I'm a fan! Got me with the biscuits and gravy off the bat they are a home run! The basic breakfast and the thick cut bacon was amazing! I loved it and was so full! Coffee is great and they will fix anything on the spot if there's an issue. The pancakes are superb and the burgers are pretty damn big! Bring your appetite and prepared to be stuffed! The homemade lemonade is worth the price and you get free refills!

This is a difficult review because the food was really good but the service made it a horrible experience. We ate here twice for breakfast and both times we experienced poor service. I went back a second time only bc the food was good and I figured the waitress was having a bad day. The second visit they were very busy and our waitress had too many (6) tables spread out throughout the restaurant and patio. Of the four of us, she got two orders completely wrong. The food took 45 min to come. She forgot our drink orders. The barista was obviously not able to handle the rush and my latte arrived shortly before the food. I got up and got my own jams and jellies. Then overheard the table next to us also complain their order was wrong too. It just seemed as if the staff was content in 2nd gear when they really needed to shift into 4th gear for the holiday rush. Its a shame bc in this cute quaint town, this is one of a few breakfast places. I will not visit it again.

I came to Pocketstone Cafe based off of a friend's recommendation, it was my first time in Montana and we had a few hours to kill before heading to the airport for our return flight. The small downtown of Big Fork is just adorable, there were a few restaurant options but my friend said Pocketstone was the must try! We put our name in and waited about 20 minutes for our table, we were seated outside on the adorable porch. I got the turkey sandwich which was delicious! The bread it came on was made in house and SOO good, it was fluffy but still held up to the sandwich. Everything on the menu looked awesome, especially the breakfast. When and if I find myself in Big Fork again I will 100% be coming back here!

Many super choices on the menu. The ambience is cozy and tasteful. All the woods (walls, tables, floors, patio overhang) is wood reclaimed from a local dam, and surrounding area. This is the place to return over and over and for the cheat muffin that will be savored! Our waiter Nick took good care of us and all the staff is efficient and experienced. We are anxious to become regulars.

The buttermilk pancakes are thin just the way I like them. And they just melt in you're mouth. Also their cinnamon buns is one of the best I have had. Wonderful people and wonderful coffees.

Yummmm finally a good breakfast the biscuits and gravy were so good and a great portion. The home Made ranch dressing was really good as well!

Pretty amazing food. Their buttermilk pancakes are the best pancakes I have ever had. All food is fresh and amazing, breakfast or lunch. The baked goods are to die for. Sometimes they can be so busy that the waitresses can get stressed BUT always courteous despite and service is fine. My only real complaint is I wish their OJ was fresh squeezed as everything else is from scratched. When in Bigfork don't miss it.

We had lunch today and it was not worth the wait. We arrived in the 12:15 to 12:30 time frame and then waited some 45 minutes to get a table. It then took more time than it should to get our food; I estimate it took some 30 minutes or more to our order. We understand waiting for a popular restaurant. However, we waited too long for service, drinks, orders and food. Several people around us complained of the slow service. We each ordered a sandwich, a Reuben and a Veggie. Both were well made. One of us had soup, which was OK, and the other had cole slaw. The dressing had too much sugar in it. I did not finish it. I expect many of the dishes are well made. However, the food is not good enough to wait as long as we did for the food once we finally got a table. The service will need to improve. The kitchen will need to be more efficient. We will try somewhere else next time.

A delicious diner with friendly service. Had breakfast here twice on a recent weekend in Bigfork, and I'd definitely continue to go back. I had the breakfast tacos, which were great. My wife had Eggs Benedict which was also very tasty. It's not unusual for there to be a significant wait to get a table, however, so be sure and plan on that.

Having been here a few times, I haven't regretted either time. Great portion sizes, great food, and great treats. The coffee is killer and very delicious. Try the breakfast tacos for an original breakfast flavor or Karry's Honey Wheat Pancakes with orange marmalade syrup.

Absolutely fabulous food....dont pass on dessert. The peach pie and lemon blueberry scones are trully wonderful. Mouth melting. Great service and yummy smooth coffee! Off to Canada....we'll be back!!

What a wonderful addition to Electric Ave. Fresh home cooked food in a cozy, friendly atmosphere. We went for lunch and ordered the Jalapeño Burger with fresh cut fries, the Caesar Salad, and the Country Fried Steak. All of it was amazing. The burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. I ordered ranch dressing for my fries and was given home made ranch, not some watery bottles stuff. So incredibly good. My daughter devoured her Country Fried Steak as it was the best version she's ever had. The Caesar Salad also had freshly made dressing and croutons. For dessert we got a couple of gigantic coconut cupcakes. Also amazing! The service was fast and friendly and we left wanting to come back again. A great experience.

