M.
Can't beat this place. All good I have ordered has always been so good. People are always nice.
(5)Jonathan R.
I live on the road and food is about all I get excited about, quite literally. Stella's is remarkable. I did try the other top-rated breakfast place/a in town (mccormicks and others, too) and they are crude in comparison. I recommend the Spanish omelette with the blueberry-wheat cakes. The bakery items are too sweet for me. If only others could cook like they do at Stella's. Ignore the ridiculous 10 minute parking signs on weekends--invalidated.
(4)Patrick S.
Decent breakfast food. I had the Fiery omelette and thought it was a bit bland (and not spicey), but basically good quality. The place is clean and attractive to tourists staying nearby. I would personally visit other places for breakfast before coming back, but this is a safe bet.
(3)Traci P.
Food was delicious (as usual) but service was incredibly slow. Took about an hour to receive our orders (Stella's Surprise, French toast and kids' chicken strips). By this time, my toddler-age daughter was definitely ready to go, but still took another 20 minutes to get a check. We then had to go to the counter and stand in line to pay. We waited again about 10 minutes ... just when it was FINALLY time for us to pay, the clerk said she needed to go check on a to-go order and left us again for a few minutes. As I said, the food was great, but not worth the long wait and slow service ... especially when dining with young kids.
(2)Serena S.
Stella's was already packed by 8:00am on a Sunday morning. That being said, we were seated immediately, and the service was very prompt and friendly. They really know what they're doing. Constant coffee refills, a great selection of breakfast item, and the impeccable service made our brief time in Billings, MT a pleasant and easy one.
(4)Amy N.
Was so happy to see this nearby the hotel, as it received raving reviews. The portions were huge, and the food was yummy. You could buy the cinnamon roll at the front when leaving so that you could have it later. I highly recommend getting one!
(4)Ray S.
It's epic. It really doesn't matter what you order because you truly cannot go wrong. I'm a student and when my family comes to town that's where they want to go XD and I don't blame them. Bring an appetite, of course that is a given, why would you eat if you're not hungry right?
(5)Donna D.
Great breakfast! Another outstanding find!~
(5)Raven L.
I've been to this restaurant several times and it's always very slow, but worth it. I arrived and was seated within 4 minutes. I waited for my friend to arrive and was told 3 times by the waitress that it would be quite awhile before she can talk to us. So for 20 minutes we didn't have a drink order in, fine. It took 45 minutes to get our order taken. I then took a drink from my "fresh squeezed" orange juice and was given the excellent surprise of a piece of cheddar cheese in my mouth. I asked a manager to come over, which I also believe to be the owner. I told her it's unacceptable that I waited almost an hour to even have my order taken when people who arrived after me had gotten their meals already and then to have cheese in my drink is absolutely disgusting. Her response was "oh that's interesting." So I told her to cancel my order and I alone left the table. I work in the restaurant/ service industry and can't believe the horrible service today not to mention the fact that their owner didn't care one bit. I will never eat at that restaurant again and I will no longer recommend them to any of our customers asking for breakfast places. I suggest they get it together.

