This place had me sold once I saw a separate Mac n cheese menu! I had the Red Rooster mac n cheese, a spicy buffalo chicken style mac. Super good! The brew are great too! $4 a beer made MBC a great value. I had the chocolate saison and the brown ale, both of which I would stock my own fridge with!

Here at Montana Brewing Company before heading to the airport. I ordered the gigantic pretzel for $12.99 and a beer sampler which came with eight 4oz pours. Here is what I thought: Liked: 1. Huckleberry Wheat Indifferent: 1. Sandgaggers Gold 2. Whitetail Wheat 3. Lost Prospector IPA 4. Sharptail Pale Didn't Like: 1. Wee Williams Wallace Scottish Ale 2. Fatbelly Amber 3. Espresso Porter I'm glad I checked them out, but I wasn't impressed.

Needed a place to eat while I was on the road, so I thought I'd stop by here. And it was perfectly adequate. Don't get me wrong - there's nothing *bad* about the place - but there's nothing special going on here. The food is your standard brewpub fare... the service was decent but not super awesome... and the price is reasonable. Had the mac and cheese while I was here, and as Shania says, it didn't impress me much. I was able to grab a seat on the patio, which was fine for people-watching, but I felt forgotten about a couple of times. Since I'm not from Billings, I can't say "oh, (xx) place does it better", because I just don't know. But as a visitor, I can say that it wasn't anything to proverbially write home about. And that's why it only gets an average rating.

I found my way here on accident. The bar is pretty comfortable. The brew selection is subpar. The brewing even more so. Wasn't to stoked to be honest. Compounded by the fact that the younger guy behind the bar finger bangs ever rim on every glass he pours. Nasty. Like, painful to watch him pour beer. I did eat the spinach salad which was pretty good. As was the service by anyone but young dude behind the bar .

In search of a Bison Burger for my son and my desire to try local brews we ended up here. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful night. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, she recommended the strawberry infused whitetail wheat...phenomenal. Left their slightly depressed knowing I can't buy this brew anywhere. For an appetizer we tried the artichoke mushroom cheese dip...YUM! My son loved his Bison burger and sweet potato fries. Husband got a flatbread and even took the left overs...never happens! For my dinner I tried the Montana Dip. It is a roast beef sandwich and contrary to other reviews there was a rather large amount of roast beef on it. I actually took a little off. It was a fabulous dinner in Billings Montana!

A good choice, the Montana Brewing Company, as our spot to watch the American women's soccer team in their World Cup final against Japan. The four of us have had a good warm-up, with a pair of taster flights and three selections from the appetizer menu - the Caesar salad (with four forks), a giant pretzel, and the artichoke. All of them were fun and flavorful and did not get in the way of the beer. There are large flatscreen tv's placed around the classic barroom, and the dining room stretches beyond for some distance, parallel with the brewing equipment on view in their own glass-walled room. The brewery is well located in the historic downtown area, encouraging its use as a base for short treks around town.

My husband and I were visiting from out of town and MBC was within walking distance of our hotel. I would say the food is pretty typical of a brewery. Nothing overly amazing, but still good. Wait staff was pretty average. If you are looking for a good overall pub experience give MBC a try.

Went in on a Saturday during lunch hour: Solid place to land for a quick lunch. Food portions are HUGE. Service was awesome. Food quality was average. Atmosphere was slightly below average. IPA was below average. A solid place to land for a quick bite for lunch. 3.5/5

It's one of your standard combination breweries and pubs with upscale food. This is one of the better ones. For drinks, I had the seasonal macchiato ale, which added coffee and vanilla to a lighter beer instead of the usual porter or stout. That was amazing and I don't know why more places don't do the same thing. The amber ale was solid as well. As for food, I had the andouille mac 'n' cheese (Cajun?) with a side of the daily soup, broccoli cheddar. The cheddar notes were muted in both the soup and the mac, so it was not a particularly sharp variety of cheese, but the soup had chunks of fresh broccoli and the mac was loaded with sausage, so overall it was good. I would offer the following if the ownership happens to read this: Right now, the mac is a midsize portion with a midsize price. It would be great if you offered appetizer portions (maybe half to 2/3 the size) and dinner portions (maybe 4/3 to 3/2 the size), with different price points to suit. I think that would help people with a little interest try the mac and people like me make a meal out of it. Dessert: Brownie was good, nothing overwhelmingly good, but good, and the ice cream was good. Service: Excellent. Very attentive waitress, kept my needs met. This is a strong 4 for me. I don't think anything stands out enough for 5 stars, but I have no specific complaints (the mac 'n' cheese note isn't a complaint, really). If someone told me they were staying in Billings, I'd recommend this place to them. But I would still want to try more places if I happen to come back.

The Brew Pub has a great atmosphere. Sidewalk dining, as well as in doors, lively crowd. Lots to choose from on the menu. Enjoy the scene.!

I've been looking forward to this place since I arrived and not worth the trip. If you do not like hoppy beer, then this is the place for u. Only one beer had 40 IBU-SPY IPA and it had a bitter finish. Wait staff didn't seem knowledgeable about the beer and the food was ordinary (I had the Southern mac & cheese with bacon & fried chicken. Fried chicken translated to cut up chicken strips. Beer & food lovers skip this place and go to Uberbrew or Red Lodge Ales.

Convenient, big selection of food and beer. I do not drink beer so I found it challenging to rate it higher. All of my friends that are beer drinkers, I would take here and definitely recommend. The menu of food reflects the focus of why this place is here; Beer. Many big food items that are well portioned but can lack some flavor at times. Lots of greasy food options.