Wow. Mountain air makes me hungry, but I still can't even dream of finishing a breakfast here! Whereas the Echo Lake Cafe ( yelp.com/user_details_re… ) also serves big food, PC is big in the gluttonous kind of way. As a result, it's good to plan on sharing food. It's big I tell ya! And on to that food. Well, it's standard diner fare. Eggs how you want 'em, hash browns or home fries, toast; biscuits and gravy; flapjacks; bacon and sausage. The coffee is strong, best in town ( yelp.com/user_details_re… ). The service is fine, especially when you consider how busy this place is. They are moving people in and out like skilled professionals. That is impressive on its own to me. All in all, we enjoyed our breakfast. It's A-Ok at Pocketstone.

Waited half an hour for our food. One Rancher special and 2 kids meal. The 2 tables came in after us already got their food and finished. food is ok nothing special. The manager was finally notified after the waitress gave me the wrong check from another table. Seriously...... I had to ask for the manager. So she gave 25% discount. Horrible service from the waitress. If your table is missing food or late you should be in the kitchen asking for the food till you serve them. Not serve other table first. But I still tip her since she depend on tips to survive. Do you think I will go back with my family?

Homemade comfort food. I've had a number of dishes here over the years and it's solid food with good quality ingredients and large portions. I can't however say that there is one thing in particular here that I really like, that I keep coming back for or crave. This might be due to the high prices. I got a salad here this time , the Oriental Noodle Salad, and when I added chicken, it was like $12. Granted, I had leftovers but it wasn't that good. It had way too much soy sauce and a simple flavor profile. Fresh quality ingredients and large portions but not outstanding flavor. I've had burgers here too and they are just ok, nothing special. The vegetarian hummus burger was alright, not outstanding flavor though. Fries are fresh cut but very basic. Maybe I should stick to the breakfasts. My friend said her Eggs Beni was awesome; English muffins are homemade. And I've heard the Huevos Montana is so yummy. I do remember the chicken soup they serve daily being really good. Just haven't found my favorite thing here yet. The menus are irritating here; lots of commentary. I prefer Echo Lake Cafe over Pocketstone.

Stopped in here for a lunch after a few days of camping in Glacier National Park. Everyone in our group was really happy with their food. Highlight was the homemade jams that were set our with the breakfast foods that were ordered. I had a pulled beef and pork sandwich that was awesome.

I some some very tasty food, but the service was rather lackluster. They were mildly busy on the day I came, but you would have thought they were slammed. Every step of the breakfast process took too long . . . getting a menu, getting water, getting coffee, ordering, getting a refill, waiting, getting the bill, paying the bill, etc. I am not sure if they are understaffed, but they sure gave that impression. As for the food itself, it was rather good. My omelet was a tad overdone (brown on the outside), but the flavors and fillings were solid. The local preserves were excellent on my toast. The ice water had a slightly fishy odor to it.

Friendly staff, solid service, excellent Reuben sandwich. Classy little breakfast and lunch place that keeps with the feel of the town. Only complaint is no wifi. I normally don't go to non wifi places when traveling.

I had a great breakfast here: the buttermilk pancakes were heaven and the red potatoes were a great combo with sunny side up eggs. The coffee here was also pretty damn good. Get the biscuits and English muffin that are made fresh!!!!

The only decent thing about our meal was the soda and the homemade bread. Two people in town suggested we come here. The Rueben had about 3 slices of pastrami, the broccoli cheddar soup tasted like it was powdered soup mix, the fries were hard and oily and had no flavor and the steak fingers were battered, deep fried and way overcooked! Avoid this local version of Denny's.

On your way to Glacier National Park, make sure you stop at the Pocketstone for breakfast or lunch. And please say hi to Paulette, who I may have met back in the 1970s. We were both in West Berlin at the time, and may have been at the same nightclub! They had telephones on every table, ostensibly to ask a young lady to dance from afar. She is now the manager, and runs a first class, quality place, with great breakfasts and lunches. You will enjoy the food as much as the ambience. Downtown Bigfork is blessed to have Pocketstone there.

We visited the Pocketstone Cafe twice on our vacation. Great service both times. I had Karie's Benedict, which was fresh and delicious. My husband had the Sausage Rancher and he also enjoyed his meal. The next visit was an early morning coffee run. They were the only open business at 6 am and we were thankful for the coffee, chai latte and biscuit! Cant wait to return to Flathead and visit Pocketstone.

I frequent Pocketstone in the summer, often eating on the patio in front where I can have my small dog. I have always enjoyed excellent service and delicious food. Today, late September I stopped by for breakfast and asked if a chair could be moved to the patio as I had my dog with me and there were tables outside. The waitress said "no" and asked the other two waitress' and received the same answer. Really - how disappointing.