"And Sweetie, would you like French Fries, Potato Salad, Cole Slow, Potato Chips or Fruit Salad with your club sandwich?" Unfortunately Lyndon, an imported Ballerino from China, doesn't speak much English and doesn't have a clue what these foods are by name. Me and the other ballerinas, and Lori the Waitress, whom was kind and very patient, futilely tried to describe them to Lyndon. Epic Fail! We gave up and just told Lori the Waitress to bring out french fries for poor Lyndon. Lori was hesistant, but obliged our request. 5 Minutes later, Lori the Waitress comes back...but this time with a plate containing 1 french fry, 1 potato chip, and a spoonful each of cole slaw, potato salad, and fruit salad(see photo). "Now sweetie, which one would you like?" Loris said with a warm genuine smile. Lyndon's eyes lit up like a little boy whom just found his dad's Playboy collection, and then excitedly pointed to the potato chip for his side. Who goes out of their way to do that these days? In my book, Lori sets a new paradigm in customer service...BRAVO!!! :D Unfortunately Lyndon isn't quite accustomed to American tipping customs and only left a dollar and some loose change for Lori...so the rest of us chipped left a couple extra bucks for Lori... ;-) Stella's is probably the best breakfast one can get in downtown Billings. Everything is delish and reasonablly priced. I don't know why anyone would come visit Billings MT, but if you do, eat here and pray that Lori is your waitress!
(5)John G.
The wait is way too long for the quality of the food. In addition, they overlooked our party and seated others that had come in after us. I might go back again, but not soon.
(2)Naota N.
Good place to stop by on road trip. Nice Montana place.
(4)Eric L.
After many years of Skipping Stella's because of the long wait, we finally made it in. Tip: arrive early to miss the line. Even with the wait, it's probably worth it. The legendary cinnamon roles are quite impressive. We split one with a table of 6 and there was plenty. If you are concerned with calories, the 3 tablespoons of butter might be a bit much. We weren't concerned and they were perfect. I tried the eggs Benedict. I think they are a great test if standard versus outstanding fare these definitely stood apart. The muffins appeared house-made and were excellent. The ham was sweet and thin sliced. The sauce and eggs were perfect. Not an unusual preparation, just excellent execution. The staff was friendly and fairly attentive. We had no complaints on the service. The orange juice is fresh squeezed with a cool juicer machine, but the coffee seemed typical for a diner and didn't stand out. Not bad, but not worth the trip if that's all you want.
(4)B S.
Fantastic breakfast, if in this area don't miss it! Great service, good value, excellent! Not a discouraging word to post! This place has got it all! Will be taking a goody with us for the road also.....yummmm!
(5)Tiffany M.
This place is friendly, not just the staff but you can find yourself in an enjoyable conversation with another customer too. The food is really good. The gluten free pancakes, stellas surprise, two egg breakfast; it is all great but my favorite is the eggs benedict! It gets very busy on weekends so expect a wait :)
(5)Kenzie G.
First time at Stella's and we waited about 45 minutes to be seated but man was it worth it! Our waitress was very sweet and the French toast was the best I've ever had! I would totally go back again.. Oh and the cinnamon roll was just absolutely delicious! Definitely give this place a try...you won't regret it!
(5)Priscilla L.
Stella's was great! Came for breakfast, place was packed; short wait for two! Coffee wasn't amazing but w creamer & sugar it was fine. Biscuits & gravy (both homemade) were to die for. Bacon was delicious! Hash-browns were great! Eggs were fluffy & light. Massive cinnamon rolls. Overall great experience, food was good and fast. Good service.
(5)Jay W.
Being on the road, it's always a challenge to find a really good breakfast spot. Most will give you bad indigestion from the greasy food or the food itself is just terrible. Stella's is none of the above. Great service from the moment I stepped in the door. Go there hungry because your going to want everything on the menu. Oh yeah, almost forgot. You can smell the yummy baked goods from a block away. Follow your nose to a delightful morning. Thank you Ashely and Lori.
(5)Erin O.