Amazing chip strip and chicken salad. The service has been good every time as well as great atmosphere. Not only do they have great beer but also a respectable wine selection.

Just finished up the bayou Mac & Cheese and a porter. Really good! Creamy Mac with good spice from the sausage. They were out of the stout that everyone raves about so I went with the porter. Exactly what a porter is supposed to be. Not spectacular but very solid. Will come back for sure.

I hate to have to change my mind, but the more I go to the Brewpub, the more I like it. The Rooster Mac & Cheese is crazy good, and once the staff gets to know you OR you sit at the bar, service is a non-issue. As stated in my first post... BEER... GREAT!!!!

Three extremely thin slices of meat on the French Dip. Arby's serves more roast beef on their smallest sandwich, and I am not even kidding!

While visiting Montana for work I took to Yelp to steak out some of my options and Montana Brewing Company was at the top of my list, in fact it was so good I managed to make it here twice during my short trip. For my first visit I make a stop for lunch, where the Mac & Cheese was highly recommended by a co-worker. I arrived during the lunch rush so I decided to just take a seat at the bar. I took a menu and looked over the selections, and decided on the Southern Mac which was served with fried chicken and bacon and a small roll. This was awesome, very creamy and fully of flavor. The prices were fair and the service was great. My second visit was almost by accident, one of our vendors wanted to take us out to dinner and they picked Montana Brewing Company, it was music to my ears. When we arrived I ordered a MBC Wheat, which was very good. Later I tried a Strawberry Wheat beer which was served with a frozen strawberry in the glass, and much to my surprise it was very good. Normally a beer like that would be overly fruity however this was the perfect balance! While looking over the menu the table sampled some of the Gigantic Pretzel which was huge, and very tasty. I ended up ordering a burger which was served on a pretzel roll, overall this was a pretty good burger but did not compare to the messy masterpiece served at the Burger Dive. Overall I really enjoyed Montana Brewing Company, and was a little heart broken leaving since I am not sure when I will get to return. I really want another beer and perhaps the Rocky Crab Mac!

Solid burgers here! I especially liked the pretzel bun! They also have a wide variety of flat breads and Mac 'n cheese. Good selection of beers, too. I liked the Vanilla Porter.

The classic nachos were very good, though the pineapple salsa was strange we preferred the more traditional salsa. I had the Spire Mountain Dark & Dry Cider which was very good, as I am very picky about cider after having the best in Ireland and there are many ciders in the U.S. that do not have the right taste. My husband had Doreen's Downtown Brown Ale. If it helps to know he had three, which must mean it was good. The old fashioned apple crisp was yummy. The waitress was a little slow, but she was the only one in our area. We're first came in there were only two other tables full, and she was very attentive she. It got busy, she got busy. It was not her fault as she seemed to be the only waitress in our section of 9 tables, two of which were large. parties. The only real complAint was that it was a little chilly. They could turn the air down a little it.

Our food was good, our waitress was great, but the management needs a reevaluation. When one of the managers, or any member of the "team" for that matter, makes another cry.. Something needs to be done! That's not going to keep the help that's worth having around and it's going to drive people away from the restaurant. Being the queen bee isn't the way to run things! The manager brought us our food and I couldn't help but be short with her the way she was with our waitress. I wish I knew her (the manager) name because I would call and talk to the owner about how our waitress was treated!

Broadway in downtown Billings is a slice of urban life among the amazing scenery and wilderness that surrounds the city. Full of shops, restaurants, bars and people, it was an oasis for us after hours of driving without cell service or signs of civilization...though it is one of the most beautiful drives you'll ever take. I love that we were able to walk to MBC from our hotel, just a few blocks away on 29th Street (the Dude Rancher Lodge). We arrived hungry, so we asked our waitress' opinion on the roasted garlic and Brie vs nachos. We got the Brie on her recommendation and loved it - bubbling cheese, perfectly soft garlic cloves and a pile of pizza bread for dipping and spreading. For dinner, I sought to find the perfect pair to my pale ale (which was delicious). The menu suggested the chicken Gorgonzola sandwich, which was also topped with bacon and on a toasted and buttered wheat roll. The chicken was super thick which made it hard to eat, but I pushed through to finish the whole thing. The sweet potato fries were plentiful and came with a spicy aioli into which I found myself dipping my bread. Our server, Kelsey, embodied the friendliness we've encountered in this part of the country and was quick to get us everything we needed. My only regret is that I only tried one craft beer. Guess we'll just have to come back!

This is a great spot for just about any occasion. They have a whole section of Mac N Cheese's which is obviously exciting. They also feature some tasty in house beers.

What an awesome experience. Our waitress was personable and helpful in making our menu selections. We had a variety of items from the pizza to the chips and salsa as well as the artichoke app. Everything was absolutely delish! Also... As a brew company it's important to have great beer... Which they did! We did the sampler which is 8 mini tasters for cheap! I didn't LOVE all of them as some were too hoppy for me, but I did enjoy tasting all of them. If I lived nearby, I would be a regular.

They have excellent true Montana locally brewed beers! They taste amazing & the food is very mouth watering as well.

The beer selection was excellent and the descriptions lined up with the flavors. Their buffalo sauce was delicious although the wings could have been cooked a bit more. The steamed veggie appetizer was lacking. The steamed artichoke was lacking any real flavor. Went on a Friday night around 8pm. 10 minute wait.