Good breakfast and a bit different than the other diners in the area. Newer additions to menu are great. Has the highest prices also but not high compared to metro areas. Service good.

While enjoying a recent Monday in Bigfork during our Flathead Valley vacation, a couple of shopkeepers recommended Pocketstone Cafe for lunch. We checked out other reviews on Yelp and decided to go later in the lunch period (around 1:15 p.m.) to avoid the crush.... yes, even on a Monday they are pretty busy. We were quickly seated, but I felt the wait was a little long before we got water and a hello from our server. Unfortunately, the service did not improve. Our server was friendly enough, but did not keep our water and tea glasses filled, and the wait for our food was about 45 minutes for a basic breakfast and a jalapeno burger with cole slaw. There were ample servers, baristas and bus people on the floor, so the main issue must be with the kitchen. I will say the house-made English muffin that came with my breakfast was worth the price of admission (we bought two to take back to our rental)... but I'm not sure our lunch was really worth the wait. Next time, we'll buy the baked goods and skip the rest.

Freshest ingredients for breakfast and lunch. Home made biscuits are gigantic and taste even better with home made preserves from next door. Cinnamon rolls are awesome but don't get them nuked. Cajun ranchers breakfast is the perfect breakfast. These guys are players when it comes to lunch as well. Plan on enjoying your stay at this cozy restaurant and be patient with the staff.

My husband and I had breakfast at The Pocketstone Café this morning. My husband loved his rancher breakfast. I chose to go lighter with 2 eggs over easy, a fruit cup and a delicious homemade English muffin. Everything was fresh and delicious. We will certainly return when we are in the area.

Driving around Bigfork and looking for a place to eat. Yelped and found Pocketstone. Damn what a find. There is nothing here that isn't fantastic. Everything is fresh and homemade. We had a little bit of everything for lunch, but the killer temptation was the fresh cinnamon rolls. The owners here quit their jobs in the construction industry to open this as a family and they made a great decision. You cannot go wrong.

    (5)
  • Morgan M.

Ssssoooooo good! We had a yummy grilled cheese with fresh cut fries (me) and my Hubby got buttermilk pancakes (d'lish). The owner was walking around with fresh cinnamon buns straight from the oven, which she was giving out samples. A-maz-ing. Gooey, sweet, and the sugar had caramelized in some places. Yum, yum, yum. Open for breakfast and lunch only.

  • Joshua Q.

Excellent food, no doubt. However the service was extremely slow. Despite open tables and at least four servers, the coffee arrived long after our food. We ate here two days in a row and it was the same issue both days. I cannot imagine what the wait might be in high tourist season. Still, the breakfast is great and if you are staying in town, there is nothing easier.

So I was lucky enough to live in Bigfork for while, and how few places have two great breakfast places, the Pocketstone being one. I've eaten at the Pocketstone at least a dozen times, mostly for breakfast and a few times for lunch. Everything has been fresh, with top quality ingredients and served with a smile. I only have a few gripes, I have had problems getting service, and getting food in a reasonable period of time. This seems to be hit or miss, and I would say the majority of the time things were smooth sailing, but I have had situations where an order took quite a while, or was "lost in the system", but the staff was always very apologetic, and comped the meal that was "lost in the system" without my having to say a word. I also found their menu to be somewhat limited, primarily for lunch. Compare to the Echo Lake Cafe they have a much more limited selection for lunch (and this is probably why I didn't have many lunches there). All in all the Pocketstone is a great place with great food, but if you're there when its a packed house, don't expect lightning quick turn arounds, and if you're looking for a broad lunch menu to suit everyone's taste maybe try somewhere else.

If Bigfork is my 'home away from home' for a few days, then the Pocketstone Café is my 'kitchen away from my kitchen.' So far, I've been there two mornings and just love it. Walking through the door on my second visit, both Dave, the owner and Paulette, the server greeted me by my first name--as they do most visitors. The vibe is very comfortable, the place is very clean with an attention to detail, the coffee is hot, the food (an omelet this morning) is terrific. I wondered how the grits could be this good so far from the south! Dave, Paulette, and the other staff have hospitality down to an art form. I came as a patron, I left as a friend. I'll be going back. Probably tomorrow.

Went here for breakfast the other day. The food was great, and our server even gave us a free fruit cup to soothe our whiny kid. Definitely going again.

I'll make this quick and painless... The food is fine - nothing out of this world. The service is horribly slow. The day we were there they ran out of a majority of menu items, including fries! How do you run out of fries??? Oh yeah, my wife ordered a side of ranch dressing... They charged us for that! I'll never go back.

  • Heidi H.

Great potatoes.. Wish the eggs had been poached on the eggs benedict, however the large amount of cut ham and the home baked English muffin made up for that.