This seemed like a must-visit in Billings, shortly after we moved here. It has a very home cooked feel and taste. A woman, whom I presumed to be the owner was hostess and seemed very charming. The cinnamon rolls were absolutely to die for - and huge. The rest of our food was also very good, average breakfast food. There was nothing catchy about it or super creative.. Just hearty dishes with normal breakfast, but all executed well. They would have earned an extra star from me if they had better service. It was slow... And a bit impersonal.
(3)Matthew C.
Good food, good service and the bakery looked amazing. The worst part about this place is parking. Stella's kitchen reminds of a small cafe I went to as a kid, except this isn't small. The prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were great.
(4)Ana B.
This place was great for breakfast for a couple of travelers just passing though (thanks for the reco, Yelpers!). We got a cinnamon roll to start with, and it was sooooo good! I don't know why it comes with butter on top though, it's perfect as is with their gooey frosting. The coffee was perfectly done as well, and our server was so sweet- she also always made sure my cup was full with made me very happy. Their scrambled eggs were over cooked, but that was really the only negative. They also offer things like their pancakes and cinnamon rolls in wheat options, which is awesome. I hope to be in Billings again so I can grab some of those amazing looking baked goods next time!
(4)Crystal T.
This is by far my favorite place in Billings. Always have good service and food is consistently great. Fantastic selection of baked goods. Freshly made juices. The gluten free pancakes are my favorite. Come here if you want an awesome breakfast.
(5)Mary W.
Our breakfast was very good. We each had an omelette with different fillings. Great choice of healthy breads for toast. I'm a tea drinker and they served a proper tea - not a little hot water in a small cup but a nice large pot with a good choice of teas. Would definitely return here if in the area again. The staff was very nice and they also have a small bakery in front with excellent pastries.
(4)Victoria R.
We had a basic breakfast here (eggs, hash browns, pancakes). The pancakes were huge! Our server was VERY friendly and the breakfast was great. I'm sure there are a lot more options on the lunch menu too.
(4)Jay F.
5 full stars because this is everything a small-town diner is supposed to be. The waitresses have funny looking hair, husky voices, call you "honey" Stella knows how to make her baked goods too. It's not a greasy-spoon, it's a true American diner. The food, attitude and vibe all show it. I've been going here once a week for 3 years now because I meet some guys regularly for breakfast and this place is it.
(5)John S.
While in Billings for a job interview, resolved to hit Stella's for breakfast as it appeared to be the cream of the local, independent joints. Saturday morning at 10am the lobby was full and people waiting on benches outside, so returned right at 7am on Sunday, just as they opened. Even then, I was one of a half-dozen waiting outside for the door to be unlocked (good sign!) The decor is a little kitschy and down-home. Word to the wise, take a table in the back, not up front, unless you want your entire breakfast to be accompanied by the waitresses congregating around the front bakery case and loudly kvetching about their schedules, romances, medical issues, etc. I ordered a wheat pancake, denver omelette and side of bacon, and it was out extraordinarily quickly...fast food quick! The pancake was enormous, as advertised, but left me wishing I had chosen the buttermilk variety. Not quite as light and fluffy as one hopes for in a pancake, especially one of this plate-overflowing size. It was served with a huge dollop of butter and a substantial pitcher of syrup...not left wanting for either! The bacon was a touch crispier than I prefer, but firm and not greasy and just the right balance of salty and meaty. I suspect most people would love it just the way it is. The omelette tasted fine, but the ingredients were not integrated into the egg at all, which led to them continuously spilling out onto the plate and having to scoop some egg, then separately some ham, pepper, etc. in order to get all the flavors in one bite. Once you got everything corralled, it was yummy. The cheese did need just a bit more heat, as it was still solid enough to be terribly stringy and required some knife work to separate your forkful from the remaining omelet. Overall, I would absolutely return to keep working through what looks like a tasty, if not terribly diverse, menu. The standards are all there, but there is not much innovative or original. I do wish I had saved room for one of the cinnamon rolls...judging by the bakery display, they looked really, really good. Picture of my meal below. s3-media3.px.yelpcdn.com…