I love breweries. I love them because they're so dark and gloomy and always stock full of beer, good food, pretty waitresses and you can pick up a t-shirt on your way out. This one was no exception. We were traveling from San Antonio, Texas and had come so far and we just wanted beer. Simple as that. My husband is a "beer connoisseur" and loves to try new beer. This place was perfect. I thought the location was spot-on even though parking was minimal. This city is so gorgeous that a nice walk in the cool weather didn't hurt us a bit. Although the beer selection wasn't as large as some of the other breweries we've visited, he decided to order a "sampler" which was 8, 5oz glasses of very different and unique beer for 8$. Not freaking bad. He is NOT a lager, stout or porter fan and absolutely fell in love with "Custer's Last Stout" which is a dark stout with a hint of chocolate. I even liked it and these usually aren't my forte. 5/5 stars. He also loved the Whitetail Wheat and the Great Stout. This place knows beer. Now the food...holy food. We started off with the "beer chips" which are fresh, hot salted fries covered in bacon, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, sour creams and green onions and they were delicious. Perfect beer food. I would have liked to have had more cheese to cover ALL of the fries, but they were still excellent. I decided to order a bowl of their creamy, cheesy potato and ham soup and a Caesar salad. The bowl of soup is HUMUNGOUS. Do not order a salad with this unless you are absolutely starving. I finished half of it and didn't touch my salad. Besides the size, it was wonderful. Creamy and chock full of red potatoes and chunks of tasty ham. I even saw a few pieces of celery which added a nice crunch. I'd definitely order this again. My husband had the "Rocky Crab Mac" and he finished his in seconds. He loves crab meat and even though it wasn't exactly authentic crab, it was still good. Our waitress was a real gem. She was a young thing and was bouncing with energy, running back and forth to make sure we had everything we needed. She even brought us out 4 different shirt options so my husband could pick the one he wanted. (Get a shirt here, people!). GREAT food, PERFECT service and a small, but delectable selection of beers. Try the Cutler's Last Stout...even if you aren't a stout fan! Trust me on this!

Great selection of beer though my favorite was the hard cider. It was so good I had to get a growler to go, I won't be back for awhile. The fish tacos were delicious. I even had a side of sweet potato fries which were very good. Service was very good. .

I was in Billings for only one night and as soon as I heard about this place that had an entire mac-n-cheese section on the menu I was in! We were seated right away by a pleasant hostess and our server was just as friendly. The beer selection was great and they let my co-worker sample a couple before deciding. The food came out fast and everything we ordered tasted delicious. I can't wait to go back to Billings - you'll know where to find me!

Seriously. Coming out of Boston where we're known for our drinking, this place is it! Enchilada bites are delicious, but you should probably skip straight to the Red Rooster Mac. Your mouth will thank you. Not for the weak, this is a better, spicier buffalo sauce than anything you've had before, and it's fantastic. The wheat beer is light, easy to drink and just citrus-y enough. Highly recommend listening to the bartender when he tells you what to have.

I was in yesterday while I was waiting for my car to get washed. I sat at the bar and Edgar what's awesome. He gave me a couple of samples and I chose the Hooligans red. What a great beer for this time of year. If you are are looking for a great place with great beers made in house stop in. Plus the food is great also try the sweet potato fries.

Totally just wrote a review for the wrong brewery over here. Woops. That's what happens when you check in to 7 breweries in a week I suppose. Here's the deal: Drunk dudes wandering around outside. One of them tried to touch Fox's face, we tell him to knock it off, they follow us for a little while talking about beating the shit out of us. Decide to take shelter inside this brewery. Holy lord, my salmon quesadilla was delicious. What did you put in this thing, angel eyelashes or something? What hand doth create this dill-flavored cheesy beast? My appetizer clearly was made for several people to snack on, definitely not for me to just pig out on like an idiot. Whatever. Sampled one of the soups, it was on point. Booyeah. Love this spot.

Anytime we visit Billings MT we always have lunch at the Montana Brew Pub! This Holiday 2014 trip was no exception. The food and service is always top notch. The atmosphere is perfect for lunchtime casual! Perfect spot to stop and refuel for shopping!

A nice selection of beers and a really good cider! The spinach salad was tasty, clean and had a very good poppyseed dressing served with it. I would have stayed but a tapas bar down the street was calling. Mucho TV's, a nice patio and friendly service.

Large selection of micro beers. Something for everyone. Food selection has many options. I like the Maverick. Their Mac and cheeses' are really good. Always a good choice for food, drinks and fun.

    (5)
  • Linda W.

Mediocrity at its best. I was impressed with the menu selection, but definitely not with the service or the food. Warm cold slaw, unimpressive fries, and cod that tasted like a good TV dinner. Service was almost non-existent for our table and those surrounding us. When the waitress finally asked if we wanted another beer, she completely ignored the empty glass of soda our son had. Brought the check and never asked if we would like dessert, how was our meal, if there was anything else we needed.

I came here for bison pot pie. Gravy was good but bison was very tough also under seasoned . I eat a lot of bison and it should not be that tough. Phillo dough / pastry on top was good. Nice atmosphere for lunch

I'm somewhere between a 2.5 and 3. This is obviously a popular place for Billings, as it was packed at 4 p.m. on a Wednesday. This being only the second time I've left the interstate while traversing Billings, perhaps 4 p.m. is a heavy drinking time? Perhaps all the time is heavy drinking time? The sampler impresses, in terms of the number of offerings - 8 plus a 9th that didn't fit on the sheet. And there were more. Apparently, MBC has won a number of medals for their beers. I guess I'm jus too much of a big and bold beer guy most of the time, because I didn't rate much above a 3. The 88 (?) IPA was my favorite. Had to throw in an extra half star as well for the beautiful bartender whom asked me if it was okay to charge $4 to fill my 32 oz growler. It's only $7 or $8 to fill a 64 oz, but she was so sweet and concerned that way she asked. She got a couple extra bucks for that. Can't say I'd return, but then again, I love beer, and as long as they brew something new, I might stop by. This is more of a restaurant/bar with onsite craft beer than a brewpub. If it's that packed at 4 p.m., I can't imagine what it must be at 9 p.m. A bit noisy for my tinnitus.