I have only had breakfast here and maybe one day I'll try something off the lunch menu, I am sure its wonderful too. Great, fresh food. Country Benedict, Montana Huevos Rancheros and of course their famous cinnamon rolls are all delicious.

Apparently our experience must have been an off day, but there were no redeeming qualities about this place, other than maybe the atmosphere. First of all, you have to read a novella for every item on the menu. If they put as much thought into preparing the food as they do talking about it, this place might actually be delicious. The chicken noodle soup literally looked like the cook opened a can of Swanson chicken broth, poured in some frozen vegetable mix, available in the freezer section of any grocery store, then added mangled, golf ball sized chunks of chicken breast. It tasted just as bland as it looked and sounded. This recipe, not worth sharing. Then there was the hearty chili, this stuff is not too danged good. Chili is delicious when it is simmered for hours, but this stuff had probably been simmered so long that the liquid had long ago disappeared. It was so thick and pasty, you could use it as a stand in for construction adhesive. Finally, the Reuben. It actually wasn't terrible, glad they took the time to slice the corned beef in house, instead of sending it out for slicing, as other readers have noticed the service was painfully slow. Okay, now I have to take a minute to brag. This is a novella worth reading!

We had a great summer breakfast here sitting on the porch! The pancakes are a must, and I am truly not much of a pancake fan usually. I loved their locally made blueberry jelly as well! The staff was great. My husband and I split a main breakfast dish and then paid the extra $4 for the extra sides and that was plenty of food for the two of us..... Oh and we bought 3 cinnamon rolls to go too : ) if you don't get one of those, your totally missing out!!!

  • C A.

We have been here multiple times. Food is good, but expensive. Unfortunately, the service takes sooooo long. Last weekend we were served our coffee in to go cups because they ran out of coffee cups, and it took ONE HOUR for the food to get to the table. Wish they could get the service thing down... we want to love this place but don't think we will be back.

  • Spencer G.

Delicious! This is a simple, diner-style restaurant that goes the extra mile. It was clear from the staff and the menu that the owners really want to give people there money's worth here. I had the reuben here and it was probably the best reuben I've ever had. They make the corned beef and the saurkraut in house and it made a huge difference. The meat and kraut had clearly been crafted over time as they were full of flavor, not simply thrown onto a piece of bread like you might get at other places. We ate outside and got to enjoy the lovely weather of northern Montana in the summer. Great location with shops and other activities right nearby. This is the perfect lunch stop for a day in Bigfork.

I had about twenty family members in town for my daughter's wedding...this was (with one exception) the only place everybody ate. The pancakes, breakfast burritos, and cheeseburgers were fantastic! Service could have been a little quicker (or else I am so used to the California lifestyle that I've grown impatient), but was extremely friendly...highly recommend the place!

  • Richard F.

The sandwich was fabulous but... After waiting 20 minutes to get in for lunch, it took another 15 minutes to be asked for drink order, another 10 minutes to take our food order, then almost an hour to be served! Then the fries arrived cold. This restaurant needs a better plan to handle their customers.

My husband likes breakfast and I like lunch, We can get both at the same time at Pocketstone. We have loved every meal we have eaten here since the day it opened. Great menu from breakfasts to salmon entres, homemade soups, pie, pasteries, and much more. We bring family and guests here and they are delighted. Nice decor, wonderful owners and great staff!

We've eaten breakfast here three times. The food is excellent but the service is very slow. The last time, the waitress didn't show up at our table for quite a long time, took drink orders and served them but then didn't get back to us for another long period to take our food order. Then it took a long time to get our food. I think the restaurant is understaffed. Good food, bad service. Go if you can wait a long time.

Very good place for breakfast. My husband and I live near Echo Lake Cafe and go there a lot, but Pocketstone is just as good and their coffee is better. It's nice to have two great places for breakfast if you aren't satisfied with regular "coffee shop" type breakfasts that abound in most restaurants in Montana. Since Pocketstone is in the village, it's fun to walk around afterwards or bike to breakfast down the Wild Mile. I haven't tried lunch yet, but the menu looks great.

Some of the best clam chowder I have ever had! Everything is homemade and delicious. We got there just when they were about to close and were so happy that they talked us into staying for lunch and were willing to take a party of 7!! This is a place you shouldn't miss if you are in the Bigfork area.

This place is fantastic. I am visiting a friend in Bigfork, MT, and we came here for breakfast. Not only is this place delicious, it's also really cheap. The pancakes are great and they're served with both maple and huckleberry syrups. All of the syrups and preserves come from the place next door that makes them by hand. They have all kinds of beautiful pies to ogle over when you walk in. And all the fruit served is delicious and beautiful. They're open for both breakfast and lunch.