(3)Tammy S.
Ok. Knew there would be a wait for seating on a Sunday for breakfast. Half hour to get seated. But over 1 hour to get our food! Over priced for 2 sides of bacon. Menu lists it by the 'slice'. Who orders a side of bacon by the slice?! Food was ok but not worth the wait.
(2)Katie L.
Really, really bad for your waistline but really, really good for your taste buds! Good food, friendly service and amazing baked goods. The homemade strawberry scone was delicious!
(4)Joyce F.
The most yummy cinnamon rolls to be found! Tasted like my Mother's used to taste! Only problem is that it is so good there is most always a wait time!! Worth the wait though.
(4)Al S.
I've have brekie and lunch there, good diner food. Fair prices good service.
(4)Rick S.
You can order anything on the menu and you will be very happy. You will not leave hungry because the potions are huge. You will also not leave broke because the prices are very fair. Enjoy Stella's !!!
(5)rhonda b.
Stella's was recommended from the Vistor's Center - and it was great! The soup was unbelievable! Bowls, not cups, full of flavor - and large pieces of chicken and noodles - chicken noodle, and beans with beef - chili. What a great way to start a meal! We also had a turkey melt with a good portion of turkey, a nice slice of melted cheese and the best bacon ever eaten! What a great sandwich! The other sandwich was a French Dip - generous portion of the best beef in the US nestled in a homemade bun that was so delicious! The au jus was fine, and the sandwich was the best I had! The turkey melt was the special, and came with a dessert. We chose coconut creme pie, and it was creamy, sweet and delicious. Great lunch! The service was not the best - the waitress was a bit slow and made excuses for her lack of attention. When it gets busy just means you have to work a bit faster - not tell everyone how overworked you are. Especially when your customers sit next to your sister...who seems to get special attention while your other customers don't so much! Stella's is a bakery too, and we bought a loaf of pumpkin-cranberry bread - delicious! Also to take home we chose a loaf of cheddar herb bread. It was also delicious and made the best sandwiches! Stella's is a great place for lunch and also treats to take home. Great prices, but most important - GREAT flavors!
(4)John K.
This place seemed like it would be a nice 'hometown' diner, but it isn't. It took about 10 minutes for a server to come and take our drink order. After she did show up our service was fine for the rest of lunch....not good, but not bad. I went with two other people and we all ordered different things but we all agreed. Food was bland and tasteless. The food wasn't bad, it just had no flavor. It was not a great value either, $8 to 10 for a burger or sandwich. I seriously can't figure out how this place gets such positive reviews.
(2)Fidel P.
Free coffee when you wait. Try anything, you wont be disappointed!
(5)Pootums P.
Most amazing cinnamon buns ever!!! As big as your head! This place should be on Diners, Drive ins and Dives.
(5)Valerie K.
I went here for a quick breakfast and should have planned in a little more time for a wait on Friday morning). There were tons of people, but the line went pretty fast (15 min wait). I had the french toast and bacon and both were REALLY good. I also bought a HUGE cinnamon roll to take home to my kids. Reasonably pried, typical diner atrmosphere. I would definitely go back for a more leisurely breakfast.
(4)Francisco M.
One of my favorite breakfast place of all time - and I've lived in DC and Seattle. Be warned the service is a bit slow and it can become frustratingly so when it gets busy (and wow does it get busy). Just the same, I've always found the wait to be worth it. Everything I've tried on the menu has been rockin'. The pancakes, gluten free pancakes, omelets, french toast...I would order every single thing I've eaten here again. The coffee is just so-so...which is why I recommend a trip to City Brew before or after (there's also a Starbucks of the Crowne Plaza down the street). Unbelievable quality for what you pay (but it'll take a while).