  • Preet S.

Basically, dont go there. Tried the food and the beer, wasn't impressed by either. On top of that bad service. Its like a trifecta of bad restauranting.

  • Ron S.

Nice location in the center of town. Ok service. Trying the Bayou Mac and Cheese, with Andouille sausage, green peppers. Nick is having Fish and Chips with the beer sampler. Beers are a good variety he says. If I worked in Billings, this would be a good choice for a spring place to hang, smell the diesel pick up trucks as they went up the street. Not a real street scene otherwise.

  • nadia m.

Stars are for beer only. Loved the rye, took home a growler even though 'home' was a hotel 7 hours further down the interstate. The apple wheat was nice too, a great beer alternative to cider. Food wise i had the mac and cheese. It was way too soupy.

  • Victoria R.

This restaurant had great pub food and was characteristic of a pub/bar in Providence or Boston. There weren't many vegetarian options, but the food was good. I had chips and salsa, quesadillas and the Montana Brewing Co. Pomegranate wheat beer which was phenomenal.

QUESTION: Whats better than good craft beer? ANSWER: Good craft beer at a discount! (Chun P = Cheapass) Example 1: Beer Samplers Stone Brewing, San Diego CA = $7 for four 4oz tasters = RIP OFF! Versus Montana Brewing, Billings MT = $7 for EIGHT 4oz tasters = I'M WINNING!!!!!!!! If you're an equal opportunity beer drinker, like myself, whom can enjoy the entire spectrum of beerism from Lagers to Hefs to Ambers to IPAs to Porters to Stouts....I HIGHLY reccommend you order this delicious beer sampler. Tastes so good when it hits your lips...Expresso Porter was delish! Example 2: Pint Time West Coast Tavern, San Diego CA = $6.50 a beer = RIP OFF! (Recently paid $6.50 for a Stella here...WTF?!) VERSUS Montana Brewing, Billings MT = $3.50-4 a beer = I'm WINNING(again)!!!!!!!! After you've finished the 32 ounces of beer sampling, you can now make a educated decision which you'd like a pint of...or if you're indecisive like me, just order another beer sampler. Like my investments portfolio, the menu is well diversified: decent burgers, excellent sweet potato fries, sandwiches, flatbreads, pastas, and bar apps which almost everything is priced below $9. My fav is the rich & fatty Crab Mac N Cheese dish for only $8.95...I don't know where they get crab meat from(Canada? Canned? ), but hey, its good! Minus 1 Star: Excellent service from the friendly waitress the first night the 14 of us rolled in...but the second night we came we had a different waitress whom was all frazzled, didn't smile, and short with us. She acted as though we were inconviencing her just by our very existence. Don't big tables mean big tips? Job security? Sorry Bitch, lousy service equals a lousy $1.53 tip.

I was traveling through town and popped in for a quick bite. I'm a pretty big fan of mac and cheese, and noticed they had several types on the menu (including crab mac and cheese, bayou mac and cheese, and cheeseburger mac and cheese). I settled on Southern mac and cheese - which came with pieces of fried chicken and a biscuit. It was excellent. The cheese sauce was super velvety and the chicken was moist and flavorful. Definitely worth the visit.

It was overall ok. My experience was meh. We sat at the bar after being in the car all day, and it was loud. But it was beer, so we stopped. I had a plate of chips and salsa and it was all right. Nothing to write home about. The bartender was a bit distracted and/or not friendly and/or too busy but he got us what we needed in a reasonable amount of time. The building was my favorite part - it looks like a historical bank-turned-bar. It was fun to look around at the structure instead of at the games on TV.

Having the MBC pita club w/ sweet potato fries. Everything is top notch. Soo dang good! Honestly best SP fries I have ever had. Bacon was a tad overcooked, the only miss I could find.

Great American twist to the enchilada. Momma had simple salad with grilled chicken added. Both fresh and delicious. The kiddos had the pizza and there is none left over. Would have given 5 stars but the MMA fight on the tv was a bit much.

If you're looking for good beer, good food, and the best service in Billings, look no further the Montana Brewing Company. I've had almost everything on the menu so trust me on these suggestions: Chips n Chicken Salad. Roast Garlic and Brie. Rocky Crab Mac. All to die for. If their Chinook IPA or Stillwater Rye is on draft, give them a try. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with their Hef or Pale. All of the servers here are great but if at all possible, grab a seat in Kaysi or Mandy's sections. Both of these ladies know a LOT about beer and not only will they provide you with prompt service, they also know how to really engage with you. You won't be disappointed if you stop by and give MBC a try!

The beer selection is so good I wanted to stay there one more day just to get a taste of it all. I prefer to sit outside and get my drink and there is nothing better during the summer than this. I would definitely visit billings just to get another sip of their beer and a taste of their appetizers.