My god. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. The food was incredibly fresh and reasonably priced. We were here for breakfast during the week and the place was packed. If it weren't in the middle of the country, I'd be there regularly.....we found this place on a cross country trip.

A very very good breakfast place. Quality food, properly cooked...very clean.

First, the outstanding bacon with just the right crisp, salt, and flavor, amazingly without any grease. I don't know how they do it, but it is really delicious bacon. Likewise, the scrambled eggs, hash browns, sourdough toast, and coffee were very good. No complaints with this breakfast. Went back for lunch on my business trip to Billings, and had the roast beef melt with fries and cole slaw. The roast beef was delicious, as was the sour dough roll. This is how they can improve - not that they need to, but if they wanted to, here are my recommendations: 1. the french fries were just okay, maybe too many, maybe need some seasoning - that's it - some spice would be nice. 2. the cole slaw was too basic, just cabbage, carrots, a little salad dressing - really needs some flavor; they don't have to go crazy and add a ton of sugar like KFC, but a little seasoning, salt, pepper, just a little sugar maybe - I don't know, it needs some more flavor

Absolutely my favorite place for breakfast in Billings. I've been going here for decades! The "new" location is much larger than the old one. You could pretty much guarantee at least a 20 minute wait back then. Now, you might have to wait 5 minutes. And trust me, it's worth the wait! It's interesting how many reviewers are afraid of the neighborhood. Really? You must live a sheltered life. I've never felt uncomfortable around Stella's. The area isn't bad at all. Through the years, I've tried many different things on the menu, and I've never been disappointed. The french toast is amazing, pancakes are stick-to-your-ribs good. But hands down, my favorite thing there is the Stella's Surprise. Hash browns, ham, veggies, cheese, eggs and salsa all in a heaping pile?? Yes please!!! Go for breakfast, and pick up a loaf (or 6) of bread on your way out.

Waited to be seated when others who arrived after started getting seated asked and was told oh we called your name 3 minutes ago. Gave benefit of doubt and waited. Was seated and waitress did not bring drink. We waited several minutes again seeing others get food who ordered after, when we asked waitress gave attitude and then finally came out with food. I had biscuits and gravy, with a plate being put in my food and NO replacement. The food was cold and I agree with others the food was bland. We also ordered an omelet without mushrooms glad the kiddo wasn't allergic because there was a pile of mushrooms. I try not to give bad reviews but this a place I would NEVER eat at again and would recommend NOT to eat, find a better place.

You're traveling for business and you're not sure if you're going to get to eat between breakfast and...lord knows. So you best fill up now. The place you go? Stella's. I patronized Stella's thrice whilst staying in Billings for business. I got the buttermilk pancakes (Pancake. They're huge. Don't order more than one unless your stomach is yelling: "Challenge ACCEPTED!") with a side of bacon each time. I know, I know. You're supposed to try different things when you eat someplace new. However, the pancakes were so amazingly great (not eggy, light, sweet--but not too sweet--savory, etc.) that I had to keep ordering them. The bacon was also nicely crisp (soggy bacon really chaps my hide...as a local might say). The OJ is also freshly squeezed (you can watch them do it with the machine--cool! Breakfast meets science for the win! Downside to Stella's? The atmosphere is equivalent to the lovechild of Perkins and Country Kitchen--it had some old-school rural cafe charm, but also a weird turn-it-out genericness. It's a paper-napkin and bent-tines-fork place. Perhaps this makes it cozy. Oh. Also. The maple syrup isn't REAL maple syrup. No where has that nowadays, so it isn't exactly a knock--just something to note. It teeters on a 3-to-4 stars, but considering the other options around town (slim and slimmer) it's really the place to go.

I'm pretty confused about the references to this being in a shady area of town, since I have only been here for a week and haven't noticed where the sketchy area begins and ends. I had no problem leaving my car on the street and I certainly didn't sprint into the restaurant for fear of being mugged. Anyway... Stella's, you amaze me. First of all, be prepared to pay only in cash. Or utilize the atm and pay the fantabulous atm fee. Second, come HUNGRY. They give you an insane amount of food even if you just order the 2 Eggs Breakfast, which I did. My boyfriend had their Country Omelette, and it was HUGE. He is a big guy (big appetite anyway) and couldn't finish the whole thing. Maybe that's because they give everyone have a sheetcake sized slice of hashbrowns, which are fantastic. I saw an order of pancakes go by and my jaw nearly hit the floor. Who can eat more than one pancake the size of a large frisbee? Well, if you can eat four you get a free cinnamon roll. Good luck to ya! Bottom line is, you're going to pay +$10 a plate if you get the right stuff. Their service is down-home and sweet, in my experience, and very polite and speedy. You get a lot of food, with it's fair share of butter, carbs and calories, but hey we need those sometimes don't we? I generally eat healthy, but I will absolutely make an acception to go to Stella's once in a while. Or a week. We'll see how I do living here...

What a lovely little place this is! Stella's is above all else, a bakery with great breads, pies, cookies, etc. The restaurant is also very good, at least for breakfast. House-made breads are served with giant omelets and golden, crispy hash browns. Well worth the visit!

Excellent - and very large! - breakfast meals. Bring your appetite!

First of all, I dunno where all the husky-voiced old timer staff were that others have mentioned... hostess was an attractive young lady, as was our waitress and most other waitresses we saw. Definitely does not qualify as a "how ya doin, hon?!" place a la numerous places back home in and around Baltimore! Wife and I had breakfast at Stella's, where everything was B-I-G big-- the bacon slices, the hashbrowns, the sausage patties, and the oft-mentioned humungo pancakes (we did not have the latter). Overall the food was very good but a tad short of excellent. Bacon was super tasty in crispy parts, but a bit rubbery in other parts. My eggs were done right, and the mound of hashbrowns were particularly good on their crispier exterior. Wifey's granola was tasty but super sweet. Worse part of the meal was the weak coffee, but they get points for bringing a whole container of hot water for tea orders. Our waitress was smily and effective, and prices were fine. Would stop by again if ever visiting Billings again. On our way out we got some cherry streudel to have later in the day in place of lunch, passing on the gargantuan cinnamon rolls. It was quite yummy!

The best fresh orange juice hands down and I have had plenty of fresh squeeze but this was amazing! Also great pancakes, loved them! Did not try the coffee because of reviews I read, but the orange juice was perfect would have hate to ruin it with coffee.

This is one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots. Not just in Billings either ;) The prices here are reasonable, the service is great, and the breakfast food is really good. I could eat here every day. The homemade bakery items (HELLO cinnamon rolls) are fantastic, the french toast is perfect, and the low-fat Stella's surprise is a tasty option if you're trying to eat healthy. There is something for everyone here.

I ate at Stella's on a Sunday morning. There were 4 in our party, including 2 kids. We had to wait to be seated, but it was well worth it! We ate the prior day at IHOP and Stella's was WAY better food at a much better price! We all enjoyed our food and the service was great. (it was busy, but we still got good service.) I had some of the best french toast I have ever had and my friend's omelet was excellent too!) You should certainly take a cinnamon roll with you for the 'road' if you don't save room for one. They are excellent.

I really hope the owner or manager reads this! My boyfriend and friends also LOVED going to stella's....the food there is actually pretty great (and they have the best coffee you can get at a full service restaurant in Billings). HOWEVER! The first time I ever went there we sat out on the patio and enjoyed beautiful summer weather. It was perfect being able to enjoy great food outside in the sun and breeze. So whenever we wanted great breakfast and it was beautiful outside we would head to Stella's. EVERY TIME we went there for the remainder of the summer, the patio was "closed," and every time it was for a slightly different reason: "It rained earlier." in fact it did, at about 6am, and by this time it was 10:45 and hadn't rained since! not a drop of precipitation to be seen. "it might rain later." Ok fine but it isn't raining now and there are no clouds yet, let me sit outside and enjoy it while I can! "if I let you sit there, then others will want to sit out there." Don't see a problem with this...ppl sitting outside are the same time and effort you need to put in to a table of ppl sitting inside - and they may tip more because they are happier! "It doesn't get warm enough until after lunch." Really well I checked and it was 74 and full of sunshine...that's why *I came here!* From a managerial standpoint, you really should offer the best experience you can. They have a beautiful patio and customers DO go there to enjoy it! Not a single one of those times was there a valid excuse for not letting customer's enjoy their meal outdoors. That's all :)