I always fly into Billings on business and its pretty much my last stop before I head off into BFE to work in an extremely remote place in Montana. If you are a lover of tasty beverages, do yourself a solid and grab a brew from this very welcoming establishment! Food is pretty decent and during the summer it has a great patio to enjoy/people watch. Also new indian cliff ipa is perfect! Thanks again!

Good food and good beer; love that they have a cider on tap. Only thing I can warn you about is that the buffalo sauce (comes with the buffalo chicken salad and wrap) is way spicier than anticipated. Overall, it's a decent place to drop in and hang out with friends.

This place ought to be better than it appears from the street. Service is lacking and the food is mediocre. The beer is surprisingly good. Perhaps they should stick to what works or fix what is not.

I like it. It's pretty average, the food is fine, but I was so happy to be in a Microbrew for an afternoon snack. Solid, a bit pricey for what we got. I was super excited to satisfy my craving for sweet potato fries, but next time I think I'll order something else. I read some good reviews about service here, so hopefully the day we were there was just an off day -- it wasn't great, but maybe it'll be better next time.

  • Matthew C.

Came here based on other reviews and a picture of the Irish fries. The customer service was awesome. The place was packed. Now why not 5 stars you ask well sit down and let me tell you a tale. We ordered a burger and the fries. The seasoning on the fries was gross, probably good by them-self but gross when you add cheese, bacon, chives and sour cream. The burger itself had no flavor. The beverages were good. The other reason I took some stars away cuz finding parking was a mess and we came at 4 PM

I have had lunch here a few times while traveling back and forth from the airport, usually headed to Red Lodge.. This is a very nice place for a beer and a meal. There is a rectangle shaped bar with some tables around it, a large dinning area in the back, and a nice patio outside. Very chill and relaxed. The service was really good. The bartenders might not have known as much about the beer as I would like, but they were very prompt and enthusiastic. The food was OK. I had a pastrami sandwich that was decent. The sweet potato chips were awesome though. I came back latter and had a pizza. That was not all that great. Nothing bad, just average. The beers are average to very good. I love the Stillwater Rye and Custards Last Stout. The wheat and amber are just average though. It is all fresh though, always a plus. Most the waitresses have just the bar minimum of knowledge about the beer, but they work hard. When I ordered a pizza, and the cook burned it. The manager came out and told me before I even knew what happened. I did not have time to eat it there because of my flight. So they remade the pizza, put it in a to go box free of charge. That was great. Overall, this is a place a do enjoy. The food is not t he best, and some of the beer is just average. Though a place that would be a regular haunt of mine if I lived in the area.

From here on out, this will be a must when we visit Billings. I enjoyed the Gorgonzola Grilled Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and Dave had the Spicy Turkey Burger. Both were perfect. The beer here is excellent. We enjoy the lively atmosphere and impeccable service.

Basically only place open at 10pm with food on a Saturday. Beers were really good. Got the apricot. Waitress was very nice and got our food order in right in time. Mac and Cheese is really good.

Ok so out of all the places I have been to in Montana.... This place is my favorite. Awesome atmosphere and the food is great. You have to try the Southern Mac and Cheese. I'm from Colorado and I feel we have the best Brew Beer on the planet but I have to give it to them. They know how to brew a great beer. I will be back for sure.

They had really good beer and the food was pretty good too. I had one of their flatbreads and was pretty pleased. The service was really good and she had a lot of recommendations when we asked.

Passing thru and found this brewery. Good mix of crowds, blue and white collar. Beer was good and the green chili cheese burger was excellent, rest of menu looked just as good. Located in what I believe to be downtown or at least close, great place to grab lunch or dinner.

Love Brew Pub! The atmosphere is awesome! It's a great place to grab lunch, meet friends for a drink and some apps or have a large get together. I highly recommend.

Get here early because it is usually busy. Food always good and large portions. Recommend burgers, sweet potatoe fries, or the nachoes .

We had just arrived in Billings from CLE for job interviews. We were there... for... about 20 minutes when we staked out this place. The inside reminds me of some of the Cleveland breweries. It was big, open, wooden. We decided to sit at the bar. The bartender, Edgar, gets 5 stars. He was so friendly, helpful, and almost an adjust tour guide to Billings while we ate our dinner. It was nice getting an insider's guide to the city. If the review was based on the service alone, it would be a five - for sure. I ordered the rock shrimp mac. Edgar explained that the mac & cheese thing kind of evolved there... and they seemed very proud of it. The mac and cheese was decent. Just nothing miind-blowing. The sauce was overly thick ... and not in a gooey cheese way... in a way that makes me think they used the wrong proportions in their sauce OR they used processed cheese (EEKS!). I liked this place. Now that we are moving to Billings, I can see myself spending a lot more time here. I just hope they find a way to make the mac a little less gooey and a little more cheesy. :)

Conveniently located downtown, my boyfriend and I walked over from our hotel. We were promptly seated outdoors (which we asked for). The outdoor seating was plentiful but not over crowded. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. We are from Wisconsin and she suggested some local gems to look in to. The food was very good. I got the turkey burger. It was the perfect amount of spice and was fantastically filling. My boyfriend got the Hickory BBQ burger. He loves it. A bit too saucy for me, but overall very good. Both the sweet and regular potato fries were shared and agreed favorably upon. The real star of this place is the beer. We tried 5 different beers brewed by them. All of them were very good, but the two that stood out were the Strawberry Wheat and Doreen's. The former being lighter but with muddled strawberries. The later being darker with hints of coffee. The pricing wasn't bad for the food and service. If we are ever in Billings again, we will absolutely stop back.