This is located across the street from the Bus station and right next to a hotel. So I expected a "Denny's" experience. The food was tasteless. I had the Eggs Benedict and the sauce was just awful. Beyond that I found a hair in the sauce and I also got the check half way through the meal. The hair is never good and getting the check early made me feel like they just wanted me to leave. Two stars because I may go back however I will know what I am walking into the coffee was descent.
(2)Carol M.
The staff is just rude or in some cases on a permanent break. Other than the bake goods it is just Perkins on a local level...plus you have all the excitement of parking by the greyhound bus station. Definitely nothing to brag about And....if you want to sit on the deck...even if there are tables...NO Walking past an individual playing a violin...and requesting tips; did not create a positive impression

Best breakfast in Billings..... Making it even more special, the company is fabulous. Here for breakfast with our Katie and my hubby, Rick.
(5)Lesli B.
I want to love this place, I really, really do! And I'll even go so far as to say that I like it but not love. The wait for breakfast is INSANE and they won't take resarvations, even for major holidays! The food is good, not great and portion are huge and pretty reasonable. The service is always a little spotty, usually due to the amount of people they manage to smash in there. The one major redeeming factor though is their bakery, cinnamon and carmel rolls are to die for!
(3)Roberto P.
Warm welcoming. I had the avocado burger, it was ok
(3)Jay M.
You really want Stella's to be better than it is. It has a lot of potential. Most items are right off the Sysco truck. The baked stuff, including the cinnamon rolls are so-so. Totally unimpressed, however, I'm clearly in the minority. The place is packed for breakfast.

Good food, great service. Home made goodness

My husband & I went there because we were staying at the Best Western next door and they said that's where our free breakfast would be. Free not so much. What confusion. When we put our name down for a table I specifically asked about the "free" breakfast that comes with being a guest at the hotel. I was told to just let the waitress know. Big mistake, huge. We did, but at the end of the meal, which was not so good, she brought my husbands order of grits awhile before the meal and it was already cold, yuk! Then after waiting almost a half an hour we received our food and yes it was cold, yuk again. Who likes cold unflavored french toast and eggs and with no toast. She blamed that on the cook team. During the ENTIRE time we had to ask other staff members if we could get refills on coffee. Our waitress LORI not once came back to the table to see if we needed coffee, NOTHING until she brought us the check. Then she said we didn't order off the "special" menu and it was oh well your fault not mine. Really! We only went back the next day because we had already paid for breakfast in our room price and we were sure to have the 'special" menu to choose from and asked not to be seated in her section. The food is average. The service is terrible if you get into Lori's section. We even watched her drop food on someone and forget another persons toast....