Not bad. Food was good and priced right. Bartender knew about the beers he was promoting. Would definitely go back.

First off... Love the style of the place. Being from seattle I felt at home. The beer is a must... Tried pale ale was a little hoppy so switched to golden ale and it was amazing. Now on to the important things... The food. We tried the asiago cheese dip. To die. The bread to use with it was probably best part. I had a bacon BBQ cheeseburger .. Not fancy but the sweet potato fries are my new favorite. They are sooo good. But for the dessert you must try the big cookie!! Amazing!! Amazing!! Did I say amazing!!

Good solid place. Its what you expect from a brew pub. Lots of good micro brews, yet they still serve old standbys like Bud in a bottle for those who have not caught onto the micro brew trend (I am talking about you Mom and Dad). The service was good. Drinks were always full, and the food took no time at all. Food was definitely a plus. Better than typical bar fare, but just what you would hope for from a brewery. Keep up the good work.

My husband and I were invited to ride in a classic Buick '67 Skylark for the Burn the Point parade last night. Downtown streets were more congested than I have ever seen them. Afterward we decided to get a bite and throw back a couple of brews at the Montana Brewing Company. It was about 8:30. We muddled our way through a very chaotic, standing room only restaurant. We were told our wait would be 1/2 hour. I sat at the bar, my husband stood. We ordered two glasses of White Tail Wheat brews. There is no bitter taste to this one. Behind the bar were at least 4 bartenders who moved with precision coordination. They were amazing to observe. Before we knew it, our table was ready for us in 15 minutes. We fully expected a long wait for our server to take our order, then a longer wait for the food considering how jam-packed this establishment was. Instead, our good-natured server took our order immediately. In our past visits here, we mostly ordered fish and chips which are usually the best Billings has to offer. The food serving is generous with the freshest deep fried fish and homemade french fries and ranch dip. Last night we ordered delicious nachos with beans, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. The serving was also generous enough to share. The servers were consistently accommodating throughout the evening, making sure we were satisfied with service and food. Our overall experience was exceptional as it always is at the Montana Brewing Co.

This was a great place to find in our recent trip to Billings Montana. It was great for underage people to gather and eat as well as adults to enjoy some great beer. I highly recommend the Buffalo burger, I mean really who wouldn't. It was better than the beef burger I had the night before. A lot less fat and more flavor. The sweet potato fries were too good also. The wait staff was awesome and split checks with out so much as a thought. I'd hit that place again if I ever find myself in Billings Montana... BUFFALO MEAT IS SO GOOD!

The "Brew Pub", as we call it, is like my home away from home. The staff is excellent, friendly, and intelligent. Summer time is patio time at the Brew Pub. The food is excellent!! (I usually go for the Rocky Crab Mac or the Enchilada Bites) and their microbrews are delicious (I prefer the Oatmeal Stout myself) I've gone there for many different occasions; drink with friends, eat with parents, eat with friends, or just grabbing a drink after work and chatting with the bartenders, and it has been suitable for each situation. Their location is prime: next door to a wine bar, casino and sports bar. Even the one time I was "unhappy" with company, they reciprocated and made sure that everything was taken care of and I was happy when I left. They care so much about their customer's experience and that is why I will forever be a patron of the Brew Pub.!

Montana Brewing Company had my least favorite beer out of all of the Billings microbreweries. It's more than your small microbreweries, more in line with a BJs or CB & Potts or something like that. It seems like this place is a franchise, even though there's only one. And that basically sums it all up. Everything is average about this place, from the decor, to the atmosphere, to the beer. It's like Chili's opened a microbrewery. The good reviews on Yelp might be for the food, but we only had beer.

Fun, noisy, Sports Bar! Food was below average. We ordered the Brie and roasted garlic 2 times and they still gave us raw garlic bulbs. Maybe the regular chef was on vacation and the dishwasher was subbing. It happens. Beer was delicious!

Our family goes here all the time. There are a few favorites that we get off the menu on a regular basis - the nachos, chicken quesadilla, mac 'n' cheese, burgers, fish 'n' chips, and chicken strips. My husband likes the beer. My daughter loves getting the steamed artichoke - maybe just because it's unique. The service is pretty good. It seems some of the quality/quantity of the food has gone down a tiny bit in the past couple of years. (chicken strips seemed to have changed and the nacho portions have gotten smaller) We still like it, though. Try it out - it's one of our favorites. Don't go if: you want a close parking spot or if you want to eat somewhere quiet. We like to eat out on the patio, but sometimes you get harrassed by the homeless folks walking by. I know that's not the Brew Pub's fault, but it still not fun when it happens.

When I came Billings to work for a couple of weeks, I heard good things about the Montana Brewery. So on one of my last days, my co-workers and I went after work and we made it just in time for Happy Hour. It was pretty packed but we managed to get a place to sit right away. We were greeted promptly by the waitress who gave us some recommendations on the beers they had. I never had a black and tan beer before so I tried that. It was delicious; the combination of light and dark beer made my throat tingle with each swallow. While we were waiting for our burgers to arrive, we noticed the servers were setting up a buffet style of food near us. It was mainly chips and salsa with some other condiments to go along with it. The chips were fresh and the salsa was chunky and flavorful. The toppings that went along with it were just as good. On the plus side, it was all complimentary. When the burgers arrived, I managed to eat it all despite having the free appetizers earlier. The meat was cooked perfectly and the fries were cooked to perfection. The meat in Montana always gives me big smiles. The happy hour was a big highlight during my visit. The beers were only $2 and well drinks were pretty cheap too. For all the drinks and food that my co-workers and I ordered, it came to be about $20 bucks or so. I was very impressed and it was one of the best places to go during my visit in Billings. If I were to come here again for work, this would definitely be my first place to go to eat.

The beer is fantastic, and stands up to any other locally crafted brews in Montana--which is saying a lot. Unfortunately, the food simply can't keep up. I won't waste time talking about how the Mac'n'Cheese dishes are halfway-decent. It's borderline impossible to f**k up Mac'n'Cheese. Practically everything else that I have eaten in this establishment has left a lot to be desired. Many of the sandwich toppings--particularly the "guacamole"--are obviously squeezed out a plastic Sysco bag. The pizzas are underwhelming and soggy, and the fries--for all their renown--are prepackaged, frozen sh*t-sticks. Go for the beer, the friendly staff, and the atmosphere; but do yourself a favor, and skip the food.

It was better when they had bison burgers. Beer was excellent and you can't beat their happy hour $2 drafts. Caliente burger was good but...... BRING BACK THE BISON BURGERS!!!!

The flat bread with salad was a good option to satisfy hunger. I had the house special and enjoyed it. Beer is ok (blame it on Four Peaks for spoiling me) and no body can beat the Thursday 1 dollar beers! If you are visiting Montana, be aware that few places have license to open later than 8pm. This is one of them.

We had fish & chips for lunch with the recommended ales & WOW everything was GREAT. First off, the fish was perfectly done, not greasy and very tasty and meaty. The coleslaw was good. The chips were great. The tartar sauce!!! Man, the tartar sauce is so yummy, with just a bit of peppery taste. Did I mention the fish was great too? It was. AND the portions were so big, we took 2 of the pieces back to our travel trailer and had them for dinner. You can't beat that for $12.99! We're passing through on our way east and were on a bike ride on a very hot day in Billings, and this was a very pleasant stop for lunch. Highly recommend it. Waitress was friendly and efficient.

This is a good place to grab appetizers. The brew chips are amazing! The entrees are just ok and i wasn't big on the dessert. They make their own rootbeer but I wasn;t a fan. They do have seasonal beers and my husband has liked most of them. The bartenders don't really know classic drinks which is a bummer and it gets very loud so don't plan on having any meaningful conversations.

First of all, if you're going to go to this place just for a beer, aim to go earlier in the evening. It gets major crowded around dinner time and seems to be one of the only popular scenes for young people in Billings. Again, all in my opinion but I haven't seen many other places this crowded yet. The bar is pretty dark (as in not a lot of lighting) and the place is connected to a casino so it's double busy (yes I made that phrase up but it sounds right). I went with my boyfriend on our first night in town. Their happy hour means pretty cheap beer, except for their flagship and cider. I had the Whitetail Wheat (I think) and he had their Belgian Wheat style. We were both happy. He ordered the flagship after that and it was pretty good. We split the Roasted Garlic and Brie appetizer, served with pita bread, and were completely satisfied with our choice. Went back the next night, since we couldn't think of anything else we would like other than a good old Buffalo Burger. We should have opted to sit away from the front door the second time, given that it was -5 out and the cold air kept hitting us. Rookie mistake. They also have an upcharge of $2 per burger for buffalo instead of beef. Got blue cheese on mine, mmmmmm. I'd say the only complaint was it was a little overcooked, but I was starvin' marvin' so it didn't matter. The second night was a Tuesday and they had 22oz beer for the price of a pint, so Tim got the Whitetail again. All in all it was enjoyable both times, but you pay for it. I'd say if you are OK with a bill of $30+ for two, hit this place up. Otherwise get your brew at Carters (my fave) and wander to any of the local sandwich shops or cook at home, sissy.

A good place to hang out during happy hour. Sit outside on the patio on a nice sunny day. We hung out on a Wednesday, the Wednesday special is free wings starting @ 5pm. Free wings!!! $2 beers, $3 wine/wells & $4 premiums. I had the buffalo burger and sweet potato fries. Pomegranate wheat ale was a pretty delicious beer for a non beer drinker.

Decent beer, nice service but the chicken enchilada was really good.y husband and I split it for lunch and it was plenty. Had a green salad that was pretty good and my husband had the beef noodle soup which he liked.

Beer was fantastic. Coupled the wheat ale with a green chile burger and sweet potato fries. excellent. Other members of the dining party had burgers with pretzel buns and said they were the best pretzel buns ever. Worth the trip!

Was in town with my 17 year old son checking out Rocky Mtn. College, and wanted a local brewpub. Stopped in and since I couldn't figure out what brew to order, they brought me a three glass sampler. Nice! We ordered nachos and it was a good call. I'll be back!!!

This place was ok. As others have said, typical brew pub menu of burgers and sandwiches. A handful of dinner entree salads and just a few pasta entries. I had the smoked chicken pasta and it was good, not great. The parmesan cheese was partially melted in. I had boysenberry ale and t was fantastic. Their beers have won awards. It's OK, not great.

I've been here a handful of times over the last ~10 years... each time I think "maybe this time it will be better!" because it has so much potential. I don't know how though, but each time they manage to disappoint me again. They offer simple bar food that always comes off as so appealing from the menu but they just never seem able to execute it. I'm sure I'll try it again in a couple of years...

We stopped at the Montana Brewing Company on our road trip from Chicago to Bozeman, and this was a wonderful stop. The beer was great, the food was delicious, and this place really hit the spot for me. I enjoyed the beer so much, I grabbed a case at a local grocery store when we got to Bozeman and drank it on a mountain vista overlooking the sunset. Long story short, you guys brew something special!