I ate here because I had a free breakfast from my hotel. The free breakfast menu was limited but still incredible. The oj was freshly squeezed and the pancakes were some of the best I've eaten. It was so good, I had to squeeze in another breakfast before I had to fly out. I ordered Stella's surprise and a slice of French toast. The Stella's surprise is certainly large enough for two people but I measure a breakfast place by its french toast - so I had to try it. The egg on the French toast was not perfectly cooked but had a good taste. The surprise was really good. This is a great place for breakfast and I will definitely return if I ever make it back to Billings - I would order the pancakes or Stella's surprise. There are long lines during the weekends so go early or be prepared to wait.
(4)ELIZABETH D.
Wow, everyone in my group including myself must have ordered the wrong dishes! All four of us did not understand the hype. I will say though, none of us ordered baked goods. Hashbrowns cold, biscuts and gravy cold, breakfast burrito, blah. Not a fan. LOTS of people like this place, it is very busy.
(2)Nick P.
Amazing food all around. The french toast was made from fresh house bread, sliced thick, with a rich soft center. Menu contains several vegetarian options.
(5)Fn A.
Really wanted to like this place...but didn't. Tried it twice, first with Montana locals who love it. I had basic eggs and sausage, sausage was eh. Fresh oj was lukewarm. Hash browns were good as I ordered them well done. Omelette was ok. Second time had the surprise skillet egg dish with under done hash browns and other stuff. I almost bought a cinnamon roll to go but they felt stale and are way to big to be appetizing unless your feeding 4. Just wasn't happening for us.
(2)Chris M.
Hands down, one of the best breakfast places in the entire country. I would consider vacationing in Billings just to go to Stella's.
(5)David R.
This place was the stop I had to go to for breakfast before I hit the office. The few 2 days I enjoyed the food here. After that, the meals were bland and overly greasy. I'd suggest splitting the 1 pound cinnamon roll with a marching band, or just getting a regular sized roll. If you are stopping through this town, I'd suggest going here once and then going other places after you went here ONCE.
(3)Diana D.
Just average. After all the great reviews we were expecting something great. The cinnamon rolls were dry, biscuits rubbery, and eggs overcooked. Lower your expectations.
(3)Todd C.
A nice place for Breakfast for the whole family. While I think McCormick's has more interesting food Stella's has a much larger menu and is a more traditional diner type of restaurant. The breakfast menu is solid, and the enormous plate-sized pancakes are a good deal. If you can eat two you must be seriously hungry! We visited on a sunny Sunday morning and the place was bustling with everything from young families to senior citizens. The servers were busy but friendly, and my coffee cup was constantly full. None of the wait staff looked the least bit shady. As far as the neighborhood goes, I guess everyone has their own definition of what a bad neighborhood is. I'm not bothered by the area at all, and none of the many children or elderly customers seemed bothered either. If this is the worst you every run into in 24 years you're living a pretty safe life indeed.
(4)Scott P.
Good solid food with generous portions. Great cinnamon rolls.
(4)Kyle B.
Crazy cheap, and good eats to boot. I needed to stop on my drive cross country, and Stella's turned out to be a great find. It's like a Denny's with homemade food. Nothing fancy, grandparent-friendly ambiance, but excellent breakfast.
(4)Henry E.
With Elmers gone, the breakfast places in Billings are narrowed down and Stella's is the perfect way to start out the day. The majority of the entrees here are of pretty decent size. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and ballin'. They waitresses and waiters are prompt. The prices are moderate. Try something from the bakery! So good.
(4)Sarah L.
Stella's would easily get five stars if it weren't in, for real, the only neighborhood in billings I've ever been in in 24 years of life where I fear for my personal safety every single time I visit. It's across the street from the women's shelter, which in billings is considerably seedier than the actual women's prison. I get the SENSE that they hire waitresses from the shelter now, because I've had a waitress that appeared to be a junkie on the shakes 2 / 3 of the times I've eaten at Stella's since it moved to its new location. The food is always incredible though. Soups, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, all made freshly in the kitchen, and a different special of the meat pasty, minestrone soup, salad, and dessert variety every day. The new location is cleaner and more palatable on the inside than the old location, which is a fortunate offset of the detestable neighborhood. Take a monster cinammon or caramel roll home to eat for brekfast for the next six weeks. You will NOT be sorry you ate at stella's, but you might be sorry you parked your car in front of the women's shelter.
(4)Marine V.
Good and varied breakfast selection, just wish they served a decent coffee.
(4)Jeffrey G.
Best breakfast in Billings, hands down! Now, the food is not very creative, and the decor is certainly not trendy, but it is VERY reliable. You MUST eat one of their 1 pound cinnamon rolls - OMG - heart attack on a plate, and sooooo worth it. A lot of bang for your buck. Big portions, kids meals are great, solid service. Also not a bad neighborhood - I always park in front of the shelter, never had a problem. Oh - I almost forgot, pick up a Blueberry Pie - you will be an instant hero at home!
(4)Michael J.
Stella's is the place to go when u r hungry for some brunch the size of yellowstone. The place is usually packed, testament of how.consistently good their food is, also the service has been equally friendly.
(5)They Call Me L.
Mmmmmm, breakfast! Everything I tried was yum. Great bacon. French toast tasty. Hashbrowns perfect. And the service is spot-on.