  • K R.

Sorry, Montana Brewing Company, but I can no longer recommend the restaurant. We used to eat here often, but after the last 2 or 3 dinners with sub par service and disappointing food, we will not be coming back for lunch or dinner. My bbq chicken "flatbread" was like chewing chunks of rawhide, and we were not offered refills on the pricey kids drinks. Don't bother with the cheese flatbread... you get exactly the same thing for about half the price by ordering a cheese pizza from the kids' menu. We ordered both the cheese pizza from the kids' menu and the cheesy flatbread; they were exactly the same dish, but the flatbread had a few parsley flakes sprinkled on it. The waitress agreed with us and just responded with an apathetic "sorry." The beer is good and we'll still stop in for the occasional drink, but save your money and skip the food.

The beer is ok. I tried samples of their seasonals: Boysenberry wheat, Doreens downtown ale, Grumpy Old Ale, Beartooth expresso porter. I tried the enchilada bites and they were not very good. There was barely anything in it,basically just fried tortilla shell. The service was good though. It wasn't very busy which should have been my first sign. Not a lot of TVs if you're looking to watch sports.

The "Custer's Last Stout" was very good. It was on their seasonal list...should be a regular brew. The food was very good, reasonable brew-pub menu with plenty variety. The service was pretty good, could have been better (the kitchen made a mistake on the order, leaving off an extra-cost item, the they didn't take the charge off the check until after the second time I asked them). Also, the mac & cheese dish was served with a roll, which was okay, but they gave us margarine instead of butter. They had real tea.

Ate here a couple of months ago and had a great time. I had the mexican pizza on the honey wheat crust and it was awesome -- super fresh greens and an expertly made crust. The microbrew I had -- a blonde, but I forget the name -- was also excellent. It's in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the decor was cool -- a little kitschy, but the canoe hanging from the ceiling is a neat addition. Staff was nice, service was quick and the whole bill came to around $10/person.

Amber beer was pretty good. Had the pub burger sub buffalo patty sub pretzel bun. Yum. I think the pretzel bun and the side of buffalo sauce I ordered to dip the burger in was what put this burger over the top...spicy and full of flavor (oh and I added a little mustard too). My buffalo patty was cooked medium, which is perfect for buffalo, nice and juicy. Even the pickles were good. Service at the bar was outstanding. Hubby liked his blt and ordered xtra crispy fries. These fries xtra crispy were very good.

This is one of the best breweries I've ever been to. Maybe the best. The beer selection is amazing, the staff is always solid and the food is great. Whenever I visit family in Billings (once or twice a year) we stop in at least once. My only critique - bring back the sweet potato chips! Those were a one-of-a-kind MBC staple. They have since gone to the fries which are pedestrian and taste like everyone elses' store-bought, frozen fries.

    (4)
  • Anna K.

Whenever we have time to relax and eat in Billings we always head to the MBC. Their variety of beer is amazing. They change their specials every season, and we've never been disappointed with the selection. My husband loves everything dark and warm, and I'm a fan of their fruity light beers. Caution: Order the sampler only if you plan to share with at least two friends. The food is standard for a Montana bar- grilled things, burgers, steaks, etc. but usually with a little more flavor and creativity in sauces and sides. If we order an appetizer we'll get to-go boxes for dinner, but we've never had room for dessert.

Beer is good (Carter's is better). Food is OK depending on what you order. The pot roast burger is actually really good, but the regular burgers are quite ordinary (not great beef). Cold soggy fries.

Had appetizers on a whim while downtown. The place was pretty empty at 4pm but the service was nice. Not the typical bored irritated wait staff when they have no tables. We shared the enchiladas which came out quickly. A good snack, not spicy or overwhelming.

My husband and I stopped here on our drive through and our experience was mediocre at best. We ordered the Nachos ("Billings Best") and as my husband said, "If these are the best in town, I won't be coming to Billings any time in the future for nachos." They totally skimped on the cheese and by the time the top layer of chips was gone, it was only the chips and veggies left. Sorry, but the "best" must have cheese all the way through! Also tried a couple of their flatbreads. I had the Zorba's Greek, *shoulder shrug,* nothing to write home about. My husband had the Ultimate Warrior, once it finally came. They first brought him something else that obviously had sausage (not supposed to be on this flatbread). When we asked the waitress if it was the right pizza, she had to check the menu. Hello lady, don't you know your pizzas?? Sorry, but when you have pizzas with names, the staff should know what is on them. When it was determined it was the wrong one, she didn't even apologize, until the new one came and then she just said "sorry for the wait." Atmosphere was fine.

The Brewpub was a really awesome place. On a sunday night the place was buzzing with activity, and was the only place that was. The burger I had was cooked perfectly, and had toasted buns. The pale ale had a lot of flavor and was excellent. It is located right in the middle of town. It seemed to be a younger crowd but there were enough people there that there was still a goo mix. Prices are fair, about average for the type of restaurant.

We didn't have any food at the MBC but we did enjoy our lazy Sunday afternoon when we were passing through. All the beers we tried were tasty and surprising. It's a shame that they don't bottle and ship elsewhere, there's a market for them for sure.

Always very crowded with college kids, super loud and finding a place to even stand on weekends is nearly impossible. If your 21 and looking for a place to score.. this is your bar. If you want a quiet dinner.. forget it. Sure they brew their own beer but it is rushed, filtered hard and tastes very young. Stick with the bottled beer. Oh but the nachos are to die for !!!
